Bring it on.~ she thought to herself as she walked into ops. Fixing a smile on her face, she walked over to billy and stood next to him, "Hey flash." “Yo Cortez, welcome to OPS. What brings you all the way out here?” "Brought you a coffee. I apologise for thinking you had something to do with the security screening incident. Friends?" She smiled sweetly as she handed him the cup. ~Such a sweet girl. Pretty too. Maybe I should ask her out. I totally misjudged her.~ “Thanks Erin,” Billy took the coffee cup that she offered him. He took it up to his nose and smelled it. “Oh my, is there vanilla in this. I love vanilla in my coffee. You are the absolute best.” "Anything to …. Billy then took a large sip of the coffee. Something didn’t sit right. Yeah there was the vanilla, but there was a stronger, more acrid taste that was not meshing well. He then spit out the coffee getting it all over his uniform and work station. “What the hell Cortez!!!” Laughing, she turned to walk away a second, then stopped, looked back and smiled sweetly, "That's for getting me stopped at security for 2 whole hours.: “What did you put in this coffee? I mean come on!!” With a wide grin, she walked back to his side, leant over his shoulder and whispered in his ear, "I always knew you were a salty old sea dog." "What the hell?" Billy was in rage. "I had nothing to do with your security delay. If you checked the logs you'd see that I passed the checkpoint and went straight to my room. The audio confirms it. Just like I told you yesterday. I made a bad joke sure. But I'm not so juvenile as to get you detained." "You could have done anything from there." "What you did was not cool. Not cool at all." "Aw, look. He's kind of cute when he's mad I figured him out. " she laughed to herself as she headed to the turbo lift. Billy was pissed. The audacity of Cortez. That she thought he actually cared enough about her existence to think he would have her purposefully detained. He wouldn't waste the security officer's time with a stupid stunt like that. ~Stupid Time Bomb. Thinks I'd actually screw her over like that. Who does she think I am? A five year old. Fine she wants me to be a jerk, I'll show that sexy jack ass who the king of the jerks is.~ Billy then quickly tapped the console and tapped into the transporter from his work station. He locked onto Cortez and beamed her into the Hangar bay down on Mars." "Have fun getting home Time bomb. You jerk." His anger did not remove the taste of salt from his mouth. He knew that Trip was making sure that he did not endanger himself or others, but he knew that the drones were safe to use and although he knew that he understood Trips reservations. ~Okay Ire. They were sleeping on cots in the Engineering office. It hadn’t even been a day and his body was already used to the regulated nature of what he was doing. Always was the same for her when she knew that she was about to discuss some things that she never liked talking about. She sat, clenching and unclenching her hands as she waited to be called into the inner room. “Ensign Cortes, Doctor Browne will see you now.” Erin nodded her thanks to the receptionist and walked through the corridor and into the counselling room. Her doctor, smiling as always, sat beside the traditional couch. Sighing, Erin took a seat and looked at her. “Morning.” “Good morning Erin. How are we today?” “Well, if you discount getting transported out of a turbolift into a hanger bay by an annoying man, perfectly fine.” Raising an eyebrow, Doctor Browne smiled, “Care to elaborate?” “He was just a bit mad that i may have put salt in his coffee.” “Any reason for that?” “Well, he claims that he didn’t get me stopped for a full, and i mean full, security screening when i got here.” “Ah, i see. Tell me something, Erin…. You hide behind humour a lot don’t you?” “I don’t understand, in what way?” “Well, there’s an old saying. You hurt the ones you love.” Coughing her surprise, Erin opened her eyes wide, “Wait, you think i….. Oh no…. Uh uh. I mean sure, he’s kind of cute but….” “But what?” Sighing, “I mean, come on. I’m no catch. You read my file.” Nodding, Doctor Browne replied, “I did, you went through something that left its mark on you, physically and mentally.” “Certainly did, I don’t think i have had a decent nights sleep since its happened.” “You feel like sharing those dreams?” Erin shook her head, “No. not really.” Doctor Browne sighed heavily, “Erin, sometimes when we suffer a great trauma, our natural defence mechanism is to hide away. So no-one else can hurt us. We don’t let people in, we hide in humour and anger. Until one day, one of two things happens. Either that darkness wins and we go quietly into the night, so to speak or... “ “Or?” Leaning forward, Doctor Browne looked at her, “... or we have to let someone in, someone who we know may hurt us but could also be a healer. Someone who will take all our pain, fear and worry and make it disappear.” Sinking back into the couch, Erin nodded, “I just don’t know if i am ever going to be able to do that. “ “You will, in time.” (Mars Facility – Civilian Section - Engin JG Erin Cortes - 1136 ) After talking for an hour, Erin headed out of the office and found herself walking down the street of the civilian sector that held her doctor’s office lost in her own thoughts. ~ Damn it, she is good. Alaya waited with the pilot was was assigned to fly