He had made his introductions and showed her the Void Hunters world of Hanger 2 and some of the important places in the Wing’s complex as a whole. “So how do you find our home?” Sonnlo shifted in her chair. “It is good Sir.” Ire hid a smile and nodded. “Okay so first a few rules while you are my Flight Officer. While we are out of the cockpit, we rank applies but when we fly together, I am Ire and you are Sonnlo okay.” “Yes sir.” “I expect high standards from my people, but that does not mean that I am a dictator. If you have a suggestion, comment, query I have an open-door policy so please come and see me.” “Yes Sir.” He glanced down as his PADD. “So tell me about yourself and your flying experience?” Sonnlo shrugged. “There is not much to say. I am a marine just like my brother. He went into Special Maritime Exploration and Recon Force and I joined their Aviation section as a pilot. When the federation fell apart we both left Pacifica looking for jobs and became contractors. Tagh my brother along with a friend called Sytuk got work in security and I managed to get a place in the squadron.” “What type of flying did you do when you were in the Special Maritime Exploration and Recon Force and afterwards?” She paused for a moment before talking. “The Aviation unit was split into different Groups dealing with space and atmospheric combat to lift transport to recon and strategic bombing. I was lucky to be given a space on the highly coveted Electronic Warfare Attack Squadron of the 100th Intruder Support Group.” Ire thought for a moment as the name rang a bell. “The Growlers and Prowlers Squadron?” She nodded. “Spent time as both pilot and E-War officer in the squadron. When we left, I flew anything we were contracted to use which was a wide variety of craft.” “Thank you, do you have any questions for me?” “Is it true that we are going on a contest with the other squadron leaders and we are using MK5 Valkyries?” “Yes, we are doing it today and we are using the MK5s. It’s on the holodeck as we only have enough for the squadron leads at the moment. Have you much experience with them?” “I have flown in MK2s and know the systems and capabilities of the MK5s.” Ire nodded. “I have flow the MK2 and MK5s” He paused looking around the office. “In the main complex they have tactical holotable that can display the data better. Shall we go and have a better look at MK5s capabilities.” “Yes Sir.” Ire stood up with Sonnlo and headed for the main complex. (Mars facility –Tactical Simulation Display – Pilot Ensign (JG) – Ire Williams /Greta Smith/Flight Officer - Sonnlo Caonrobh- 0640) They had a large holographic display of the MK5 Valkyrie on the tactical table which was slowly rotating as they talked. “Sir as you know the MK5 sensor suites and electronic countermeasures are very adaptable. Linking them into targeting suites and using a few tricks here and there we might be able to….” Ire and Sonnlo turned as doors opened and some else entered the room. Walking into the room, Greta spied the two men at the holotable and smiled, ~aw, he looks kind of cute when he's concentrating ~ she thought to herself as she walked over. Dressed in her flight suit, Greta stood next to Sonnlo, "So, what's the plan? Because you know we have to take down that pair of pretenders. I want a chance to beat the boss." Ire nodded. “It's not going to be easy. Ravok is good and with that Romulan heritage behind him he’s quick. I am not sure about Reena but she seems a shrewd one and then we have the asteroids to deal with as well.” Raising an eyebrow, Greta winked at Ire. "You just have no vision do you? If we're gonna win, we have to out sneak the Romulan. Sure he's okay at flying but you have hundreds of years of Scottish ingenuity on your side." Ire eyed her cautiously “And what does your centuries of highly honed Celtic warrior instinct tell you?” "Simple, one of us stands out in the open, the other hides, strikes from behind. " “You think that they might be ready for that?” "Something that simple? No. They're gonna be expecting complicated battle tactics." Sonnlo spoke up. “It might work Sirs. We might be able to spook them in thinking that there is another fighter hiding in one place while the second fighter attacks them from a different direction. If we reconfigure the ECM suites along with a tactical sensor suite it could fool them that there is another fighter in hiding. Until they get close enough for the sensor to spot it for what it is.” Smiling, Greta hit Ire lightly. "See, listen to the ladies. We know what we are talking about." Ire rolled his eyes. “Greta don’t be silly of course you both know what you are talking about.” "So, now the question becomes who hides and who becomes the sacrificial lamb so to speak?" “It depends on if you want to come and save our asses or do you want us to be your shining knights in armour?” "Could you handle a woman saving your ass, mister?" “I have got no problem with you saving my ass.” he grinned at her and then went back to being more professional as he glanced at Sonnlo. ~I bet you don't ~ she thought to herself, allowing her gaze to linger on him for a second to long and then turned her attention to the holotable. "So, let's make this easier. Ire, sorry Ensign Williams, you hide. Then you can save my ass." Ire shook his head. “No, your plan is fine and any way if Sonnlo is going to set up the decoy it will make sense for us to be the bait and you come sneaking in and get them in a trap.” "Fine. If your Male ego can handle the little Scottish woman saving your behind, ladies." She replied with a wink. “My male ego has no problem with that, thank you very much.” as he sighed and looked at the two woman. Winking at Sonnlo, Greta looked back at Ire and flashed a smile, "I need to go take a shower. You two work out a plan and I'll meet you, young man, in the pilot's lounge in an hour or so." “Remember we have a general meeting at 0900 with the admiral. You don’t want to be late for that.” He watched as Greta walked out of the room and there was silence which seemed to emanate from her absence. “Sir is she always like that?” “No but Greta was my flight officer before she became squadron leader. So we have spent a long time in fighters doing patrols and missions.” “So you got to know her well Sir?” “Yes I think I know her quite well.” Sonnlo turn and looked at his with her head slightly tilted. “Sir If I was a smart woman and I am not. I could come to the conclusion that you saw each other socially?” Ire turned to look at her. “Excuse me!” “The way you were both were just now. I am sure that she is interested in you and I am sure that you are interested in her.” “Now just wait a moment. That is not funny.” “But Sir it's true don’t you see it?” “Is that your way of humour in Pacifica?” “Pacifica is very liberal in their relationships and also I am a Marine and as you know if you could not take a joke you should not have joined.” “You're not in the marines now?” “No Sir but as they say you can take a girl out or the marines but not the marine out of the girl.” Ire groaned. “Is this how our working relationship means to go on?” “What me Sir. I am pure as a new pearl sir.” “Come on let's get things sorted before something else happens.” “Yes Sir, of course Sir.” (reply None) (Posted by Jackie and Robbie) (Mar Orbit - Shuttle – Contractor - Sonnlo Caonrobh /Tagh Caonrobh - 0926) Sonnlo looked through the view port of the front of the shuttle as the red orb of Mars grew larger in front of then and glanced over at in Tagh and gave him a shove. “We are nearly there.” There was a grunt from the co-pilots chair before Tagh spoke. “You know that you did not have to come with me.” Sonnlo grinned inside her faceplate and shook her head. “What and let you go off to the federation alone? What kind of a sister would I be to let her brother do that?” She saw Tagh’s shoulder slump as they had for the hundredth time they had, had this conversation since leaving Pacifica. “But you are not even flying are you. Your just a, what do that call it a ‘flight officer’. You could flying rings around these you fools.” “Tagh it was not like I was doing much flying at home or in the Corps at the moment was I now, so any excuse to be in a fighter will be good and anyway you were the one who said that it would be good to get work with Starfleet.” She saw Tagh pick up the PADD that contained their orders. “It says here that you are being assigned to the Void Haunters squadron as a flight officer and we are being assigned to security.” “We?” There was a pause before he spoke. “Um Sytuk is also joining with us.” “What! Your telling me that the scary Reman is also here as well. Tagh why!” “What! Sonnlo he is good at what he dose and I have worked with him before and he is solid in a fight.” “Tagh, he scares the hell out of most people, you are just stupid not to notice. Don’t get me wrong he saved my butt that time in Callus Four and everything, but you put him in front of human and they will run away screaming. There is no way they will accept us now with him along.” “They already have.” “What and they accepted, they must be more desperate then I thought. Have you seen his file image it looks like he a demon coming to kill us all not a security guard who will protect us.” Her console beeped and she activated the comm channel. =^=Shuttle Craft Alpha 278 this is Mars Orbital Control=^= “Mars Orbital Control this is Shuttle Craft Alpha 278.” =^= Shuttle Craft Alpha 278 turn to beacon Gamma 45, proceed on descent path and contact Mars Ground control when you hit atmosphere=^= “Understood Mars Orbital Control use beacon Gamma 45 for descent and contact Mars Ground Control when entering atmosphere.” She looked back to Tagh. “Come on brother, let’s get ready to land.” (Reply none) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Mystique -- Counseling office -- Medical/Counselor -- Ensign J.G Quinna Solice -- 1023) Quinna sat in the comfy chair in the counseling office. The door was open as she welcomed anyone needed to come in. She was thinking back to the people and what she personally did during the Trill Mission. She made note of the events. Lets see… There was the Tale of the Drunk Romulans The Pleas of Love And Family troubles. Quinna wondered what was next. Maybe some of the women become pregnant with the wrong babies. Maybe there would be a series of alien abductions, perhaps something happens and everyone breaks out in song or there could Puck would make Mars Station into his own Mid-summers night dream. “Quinna you are being ridiculous.” Quinna chastised herself. She looked down and noticed that she had recorded that into her report. Even though the report was confidential, Quinna deleted those wondering topics. Quinna waited to see if anyone would walk though the open door. (Reply… Any or everyone) (Played by Kris) (USS Mystique -- Counseling office -- Dr. Kyros Ryelle- 1024) Ryelle entered in the Counseling office with a smile. He had been looking for Quinna and was hoping she would be in the counseling office. He could have asked the computer for her location, but it wasn't a pressing matter. He just wanted to speak to her before the craziness of Mars picked up. "Oh good Dr. Solice, I was hoping to see you here." (Reply Quinna) "Sorry if I come of as formal. It's a habit from the monastery, and I haven't quite been able to shake it. There are some moments were I feel more comfortable with given names, but the formal titles, just slip some times." (replyu Quinna) "Anywas Dr. Sol.... I mean Quinna, I just wanted to stop by before we got to Mars and say thank you for helping me break the news to Dr. Bracken and Miss Jones. I know that was about a week ago, but from talking to Dr. Bracken in sickbay, it seems the two have gotten to bond a little. I don't know if I would have felt comfortable breaking the news by myself. I just wasn't sure if I thanked you properly. In the monastery they made us write thank you notes to benefactors, a little outdated, I know. But well, that habit also is one I have not broken. So I thought I'd go ahead and hand deliver one. Took my a while to write it. I always write them, but sometimes it may take a week, a month, or even a year." Ryelle then handed her a card sealed in an old school envelope. Looking over the PADD he had been given he looked at the young nurse “Discharge Crewman Tuji I'm sure Engineering would be happy to have him back, continue observations on Crewman B'toch.” “Aye sir” the nurse said taking the PADD back and moving away. Gabe moved to the office area as he had seen Ensign Bracken move in. “Good Morning sir, I have an update on the watch for you if you wish?” Gabe didnt wait and just went into the report “I've discharged Tuji, showed great improvement I dont see any reason to keep him here any longer. Crewman B'toch still hasnt regained consciousness, I would like to run another round of blood tests as I feel weve missed something.” Gabe stood and looked at the officer “Sorry ma'am, how are you? I hear things have been rough?” (Reply Bracken, any) (Posted by Mat) (USS Mystique - Ready Room - CO - Admiral Remae Ktell - 1500) During the trip home, Remae