Quinna Solice --0127 ) Quinna sat on the beach as she just stared at the water. She slipped her pants on debating of she was going to be leaving. Soon her decision was made. " Ensign Ravok to Ensign Solice. I need you on the mystique in my quarters. I will explain when you get here " he said. “On my way.” Quinna said as she made her way back to the ship leaving her shirt and shoes on the beach. (USS Mystique -- Deck A -- Medical/Counselor Ensign J.G. Quinna Solice --0132) Quinna had made her way from the transport room and headed out to her destination. She made sure to grab a med kit just in case. She soon was face to face with the resident Romulan. “What can I do for you, Engish Ravok?” (Reply Ravok, Keira) “I know exactly how to help out.” (Reply Ravok, Keira) (Played by Kris) (USS Mystique - Deck A – aACEO – Ensign JG Kiera Merek – 0135) “What can I do for you, Engish Ravok?” It was Dr. Solice who Keira and Ravok had met on the beach earlier. She was now wearing pants, but the top was only her swimsuit. That made Keira feel a bit more comfortable, she wasn’t the only one still in a swimsuit. As Ravok gave a pseudo-medical report to the doctor about his aural delay and her seeing lights. As Keira gave Solice a second look, she noticed that the doctor too, had a aura about her, a blue-green turquoise color. She could hear the humming cacophony of the medical tricorder. Keira reached up for Solice in an attempt to touch her face. “Pretty turquoise.” (Reply Solice) Keira answered the doctor’s medical questions. (Reply Solice, Ravok) (Posted by Todd) (Trill Homeword -- Local Beach -- Medical/Counselor Ensign J.G. Quinna Solice -- 0146) After leaving Ravok and Kiera, Quinna realized that she had left her shoes and shirt on the beach. She took the opportunity to beam back down. Quinna stood on the beach. A warm breeze blew through her hair. She looked around. She had not realized how populated the beach had become with members of the crew. Young couple spending time together, and good friends laughing and have a great time. However, with all a buzz around her, she still felt alone. It happened once in a while but she was content. She decided against staying on Trill. Perhaps one day… Bending over, she picked up her shoes and top. As she was about to take a step towards the transport site, she turned to hear her name. "Quinna, walk with me, please?" Quinna nodded that she would and let Sienna do the talking. "Quinna, you know that I wouldn't bother you and ruin your night, but my Imzadi, Ailynn Bracken... Trip told me that she collapsed. She has had pains all day, a headache and some indigestion. Trip was taking her back to the hotel we chose to get her something for it. I thought it was dehydration, she's never really been in this kind of prolonged heat, but I can't feel her and Quinna, please, please. I know that you are a Counselor too but please come back to the Mystique with me and check on her. I still can't..." Quinna grabbed onto Sienna. She knew she definately needed to get back to the ship with them. "I need to go, I need to be with her. Please don't tell the others, they would just panic..." Sy touched her comm badge, "Luma, it's Sienna, can you transport me to the Sickbay where my twin, Trip is please? I need to be with her." =^= Luma will move the Sienna to be with her Eimsanna. The doctors are worried. Luma is worried about the Ailynn too. Her light is fading and the machines of the sick bay are keeping her alive. =^= Sienna's eyes met Quinna's and Quinna could see the pain there, "Luma please send me there!" Quinna spoke up, “Luma, make that two of us.” In Sickbay, Quinna dropped her things. Her feet meet with the floor annd she could feel the texture under her feet. As she approached, Quinna noticed Dr. Ryelle. She felt late to the game. What was the expression, A day late and a dollar short. Quinna was able to turn and focus her attenion on Sienna. “Dr. Bracken is in good hands,” Quinna wispered to Sienna hoping it will help. (Reply Sienna) “I will sit with you if you like.” Quinna offered. (Reply Sienna or anyone in Sickbay) (Played by Kris) (USS Mystique – Sickbay - CONN - Ens JG Trip Williams- 1:54) When Trip had finished talking to Svend he turned to see his sister appear and head towards the ICU, Trip moved to stop her. "I have to be there with her. Trip, I have to." Trip went up to his sister and just wrapped her in a loving embrace. "Quinna needs to be here." Sy said, "Why did Kaz stay on Mars? And did anyone tell the Admiral yet?" "Shhh," Trip said as he kissed his sister on the forehead. "It's going to be ok. Dr. Kyros Ryelle has started tests, and he asked for Dr. Methor to come and assist him. I don't sense to much stress or panic from him." (reply Sienna) "As for the Admiral, I think it is best for the Doctors to make the call. I certainly don't. I'm not here as an acting chief, I'm here because that is my best friend and my sister's girlfriend. I'll let the doctors handle that, because...." Trip paused, "Because right now all I care about is being here when she wakes, because I know she will." (reply Sienna) Trip had been so focused on comforting his sister he hadn't realized that Dr. Solice had arrived with his sister. Releasing his sister. He walked up to her and gave her an unprompted hug. "Quinna, so glad you're here." He said with a smile releasing the hug. "I don't have authority to get Sy into the ICU, but maybe you could go in there with her. I think it would mean a lot to my sister if she could at least just stand next to her. And I know you can be there to help my sister if she, well, Ailynn is special to both of us, and right now I think if she gets emotional, I won't be too far behind." (reply Quinna) (reply Sienna, Quinna) (posted by Will) (USS Mystique – Mess Hall – Civilian Liaison/ Logistics Ashlyn Jones – 0217) =/\=Dr. Kryos Ryelle to Miss Ashlyn Jones, will you please report to sickbay, sorry for any inconvenience.=/\= Ashlynn looked up from the cup that she held, a look of confusion on her face. Tapping her commbadge, she spoke quietly, and gently, still slightly unused to using it. “Acknowledged Doctor. Jones out.” Sighing gently, Ash stood up and put the cup on the replicator to be recycled, and strode out of the room, her manner purposeful, but confused. She wasn’t due any kind of medical that she was aware of, and she was sure that if she had have been due, that Ailynn would have mentioned it she felt. ~Time will tell.~ (USS Mystique – Sickbay – Civilian Liaison/ Logistics Ashlyn Jones – 0221) Ash stepped into sickbay, the doors closing quietly behind her as the oppressive atmosphere swallowed her. She’d been in here before, of course, and it had never felt like this. There were more people bustling around than she’d expect to see, worried faces, their body language was fully professional movements precise and practised, their mannerisms had dropped fully the normal relaxed nature. She caught sight of her from across the room, a figure that she had known since they’d started high school. Ailynn was always so full of life, and now… “Oh please no…” She rushed forward seeing Trip, and falling into his arms, “Please tell me she isn’t…” (reply Trip) Ash looked around, desperately looking for Doctor Ryelle. Eventually seeing him, she hurried toward him, her face a picture of worry. “Doctor Ryelle? Ashlyn Jones, you contacted me? Ailynn…?” (Reply Ryelle) (Posted by Mark) (USS Mystique – Sickbay – Ensign JG Trip Williams and Dr. Kyros Ryelle - 2:23) As Dr. Kryos asked Trip and Sy if they were willing to be tested to see if their stem cells were compatible for a transplant to help Ailynn, Trip nodded in affirmative. "Yes Doctor, I get that maybe, we might not be a match, but if there is anyway we can help Lynn, we will do it. Need a kidney you can have mind." Ryelle looked at Trip and shook his head, "I appreciate the eagerness Ensign, but we don't need a kidney." Ryelle then turned to Sienna, "Enisgn Williams-Verin, are you also willing to be tested." (Reply Sienna) "Good," Ryelle said. Seeing Ire enter he summoned him over to the waiting area, and then went to the lab to go grab some equipment. At that moment Ashlyn came into sickbay and seeing Ailynn on the bed, began to become concerned and fell into his arms. Looking down at Ash, his old friend from high school and a high school classmate of Ailynn, he was struck by how similar they looked. He had sort of forgotten that, but seeing them together in the same place, it just reminded him of that reality. Many of the meaner kids at William T. Riker high school would often remark that Ash was a less prettier version of Ailynn. Trip had only ever mistaken Ash for Ailynn once, but in this moment, he couldn't help but realize how incredibly similar they were. "She's going to be ok Ash, I knows she is, I can feel it. I can feel it in my gut. The universe won't take a second best friend from me." As Ryelle returned to the waiting area Ashlyn ran up to him. “Doctor Ryelle? Ashlyn Jones, you contacted me? Ailynn…?” "As Miss Jones, yes we are doing our best." He replied, looking at her Ryelle cocked his head. ~The resemblance is uncanny. How peculiar.