"I'm Jadon Arkstone, nice to meet you Counsellor. Thank-you for coming... presenting, yourself." He cleared his throat again "Do you have your assignment? And any items that you're bringing with you onto the base that should be declared?" He pointed at a sign on the wall that was ding, dirty and rather old. Alaya blinked as the guy seemed a bit ... off balance with her. She was used to that. It was often the hair, followed by the betazoid eyes and then the trifecta of being a counselor usually had people scurrying. Passively she could not help but pick up the slight embarrassment as well as, well. the interest.. he had in her as a female. "Arkstone, and Ravenstone huh?" She smiled, hoping to put him more at ease. "My adoptive parents are terran, hence the non-betazoid name." She slid the credential disk with her assignment over the desk towards him. At the offered padd, she laid her palm on the sensor for the reading. "I've been traveling through the earth star system the hard way today it seems. No direct path between there and here. Lots of short hops on the transporter, then shuttle rides, some of those pretty uncomfortable. " At the reading of plants, she sighed. "In my luggage coming from earth are a number of plants, but they are not here yet. I have some weapons, my personal issued phaser as well as two handmade betazoid decorative weapons from history that are quite lethal but designed to hang on the wall.Otherwise, I don't think so. Some clothing, jewelry, makeup... no food. Some real alcohol. I would rather not lose it." She winked at him with a flirtatious grin. "You are welcome to look through the bags? Like I said most of my luggage is on it's way from earth likely by slow boat tug." She was quite tired, and yawned. Loudly, unable to stop herself. She knew it wasn't cute, or adorable. "Sorry, sorry. Like over a day awake. Do you know where my quarters are by chance? And if the beds are comfortable?" (reply Arkstone) (posted by Mel) (Mars Facility – Security Customs' Area - Security Officer, Jadon Arkstone – 01.14) Jadon found himself nodding helplessly along as Alaya responded, she smiled at him and he found himself obsessing over whether the smile was to comfort and calm him or to allure him. "Arkstone, and Ravenstone huh? My adoptive parents are terran, hence the non-betazoid name." She slid the credential disk with her assignment over the desk towards him. He picked it up and inspected the orders, everything matched up with what he had expected. He placed it back down and then picked up a padd and moved it towards her. Before he could ask she placed her hand, palm down onto the device. Within a second the computer in front of him, Alaya's slightly younger face popped onto it- identifying the woman in front of him correctly. "I've been traveling through the earth star system the hard way today it seems. No direct path between there and here. Lots of short hops on the transporter, then shuttle rides, some of those pretty uncomfortable." She said whilst he perused over the inventory list that was coming at some point in the next few days for her. The system beeped to warn him that he should be checking with her around the plants that were included, as he raised his head to ask, she seemed to sense at what he was going to say. As she was talking, Jadon found himself wondering how they were so in sync already. Almost like they were built to be together. I would rather not lose it." She winked at him and his heart skipped several beats and he had to catch his breath. "You are welcome to look through the bags? Like I said most of my luggage is on it's way from earth likely by slow boat tug." As she finished, she yawned which reminded Jadon of the time and he found himself yawning as well.. "Sorry, sorry. Like over a day awake. Do you know where my quarters are by chance? And if the beds are comfortable?" Jameis had been gone 5 or so minutes by now, he'd be returning soon and he wasn't sure why, but he wanted to make sure Alaya was out of the way before he returned. Feeling protective of the lady he'd only just met he replied as he made the necessary adjustments to the padd in front of him. "Don't you worry, I'll personally keep an eye out for your luggage. I'm sure it'll all make it here in time. As for what you've gotten on your person, you're not setting any of the sensors off so I'll trust there's nothing in them that could cause a biohazard type of mess." He said with a smile and then as he heard what he'd said, a slight frown. He cleared his throat a little, "It's late, I'm sorry I've kept you so long... though if you'd turned up a few days ago, the queues were longer than you could imagine." Jadon picked up the padd and handed it to her, "You're quarters are listed on here, I've programmed it to direct you there. I'm sure your bed is, ah, very comfortable." he said growing slightly more embarrased. (Reply Ravenstone) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (Mars Base, Sickbay,  Sec/Tac Ensign Taya, 0835) Taya tapped her comm badge. "Ensign Flagg, would you meet me in sickbay please?" Closing the channel, she stepped in, stopping at the reception desk. "Good morning..." Taya looked at the name plate on the desk. "CPO Kathy Miller. I'm Ensign Taya from security. May I speak with the acting chief please?" The Human woman seated at the desk seemed to study Taya for a moment. "What is this regarding?" "I'd like to discuss the security measures concerning the.... 