them. She had several boxes of supplies that they were loading into the runabout, including food, drink, alcohol and more mundane supplies like Alaya's silk, goosedown stuffed sleeping bag, matching pillow, and her daypack. As other officers arrived, Alaya directed them where to put their gear and that they would be leaving at promptly 1300. Alaya had made sure to send a memo to the admiral's office and she had informed security, so a female security officer -should- be attending since it was still mandatory to take security when going off base. Alaya was excited, bouncing on the tips of her toes as people continued to arrive. At promptly 1300 the runabout sealed it's hatch, all the ladies were strapped in and they were on their way for a little over 28 hours of no guys whatsoever. It was going to be great. (reply all ladies - assume we land at 1400-ish) (posted by Mel) (Mars Facility - Landing Pad B - aACEO - Ensign JG Keira Merek -1225) Keira walked out to the landing pad, still reeling emotionally the night before. There was a lot to process, but this little camping trip would probably help clear her head. Her Starfleet survival classes had been fun and easy for her, as she grew up on what essentially was a frontier colony. She brought what were lighter weight versions of what she would have taken with on any other excursion: collapsable personal shelter, a sleeping bag that was rated to -10°C with blanket, a small tarp, 30 meters of cordage, several blades for utility and personal defense, foldable entrenching tool, two days worth of survival rations and water all tucked away and packed in a ruck to make it easy to carry. In her right hand she carried a case that held a compound bow with several arrows in case there was hunting available. (Reply Ravenstone) "Keira Merek, I'll be your pilot for this excursion." She said. (Reply Ravenstone) "I am in Engineering, I don't tell everyone I can fly, but I hold a class A rating for everything except the fighters." She admitted. (Reply Ravenstone) "Thank you." (Reply Ravenstone, any) (Posted by Todd) (Mars - Campground Nirvana - COUNS Alaya Ravenstone- 1400) They had landed at the campground and Alaya was the first out of the shuttle. The brochure had listed the place as a forested hideaway, perfect for corporate retreats and individual families looking to get away from it all. Unsurprisingly it did not live up to the hype. The forested hideaway consisted of about 7 trees, the fast running stream was maybe a foot deep if that, and the rustic cabins were indeed rustic. As in falling down and unusable. Alaya felt let down, but the other women did not seem to be as concerned, so she helped to unload the runabout. There was a large firepit in the center that they could set up their sleeping bags around. The swimming hole looked clean and much deeper. There were multiple grills to cook on, and there was a net in a sand pit to play volleyball. Had Alaya brought a volleyball? The runabout had a large replicator, it could make anything that they were missing. If the toilets and showers were as bad as the cabins, Alaya figured they could use the facilities in the runabout. It was one of the reasons she wanted one of the bigger shuttlecrafts for the jaunt. Alaya separated herself from the group and called home, touching her comm badge, "Counselor Ravenstone to security-mars base. We're at the campground safely. Tell the Admiral that we're having fun. Hopefully I won't have to contact before the prearranged times." Part of the trip authorization was that Alaya checked in at several points, the times known to her, the Admiral, Ensign Taya and Ensign Peters. If she didn't check in on time, or checked in with an emergency codeword, they would be rescued. The base was still on lock down, and bad things were still happening. Alaya headed back towards the group and looked forward to this party really kicking off. After she set her wrist chronometer to remind her of the next check in. She had a back pack on and a brown leather jacket with matching pants and boots that buckled up to her knees. She looked around as the other women who were all younger than her grabbed their belongings. she noticed Ensign Merek had a portable shelter ~ Great thinking~ She thought to herself considering the cabins were in a sorry state . Kora walked over to the unlit fire pit and took her back pack off and dropped it on the ground . " Claimed " she stated out loud . Laying claim to her place of rest. Kora than broke pulled some stones that when heated to a certain temperature would ignite in flames across their surfaces. She laid them in the fore pit and pulled out a low level civilian phaser and shot the the stones in a steady beam of green light to ignite them. She looked around at the less than great conditions of the cabins and the grounds. The water hole did look fun and the fire pit looked sufficient. She went into the runabout to get her stuff and find a cabin. She did not know who she will be rooming with. It will likely be a surprising experience for her and her roomie. She pictured herself turning cartwheels down to the cabin. In her uniform dress, it would not be executed well. She remembered her cheer camp days fondly. Even if he didn't make any new fans, at least there would be some introduction to the Earthen tradition of sports watching party. "Dude, you think anyone is gonna show?" Billy asked his