had sent updates back to Starfleet Command, of his impressions of the Trill, the Andorians, the symbionts virus and the virus that had taken out Doctor Bracken, but Command seemed more interested in the Andorians than anything else. Remae could only explain what he saw and what he experienced, they were true to their word, offered to assist in Starbase Freedom's construction and were non-hostile. The Wraith had made an appearance, decloaking for a while alongside them and then recloaking, disappearing on a who-knows-what mission. Remae didn't get a chance to see Jana again but, she'd be back. at somepoint. For themselves, the Admiral was taking the slower way home; he didn't want to push the Mystique any harder than was required, there was no need; engineering was busy with the designs of the new base, Medical involved itself with Virus, the Sciences department was studying their data of Trill and Security, and Tactical was going over the scans of the Andorian and Trill technology itself. Counselling staff were putting final touches to their reports, crew evaluations and the pilots of the ship seemed to be having fun at the controls. It would seem from time to time, the ship would lurch to one side followed by giggles, and the sudden acceleration seemed to indicate they were having fun, perhaps testing the ship... it seemed Luma approved or simply ignored their efforts but it was good to see the crew relax a little. With several weeks of ship experience under their belts, Remae was happy for them to get their space legs but, they had to return back and resume the work they had started on Mars, after all, there was tens of thousands of people waiting for them, each department would to make sure they were on track. (USS Mystique - Deck 14, CSO's office - aACSO(R)- Ensign (jg) Sekal- 1505) With their return imminent Sekal had retrieved the crystal. Currently it and his personal PADD were inside the toolkit he had taken to carrying with him whenever he was moving the object. His cabin had already been neatened and the small collection of personal items belonging to him were in his cabin awaiting movement back to the Mars installation. He activated the comm. "All science department personnel are to conclude any remaining experiments and have the labs cleaned before sixteen hundred. Stellar Cartography will have all data on the stellar nursery transferred to the Mars facilities main computer bank." Senior officers will be off duty after the listed tasks are completed and will be excused from duty until twelve hundred tomorrow. At that time a meeting will be held in the main conference room on the third floor of the annex. After the meeting the senior officers will spend the rest of the day in catching up on operations that have been ongoing in the annex since the departure of the Mystique. A full return to research operations will begin at zero eight hundred on the tenth. Are there questions over anything I have covered?" (Reply: Any in Science) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Mystique - Stennin's office - Science Ensign JG Stennin - 1507) Stennin took a last look at his PADD and then the terminal on his desk. He nodded, and made a few taps as he adjusted the final details of his report. As he got up, he suddenly heard the sound of Sekal over the intercom. "All science department personnel are to conclude any remaining experiments and have the labs cleaned before sixteen hundred. Stellar Cartography will have all data on the stellar nursery transferred to the Mars facilities main computer bank." Stennin nodded and turned back to his desk, as he heard his name. "Ensign Stennin will oversee the transfer of specimens and data from the other labs to the science department annex on Mars base. Stellar Cartography is the exception, I will be handling that task." "Aknowledged, ensign Sekal. I will examine the collected data right away." Stennin nodded fervently and then turned back to his terminal. He tapped the console a few times as he tasked to transfer all the data from the Material Sciences, Geosciences, and Engineering labs to him. The console quickly flooded with reports on small projects and maintenance. Stennin quickly activated the compilation algorithms, and looked closely as the algorithm transferred all the data to their designated folders. "A note the new arrivals in the department. The third floor of the science annex has personal cabins, this is where you will be staying while on base and you will find them more spacious than your quarters on the Mystique. Use of these cabins rather than general housing on the base is preferred though if you desire the latter arrangements may be made depending on availability." Stennin rose a brow, but shrug it of quickly. He had little interest in the illogical struggles of comfort. If he had a place to sleep and meditate, he would be satisfied. "Senior officers will be off duty after the listed tasks are completed and will be excused from duty until twelve hundred tomorrow. (Reply: Any in Science) Stennin thought for a moment, but shook his head. Sekal had explained the procedures plainly, as would be only logical. He turned back to his terminal as the intercom closed. Stennin nodded and did a quick calculation. The schedule would be full, but it was only logical as they needed to attain all the needed information to perform their duty. He looked at his console for the moment, looking as the files where being placed where they should go. With a tap, he logged the ETA for the program. He had fifteen minutes. He nodded, as he turned for the door. He needed to pack his belongings for the stay on Mars. As the Mystique dropped out of warp into the sol systems messages started to appear on his PADD. ~Ow great I get back and I am already inundated by Squadron admin already~ He glanced at the information that scrolled across the PADD and paused when he spotted ‘Routine Personnel Rotation’. ~Ow so I am getting a new flight officer and it looks like she might be with me longer than the others on rotation~ He looked at the Chief in charge of the fighters as he came towards him and pushed his personal thoughts aside. “Are they ready to fly?” “Yes Sir. Yours, Ensign Ravok and Ensign Williams’s fighters are still at alert readiness until we dock and begin transport back to the surface and will be ready to be slotted back into their squadron rotation.” He nodded and glanced at the chronometer and noted that the ‘Void Hunters’ would still be patrolling. Just because we docked, doesn't mean our shipboard duties are over bud. Who knows when the Mystique might be used again. We need to make sure that all Shuttles onboard are piloted to the Starbase hangar for reassignment throughout the Mars facilities. Once that is over we will see. Look Ire, drinks on me later. I feel guilty for saying no. One day, I promise you I will say yes. But we still have work to do." (reply Ire if you want) "Trip out." He settled on, "Um, thanks? Thanks, Admiral, that means. something.", he said, putting his foot into his mouth once more. His lack of respect to the senior leadership of the Federation notwithstanding or noticed was suitably ignored by the CINC. The Fleet Admiral went on to say, "We're arranging a little gathering for you and a few of your officers, Admiral. As soon as you settle in, drop by HQ, we have things to discuss.", he said, and the channel winked off. If the command chair was able, he'd climbed in to avoid the situation but, instead, he looked around at the assembled officers and began planning his victims. Who would he choose to come along? (Reply from All) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Mystique - Bridge - - TAC Ensign jg Ravok- 1550) "All hands, dismissed." The Admiral had ordered. Ravok watched as everyone left the bridge. He was happy to be back to Mars, but a part of him. Was going to miss the mystique. This was his first ship as an officer that he had served on. He rubbed his hands along the outer edge of the Tactical station he had become so familiar with. He hesitated a moment before he powered down the terminal. ~ Well atleast you get to fly again. ~ he thought with a smile beaming across his face. He then looked at the admiral who was sitting in the command chair. ~ Thank you Sir~ he thought. Although it meant nothing to most of the officers who had been given the chance to sit there during the mission it meant alot to him. He had sat in the chair 4 times, but nothing compared to the first time the Admiral appointed him temporary command. Even more momentous was the fact that a seasoned Starfleet officer would even consider letting a Romulan sit in that seat. The Admiral had nothing but Ravok's upmost respect and gratitude for that opportunity. A simple taste of what could be in store for him in his future. Ravok powered down all tactical stations and headed towards the Turbolift. He stopped and looked around the now empty bridge on last time. In a moment of sheer gratitude said " Thank you Sir" to the admiral and stepped onto the Turbolift . Shipboard life was nice, but Mars offered him more of an opportunity to find places to meditate and pray, not to mention a better work schedule. On Mars he had the day shift. On the Mystique he usually worked from 18:00 to 06:00. It was a bit hard to have a social life when one was working while everyone else was asleep. That pipe dream though would need to wait. The different medicines and medical equipment would need to be taken from the Mystique back to Mars. They would need to be packed and properly maintained, and Ryelle had volunteered to help with the packing. It had mostly been done as they got close, but there was a limited supply unpacked, in case anyone got sick during the last hour of the journey. "Well," he said looking at sickbay. "I hope that the excitement you provided me stays here." ~No more having to tell my Boss that she has secret family members.~ Ryelle then continued to pack up. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Mystique - Deck 15- Chief of Security's Office - Petty Officer, Steven Hammons- 1603) He walked down the corridor confidently before he turned into the Chief's Office, the hangover he had acquired after his bout on Trill long since forgotten. Until he thought about it that is which caused a slight wince at the memory. It hadn't been pleasant, not at all. His only consolation was that Jared had been worse off than he was which was saying something. A visit to medical had ensued for a hypo cocktail that had remedied the headache that had threatened to crack his skull open. Fortunately it was still neatly joined and his grey matter in place. There were two reminders of the afternoon in his quarters, a matched set of unopened glass bottles that he had no memory of bringing back to the ship with him but he was glad that in his stupefied state he had still retained the presence of mind to rescue them from the anonymity of a dark cabinet in a bar on the Trill homworld. The door opened and closed behind him and he saw Chief Peters looking through reports on his monitor. "Steven Hammons at your service Chief...", he began, "... I just left the armory and they're wondering what you want to do with all the gear... ship it down to Mars all at once via the cargo transporters to the base armory or store it in a separate facility? They're afraid that it will get misplaced by the quartermaster." (Reply: Carson) "Yeah I know but he's been trying to get rid of those 'dust buster' phasers on everybody. I say he should just recycle them and damn the expense." (Reply: Carson) "I'm available and willing to help in whatever way you need sir. Just say jump." (Reply: Carson) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Mystique - Deck 15, Chief of Security's Office - aASCO, Ens(jg) Carson Peters - 1605) The ship had been docked with the Mars base for a few hours but Carson still hadn't found himself planetside as of yet. There was a lot more logistics to departing the ship and moving all of the resources and personnel back across to the base, he knew his team would get smoother and faster as time went on- but this first time was proving to be somewhat difficult. Mis-commuincations between departments were meant multiple people were being assigned to the same job, and other jobs went without being done. He understood it was probably to do with the dual roles the crew found themselves working within now they were back on the base and still attached to a ship. He knew he'd lucked out on that front, working for the same department across both stations. He looked up suddenly as the door opened and allowed Petty Officer Hammons into the room before closing behind him, "Steven Hammons at your service Chief...", he began, "... I just left the armory and they're wondering what you want to do with all the gear... ship it down to Mars all at once via the cargo transporters to the base armory or store it in a separate facility? They're afraid that it will get misplaced by the quartermaster." This was also a part of the bigger issue with the Mystique. Since it had been pre-determined that she wasn't going to be utilised again, it was a case of actually