"Back. Burns. ARH." Mark nodded as he scrutinised the tricorder. As Vex started to move but spasmed in pain and lay back down again. “Just don’t move okay at least until I put some more pain killers in you.” (Reply Vex) “You have a nasty burns all across your back. This will help but just try not to move okay.” ~She really mush have been close to that console for the current to have done that much damage~ (Reply Vex) He pressed the hypospray against Vax’s neck and heard the hiss of medication being administered. He saw movement behind one of the secondary engineering panels and an arm protruding from under it. ~Ow no~ He looked over at the nurse who was rushing back in with a trolly and waved her over. “Massive burn to back may have gone down to the bone in some places. Take her to sickbay and start on the regeneration therapy.” The nurse nodded and he stood up, scoped up his medkit and hurried over to the engineering consol. He found an engineering officer crumpled in a heap behind the console. It looked like he had an open fracture of the right arm as well as a compound fracture of the right leg. There was no way he was going to treat the patient there. He looked over at one of the orderlies. “I have another one here. I and going to get a site to site an take him back to sickbay.” The orderly nodded and went back to work. “Dr Edwards to transport room one. I need a site to site transport from engineering to sickbay for me and my patient.” =^=Understood stand by=^= He looked down at the ensign beside him and hoped that they would be in time. (Reply Vex,Matrix any) (Posted by Robbie)(SPC Mark Edwards) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 6 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (USS Illuminar - Sickbay – Surgeon – Ensign (JG)- Mark Edwards – 0130) Mark looked down at the sleeping form of Ensign Matrix. The surgery had taken longer then he had hoped. Most of the little things had gone well until he had reached the broken arm and leg. The broken arms had been quite straight forward and after taking a couple of slivers of bone out the regeneration had been routine enough but it had been the leg that had caused him more problems. After getting Matrix on the operating table he was able to get a more detailed scan of the leg fracture which was far more complex then he had first thought. The fracture had splintered into tiny razor sharp peaces which all had to be found and accounted for before he could actually fix main fracture. Which in itself was trying to get larger bits of floating bone together so that he could remake the leg again. He gave a slight smile of satisfaction that everything had gone well and that Matrix would be sore but able to walk. He leaned closer “Scott its time to wake up now. Your operation is finished it all went well.” (Reply Matrix) (Reply Matrix, any) (Posted by Robbie)(SPC Mark Edwards) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 13 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (USS Illuminar – Lounge - Ops- CPO Charles Tamblyn -1937) It was rare that Tamblyn had an actual office to work out of, and while there wasn’t an Operations Office per-se onboard the Illuminar, Charles had no issues using the eating table in his quarters as his office space. It did cause him to use his coffee table as a dining space. He found something relaxing about sitting on the floor. Perhaps it was because if he decided to get drunk while eating his meal, he would not have far to fall. That was not the case this specific evening. There was a lot of behind the scenes work when it came to the Operations Department, and without an officer in charge (OIC), he had stepped up and taken the job head-on. Other than his daily shift on the bridge, Charles had managed to turn the rest of his duties into a work-from-quarters scenario. It wasn’t really ideal socially speaking, but then again he avoided some of the offhanded comments about his Kosher wine and how he sits in one of the few chairs with arms, with his leg draped over one of the arms, watching the stars go by like some out of place contemporary pirate. Charles always believed that drinking alone in public was not as bad as drinking alone in private. In public, he was less likely to get drunk. Tamblyn had just finished dealing with details with the Bajoran harbormaster and customs agents to allow the Illuminar entrance into their system. He hated politics and dealing with bureaucrats, but he had as much of a natural talent for doing that as he did tracking-down criminals. His habit of late though has been to take a bottle of wine to the lounge with him. Upon his arrival, he would get two glasses and something to eat. He would then walk over to a table by a window and set one glass upside-down in the middle of the table before sitting down himself. He had observed that some folks on the Illuminar watched him with curiosity and he wanted the second glass handy just in case someone decided to strike up a conversation to satiate their curiosity, then he could invite them to join him for a drink. He didn’t really like drinking alone, but he understands the advantages of drinking alone. As Charles finished his meal, he refilled his glass and turned to watch the stars again with his leg draped over the arm of the chair like he has become accustomed to doing. As he was taking a drink from his glass, he heard a voice and turned to see who had spoken to him. (Reply any iyw) Tamblyn stood up out of his chair and held the bottle out to his visitor, “May I offer you a drink?” (Reply any iyw) (Reply any iyw) (Posted by Charles R.) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Day: 15 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (USS Illuminar - Deck 1, Ready Room - ACSO Lieutenant (jg) Jaton Alyl - 1010) "Is there a need to raise security measures around our medical camps? If there is a risk of violence, both the medical teams and the scientific investigators must be protected." "I agree. It seems to be the best thing to do under the circumstances." "Affirmative," Sekal replied, "security will be provided for our teams. If it becomes impossible to protect them then they will be withdrawn. While there may be some element of risk involved I will not put the crew of this ship into an untenable situation and risk loss of life." Stennin nodded in agreementbut. "Bajor has a long history with Starfleet. And a most troubled one, at best. But we have to trust the people of Deep Space Nine to uphold their duties." "After we arrive at Andros I will assess the situation, it may be that Deep Space Nine will be able to provide assistance but Illuminar will be taking the lead on this at the request of the government. If you require particular help from the station in the form of specialists or equipment you may request it directly." "Understood, sir," Jaton said. "You can count on us." (Reply: Stennin) Sekal's eyes were on both. "It must be remembered that this assignment may become untenable for you or other members of the crew and while it carries considerable importance for Bajor I will not sacrifice a member of my crew. If in your estimation it becomes too dangerous to continue then anyone involved has the option to recommend the project be ceased and the crew withdrawn. Am I understood?" "Crystal clear, sir. I think I speak for both of us when I say I want to help these people as much as I can, but at the same time I completely understand. I'll make sure at least one member of our team is in constant communication with the ship just in case." (Reply: Stennin) Sekal nodded. "You have three days to make your preparations, plans for how to attack the situation and any specialized equipment should already be in place and available when we arrive. Due to the severe nature of the emergency I will waste no time in assessing the situation and taking necessary action. Are there any final questions or comments?" "I don't have any right now. I'll be sure to touch base with the medical and security staff though so we can coordinate. Stennin?" (Reply: Stennin, Sekal) (posted by Spencer) (USS Illuminar - Deck 1, Ready Room - ACSRD Ensign Stennin - 1012) Stennin listened attentively to both Sekal and Jaton. They both seemed to be well-adjusted to the situation. If you require particular help from the station in the form of specialists or equipment you may request it directly." "Understood, sir," Jaton said. "You can count on us." Stennin nodded fervently, and thought for a moment about the Trill's apparent enthusiasm. "It would be only logical, commander." Stennin