He was already recovering quickly from the run due to the higher oxygen content of the martian atmosphere. It was slightly less than that of earth due to being thinner but higher than his own home planet. "Forgot your weapon sir?" He noted that PO Hammons was also present, him having announced himself with the comment. Sekal paused an instant to give him an uninterested look. "Mister Hammons I'm certain that your sense of humor does you justice however your comment is correct. I have no weapon which is a situation that needs to be corrected." "Here you go." Another security officer tossed him a pistol grip hand phaser which he caught and checked for charge before attaching it to his belt after which he moved to the transporter control station. After determining that it was keyed to the Mystique's communications frequency.he hit the comm button "Luma this is Sekal, we are ready to transport up. Please lower the shields." (Reply: Luma) He stepped up onto the transporter pad and nodded to the senior officers from security. "On your order Ensign Peters." (Reply Peters, Taya, any present) (Posted by Charles Gatling) (Mars Base, Runabout Delilah Transport Station- SecTac, Ens(jg) Carson Peters - 0003) Once Carson had gotten a handle on how many Security Officers he'd be taking onboard with him, he had sent a message to the Sec Ops Centre to send a second and tertiary team ready to beam aboard when and if required. As he finished giving those commands he heard the roar of some sort of ground vehicle heading towards them at high speed, "Form up." he said to the officers already present. Having no idea what would be travelling at that speed towards them, he wanted them prepared to fight if required. As the vehicle got closer, it became apparent that it wasn't some unknown enemy but Ensign Taya. The security officers relaxed as they watched Carson shoulder his rifle as Taya hopped out of the vehicle, turned and walked up to them and said "Any house in a storm," with a grin. "So, what's the situation?" Carson nodded and invited her closer into the group, "We don't have all the information yet, but it seems a heavily armed team has beamed themselves onto the Mystique. Luma..." he looked around the security operatives currently present, he didn't have time to explain Luma to them all, "... the ship, has trapped them. We're going in to neutralise and capture this team." (Reply Taya iyw) "Sekal said they beamed in from Jupiter Station." Carson said, ~Damn, slow.. too slow.~ He'd been too preoccupied with getting onto the Mystique and capturing the assailants, he'd entirely forgotten about where they'd come from. He looked to Taya with wide eyes and tapped his comm. badge, "Peters to Security Operations, I need a fully armed team to beam up to Jupiter Station and clear it floor by floor. Use whoever is free, wake people up if required. If you find anyone, arrest them." =^=Yes, Sir.=^= came the response. NRPG: If Darpeg/Flagg/Tamblyn want to take charge of this team feel free. If anyone wants to NPC a Security Officer and help clear Jupiter base go for it. RPG: "Sirs!" Carson heard from behind him, he turned around and saw Petty Officer Hammons receiving a rifle. "I'm assuming we want prisoners if at all possible." he said as he checked over his weapon. "That's the idea." Carson responded and then raised his voice, "Set to heavy stun." and just as he said that he saw Sekal enter the compartment. Hammons beat him to greeting the Vulcan, "Forgot your weapon, Sir?" "Mister Hammons I'm certain that your sense of humor does you justice however your comment is correct. I have no weapon which is a situation that needs to be corrected." Sekal replied dryly. "Do we have a location for where the attackers are Sekal?" Carson asked the Vulcan as he brought up an internal map of the Mystique. (Reply Sekal, Taya, Hammons) Aware that urgency is needed, they took a few moments to develop a plan. Where they would beam in and how they would overpower the attackers. Some point during that conversation Ensign Foxglove sidled up, Carson privately wondered how she'd gotten wind of what was happening so quickly. He wasn't keen on taking Sekal into battle and now he had a Foxglove he needed to keep an eye on too. "Luma this is Sekal, we are ready to transport up. Please lower the shields." Sekal said once they were happy with the plan. Carson pulled his rifle so it was ready for use and stepped onto the transporter pad as Sekal said, "On your order Ensign Peters." He nodded and then said, "Be patient and swift. Be safe and look out for each other. I'm sure they're aware we're incoming so lets get this over with. Energize" Carson watched the security officer he'd asked to stay behind and manually manage the transporters press a button and then he and his team dematerialised. (USS Mystique, Corridor 34a - SecTac, Ens(jg) Carson Peters - 0011) The team materialised with their weapons out on Corridor 34a, which was a little away from transporter room 3. They had wanted to get onto the ship before making a decision on how to proceed. Carson looked around, made some hand signals and watched as the team spread out and take defensive positions. "Luma," he said, relatively quietly but loud enough for the computers systems to pick up. "Are they still trapped in Transporter Room 3?" (Reply Luma, Taya, Foxglove, Hammons, Sekal) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (USS Mystique, Corridor 34a - aACSO - Ensign Sekal- 0012) The transport up had been successful and Sekal stepped around a corner with phaser in hand to take cover as the rest of the team did so. Hammons and another one of the group double- timed it as they moved down the corridor he had currently ducked into and made a right behind him. There