removing and taking everything they could with them before decommisioning her. There was no major rush, but departments were laying claim to different areas of the technology for their sole use. "We're returning to a much larger department, the MAJCOM certainly came through with the personnel request, but I don't see much in the way of equipment. Let's take everything we can down to the base and get it in rotation, quartermaster be damned. If he loses any of it, he'll be answering to me." Carson growled. "Yeah I know but he's been trying to get rid of those 'dust buster' phasers on everybody. I say he should just recycle them and damn the expense." Carson smiled, "That's one way of dealing with them." "I'm available and willing to help in whatever way you need sir. Just say jump." "Fanastic," The PO had been particulary useful on the journey too and from Trill and had become someone Carson trusted to get a job done, "Once you've overseen the movement of those supplies. I need you to follow up with an ongoing tail I put in place before we left. I need a report on what's happened since we've been gone, what evidence we have, communications etc as well as a recommendation as to whether we keep her under surveillance or bring her in." (Reply Hammons) (USS Mystique - Deck 15, Chief of Security's Office - Petty Officer, Steven Hammons - 1606) "Fanastic..." chief Peters seemed please, "...once you've overseen the movement of those supplies. I need a report on what's happened since we've been gone, what evidence we have, communications etc as well as a recommendation as to whether we keep her under surveillance or bring her in." Steven's eyes brightened a little. "Are you talking about that investigation you had the senior officers running?" (Reply:Carson) Hammons gave a grin. "That's going to be a hell of a lot better assignment than pulling guard or patrol duty. I'm all over it Chief. As soon as we get to ground I'll round up what info they have and bulldoze through it." (Reply: Carson) Hammons snapped a salute, made an about face and walked out the door with his grin widening with every step. While it probably wouldn't take more than a shift or two to gather the info and make a recommendation it would be taking him off the boring routine of the base and into something more imaginative and he was looking forward to it. She had kept herself in her allocated quarters for the whole trip being visited by Foxglove a couple of times to give her a report on her abduction. It had taken most of the trip back to Mars for her to get herself back to her normal human self by reversing her internal and external Trill featchers. She had been glad when the cramps and nausea has subsided, and she could eat normal food and walk around her small quarters. (USS Mystique – Hanger Deck 12 -Pilots Ensign JG Ire Williams & Ensign JG Ravok- 1637) After complete shutdown procedures to the tactical systems on ship, Ravok headed down to the main hangar bay on deck 12. When he arrived he saw people hard at work. They were breaking down temporary interface terminals and finalizing flight operations procedures. Ravok felt it of the loop, but knew exactly what he had to do... Crewman Baker approached him. " You ready boss ?" Ravok looked at him and smirked. " I haven't put on my red uniform yet. Technically I'm still tactical. Ensign Taya is handling the final tactical reports and since my usefulness to the department has expired. I'm here to help move everything to the surface." Baker looked at him. " I don't care what color uniform you are wearing Sir. You're my boss " he smiled at Ravok. " Ok " he nodded his head. " Where's Ire?" He asked. Baker turned and pointed " He's over there " Ravok looked and saw Ire going over some things with the support staff. Ravok smiled and walked over in that direction and snuck up behind Ire as he was talking. “Okay so we are down to the one type 6 and the fighters…..” He noticed that a couple of the support staff were trying not to smile as they were looking at something over his shoulder. “.... and this is the last of the equipment. We have time and are in no hurry to do it properly. Once we have finished here …….” Ravok tapped Ire on his right shoulder and quickly jumped to the left side of him. Standing there with his arms crossed pretending like he didn't just tap him on the shoulder. Ire turned to see Ravok behind him with his arms crossed and a look of innocence on his face. He glanced back at the support staff who were trying hard not to laugh. " I wanted to add to what Ensign Williams I was saying. Let's take our time and just follow protocol. Tactical has already started securing and cataloging all torpedoes for immediate transport to the surface. Once on the surface tactical will secure them in a secure location" Ravok said as he smiled at Ire for noticing it was him who had tapped his shoulder. Ire looked back at the Chief and nodded. “Carry on chief.” As the support staff dispersed back to there duties Ire turned to Ravok and spoke softly. “You idiot.” Ravok laughed. " I'm just playing man." He said as he patted Ire on the shoulder. Ire smiled and nodded. “I know Ravok. I know.” Ravok looked at the three attack fighters sitting there. " I missed these things. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we didn't use them, but boy did I miss them." Ire nodded. “It would have been nice to have flown around the Trill system but I am glad we did not have to go against the Andorian ship.” " We would have been no match for them. The mystique would have been atomized and we would have been stranded in space running back to federation space. These fighters are obsolete " He said to Ire with discouragement in his voice. He looked at his fighter and smiled slightly. “We do need something better as we will come across something we can’t talk our way out of.” " I agree , in the academy we trained in Valkyrie 5's. We get to Mars and we get handed these. " Ravok said as he motioned his hands to the 3 old Peregrine attack fighters in front of them. Ire nodded. “I hope that while we have been away someone has found an undiscovered hanger with nice new fighters.” "That would be nice, but I'm doubtful."Ravok responded “Or maybe the Republic will be closer to launch which would also help.” " I heard we have some Trill officers in transit. Some kind of officer transfer program, where they will be given duties and rolls equivalent to their qualifications. Keir….I mean Ensign Merek also told me of engineering getting a boost to its manpower." Ravon said as he stepped out of the way for two people carrying a large crate past them. Ire nodded. He had not heard that they had taken some new officers from Trill but then being on the night shift he was out of the loop with a lot of things and smiled at Ravoks slip with Marek's name. “That would be good. The more help we can get in any department the better.” " So I will take Warbird One down. I can control the type 6 remotely with Crewman Bakers assistance " Ire grinned at Ravok.” Okay just don’t scratch the shuttle on the way down.” Ravok smiled. " My name is Ravok Shara, not Ire Williams " he said in response to Ire jokingly Ire grinned back. “Okay I’ll get Hunter One down when my new pilot officer arrives and we can get one of the pilots from Red Dragon to fly Dragon One if Trip is stuck with other things.” " Ares One bud. " Ravok said, reminding Ire of the name change to Trip's fighter Ire nodded. “Ares One and hopefully by that time we should have everything planet side and we can get back to our normal routine.” " I'm excited. I am gonna miss being on the ship though." Ravok said as he looked around “Saying that I will miss being off planet.” " I know right, now we get to be grounded on a rock, hurdling through space in orbit around a star." He said to Ire laughing. "Let's get moving Ire. Don't want to upset Trip." “I’ve done enough of that as it is.” " See you in the hangars. " Ravok walked to Warbird One where Baker was already on board finalizing preflight checks. When Ravok entered the cockpit. He took his seat. " Well Baker, you ready to take her down ?" He asked as he transferred helm controls to Crewman Baker. Baker looked at him with shock. " Sir?" He questioned. Ravok looked at him. " Look,I'm going to be straight with you. Revoking your flight status was wrong of me. I was angry and I wanted to punish you for being out right racist to me in front of the squadron. You didn't respond to this punishment with anger or resistance. In fact you are the best flight officer on mars. I even consider a friend. With that being said I'm returning you to full active flight duty. Your priority will be piloting Warbird One and the Raptor. We will rotate. I truly meant what I said when I told you I wanted you to be my second in command. Baker smiled " Thank you sir, I don't know what to say" " Well you can start with telling ground control we are on our way and make room for the dynamic duo" Ravok said with a smile." Baker communicated with ground control and before long Warbird One was on it's way out of the hangar and reentering the atmosphere of mars ,with The type 6 being remotely controlled by Ravok. Ire nodded as Ravok watched Warbird One and the Type 6 shuttle leave the hanger and tapped his comm badge. “Ensign Williams to TIC. Warbird One and Shuttlecraft Sierra 12 departing Mystique for transit planet side.” =^=This is TIC understood Ensign Williams. We will clear him a flight path with Orbital Control=^= He looked over to where the Chief was crossing the hanger beside him was a woman wearing a helmet. What caught him to stop was the face that the full face visor was tinted red and he could see the reflection of himself in it as she walked up to him. “Sir this is Contractor Sonnlo Caonrobh she is your Flight Officer.” Ire nodded and put out his hand which Sonnlo shook. He had been expecting her since they had docked and was glad that she made her way to the ship. “Good to have you with us. We are nearly ready for taking the fighter down. If you want to get oriented with her. She is the one closest to the hanger exit. I’ll be with you in a moment.” “Yes sir.” Sonnlo straitened to attention but did not salute and moved off towards Lucky Thirteen. Ire turned back to the Chief. “How much more do we have left?” “We are almost done. I have the last sweep and check to make sure we have not left anything and then we are going down.” “Okay I’ll take Lucky Thirteen down and check with the Boss who will be taking Ares One down. See you planet side Chief.” He nodded to the Chief as he turned headed towards his Lucky Thirteen. The door closed with then inside and Tagh really hopped that nothing was going to happen to the young security officer as once Sytuk had a purpose you either helped or got out of his way. After a few moments the young security officer exited looking rather irritated. He stepped over to him and spoke. “Good afternoon. My name is Tagh Caonrobh I have an appointment to see Ensign Peters.” The security guard swung round and looked into Tagh’s face plate. As a Selkie he was use to getting strange looks especially when with his face plate set to dark as it was now. He could hear the faint whine of his pumps sending the oxygen rich water around his suit as he waited for the security officer to speak. “Umm yes sir. If you could just wait here. He will see you soon.” Tagh nodded know that his facial features were obscured and moved over to where he was indicated. He smiled to himself as he noticed that Security officer kept giving him sideways glances. His sister’s helmet has a full-face visor which she at the moment was tinted red but it was reflective enough for the person to see their own face reflected back at them when they spoke to her. He glanced at the door where he had seen Sytuk enter and waited to see what would happen when he exited. The Void Haunters were patrolling the skies of mars. Suddenly 4 attack flew straight up in a completely vertical flight path. They were flying in a tight formation and released an illuminated particle stream into the atmosphere creating a column of light that seemed to rise from the surface straight into the skies of Mars. Ravok opened a channel as he smiled at the sight before them. " Warbird One to ground control. We are enroute ETA 2 minutes " =/\= Copy that Ensign Ravok, Welcome back=/\= " Thank you ground control, it's good to be home." Ravok replied Ire smiled to himself as he saw the Void Haunters came past Warbird One. He had known that they were patrolling the system but had not known that they were around Mars. he made a mental note to have a quiet chat to flight lead when they were back from their patrol. He glanced over at his new flight officer. She appeared to know her way around the fighter but had been mostly quiet on the way down which was not surprising as they had only met a short while ago. He maneuvered the fighter on a descent through the atmosphere and he could see Warbird One and the shuttle ahead of him. He opened the comms channel “Voud Haunter One to ground control. We are enroute ETA 3 minutes.” =/\= Copy that Ensign Williams, Welcome back=/\= "Thank you