remarked. Sekal continued his orders. Stennin looked at him as their eyes met. "It must be remembered that this assignment may become untenable for you or other members of the crew and while it carries considerable importance for Bajor I will not sacrifice a member of my crew. I'll make sure at least one member of our team is in constant communication with the ship just in case." Stennin frowned for a moment, but concurred with the Trill's idea. "If any iminent danger rises up, it is only logical that the mission be suspended until we can secure the safety of the crew. Sekal seemed to nod in agreement, or at least acknowledgement. "You have three days to make your preparations, plans for how to attack the situation and any specialized equipment should already be in place and available when we arrive. Due to the severe nature of the emergency I will waste no time in assessing the situation and taking necessary action. Are there any final questions or comments?" Stennin thought for a moment. But Jaton beat him to it. "I don't have any right now. I'll be sure to touch base with the medical and security staff though so we can coordinate. Stennin?" Stennin shook his head. "None. I will do as requested. The preliminary report will be present tomorrow." He said, as he slowly rose up. He nodded at Sekal, and then to Jaton, as he gestured towards the exit. Once they were settled at the table he began. "Our mission to Bajor has encountered... difficulties and our orders have been changed." He looked about the table. "The High Temple in the capitol city is under quarantine. The Kai, a number of religious leaders and even temple physicians have been struck by some form of malady and are ill. So far no contagion or damage from radiation has been found and the authorities are at a loss to understand what is happening. If possible the Kai and the others in the temple must be stabilized. She of them all is the most detrimentally affected and we do not have much time to work with, by the time we arrive at Bajor she is expected to last at the most a few days." (Reply: Any) "I have already instructed the science department that they are being tasked to find the cause so that some form of treatment might be found. It will be up to you to see that she and the others last long enough to effect a cure." He leaned forward with his elbows on the table, his facial expression stony. "There are other concerns at work as well, the approaching death of those in the temple has aroused the population and conditions at the temple are risky. Security will have to work with Bajoran forces on the ground to stabilize the situation before medical or science is inserted." He looked directly at the CMO. "Doctor Solice it will be up to you to choose who to take with you into the Temple. Some in your department will need to stay behind in case of injuries on the ground. I may require the services of Counselor Ravenstone however." (Reply: Quinna) "The Bajoran civilian government has requested Federation aide so has given us the authority to intervene however issues may arise with the Vedek Council." It would be preferable if we could set it up in the temple but we can make it work if we need to.” Quinna jotted more notes in her PADD. (Replies Sekal, Trei, Bennet, Dalton, Edwards, Ravenstone) Before Sekal adjourned the meeting Quinna turned to the team, “Tonight I want you all to compile a list of equipment we should take and Meet in my office tomorrow at 0800 hours.” Quinna placed her hands back in her lap. (Replies Sekal, Trei, Bennet, Dalton, Edwards, Ravenstone) (Played by Kris) (USS Illuminar - Meeting Room - ACOUNS ACMO ENS SG Ariel Trei - 11.10) She presumed after hearing Quinna's report the she will stay back to man Sickbay and stand by for cases on the surface. I was not a good practice to presume so she asked for confirmation to be sure. "Am I to stay back and stand by in Sickbay for cases on the surface sir?" She also figured it would be the case that she stay back since Alaya was going with Quinna on the surface leaving 1 counselor on the ship. This will be an experience building situation for her as well. She hoped it wasn't a trial by fire but she would deal with that if it came to that. She will probably be on the Bridge most of the time until any cases came through. She looked at Quinna for confirmation. Quinna turned to Ariel. Quinna had not made the duty plans and had not been thinking about it. It was something she was going to attend to after they were dismissed from the meeting along with research and making a list of things to pack. “I am not sure yet. I need time to make my decisions tonight as I am planning a game plan on when we get to Bajor.” Quinna answered. Right now, she had no answers. She entered the dark room. “Computer, lights at 70%” Quinna found the dimmer light was more pleasing to her. She walked to her replicator and ordered her coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. The team was to enter soon and she knew she needed to eat something.” As soon as everyone was there, Quinna wasted no time beginning when everyone was there. “I have to admit, I was up all night making decisions. As we know, Ensign Ravenstone will be working with the Captain with diplomatice red tape with the Bajorians. So for the rest of us, Counselor Trei, I could really use your help when talking to the patients, however, I need you here more. Since I will be working with the Bajorians, You will need to be the CMO here on the ship.” (Reply Trei) “Ensign Dalton, I want you to help me at the temple. ” Quinna continued. (Reply Dalton) “Ensign Bennett and Ensign Edwards, I want you both to stay here and man sickbay. I also want you to pack go bags in case I call you to join me.” Quinna added. She thought that she would be a gentle but firm doctor when the time came to act in that manner. Her Klingon side would not take any crap then her Betazoid side would handle the situation in a gentle manner. She supposed that was bedside manner. The only doctor she could emulate off of was Quinna and a few doctors she had growing up on Betazed.. She remembered one when she was a little girl getting a routine check up. There were some unpleasant things that she had to do in the checkup. One was a booster shot of some kind. She hated shots but the doctor helped her through it by talking to her in soothing tones telepathically. This helped her handle the shot much better by being calm through the pain of the shot. She knew she she can't really match that here on the ship because most on the ship were not telepathic. That was where her calming counselor skills will come in. She turned to face Quinna. "Understood sir. Is there anything else I need to know?" It pleases me to find you interested in my home cooking. I trust you will have a need for a few drinks?" Hammons smiled at that. "Drinks sounds good but not the kind you probably mean." He winked at the affable man. "I've already done my morning coffee regimen so something in the juice family would be best." The chef pointed to a small refrigerated unit with a glass door. "I have prepared some home made juices. Spanish oranges, Bajoran prunes, or my personal recommendation: Tellarite Cranberry. The humidity and temperature sure makes those berries particularly sweet and full. Good for your health too!" Hammons blanched a little at the word 'prunes' but perked up at the idea of cranberries. "Tellarite cranberries you say? I hope they don't get into a civil discourse with my stomach but I'm game. Cranberry sounds good." The chef laughed and got down to the business of making their order. His movements were precise and practiced and Steven gained an appreciation for how much of his time he had put into perfecting his art. The stroopwaffle looked crisp and he knew Alaya was probably drooling over the caramel sauce he had just expertly drawn over her breakfast confection. "One stroopwaffle." (Reply: Alaya) "And pancakes with strawberry compote. I truly hope you enjoy it. Feel free to ask anything else." The strawberries with scarlet syrup spreading over the crepes looked absolutely delicious. "Thank you chef, it looks delightful." Hammons grinned as he picked up his plate and snagged a fork on his way to the fridge to pick up a cup of juice. "A nice guy and good at his job." He said to her as they walked to a table. "If this tastes half as good as it looks then we are in for a treat." (Reply: Alaya) The cakes melted in his mouth and the strawberry compote was delectable. He swallowed the mouthful and