was another junction further down that would bring them back to corridor 34- A on the far side of the transporter room and allow them to flank the door. Petty Officer Hammons had made good use of Luma's approval to download specifications for the ship it appeared and had taken some time during the day to study its layout. So far there had been no sign of activity and no sound of phaser fire. The door to the transporter room was closed and showed no signs of being forced. Carson Peters spoke quietly from the opposite corner. Luma are they still trapped in Transporter Room 3?" There was a whisper from a nearby speaker. (Reply: Luma) Sekal lowered his voice which carried little farther than the two senior officers. "While surrounding the intruders and facing them down with weapons would be suitably heroic we have come across one already with a willingness to commit suicide and if these are agents of the same organization..." he gestured toward the door, "..., might I suggest anesthezine gas instead? If they can be rendered unconcious we would have a chance of forestalling any attempts to kill themselves before they could be thoroughly questioned." (Reply: Peters, Taya) (Posted by Charles Gatling) (Mars Facilities – Yacht Crash Site – aACEO – Ensign JG Keira Merek – 0530) With the wreckage sufficiently cooled, now was the time to do her examination of the remains. She grabbed a breakfast sandwich she ate on the way and two thermoses of coffee, one with cream, double sweet, the other black, and three plastic mugs attached with cordage to the handle of one thermos. She made it out there in good time. ~I wonder if Trip is going to make it out here.~ The sun was just peeking over the horizon casting a blueish hue over Mars’ red dirt fields. The color wasn’t what she was used to, but all the same it symbolized hope and new beginnings. ~We could use some hope right about now.~ She approached the guard detail. She was happy to see that it was not the same three security personnel standing out here as last night, so they had worked out some sort of rotation. She opened a nearby tail gate and placed both thermoses and the cups on it. “Anything to report from last night?” She asked the senior guard, all three were in full cold weather regalia. “No, ma’am.” He reported his exhalation forming vapor as it hit the cold morning air. “No one approached the wreckage? No one touched it?” She inquired. “No. No one, Ma’am.” He said still a consummate professional. “Good. I brought some coffee here, and mugs. Have you and your guys rotate through to grab something to drink. I have one with cream and sugar on the left and one that’s just black on the right. I need at least one to stay back at the crash site to watch my back, the other two please warm up. I’ll be out here at least another hour or two.” She explained. The one she was speaking to went to the other two, said a few short things out of ear shot then pointed to the coffee offered. He was the first to stay behind. Despite having security watch her, she was still armed with a type I hand phaser and her fold up blade. She pulled the fleece cap a little more snugly around her ears and started scanning. (Reply any security, Trip Williams if you want) (Posted by Todd) (Mars Facilities – Yacht Crash Site – aFSXO ENS JG Trip Williams - 0535) One of these days Trip was going to get a proper nights sleep. He was technically supposed to have this day off, he had given those who flew the mission the day off to recover, as they exceed their continuous flight time allowance. But, there was no rest for the weary and he figured that since he technically was restricted to quarters when not on duty, being on duty at least got him out of the house so to speak. Still, he was unable to sleep on his first night on Mars. Maybe had 6 hours the second night, the 3rd night, well he didn't get much rest that night, and what would have been his fourth night on Mars he spent on a mission. He managed close to 5 hours of sleep, but he was exhausted and was planning a very healthy afternoon nap. Regardless he was definitely taking an off day as soon as he finished whatever work he needed to do. Especially since Sy could only sleep when he was sleeping, he knew his unfortunate sleep schedule was not just hindering one officer, it was hindering two. He looked out at the blue sunrise, it was unique and foreign to him. He had seen many a sunrise and sunset on Earth, but never seen one Mars yet. It was such a beautiful sunrise on Mars. Though he hoped this was the last one he saw for awhile. He needed his sleep. With a loud yawn he walked up to ensign Merek. "Good morning." (reply Merek) "How bout the next time one of our craft blows up, we uh, do the investigation a little bit later in the day." Trip said with a chuckle. He then handed the Ensign an aluminum cylinder. He was holding one in his other hand. "Thought you might like something warm and with caffeine. Had the replicator make it. All of my female classmates in high school loved this stuff. I guess for some reason I do to. I guess that makes basic. You'd think the craze would have died out in the 21st century, but apparently pumpkin spice lattes have withstood the test of time." (reply Merek) "So, any clues from the wreckage, my money is still on old, but while my dad is a brilliant engineer, I only got through my engineering classes thanks to tutoring, so your guess is worth 50 of mine." (reply Merek) (reply Merek) (posted by Will) (Mars Facility – Sickbay –Ensign jg Ravok Shara -civilian specialist engineer Kora – 0548) Ravok opened his eyes and looked around the dimly lit room. He saw a stuffed animal, a peregrine falcon on the table next to his bed. He also saw a single flower next to it. As