'cargo' our new mudical officer bestowed upon us," said Taya. "I see," said Miller. She tapped a call button on her desk. "Dr. Bracken, security is here to see you." She looked at Taya. "Please have a seat. If she's busy with a patient, it will be a bit." "Thank you." Taya sat down. She wanted to meet Dr. Bracken ever since she learned Bracken was on Mars, but as busy as things were, it hadn't happened yet. Taya was both nervous and excited, as their mothers served together for a short time on the Hades. She also hoped to see Ariel Trei, as her father was on the Hades as well. Once things began to settle, perhaps the three of them could visit the Hades in space dock. Taya's mother told her stories about that time, so seeing the ship would be something she'd remember the rest of her life. It had been only a few minutes, a potentially long time for an impatient Andorian, but Taya wondered where Bracken and Flagg were.... (reply Bracken, Flagg, any) (posted by Rob B.) (Mars Facility – Admiral’s Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0900) The Admiral escaped his office early before the influx of arrivals and many PADDs and headed out the door. Today, was his day to explore what was going on around the base. The Bajoran had a plan to drop in, perhaps talk to some people and see if he could get a feeling to what’s happening. (Mars Facility – Outside Admiral’s Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0910) He’d been hearing reports of a new bar getting the attention of many officers, this “Red Sands Tavern”, deserved more attention than he could give now but it was on his list for dinner. First stop, he had decided and walked off purposefully. (Mars Facility – Counselling Centre - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0932) The facilities were coming together, the mess that he’d noticed a few days ago was gone and armies of crewman intermingled with officers were all over the place. The sight of the Admiral made them scurry out of the way but he was used to it. “Ensign Trei, how are you today?”, he asked and he waited for the Ensign to reply, the sight of the half Klingon and Half Betazoid was unusual but he spoke for a few moments. (Reply from Trei and room for more) The Admiral noted someone else who he didn’t know and after a few moments, he headed in her direction. “Admiral Remae Ktell, Ensign, and you are?”, he asked and outstretched his hand. Her striking blue/green hair flashed in the light streaming in from outside, he nodded during her conversation and listen intently without interruption. (Reply from Ravenstone and room for more) (Mars Facility – Main Engineering - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 0951) Remae was scurrying around Engineering it’s sublevels, engineering was working hard on repairing systems and he saw many people whom he knew; he had already gained a big black mark on his uniform but it wasn’t a clean place, it was the place that drove everything else. “Ensign Foster?”, waved the Admiral towards the direction of the newer arrival. The Engineering headed over, “What are you working on?”, he asked and listened for a moment, taking in the scope of the duties of the officer. (Reply from Foster and room for more and others to join in) (Mars Facility – Main Engineering - E/SYO Ensign Boone Foster - 0952) Ensign Foster was lying on his back. One leg and foot on the ground supporting most of his weight. The other leg in the air to balance his body. Ensign Foster's head, shoulder, and left arm inside of a panel. His arm and hand were stretched out as far as possible to reach the desired board with the tool in hand. Using his thumb he turned the tool on and watched the correct sequence of lights. Pleased with his work, he smiled and shuffled himself out of the panel, but not before bumping his forehead. Rubbing his forehead he looked around to see if anyone saw, and extremely surprisingly he saw Admiral Ktell waving at him and calling his name. Boone walked over to the Admiral. “What are you working on?”the Admiral asked simply. Boone wondered if the Admiral was checking on him specifically, or just doing a general walk through. "Well sir, if you name it, we've probably been workin' on it. Power boards, power relays, secondary power systems, replacing parts that burned out years ago. But, currently, I'm workin' on getting more panels operational so more of our engineers can use them. The way I see it the more people able to work, the more work can get done." (reply Ktell) "Do you need Engineering to give special attention to anything sir. Like in your office or quarters? I could do it myself if needed." Boone asked quizzically. (reply Ktell) (posted by Calvin Capps) (Starfleet Martian Ground Facilities – Science Annex– Sekal's Office- SO - Ensign Sienna Williams-Verin – 1033) Sy had scooted in a minute before the appointed start of the meeting and had taken one of the two eats across from Sekal. She had of course heard the scuttle butt that the Admiral had appointed the oh so annoyingly perfect Vulcan to be the head of the Science division. She had a bad feeling that it would happen after her medical condition had caused her to pass out at the Vulcan's feet. She had been trying to analyze her feelings about this, but then the Vulcan decided to be a superior jackass and spoke condescendingly down to her. "Excuse me ENSIGN Sekal, I am an ENSIGN as well. You will refer to me with the respect due to my station." She almost hissed at him. Her dark eyes were burning with anger. She had at least managed to wait until he was done talking before the words escaped her lips. ~Good job Sy. At least you heeded your brother's advice and didn't kick him in the nads. But the desk is between you and him and it would have hurt to kick the desk.