took a sip of the tart yet sweet juice. "I think this is our guy for the reception. Do you have an idea for the menu yet?" (Reply: Alaya) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Illuminar – Deck 1 – Bridge – OPS, Ens Dieter Gregory - 10:30) Sitting at the Ops station was very different than his time on Deep Space Nine. This was a more focused job at the moment. Working over the controls, Gregory pulled up the flight trajectory, the sensors and overlaid them with the Illumina. Editing some scripts, he started some auto monitoring routines. He wanted to make sure all the ships systems were nominal as the ship was traveling to the destination. Once those tasks were done, Gregory started delving into the system logs to learn how well Illumina did in the Shipmakers trials and on the journey to Bajor. There was a lot for him to learn, from ships stores, to ship operations and more. Of course, there was Luma to figure out as well. After studying the records for an hour, Gregory realized this was a unique vessel. It was going to be a pleasure to learn about it. If this was the prototype for the next generation exploration vessel, Gregory was excited to be part of the initial crew. Diving back into the ships information while checking on his alarms. At 13:00, his replacement came in and relieved Gregory to let him get some lunch. (USS Illuminar – Deck 4 – O Lounge – 1315) Walking into the Offices Lounge, it was clear that Starfleet was employing a different decorator. Warm and welcoming, a place to rest. Walking to the replicator, he entered is code and momentarily his lunch materialized. Taking the tray to a private table, he sat down to eat and read more of what the Illuminar class was all about. The cheese seemed fresher than normal, may be that was the difference between the retrofitted replicators on DS9 and the latest starship. Still a beer would not be remiss. Pretty sure the captain would frown on it, even though it was a tradition back home. (Reply – any, if wanted) Finishing his lunch, Gregory checked the time. ~Time to get back to the bridge.~ (USS Illuminar – Deck 1 – Bridge – 14:30) Gregory resumed his post at operations. He was pleased to see that his programs were still running and everything was nominal. As he continued to review the procedures, he came across the ‘Blue Alert’, which signified that the ship was entering the atmosphere for landing. What a great idea. With a ship this size, you really bring a lot of resources to bear on a situation rather than rely on shuttle craft and transporters. A situation like on Bajor. Gregory thought hard what he had heard on the station. He’d ignored most of the news as he was busy keeping the Chief happy. Gregory began a search to learn what he could about the Bajoran situation. (USS Illuminar – Deck 1 – Bridge – 16:00) Lost in reading he turned up to see the Captain talking to someone on the screen. Permission to land! Well it was time to concentrate. Gregory pulled up the ‘Blue Alert’ checklist and began to run through it. First thing he did was cancel his monitoring programs, they would not be useful now. Next, his fingers running over the console, he started preparing. Checking the energy flow of the ship. Identifying less critical areas that could be shut down in an emergency. Fingers sweating, he heard the command from the Conn. “Deflector shields up.” “Shield up, Aye,” he said as he activated the deflector shields. “I report shields are up. Angle of shields adjusted for landing procedures. All systems show green.” Having never been on a ship, other than a shuttle, that landed on planet, this was exciting. Gregory watched the deflectors, monitoring power fluxuations and ensuring they were maintaining the angle need by the helm. Minutes past as the ship entered the atmosphere and started its descent. Risking a look at the screen, he saw Bajor coming up relatively quickly, or so it seemed to him. “Disengage shields and engage the hull anti-gravity field,” came the call. “Shields disengaged, Aye,” Gregory called, “Shields disengaged. Hull anti-gravity field coming online and engaged. All systems green.” The descent slowed more and the officer on the conn started counting out distance. Gregory recognized as more power was applied, and then slowly decreased again. In a breathless moment, the ship landed. His board showed equal pressure on the landing struts. The Captain spoke, “Well done Lieutenant Grey Wolf.” “Bloody brilliant.” Gregory chimed in. (Reply: All) (Posted by Tim B) (USS Illuminar, Deck 1 - Officers Briefing Room - 2O, Lt. Carson Peters - 1321) “Under siege?” Janice perked up a bit, “That doesn’t sound good.” She looked back at her data PADD briefly. "No, it doesn't" he said before continuing, “I’m not Chief of Security, however I do have a few jobs that will need doing and you’ll likely be dealing with me planet side. So any questions you have around the job, feel free to come to me or mention them now.” “What will need to be done? Every Away Team or Member of staff departing the ship is required to have a Security escort along with them. That’s two security personnel to every away team. No matter what they’re doing or where they’re going. No one, not even the Captain gets away with leaving this ship without this escort, Understood?” He saw nods of agreement and understanding from around the table. “In regards to that, Mr. Kirby you’ve been requested specially by Ensign Taya to be a part of her Away Team which will be investigating the power loss in collaboration with Ashalla Public Health. You’re to report to her team as soon as the ship lands.” Paul nodded, he looked a little nervous but also excited. He’d worked with Taya previously on Mars, and he knew that she trusted him. Probably why the request had come in. “Yes, Sir.” “In regards to the ship landing...” Carsons tone turned a little sour, “The captain plans to land the ship on the surface near to the temple. In his view, this will allow us to provide better support on the ground medically and security wise. Because of this a third of our Security forces are going to need to be spent setting up a perimeter and check-points around wherever we do land. Ensign Williams I’m placing you in charge of that. I’d like a tentative plan in place within the next hour so you and your teams are ready to move as soon as the ship lands.” “Our main concern straight away is to get personnel in place to back up the Bajoran security forces around the Temple. Even with the ship on the ground, this will likely involve a transport in- unless anyone had any creative ideas on how to get through the mass currently barricading the way?” “We might want to keep some shuttles in reserve in case the transporters go down,” Janice added to the conversation, “I wouldn’t recommend flying them regularly. If things go south they might be a tempting low hanging target.” Carson nodded, "I agree. We have 9 shuttles of various sizes onboard. Before we land, I'd like them all outfitted and ready to be utilised if necessary. A last resort if required." “Once we’re in place, Ensign Talence and Mr Hammons - I’d like you to take charge of setting up and controlling the perimeter. The further we can push the crowds away from the Temple the better. Once Security is in place, Medical & Science teams will be able to breach the Temple with Security and start testing whatever it is they need to test. Oh and all of this will be under strict Lockdown measures.” "Do we know the distance between the hotel and the temple, because if I'm looking at this map right this park." Tressa made a motion and a map appeared on the table where she pointed to an open area between the places that were under seige. "Is centrally located between the two places that are under attack, its also as limited accessibility by these four roads. What I'm suggesting is if we support the Bajoran local forces we can push back the protesters back beyond these road access. Thus allowing us to use the park itself as a central operating base to allow for evaluating what is actually going on in this area. These higher buildings that surround this block also allow for overwatch." Janice looked over at the map and nodded, “Its always good to have the high ground. Could we rig up some portable force fields as well to help protect the local forces and maybe narrow the protesters lines of advance into more favourable areas for us? We would also going to have to clear the buildings we push past in the area to and seal them off. Don't want any stragglers behind the lines.” "This is all