ground control, it's good to be home." Replied Ire and he smiled as he saw the large complex that was home appear in front of him. Baker flew Warbird one into the Hangar and landed it . The remotely controlled shuttlecraft landed on an exterior landing pad. Ravok unwrapped his seat restraints and exited the fighter. Stepping on the ground he felt a little nauseous. He walked over to main door of the Hanger and looked up at the martian sky, he could see Ire flying back to his hangar. Ravok heard commotion behind him, he turned and saw the faces of pretty much everyone in his squadron. They began welcoming him back. " Thank you , it's good to be back " he said as he joyfully shook hands a few of them " Trevi!!! " Ravok yelled out. As he approached. " Been keeping them on their toes? " Ravok asked him. " What good would I be if I didn't Sir?" Ravok smiled " You'd be completely useless." He said jokingly as others laughed. " It's good to see you all I'm gonna catch up with , Ensign Williams " he said as he started walking away. " Which one ? The boss or Crash ?" One of them asked and Ravok stopped in his tracks and turned around as the laughter settled down. " I don't care who just asked that, but I don't want to hear any of you call him that again. That's an order, have I made myself clear?" Ravok said to them in a commanding tone. He felt bad for being apart of the creation of the nickname he had even said it in the interview with Elsie. He wasn't innocent himself, but knew it was wrong. " Yes sir!" They responded in unison. " Good. " Ravok replied as he headed to Ire's location.... Ire settled the fighter on to her allocated landing spot and powered down. “Thank you for that.” Sonnlo looked over at him and he could see his face reflected at him. “Yes Sir.” “We are back on standby at 0600 tomorrow and flying from 1200 till 1800 every day. If you want to get your self settled and I can see you tomorrow.” “Yes sir.” He saw her nod as she unbuckled herself from her set and exited the fighter. He took a deep sigh and ran his hand across the console. “Thank you too.” With that he got him self out of his seat and dropped through the hatch on to the hanger floor. He saw Senior Chief Tyrol walk up to him. “How was the trip sir?” Ire smiled. “It was good thank you.” “I see you brought her back on one peace Sir.” Ire shook his head at him. “Yes Chief I did as you can see.” He paused for a moment before he spoke. “How is your new Flight Officer?” He gave him a searching look. “She appears to be good at her job. Was there a problem with the other flight officers in rotation? Sick!” “Um yes sir.” Tyrol could not meet his eye but held out a PADD to him. “Your signature Sir. For the Thirteen.” Ire did not push the subject as it was not the Chiefs fault. He took the PADD and signed so that he was relinquishing responsibility of Lucky Thirteen back to the support staff. “Okay see you in the morning.” He nodded to the Chief and headed off to find Ravok. The engines that had powered their flight to and from their first assignment were now cold. Everyone was well on the way to packing up what needed to be packed up. All the officers and crew of engineering were up and ready to disembark. “Computer begin log.” She ordered and the computer chirped the affirmative. “Acting Chief Engineer’s log USS Mystique, stardate 2444.07.08 the time is,” she glanced at the chronometer, “approximately 1700 hours. Ensign Keira Merek reporting.” A sigh escaped, “This will be my final entry as the chief engineer aboard this vessel. I don’t know exactly what they plan on doing with her, perhaps decommissioned? Moth-balled? I don’t know. This experience has taught me something. It’s taught me that Starfleet is where I belong. With this crew, hopefully. The friends the…..relationships I’ve made along the way. Is something I can’t imagine replacing.” She cleared her throat, “Right, back to business. Currently all generators on board have been deactivated, and we are running on “shore power”. We are scheduled to download remaining deuterium and antimatter reserves tomorrow morning. I estimate all things supplies and equipment will be downloaded by 2000 hours, as I informed the engineering staff that they were on break for the rest of the night once that was accomplished.” There was a slight pause, then she continued, “As to the entity known as Luma, my understanding is she will be transferred to the Mars computer core, in light of that Vex has been assigned that duty, honor? Of bringing her to her new home. If the Mystique is to be decommissioned I will do everything in my power to appropriate the computer core to add to Mars Station and ensure Luma has plenty of room to roam. I’m told that the phaser defense satellite grid I designed before we left is ready to launch. That will give us something to do before we get our next orders. Additionally given our scans of the Andorian vessel and some of my own ideas, there are some ways we can upgrade the Odyssey class USS Republic’s systems. I’ve opened the table to others in engineering, tactical and science for ways we can improve all of our systems. As to the Mystique. She was a good ship. Made good time to Trill, got to stretch her legs a bit. It’s a shame we never got to see what she could really do.” She said and for a moment she was quiet. Taking it all in. Main Engineering was now empty. “End log. Nothing follows.” She said and the computer chirped. “Computer, archive one copy here and one copy on Mars.” The computer chirped again. That was a peripheral consideration at the moment though, first there was the matter of transporting Luma'Lenai which was the purpose of his visit. This would not be done without proper consideration however which was why he tapped his combadge. "Ensign Vex'ahlia Jordaan would you come to the primary computer core please?" (Reply: Vex, Luma) Sekal set the toolkit on a nearby console and cupped his hands at the small of his back to answer the Lenai. "The crew is preparing to disembark and as you are a member of the crew it is your time as well." (Reply: Luma) "Removing three of the bio neural gel packs has been our working theory but I have been considering another hypothesis which might simplify the transfer if you are receptive to it." (Reply: Luma) The door opened as Ensign Jordaan entered and Sekal gave her a nod. "Ensign as I am certain Luma has been sharing our conversation I will continue where I left off." He then did so. "The body of Luma'Lenai was a crystalline form and while I have no shards to study I can logically extrapolate some parameters. There is much however that is theoretical therefore I would like to perform an experiment. If it is successful it will greatly simplify the moving of Luma from one platform to the next." (Reply: Vex, Luma) He opened the toolkit and removed the Anelurian Crystal then held it up, small flashes of blue glinting from it facets as the object was moved. "With this." (Reply: Luma, Vex) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Mystique - Deck 7 - ENG/OPS, Ens(jg) Vex'ahlia Jordaan - 1708) Vex was working out her frustrations by walking the corridors of the Mystique and chatting with Luma about the difference of live onboard a Starship and live onboard a static base. The nuances were difficult to explain and she only hoped they'd be able to show them to her once they managed to move her consciousness, it wasn't going to be an easy task however. On the return journey they had conceived of a plan where they would remove the bio neural gel packs from the Mystique during the moth-ball process and since Luma was effectively living inside of them, they would then be integrated into the computer core on the main Mars base and she'd become apart of the base, as she had on the ship. It was in elegant and nothing more than an educated guess on how Luma's pyche worked but she and Sekal were fairly confident in the idea. Vex had dreams of perhaps one day, being able to synthesize a body for Luma to inhabit and take control of- if she fancied, but they were nothing but ideas at this juncture. The important job now was safely removing her from the ship. =^=Ensign Vex'ahlia Jordaan would you come to the primary computer core please?=^= Sekals voice came over the comm system. She tapped her badge, "I'll be their momentarily." Vex said, she was however only around the corner. Luma showed Vex Sekal stood in the computer room and relayed to her the conversation they were having as she walked to her destination. "Ensign as I am certain Luma has been sharing our conversation I will continue where I left off." He then did so "The body of Luma'Lenai was a crystalline form and while I have no shards to study I can logically extrapolate some parameters. There is much however that is theoretical therefore I would like to perform an experiment. If it is successful it will greatly simplify the moving of Luma from one platform to the next." Vex was intrigued, she could see that Luma shared her interest, "and how do you suggest we do this? Unless you've come across new information on the crystalline form?" Sekal didn't respond immediately, he began to open his toolkit which was laying on the floor and then lifted out a crystal which glinted blue as it hit the light. Vex took an automatic step forward and her eyes squinted as she began to take in the crystal. She'd heard Sekal was doing research around a crystal based energy, but hadn't thought too look much further into it, assuming that since both of them were working on ideas on how to move Luma, he would have mentioned it previously if it had been important. "With this." Sekal said as he held it in his hand. Instinctively Vex reached out with her mind, just as she felt Luma doing the same, she didn't feel anything unusual around the crystal as she did, "and what makes you think we could use this crystal to aid in the transfer of Luma's consiciousness?" (Reply Sekal, Luma) "Hmm." Vex said as she studied what he'd said, "I mean, the theory stands up. would we need an interface built for the transfer?" (Reply Sekal, Luma) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (USS Mystique - Deck 7 - Primary computer core- aACSO(R), Ensign (jg) Sekal- 1710) "And what makes you think we could use this crystal to aid in the transfer of Luma's consiciousness?" "A logical question...", the Vulcan replied as he moved toward the computer core, "... this crystal is extremely hard, the crystal latticework of its formation compact and it is efficient at energy transfer as has been demonstrated on many occasions." He turned his head to Vex. "It would appear to be quite effective as a vessel for Luma's life force... in theory." "Hmm." the Betazoid considered before replying, "I mean, the theory stands up. would we need an interface built for the transfer?" "That would appear to have already been provided by Captain Winters and her first officer." He gestured to the arrangement of three stanchions like claws that extended from the top of the computer core. "This base originally held the crystal that was Luma's body and the slot cut into the top of the core is a channel for her life force. If the crystal I hold is effective then we need only construct a similar design into the computer core in the science annex. Luma can then transfer her consciousness into the bio neural gel packs of the base primary computer through the interface until we can procure enough of these that she can choose another body from among them." (Reply: Vex, Luma) "Affirmative. This will be a transfer device only for now if it works but Luma may choose one for herself in the future from among others. This crystal is of extreme research interest at this time and experimentation on it could endanger her." (Reply: Vex, Luma) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Mystique - Deck 7 - Primary computer core- Entity Luma'lenai- 1712) There was so much excitement coming from Luma that made the room vibrate. She listened to her exceptionally talented mind-bondmate speak with the Sekal and Luma was excited. The crystal that the Sekal held was gorgeous and Luma wished that it was already in the interface device. =^= The Sekal will place his crystal into the interface device designed by the Sekal's father, the Saleke. Luma will give Vex the specifications. The Vanyssa knew what Luma was, and if this crystal works, Vex will be able to carry Luma with her, such as a piece of jewelry. Well maybe not in that crystal. A smaller one might work. Illuminar often carried pieces of their Eimsadi in the crystals. They would carry the crystal for a long time, and imprint emotions upon them then have them put into jewelry. =^= Luma often dropped tidbits of knowledge now and then. As Luma waited for Sekal to put the crystal into the device, the space entity realized how happy she was. She had a talented mind-bondmate, she had a ship and got a chance to take care of many young small ones. She enjoyed being around life and nurturing it. And learning from them. (reply Sekal, Vex) (posted by Mel) (Mars facility – First fighter Wing -Pilots Ensign JG Ire Williams & Ensign JG Ravok- 1713) Ravok entered the center of the complex and