~ Ryelle than motioned for Ire, Trip, Sienna, and Ashlyn to follow him to the testing area. "I thank all of you for volunteering for this. We hope to find a close enough match to do a stem cell transplant to reinforce and fix the damage done to Dr. Bracken. My hope is that we find the match with one of the four of you, then we can get to work sooner. But we need to be prepared that it may take time to find a match. So please be patient with us. First some preliminary questions. First Trip, well I'd rather say Ensign Williams, but it seems that might be confusing right now. Trip, which of your parents is human." "My father, is that important to the test?" Trip asked. "Not necessarily, there are certain genetic markers passed on from the Father, and some from the mother, there is a possibility that a test subject with a human mother, as Dr. Bracken his 3/4 human and 1/4 Bajoran, with a human mother, that perhaps a donor with a human mother might be more fruitful. As we are still deteriming the cause im pursuing all possible angles." "Makes sense..." Trip said sheeply. "Now then, Trip, are you a blood realtion of Dr. Bracken?" "No, I am not." Ryelle nodded and moved on to Sienna. "Sienna, if I may call you that, I am goign to assume that human parent is your father, but for consistency sake is that the case?' (reply Sienna) "Very good, and are you a blood relation of Dr. Bracken?" (reply Sienna) "Thank you," Ryelle nodded and moved to Ire. "Ire, which of your parents is human and which is bajoran?" (reply Ire) "Thank you, and just checking, you are not a blood relation of Dr. Bracken?" (reply Ire) "Thank you Ire." Ryelle then turned to Ashlyn. "Miss Jones, same question as for Ire, which parent was human, which bajoran?" (reply Ash) "And any blood relation to Dr. Bracken?" (reply Ash) ~Curios. I could have sworn they were related with the similarities. But her mother is Bajoran and Bracken's is human.~ "Well had one of you been related to Dr. Bracken there would have been a greater likelihood of a match. But that is ok, hopefully we get lucky with one of you." (reply any if you want) Ryelle then took a tube and placed it in the apparatus needed to draw blood then approaching Trip he smiled. "I'm going to draw some blood, it won't sting. I promise." Trip nodded as Ryelle drew his blood. Trip winced a slight bit, but there was no sting. Once the blood was drawn Ryelle removed the tube, marked it with a TW and then placed a new test tube in. Ryelle then continued to draw blood from the other three participants, nodded, and then took the tubes and placed them into the analyzer to be tested comparing it to the DNA markers they had already obtained from Ailynn. (reply Any if you want as blood is drawn) Once the test began Ryelle then retreated into the office where Dural was. (reply Sienna, Ire, Ash) (posted by Will) (Trill Surface - Local Hotel - Admiral's Quarters - CO - Admiral Remae Ktell - 0225) The chime on the door wasn't unwelcome, whatever was happening, it wasn't sleep. Remae was spending his time thinking about the Andoirans. "Sorry to bother you sir, but I don't think this can wait.", said Billy, looking very fetching in his slippers while he stood at the Admiral's door. "Come on in, Billy. I can't get used to these time-differences anyway.", he said taking the PADD from his assistant - there a message on there and it was for him and it was encrypted but, it quickly unlocked after a quick flash of biometric security features confirmed his identity. "Is everything ok sir?", he asked once Remae had read the message. [You can of course always call directly to myself or Dr. Kryos Ryelle for as many updates as you desire.] "Put your uniform on, Ensign - we've got places to be.", he said and grabbed his uniform jacket from the back of a chair. (USS Mystique - Transporter Room One - CO - Admiral Remae Ktell - 0240) Billy and the Admiral beamed up onto the Mystique and he wasted no time in heading from the transporter room and to Sickbay. (USS Mystique - Outside Sickbay - CO - Admiral Remae Ktell - 0250) The Admiral didn't burst into the room but took a moment to slow down before entering, as he did so, he quickly looked around for anyone who could let him know what was going on with Ensign Bracken. (Reply from Billy, Sickbay, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Mystique – Sickbay – Medical Officer – Ensign JG Kyros Ryelle MD– 0237) Ryelle entered as Dural was in the middle of tests. “Young Miss.” He said to the woman still running the lab area, “Petty Officer, sorry, add a C-Reactive Protein and a Sed Rate to the blood you’ve already collected.” "If you're adding those to the blood, does that mean the white count is evlevated?" Ryelle asked "Indeed, white count is elevated.” Dural announced. “Petty Officer, how far along are we?” “I’ve gone through thousands of known antibody signatures, maybe 15-20%? And that’s just the viruses.” She reported. "Seems to be going rather slow." Ryelle remarked rubbing his eyes. “There’s got to be a way to speed this up.” Ryelle nodded waiting for the response do Dr. Methor's question. “At least we aren’t doing this thing manually. Back in the twentieth century Earth they used to have to stain the serum and test individually.” She said while Dural was viewing lab results. “What did you say?” Dural asked. His complete attention was on her. “Oh, I’m sorry.” She hung her head, embarrassed. “I know I shouldn’t butt in, you both are doctors, I’m just a lab tech…” As the two were talking, Ryelle peeked to see how his tests for finding a match were going. Trip was not a viable option. ~Kind of expected that one.~ He thought to himself as he regained focus right as Dural began speaking again. “No, it’s quite alright. What moron would not entertain any ideas when a life is on the line, my pride be damned. They used to have to stain them? What do you mean?” Dural said. Ryelle Nodded, taking a quick peek, Sienna's blood was still being processsed. “In times past, they would stain samples of the serum, the stain would catch proteins in the cell membrane of the clear microbe you were trying to see under a microscope. This was all before we had these big computers…” the nurse said. Ryelle ignored her comment, Sienna was not a match. ~Two down, two to go, then we start bringing in more.~ “If it weren’t a breach of protocol I could kiss you! That’s it! We stain the white blood cells so they get picked up by the medical scan easily. We take a look at where they are congregating that would give us a better idea of what we were dealing with, if it is a microbe we’d get an idea of the source of the infection.” He said. "Wait, what?" Ryelle asked being broken from his trance. "Sorry, you want to go old school on this? Sure, I mean, exhaust all options right?" “A few minutes for the solution to circulate, we do a quick cursory scan to find the largest congregation and a more detailed scan of where they’d decided to go.” He said. "It wouldn't definitely give us a better idea, and track down the cause. None of the crew members who had been with her throughout the day are exhibiting symptoms, perhaps this is something tailored specifically to her particular genetic makeup. “If that’s the case and it is a virus tailored to our good Doctor, I’d imagine it would be a very diffuse pattern. It’ll only take a few minutes to set up then inject Bracken with the stain, and let it circulate then a few minutes to do the scan, but the lab analysis is still?” he said indicating for an update from their lab petty officer. “Two hours, best possible time.” She reported. “Nothing to lose.” Dural said. "Go for it, in the meaniwhile while we wait, I'll continue searching for a donor. Let's go ahead and do this." “Excellent, I’ll produce the dye.” He said and went over to the medical synthesizer. A few key strokes and a small pause a chime was heard. Dural pushed another button and a small vial of dark indigo liquid appeared on the small pad. He loaded it into the hypospray and handed it to his Bajoran colleague. “You may have the honors.” "Don't mind if I do." Ryelle said as he injected Ailynn with the solution. Then glanced back at the blood work for Ire, while showing promise in an emergency, he was not a good match. ~Prophets be with us.~ (reply none) (posted by Will) (USS Mystique – Sickbay – Medical Officer – Ensign JG Dural Methor DrPH – 0255) Dural was just noting the near completion of the scan on Dr. Bracken, and the Admiral walked into sickbay. “Sir.” Dural stood at “parade rest” with his hands clasped in the small of his back.. (Reply Adm. Remae) Given the “as you were” Dural started with a summary of what had transpired. “ Ailynn’s condition is not well. The damage to her central nervous system is grim.” He brought up the previous scan completed by Dr. Kryos with a wave of his hand, he made a stretching motion zooming in on the brainstem. “Here is the last scan completed around one hour ago.” Shown was a holographic three dimensional image of her brainstem, showing damage that even a layperson would be able to determine was extensive. (Repy Adm. Remae) “In addition to the message sent to you. We’ve completed some preliminary blood testing. Chemistries are so far within normal limits. White blood cell count is up, which could indicate an infection, but if it is no close contacts of hers were effected. Which either means something else entirely or something very targeted to Dr. Bracken herself. Close contacts have been monitored for signs and symptoms with none so far, she is none-the-less under quarantine in room one as a precaution.” He explained concern seeping into his features. (reply Adm. Remae) “We have been running an immunological panel. To determine if her body is manufacturing antibodies to combat something, and comparing it to all known antibody reactions for Bajoran and Human genomes. We are at….” He said trailing off. “35% still no matches.” The feminine voice called out from the lab