excellent. If we can set up a forward base of Operations it'll make the job a lot easier. Remember we'll be operating with a small Security Section. Any other Starfleet officers on board with Security training that aren't required for other jobs I want rolling in to your teams. The more man power the better. I get the feeling from the information received that the Bajoran Security forces have hung their people out to dry- so to speak. Very little reinforcements, so those we're going in to help will likely be overrun and sleep deprived." Listening glanced back over just having a thought Janice continued, “Just thinking about it. If we are going to be seen by the public would we want to wear Bajoran uniforms. I know it might not be standard protocol but if the people see Starfleet uniforms intermingled with local enforcement it might incense them more – Not only that it would make our people more of a target too.” “Sir, if I may?” Tamblyn raised his hand, Carson had invited him to the meeting as he knew the man had a working knowledge from outside of Starfleet which could be beneficial. "Please," Carson said, opening the floor to the man. But also nodding to Janice to make sure she knew he'd heard her suggestion. “Sir, as a bounty hunter, I have worked with local law enforcement capturing fugitives and assisted in the protection of various VIPs, most unsavory. There are a group of tunnels that the Bajoran government keeps secret.” Carson's eyebrows lifted, he'd suspected there would be some sort of tunnel system, but none of the official Federation or Bajor maps showed them. "Well that would change things significantly." he replied, leaning forward eager to hear more. Looking around the room as he spoke- Tamblyn continued, “Ladies and gentlemen, these tunnels run from the temple hotel to the temple, and all of them have hidden access points on both ends and they also inter connect at various points.” (Reply any) “Those tunnels are the site of possibly one of the bloodiest VIP rescues of my civilian career. It is a Blackout Zone. No sensors, no comms, no beaming, and those tunnels are tight, so small arms use only. The longest weapon we were able to use was a short rifle or a dagger.” Tamblyn paused for a moment and then, “Sir, I understand that as Federation representatives, we are providing medical and humanitarian aid; but are we putting down this uprising for the Bajoran government or are they officially doing it themselves without Starfleet support?” "We don't have the manpower to put down an uprising- if this is what it is." Carson said matter-of-factly. "All we can do is provide aid to the Bajoran Security forces. Potentially investigate what the driving force behind these protests are and bring them to a stop and protect our own people." He manipulated the map a little, "The Temple Hotel is just outside of the current Black Out zone. It seems to me that is the primary target for our initial base of operations. Transport key personnel and Security forces there and we can utilise your tunnels Mr Tamblyn to get our people into the Temple." (Replies any) "As for your suggestion on the Uniform Ensign." Carson brought his attention back to Hammerfield, "Your suggestion does have merit. We're being allowed to help due to the Bajoran government wanting to show a level of force they're currently unable to. See now, we have the might of Starfleet and the Federation here. It's a smoke and mirrors game, we actively need to be seen. Unless things change, it's full Uniform and Security kit." (Replies any) "Once we're on the ground, have set-up in the Hotel and got our personnel inside. We begin to work with the Bajorans on getting these protests moved back as Ensign Talence has suggested. Oh I cannot stress this enough. Everyone is to be fully armed, but set to stun. All understood?" (Reply all) (Reply Talence, Hammerfield, Hammons- room for more) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (USS Illuminar, Deck 1 - Officers Briefing Room – Ops – CPO Charles Tamblyn - 1327) "Once we're on the ground, have set-up in the Hotel and got our personnel inside. We begin to work with the Bajorans on getting these protests moved back as Ensign Talence has suggested. Oh, I cannot stress this enough. Everyone is to be fully armed but set to stun. All understood?" As the conversation continued, Charles was trying to figure out how to get his bounty hunter experience to work with his Starfleet NCO experience. Then he remembered something he was once told years prior, “When a single Reservist deploys, you are not mobilizing only the military training and experience but the civilian training and experience as well.” The idea was basically you get two for the price of one with a mobilized Reservist. He had firsthand experience fighting in those tunnels. Charles understood the carnage that could be wrought in such dark, confined, and confusing spaces. Tamblyn believed that there was only one true way to take an enemy combatant out of a fight and keep them out of it, and weapons set to stun was not it. Yet he did understand the position Peters took on the issue and would abide by the directive if or until it came down to hand-to-hand combat. Looking toward Lieutenant Peters, “Sir, with your permission…” Tamblyn started before shifting his focus to Ensign Saarsgard and Ensign Williams, “…and if you gentlemen have no objections, I’ll be a scout and guide in the tunnels.” he finished with a sternness in his eyes that betrayed the calm of his voice. Carson said as he began to stand up from the table. "Obviously we'll have to see what's going on once we get there, but at the very least we have an outline of a plan which should work. Those tunnels will be extremely useful. First base, to be set-up at the Temple Hotel. Second Base outside the Temple itself and then if we can push the Protestors back we can set up a forward base at the intersection Ensign Talence has suggested. Get your teams ready, I expect you all ready on the first landing- that includes yourself Mr Tamblyn. With that, I'll see you all soon." Carson nodded and headed to exit the room. Any pilot could do this in their sleep. What the commanding officer had been talking with the Bajoran government about though had her tense and nervous. That government official was still on the viewscreen though not for long. =^=Permission has been given Commander. Planetary flight control will direct you down. =^= "Thank-you minister. Illuminar out. Lieutenant Grey Wolf prepare to land.=^= "Yes sir." Tempest breathed in deeply and held it for a moment before pushing that blue button. "Andros flight control this is Illuminar requesting a flight path for landing." =^=Copy that Illuminar, Vector established for landing pad 3.=^= "How large is your landing pad?" She asked just to cover her bases. =^=One hundred meters long, it's our largest pad. It will easily accommodate small freighters.=^= Something had gotten lost in the translation. "Andros flight control Illuminar is three hundred fifty meters long." There was a moment of shocked silence from the other end. Finally he answered. =^=What the hell are you flying?=^= She almost allowed a smile to break her stoic exterior. "This is the USS Illuminar, the Federation's newest starship." =^=You plan on landing a starship? By the Prophets! I don't have a landing pad big enough for that!=^= She did allow the corners of her lips to upturn slightly at that even though she was internally shaking from nervous energy. "Do you have a vacant location near the temple I can set down?" =^=Stand by a moment.=^= The line went silent for several minutes giving her time to report the snag to the CO who just nodded with a short reply of assent. Finally flight control came back. =^=USS Illuminar I have a field outside the city and roughly three blocks from the temple I can direct you to. It's not completely smooth however, you may encounter a rough spot or two.=^= "That will work, the landing feet will adjust for terrain." The man let out a breath. =^=Plotting your entry vector and course now.=^= When it came through she thanked him and locked it into navigational control. "Thank you flight control." =^=Good luck Illuminar and out.