his eyes focused past that he saw his step mother Kora sitting in the chair to his left. Ravok smiled and sat himself up, he was still a little sore but a good nights rest and the stimulants had helped. "Mom ...wake up " He said to her. Kora opened her eyes and looked over at Ravok and smiled . She sat her self up and placed her hand behind her back and stretched. " ahhhhhh " she said in relief. " How are toy feeling Lathuel?" She asked him. " I feel alot better than yesterday. Still a little sore but alot better. " Ravok said to her . He glanced back to the table . " You really brought me a stuffed animal? " Ravok asked with a laugh. As grabbed it and picked it up to look at it . " No , it was here when I got here . Someone must of stopped in and left it for you . " Kora replied to him. "So you brought me the flower, that's very ...umm sweet of you mom" he said with a smirk. " No, that was brought here last night by Ensign Merek " she said to him . Ravoks eyes widened in shock. " Ensign Keira Merek?" He asked nervously. "Yes Ensign Keira Merek, the pretty blonde romulan girl." Kora said with a smile. " oh man" Ravok said as he put his hand on his face in embarrassment. " I cant believe she saw me like this ..wha..what did she say ?" He asked his mother " She came in and right away commented on your impressive biceps " Kora said with a laugh as she held her gut. Ravok looked at her with a stern look " No, seriously what did she say?" Asked Ravok. "She just stopped by to pay respects to the hero pilots of Mars. That's all everyone is talking about . How Ensign trip Williams led his team into the heart of battle. She wanted to tell you something. But her Rihannsu is a little different from the dialect we use I believe she said ""I wait"" maybe she meant I'll wait . I dont know , but none the less a pretty romulan woman stopped in and and left you a flower . " Kora replied with a big smile. " We aren't heroes. We did what we had to do. I dont feel like a hero anyway...mom I have something to tell you but keep it between us and by that I mean keep your big klingon mouth shut " he said with a laugh. " Remember I told you about a pretty half romulan girl from the academy? Well that's Ensign Merek. " he said to Kora looking at her. Kora nodded her head " You dont think I already knew that? How many Romulans are running around starfleet ? Not many. She is very nice and even speaks klingon. She honored me with it upon meeting her. " she said to him " Well let's just keep it cool for now mom please , I dont need you embarrassing me...hows Ensign Petrova? " he asked Kora looked towards Ensign Petrovas room " She is stable but they are sending her to earth today at some point for more care. You may not think you are not heroes ,but you are " she said as she looked back at Ravok. " Have you seen Trip Williams? My commanding officer ? " Ravok asked. " I do believe hes the handsome young man sleeping like a baby on the couch in the waiting room . Hes been there all night I guess making sure the two of you were alright " Kora responded Ravok smiled . " That sounds like Trip, he a good man mother. The medical staff said I should be able to leave around 0600 under my own authority. I just have to take it easy for a few days. Crewman Baker will probably have to handle my flight duties. As soon as I leave here my mandatory bereavement starts" He said to his mother " Bereavement, why do humans always think the best way to get over a loss is to strip away someone's responsibility? So you can dwell in your misery?" Kora stated . Ravok shook his head " No, I understand the importance. If my head isnt cool I could cause an incident to happen. And that could cost lives. Duty before everything , and that's a part of duty mom" " How are you feeling about your father?" Kora asked him. He took a deep breath and looked down " I know he wasnt happy when I decided to join Starfleet but he was proud of me. I am just filled with what ifs . He wont be here to see me become whatever I become in my career. He wont see me get a command of my own. He wont get to see the man I will be " Ravok said sadly. " Maybe he will see you from Vorta Vor, just maybe he knew what you would become without having to see t for himself. After you left for the academy he couldn't stop talking about how his son was going to be a starfleet captain one day . Calling the shots. He would talk about it so much that our ears were practically bleeding . You were the best thing he had ....you are the best thing I have. We were always gonna be proud of you . No matter what Lathuel. From the first time I took you from your father's arms to calm you becUse he couldn't , I knew you were something special. I was a 20 year old klingon girl holding the Romulan baby of my new boss , what did I know about anything but when you looked up at me and smiled as I held you for the first time. I knew one thing , I knew that no matter what I was gonna be there for you and that I was meant to be there for you perhaps your real mother knew you needed me and I needed you " Kora said as she reached over and held his hand . " You have me and I have you . Together we have each other and that is what family is my son" Ravok looked at her and smiled " I love you mother" " I love you too" she replied Suddenly a nurse entered the room holding a PADD. " Good morning Ensign Shara, how are you feeling ? " the nurse asked him. " I'm feeling like I need a hot shower and some Ceasar salad, oh and by the way its Ensign Ravok. Not Ensign Shara "he responded to the nurse . " Oh , forgive me I am terribly sorry. I just thought Shara was your surname " she responded Kora looked at the nurse . " It is but his family is from Calanista on Romulus. People from that area