Gregory was not convinced that the organization has been eradicated. Wounded, yes, but like the mythical Hydra of old, when one head is cut off, two more grow in its place. He shrugged and walked over to his safe. He took out the items contained within. The key that he recovered on DS9, and the locket that Quinna, Dr. Solice, has been carrying around for years. He placed them on his desk. They had done some scans on them, but there was only so much that he could get from the tricorder. Pulling up the ship's records, he checked to see that Science Lab 1 was open at this hour. He made some notes and reserved the space. Dieter dashed off a note to Dr. Solice before securing the pieces in a padded case. (USS Illuminar - Deck 6 - Science Lab 1 - 2/O LCDR Dieter Gregory - 0215)Gregory entered his code and stepped into the laboratory. The lights came on in the room. He walked across the room to multispectral spectrograph. Sitting down at the controls he activated the startup routine and turned his chair around to warm up the laser interferometer. Opening the case, he took out the key and laid it on the spectrograph. The cover closed and the machine whirred as it started making its measurements. He watched as the system made its measurements. After five minutes the cover opened. Dieter took the key out and placed it in the laser interferometer. Going through the motions, he started the scanning of the key. ÒComputer, lock all data generated under my key, eyes only.Ó =^= Acknowledged =^= The interferometer finished its work. Dieter repeated the process with the locket. With the data generated, he activated a program to analyze the data while he moved over to the scanning probe microscope. Putting the key into the sample chamber. He started it up and the system began probing the key. The system estimated it would take 45 minutes to complete the scan. Dieter yawned and stepped over to the display table. The results of the first two scans had finished rendering and the results were hovering over the table. His thoughts drifted back to his time at the Daystrom institute. Working closely with Professor Devadhikar on his theories of tachyons, as a visiting student, he had to take the time he could on the instruments. This was like that. His scientific curiosity piqued. He thought back to the writings of Shapespeare, the game was definitely afoot, although the meaning by Conan Doyle was more appropriate. Now he needed a pipe and a deerstalker cap to complete the image. ÒComputer, integrate data from scanning probe microscope into current model view.Ó Dieter watched as the computer incorporated the data from the microscope. Running through the kata was a mental exercise as he visualized attackers and what the moves represented. It was a mental battle against multiple opponents. He was through his third set when the door chime rang, breaking his concentration during a spinning roundhouse head kick. He stumbled out of the move and cursed softly.ÒYeah, yeah, IÕm coming,Ó he called out, knowing that the person on the other side of the door probably couldnÕt hear him. Grabbing a towel to wipe the sweat from his face he moved over to the door and tapped the pad to open it.He was happily surprised to find the doorway filled with Quinna. A huge smile spread across his face and he held out his hand, ÒWhy Dr. Solace, this is an unexpected pleasure. I hope that youÕve come to give me a thorough physical examination.ÓThen he noted the look on her face and stepped aside to let her byh, ÒThatÕs not a happy look.ÓQuinna looked at Michael and then pulled him into her arms. She needed a moment, she held him tight. She took in his smell, the feel of him after a workout. She reached up for a kiss. ÒWe need to talk. I need to talk.Ó Quinna said as she pulled herself away. Michael could feel her warmth dissolve as she pulled away. That was an ominous disparity to the warmth of her original embrace. And nothing good has ever come from those four words. ÒWe need to talk.ÓÒOkay,Ó he said warily, Òwhy donÕt you come all the way in and sit down. IÕll talk with you about almost anything. WhatÕs on your mind?ÓQuinna moved over to the couch and sat down in the middle. She crossed her legs and put her hands in her lap. Her thumbs twiddle around each other. ÒCome sit with me.Ó Quinna said as she patted the seat next to her.~Oh this is going to be bad.~ He sat down next to her and took her hands in his, looking worried now. ÒQuinna youÕre killing me. WhatÕs the problem? Whatever it is, we can resolve it.ÓQuinna took a deep breath. She wanted to be selfish, but knew she had to let this play out. ÒFiona is dead.Ó There it came out of her mouth and it seemed easier than she thought. ÒI did not intend to kill her.ÓMiclael blinked, not sure if he heard what he thought heÕd heard. He blinked again once his brain processed the information, uncertain if he was sorry his old partner was dead or impressed that Quinna had killed her. It may not have been the last thing he had expected to hear, but it was pretty close. ÒHow did that happen?