History, Education and Skills

Family and Background

:

Tyrek is the Son of Romulan Senator Sokev Na'Rel and Mira Toval. His mother Mira, was a teacher on New Romulus. Tyrek was born in 2412 on the Romulan colony world of Eden 3 years before becoming part of the Romulan Republic. Eden is a beautiful world , rich in natural resources. Remans make up the majority of the population. Tyrek moved to New Romulus when he was 5 years old so that his mother could further pursue her career as a teacher, while his father ran for political office. Breaking the long standing tradition of Na'Rel's serving as soldiers. Tyrek was a good student academically. He kept to himself and stayed out of trouble. Tyrek paid close attention to his fathers political endeavors, learning the ins and outs of Republic law. His ability to pay close attention to detail from a distance became apparent to him in his youth. He simply assumed all Romulans had this ability. While most Romulans exhibit a keen eye for detail, Tyrek's ability was far and beyond that of his peers and even those who were older than himself. Able to remember even the most minor and subtle details of anything that he was exposed to. He became interested in military service at the age of 13 after he entered into a junior program while in school that allowed students to learn about the Romulan Republic military forces and their day to day routines. Tyrek became infatuated with the military. Immediately his desire to be a teacher was replaced with the desire and dream to one day become an officer and serve the Republic. In 2426 his mother passed away from her long battle with Tuvan syndrome. In 2444 Tyrek married a fellow officer named Renda Shi'vor who served as the Chief Engineer of the V'Met. The marriage was short lived. Renda was transferred to another ship for what was supposed to be a temporary assignment aboard The R.R.F. Muv'Ek. During this mission the Muv'Ek received a Romulan coded distress call from a region of space that was formerly claimed by the Romulan Star Empire, but is now unclaimed by anyone except wandering ship clans. When they responded to the call it was a trap set by an unallied rogue Romulan faction . All lives were lost aboard the Muv'Ek. Tyrek took the loss of his wife surprisingly well knowing that she died in service to the Republic under the belief that she was helping people.

Education

:

Tyrek attended the Romulan fleet Academy from 2430 until 2436 where he graduated with honors being named the academy's Centurion Cadet Major of his class. He majored in Combative operations and Technology, minoring in Personnel management and probability analytics. He displayed an aptitude for compiling segmented parts of information and piecing them together to form coherent and more complete data.

Medical History

:

Tyrek suffers from stage 3 Tuvan Syndrome. Even with recent advancements in treating the disease, with some Romulans being cured. His diagnosis of stage 3 means he is beyond the point of being cured with current Medical practices. His diagnosis is one of the main contributing factors for him joining the Exchange Program. He was diagnosed in early 2445, shortly after his wife passed away. It is believed that Tyrek inherited the disease from his mother. With current available treatments his life expectancy is about 15 years.

Skills

:

Tyrek is a skilled hand to hand combatant, knowing several forms of self defense and martial arts. Like most Romulan soldiers he is proficient with small firearms and bladed weapons. He has a keen eye for observation and predicting the intent and actions of people based on minimal knowledge. Tyrek can speak the Reman language which like the Romulan language is a variation of ancient Vulcan, sounding similar to High Romulan. Tyrek has a near perfect memory , able to recall even the smallest detail of something that would otherwise be forgotten by most. Another skill of his is the ability to perform parlor tricks with playing cards of most varieties. His fast hands have impressed many of his fellow officers during downtime.

Notes

:

Upon graduation he was assigned to the R.R.F. V'Met of 4th fleet as a weapons and communications officer. The crew was deployed to defend the supply routes between colony worlds of Chaltok IV and Eden to New Romulus. In 2438 he was selected to go undercover into an unallied Romulan isolationist movement, where he played the part of a traitor to the republic to gain information. This undercover role ended in 2441. In 2442 he was promoted to Chief Weapons Officer and Intelligence agent of the R.R.F V'Met. Three weeks later an attack on the supply lines of Chaltok IV happened. The attack was from a Romulan faction opposed to the republic. During the attack the R.R.F. V'Met successfully defended the supply ships and when the attackers turned to flee from republic space the V'Met followed into hostile territory. The V'Met took heavy damage against 4 enemy Warbirds. The Commanding Officer, Commander HuLek lost his life and the first officer received injuries while moving to the bridge via the turbolift. With the bridge crew in a state of panic Tyrek assumed command of the vessel in the middle of combat and applied his tactical knowledge to the situation. Using a tactic which made the enemy vessels follow them at warp speeds back to the border of Republic space. While seemingly fleeing at warp, the crew used this time to redirect power and resources from non essential systems to bolster their shields and targeting systems. Before the V'Met could cross the border Tyrek ordered the ship to decelerate abruptly from warp 9.4 to warp 7.2. This reduction in speed allowed for the enemy warbirds to come within optimum weapons range and the V'Met's weapons systems to fire torpedoes at the aft/bow sections of the passing Warbirds who weren't anticipating such a maneuver. This caused the enemy warbirds to experience a massive power loss and allowed for the V'Met to unleash the full complement of its arsenal on its targets. All 4 ships were destroyed in a matter of minutes. After this encounter Tyrek was awarded The Raptor's Wing Medal of Valor for his actions in combat against an enemy force. This award is one of the highest honors a soldier in the Romulan military can receive for service. This accomplishment brought him notoriety among his fellow officers. Tyrek acts as an intelligence agent within the Republic fleet as well. This fact is unknown to those he has served with. He is tasked with rooting out potential threats to the stability of the Republic among the ranks of those he serves with.

"This all seems like a waste, I mean everything, maybe even rebuilding the federation.” Kaz wasn’t actually talking to anyone just thinking out loud. “All this death, these people are suffering and can we even make a difference by being here.”, Kaz generally didn’t have such a negative outlook on things but the last few months had been taxing and he had started to second guess all his life choices.