traditionally go by their first name after a title . So Ensign Ravok is the appropriate way to address him. It was deemed confusing when many people from the same family shared a common title. It's a tradition thing. " Kora explained . " Now I know , thank you for explaining it to me . Anyways Ensign Ravok , one last check of your vitals and I will have you discharged. " the nurse said as she checked the computer and read his vitals . " My my you romulans heal fast like your vulcan cousins. That super metabolism is very impressive . Everything looks to be in order. Let me get started on your discharge" the nurse stated as she turned to leave the room. Ravok looked at his mother." Finally " he said suddenly an alert came through to his location. It was a message from the admiral that appeared on the view screen in his room ---"There will a mandatory meeting at 1000 in the Mars Operations Centre for all to attend.’"----- it read. Ravok took a deep breath and smiled " I guess the party never ends " ( reply none ) ( posted by Davis) (Mars Facility – Security Complex, Brig– OPS/SEC- CPO Charles Tamblyn – 0550) Even though his wife was sitting in the brig and he was investigating her movements over the last week, that was no reason why he couldn't take breakfast to her. As he entered the area, Charles realized that Arouk was the only one in the brig, "Morning, sweetheart. How you doing?" The one and only current resident of the Mars brig raised up on her elbow to look back at him, "I'm getting lots of rest, but I could use some entertainment. You interested, handsome." "With you, I am always interested." He said with a little lecherous smirk. "But were not supposed to do such things in here. "I figured we could have breakfast together." He continued as he lifted the tray in his hands. Arouk stood up, "I would like that." "I need you to go place your hands in the circles on the back bulkhead before I drop the security field." "Are you serious? I'm your wife." "Do you want breakfast or not?" "You butt" She said as she went to the back bulkhead and placed her hands in the circles. Tamblyn opened the cell, stepped in with the food tray. After setting the tray at the foot of the bunk. After reactivating the security field of the cell with him still inside the cell with Arouk. He then stepped up behind his wife, turned her around and embraced Arouk in a deep passionate kiss. As Charles and Arouk sat inside her cell eating their breakfast together as they talked. Tamblyn knew that the servailence system was fully functioning, which is why they decided not to have sex in the cell. Not like they had never done that sort of thing before; just not while he was serving in a Starfleet capacity of some kind. "Arouk, I get wanting to surprise me by coming to Mars, but you know better than to break into my place. I need to know, something." She looked at him a little concerned, "What's that, babe." "Have you taken any freelance jobs recently?" "Something's happened, hasn't it?" She said surprised. "I Thought I was still in here as part of some kinky re-enactment from when we met." "Sorry to disappoint you, darling. I can't be the one to exonerate you. Afterall, I have a personal bias." He finished with a wink. "I'll say you do." As she leaned over and kissed him. When they finally broke their kiss, Charles stood up and said, "I hate to leave you here, but I have to get to work." (Reply None needed) (Posted by Charles R.) (Mars Facility – Admiral’s Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0600) Remae walked into his small office and the doors open and closed for him automatically, it wasn't always the case and the manual act of opening the door had been replaced. A sign of the repairs around the base were proceeding. Little things, doors, lights, replicators were being repaired. ~ 6 days ~ The price had been high, the destruction of the Captain's Yacht and the investigation which was proceeding and Ensign Petrova remained in Sickbay. There had been calls to move her to Starfleet Medical on Earth but she was one of them, and she was being treated by the best. The Admiral had given the medical teams access to as many resources as he could muster and included in the regular shipments from Earth had been additional medical personnel, equipment and so on. He also knew other issues were going on but he wasn’t aware, not everyone is going to now everything, not even him. The roster was on his viewscreen and it contained a list of all the senior officers of the base. He'd spent time working on it overnight and had made some changes, some of them a little outside the box but Mars wasn't your typical duty station. "Computer, send a message to all Mars Station officers : ‘There will a mandatory meeting at 1000 in the Mars Operations Centre for all to attend.’" [[ Sent ]] "Computer another message, this time to Ambassador Addison MacCaulay : ‘Ambassador, there will be a meeting of all officers at 10:00 inside the new Operations Centre, can you please join us, I will need your help with the Trill mission discussion.’" [[ Sent ]] He stood up again and took a copy of the roster on a PADD with him. (Mars Facility – Security Complex– OPS/SEC- CPO Charles Tamblyn – 0750) Tamblyn sat at his desk to finishing up the reports from the skirmish against infiltrators onboard Jupiter Base at way the he'll too damn early in the morning. He was glad that he had time for a nap and shower before having breakfast with his wife, Anouk. Charles was thankful that he did not jave to write any letters to loved ones expressing condolences. As young and as inexperienced as the team that was with him was, they did an exemplary job of following directions, working together, and showing initiative. All of which