section. “Thank you miss.” Dural answered back, “We have a very advanced medical computer on board for 10 years ago, and we’re going through the protein sequences quickly, but there are millions of millions to go through. It all takes time.” (Reply Adm. Remae) “I’ve come up with a solution to speed it up a bit. Based off an idea from our lab section, we are “staining” Ailynn’s white blood cells to determine where they are collecting. Assuming where they are congregating will give us at least a method of narrowing down pathogens a bit. The second scan is nearly complete. You are just in time to view the results with us as they appear. (Reply Adm. Remae) “Presuming we do find the cause and eliminate it, her recovery is also one of our concerns. As such Dr. Kryos has headed up that endeavor, he would be best to speak of on that. From what I hear a stem cell transplant is a preferred course of treatment. We have already begun screening applicants, of which, due to your Bajoran ancestry would put you at the top of the list of potential donors.” He reported. (Reply Adm. Remae) “I assumed as much. Kryos is in the office, sir, going over the current donors.” Dural offered. “Once you’ve spoken with him, we can all look at the current scan which is finishing now, to determine our prognosis.” (Reply Adm. Remae, Dr. Kryos) (Posted by Todd) (USS Mystique – Sickbay – Medical Officer – Ensign JG Kyros Ryelle MD – 0257) ~I just don't understand how this is possible~ Ryelle thought to himself leaving the office. He noticed the Admiral was on board speaking with Dural. "Oh Admiral, it is good that you are here." Ryelle said matter of factly. He had been told that the Admiral was not necessarily a devout man, but the former monk was keen to exploring that issue, at a later date. "In fact, if possible, I'd like to speak with both you and Dr. Methor privately please." (reply Dural, Remae) Ryelle then led the two into the office. "I have good news, and odd news. I think best we start with the good news. We have a donor match for the stem cell transplant for Dr. Bracken. A fantastic match, better than I could have hoped for." (reply Dural, Remae) "However, I am afraid that we may be shattering the lives and realities of two young women within the next 24 hours." (replyy Remae, Dural iyw) "As you can see, looking at the analysis, the donor in question, is surprisingly enough, a blood relation of Dr. Bracken, given the genetic markers, I would say her aunt. Of course. Dr. Bracekn has no family aboard. And looking at her family tree, no maternal aunt. Yes Maternal, out donor shares the same mitochondrial DNA as Dr. Bracken, DNA which passes down the maternal line. It's not exact, from what I can gather, our donor would be a half sister to Dr. Bracken's mother." (reply Remae, Dural) "So the question then becomes, how is it that Dr. Bracken has an aunt on board when she has no Maternal aunt, and who is the mysterious donor. I checked the records we have on the potential donor. No apparent connection by blood to Dr. Bracken, based on family tree, though her blood proves otherwise. The two did go to high school together oddly enough and bare a passing resemblance. The odder thing is too, that the donor claims to not have a blood relationship with Dr. Bracken and claims that her mother is Bajoran and Father Human. However given the mitochondrial DNA, it suggests otherwise. It suggest a Bajoran Father and Human Mother. It's all perpelexing. Because looking at her records, it lists a human father and bajoran mother." (reply Remae, Dural) "Ah yes, I should get to the point, firstly yes we have a match for Dr. Bracken, all will be well on that front. However, and I say this in strictest confidence, we are about to destroy, I mean utterly destroy, these two young women's perception of the other. Dr. Bracken and our potential donor, Civilian Logistics Liason, Miss Ashlyn Jones were high school classmates. They knew each other as children. Now this does explain why the two look weirdly similar, with a very strong passing resemblance. In fact, looking at the pictures, the both favor Dr. Bracken's grandmother, Captain Dale Bracken." (Reply Remae, Dural iyw) "Ok back to the point. Some how, some way, and the genetics don't lie as these are fresh untainted tests, Miss Ashlyn Jones is the maternal aunt of Dr. Bracken. From all indications, neither know this fact. I don't even know how this is possible, but it is not my duty to find out. That is up to them if they so wish. Once we figure out the problem we will be able to treat Dr. Bracken quickly and swiftly. However, once she is recovered, I feel, due to potential medical issues that might come up in the future, that both have the right to know of this news. I don't quite yet know how to break it to them, but I feel like Miss Jones has the right to know she is Dr. Bracken's aunt and vice versa. Perhaps it might be good to hide it, but morally, I would feel ashamed if I did not. But until the two of them decide to take this public, I am holding both of you to secrecy." (reply Remae, Dural) "Of course, it does beg a complicated question. How do you tell someone that their child hood classmate is their maternal aunt, or tell someone their classmate is their neice. If you have an answer, I'd love to hear it." (reply Remae, Dural) (reply remae, dural) (posted by Will) (USS Mystique - Mess Hall - Ensign Stennin - 09:00) Stennin placed down his tray on the replicator and pushed a button. He watched it disappear with bright flashes. He always preferred real food to replicators, but for breakfast, the programs had a thorough understanding of the Vulcan cuisine. He paused as he heard his commbadge buzz. He tapped it once, and heard the computer recalling his appointment with the Admiral. Stennin nodded, and turned for the exit. As he got to the elevator, he was greeted by a Romulan in yellow. Stennin was caught off guard for a moment. He was still at unease with the Romulans, but he knew that they were as fragmented as Starfleet nowadays and that they wanted help as much as he did. Ravok: " Hello, Ensign. Sorry I almost ran right into you " Stennin: "Jolan tru, ensign. I was on my way to meet the admiral. He has assigned me to familiarize me with Chiefs Sekal and Williams-Verin." Ravok: "Tonk'peh" Stennin blinked a few times at the words from the Romulan. Ravok: " My name is Ensign Ravok Shara...Tactical officer, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm surprised I haven't seen you before." Stennin: "It is agreeable to meet you, Ensign Ravok. My name is Ensign Stennin, science officer. I was beamed aboard here yesterday." Ravok: " Right, I saw the transporter logs your name is familiar to me because of that. Well I suppose you shouldnt keep The Admiral waiting. Welcome aboard Ensign Stennin." Stennin looked at the man smiling and nodded softly. Stennin:"I am certain our paths shall cross again, ensign." Stennin rose a brow as he raised his hand and expressed the Vulcan greeting. With a soft nod, he goodbyed the Romulan and entered the turbolift. Ravok: " Goodbye " (USS Mystique - Deck 9 corridor- Ensign jg Ravok- 09:01) Ravok was headed to the primary shield generators systems control center located on deck 9 he had just come down from the bridge to do some routine checks. He perfered to take care of any mandatory checks or inspections of the tactical systems at the beginning of his shift to simply get it out of the way, but if a problem was discovered than he could over see the repair or adjustment during the rest of his shift. Looking at his PADD while walking. He looked up briefly and as he did he almost walked into a fellow officer. ~ Ears, Cheeks,a Vulcan~ Ravok thought as he quickly determined the racial details of his fellow officer. Many outside of the Vulcanoid races would often confuse one for the other, but Vulcans and Romulans could always tell. It's in the eyes. Always in the eyes. Vulcans have so much hidden deep down inside. All their joy, sorrow, happiness and pain suppressed but always there , always in the eyes. " Hello, Ensign. Sorry I almost ran right into you " He said with a smile. "Jolan tru, ensign. I was on my way to meet the admiral. He has assigned me to familiarize me with Chiefs Sekal and Williams-Verin." Ravok smiled at the sentiment of a Vulcan being respectful of his Rihannsu heritage and it's been a long time since anyone greeting him in such a way. "Tonk'peh" he responded in Vulcan to return the respect given to him. " My name is Ensign Ravok Shara...Tactical officer, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm surprised I haven't seen you before." "It is agreeable to meet you, Ensign Ravok. My name is Ensign Stennin, science officer. I was beamed aboard here yesterday." Ravok nodded his head " Right, I saw the transporter logs your name is familiar to me because of that. Well I suppose you shouldnt keep The Admiral waiting. Welcome aboard Ensign Stennin" he said to Stennin with a friendly smile. "I am certain our paths shall cross again, ensign." Ravok raised his hand and formed the typical Vulcan hand gesture. " Goodbye "Ravok said. Stennin rose a brow as he raised his hand and expressed the Vulcan greeting. With a soft nod, he goodbyed the Romulan and entered the turbolift. Ravok watched as Stennin entered the turbolift ~Hes very friendly for a Vulcan~he thought as he looked back down at his PADD and continued on his way. ( reply none) ( posted by Davis ) (USS Mystique - Bridge, Ready Room - 09:15) Stennin exited the turbolift and looked at the viewscreen for a moment. The