=^= "Vector and course locked in sir." "She turned her head slightly. "Deflector shields up please." (Reply: Operations) The blue lamp was initiated notifying the rest of the ship that Illuminar was entering atmospheric landing operations. (Reply,: All) "Engage Lieutenant." Tempest took another steadying breath then engaged thrusters to slew the ship to starboard and drop the nose twenty five degrees then fired aft thrusters. "Beginning atmospheric entry phase." The pitch was crucial, too shallow and the ship would skip off the atmosphere, too deep and it would burn up upon reentry so she monitored it closely, making adjustments as necessary. Tempest also activated the control to flatten the mobile nacelle pylons for entry, they would help to provide lift during atmospheric flight. There was a shudder as the ship entered the upper atmosphere and the speed began to increase. Tempest fired the saucer section's impulse engines to control Illuminar and push it out of freefall as she brought the nose up. Maneuvering thrusters were engaged to hold the vector. The ship rocked with some turbulence but she held the course steady, her eyes never straying from the instruments. They continued to lose altitude but at a controlled pace as she steered it toward Ashalla. No doubt the viewscreen was showing a wondrous sight, she glanced up for only an instant to catch the view of puffy clouds and blue sky before looking back down. "On course for Ashalla sir." "Acknowledged." The minutes ticked by as the ship bled off altitude until her LZ was almost directly beneath her. She then drew in a deep breath and opened the ventral thrust plates on the bottom of the engineering hull and routed the aft impulse engines to them while disengaging the forward thrust. "Disengage shields and engage the hull anti-gravity field." (Reply: Operations) Forward thrusters were fired to kill momentum as the ship came to a halt and hovered over the landing zone. Tiny beads of sweat appeared on her forehead as the trickiest part of the operation lay ahead. "Deploying landing feet." She then began lowering impulse power to the vertical thrust plates. "Over the landing zone, descending." Illuminar at twenty five hundred feet then began the slow descent to her designated target. "1,500 feet... 1,000... 500." Shifting crosswinds necessitated adjustments with the thrusters in microbursts. The ground was rising toward them. At 200 feet she increased the drive slightly to slow their descent, continuing to edge it up until it was almost at a hover five feet above the ground then gently lowered power until with a slight bump Illuminar settled into position. Tempest then lowered the drive gradually until the ship had settled completely then stopped the flow and closed the thrust plates. She realized her heart was racing and settled back in her chair while taking deep breaths with her eyes closed. "Well done Lieutenant Grey Wolf." (Reply: Any) Tempest almost hadn't heard them over the sound of her heartbeat in her ears. She felt like fainting and wondered if she had been breathing at all during the descent. She had a productive day. There was the fall of Ensign Gregory. She spent most of the day checking the list of materials for the onsite lab again for the fifth time and now she went though her first full ship landing. As landings go, she would give it an 8.5. Afterall she had to catch a few things that were breakable in her office. She turned and looked at the picture of her parents on her desk. “Hey Mom and Dad. I cannot believe I am back on Bajor. I was not sure if I wanted to be here or not, but I am happy I am. Just wish you were here as well. Love you both.” And with that Quinna grabbed her go bag with things she may need on her stay. Just before she excited her office, she ran back to the desk and picked up her picture of her parents. Quinna punched her Comm badge and called out to Ensign Dalton. “Lt. Solice to Ensign Dalton. Meet me with the med supplies. Be ready to disembark the ship soon.” (Reply Dalton) (played by Kris) (USS Illuminar - Deck 7 - CSCRD Office - ASCRD Ensign Stennin - 1603) Stennin took one last look at his console as he stood up. (USS Illuminar - Deck 7 - Atmospherics Physics Lab - ASCRD Ensign Stennin - 1605) Stennin walked over to the large panel where two scientists were standing around. One of them, a small female human, nodded. "We've got all the sensors lined up. We'll be checking in the atmospherical changes as we descend." She now said. Stennin nodded fervently, and watched as the other scientist, a Bajoran male, tapped some commands. "Our scanners picked up some heightened ammonia levels when we first arrived." He commented. Stennin nodded and murmured. "It would be logical to assume that these come from the geothermal activity?" He mused. The Bajoran man nodded. "That is most likely it. We also found some sulphur and CO2 emissions." Stennin nodded again and tapped some commands to zoom in to the landing zone. "Any dangers in our area?" He inquired. The woman shook her head. "All nominal. The air should be relatively clean." She answered. Stennin nodded. (Reply Jaton) (Written by Yoerik van Heugten) (Bajor - Ashalla - Plaza of the Prophets - Major Tan Filar - 1615) The Prylar seemed to prefer a nine to nine rotation since he had taken the podium about that time this morning. This had no bearing on the situation for those guarding the gate though since the presence and words of their religious leader appeared to be emboldening the crowd which, pressing nearer to the gates had more than doubled in size and there were many muttered threats. There was no relief on the way and no way to know when such might arrive and Filar's greatest fear was that phasers might appear among the throng which would cause the confrontation to quickly escalate into a firefight. And the day wasn't near over. There were still hours left for the situation to explode and when it did there would be no stopping it. The catcalls were increasing in frequency, faces were a mask of rage and the leading members of the crowd were preparing to storm the barricade. Some had already tried it and been driven back but there had been no cohesion to the push, but if they attacked en masse? Filar's top group was manning the line with shields and batons ready for the surge when a roar of sound began low but quickly built in volume. The front of the mass of people before them began to falter and look about, finally looking up and their eyes grew wide. Major Tan allowed himself an instant to look in the direction they were facing then stood transfixed. The gleaming metal conveyance was still far away but he already had an idea of the size and it kept getting bigger as it got closer. He tore his eyes away to note that very few in the mob were looking at them any longer, some were pointing and their comrades looked to the sky then began edging back. He imagined he could read their thoughts in that instant. ~What if it's coming for us?~ The huge vessel hovered high in the air not far away as he looked back toward it and some kind of landing gear was deployed. "By the Prophets they're going to land that thing!" Someone among his people shouted loud enough to be heard. Brilliant exhaust at four points on the underside of the engineering hull showed where it was getting its lift and the warp nacelles were clearly visible. Even the Prylar had stopped his sermon and was looking up in amazement. Major Tan kept his eyes focused on the milling group ahead of them as they continued to edge away. ~Don't stop now, keep going.~ "It's landing!" He looked back toward the vessel as the crowd retreated and watched as the starship. ~A freaking starship no less!~, began descending. It was at least a thousand feet long and surely too heavy for the landing gear. "They have to have anti-grav incorporated." He muttered to himself. And it was tall enough that he didn't lose sight of the upper saucer section because of the trees as it touched down, with not the slightest jiggle. The roar which had been nearly deafening faded into a whisper then normal sound began to return. One of his men spoke gleefully. "That's Federation! Who the hell is piloting that ship?" Filar only nodded mutely. He wasn't even aware StarFleet had starships with planetary landing capability. He finally found his voice. "What a time for them to finally show up." And then he smiled in relief. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Illuminar - Deck 1 - Operations – Ensign Dieter Gregory - 16:30) With the ship on the ground, Gregory begin the post landing checks as specified in the Blue Alert checklist. He first began rerouting power and increased monitoring of the landing struts. It would be a bad thing for those to fail. Next, he increased the computer bandwidth to the sensors so that they could deal with the extra noise that would be coming in from being on Terra Firma, as it were. He also increased power to the deflector banks. Not that they were on at the moment, but who knew what hostiles might decide a landed starship would be a good target. It was hard for him to think of Bajoran’s as hostiles, based on the people he worked with on the station, and those he met at the inn almost two weeks ago. ~I still have to make that climb~ he thought to himself as fingers Finishing his required checks, he turned his chair around, “Commander, Operations station shows green. All checks completed and systems are operating within normal parameters.” (Reply Sekal, if needed) (USS Illuminar - Deck 1 - Operations – Ensign Dieter Gregory - 16:50) Gregory watched as the Commander left the bridge. Turning back to his panel, he had an idea. “Lieutenant Verin. Since we are on the planet, and there may be trouble, I am thinking we could establish a constant monitoring of our teams. We could overlay a map of the area on the main viewer and use our sensors to monitor the crew’s location. This would give us a better understanding of the situation, and probably will take no more than 5% of the sensor bandwidth. If we launched a class V probe, I think we could reprogram the navigation system to establish a geostationary orbit that would give us backup sensor data and allow us to better establish crew locations. Ideally, we’d launch two probes with different orbits to allow better triangulation with the ship’s sensor. “ (Reply Sienna, any science officer on the bridge) (Reply: Sekal, Sienna, and science station) (Posted by Tim B) (USS Illuminar- Deck 4, Transporter Room 1- COUNSAlaya Ravenstone - 1640) Alaya had gone by her shared quarters to take the time to change. Dressing in her more normal, formal and fancy uniform (rather than the normal informal counselor uniform she wore on ship) she took a moment to braid her beautiful blue hair and tied it off, finishing with combat boots that were designed for the ground. She carefully inserted knives into her boots, making sure that her pants covered the tops of the boots. No one expected the Counselor to be able to either defend herself, or to take down a threat. She looked at herself in the mirror for a long moment before heading to the transporter room and meeting up with her party. She smiled towards Sekal as she watched him dealing with the security detail. She knew that the female was the guard that Hammons had chosen for her. Alaya moved to stand next to Sekal on the transporter as he took command of the situation. Alaya's talents and skills as well as training leaned heavily in the direction of diplomacy rather than the more normal shipboard space psychology. She did have skill in that, but Alaya did not enjoy it as she did diplomatic encounters. Diplomacy it could be said was a dance. Hammons took that moment to enter the transporter room, and Alaya's smile brightened the room. She saw the knife that she had gifted her chosen mate with and was pleased that he would be using the long blade. She caught Sekal's expression and shrugged lightly, explaining, "It was a gift upon our engagement. It's a ceremonial piece." That could kill. (Bajor- Ashalla, Government offices portico - COUNS Alaya Ravenstone & SPC Bajoran Minister of Security Kzan Dirnay - 1657) Alaya shivered when the transport was complete. For some reason, the transporter always left her with the feeling that someone was running a cold finger down her spine. Alaya turned towards the approaching Minister who was meeting them. What she sensed was complex. There was duplicity. There was frustration. There was concern. And underneath it all, a sense of a martial feeling, that he knew what the solution to something was and he felt hamstringed. She wanted to probe further, but knew that the ethics of Starfleet prohibited that except in certain situations. She kept her mouth shut as Sekal introduced her. Alaya knew that her eyes gave her away as a full blooded Betazoid. They were led inside a rather lovely governmental building that had a sense of age to it. The minister sighed. "The council of Vedeks is being... difficult. I can only guess at their political motives though they would seem apparent. Politically we have to keep the quarantine in place over the temple but attempts to move select members from there into isolation has been resisted by them. It's a sticky situation for the civilian government but as representatives of the Federation and StarFleet you have greater latitude as well as our support to do what needs to be done." He leaned back and looked away before returning his attention to them. "And if that offends the Vedeks then so be it. I'd rather them be offended than have a full scale war break out here on Bajor between civilian and government forces. To be quite honest I can't even count on the majority of government forces either." Alaya frowned as his underlying emotions seemed to focus on that martial feeling for a moment. She wanted to ask about it. "I am sure that you know that I am a Betazoid, Minister. I feel something martial? when you were speaking, as if you have a way to solve all of this. Would you feel inclined to share your opinion?" The half cardassian stared at Alaya for a long moment, "Between us, I believe that a strategic assassination of that rabble rouser Pryler Tekan would solve everything. He's one of the most charismatic speakers, and he is the reason that we have so many civilians agitating to get into the Temple. He is 'preaching' that this is the Prophets who are calling the Bajoran people home through death. It's ridiculous, but with the Vedek Council basically opposing itself and not speaking as one unified voice against the Pryler, well. I fear the death that will happen, and I am terrified that if the Kai passes from whatever this is, that Bajor will have the inevitable civil war, which we, the High Council, know will change our status in the Federation. " He sighed, passing a hand over his eyes as if he had a headache. "So tell me, Commander, Counselor, what are your plans and what can we do to help you? I should warn you that even in the High Council that there are factions that are opposed to you being here. Our Health Minister, Njar Lyian is a devoutly religious political figure who puts politics first and public health a far second." Alaya frowned at all of this and looked up at Sekal, worried. (reply Sekal) (posted by Mel - SPC Kzan Dirnay & Alaya Ravenstone) (USS Illuminar- Deck 4, Outside Transporter Room 1- SecO, PO (1st class) Steven Hammons- 1648) The cadre of security personnel was starting to form up outside of transporter rooms 1 and 2 with the officers themselves congregating at transporter room one. They were to beam to the hotel by twos accompanied by four lower ranking crewmen. So Hammons was waiting his turn and to see which group he fell into when Alaya and the CO squeezed past on their way to meet with the government. Hammons caught her eye and patted the ornately hilted Bowie knife she had presented to him and he smiled at her. He was taking CPO Tamblyn's warning seriously and was packing it along with his sidearm and a stun baton which would come in handy at the temple itself. Bladed weapons weren't exactly a StarFleet staple and absolutely frowned on in most situations. If a CO caught you carrying one around on the ship and especially the bridge it could elicit a stern talking to about the use of one on the ship according to his understanding. But if it saved his life on Bajor they could talk all they wanted. Sekal had caught sight of it and quirked an eyebrow of course but said nothing and Steven planned on giving him no reason in the future to complain about it. It's not like he ever got called to the bridge anyway and the blade normally wouldn't be seen outside of his quarters. He nodded as Chief Tamblyn walked up. "Afternoon sir. Captain has already left and Lieutenant Peters should be along any moment. Talence and I will be accompanying you and Hammerfield through the tunnels with the rest of the force." (Reply: Tamblyn) Hammons nodded. "They will be showing up at any time. The sooner we get this over and done with the better." It was good to have someone along who knew the lay of the land so to speak. He looked away as more started arriving. (Reply: Tamblyn, Peters, Hammerfield, Talence) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Illuminar- Deck 4, Transporter Room 1- CO, Lieutenant Commander Sekal- 1650) The ship had not been long on the ground and post landing checks had all been within acceptable parameters. The