~ Sy took the still extended padd and began to peruse it to hide the colour rising to her face. She knew that this had been coming and it angered her to no end. They were all supposed to be equals, in this crappy assignment together, rebuilding the Federation. It was supposed to be about cooperation and no one being better than the other. It was supposed to be different this time. It was of course the Admiral's prerogative to change his mind but it was not fair that she got a less than three day trial before the Admiral decided the Vulcan was better than she was. ~I guess it's true what they say. Admirals are politicians first and all politicians lie~. "Go it." She paused long enough to be rude. "SIR." Emphasizing the title. She wanted out of this meeting and to have absolutely nothing to do with the Vulcan. She had been nice, tried to get to know him... Sy was so angry she didn't even consider that the Vulcan likely had no clue how to act around other races, or that he didn't understand how his demeanor was considered. Science didn't tend to attract people person types after all. She listened as the 'superior' Vulcan continued to speak, insulting the older Trill here as well by referring to him as 'Mister' which was how you referred to a subordinate, not an equal. She kept her head down, letting her slightly longer than waist hair hide her expression as she grimaced. She hadn't had enough sleep since arriving on Mars, and Trip's battle with her this morning and now this. She was surprised steam was not coming out of her ears. But then the Vulcan started talking about going back to the Mystique and Sy's head shot up. Fast. "Due to the dilapidated nature of the facilities and equipment I will be expecting daily reports until the labs have been completely repaired and restocked. To that end I intend to return to the Mystique where specifications for the items we require should be available." Sy's mouth ran off before her brain had a chance to catch up. "You really think that Luma'Lenai will let you take anything off her ship? I know that you may have not had a lot of exposure to other races, but that ship does not trust us right now. I was going to go back up later today and see if I could get her to give me a list of acceptable criteria for a bond-mate. I thought that by finding someone whose full time job was dealing with her, it would show one that we trust her and two that she can trust us in turn." She leaned back too, relaxing for the first time since she had come into the office. "We need to know how she bonded with the Mystique, and maybe if she can be moved? If the Admiral was correct that the Mystique might be needed because no other vessel is in such good, if outdated condition, we might need an emergency way to move her. I wanted to bring that up to both of you as my -colleagues-" Sy emphasized the word, because like hell would she acknowledge that the Vulcan was her superior. He had zero interest in botany or life sciences only his precious obsession with the crystal. "I thought that if she could be moved, she could join us on the base and have thousands of people about to help with her loneliness. I also got a sense of something else while there, she kinda knew that the trill ship was coming, somehow. I thought we could discuss that with her and if she could explain it, it could boost our sensor range." For now her anger with the Vulcan was forgotten while she thought out loud. "I wanted to talk to the Admiral about taking a counselor up for the entity to talk with." This base had a huge issue with loose lips and rumors. "Ensign Sekal," And Sy emphasized his rank unconsciously to prove to herself he wasn't better than she was, "The rumor going around is that the base was locked down due to the raiders having our intel. Since you were the chosen representative for that interrogation, was it true? If it is, having an intelligence that no one knows about who can listen in intelligently would be very useful in uncovering whomever is behind that. " She had been busy with her hands in dirt, and did not mind that the Admiral had picked him. (more here?) "On to other business, you have brought the items requested I see, could you please summarize the most outstanding repair needs you currently face." Sekal continued. Sy jumped in, before Alyl had a chance to even consider the question, "Well. The main environmental system has been repaired. But there are huge issues in the Arboretum, the park, and with animals all over the base. They were released when portions of the base were abandoned and have bred, lived and multiplied in the intervening time. Some of the species that have been reported are nuisances, others are out right dangerous. They should all be trapped and disposed of. Particularly that super poisonous arachnid that some people are finding. I had not given much thought to that, as I am more concerned with the state of the arboretum. Petty Officer Castile did a lot of work getting the solar panels cleared and replaced in the park and arboretum but the solar lights are for the most part broken and the tech was old two generations ago. I would really like to update it to the thermal light sources used on the ships and