noticed Ire already on his way toward him " I'm glad you made it down in one piece." “Ha, ha very funny.” " Baker is on his way back up to get Ares one." “Thanks that is appreciated. Once Ares is down that should be everything and everyone off the Mystique.” " Sounds going to me….one thing though earlier on the bridge I heard your communication with Trip. " he said as he pointed to his ears. Ire groaned and shook his head. “We are going to have to plug those ears of yours so that you can’t hear anything.” Ravok laughed. " No it's nothing bad Ire, as far as I'm concerned I'm off duty till tomorrow. I was going to ask if you had time after you had a drink with Trip if you wanted to hit the local bar off base. The Canton , is the name ." Ire smiled. “Yes I think I can pull myself away from my busy schedule…… of course that would be great. I have not been to the Canton before.” " I went once , it was ok. I tell you what I will talk with Trip maybe we could all go " “That sounds like a good idea. He did say that it was an open invitation but I guess that would be to us and not everyone esle.” " I think it would best if it was just us anyway. Take some time to really celebrate how far we have come. Really spend time together out of these uniforms. Throw back some drinks and listen to some tunes. Guys night. " “Yes it's been crazy and non-stop since we all arrived with getting the squadron off the ground and then going to Trill it's been mental that’s for sure. It will be good to relax for a little bit anyway before the craziness starts tomorrow.” He gave Ravok a slight grin. “And then it will be back to the grid stone.” Ravok nodded his head with a smile. " I'll talk with Trip. Run it by him. Let's say we meet at up at 2000?" “Okay 2000 sound fine. I will see you there.” " I'll see you later Ire. " They both nodded at each other and went back to their respective hangars to further assist where they could. ( reply none ) ( posted by Davis & Robbie ) (Mars facility – Section C Room 103-Shara Family Quarters Ensign JG Ravok- 1750) Having finished everything he needed to he finally made his back to his quarters. The doors opened and to his surprise everything was pretty much how he had left. His step mother Kora wasnt known for being the most organized of people. He stepped in a few more feet and the doors shut behind him. He carried his bags in to his room and sat them on his bed . ~ Good to be back ~ he thought as he walked back out in to the living room area, Kora was standing there. She walked over to him with that all too familiar Klingon smile and gave him huge hug. " Lathuel, Welcome back my son" she said to him, but he didnt return the hug he just looked at her. " What's wrong ? What happened? Who was it ?" She questioned with fury. He just looked at her and walked past her and over to the replicator " Water 15 degrees Celsius " He said and a glass of water appeared. He grabbed the water and turned and walked toward his desk and sat down, placing his at the far end of the desk. Closest to Kora . " Take a seat" he said with anger in his eyes. Kora noted the water was placed on the edge of the desk away from him. This was a Romulan way of showing that something was seriously wrong . " Lathuel, Wha..." he cut her off from speaking " Sit down, now" he said again but this time with force. She knocked the glass off the table and slammed her fist down " I'm your mother, how dare you speak to me like that !" She roared at him. Ravok glared at her " No you're not. My mother died the day in was born. My mother was murdered by the Tal Shiar . MY MOTHER WAS TAL SHIAR!!!" He yelled and jumped out of his seat. Staring Kora right in the eyes. Kora's lip quivered. " What are you talking about ?" She questioned. Pain striking her klingon heart. His words wounding her very soul. " Don't pretend you didn't know. Her ' Accident' wasn't an accident at all. She was a former Tal Shiar operative and they killed her because she had given the federation information on Romulan singularity warp drive technology. Don't tell me you didn't know that." Kora looked up at the ceiling with only her eyes and let out a deep breath. " When you were very young 4 maybe 5 years old your father told me something and swore me to secrecy. He made me swear on my honor as a klingon. He told me the truth of your mother. He told me the Tal Shiar murdered her because she escaped. With the help of another Tal Shiar agent she gathered secret information and handed it over to the federation for citizenship. It was granted to her. Therefore it was granted to you. Not even a month after gaining her citizenship she was murdered. Near a Romulan republic outpost . Her body was recovered and beyond all odds you were still alive in her womb. They rescued you just in time. " Ravok sat back down and leaned back in the chair " Why didn't you tell me this ? You and I were closer than my father and I were. I trusted you with everything in my life. I came to you about everything , poured the contents of my heart out to you every ...single...time. " Kora hung her head " As a Klingon my honor meant everything to me. I tarnished it the moment I chose to hide a secret from you. Lathuel, I never bore my own children because I had you. No matter how you feel ,you are my son. I bathed you , I changed you. I was there when you took your first steps. I gave you all I had to give. Everyday I carried the burden of keeping this from you. After I learned this I started training you with a bat'leth, the damn thing was nearly bigger than you." She said with a brief laugh as she shook her head . " Your father hated it, I told that miserable old fool that if you were going to call me mom , you were going to learn the art of the Bat'leth. He gave me some lecture about how every Shara who learned the art of combat became a stain upon his families name. " Kora said " What did you say to him?" Ravok asked " You dont want to know " she replied with a awkward face. He nodded his head. " Yes I do " " I asked him , what's a bigger stain on his family name , His son learning to defend himself or the fact that he beds a klingon woman 2 sometimes even 3 times a day..." Ravok's threw his hands over his face " Ok , you were right. I didn't need to know that....that many times a day ? Oh what the hell...that's...I could of lived the rest of my life not knowing that" " Well, Romulans have a lot of ...power to their warp drives " Kora responded. Ravok jumped up out of his chair ." Mom! That's enough" Kora clapped her hands together loudly " Oh look how quick I have once again become your mother. " she said laughing. Ravok looked at her. " Is there anything else. I should know...about me? " She looked at him. " I'm moving out, well moved out I havent been here over the past week much I moved closer to main Engineering . Speaking of that hold on " Kora ran into what used her room and emerged back out into the living room area holding a large object covered in authentic animal skins. She laid it on his desk. He looked as she uncovered it. Before his eyes was a Bat'leth. Kora picked it up and gave it several fast twirls around her body and few flips. " Its authentic from the homeworld." She flipped up toward his face to reveal the markings on it. The markings were in old Klingon. Ravok read the markings out loud " Forged in the fires of honor. Forged in the house of Kal'Beroth." He looked at Kora with shock. " Your house. How did you get this ?" He questioned. " Well apparently my father died nearly a year ago and now my brother leads our house. He welcomed me back. My honor restored in the eyes of the empire " Kora replied with a huge smile. " I'm happy for you " Ravok said smiling ear to ear for her . " This is one of three he sent me " An inquisitive look swept across his face " Why three ? " Ravok questioned Kora smiled " Hes made a rather aggressive move. He welcomed me back into the house and has extended the invitation to any children of mine...You Lathuel, hes offered you an opportunity to join." Ravok shook his head " I'm a Romulan. Such a move would completely discredit the entire house. " " Not necessarily, throughout the history of the empire exceptions have been made. You have completed the rite of accension, you declared yourself as Ravok son of Kora. You honored klingon tradition. You have been in battle and above all else you have taken on the extraordinary task of becoming a starfleet officer. All of these things carry weight. Years ago a Ferengi was part of a klingon house." Kora responded " Its not a good idea for your house. " Ravok said as he laughed slightly. Kora walked over to him and grabbed both of his hands firmly. " Your father was well respected in the empire. He had alot of friends. He made friends wherever he went because he proved himself a loyal and trustworthy man. A man with honor. You went to battle and avenged his death. Others have been granted rites based on far less. " He looked down at their hands and back up to her " I will...consider it ." She smiled at him " Thank you" she said as she hugged him. This time he hugged her back. He pulled away from the hug " What about the third bat'leth?" He asked " That one I had made for Ensign Merek."Kora responded with a smile. " You didn't..?" " Oh no no . One Romulan is enough, two would look like an invasion. " Kora laughed. He laughed with her. " The only way we'd come to that is if you accept joining the house and you were to marry her, then she would have claim as your wife." Ravok's eyes widened " Mother, do me a favor. Don't bring that up to her. We are taking it slow and steady. " " Trust me I know, it's a Romulan thing. You take slow and steady, then Boom out of nowhere you cant keep your hands off each other." Kora said laughing loudly " Alright that's enough" he said as he shook his head at his step mother antics " I will give Ensign Merek the bat'leth, when we aren't on duty. " " Good I dont want people thinking you are getting special treatment " Ravok stated . Kora laughed. " Ensign Merek and I have a great understanding of each others abilities. I know how to do my job with little guidance . She signs off an a to do list and I get it done. I will bring her bat'leth to her later." " Sounds good, I'm going to unpack and shower" He said Kora looked at the bat'leth on his desk " that one is yours Lathuel " she said with a smile as she turned and left his quarters. After she left he picked up the bat'leth and gave it a few gentle twirls around his body. Then he got carried away and started doing more complex and forceful movements. The bat'leth flew from his hand and went across the room and cracked the viewscreen on his wall. " Oh no" he tapped his commbadge. " Computer, please put in a repair ticket with maintenance for a cracked view screen in my quarters" =/\= Acknowledged =/\= ( reply none) ( posted by Davis) (Mars Facility - Admiral's Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell - 1800) Remae had made it back to his office after leaving the Mystique. He had the chance to tour the ship one more time before breaming back to Mars and his inevitable return to his office. He had little chance for a break, but there was time for more paperwork, and of course, he still needed a little chat with Ire about what happened on Trill. The reports had he receive one thing, but he needed to speak to the officer who dealt with the incident while he was on Trill. "Admiral Remae to Ensigns Carson and Trip Williams, could you report to my office for a moment?", he said. The comm-system relayed his message; he could see that systems on Mars were working, but after the comfort of a fully functioning ship, the adjustment was going to take a little bit of time. (Reply from Carson and Trip) He sat down and began to look at some of the comm-traffic that had built up, and he yelled out, "Billy, anything important I need to care about?", he said to the outer office. No doubt, but this time, Billy had checked everything and prioritised anything he needed to know. (Reply from Billy) When he replied, there were a few essential messages, and one needed his urgent attention, "Open a channel and close the door.", he said as Billy went to work and his door closed, just as the head of Starfleet appeared on his terminal. The message decoded in front of him, the parts coming together, and then, the image came to life. =^= Admiral. =^= ~ Chatty as always ~ =^= Glad to see you back, during your return trip, the Council has been debating your new Trill Starbase, I take it, it's not going to be a small affair? =^= "Not sure yet sir, my Engineers don't even have the project specifications yet, let alone, what the base is going end up being. In my estimation, it's not going to be big built as I believe Trill would like it up and running as soon as possible.", he said to the Commanding in Chief. =^= Your report indicated it would be run by Starfleet but also, combined the talents of Trill and Andoria. =^= His tone wasn't great and seemed to dismiss the idea as a non-starter but Remae held his ground, "Aye sir. We'd administer the base as a place of contact for all the races in that area of space. However, Trill is