ship had come through with little difficulty as expected between a solid design taken from the earlier Bellerophon Class after extensive breaking in of the system and tweaking the procedures. The pilot had gone through the required simulations and performed the maneuver with precision but no simulation can capture every permutation and she had adapted well. After this he knew that he could count on her in the future to perform her duties at an exceptional level. The security teams headed for the temple along with CPO Tamblyn were gathering outside the transporter rooms in preparation for insertion into the hotel as Sekal and Counselor Ravenstone entered. He was met by two security officers armed with phaser pistols who came to attention. He cocked his head as he addressed them. "You appear to be early crewmen." "No sir." The woman replied. "We will be accompanying your party as ordered." Sekal quirked an eyebrow as he held her gaze, he had given no such order. "You are mistaken." "No sir I'm not." She didn't flinch away from eye contact. "Our orders are that no one including you leaves the ship unattended sir." It was a logical extrapolation who had given such an order. This had Lieutenant Peters' fingerprints all over it. Sekal could well remember Admiral Remae at the time having a security detail forced upon him despite his protests. "Very well." He could countermand that order as the forces were needed elsewhere but had no other logical foundation upon which to do so and Bajor could now be classified as hazardous territory. Sekal walked to the transporter console and tapped a button. "Notify Minister Kzan we will be arriving shortly." =^=Yes sir.=^= He nodded to Alaya as the four took their place on the transport pads. "Energize." (Bajor - Ashalla, Government offices portico-CO, Lieutenant Commander Sekal- 1655) As they materialized on the paved area encircled by the office buildings of the government complex Sekal began looking about. The sun was behind the westernmost of the buildings so that they were well shaded. There were a number of small trees planted in a ring at the center encircled by park benches where people at lunch could have a drink or eat and take their ease. The minister had just left one of the buildings and was walking toward them with a small retinue. As he approached his hybrid nature became readily apparent. Were this directly after the occupation one would have expected his parentage to have been somewhat of a forcible nature but in the interim there had been some measure of closure and cooperation between Cardassia and Bajor spearheaded by the Oralian Way which had gained a lot of traction after Cardassia had been decimated by the Dominion. The Oralian Way had embraced the worship of the Prophets and Vedek Yevir instrumental in forging them into The Way on Bajor. Religion it appeared despite its rebuttal by most of the Federation could be used to bring people together rather than separating them as was most often the case. It had not been easily done but it was cemented now. "Captain Sekal welcome." The minister came to a stop before them. "Commander Sekal." He corrected. "And Counselor Ravenstone." (Reply: Alaya) The minister shrugged. "Welcome all the same to both of you. We are happy to have Federation assistance. Please follow me." The clothing he wore was loose fitting though tasteful and in the color of earth tones highlighted by green. Similar to the uniforms worn by Bajoran security but more comfortable. Sekal fell into step with the shorter man as they walked back toward the building. "I apologize for the tense situation you are coming into Commander, the situation sprang up without warning and boiled over quickly." "What steps are you taking?" (Bajor- Ashalla, Government office- Lieutenant Commander Sekal- 1658) The Minister growled as they entered the building. "The High Minister doesn't want this to look like a military confrontation so I'm having to make do with the people I have available but I've made preparations." He gestured toward a nearby office he had commandeered for the occasion. "I have five hundred available to beam into place not if but when this spirals out of control with that many more being available within hours. We don't want it to come to that obviously but if you aren't able to take control of the situation we will be left with no choice." He sat down behind the desk as Sekal and Alya took seats, the security detail had remained outside the door. "Which brings to mind the question Minister of just what exactly we are being called upon to do." The Vulcan crossed his arms as he waited for the reply. Dirnay leaned forward and held up a finger to emphasize his point. "I should think it would be obvious. Find whatever is causing the issue in the temple, prove it's mundane and not some miraculous working of the Prophets then put a stop to it. Once the populace finds out it isn't divine it should relieve the pressure." The Vulcan nodded. "Logical and acceptable as it is not our purpose to put down an uprising but to find answers. And for those answers to prevent an uprising is preferable." (Reply: Alaya) The minister sighed. To be quite honest I can't even count on the majority of government forces either." (Reply: Alaya) (Posted by Charles G) (USS Illuminar - Deck 1, Bridge - ACSO Lieutenant (jg) Jaton Alyl - 16:52) Jaton was turned around and listening to Gregory’s idea, intrigued. “ (Reply Sienna) Jaton nodded. “That shouldn’t be too hard.” He then turned back to his station and began tapping away on his panel. He looked over at the viewscreen as he did and it changed to an overhead view of the city. He then tapped a couple more buttons, and labels appeared on the map. “The satellite view we’ve got isn’t currently live, since that will have to wait until the probes are in orbit. However what we’ve got is the most recent satellite view of the temple and surrounding district, with labels pulled from our map archive. Working on cross-referencing with the Bajoran Central Archives now.” Jaton then tapped his commbadge. “Alyl to Stennin.” (Reply Stennin) “Can you please prepare two probes for launch and ping me back when they’re ready?” (Reply Stennin) Jaton then turned back to Verin. “Ma’am, I’d suggest we alert the Bajorans that we’re going to be launching two probes into orbit. They may not take kindly to an unannounced and unauthorised launch into their space.” (Reply Verin, any) (Posted by Spencer) (USS Illuminar - Deck 7 - CSCRD Office - ASCRD Ensign Stennin - 1653) Stennin looked over the data a few more times. The descent had been difficult, but the atmospheric readings had not caused much trouble. In fact, the science team would have important data on the procedures of planetfall, which was last done some time ago. As he noted some of the data in his PADD, he walked over to another console, where a Denobulan female stood behind. "Could you investigate if the CO2 emissions did anything to our life support?" Stennin asked. The Denobulan nodded. With that, he returned to the large table where he had been standing for some time. The Bajoran man tapped some commands, and a few details came up. The local air was breathable. However, it was a rather hot day out there. According to his findings, about 32 degrees. Stennin looked up when his combadge pinged. He quickly tapped it. =/\= Alyl to Stennin.