cousin. They were both dressed in kahki shorts and tennis shoes. Billy was wearing a red jersey and red ball cap for the Rangers. Trip was wearing matching white jersey and ball cap. Both had replicated the jersey with the number 25 and Brightwood's last name on the back. "Totally, at least Ravok will, he lives across the hall. He smells beer, I bet he pounces." Trip replied, "Besides game isn't until 19:00. There is still time." "Yeah, should be fun though. What flavor wings, did you get?" Trip smiled, "Buffalo, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, Barbecue, Atomic Hot, Teriyaki, and Honey Mustard. Beer is all imported too. Shiner Bock and Shiner Blonde, just the way Gramps would want it." Billy grabbed two beers from the cooler than joined his cousin on the section of the couch facing the view screen for the pregame. Handing a Shiner Blonde to his cousin he smiled, "Well let the party begin." (Reply guys) (posted by Will) (Mars Facility – Outside Willliams-Verin Family Quarters – Medical Officer – Ensign JG Dural Methor DrPH – 1902) Dural was about to participate in a to his mind a curious Earth custom. The watching of broadcasted athletic events. Per his invitation by Ensign Williams or “Trip” as he liked to be called he showed up in a favored team’s sports “jersey” as he was informed it was called. He had one of the “Niners” Jerseys replicated because of it’s depiction of a Cardassian station on their logo, and as such it was as close to a “home team” as he was going to get. He chose #22 Bashir, as like himself Bashir was a medical doctor. In his right hand balanced was a plate of hors d'oeuvres that he had prepared himself. Luckily he was able to find a place to cook them. They sat waiting in the dish with a cover for them to be revealed. In his left hand was a whole unopened bottle of Kanar. He activated the door chime. (Reply Trip) “Hello, Trip. Am I too early?” he said pleasantly. (Reply Trip) “Ah, I brought these to share.” He opened the lid revealing what was inside. “I have brought meat skewers, that were vacuum sealed in Kanar with for marination for 3 hours, shredded, formed into spheres then wrapped in bacon and topped with cheese, and baked until cooked through.” (Reply Trip) “The bacon was replicated, but meat spheres, lets say the arboretum doesn’t have a squirrel problem anymore.” He said. “I have also brought Kanar to drink. Thinking we could talk and share foods from our perspective cultures.” (Reply Trip, any) (Posted by Todd) (Mars Facility – Outside Willliams-Verin Family Quarters – aFSXO Ensign JG Trip Williams and Mission OPS Ensign JG Billy Alexander - 19:03) As the door chimed Trip went to the door, looking at his cousin he gave the silent nod that said, save my seat you jackwagon. “Hello, Trip. Am I too early?” he said pleasantly. "Well they say first pitch is at 19:00, but usually doesn't happen until 19:15. Something to do with all the commercials, so you are right on time." “Ah, I brought these to share.I have brought meat skewers, that were vacuum sealed in Kanar with for marination for 3 hours, shredded, formed into spheres then wrapped in bacon and topped with cheese, and baked until cooked through.” "Awesome, you can out them over there on the kitchen table." “The bacon was replicated, but meat spheres, lets say the arboretum doesn’t have a squirrel problem anymore.” He said. “I have also brought Kanar to drink. Thinking we could talk and share foods from our perspective cultures.” ~Squirrel meat, uggh, gross, but I guess the bacon should fix the squirrelness of it all right?~ "Why don't you go ahead and have a seat over by my cousin Billy and I'll go ahead and take these. Oh and you can eat as many squirrels as you want, but probably best not to eat anything like a dog or a cat. I'm pretty sure my sister will kill you if you do." (reply Dural) Billy waved over at Dural and waited for him to approach. "Hey Man, welcome to the party. I see you're dressed the part. Not sure I'm familiar with Niners team." (Reply Dural) In the meanwhile, the door chimed again, Trip went and opened it again. It was Ravok, Hello Sir. I smelled some beer , figured I'd pounce." He said with a smile. "We can drop the Sirs for the moment. At least for the party come on in" " Hello everyone " Ravok said as he placed the foam fingers down. " Everyone, feel free to take one" he said as he motioned to the foam fingers. ~Those things better not block my view.~ "Computer, keep door open." Trip said as the door remained open instead of closing. He then turned back to Ravok. "The beer is in the cooler, and their is food on the table. Chicken wings, Brats, some meat skewers." Trip then leaned in and whispered. "Between you and me, Dural brought squirrel meet skewers. Eat and your own risk." (reply Ravok) (reply Ravok, Dural, Any who show up) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Mars Facility – Willliams-Verin Family Quarters - Pilot Ensign jg Ravok 19:06) Ravok walked out of his quarters and across the hall to Trips quarters. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans. He also had a few foam finger in his hands for everyone and a flask of Romulan ale in his pocket. He pressed the pad next to the door to chime it . (Reply Trip) " Hello Sir. I smelled some beer , figured I'd pounce." He said with a smile. ( reply any) " Hello everyone " Ravok said as he placed the foam fingers down.