image of Trill below still remained. He noticed a small human officer eyeing him from the Ops station. Stennin rose his brows as he returned her gaze, and then nodded softly. (Reply Janey) "That is correct, ensign. My name is Stennin, the new science officer assigned here. I have a meeting with the Admiral." (Reply Janey) "It is agreeable to make your acquittance, ensign. If I may inquire, are you the chief of operations of this vessel?" (Reply Janey) "It is indeed peculiar the admiral choose to surround himself with officers of only ensign rank. But considering the state which Starfleet is in, it is logical to assume such circumstances cannot be avoided." Stennin nodded softly, and greeted Janey as he stopped before the ready room. with a swish, it opened. He noticed the admiral sitting in his chair again. He walked in slowly and nodded softly to the captain, and stood before his desk. (Reply Remae) "That is correct, admiral. Yesterday you assigned me to meet the new senior officers of my department." (Reply Remae) "That is agreeable, admiral. I have not yet made my acquaintance with the ship decks. I have, however, already met two officers aboard." (Reply Remae) Stennin nodded as he followed the admiral out the ready room. Stennin nodded to Janey again, and listened to the Admiral. (Reply Remae) "I have familiarised myself with ensign Brown, admiral." (Reply Janey, Remae) Stennin nodded to the Bajoran hybrid who stood at the Conn. "It is agreeable to meet you, ensign Williams." (Reply Ire) Stennin nodded softly at the other officers on the bridge, and then followed the admiral to the turbolift. (USS Mystique - Science Research Facilities - 09:40) Stennin listened attentively as the admiral explained the ship and its crew to him. From his words, Starfleet was slowly but steadily rebuilding. The crew on this vessel were aiding these efforts at the best of their abilities. Stennin nodded softly a few times, but remained silent. He looked as the turbolift stopped and looked up. They were at deck 9. He followed the admiral, as the corridor reviewed several windows behind which there were some busy labs. He saw a number of people with blue collars inside, and others with a white lab coat. He watched as the admiral kept walking, and stopped before a small office. (Reply Remae) Stennin nodded, and looked as the door swished open. (Reply Remae, Ravok, Janey, Ire) (Federation Space– Shielded orbital platform- Mystery Man- 1135) He returned to the console with a mug of hot coffee and relieved the woman who had been manning it in his absence. Once seated he took a sip of the brew and began checking the readings on the prisoner which were little changed. That wasn't a surprise, it didn't even exist in the postal code area of disappointment. He had turned the setting up twice on the electrical field but she was holding out. Still it was early in the game. He couldn't raise it much farther without electrocuting her but there were other ways to add to her misery so he opened the comm channel and adjusted the volume at the other end so it would be uncomfortably loud. "Very good operative, I see you are going to be a tough nut to crack as I expected. Since the electrical field is insufficient I hope you don't mind if I add something to it. Scrapping one avenue of endeavor in favor of another would give you a moments respite but I don't play fair. I'm sure you will not enjoy what's next on the docket. I'll check with you again in a while. Of course if you want to spill your guts now and tell me what I want to know we might work a deal. What do you say?" (Reply: Faust) He took another sip and gave a wicked grin she couldn't see but probably heard in his voice. "Have it your way. If you change your mind just call out... if you dare to do so. Or optionally you could just stand to your feet. Your choice." (Reply: Faust) He left the electrical field active and turned up sound magnification in the chamber so that even her breathing reverberated back at her like muted thunder. She could try to quieten it but that would mean shallower breaths and eventual oxygen starvation even for an augment. After making the adjustments he grinned again and whispered. "Goodbye... for now," knowing it would be ear shattering in her cell then cut the comm line and picked up the fragrant coffee again. (Reply: Faust) As he enjoyed the mouthful someone spoke from behind him and he turned his head. "Having fun?" "Not necessarily...," he said to his superior., "...I don't enjoy inflicting pain like some do but I do relish the game. Doing this from a distance increases the difficulty." "Will she even know anything useful?" He grinned at the man. "All information is useful, it just depends on how you prioritize it. If I get anything out of her I'll put it to good use you can be sure." "Good." Shadow man turned and strode from the room leaving him with his game of life and death. Squatting had not been had not been much better but at least there was less points of contact for the electricity to spark across and it also gave her a better meditating position then standing would have. There was a click or a comm channel being opened before the voice boomed around her. She clamped her hands over her ears and gritted her teach as the words crashed into her from all sides. =^=Very good operative, I see you are going to be a tough nut to crack as I expected. If you change your mind just call out... if you dare to do so. Or optionally you could just stand to your feet. Your choice=^= She made sure that she did not move or make a sound as the voice boomed around her. Suddenly there was a strange whistling sound like the breathing of a huge dragon all around her. She realised that it was in rhythm with her own breathing. ~Ow hell its not a dragon its me. They have amped up the sound magnification so even my breathing sounds like a thunderous roar. "Goodbye... for now," She squeezed her eyes shut and groaned in pain as she clamped her jaw shut to stop any other sound to come out. The last three words slammed into her almost nocking her off her feet. She balanced herself and began to slow her breathing so that sound magnification would only make it a dull roar rather then a thunderous explosion. She could do this for a while but she would slowly go hypoxic and would have to breath faster to keep her oxygen levels up enough so that she would not pass out but that would make increase the noise again. Her leg spasmed as the electrical pulse danced across its nerve ending causing her to fall had into the floor. A grunt of pain slipped passed her mouth as the electrical current surged along one side of her body. There was a pause before the sound of her grunt of pain was bounced back at her. She pushed herself up into a standing position and grinned. ~It was not a matter of if you broke under interrogation but when~ Her instructors had enjoyed reminding them all during their training. They were not some holo vid star who would get tortured and survived. Unless she managed to escape, she would die here in agony and if she was very lucky she may have all her body parts and her mind intact when they killed her. So she neede more information before that happened, she was also board and wanting to see what they were going to throw at her. ~Knowledge is power~ So she took a soft breath and sung very quietly. She had a excellent singing voice which she was very proud of and used it to its full extent. “Why spend a dark night with you All i have to pay organize While i could be laying up here just for me " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE7jFvBWMJA She paused for a moment as the echo came thundering back and then she started again so that her voice and her echo interlinked and repeated. This and other songs had been part of her training and was used for getting into a deep meditative state. She did this now to see if she could irritate the speaker to see if they would let something slip. (Reply Mystery Man) (Posted by Robbie) (Federation Space– Shielded orbital platform- Mystery Man- 1145) A slow smile crept onto his face when the operative stood to her feet. It was early in the game yet, too early for a proper breaking of her will. The old training like a litany scrolled through his mind as she started singing softly. ~Change and redirect, meld and flow. Change and redirect, meld and flow. Give a little, take a little, meld and flow.