Ó he asked, making sure his voice did not carry any accusations tone. ÒShe grabbed me from the arcade. She was going to use me to ensure you complete your assignment. She went to lock me in a closet, and I grabbed her, swung her around. I think I surprised her. She stumbled and wellÉÓ Quinna trailed off.Michael was silent a moment longer then he pulled her into a huge hug. ÒAre you okay? And I donÕt mean physically harmed. You didnÕt become a doctor toÉ you know.Ó He was trying to tactful, but knew he wasnÕt being successful. ÒThere is more,Ó she said pulling herself away. ÒI found a data rod on her.Ó Quinna reached down to the beltline of her uniform and pulled out a data rod from the hidden pocket. (Because every Uniform needs a hidden pocket) She handed it to him. And she waited for a reply. He held the rod between his thumb and forefinger, twirling it around. Then he looked at Quinna with a half closed eye. ÒHow did you manage to keep it once you were ÒarrestedÓ?ÓQuinna laughed a bit. She had not realized that she had some tears falling from her eye, ÒActually before I was arrested, I planted it in TreiÕs boot. I made sure I had nothing on me that tied me to Fiona.Ó ÒDo you have any idea whatÕs on this?Ó he asked, wondering what Fiona would carry around with her that was so important.ÒNo. It is not for me but it is for you.. Though I have my thoughts, it could be what you have been wanting. What you deserve.ÓMichael looked at the rod with renewed interest, ÒShe told you it was for me?Ó But that was more for himself. Then he looked at Quinna, ÒAnd you didnÕt look at it out of respect for me? What about Trei, or Sekal?ÓÒWell she did not say much of anything. I searched her and found it.Ó Quinna said. ÒI donÕt think Trei looked at it. I am not sure about the Captain.ÓWeston chuckled at the thought of Trei discovering the rod and not knowing what to do with it. And she wanted to work with him in intelligence. A natural instinct should have been to either crack it open and have a look, or expect it to have a worm that would erase all the data if opened incorrectly, or by the wrong person. He took a deep sigh and smiled at Quinna, ÒWell thereÕs only one way to find out whatÕs on it. You curious?ÓÒI am, but this is for you.Ó Quinna's heart was still nervous, ÒI will be here only if you want me to be.Ó Quinna raised her hand and ran her fingers along his hairline. ÒI will do anything for you.Ó Quinna did not say more but also thought that she would also let him go.He looked at her expectant face, and gave a little chuckle, ÒI donÕt think I will need privacy for this. Besides, I have nothing to hide from you.ÓHe moved over to his computer and opened the access panel. He slipped the rod into its place and tapped the icon that isolated his computer from the rest of the ship. He didnÕt want anything unforeseen to happen because of his carelessness.Quinna moved behind Michael. She stood there quietly and waited for what they were going to find. Her hand rested on the back of MichaelÕs neck as she played with the hair on the back of his neck. She wondered what was on the data rod. Was it FionaÕs shopping list or Michaels proof for his freedom? ÒOK, so let's see what we have here.ÓMichael became a little distracted by QuinnaÕs flirtations but he plodded on. There were several layers of encryption on the data that he was going to have to wade through before getting what he really wanted. His curiosity was more than a little piqued. While they were looking Quinna brought up some idle conversation. ÒI was amazed you could find me when I was in the brig. But I knew if anyone could, it would be you. How did you find me so fast?ÓHis mind wasnÕt really on what she was saying as he dug into the coding of the rod and said, ÒOh, I always know where you are. I promised that I would keep you safe.ÓQuinna leaned over and gave him a kiss on the top of his head, ÒHoney, you are good, But I was taken to the dark recesses of the station. I guess it is not important but I would love to learn the secret on how you could keep track of me.Ó Quinna leaned closer to MichaelÕs ear, ÒMaybe I can interrogate you in my special way.ÓClearly she was going to test his ability to decode information with a distraction. ÒItÕs not really important,Ó he said, trying to maintain his focus on his work, Ò but it helps to have had you tagged by an isotope that only activated when you were out of my range for a specific length of time.ÓÒAhh.Ó Quinna stood up. ÒThat was a great idea to track us. You should have let us know that you were taking us so we could have kept track of each other. My Brilliant Spy.Ó Quinna went back to playing with the hair at the base of his neck and watching him do his work on the computer.Michael stopped for a moment, before he spoke. He wasnÕt sure how it would be taken if she were to know that she had been the only person he had tagged. Secrets. He had to admit he was getting a little tired of secrets. But was this the place to start? He decided not. ÒYes, well, I thought it best that people didnÕt know,Ó he said. ÒI wasnÕt sure how Commander Verin might react.