he mentioned in his report. Once his reports were complete, he then attached the files to a message that he sent to the acting Chief of Security Officer. In the message, the chief petty officer wrote, "Sir, attached are my official reports of Jupiter Base skirmish against infiltrators with whom my team and I engaged early this morning. While at the end there was a total of 6 minor injuries, 1 recovering in sickbay with a concussion, my team suffered zero fatalities. "Of the insurgents; 3 fatalities, 1 injured in solitary confinement, 1 escaped." Charles read over his quick narrative and was happy with it. From what he understood, the team that went to the Mystique had a more eventful morning. He sent his message and proceeded to get prepared for the Admiral's meeting. (Reply None needed) (Posted by Charles R.) (Mars Facility – Admiral’s Office - aFSXO Ens JG Trip Williams and Mission OPS Ens JG Billy Alexander – 0800) If there was one word to describe William Santiago Alexander Jr. it would be this, average. He wasn't the kind of guy who would stand out in a crowd. He was competent of course, but he was aptly described as a Jack of all trades and a master of none. But this was something he knew from an early age. Coming from a family with a large Starfleet tradition, with admirals on either side of the family tree, one would think that Billy, as he liked to be called, would be an over competitive perfectionist, but he left that role to his older brother. No, Billy knew from an early age that he was remarkably ordinary, and he used that to his advantage. While his sibling and cousins were constantly competing to be the best, Billy knew he would be adequate and instead lived life with a very laid back easy going personality. He had a remarkably high confidence level and self-esteem due to the fact he knew, that he would always be just good enough, never great, but he was always good enough to make the cut. Knowing that, he didn't need to fret or worry or panic whenever things seemed to be going wrong. Instead he smiled, improvised and was happy. In fact in a survey designed to test cadets happiness level Billy scored at the highest. Of course he also graduates smackdab in the middle of his class. Average. This was in stark contrast to his cousins and siblings who seemed destined for greater things. While Billy was a wonderful person that everyone liked, he knew he would probably never make captain, but he loved the thought of being in Starfleet. Were he did excel was the peopleness of it all. He was confident, not cocky, always smiling, happy, and accessible. He never got threatened and he never threatened anyone. With those dimples he was more likely to hugged than strangled. His only hope for advancement, before getting lost in the shuffle of a department, was to find himself a good clerical job in his career. His easy going laid back personality hid the reality that he was a well organized individual with a surprising knack for remembering where he put almost everything. His brothers favorite action figure was still buried on his family ranch out in East Texas, exactly were he buried it at age 5. Billy still knew exactly where it was and how to find. He just made sure he was never going to tell his brother D.J. where it was. In fact his memory was the only thing about him that wasn't average. So when he graduated from the academy and his cousins Trip and Sienna were sent to Mars, as much as he wanted to be with them, he was hoping that something more his speed came up. Finally it did. A posting that was perfect for him, it only took a while for enough people ahead to turn it down before he finally got the call. Admiral Remae Ktell on Mars needed someone to work with him in Mission OPS. Someone to answer hails, coordinate resources, someone to basically be the admiral's assistant, remember where he put things. The kind of desk job that Billy could excel at and maybe just maybe he wouldn't be an ensign forever. Which was ok with him as long as it was a cool department, but he rather do something that allowed him to be useful, not just scanning gaseous anomalies because all the other science officer were above average enough to go study a black hole. As he beamed into the OPS center he saw a familiar face sitting at a small make shift table outside the admiral's office sorting through PADDs. It was his cousin Trip. He, Trip, Sy, and their cousin Miranda were all born in the same year. Trip and Sy were the oldest, but only by a week, Miranda was the youngest of the foursome by about 3 months. She as also the only one not to go into Starfleet. Opting instead to move to Texas permanently and help take care of the animals spread throughout the Williams family ranch compound. They were a tight group, but obviously Billy seemed to be closer to his cousin Trip as they were part of the Williams boys lineage at William T. Riker high school that started with their cousin J.T. Hart, then Billy's brother D.J., and followed by the two of them. The cool kids. Though Billy was more of Trip's sidekick than anything else. Billy was pleased to be assigned to Mars with his cousins. Trip was busy making his way through the admiral's mail so to speak as part of his punishment for having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate. The top one on the stack was new, and it was an order from Starfleet Medical to ready Ensign Petrova for transport to Earth by 0900 hours. He made sure to send note of that to the medical team and then put it aside to make sure the Admiral saw it. Most of it was boring, a couple request for the Admiral to go open up new business in town, a request from the manager of the Sands for the admiral to take part in the next open mic night, and a very cheesy poem sent to the Admiral from his wife on the U.S.S. Wraith. Trip made sure to put that at the top of the Admiral's to read pile. ~Fifteen PADDs down, only like 200 more to go.