=/\= Stennin rose his brows, but then answered. "Stennin standing by, lieutenant. The landing proceeded as planned. The atmospherics lab reports no damage to the ship. Is there anything you need?" =/\= Can you please prepare two probes for launch and ping me back when they’re ready? =/\= Stennin frowned for a moment. He had to check in, but he was certain there were several probes available. He turned to one of the wall panels and tapped some commands. "Affirmative, lieutenant. I will prepare two Class V probes for immediate take-off and report it to the bridge." Stennin then closed the commlink. He nodded at the scientists in the atmospherics labs. He quickly made for the corridor and the turbolift. (USS Illuminar - Deck 10 - FLight Control Center - ASCRD Ensign Stennin - 1705) Stennin looked one final time at the flight plan and then nodded to the attending officer, a Vulcan female. They had planned the specific orbit of the two probes for a few minutes. Jaton's requirements were specific. Once he was satisfied with the results, as far as a Vulcan would, he tapped his commbadge. "Stennin to Lieutenant Alyl." (Reply Jaton) "The probes are ready and we have verified your flight schedule. The navigational computers should have no problem establishing a geostationary orbit over our position." (Reply Jaton) Stennin nodded and awaited as the probes were loaded into the torpedo tubes. (Reply Jaton, Bridge) (Written by Yoerik van Heugten) (USS Illuminar- Deck 4, Transporter Room 1- Ensign Janice Hammerfield - 1659) "Evening folks. We got a party going on?" "I didn’t know it was that type of hotel,” quipped Janice back checking her equipment over for the tenth time since putting it on. Satisfied she moved up onto the transporter pad and gave an affirmative nod back. "Let's get this show on the road shall we?" There was some murmuring between the others to her side but nothing that she could make out particularly well. It must not have been for her ears. Her hand rested on her phaser as the signal was give for the transport to begin (Bajor, Ashalla - Temple Hotel – The Hotel Manager - 1702) "Evening." he nodded his head to them. "I'm Lieutenant Peters, the Second Officer aboard the USS Illuminar. We're here to assist with the protection of the Temple and this Hotel here." "Ah yes we’ve been expecting you – and about bloody time id say. Ive not seen things like this outside in quite some time. Ill be happy to have a bit of extra security about the place” He said the Carson as the other man looked over, “Or a target on he building?” The manger quickly snapped his fingers and pointed towards the back sending the younger man away. "How many of the Vedeks do you have here in the Hotel?" Carson asked. "A lot – its been challenging,” he said under his breath, “but the prophets have led them here so we shall do our best to accommodate. Prepared he slid over the hotel manifest of rooms and occupants. “Most were fortunate to make it here.” "Fantastic. I think we'll like to speak with the Council as soon as possible. However for now, we need access to.." and he moved a little closer, "to the subterranean tunnels." “What tunnels?” he looked back blankly at Carson. "We're Starfleet, we know a lot." He winked slightly. "If you could lead Ensign Talence, Hammerfield and their team to the entrance they'll begin making their way to secure the Temple." “I see...” he snapped his fingers again bringing the man back from earlier. It was astonishing the speed at which he responded to the snap. “Ianito – take these people to the sub basement,” “The sub basement?” he questioned back to be sure. “You heard me,” he glared across with a sharp look. “Very well – if you could all follow me this way.” he said waving his hand towards some stairs to the side and grabbing an antiquated set of keys from behind the manager. “Prophet’s guide you all,” smiled the Manager back. Janice looked on as the man led them down a set of stairs into a basement used to house supplies for the building. It looked like a small bunker – maybe it was at some point. He raised the keys up to the north facing wall where a small light shot out of it scanning the keys. A sharp hiss followed as the wall beside parted and led into the tunnels towards the temple. “The sub-basement,” he gestured then removed a key from the ring attaching them together. Holding it out to Talence he looked at it, “In case you need to come back this way. Please don’t lose it they are pretty old,” (Reply Carson, Talence, Tamblyn, Hammons) (Posted by Adam P) (USS Illuminar- Deck 4, Transporter Room 1- 2O, Lt. Carson Peters - 1700) Now that there were personnel setup in the clearing around the ship to protect it from any incursions, Carson was now jogging along the corridors heading to Transporter Room 1 to meet up with the Security personnel heading to the Temple Hotel. As he got closer to the room, he slowed from a job into a brisk walk. He turned the corner and saw a grouping of Security Officers and slowed down further. "Evening folks. We got a party going on?" smiling as he approached. (Reply any) Walking into the Transporter Room, he nodded his head towards Talence and Hammerfield. "Let's get this show on the road shall we?" (Reply Hammerfield/Talence) Stepping up onto the pad alongside Hammerfield, Talence, Hammons, Tamblyn and a few others, Carson asked "How did the Commander like his escort?" under his breath to Hammons. (Reply Hammons) "Good, Good." Carson said sarcastically smiling. "You may proceed with Transport when ready." he said in a louder voice to the Petty Officer at the controls. (Bajor, Ashalla - Temple Hotel - 2O, Lt. Carson Peters - 1701) As they rematerialised in the large ornate lobby of the Temple Hotel a few of the Bajoran security staff raised their weapons in their direction, only to immediately lower them on realisation of who they were. Carson approached the two gentlemen at the desk. "Evening." he nodded his head to them. "I'm Lieutenant Peters, the Second Officer aboard the USS Illuminar. We're here to assist with the protection of the Temple and this Hotel here." (Reply Hotel Manager - if anyone wants to play) "How many of the Vedeks do you have here in the Hotel?" Carson asked as several of his colleagues began scattering out around him to take defensive positions and join up with the Bajoran security. (Reply Hotel Manager) Upon hearing that the majority of the Vedek community was present and at least three quarters of the council had made it out of the Temple securely was a relief. "Fantastic. I think we'll like to speak with the Council as soon as possible. However for now, we need access to.." and he moved a little closer, "to the subterranean tunnels." (Reply Hotel Manager) "We're Starfleet, we know a lot." He winked slightly. "If you could lead Ensign Talence, Hammerfield and their team to the entrance they'll begin making their way to secure the Temple." (Reply Hotel Manager, Talence, Hammerfield, Tamblyn, Hammons) (Posted by Jono Bradley) (Bajor- Ashalla, Government offices - CO- Lieutenant Commander Sekal- 1703) "Between us, I believe that a strategic assassination of that rabble rouser Pryler Tekan would solve everything. " He sighed and rubbed his eyes. "So tell me, Commander, Counselor, what are your plans and what can we do to help you? I should warn you that even in the High Council that there are factions that are opposed to you being here. Our Health Minister, Njar Lyian is a devoutly religious political figure who puts politics first and public health a far second." Sekal noted the frown Alaya turned in his direction from the corner of his eye but his gaze remained firmly fixed on the Minister of Security. "Our plans are simple Minister. Security from the ship will reinforce your forces stationed outside the temple and relieve the pressure there by clearing the plaza after which my science and medical teams will enter and find answers while stabilizing those inside by any means necessary. I have given the chief medical officer my complete support and if she feels evacuation of those inside are the only way to do so then Illuminar will take them aboard." He leaned forward to emphasize his next point. "As for what you can do to help." His eyes narrowed. "Restraining your impulse to kill the Prylar would be most helpful. Arrest him for inciting a public disturbance if you wish but his death would only exacerbate the situation." (Reply: Kzan iyw) "I am a student of history as well as the scientific disciplines minister and religious figures who are killed for their teachings become martyrs. His followers may initially disperse at his death but the ideal will have taken root and he will become more dangerous in death than in life. Bajor's course to a civil war at that point would be solidified. The only way to combat extremist religious teachings is through facts and logic and that is the reason we are here." (Reply: Kzan iyw) "Keeping the public health minister out of our way should be your other priority. My people will work better without her interference and while support from that department would be beneficial I will not allow her or those under her authority to sabotage our efforts and will bar them from the temple area if necessary. My teams have enough pressure from time constraints and concern for their own safety without adding outside pressure and if their tasks become untenable I will pull them back. Have I made myself clear?" (Reply: Kzan iyw) Sekal stood to his feet. "And lastly a meeting with the Vedeks would seem to be in order. Your full support is appreciated. Thank you for your time minister." He inclined his head deferentially to the man before turning and walking out the door. (Reply: Alaya) (Posted by Charles G)