actually supplying the bulk of the raw materials." =^= I wasn't interested in a construction report. The critical thing to remember is, Starfleet isn't what it once was. We do not have cadets pouring in to the Academy and senior staff are limited. To staff this base, in the time-frame you've indicated well, Admiral, that means we'll be unable to supply you with anyone senior, anytime soon. =^= "I guess that means.", said Remae before the CINC came in and finished his sentence, =^= You are on your own =^= The channel closed and Remae spun in his chair, "Suits me.", he said and yelled out again at Billy, "I need the duty roster." (Mars Facility - Admiral's Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell - 1830) Remae had the roster the way he wanted it but, as always, he had considered the recommendations from his department heads. Posting their crew reports, suggestions and other information was always useful and guided his choices. "Admiral to all senior officers, there will be a debriefing and meeting in the Operations Centre Conference Room tomorrow at 0900.", he said and send the message around. It wasn't a live broadcast and could be collected by his officers when they checked their messages. "Okay, Billy, what's next?", he said to his long-suffering-assistant. He was hoping to just move on from doing incident reports about Ire's, well for lack of a better term, Shenanigans. Ire was a good person, just sometimes got a little to passionate. Which was fine, passion was important. Trip just wished he could have spent this time organzing some ideas of his. Ravok had invited him and Ire out for drinks, something that Trip was looking forward to. However he invited two party crashesrs, Greta and new acquisition Reena Dezza. He had an idea for a pilot's exercise he wanted to take place the following day and this was a great way to introduce it. Nodding to Carson, Trip smiled. "What is the old saying, no rest for the wicked, right?" We're here to see the Admiral," Carson said as they approached. Trip looked at his cousin. "Let me guess, the old Admiral has already hit the ground running huh." Billy nodded and then waved the two in. "After you," Trip then gestured for Carson to go first. Sometimes it was pretty exciting, such as preparing strategy and talking points for interplanetary negotiations. Other times it was stressful or dull, such as checking mail or delivering bad news. It was the latter that seemed to be the mood the Admiral was in, having sort of been delivered bad news. There would be no senior officers sent to Mars. So the Ensign Brigade would be running the show, for at least a little bit longer. Billy had gotten the admiral the Duty roster and sat quietly on the couch opposite the Admiral's desk as he continued to sort through the pile up of messages. When the Admiral had finished sending his message to the Senior Staff he looked up at Billy. "Okay, Billy, what's next?", he said to his long-suffering-assistant. "Let's see, umm the local government would like you at a ribbon cutting ceremony next week for the reopening of one of the local factories. Now that we're getting things up and running here, some of the local industrial production is picking back up. Starfleet is signing civilian contracts for raw materials and what not to help with getting the Shipyards up and running, and they want you there. Don't worry, they'll provide the Giant Scissors. What else, I've sent a note to your yeomen Jenny, she'll make sure you have a clean and pressed dress uniform to go back to Earth. Don't worry I can handle my own uniform. Ummm, what else, your wife keeps sending poetry. She's getting better. I think that is it." (reply Remae) Billy then smiled. He had always made friends better than she did, and expressed it in ways others can understand. Keira, not so much. She decided she’d run an old, but famous copy of a holodeck program she’d obtained while at the academy. She found it worked when she needed to blow off some steam. At some point she’d find the time to tweak it and make her own version, between the academy and now her duties as acting assistant chief engineer there wasn’t any to be had yet. “Load calisthenics program. 03-992” She said. [Program loaded, you may enter when ready] The holodeck double doors opened to reveal a dilapidated stone ruins on a forgotten jungle world. Early morning mist clung heavily to the ground. Despite the bright sun fighting through the rain forest canopy the world’s two moons could still be seen in the sky amongst a lavender backdrop of sky. A selection of melee weapons were available on a rack to the one side. She ignored them, and waited for her opponent to arrive. She didn’t have to wait long. Soon a skull faced opponent supposedly some mythological Klingon demon silently stepped through the jungle foliage carrying a Bat’leth. She spun around her hands empty for now. The beast roared a guttural blood curdling scream, the stench of rotting flesh spewed forth from it’s wickedly fanged jaws. She dropped into a defensive stance and extended her left palm out and waived him in. ~Bring it you mythological bastard.~ The beast cleared the distance quickly leading with his shoulder then taking a powerful great swing with the blade in his hands. Once he committed to his attack she easily dodged the telegraphed swing and faced him. He travelled a short distance and realizing he missed used his momentum to roll and twist so he was in an instant facing his opponent. His second approach was less reckless and more measured. He closed the distance and did a few probing strikes, a hit would be a bonus but that was not his goal, which was to gauge reaction. Each probing strike brought him closer and closer. Keira dodged each waiting for an opportunity. As he came in closer she stepped on the opposite side of his swing, she could now smell his putrid breath. As he was attempting to recover she reached underneath his blade before he could perform a blade-check and grabbed the middle handle she pulled down and away from him forcing both of his wrists in an uncomfortable angle, she grabbed her handle with her second hand executing a hard front kick pulling the Bat’leth away from him and sending the creature tumbling. She threw the blade to the side it clattered to the stone floor with a clang. By this time the beast had spun around to face her again. Anger in his eyes from being disarmed, he charged. His arms set wide in an attempt to grapple. The close quarters of the ruins and the arm span of the beast didn’t allow her to dodge, so she met his charge drawing her talon-like blade before the distance was completely closed. He wrapped her up in a grapple and began pushing her back deeper into the ruins. She pushed off with her legs toward her left and lifted with her right arm taking him off his feet as they spun she viciously stabbed at his ribcage three times before they slammed to the ground. Stunned from the attacks to his side, his grip lessened enough for her to get free. She stood up for an instant bringing her right fist and blade up high and brought it down with all the force her strength, weight and gravity could put on it. Her punch connected with his abdomen forcing air out and stunning him again. She rotated her fist in causing the talon to bite deep. She followed through extending her arm out tearing across his abdomen disemboweling him. His entrails spilled out on to the stone floor before the figure disappeared leaving no trace. She tool a short breather, knowing her next opponent would be here soon. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) (Mars Base - , Holodeck 3,- SO, Ensign (jg) Adala Michaels - 2010) Adala stood before the holodeck door again, this time not only geared with her flashlights on their shoulder mounts but another one attached to her belt. She was not going to get caught in the dark again. She’d checked the batteries of all of them and they were well charged. There should be no mishaps this time. With a deep breath she tapped the keypad and entered the holodeck when the door slid opened. The scene much the same as it was the last time she’d entered the holodeck. The cliff houses rising above her, their entries dark. The slant of the sun the only thing having changed, it was now mid afternoon and she knew she’d have to hurry to get to the top before darkness set in. She moved to the rock face and slowly and methodically moved upwards. Above her eyes watched her again, a sly smile crossing his face. -Welcome back little one- he thought as he slid out of sight and moved back into the darkness. She kept moving, one hand above the other, her feet following suit, up and up she went. The door just above her head, her goal, she had entered it the last time she was here, and had just left it as the lights had gone out. Determined to make it through the program this time, without mishap she kept going, pushing herself harder than before. It became a race, at least in her mind. To finish the scenario before anything could happen to stop her like last time. (15 minutes later) Adala had arrived at the door, pulled herself into the room and taking her time scanned the room, kneeling beside what appeared to be a pile of cloth, her curiosity peaked. This had not been there the last time. She slowly opened the bundle and gasped. Inside she found a small figurine, something that appeared to be an arrowhead and a bundle of herbs. ~What is this?~ she thought as she wrapped the items back up and pocketed the bundle. She scanned the floor, looking for disturbances, anything to indicate which direction the owner of the bundle had gone. -- Was this part of the program or something else -- Adala had felt the hair on the back of her neck prickle but she shook it off. She figured it was jitters from her last trip to the holodeck. Not seeing anything that indicated a direction of passage on the floor she headed for the door, and into the corridor beyond, the one where she’d been plunged into darkness. ~ Don’t go out, don’t go out ~ she kept saying to herself, or rather to the flashlights, the one at her belt, now in her hand. She’d use it for a club if needed. A shiver ran down her spine as she remembered the blackness and the sense she was not alone. That feeling again pervading the space. She moved slowly along the corridor, scanning the floor and the walls. Stopping at the first door on the right and slowly entering. A slight gasp escaped her lips as she found the room empty except for a still smoldering fire ring, then a smile. She knelt beside the fire and gazed around the room. This time she saw what appeared to be small footprints in the dust, leading to a small door on the opposite side of the room. She rose and moved smoothly to the door, peering around the corner into the corridor beyond. Moving deeper into the maze of rooms and corridors she followed the foot prints, whomever they belonged to was not running, she followed suit, but moved with caution. With these programs she never knew what she’d encounter. (some time later) Adala had followed the footfalls, which she had begun to hear as she moved along, realizing she was catching up to whomever was ahead of her. She slowed and peered into the room ahead. A figure stood, leaning against the wall opposite the door. There appeared to be no other exit from the room. She slowly entered the room, cautious, eyes on the figure. They stood staring at each other for a minute or two. The figure dressed in leather leggings and a tunic, his feet covered in leather boots which reached to his knees. They stood in silence each, taking in the other. She shook her head as she heard a voice …. In her head ~Who are you? Why do you follow me?~ Adala slowly pulled the small leather pouch from her pocket and held it out. In a low voice “Does this belong to you?” The young man's eyes lowered to the pouch and his eyes grew wide. “Where did you find that?” he asked as he moved forward to carefully and slowly take it from her hand. His fingers lightly touching her hand as he did. A ripple of electricity ran from her hand and up her arm. She pulled back and shook her arm, the tingling causing her fingers to go numb. They once again stood, watching each other, she slowly backed out of the room and moved so he could leave the room, he moved slowly and eventually stepped into the hall. “Follow me” he said and turned on his heel to move down the corridor, in the direction they had been heading. They moved in silence for several minutes until he slipped through a crack in the wall of the corridor and vanished. Adala turned the corner and was met with utter blackness. She stifled a cry as she felt herself float or appear to float within the blackness. -Welcome home little one. I have missed you- Adala screamed … a soundless scream. The pain started slowly at first, nothing but a dull ache, filling her whole body. --- Adala had no idea how long she’d been standing there, the door of the holodeck open, the scenario apparently had finished. She shook her head and with a deep breath stepping out of the doorway, which closed behind her. .. and so it begins ... Having been back to her quarters to pick up her longbow, quiver and short sword, she walked towards the holodeck, intent on running her own programme. “Computer, load programme Cortez 2 beta.” =/\= A programme is already running.