~ As Trip looked up from what appeared to be his endless nightmare he locked eyes with his cousin, and bolting out his chair gave Billy a huge hug. "Billy you weirdo, what the hell are you doing here?!" Trip exclaimed. Billy just smiled at Trip nonchalantly, "Well when enough eager young graduates decide that they are too important to answer an Admiral's mail, well it means a middle of the pack Jack gets the desk job he was hoping for." "Dude, I'm glad you're here, with you, me, Sy, and Lynn here, we'll be running this joint in no time." Trip was excited to have his cousin around. Billy was always there to get into trouble with him, and talk him out of getting into trouble. "Yeah and I'm pretty sure I saw Ashlyn Jones at the landing PADD in business clothes, but she looked to pretty to be Ashlyn, so I'm probably just being nostalgic." Billy added, "So what are you doing with the Admiral's PADDs?" "Long story, reprimand and punishment," Trip replied embarrassed. "Should only be temporary." "Well, once the admiral gives me my marching orders, I'll give you a hand." Billy flashed a disarming smile and gave his cousin another hug. They were a hugging family. Billy gave his cousin a quick fake salute and walked into the admiral's office as soon as the door chimed in. He was told that Admiral Remae was at the office on the Starbase rather than the one groundside. As he entered Billy straightened his uniform and smiled, "Ensign Junior Grade William Alexander Junior reporting for duty sir." Billy smiled his disarming smile, a simple one that said, I can do this, you can trust me, I'm not a threat. "Although it looks like you just gave my job away to my cousin." (reply Remae) (reply Remae) (posted by Will Banowsky) (Mars Facility – Admiral’s Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0815) Remae was in his office preparing for his briefing and in one corner of the room was Ensign Trip Williams, working through his pile of PADDs that have been assigned to him to sort, record and catalogue. There was a little commotion in the out office where Trip was speaking to what it appeared to be yet another family member of the clan, Williams. After a few moments, Ensign Alexander reported in as the new Mission OPS Officer. "Although it looks like you just gave my job away to my cousin.", said the new arrival with a smile and personality to match. “You can give him a hand in a moment, Ensign but your arrival is fortunate and good timing, we have a briefing in the new and non-functional Operations Centre at 1000, so I want you there too.”, he said before adding, “Afterwards, we can take a look around and see what we’re dealing with there but in the meantime, welcome aboard.”, he said extending his hand to the Mission OPS. (Reply from Alexander, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Mars Facility – Admiral’s Office -Mission OPS Ensign JG Billy Alexandrer - 0817) “You can give him a hand in a moment, Ensign but your arrival is fortunate and good timing, we have a briefing in the new and non-functional Operations Centre at 1000, so I want you there too.”, he said before adding, “Afterwards, we can take a look around and see what we’re dealing with there but in the meantime, welcome aboard.”, he said extending his hand to the Mission OPS. "Thank you sir, and thank you for this opportunity, I wont let you down." Billy nodded and then left the office. As he exited he waved at his cousin. He was certain that he would be able to sort that pile faster than Trip ever could, and probably shave his time in half. Trip was going to be a good officer, but he definitely needed to work on his organizational skills. Billy was absolutely certain that Trip would have trouble remembering Sienna's birthday if it wasn't for the fact they were born on the same day. But before he got to work, he needed to make a courtesy call. Tapping his commbadge he spoke softly hoping his other cousin was awake. "Ensign Alexander to Ensign Sienna Williams," (reply Sienna) "Sy I hope I didn't wake you, it's your cousin Billy, I got assigned to Mars base, and I wanted to check in. I just ran into Trip and I figured I probably should let you know I'm here. I don't want you to think I'm telling him things and not you." (reply Sienna) "Anyways, saw your dad before I left this morning, I spent sometime visiting Gramps last night and he was over. He gave me something to give to you. So maybe we could meet up this afternoon and I can bring it on by." (reply Sienna) "Alright, later cuz. Billy out." Billy then smiled and turned up to Trip, "Alright loser," he said with a chuckle, "Let's help you get through these PADDs, lord knows that you'd be here all day without an extra set of hands." Then giving his cousin a nooggie, he sat down as the two got to work. (reply Sienna) (posted By Will Banowsky) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0900) Remae walked into the giant room. Dusty as it was, the nerve centre of Mars was surrounded on all sides by giant screens, and across the room were duty stations that could control all aspects of the stations of Mars. Upon the mezzanine, was a clear glass room where the conference room was located. The raised area gave a commanding look over the room and next to the room was another office, it looked like it was put aside for the COs use. It could eventually become his new office, it would be better than the shoe-box he was in at the moment. The usual modern systems were evident, a transporter pad, replicators, a real home from home. It was far from ready but as Remae climbed the