starbases. As for the irrigation system, the arboretums is a disaster and the park is mostly functional since it was planned properly and used self-cleaning filters. I got the impression the arboretum here was more of a research laboratory and the park was the place the crew went when they wanted nature before the terraforming took hold. The diversity in the park is about right, the arboretum...needs to honestly be stripped, the soil completely radiated of contaminants and then have the nutrient feeds upgraded and replanted according to our research. I found a hand written log entry in the arboretum's small office that said that a portion of the arboretum was used to provide fresh produce for the officers living here." She mentally ticked off points in her head, her dark eyes rolled up to the ceiling as she thought. "There are literally weeks of work getting those two areas sorted and the animal population corralled back to where it belongs." Sy took a deep breath then lowered her eyes. "I have not even had a chance to consider the Admiral's desire for me to learn about the terra-forming techniques used on Mars and see how the ecological aspects were progressing. And I have not seen the Republic's arboretum or life science area and just barely had a chance to glance at the Mystiques. I was actually rather impressed with the way that the Mystique's arboretum has held up from what little I had a chance to see." Sy had said more words coherently here than she had really said to anyone professionally in the last few days. If she were totally honest with herself, and she was sometimes brutally so, she really preferred plants to people. But she was also more people oriented than these two seemed to be. "And do you know if more science officers will be joining us? And do you know how shifts aboard the starship will run? If possible, I would request that whatever shift my twin serves on that I do as well. Neither of us sleeps well unless the other is sleeping." ~Something we really should talk with Linnie about.~ She hadn't touched on the fact that the parts needed to do the repair work were going to be difficult at best to find and impossible at worst. (reply Sekal, Alyl) (posted by Mel) (Starfleet Martian Ground Facilities – Science Annex– Sekal's Office- SO - Ensign Jaton Alyl – 1037) Jaton followed the female science officer into Sekal's office, assuming that she was the Ensign Verin he had heard about but hadn't yet met. Jaton followed her lead and sat in the last unoccupied seat in the office. "It may perhaps have already come to your attention," Sekal began, "that the Admiral has appointed acting department heads and I have been tasked with overseeing this department. Owing to this my duties have been increased therefore it is necessary to increase yours as well." Jaton raised his eyebrows slightly. Technically he had more experience than Sekal and had been a CSO in his own right, but then again maybe the admiral saw his current situation as too much of an unknown element. He shrugged internally. Nothing to do but to make peace with the new sheriff in town, as the humans would say. Sekal leaned forward and picked up a PADD. "Ms Verin due to your experience in Life Science and related disciplines I am appointing you liason with the Medical Department." He handed the PADD to her. " Any necessary researches required by that department will be your responsibility primarily and any researches carried out by this department with associated health or safety risks will be relayed by you to Medical along with pertinent recommendations. Your full duty list is contained on the PADD." He leaned forward with his elbows firmly planted on the desk. "If you are unsure of associated risks I will be available for consultation. Together we should be able to make a comprehensive guide." "Excuse me ENSIGN Sekal," Verin spat vitriolically back at Sekal, "I am an ENSIGN as well. You will refer to me with the respect due to my station." She almost hissed at him. Jaton felt his jaw hit the floor as he stared wide-eyed at the Betazoid. "Got it." She paused long enough to be rude. "SIR." Emphasizing the title. "Mr Alyl owing to your experience you will be the lead on the trimethyl selenide research otherwise known as the Anelurian crystal. The verification of data is solidly within your purview. Once that is accomplished I will be working with you closely on applying the technology for Starfleet use. The PADD contains all information currently available on the mineral." It took a moment for Jaton to register that Sekal was talking to him. Shaking his head slightly, he turned back towards the Vulcan and accepted the PADD being offered to him. He leaned forward with fingers interlaced. "This research is crucial to our departments plans for enhancing Federation technology as we have already discussed and its importance cannot be downplayed." "Uh, yes, sir," Jaton managed to sputter, still flabbergasted at what he had just watched transpire. "Due to the dilapidated nature of the facilities and equipment I will be expecting daily reports until the labs have been completely repaired and restocked. To that end I intend to return to the Mystique where specifications for the items we require should be available." Verin took this as her cue to let her mouth jump straight into warp. Jaton took in a breath to speak, but she wasn't done. He sighed and slumped back in his chair. "We need to know how she bonded with the Mystique, and maybe if she