=/\= Raising an eyebrow, Erin sighed, “Who is running the programme?” =/\= Ensign Keira Merek =/\= came the reply A smile came over her face. ~This should be interesting~ she thought to herself as she entered the holodeck. Stepping cautiously through the ruins that were around her, Erin looked up to the sky and saw the twin moons. Suddenly, she heard the unmistakable sounds of a fight somewhere close. Drawing an arrow from her quiver, she placed it into the bow and crept forward. Watching for a moment, she saw Keira, fighting some creature. ~Girl’s got talent. She needs it to keep up with Ravok.~ she thought as she watched. As the fight ended and the beast lay slain on the ground, Erin crept to slightly higher ground within the ruins and took aim. Shooting an arrow just before Keira’s feet, she stood tall and shouted, “You must be Keira.” (Reply Merek) “Erin, Erin Cortez.” (reply Merek) (Reply Merek, Any) (Posted by Jackie) (Mars – The Canton Bar-aFSXO Ensign jg. Trip Williams& Pilots Ensign JG Ire Williams & Ensign JG Ravok , Ensign JG Greta Smith & Ensign(jg) Reene Dezza - 2030) Ravok had sent a message to Trip asking to part take in the drink offer he threw at Ire earlier on the Mystique. Ravok's request was granted and he suggested the venue of, The Canton. It was an off base bar frequented by most of the pilots in the fighter wing as a place to really let loose or lay low. The bar was a blend of 21st and early 22nd Earth century culture. From the drink names to the music playing to the very decoration of the place. They had arrived via private shuttle. Ravok was wearing black jeans, black boots, a black tshirt and his black leather jacket, black was most certainly his color. He glanced around the semi packed bar. Music was playing on the audio system. " Well Gentleman, here we are " Trip looked around. Ever the stylish of the trio, he was wearing blue jeans, a red button down, untucked, with a black undershirt, a black leather jacket, canvas shoes, and aviator sunglasses that had been tucked into his shirt. “So this is the Canton, I never got to get out here due to the whole, well house arrest situation. Seems like the Spartans are taking over. Ire smiled at Trips comment. “It's nice to finally get here. I heard about this place but managed to get here.” Ravok wasted no time heading to the bar.Taking a seat. The young human bartender noticed the three of them and moved down to them. She pointed to a small drink menu. " These are the specials here, What can I start you boys off with tonight ? " she asked. “I’ll take one of the ones you have on draught, the uhh, wheat one, what is it, the Golden Persephone, yeah, I’ll have a pint of that.” Ravok looked at the drink menu, listed at the bottom in bold lettering it said ' No Romulan Ale' . ~ That's disappointing ~ he thought. " Give me strongest….Rum you have. Make a Rum and cola. " Ire paused for a moment and then nodded. “ Gin and tonic please.” The bartender took their Drink orders. " I'll be right back with those. My name is Sarah by the way. " she said with a smile. As she gathered their pure unreplicated drinks. Trip took his beer and then sat down. “So are we talking business or are we talking fun?” Ravok grabbed his drink and removed the straw throwing it on a napkin." No business, we have all been nothing business for over a month. I think it's much needed and well deserved if we all just took a little time to enjoy a good night" Ravok said as he looked at both of them. Ire was on the right, Trip was in the middle, and Ravok was on the left. Ire smiled and nodded to the others as he sipped his drink. “Sounds like a plan.” "That's a shame. Because I've got business to discuss. Which is why I invited some party crashers." Ravok took a gulp of his drink. " You're the boss Sir." He said with a nod of his glass and smile. Ire nodded. “No problem.” "Good, because I invited Greta and Reena. Not sur if you've met her yet. She joined us on Trill. Was in the Trill Defense force I believe. Pilot. Got a Starfleet commission. She'll be taking over the Red Dragons. Kurosawa will take over Ares Two." Ire took another sip as Trip spoke. “I did not have a chance to meet her on the way back. Okay so she gets Dragons and Kurosawa gets Ares Two. it will be nice to have someone new to the wing.” "I expect y'all to play nice. Don't treat her with kid gloves. But this could possibly lead to more Trill rejoining Starfleet which would be good in the long run." Ire nodded “Understood.” Ravok took another gulp of his drink." Sounds good Sir" Walking into the bar, a smile fluttered onto Greta's face. Dressed in blue jeans, white tshirt and a light blue shirt over the top, she felt Better now the boss was back. Paperwork was not something that agreed with her but was a necessary evil of the Job she was born to do. Walking up to the trio, she grinned and said, "So, you all got back safely then?" Ravok looked at and raised his glass at her " Ensign Smith " he said with in a gesture of greeting her. Ire smiled and gave her a nod in greeting. “ Hi Greta.” "Hey boys." She replied, sitting next to Ire. Nodding to the bartender, she ordered a whiskey on the rocks and took a sip. "So, how was the trip?" " Eventful" Ravok replied with a smile. He glanced sideways at Ravok knowing that the conversation would eventually get round to him and Erin’s excursion and hoping to postpone that for as long as possible. As depending on my friends mischievous side it may get let slip tonight. Taking another sip of her drink, Greta glanced down the bar at Ravok and grinned, "Sounds better than here. Nothing happened other than the regular day in day out. Other than one of my squadron taking it upon themselves to try and be funny." She replied Ire frowned a little. “Funny in what way.” "Let's just say that they know now it's not a good idea to glitter bomb the squadron leader's office. Apparently, someone on base did the same thing to one of the new counsellors and they thought it would be funny." She responded, absently running her hand through her hair to check for glitter. "Not as funny as I found it when I told them that they now, not only had to clean my office but also scrub the outside of Skull one with a toothbrush. " Greta continued, smiling warmly at Ire as she took another sip of her drink. Ravok noticed Ire's glance at him. ~ Don't worry my friend I won't bring that up. You faced your consequences like a man and you defended my Rinam ~ Ravok said in his head. Noticing the look that passed between the two men, Greta raised an eyebrow, "well, I can see something happened. But, nevermind. I got my boys back safe and sound. The dream team back together. " she smiled as she spoke. Ire sipped his drink trying hard to cover his giggle at that mental image. He composed himself and looked at Greta. “Yes we most definitely are the dream team of the 1st Fighter WIng.” Ravok chuckled as he emptied his glass and signed for another rum and cola. " You two are the dream, I heard the flight logs ' Its fine I will do an emergency decompression and blow us out into space' trust me Ensign Smith if I was you, right then and there I would have soiled my flight suit. " Ravok laughed. Blushing slightly at the memory, a giggle then escaped her lips, "Ravok, too aigrev tal shiar tlaru." (Too much information) "Ehdhihss lyrr-t'ddreen 'hh fvi iudaiht aigrev (The truth is never too much) "He responded in Romulan with a grin. "Chapter 32 of Romulan Conduct and Politics" He laughed. Finishing her drink, she laughed, "True, although sometimes the truth is harder to see even when it's staring you in the face." Ordering a fruit juice, she leant her elbows on the bar, "So, why was Trill eventful?" Ravok grabbed his new drink and again removed the straw. " We had a lot happen. Somethings aren't up for me to discuss though based on principle and security clearance. Don't worry Ensign Smith I'll teach you all about that one day" he said jokingly as he took a drink of his rum and cola. "Oh really ? Well, maybe one day I'll get you in a Kilt and teach you to play the bagpipes, sonny." She replied, winking at Ravok. Ire grinned as he tried not to inhale his drink and looked from Greta to Ravok. “Now that is something I would like to see.” " You would love to see me in a kilt Ire, trust me I have great legs" Ravok said as he busted out into laughter. "Aye, but it's not the legs, Sir. You can only be a true Scotsman depending on what you wear under the kilt." Greta quipped. “Well that is something I don’t need to see Ravok.” Ire chuckled "I would wear my starfleet regulation skippies of course " Ravok laughed . Smirking, Greta winked at Ire as she replied, "Then you cannae be a true Scot. An honorary one sure. True Scotsmen don't wear….. " Greta stopped as a thought popped into her mind. Taking her glass of fruit juice, she coughed slightly, "So, how did she behave, the big ship?" Ire shrugged “She got us there and back in one piece. Which is always a good achievement. There were few tense moments when we met an Andorian ship. Which would have been a bit dicey if we had gone toe to toe with her. She was fast and modern and as much as I love the Mystique modern she is not.” Hitting him playfully, Greta smiled, "Aw, poor Ire needs a modern woman. A modern ship, you are such an old fashioned gent." Ire blushed for a moment before taking a sip of his fastly disappearing drink. He finished it and then went to grab a soft drink before he sat back down. Trip had been staring out into the distance. His mind miles away. He finished his beer and asked for a second. He hadn't really been paying attention to the conversation. Looking at his comrades he smiled. "Have you guys seen Reena?" It was a calculated move to join Starfleet, Reena used her fathers connection sending a message to the president directly much to her mothers ire. That lead to an argument, words were said, but though it all she left her home on the Tenaran ice cliffs.on more or less good terms. Mostly because her parents knew they would never be able to control her wonder lust. She entered the small bar known as the Canton. She was curious upon having an invite once she reached her quarters from the trip from Trill. It had taken all day to check into operations, be assigned housing, get her belongings moved in, and to reach some level of being unpacked before she noticed the blinking light of a message on her console. ~I guess now is as good a time as any to meet the rest of the flight crew.~ She crossed the bar. Wearing a light wispy black and blue sarong tied around her waist and a matching fabric tired around her torso. The color patterns swirled together in a pattern reminiscent of the deepness of space. It was a common garb on Trill and cosidering the region she was from Mars was still quite hot at least to Reena's sensibilities. Reaching the barkeep. "Excuse me I'm looking for Ensign Williams?" Motioning over to the gathered pilots Sarah replied, "Over there hun, can I get ya anything?" "Oh yes can I have a Trillian sunrise." Sarah looked at her oddly before she answered. "Coming right up." Reena nodded as she made her way over to the table where everyone else was gathered. "Hello I'm Ensign Dezza mind if I join you." “Take a seat Reena.” Trip said motioning her to join them at the bar. “Actually, it’s getting a bit crowded here.” Trip then looked and saw an open seat at the patio. “Sarah, we’re moving to the patio.” Sarah nodded and Trip lead the group to the nicely ventilated and quiet patio section. On the way out Ravok nodded his head to Reena Looking at his assembled team he smiled. “Tonight no ranks, no titles, just first names. Because tomorrow we go to war.” "Ays, Well said, Trip. Greta Smith, at your service. " “Ire WIlliams nice to meet you.” "Same," she responded to Ire as the group moved to the patio. Ravok laughed. " That should be easy enough. I go by my first name anyway " he said as he looked at the group. " Cultural thing" "Oh, really." Reena Smiled jokingly, knowing the friendly banter, as she took a seat the table they moved to. “So, while we have been gone, it seems that we have finally been getting some upgrades. Slowly but surely we’re having some Valkyrie 3’s being produced to replace our aging Peregrine ranks. We’ll keep most of the peregrines for training, parts, and for a couple back up, replacement squadrons. But for now, we will start phasing in the Valkyrie 3’s also known as the Gryphons.” Greta smiled widely. "Finally. " Ire grinned. “Wonderful.” Ravok smiled " Sounds great" Reena looked around the table getting a feel for those gathered around it. Trill fighters we nothing more than upgraded shuttle craft. She was looking forward to something she could push to the red line. She smiled as Sarah appeared with her drink and placed it before her the swirling colors and fruity aroma hide the strong Trill alcohol that hid underneath. “But, thanks to a recently discovered intelligence bunker, from before we left for Trill, we got