steps to the conference room, he picked up chairs, removed covers from computer screens and generally, attempted to tidy things up a little. If there was any power to the room, it wasn't clear if anything was working but that wasn't important. The conference room seemed to be in the best shape. A large table with chairs all around and even more screens on all walls awaited him as he opened the doors. (Mars Facility – Operations Center Conference Room – Medical Officer – Ensign JG Dural Methor DrPH – 0948) Dural came to the meeting early. On Cardassia promptness was expected, not early and certainly never tardy, but in his years of study on Earth he learned that Human officers tended to show up early. He believed it was harkening back to a time when the passage of it was not measured as precisely as it was now, and so people showed up early to ensure that no one was late by the boss’s clock. So he made it a point to be early, and as he could see, there were already people here. Pleased with his approximation of Human behavior, he found himself a place along the wall on the far side leaving the center seats for the department heads. He readied his Cardassian PADD that he had kept over the years. It took Isolinear rods like all Cardassian technology, but he had an engineer retrofit it to accept an isolinear chip as well so that his PADD was compatible with Star Fleet technology. He resisted the urge to strike up conversations, but decided he would certainly speak with anyone who wanted to, until the Admiral brought the room to order, that is. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - Conference Room - aACSO- Ensign Sekal– 0952) Sekal arrived a bit early and nodded to those already seated. The morning had been an eventful one as almost all had been. On top of the attempts to repair equipment and get the labs in shape there had been an attack by what were essentially pirates, the interrogation, the squadron sent to their base, multiple excursions to the Mystque and an armed incursion on that ship. The interference in StarFleet affairs here was ongoing and Security was attempting to sort out the issues. With all that had happened very little had been accomplished outside of readying the facilities but they were less than a week into operations here and from the state of the facility when they arrived perhaps his plans had been too ambitious and too much pressure placed on an already exhausted staff. Plans going forward would have to be more modest and he would ask for the input from the other science officers on a more pragmatic timeline. For now there was a general meeting from the Admiral to deal with before work resumed. Not long after he took a seat Admiral Ktell entered followed by others. Sekal nodded at each in turn and waited for the meeting to start. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles Gatling) (Mars Facility – Operations Center Conference Room – aACEO – Ensign JG Keira Merek – 0953) Keira walked into the meeting still perusing over the data from her scans of the crash. She could tell that the second explosion was definitely the release of the containment of the antimatter and matter storage units. The first one, there were still a few possibilities. Too bad the flight recorder or the main computer didn’t survive the explosion. There were a few pieces of what could be isolinear chip that had melted and a small piece of the console remained, warped from the heat but it was still there. She’d have to talk with Trip or someone else that was on the vessel to be sure. She had thought of downloading the sensor logs from the ships coming home, it would take some time to down load them all. Maybe she’d start the download during the meeting, then when it was over, she would speak with the Admiral about it. ~Get as much information as you can.~ She had her attention in her PADD and sat down, with just enough awareness of what’s around her not to hit anyone. She sat down at a random spot near the middle far side of the table. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - Conference Room– aACMO Ens(jg) Ailynn Bracken – 0954) Ailynn strode into the Conference room, and ordered a coffee and a pastry from a replicator, before taking a seat near the front next to Trip, saving one between them for when Sienna arrived. She leant across, her elbow leaning on the back of the chair between them. “Trip, I have to talk to you after this meeting – you are not going to guess who I thought I saw last night on the observation mezzanine while I was in surgery.” (reply Trip IYW) (Posted by Mark) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - Conference Room– aFSXO Ensign JG Trip Williams - 0955) It was easy to be on time when you were already where you needed to be. Of course for Trip that wasn't going to be a problem. If you're not early you're late. He had blocked out a few seats in the middle and near the front. He was seated next to his cousin Billy and the two were droning on about which of them had more mastery over their great grandmother's cookie recipe. They made sure to leave seats open for Sy and Ailynn. Trip's dad had apparently sent Billy with stuff for Sy and him. He didn't know what their dad had sent for Sy, but for Trip it was a batch of home brewed beer and some cookies. Homemade from scratch. Had Billy not had his own bag, he probably would have stolen some. Trip wasn't sure what their dad had sent for Sy, it wasn't for him to know. He got the sense that the beer was more of a, hey I'm giving your sister something, she needs it more than you, but I know you get jealous, so here you go. As Ailynn approached the two cousins and sat down, Trip smiled. ~Only 6 more minutes until you'd have been late Lynn. No where is that sister of mine.