Ó That wasnÕt actually an untruth. It just wasnÕt the entire truth.Suddenly there was a beep, and an image of Fiona came up on the screen. [Hello Michael, I knew youÕd be able to break my encoding. In fact, IÕm pretty sure youÕre one of the few who would. It should look familiar.]Quinna stopped what she was doing and placed her hand on MichaelÕs shoulder. She wanted to turn. She did not want to see her face. She wanted to show Michael that she was strong and could handle anything, but deep down, her stomach was turned in knots.[Attached to this are files that youÕve been looking for that are pertinent to your burn notice. Apparently you have created some lofty enemies over the years. ThatÕs what happens when youÕre good at what you do. Unfortunately you wonÕt be able to get those documents without the data rod that you received to fulfill your obligation to my employer. As you may have surmised there is a worm program that will infect the IlluminarÕs main computer. That worm will also unlock the same information that you desire. You have a choice make my dear sweet Michael. You know that I have your best interests at heart.]The image disappeared, leaving a blank screen and a blinking cursor that awaited a command.ÒAre you needing a passcode? Fiona said that Bradford was the one with the information. Could that work?Ó Quinna asked.Michael reached into his pocket and pulled out the data chip that Oaks had tossed to him moments before he tried to kill them all. He shook his head.ÒNo,Ó he said, Òthis is not something IÕm willing to gamble on.ÓHe reached into the panel of the computer to withdraw the rod. As he began to remove the rod a feedback loop sent a wave of electricity through his body, sending him flying from the station, leaving him laying on the floor, not moving.Quinna rushed to Michael's side. She felt for a pulse and could not find one. She started to pump on his chest followed by rescue breathing. This seemed to feel like forever until she got a pulse. She leaned over and kissed his forehead in relief. ÒYou are ok, love.Ó Michael lay flat on his back and began to laughed. He couldnÕt believe that heÕd been so stupid than to believe that Fiona wouldnÕt have built in some kind of failsafe on the data. ÒWe should get you to sickbay.Ó Quinna said as she started to examine the rest of his body. Time to check his cognitive skills, ÒCan you tell me your name?ÓMichael looked up at Quinna, who was looking very concerned. ÒMy name, Jeffrey.Ó He knew she was doing her job so he took it a little more seriously. ÒMichael Thomas Weston.ÓÒStardate?ÓHe frowned, ÒNot sure I could answer that question with any certainty under normal circumstances, but I believe itÕs 2446.02.22.ÓÒWhere are you at?Ó ÒIÕm on the floor, with someone who doesnÕt know to never finish a sentence with a preposition.ÓÒWho am I?Ó A broad smile spread across his face, ÒMy reason to keep going.ÓFinally he sat up and stretched his back and neck, ÒOuch. Fiona certainly knows how to say good-bye.Ó Quinna smiled. She looked at Michael. ÒYou seem to be ok, but I still want you on a biobed. That is the second major shock in your system in a month.Ó Quinna stood to help Michael to his feet. ÒSo she had an admission of your innocence on the data rod. That should help your case.Ó Quinna said.Michael gave her a naughty smile when she said she wanted him on a bed, but let it go. ÒIt would only do me any good if I had access to that information.ÓHe stood up, slowly, but his sense of equilibrium began to fail and he stumble to a wall. ÒSteady, Love, Steady,Ó Quinna moved to a position to help support Michael.Weston leaned on her slightly then gathered his balance and stood straight. ÒI need to get this chip to Sekal. IÕm pretty sure that theyÕre aware that I am not on board with their plans. I may have dug a hole that I wonÕt be able to climb out of. For the first time in a long time I have no idea what IÕm going to do next.ÓQuinna urged him to the couch, ÒFirst, let's sit. Then we can figure it out.Ó The two sat down, ÒTaking it to the Captain is a wise idea. He has always believed you, when others still do not.Ó Quina was still looking over Michael, she would take his pulse to make sure it was steady.Michael smiled weakly, ÒAny excuse to hold my hand.ÓÒSo when do you want to take it?Ó Quinna was ready to take the step with him. ÒYou have to get the information. We need to clear your name.ÓÒIÕll send him a message to meet, then itÕs up to his schedule,Ó Michael said with a sigh of resignation. ÒMeanwhile, IÕm suddenly feeling a little energized.ÓCupping her chin with his palm he stroked her cheek with his thumb, then pulled her towards him, kissing her lips, at first softly, then a little more vigorously. Alyl/ Ensign TÕShalaith - 1415)=^=Lieutenants Alyl, Lee and Solice, Lieutenant Commander Gregory, Commander Verin and Ensign T'shalaith to the Ready Room.