our hands on five fancy and beautiful Valkyrie 5’s. The Valk 5 is rare, for the most part they are only used at the academy these days. We have five of them, only five for the moment. We need to run some tests on them before we can start producing more, which is why we are using the Gryphons to supplement the squadrons.” "Sweet mother of…. Valkyrie 5's?" Greta remarked with a wide grin on her face. “Type 5 Valkyries this is going to be great.” Ravok pumped his left fist with excitement. While drinking his Rum and cola with his right. Reena listened as she started to sip her drink, smiling in approval of the taste. “Tomorrow, the four of you and your flight officers will go out into a battle of sorts to really see how well these birds maneuver. All simulated strikes of course, we don’t want them to break just yet. Right Ire?” Trip then began to laugh. Holding off a smile, she placed a hand on his knee and whispered, "Don't worry, white skulls got your back." Ire looked back at Trip with a roll of his eyes and a smile dancing across his face. “Thank you for your concern for my well being Trip.” He looked over at Greta and nodded his appreciations of her comment. Ravok didn't laugh at Trip's remark, he looked at Ire with a sympathetic face. Renna wondered briefly who her flight officer was. She would have to look at the roster before the start of the match to figure that out. “It will go like this, a two on two battle. Then the winning team will face off against each other. And the winner of that bout will face me. Your damage counter will not reset at the end of each dog fight. So keep that in mind.” Trip then put the satchel he had been carrying on the table and took out what looked to be a wrestling championship belt with a Spartans helmet on the front. “If someone does manage to beat me, you will claim this belt. The Spartan Championship.” Ravok looked at the belt and thought about how this would mean to Ire. Knowing what that would mean to Ire, Greta swallowed her need to beat the boys and knew that belt was meant for him. Ire saw the slight subconscious looks that Ravok and Greta gave him when Trip mentioned the belt. At one time he would have been gunning for it making sure that he would win because he was the best and the fastest but that was then, and this is now. He would fight and fly his hardest during the competition, but winning was not the be all and end all. He would have the opportunity to fly with and against some of the best pilots the federation had to offer and he would be stupid not to use this as a learning opportunity. He grinned mentally as he realised that a lot had changed in the last month since graduation and realised that what Trip, Ravok and Greta had been trying to beat into his thick skull since his arrival had started to take root. “Now then the teams are as follows. Team Thunder will consist of Ravok “Puppy Love” Shara and Reena “Razzle Dazzle” Dezza. Team Lighting will be made up of Ire “Crash Bandicoot” Williams and Greta “Bagpipes” Smith. The last pilot standing will face off against Trip “Lover Boy” Williams. In addition to the belt, the winner gets to replace all the call signs I just gave you with their own creations.” Smiling at Ire, she turned back and glared at Trip, "Bagpipes? Son,we need words. " “Bagpipes” He grinned. “Could be worse.” Ravok looked at Reena " Don't worry in the spirit of fairness I'll give you a crash course." He looked at the others " Ire can tell you. Usually in flight maneuvers involving sweeps or dives you pull power from the phasers and redivert power to the engines for better stability. Don't and I mean Don't do this in these things. You'll blow your engine's atmospheric thrusters. " Ravok said with caution. "Thanks for the advice." The was a mischievous grin behind her eye as she smiled a Ravok. Turning her attention to the drink before her now half gone to the void of time, Reena listened to what Trip laid out it was a good opportunity to get to push a craft she was not used to. To its limit she was excited about flying any other reward was secondary to that trill. Ravok looked at Reena " No problem. " “Now then, as tomorrow we got to battle, tonight is viking night. Have fun, be merry, enjoy yourselves. And drink responsibly. We all know what happened last Viking night.” Trip then winked at his team and laughed. It had been a while since he felt this relaxed. Not since he found out Ash’s secret origin. Ravok smirked at Trip. "Since when does drink and being responsible go together." Reena asked the rhetorical question as she took a nice draw from her drink, finishing it. Looking toward Sarah at the barkeep she motioned for a refill. “Oh yeah, you weren’t there for that. Last time we did one of these, I walked one of the other pilots home, we had been flirty for a few days, went in for a night cap, left at 4 am. Which wouldn’t have been bad, had I not been her superior officer. Though to be fair we started flirting before I was her boss. Hence why I have the call sign lover boy. Sounds a bit better than Trip “Keep it in your Pants” Williams.” "I don't know, I kind of like it, 'keep it in your pants'. " Greta replied with a wink. "If the shoe fits, as they say." She smiled. "Ahhhh."she Smiled as her refill was placed before her. Reena wasn't looking for romance but she wasn't gonna say no to it either. This was her adventure of a lifetime and she was gonna live her best life, hold nothing back. Ravok laughed At Reena's response and took another drink. He looked at Trip " I have a question, you said the damage counter won't reset. So the winner of the one on one faces you at full strength?" “Hey, it’s called champions advantage for a reason right?” Trip said with a smile. “Your shields will be restored to full.” Ravok smiled " Good, I want to be at full health when I face you" he said to Trip. "Who says it's gonna be you, Puppy Love? Us Scots have a wee bit of fight in us." Greta replied. Ravok leaned towards Greta who was sitting to his right " I'm the only pilot in the past 30 years Nova squadron begged to join. There's good, then there's great and I sit right above great" he replied with a laugh. Reena listened to the banter knowing the one who banters the loudest normally falls the hardest. Those who were team mates the first round would be enemies the second. That meant not only being able to out maneuver the first match but the second after your team mate had a better understanding of what you were capable of, it was a tricky gamble on how much was to much to show. “As for the shoe fits, that actually was out of character for me. But hey, I’m 22, I’m allowed to make a stupid mistake now and then right.” ~Looking back on it, don’t think that relationship would have worked out anyways. I’m fine with single life for a while anyways.~ Reena shrugged as she took another sip of her new drink the colors swirling into beautiful patterns. A non Trill drinking the same drink would get lost in those colors. "Life is full of choices, good, bad, funny, sad. You go though all of them and live life wherever it takes you." "Yeah. But I'd recommend avoiding latrine duty." Trip began to chuckle. Reena chuckled softly, taking another sip of her drink taking this one a bit more slowly than the last. "Its part of the adventure, but I will win of that I have no doubt." Greta laughed heartily, "The girl's got fire in her belly. But, the dream team is gonna take you two down!" Winking at Ire, ~he has no clue~ she thought to herself as she finished her fruit juice and looked at Reena, "So, tell us about yourself?" Greta asked. "What would you like to know… I'm from the southern most area of Trill around the Tenaran ice cliffs, and before the Federation I was a member of the Trill defense force." She took another sip of her drink. "I've always loved to fly most of my instructors could not keep up with me though." "How about you?" She shot back at Greta and smiled. "If you can't tell by my accent, I'm Scottish. Learnt to fly from a young age and then joined the academy. Somehow managed to avoid these three reprobates and came out the other side. " Ire grinned at her and then looked at Reena. “I am a zero-g baby. I grew up and lived in space. Learned how to fly and got hooked and never looked back. Joined the academy and managed to get a place here.” Reena nodded taking in each person's story in turn as they went around the table. Trip took a deep breath and looked out into the distance. As everyone began sharing their story, Trip just started thinking about Ash, about her secret, about reaching adulthood and never knowing your birth family. Having an alcoholic adoptive father and finding out one of the families you idealized was actually your own. He was lucky, he had a great family. Ash was not so lucky and it broke his heart. “Fleet kid, grew up in San Francisco. Been wanting to wear this uniform since I was in diapers. Becoming a pilot fell into my lap. Was hoping to be on a Starship, but I’m more than thrilled to be a Spartan instead.” Ravok noticed Trip seemed a little off, preoccupied with his thoughts. The others were getting along well. Trip however seemed like he was somewhere else. He didn't seem upset, just off.. Ravok thought about his response carefully ~ What do I tell them? I was born two months premature because of a Tal Shiar murder plot?~ " I was born near the neutral zone on the federation side of the border. I was raised on a freighter, my dad let me take the helm from time to time. I've seen all types of ship in action and I wanted to be the one in control. So when I came to the academy I already had 13 years of flight experience under my belt." He said with a smile as he looked in his cup. " I joined Starfleet to rise up above the stereotype my people have become well known for, it hasn't been easy, but everyday I push forward." Ravok said as he took a drink. Trip took his glass. ~I wonder what Ash is doing. I’ve been able to snag a day off in the next few days. Hope she is ready to go to Earth.~ “Alright team. After tomorrow’s exercize, I want you all to take a day off. We’ve been working almost non stop on the Mystique on the way home. So you’ll have earned it.” "Does that take into account those who stayed and kept the home fires burning for you to come back to?" Greta replied with a wink at Trip. “Now then, a toast. A toast to us, a toast to the Spartans, a toast to the leaders of the 1st Fighter Wing of mars.” Ravok stood and leaned in with his glass toward the center of the table. " Spartans " Greta raised her glass, "Spartans." Ire smiled and raised his glass “Spartans.” "Spartans," Reena called out in chorus. “A toast…” Trip paused, he missed his family dearly. The ordeal with Ash just reminded him how great his parents were. How lucky he was. “To family, here, there, and wherever they may be,” "Amen to that, to family, both blood and that family we choose for ourselves." Greta added. Ravok smiled . Ire nodded. “Family,” Reena nodded as she looked over the gathered she had the notion that while she left her family on Trill here she may of found a new one. "To Family." She finished her drink. (reply none) (posted by Will, Jackie, Matthew L., Robert D., Robbie) (Mars Base, Tactical Ensign jg Taya, 2352) Taya was in her usual spot outside in an isolated part of the base. She had kicked off her boots and was sitting on a small storage crate. She was holding a bottle she had gotten from Santiago Torres in the Red Sands. Its label said it was something called, Jack Daniels. Her right antennae was drooping slightly to the left, while her left one was slowly moving in random directions. She tried to look at her home star, but the sky was too cloudy to see it. She took another sip of the liquid, shaking her head over the interesting burning sensation as it went down. When the Mystique had made it back to Mars, Taya and a small security team were the last to disembark. They had searched the ship, making certain everyone had left. She had also taken charge of offloading and storing equipment the tactical department would need. It had been a busy last few hours, so the break was a nice respite. So why was she imbibing whiskey? Taya had been able to spend most of a day visiting her shen mother, Tesha. Earlier, Taya had learned the truth of why the Andorian government had allowed her to join Starfleet. It was news she didn't like, but she had covered her pain and not let Tesha know how she had been affected. They weren't going to see each other for a long time, so she wanted to enjoy the time they had. While traveling back to Mars, Taya had spent her off-duty time alone. She also spent time in a holodeck, training with her ushaan-tor. She had even programmed several Andorian government officials as the opponents she fought. It was therapeutic and satisfying. Taya took another drink, but she set the bottle on the crate next to her when she sensed someone approaching. She had to squint to focus on who it was. "Ravok." It wasn't a greeting. Taya simply said his name. She picked up the bottle and held it out to him. "Want shome? It'shpretty good." She giggled over slurring her words. (reply Ravok) (posted by Rob Brown)