~ "Well played...," he muttered, "...so let's see what you're willing to give up for a moment's respite." He turned the electrical field down to its initial low setting and dropped the amplification so that his voice was again uncomfortably loud without being shattering then opened the comm channel. "Let's start with the easy questions shall we? Name and designation." (Reply: Faust) "Second question. How long have you worked with Signos and what is your history with her?" (Reply: Faust) "Oh come now...," he chuckled, "... obfuscation and redirection will not get you very far with me, I've gone through the same training you have. He leaned forward with his elbows on the console, his face grim. That had been a lie, once an operative had been broken they could no longer be trusted. Only one fate awaited such. He smiled then knowing how this would play out. All part of the plan. Signos needed to know fear, not only that she was being watched but that she was vulnerable at any time, any place. "Three punishments for three lies." She felt the power of the electrical surge as it danced up her legs and felt her muscles begin to twitch and spasm. Then the wall of sound slammed into her again but this time the lights came on. Rebecca screwed her eyes shut but it was like looking into the sun. She put her hand up to try and shield her eyes from the light. This was the first time she had been able to see the cell that she was in. It was about six foot by three foot with straight featureless walls and a flat floor. She noticed that in the ceiling just with in her reach if she jumped was a vent hatch just big enough for her. She made sure that she did not make it obvious that she was looking at it but knew that the speaker had probably set this all up and the vent hatch was just another part of the game. The question was if she stayed there, she would die for sure but if the vent was an escape route then she would survive but that also meant that the speaker wanted her to escape which was also very worrying. ~Better get a move on before everything changes again~ She stepped over so that she was directly under the vent hatch and paused waiting for her muscle spasms to subside enough for her to jump. She screwed her eyes shut as she tried to focus on the vent. She crouched down and then jumped up stretching her hands in front of her as she reached out towards the vent hatch. The tips of her fingers latched onto the vent hatch and she hung there for a moment making sure she had a good grip. She then swung herself up, so her feet were on ether side of the vent hatch and pulled. She felt the hatch move under her grip and slid her hand through the growing gap and grabbed the inside of the lip of the ventilation shaft. The hatch dropped away from her as she grabbed onto the lip with both hands and hauled herself in the ventilation shaft. She glanced back down into the room before heading down the ventilation shaft as fast as she could go. ~I will find out who you are and make you pay for what you have done~ (Reply Mystery Man) (Posted by Robbie) (Federation Space– Shielded orbital platform- Mystery Man- 1203) He sat and waited with a growing smile as 'Alice' took a trip down the rabbit hole. After she was far into the shaft he turned off the electrical field and returned sound volumes and lighting to normal. All of it including the light had been an essential part. Without the illumination she would never have found the ventilation shaft and the rest had made it too 'hot' for her to stay in place. He left the sensors running in case she slipped back inside even though she wouldn't return and then activated the external ones to monitor and record her exit. After those preparations he tapped a comm button. =^= Yes. =^= "The pigeon has been freed." =^= Did you learn anything? =^= "Enough. The only question now is what form those unconventional methods will take. The holographic constructs will be useful if their meddling gets too invasive." Shadow Man, satisfied signed off leaving Mystery Man to continue his vigilance. Once Faust was safely clear he set the small anti-matter reactor to overload. The ground shook alarmingly up to a quarter mile away and true to his word there was nothing left to return to. The surrounding jungle was vaporized for hundreds of yards in every direction and Faust was left at the edge of the habitable zone in the southern hemisphere to find a way to get back to civilization or return to her ship. He then notified Shadow Man as ordered. He was confident she would get out but if she failed... well that would be one less he would have to account for. His job done for now he turned the board over to his relief and went to get some sleep. He had gotten up early upon Faust's capture and needed the bunk time. (reply Ire, Reply anyone that wants to take the Bridge temporarily) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Mystique, TIC – aASEC, Ens(jg) Carson Peters – 1222) Carson had spent most of the day monitoring the incoming and outgoing personnel to and fro from the planet below. He’d taken some of the time to walk the ship and work with some of the lower ranked Security personnel in an attempt to build some relationships. He had been made aware of a possible ongoing security incident with the Chief Medical Officer and had also prepared for the eventuality of a ship-wide lockdown although he hoped it wouldn’t come to that. Now, standing alone in an empty TIC he had just put a call in for another officer to come and relieve him so he could go get some lunch when the door’s opened and in barrelled Elsie Biers, the journalist who had interviewed him only a few days ago. He smiled at her, as she got closed and noted that the camera’s that were usually an ever presence around her were turned off. “What can I do for you, Miss Biers?” he asked kindly. She was a little out of breath, as soon as she’d beamed aboard she asked the Transporter controller where she could find Peters and had ran at almost full pace, such as it was, through the ship to find him. “I have some footage you should see,” Elsie said as she regained her breath. “Interesting,” Carson responded and moved around the console and ushered her into one of the side rooms. “Follow me,” he said as they moved into the room and sat down opposite each other. “I wasn’t aware we were going to get to see any of your footage until the documentary was released?” he said half-jokingly. More composed now she was sat, Elsie flashed a smile back at him, “Under normal circumstances you wouldn’t.” she said as she shifted in the seat. Carson just continued to stare and wait patiently, “Of course if you’re not interested, I don’t have to show you?” “Why don’t you hit play and we’ll see what we have here.” Carson said and as he did so he brought up a screen and placed his personal padd down on the desk. He noticed a report from Ravok waiting to be read, he’d flagged it as important. “Sure,” Elsie said as she set the screen up and played the footage back for the Ensign. As he watched what was happening on the screen, she popped out her personal communication device and fired a message across to her Producer Cressida. [Cressida- I’ve beamed back to the ship after witnessing several Trill trying to attack your favourite Starfleet officer. Let me know where you are and stay safe Elsie] “Play it again,” Carson said now in a sterner voice. She did so without hesitation and as the footage played back for a second time she wondered why she was doing this, after a few moments she decided that if it hadn’t been Erin involved she probably wouldn’t have, but she’d hurt Erin unintentionally and perhaps making sure she and her friend didn’t get locked up on Trill for the foreseeable future might open Erin up to talking to her again. “I need this footage,” Carson said after he cleared his throat. “You can have it.” “I… oh,” Carson said and then stopped, “Great. Can you transfer it to this padd here? When did this happen? and what were you doing there? The spot looks pretty secluded from the footage.” “I’d been tipped off that something was going down in that spot, a secret meeting of some sort. Now I’m not sure whether they wanted me to capture footage of them beating up a Starfleet officer, or whether I was also being lured there to be attacked. It was within the last half hour,” Elsie finished up, “I beamed straight back and came to find you.” Carson nodded, “I’ll assign some security personnel to you and your Producer whilst you’re on the planet, that is if you’re going back?” “Thank-you, but CBS will provide private security. It’s already being setup.” Elsie said as she began to stand up. “Good Luck” she said as she left and the door closed behind her. He looked down to the padd and read the report Ravok had sent him, it was to do with the same incident. Confused as to why Ensign Williams had chosen Ravok to see rather than his direct report or Security, Carson just shook his head and sighed into the empty room. “Computer, locate Ensign Ire Williams.” [Ensign Williams, is in the Captains Ready Room.] “Who’s he with?” [Ensign Williams is with Ensign Williams.] The computer chirped back. Carson smiled and set off at a brisk pace towards the Bridge. (Reply any Ensign Williams) “Ensign Saarsgard, please can you locate and check-up on Ensign Cortez. Have her report to me as soon as possible.” (Reply Saarsgard) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (USS Mystique- Captain’s Ready Room– CONN– Ensign (JG) – Trip Williams and CONN- Ensign JG Ire Williams 1233) “Thank you for seeing me.” Trip nodded and motioned for Ire to have a seat. Trip was sitting behind the Admiral’s desk. It felt awkward, like he was sitting somewhere he wasn’t supposed to. As if the Admiral might come in at any moment and yell at him, but this was the easiest place to meet with Ire and still monitor what was happening on the bridge. “I am here to inform you as my department head that there has been an incident on the planet involving myself, Ensign Cortez and two local civilians. I have already informed Security for a primary report and after speaking with you I will go back and do a Serious Incident Report.” “Ire,” Trip said, rubbing his eyes, “What the hell happened. Let’s not beat about the bush. LIke what do you mean an incident involving civilians? Stop being vague and tell me what happened.” Ire nodded. “We were on the planet near the woods on our beam down point. I saw Erin chatting to some kids where she then followed them into the woods. I felt that something was off, so I followed them. Unfortunately, I lost them as they went off the main path and by the time, I found them again the kids were gone and there were two men in their late teens who had