=^=(Reply: Lee)T'shalaith had spent the walk and turbolift journey to contemplate on what was waiting for her in the Ready Room of the Captain. She hadnÕt been attentive to her station in the days previous until today. She hadnÕt spoken much to her Chief, or done much aside from reports, cursory bridge work. Logically she had not performed her duties to the expectations of anyone, including herself. It was in that moment the thought of being further demoted or even reassigned crossed from her forcefully controlled emotions into her logical discussion brain. She dismissed it out of hand as beyond the pale of illogical. It did give her pause as her mind worked at a frenetic pace - she needed to find a permanent solution to her condition and quickly. She stepped into the Ready Room and readied her PADD for note taking.Sekal motioned her to the couch. There was room for another there but no chairs remained. The meeting would not be a protracted one however, once all had arrived he would begin. Gregory had just come on duty, and was on the bridge checking in with Operations when the call came over his com badge. Tapping the device he replied, ÒAcknowledged.ÓWith a final word to McFry before heading to the ready room. Entering the room, he saw the Captain and three other figures. ÒYou called, Sir,Ó he said to the Captain. Sekal nodded from behind the desk. "Affirmative, I will wait until the rest have arrived before discussing the matter. At its essence it kindled an emotional outrage from the report I received." He motioned to the last remaining seat with T'shalaith, the others would be forced to stand.Jaton was in the lab, trying to get the department back to some semblance of normal when the call came in. He was still rather flustered from this morningÕs travails, but was trying to put them behind him. But something told him that wasnÕt about to happen now. ÒOn my way,Ó he said as he tapped his commbadge. He grabbed a couple of relevant PADDs just in case, and walked out of the office, headed for the turbolift. It took no more than 20 seconds or so for the little car to transport him to the bridge, but it felt like an eternity as he was stewing and going over this morning over and over. And as he walked into the room to be confronted with the captain along with Penn and Teller, he knew the reckoning was here.T'shalaith looked up as the Chief Science Officer walked in and felt her pulse elevate slightly before coming back to her resting rate. Given the reports she had read and what had filtered through the hallways, he had taken the brunt of the science issues. They would need to speak at some point she knew and it was logical. The tightly controlled emotional side of her was leaking slightly in her mind, and the thought of the uncomfortable discussion they would need to have forced her to recalibrate her control and inwardly meditate for ten seconds.~Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum,~ Jaton thought to himself, not daring to say it out loud. ÒReporting as ordered, sir.Ó There was a punch to that last word that Jaton added to express his anger and frustration with the pair.Teller motioned to Penn and said softly, ÒJim to Bart, about Rock Ridge. Moe to Shemp, his trophy ruined.Ó Penn nearly choked himself, swallowing his tongue in order to not laugh. He leaned over to Teller and whispered, ÒForrest Gump to Mrs. Blue.ÓT'shalaith shifted herself to stand slightly behind him and gave him a slight nod. Logically it would assist to see the two science officers at least standing together. She had studied the human predictions with body language and who sat or stood with who to the point where she had to remind herself that to the humans and other aliens these things mattered far more than most other things. Illogical, she castigated them in her mind, while allowing that those emotions, for some reason, seemed to serve them in saving the worlds and universes many times over in history. She decided not to speak. She was unsure of how the captain would deliver whatever version of discussion and justice he thought necessary. T'shalaith waited for the next moment. Quinna entered the conference room. She looked around and she was definitely not the first, but she was not the last. She noticed that her normal seat was open and she was quick to take it. She sat and waited. Gregory looked around, leaning casually against the bulkhead. He nodded to Quinna as she walked in, before itching the healing burn on his palm. Quinna noticed that Gregory was there. She had read something and noted that she needed to talk to him as soon as they were done.Sienna had been near engineering when the summons had arrived, so it took her longer to reach the ready room than it had taken the others. Looking around the room, she nodded to everyone, then moved to stand behind and to the right of SekalÕs chair, backing him up literally and figuratively.Penn leaned over to Teller and said in his ear, ÒHawkeye, Mulcahey and Hotlips with the jeep.