~ Lynn leaned in and spoke to him. "Trip, I have to talk to you after this meeting – you are not going to guess who I thought I saw last night on the observation mezzanine while I was in surgery.” "Did you see someone who looked like Ailynn too? Because both myself and Billy saw someone who looked like her only, prettier." At this moment Billy leaned over and waved at her. "Anyways we can talk later. I'd love to get the scoop. Also my dad sent some cookies, and he sent a bag just for you. It's my great grandmothers recipe." Trip's father was known for making cookies for any occasion that he had been nicknamed the Cookie Monster during his time as Chief Engineer of the USS Kyoto early in his career. Before Ailynn could respond, Sy slipped into the row and sat between them. She pulled out her PADD to take notes. Trip put his arm around her and gave her a quick kiss on the top of he heard. He was happy to see her. Maybe it was the three pumkin spice latte's he had consumed. But he was in a good mood. A better mood than yesterday. Ravok was better, Alex was on her way back to Earth and her prognosis was improving by the moment. He had his cousin on his left, his sister on his right, and his best friend nearby. Maybe just maybe, today would be better than yesterday. (reply none) (posted by Will) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - Conference Room - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0955) The Admiral took had his chair at the front of the room and used the PADD to prepare for his meeting... many had started arriving, taking their seats, catching up with each other, grabbing snacks, drinks and over the course of a few moments, slowly, everyone came to order as the Admiral began to speak. (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Mars Facility – Operations Center, Conference Room–Ensign jg Ravok – 0956) Ravok walked to the meeting. A PADD in his left hand while his right arm gently was pressed against his side. He seen everyone pouring into the meeting. They were grabbing various drinks and snacks. He had just eaten 5 bowls of Ceasar salad so he was good to go. As he entered the room he noticed a few empty chairs. Ravok sat down in one at the table. He looked around and noticed a few unfamiliar faces. Fellow officers who he had yet had the chance to meet . He laid his PADD on the table in front of him. He looked at the admiral. He also noticed a man enter the room raising a glass at the admiral and greeting him. There were 2 empty chairs to Ravoks left hand side and 1 empty chair to his right hand side. He noticed alot of the people in this room looked wore out and exhausted. The last couple days had been hard on everyone . Ravok reached into his pocket and pulled out the orange air hockey puck from the air hockey table, the one that Alex and him had played with. He gripped the thin orange puck in his hand tightly and watched the admiral look at everyone ,waiting patiently. (Reply any) (Posted by Davis) (Mars Facility – Operations Center, Conference Room– Sec/Ops – CPO Tamblyn – 0957) Charles was feeling exhausted after the full night he had. First drinking and gathering information for the investigation that Ensign Peters has him on. After that was all the excitement of some infiltrators on Jupiter Base. The night was topped off with breakfast in the brig with his wife, Anouk. With a tall glass of southern sweet tea in his hand, Charles entered the conference room and saw the admiral sitting at one end of the table. Tamblyn raised his glass toward the Admiral and said, “How are you doing this morning, sir?” (Reply Ktell) (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Charles R.) (Mars Facility – Operations Centre - Conference Room - SO- Ensign Sienna Williams-Verin– 0958) Sy had slipped into the operations center, later than she would have liked to be honest. She had not known where it was and the map she had been given had been less than helpful. All the maps she had found had been less than helpful, truth be told. Looking around the room quickly, Sy slid into a seat between her brother and Lynn with a smile, pleased that they had saved her a seat. She had her personal padd out, ready to take notes, and smiled up at the Admiral. She was ready for this meeting. It was, after all, the very first one of her career. (reply any iyw) (posted by Mel) (Mars Facility – Operations Center, Conference Room– Sec/Tac, Ens(jg) Carson Peters – 0959) Carson was still a little sore from the previous evenings adventure on the Mystique, his plan was to lay in a little longer than normal due to the amount of work he'd gotten through in the past 5 days. The computer had different ideas, waking him when a message from the Admiral came through asking for all officers to report in at 10am for an Operational meeting. Once he'd read that he got himself ready and then headed into the Security Ops centre and got updates on everything they had running at the present moment. He organised for some extra Security officers to be outside the meeting and then got some breakfast before heading to the meeting. He walked into the conference room with barely a minute to spare before the start of the meeting, quickly grabbed a cup of coffee and then sat down. He looked around, the room was fairly full, most people were drinking or snacking as well as chatting. The Admiral sat at the head of the large table and seemed to be waiting until he noticed that everybody had arrived. He wondered how long the meeting would last, whether it had anything to do with the Trill ship which had docked a few days prior. He set the padd he had brought with him on the table in front of himself and waited patiently. (Reply all present) (Posted by Jono Bradley)