can be moved? If the Admiral was correct that the Mystique might be needed because no other vessel is in such good, if outdated condition, we might need an emergency way to move her. I wanted to bring that up to both of you as my -colleagues-" Jaton sensed she emphasised the word to get him on side. He turned his head away from her. He wasn't getting involved in this. "I thought that if she could be moved, she could join us on the base and have thousands of people about to help with her loneliness. I also got a sense of something else while there, she kinda knew that the Trill ship was coming, somehow. I thought we could discuss that with her and if she could explain it, it could boost our sensor range. I wanted to talk to the Admiral about taking a counselor up for the entity to talk with." "Ensign Sekal," Verin emphasized his rank again. Jaton slumped further down in his chair and raised the PADD up to block his peripheral view from having to look at her at all. "The rumor going around is that the base was locked down due to the raiders having our intel. Since you were the chosen representative for that interrogation, was it true? If it is, having an intelligence that no one knows about who can listen in intelligently would be very useful in uncovering whomever is behind that." There was a certain accusatory tone in that last barb. Or at least Jaton thought there might be. In any case, Verin seemed to have run out of steam, so he felt that it was time for him to get his word in before she started up again. He straightened up and looked at Sekal, a sympathetic look in his eyes. "Sir," he said, purposefully emphasising the fact that Sekal was now his technical superior, "if I may, my opinion on the issue with the Mystique is that for now we need to concentrate our efforts on building a rapport with Luma'Lenai. Get her on side and realise that we mean her no harm and that we have her best interests in mind. Much like we should be doing with each other." He turned towards Verin with this last statement, his eyebrows raised, daring her to answer that. (reply Sekal, Verin) "On to other business, you have brought the items requested I see, could you please summarize the most outstanding repair needs you currently face." Sekal continued. "Well--" but Verin was off. "Well. The main environmental system has been repaired. But there are huge issues in the Arboretum, the park, and with animals all over the base. They were released when portions of the base were abandoned and have bred, lived and multiplied in the intervening time. I was actually rather impressed with the way that the Mystique's arboretum has held up from what little I had a chance to see." "Building off that--" but Jaton was cut off again. "And do you know if more science officers will be joining us? And do you know how shifts aboard the starship will run? If possible, I would request that whatever shift my twin serves on that I do as well. Neither of us sleeps well unless the other is sleeping." Jaton looked at Verin for a minute. "Are you quite finished?" (reply Verin, room for more) "Building off what my colleague has said, I've been doing some digging into what might be causing the intermittent power failures in the laboratory complex and I believe that there is a family of squirrels that has taken up residence in the central core just off the arboretum. As a result, the connections between the bio-neural gel-packs have been suffering, and a lot of the time we would otherwise spend on our main work is spent assisting medical in synthesising and repairing gel-packs. That seems to be to be the first priority in my book. What do humans use to get rid of squirrels?" (reply Verin, Sekal) (posted by Spencer) (Starfleet Martian Ground Facilities – Science Annex– aACSO's Office- aACSO - Ensign Sekal – 1041) Sekal leaned back in his chair as Verin and Alyl discussed the Akira class ship in orbit. Both were in agreement with his own conclusions however there was one matter to clear up which he did in an even and emotionless tone. "Ensign Verin you appear to have misunderstood my intent. Attempting to remove anything from the ship would be foolhardy, not only would it damage the trust we are attempting to build with the entity known as Luma'Lenai but by her own admission she has the means to prevent it." He shook his head. "My intention was to do the opposite of what you concluded and ask the entity herself for the data that would give us a baseline from which to work to rebuild our facilities. The entity is unarguably lonely and appears cooperative now that we have demonstrated our desire to build that trust. I find it quite conceivable that she will be willing to part with information that will also be used to repair her 'skin' as she calls it, the Mystique itself." He crossed his legs as he looked from one to the other starting with Sienna. "Some of her peripheral systems on the bridge will need replacement and while the damage is not irreparable as we had been led to believe and is mostly cosmetic the repairs will still require components that we do not have access to due to the purge. Giving us the specifications that we need is then in her own best interests. We need remove nothing from the ship, only the data needed to fabricate what is required." That matter now dealt with he continued. "Your concerns are duly noted and I trust I have answered them to your satisfaction." Her manner had been confrontational from the start which did not disquiet him