surrounded Erin who was lying on the floor. From what I could see she was bleeding from her face, she had hurt her ankle and was not able to stand. I heard one of the men threaten her life as I arrived. I tried to talk our way out of the situation as I did not know if they were armed and did not want to escalate the situation. I managed to get myself between Erin and the closest man who then attacked me. I defended myself and disabled him before me and Erin left the area quickly to get her to sickbay and also in case there were other people lying in wait to jump us.” Trip entered some information on the Admiral’s terminal and read the initial security report. “It says here you shattered the guys knee. Is that true?” “Yes I did. I felt that as he had already assaulted Erin and threatened to kill her. I needed to make sure that he could not threaten her again. So I immobilized him and took his knee out.” “Ire, why were you out walking by yourself?” Trip looked at him intently. “You know that Taya was attacked yesterday. You should have known better than to be out by yourself.” “Yes I did which is why I went after Erin who was being led away by children into a wood. I was making sure that she was okay. Which is how I found her in the situation that she was in.” “Second, why didn’t you just beam out, like yeah you didn’t do anything wrong, you defended an ally under attack but the prudent course was immediate beam out. Why didn’t you take that option?” “By the time that became an option I was already too close and was trying to talk them out of killing us both.” "It should have been your first option. The moment you got to Erin. Simple call, lock on our commbadges. Plus when she was being lured away you should have called for back up. Not withstanding you should never have left the ship alone." “We went down with a routine rotation. I do not know that she was being lured away she just went off with some kids. It could have been hearts and minds I did not know at the time.” “Bull,” Trip interjected. “If you were with a routine rotation you would have had a buddy. Where was your buddy? And dont say Erin, because she wasn’t your buddy, and frankly, should have had one too.” “My buddy was….” “Look, you’re not in trouble, not from me, but Ire, can I be honest here?” He paused for a moment then nodded “Yes Trip.” “You are a great pilot, a good officer, you act on pure instinct, and that makes you deadly in the air.” “Yes Trip.” “But sometimes you don’t look at the bigger picture, you don’t take time to think about the ramifications of your actions. How each smaller thing cascades into something else. I get that you kind of were off alone growing up. I learned it playing baseball, how an errant steal attempt, a bad pitch can cascade into trouble, but a tacitcal and strategic walk could save a season. You may be 8 years older than me, but you still need to learn that.” “Yes Trip and I take all responsibility for my actions and I will take any repercussions.” “Ire bud, like you are gonna turn into a bad ass some day. Honestly I don’t know if I have any reprecussion for you.” Trip then paused as a thought of mass carnage of Ire making a poor decision with drones popped in his head. “Actually, I take that back. Ire I’m so sorry.” Ire paused and then sighed. “Look Trip level with me because I am getting a bit irritated that every time I do something wrong you take my drones away from me. If you don’t want them then say and I will get them packed up and stored.” “Look, you did a lot of work with the drones. A lot, but bud, if I can’t trust you not to choose the most prudent choice when aiding a friend, how can I trust you with killing machines plugged into your brain.?’ “I understand.” “But, we will use them. We will configure them to be manned from the Starbase and from the Eclipse. But not from your brain.” Ire nodded. “ If I can’t use them. Then at least they can still be used for the squadron or the station.” “You realize you could have been killed today, Erin could have been killed today. Not to mention attacking Trill citizens could seriously jeopardize the talks.” “Yes I understand that and that it could have gone bad for me and Erin. As I have brought the Starfleet into disrepute due to me attacking the man which can affect the talks which is why I will take what the Admiral says when it gets to him.” He sighed. “I know that I have screwed up and I realise that this could affect everything we have come here to do.” “Chin up Ire, everything will be ok. You’ll bounce back from this. But right now, report to Carson Peters. Then tell him what’s up and call the admiral and tell him what happened. Understood?” Ire nodded. “Yes Trip, Thank you, I will do that now.” “Dismissed.” “Yes Trip.” Ire stood up fromthe chair and nodded again to Trip and left. When Ire had left Trip tapped his commnadge. “Billy come in,” =/\=Yeah cuz=/\= “Dude, so Erin was attacked on Trill, just letting you know. Has she told you?” =/\=No, was it recent?=/\= “Yeah, it was.” =/\=Alright, well she’ll probably tell me soon. I’ll wait for her to call me. She probably needs some time to just process it. Carson had messaged ahead to the Security officer stationed on the Bridge and caught his eye as the Petty Officer moved closer to them, “Sorry about this Ire.” Carson said as he moved forward, “Ensign Williams, Under regulation 7, article 3 I need to put you under arrest for the time being. Carson stepped by as Ire headed into the Turbolift, he waved the Petty Officer off when he knew the Ensign wasn’t going to make a scene out the whole kit and kaboodle. He hoped most of the Bridge wouldn’t have noticed what had happened, though he was sure Ravok had been keeping an eye. “Deck 15,” He said as he stepped into the Turbolift. “Sorry about this man, It’s regulations. Ire nodded as he entered the interview room and sat in one of the chairs by a table and waited for someone to sit across from him. As the doors shut, locking Ire in the room, Carson turned to the officers, “I’ve asked for Ensign Cortez to report, once they arrive, stick her in one of the Interview rooms. She’s a victim not the accused, treat her as such.” “Yes, Sir.” the man said, as he returned to the desk. “No interruptions,” Carson added as he opened the door to Ire and walked through. He moved into the room, “Want a drink?” he asked the Pilot before sitting down. “Yes please Sir. Um water please.” “Computer, two waters.” Carson said as he walked to the replicator, he returned to the table with two waters, put one down in front of Ire and then sat down. He pulled out his padd and began scrolling through it, “Computer begin recording, Interview with Ensign Ire Williams in regards to Incident Report 34c filed by Ensign Ravok and Civilian complaint 643ad filed by the Trill local authorities. Attach all audio files to both reports at the end of the Interview.” there was an affirmative beep. Carson took a breath and then continued, “Ensign, you are to consider yourself under arrest for the assault of a civilian by the name of Derrin Archos in the city of Tresh on the planet of Trill on Stardate 2444.06.24 under Starfleet Regulation 7, Article 3. Do you understand?” ~I hope he gets we’re doing this for recording~ Carson found himself thinking. Ire nodded and looked at Carson “Yes Sir I understand.” Carson smiled at him, this didn’t need to be particularly hard, it was mainly going to be theatre, a bit of improv. He’d seen the footage from Elsie which proves the truth in the statement that he was defending himself, but it needed to be corroborated with official statements and it’d be best to do that before Ire and Erin knew of the video’s existence “Excellent. The complaint and subsequent request I’ve received are in relation to you assaulting a man down on the planet. Shattered his knee and caused some other minor injuries by the looks of it. I’m aware of the primary action report you’ve given Ensign Ravok of Tactical on the incident, but for your sake, take me through everything that happened as if I’d seen that report.” “Yes Sir.” “Start with what you were doing alone, in the woods.” Carson suggested. “Sir we were down on a routine rotation. I saw Erin….. I mean Ensign Cortez going into the woods with a couple of children. I decided to follow her to make sure that she was okay. They had moved off the main path into the woods which was where I lost them. I headed after them but took some time to find them. By the time I found them the kids had disappeared and there were two men of about 18 and 19 years of age.” “Why did you follow Ensign Cortez and the kids?” Was the first question that sprung to mind. “We were told to never walk around on our own since Ensign Tara got attacked yesterday. So I wanted to make sure that Ensign Cortez was okay as she was not supposed to be off on her own.” Anger flared up inside Carson at the mention of the assault on Taya, “Both of you beamed down together or you were both flouting the rules that had been put out about being planetside in pairs?” “We came down in pairs but our pairs were together as they were wanting to go off and see the sights so it made sense for me to stick with Ensign Cortez Sir.” “Who was your buddy?” Carson asked. “My buddy was Ensign Mathews and Ensign Cortez’s buddy was Ensign Travis. Sir” “Ok, good. So you noticed Ensign Cortez being led away by a bunch of kids. Could you describe them? Age ranges, hair colour, what they were wearing. That sort of stuff.” “I only got a fleeting glance of them and they were heading away from me. I think one had dark hair