(USS Exeter - Deck 8 - Security Center - Tactical Ensign jg Jori - 0115)
Though the ship computer stated that she had already officially reported on board the Exeter, Jori had no memory of it. Several possible explanations ran through her mind, from the Q being not restoring her full memory, to Jori suffering some sort of injury, to her having a really fun time on Risa.
Since she was the new officer, she needed to make a good impression, so Jori decided to play along until she had more information. Play along. Ha! She'd been doing that since Quella took it upon herself to interfere in Jori's life. Of course, there was still the chance none of that actually happened.
Jori left her homeworld and joined Starfleet for the new experiences. That was coming true and her career was just beginning.
Once she was dressed, Jori dashed out of her quarters, which were on deck 8, the same as the main security center. Her focus was on the task ahead, but she couldn't help notice the reactions she was getting as she weaved her way through the busy corridor. A surprised face here, eyes agape there, a jaw dropped somewhere else. No one expected to see a Deltan. Deep inside, she smiled at the attention.
Jori turned the last corner, reaching her destination, but she stopped before the door slid open. First impressions. Cool, calm, composed, not rushed or in a tizzy. If you appear like you can handle the situation, others around you will feel you can. Taking a quick breath, Jori stepped inside.
Assessing the room, the first thing Jori sensed, was tension. Something was wrong of course, and no one resolved it yet, so some level of tension was to be expected. This time was different. It was like the feeling in the air was something tangible, something one could feel wrapping around them.
Moving past that, Jori could easily see that the people there knew their jobs and were doing them. Only the best of the best, the exemplary, got to serve on a starship.
Finding Ensign T'Kel, she joined him at his side, pretending she remembered initially boarding the ship.
"Ensign," said Jori, nodding a greeting. "What do you need me to do?"
(reply T'Kel, any)