in the least, truth be told he found it of interest. Whether they would be able to work together under the framework Ktell had put in place would be up to her, he would do his duties as laid out. Whether she agreed with the Admiral's choice or liked him personally was not a consideration nor did they concern him, his only concern was with her cooperation and her performance in carrying out the duties assigned to her. If these were lacking then the situation would be dealt with. "As for the concept of moving the entity I agree with your assessment but the final choice of course will be up to Luma herself. Having her here on the surface would benefit both us and her and I believe Luma could be persuaded to do so. The question is will she be willing to make a permanent move to the surface and of that I am unsure. Luma has existed and moved among the 'star song' as she calls it in deep space for a time period we are unaware of and longs to return to it. Will she agree to be bound to a planet? This is a question that needs to be answered and we will, as we will study how to separate her from the Mystique in the event it becomes necessary. In the end however when there is a choice whether to remain planet bound or bond with a ship to return to space I anticipate she will choose the latter." "The rumor going around is that the base was locked down due to the raiders having our intel. Since you were the chosen representative for that interrogation, was it true? If it is, having an intelligence that no one knows about who can listen in intelligently would be very useful in uncovering whomever is behind that. " He nodded. "The prisoner had a PADD in its possession containing details concerning trade routes and cargo manifests, while communications may be intercepted the Breen's confession suggests that the information was sold by an insider out to enrich themselves. If Luma could be discreet she would indeed be of help in gathering such intelligence. " On the subject of repairs she quickly had an answer and the subject was exhaustive. It took several minutes before she 'wound down'. "So the summary of desired repairs to be forwarded to engineering is to replace the antiquated solar lights with thermal ones and upgrade the irrigation system. I will forward this to the acting assistant chief of engineering." His brow furrowed. "I will inquire of security on the subject of wildlife and see what Input they might have, animal handlers they are not but they might be able to recommend such." And lastly. "The Arboretum should be dug up and replanted unless there is any plant life you wish to keep. Forward me a list of plant species you wish to include and I will requisition them when the irrigation system is repaired and once the ground has been cleared I will have the technical staff sterilize the soil as per your recommendation." Her final questions asked he responded. "I have been told nothing as of yet concerning additional science officers and as for shipboard operations." He indicated the terminal. "The request for that information has already been forwarded to me from the Admiral's office but I have not yet replied. Shifts will be alpha and gamma. Alpha from zero six hundred to eighteen hundred and gamma eighteen hundred to zero six hundred." His gaze once again swept over them both. "I am making the shifts voluntary. You may work out between yourselves which shift you will take but I require an answer from you by eighteen hundred tomorrow otherwise I will designate the assignments. My shift in such a situation will overlap both." It was now Jaton Alyl's turn, the Trill's body language had indicated extreme discomfort but had made his presence and voice known with inciteful comments. Sekal had also noticed him distancing himself from the other officer and showing disapproval with her conduct. "Building off what my colleague has said, I've been doing some digging into what might be causing the intermittent power failures in the laboratory complex and I believe that there is a family of squirrels that has taken up residence in the central core just off the arboretum. As a result, the connections between the bio-neural gel-packs have been suffering, and a lot of the time we would otherwise spend on our main work is spent assisting medical in synthesising and repairing gel-packs. That seems to be to be the first priority in my book. What do humans use to get rid of squirrels?" Sekal sank back in his chair at the question. "That is an apropos question Ensign Alyl. Having a family of rodents endangering the annex computer system cannot be allowed. While I am not conversant with the animal in question it is logical to assume that using a food source they desire would be the best method for trapping them. Whatever route you choose however I would prefer you to use non lethal means. When time permits I plan to introduce a habitat stocked with wildlife and the squirrels will be the first species added. It should be a simple matter to fabricate a holding pen for them once caught and I am certain the annex computer bank can provide you with their dietary needs." (Reply: Alyl, Verin, as much as you want) "But back to the Mystique and Luma'Lenai. Ensign Alyl has not had an opportunity to meet the entity and since he might be called upon to interact with her I suggest the three of us transport up together tomorrow at ten hundred hours. " NRPG: Ten o'clock AM obviously. Military time is a little unwieldy in this instance. RPG: "That gives us the opportunity to introduce him as well as make our requests known to her. I will arrange for a security escort to meet us at the runabout being used as interim transporter station." He thought about gate-crashing but spent a few moments hanging around. The senior officers were having their briefing so there was no one around to talk to. After a few moments, he left the area. (Mars Facility – Main Triage - Near the Staff Room - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 1052) Another meeting, another lack of officers to speak to. That was fine, Remae walked quietly past the room and had a quick listen as he headed through the medical facility. He walked briskly but never took his eyes off everything around him. (Mars Facility – Main Security Office - CO Admiral Remae Ktell – 1116) This was different, there were many officers around the office, and this was probably due to no meeting had been arranged for the security officers probably because he hadn’t assigned a Security Officer to run the department. (Reply from Any or All in Security and room for more) Carson was leaning over a desk looking at a report that that had just been handed to him by Officer Daedalus. The schedule for the day had been set for the portion of officers he was responsible for in their early morning meeting, but he was no actively changing it and redirecting some of the personnel due to one of the customs check points requiring an Engineer to fix the electronics within the area. "That should do," He said to Daedalus and handed him the padd. back. "Rotate team A and D for the next day and it should help cover any incoming personnel." Officer Daedalus nodded and began typing into the terminal in front of him, "It's a good thing that it's slowed down from the initial flurry" he said. Carson silently agreed with him as he stood up straight and then heard from behind him, “Everyone. Anything to report?”, Carson turned around to see Admiral Ktell leaning on the doorframe and looking in. Carson padded Daedalus on the back and then moved towards the Admiral and as he got closer he said, "Good morning, Sir." He wasn't unprepared for the visit, his officers had reported the Admiral walking from department to department since earlier in the morning. "Nothing new to report" Carson said. Assuming that the Admiral had been receiving his daily Base Security reports, he'd know most of all the important information. "Over the last few days, we've done our best to make the Operational Centre, ah, operational." Carson said as he point towards the now fixed thicker than normal doors to the Security Ops Centre. (Reply Ktell iyw) "I have staff preparing for the return of the Fighters, hopefully with some prisoners to talk to as well as preparing the base as best as we can, for any counter-incursion by these pirates. We're also running the investigation concurrently on who is selling the information to them. I'm afraid there is no further progress on that at the moment." (Reply Ktell, anyone in Security) "I'll certainly be happier once we've got all the sensors in the base running, but for now we're stretched a little thin keeping the base on lockdown without full sensor coverage. I'd hazard an assumption, having looked through some of reports that incoming personnel may be getting a tired of the full customs check on reentering- but I think it's the best way to keep the base secure." One aspect of it is that I need to devise substtutes for the Andorian components that have been removed." "Mr. Darpeg I believe I have a solution that might intrigue you. There is a ship in orbit which has components that should closely match the technology used on the base and the specifications will be in its database since it escaped the Andorian purge ." Darpeg lifted an eyebrow and said, "Fascinating. Perhaps we can cannibalize her for the parts that we need." Sekal shook his head. "Under no circumstances should an attempt be made to remove any component from that ship much less fire control. The entity residing aboard it would take immediate offense and the systems aboard it may be necessary in the future. My suggestion is that you transport to the ship and request the specifications for the needed components from the entity ." "If we can get the specifications, then we can replicate them." Sekal shrugged. "There will certainly be some variances between the components however the ship's technology will be a relatively close match. It should be simple to adjust them to what is needed here." "I do have several hologram programs that dwell on combining different technologies." "Unfortunately such a solution will not be of use for the Republic since the bulk of it is advanced by several generations in technology over what is available there. Merely having similar components will not get us to the solution we need." "However, it will put us on the right path, and we can jury rig the necessary adaptations for them to work. We may have an upcoming mission, and we most likely can’t do that with out a ship. Send some of the Petty Officers with their teams over to get an inventory of everything there. We need to have a count of all the ships and how functioning they are. Since the shore power is mostly restored anything you can hook up to shore power and turn the lights on we’ll count it as a ship. If you can’t we may have to mark it down for scrap or salvage for now. Key parts to look for are parts that can be used to get the other ships functioning.