and the other had brown, they looked about 5 or 6 from their height. I am not sure about the clothes, sorry they were a distance away.” “Fair enough, so you followed them in. What happened next, in your own words?” Carson was taking the odd note on the padd, whilst Ire spoke. He paused for a moment, getting his memory straight as although it had only been a few hours ago it did seem like a very long time. “Sir as I entered I heard one of the men who was standing over Ensign Cortez say ‘You have no business being here, starfleet and I am gonna make damn sure you know it…..” Ire recounted the incident word for word as he could recollected it. “....Then the man attacked me. I defended myself and kicked out which got him in the knee. I think I may have broken it. While he was on the floor I told him ‘Count yourself lucky it was me who found you with Erin. Other people may not have been so restrained as me.’ at that point I got Ensign Cortez off the floor and we transported to sickbay as fast as we could in case there were more hiding. Sir” “I appreciate the detail, Ensign. Should make things easier going forward. I have the hospital report for Mr Archos here, it seems that you shattered his Patellar, ripped the Articular cartilage behind the kneecap and bruised the Tibia. Must have been a pretty heavy kick, do you think this was a reasonable amount of force to use?” Ire paused before answering. “At the moment in time I wanted to put him down and get control of the situation. Taking out his knee was the most expedient thing I could do at the time as I did not know if they were both armed or if there were any others waiting to help them in. On reflection I could have handled that better and use other less aggressive actions Sir.” Privately Carson wanted to praise Ire for his quick actions in neutralising the more threatening of the two, he couldn’t do that whilst on the recording however “And you deemed that calling for backup or in fact just calling for a beam out wasn’t going to happen quickly enough?” “Sir by the time the option of calling for backup or going for a beam out occurred I was already across the clearing and had started the conversation. I messed up on my situational awareness which is unforgivable Sir and it could have ended a lot worse for the both of us Sir.” “Ok.” Carson said as he put the padd down, “Computer stop recording and attach to relevant files.” he took a breath, “Good stuff. Off the record, you probably did the right thing, although calling for a beam out before engaging would have been faster.” “Yes sir.” “I do need to reprimand you for ignoring the guidelines set out for visiting the planet though. I don’t know what either you or Erin was thinking going off solo after what happened to Taya.” Carson said with a reproachful tone. Ire nodded. “Yes Sir, Understand Sir.” “I need to leave you here for a little bit, whilst I go verify everything with Erin. Between me and you, you may want to go buy that reporter a drink. She’s made this whole process a lot easier for all of us. You’re no longer under arrest, so I won’t lock the door, but don’t go anywhere OK?” Ire looked puzzled. “The reporter sir. What has she got to do with it?” “She was there and she filmed the entire situation which you just described perfectly. The toerags which attacked Erin and yourself don’t have a leg to stand on… literally and figuratively” he joked as he stood up and headed for the door. Ire nodded as Carson headed for the door.. “Yes Sir. Understood and I will wait here until you tell me it's okay to go.” Carson nodded and walked out to find out if Erin had arrived. (Reply none, any) (Posted by Robbie and Jono Bradley) Carson entered the interview room that Erin had been sat down in, it seemed like she was still pretty shook up from the incident down on the planet, so he’d decided to try and make this as quick and painless as possible. “Ensign Cortez,” he said as the doors closed behind him, “How are you feeling? Do you need a drink?” Shaking her head, "no. Just want to get this done. I… wanna go back to my quarters." Carson looked at her sympathetically, “I apologise for requiring you to come in, we needed to get this done as quickly as possible though… to save Ire from being required to go back down the planet and explain himself to the local authorities.” he sat down. Not looking at him, she nodded, "what do you want to know?" He sighed a little, ”Computer begin recording, Interview with Ensign Erin Cortez in regards to Incident Report 34c filed by Ensign Ravok and Civilian complaint 643ad filed by the Trill local authorities. Attach all audio files to both reports at the end of the Interview.” He awaited for the affirmative beep and then continued, “Ensign Cortez, so you’re aware, Ensign Ire Williams is under investigation by Tresh authorities due to an assault that happened earlier on today.” Carson paused for a moment to see if Erin had any response. Closing her eyes, she saw the flashes of the incident in her mind. "I'm aware, I was there and you know that. Why else would I be here?" ~She’s not as accustomed to the game as Ire was~ Carson thought as he pondered how to make her aware they were doing this for Ire’s sake. He didn’t want to make her have to relive something she was clearly traumatised by, if he didn’t have too. “Yes, that’s why you’re here. Ire has given a statement to me already, he’s clarified that you were there and I’m hoping you’ll be able to go through your version of events with me and we can get the whole situation cleared up.” "What's there to clear up? You have the report, you have the medical file. Why do you need me?" Erin’s aggressiveness through Carson for a moment, he hadn’t expected her to be so.. Angry. There was clearly something more involved in this for her somehow. “I’m sorry, perhaps I didn’t explain properly. The Tresh authorities are looking to charge Ire with assault and battery along with actual bodily harm of one of their people. I am sorry that you have to be here Ensign and I’d rather not need to order you to help, my understanding is that you and Ire are friends and you might want to willingly help with this investigation to clear his name?” "He… he stopped it from getting any further than it did. Before he got there, one of them hit me, bust my lip open, I fell…" ~She’s hard to read~ he nodded, “Ok, how about we begin with why you were there with these men in the first place and go from there?” Carson leant forward slightly. "Why? I was led there by a kid. No, sorry, that's not right. A kid told me their friend had been hurt so I followed them to help. That was a lie. That kid lead me right to them.," “How old would you estimate the child was? Can you describe them, did they give you a name?” Closing her eyes, Erin took a breath, "the younger one? 5 maybe 6 at the most. He was young. Dark hair maybe.." “No name?” Carson asked, a little disappointed. Looking at him, she could tell he was disappointed. "Sorry, it all happened so fast… I couldn't…" she caught her breath, stopped for a moment, "could I get that water please? “Of course,” Carson stood up and moved towards the replicator, “Water, Cold.” he said and the glass appeared. He sat back down and handed Erin the glass of water. Taking a sip, holding the glass in her hand, she could feel the coolness of the water on her palm as she spoke, "What else?" “So you beamed down with… Ensign Travis initially and then you followed this child into the woods because they needed help with something, or a friend was injured? How long did it take to get to the point where the incident happened?” "Maybe ten minutes, maybe less." “And, then what happened?” Carson said trying to prod Erin into giving a full account of the fight. "Then…. I walked into a clearing. Two were there waiting. The younger kid was evidently bait. The kid ran off, the older one, Derrin, spouted some anti Starfleet rubbish. I shouted and he hit me." “At what point did you feel threatened?” Carson asked exhaling Erin looked at him, "well, when he got in my face, when he paid the kid that got me there, when he hit me, when he grabbed my hair, take your pick." “I asked Ire this same question, was there a reason you didn’t just decide to call for a beam out?” "I was scared, I froze. The guy had just smacked me across the face!" She replied Carson nodded, ~I meant before he attacked, but..~ “Did you know Ensign Williams was following you?” "I had no clue. " “And when he caught up, talk me through what happened then?” Closing her eyes again, she gripped the glass, "he stopped them, tried to reason with them…. Make them leave but they wouldn't. D….derrin swung for Ire and he kicked him." “So in your view, Ensign Williams acted in self-defence and acted with a reasonable level of force?” "I don't want to even think about what happened let alone what could have happened if he hadn't shown up. Could we have beamed away? Yes. But he tried everything to stop them before it got to that point." “Ok, Computer end recording and attach to the relevant files. Thanks Erin, your ’re statement matches up with Ires and the video footage.” "Video? Someone caught the whole…." Looking away, she clenched her jaw tight. “Yeah, the journalist, Miss Biers. Good thing she did as well, makes it a great deal easier to prove your version of events.” Carson said as he shrugged slightly and began to destress his body. "Can I go? I just want to be alone right now." Carson nodded, “Of course.” He watched her as she got up and went to leave, “You know, if you ever need anyone just to talk to. You’ll find I’m a pretty good listener.” He said as she got to the door. ~Who counsels the counsellors~ he smiled internally at the thought. However, Remae and Billy were back on the surface and had undergone a few precautions with a protest or two. The Admiral had to see what was happening with the President and he had a gut feeling, something was going on and it wasn't going to get better. He was back in his hotel exercising the recommended social distancing after hearing that President wanted to see him again around 16.00, Billy was also next door and had started following the Admiral everywhere he went. He was grateful for the extra help as everyone else was now confined to the ship. =^= Admiral Remae, Counsellor Trei has just beamed down to the surface alone. Her current location is in the senate building. I wanted to make sure she had your authorisation to beam down to that location. Please respond. =^= "Not exactly, Ensign Shara - we'll go and get her. Close off the transporters. Lock down protocol. No-one else is to leave the ship. Also, I want to secure channel to the Andorian ship through my commbadge setup.", said the Admiral and a few moments later, the channel from Billy was open. (Reply from Shara) "Thanks Ensign.", he said and closed the channel. =^= Sir, I received the same message that Ravok had sent you. I just wanted to check in. Was Ensign Trei's trip authorized? I thought Ensign Ravenstone was our official diplomatic delegate from the counselling team. =^=, said Billy on the comm-channel, at least, he wasn't wearing standing at the door in his slippers this time. "Me too but we'd also confined the crew to the ship.", said the Admiral. =^= Do you want me to head over to the building, just in case? =^= "Go ahead, get her back to the ship and Billy, be careful. I'm heading over in about an hour.", he said, preparing his final notes for his meeting. (Trill - Dyl's Office - Senator Lorn Dyl - 1452) "It depends on what you are going to tell me. I am willing to do what I can to help the factions come together to build common ground." Trei said. Dyl smiled " The president wishes to harm your admiral. He plans on handing him over to the andorians and starting a war between the federation and the andorians." Lorn said with a deceptive look of concern on his face ( reply Trei) Before Dyl could respond security personnel swarmed the room. " Senator Dyl you are under arrest " Dyl sat there and looked at the counciler with anger. " Damn you and your federation! " He yelled as as jumped at her. Security shot with a phaser, stunning him into unconsciousness. " All clear Sir" security said as the president entered the room. He looked at Dyl being put in restraints with a look of disgust. Taylin looked at Trei. " Counciler, I am President Zon. I am sorry you had to endure such barbaric behavior. Senator Dyl was tricking you and I beleive was making an attempt to use you as a tool to disrupt diplomatic talks. Please counciler come with me your fellow officers will be here soon." Taylin stated with honesty and compassion. "President Zon. Thanks for seeing us again.", he said and looked around the room once more, but he wanted to bring up the illness they'd discovered, "A few of my people have become ill, President. Do you know anything about that?", he asked, carefully. He wanted to get this matter out of the way before talking more about membership. (Reply from Billy, Shara, Zon, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Trill - The Senate Building - Meeting -President Taylin Zon -1606) "President Zon. Thanks for seeing us again." " No, thank you for seeing us again." Taylin responded as he sat down. "A few of my people have become ill, President. Do you know anything about that?" The admiral asked. " Admiral that's news to me. I wasnt aware that any of your crew fell ill. If there is anything we can do to assist please dont hesitate to ask. We have a situation of our own here " Taylin said and waved his hand to one of his staff members to hand the Admiral a Padd containing a full unrestricted report of the Kopin Virus. ( reply Admiral) " As you can see the Kopin Virus is only infectious to symbiotes within the pools. If you or I were to take a swim he would be unharmed. Like I said if there nothing I can do to assist with the status of your crew I will spare any and all resources I can to assist. " ( reply admiral) " Admiral, ...I have the needed support of the Senate. Many who were against a rejoining with the federation have shifted their point of view realizing that we need the help of the federation to combat this virus. Our researchers have discovered an enzyme only produced in the Muktok plant grown on betazoid. The chemical compound within the plant that allow it to sustain itself for centuries known as cepontorine. Can neutralize the Virus , But this naturally formed compound is rendered inactive in any Muktok plant grown off of the Betazoid homeworld. So we would require direct trade with betazoid to obtain a pure source. Some will still remain unhappy with a joining with the federation, but our symbiote population is deeply woven into the fabric of our culture. ..." he said and took a deep breath and nodded to his staff member to slide another Padd in front of the admiral. "This is Trills offical request to join the united federation of planets. I understand if you are currently worried about a civil war but that will not be the case. Visual documentation has been provided to us by one of your journalist proving that our citizens attacked your officer. The ages of the two citizens are 17 and 18. Under Trill law they are considered adults at 16. So they will be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. ...Also as you very well may know a short while ago one of my senators tried manipulating one of your officers with lies and false propaganda. His actions of treason and deception have been made public, many who followed his andorian unification movement have reconsidered their stance because of the level of professionalism your young officers have displayed. The people are starting to realize the path to a brighter future lies with your hands admiral " Taylin concluded as he pointed to the PADD containing Trills offical request to rejoin ( reply admiral) ( posted by davis ) (USS Mystique – Holodeck 2 – aACEO – Ensign JG Keira Merek – 1610) Keira had worked much of the trip to Trill to get this program right. Tweaking every detail until it was just as she remembered it, her home world, Carraya IV. True it “allegedly” used to be a prison world, but that’s not how she remembered it. “Computer, load program Merek seven.” In an instant the yellow-grid on black was replaced by a jungle world. A large sweeping modernish gray concrete structure. Laid out around it were various houses made by hand tools, Quarried stone foundations, wooden log cabin style homes, or Starfleet colony shelters modified for a different type of living. Smoke from hearth fires could be seen curling out of stone and mortar chimneys. Going out from the large stone structure from opposite directions was a cobblestone road about the width of a shuttle craft. Off of that path river pebble walkways divided off from that, like little tributaries of their own leading to a cabin or cluster of cabins that belonged to a family group. She breathed in deeply. The smell of cut up ferns they used for roof thatching and livestock fodder filled the air, with just a hint of tropical flowers and the livestock manure, the smell was off, but fairly close. With out samples she couldn’t tweak it any more. She walked her way towards the outskirts of the village, and toward the largest storage barn. Her family wasn’t farmers, but her father being the administrator or “mayor” gave some privileges. Her mother had insisted the barns be painted red. “It was a tradition” she had told him, and wouldn’t have it any other way. She stopped several meters short of the entrance, “Computer. Make the program entry point here.” She instructed and the computer chirped in the affirmative. She continued up the path. Deviating from her childhood she placed two large arrow shaped signs pointing towards the main sliding barn doors, left half ajar, so that he would have to open them to see inside. The structure itself was what would be nearly 3 decks high, two upper levels for storage of fodder for the animals. Six wooden beams two feet wide each held the structure up. Attached to those were two separate floors, the highest the loft which was only enough room to stand if an adult crouched or slouched over. The second floor between the loft and the ground floor made an “L” shape on the left and back walls. Attached to various points were pulleys and attachment points for hoisting bales up to the loft or second floor for storage. It rained a lot here and if one wanted to keep things dry you had to get them off the ground. He would be arriving soon. Happy that her preparations were ready, she took position up in the loft. She would be able to see his approach and entry into the barn from where she was, but due to the lighting differences she wouldn’t be able to make her out, until his eyes adjusted. “Computer, add people suitable for this town. Pull people from program Merek 3.” The bustle of people carrying on and doing normal afternoon chores could be heard where once there was silence. In the distance the ring of hammer and anvil could be heard faintly as well. Now all there was left to do was wait for him to arrive. (Reply Ravok) (Posted by Todd) (USS Mystique – Holodeck 2 – TAC.