ÓTeller nodded. ÒBJ to Hollister, on Mulcahy.ÓÒI think that we should ask Mr. Laredo to attend as well,Ó the FO said, Ósince some of what has occurred has upset Luma.Ó Sienna spoke calmly and quietly, the words weighted with authority that came easily to her when she was working. ÒAnd there is something that Luma is insisting on and I donÕt know how to answer her. She claims that one of our security crew members was in the lab and is now justÉ gone. I can find no mention of the crew member, Larry Day, in any of the records and no one else seems to remember him but Luma.Ó Sienna leaned against the wall comfortably. Why werenÕt they doing this in the conference room? The ready room was big but it was going to be cramped once everyone had reported in.Teller listened to what the woman said and whispered to Penn. ÒEgon on crossing the streams. Stantz to Venkman and Egon. Finkelstein on the black hole. Hawkings. The Keer solution,Ó he said excitedly. The Captain looked to his right. "What is this of a missing crewman? I had not been informed of it." ÒI just found out this morning and was trying to figure out what she was unhappy about. ThatÕs why I was in engineering, attempting to figure out if our data banks had been tampered with, but Mr. Bohb says no traces. I was working on a report for you after I hear back from Mars to see if they have any records of Mr. Day. Luma says he was fairly popular, and that his nickname was Lucky.Ó Sy turned towards Mr. Lee, ÒWhat do you know about this, Mr. Lee? Why did you send security into a secure lab to search it? And,Ó Sienna was very displeased about this, ÒWhy would you attempt to search their quarters without authorization?Ó(Reply: Lee)The Captain tapped his comm. "Mr. Laredo report to the Ready Room."An obviously surprised voice answered, =^=Oh, uhh, on my way.=^= The connection broke audibly. Sienna tried to cover her smile.Sekal stood to his feet, the Ready Room was indeed becoming crowded. "While we are waiting for Luma's mind bondmate to arrive, I will begin with the reason for summoning you here and I will be brief."He looked about at the assembled officers and it would be logical if none of them would be satisfied with his conclusions. "We had an incident in a science lab that I neither condone nor defend. At the same time the ones who precipitated it were brought aboard with my approval. It is logical to note that I did not ensure proper communication within the science department nor facilitate a reporting procedure upon their arrival. In this then I accept responsibility for the chaotic events of yesterday."Sienna had read a report, heard from Luma on her opinion on the matter, and had been planning a talk with the two scientists. She was very pleased that the Captain was dealing with the matter, however. She continued listening as people talked.Gregory continued to lean against the wall, taking in the actions of the Captain and First Officer. Clearly he missed some happenings, so heÕd have to read the reports when this was finished. At some point, he should go speak to these two. Learn a bit more about them and their research. He waited until the discussion had wound down. "I have spoken with the scientists and it has been clearly stated how they will operate from this moment forward and if they wish to continue their experiments aboard this vessel they will adhere to them." His gaze raked across the two before settling on the CSO Jaton Alyl. "You will receive daily reports from them on their researches and those reports will be reviewed by the command crew in addition. If there is an interruption in those reports it will be your responsibility to investigate the matter. All avenues of investigation by them will be weighed to determine if further safety measures are required according to the statutes of your commission and I expect you to exercise your authority."Begrudgingly, Jaton nodded. ÒUnderstood, sir,Ó he grumbled. He looked to Lieutenant Lee and his glance included the CSO. "The lab they have been using will be turned back over to their use, any equipment removed will be promptly returned without delay and in working order. Should you wish to oversee the matter personally which I recommend then this should be your first priority."Jaton stood forward. ÒSir, I must wholeheartedly protest. IÐÓTeller looked at Jaton, ÒChenza at court, the court of silence. Kadir beneath Mo Moteh. Raymond Stantz to the Mayor. Venkman to the Mayor.ÒPenn shook his head, Ò No, Bart, the sheriff Bart, with Mongo.ÓSekalÕs stony gaze included all who had been involved in the reported fracas. "I will neither delve into nor dredge up earlier events including the meeting you were involved in. I expect those participating to work together in the future. The experiment causing the issue is currently at an all stop and their findings will be transmitted to Mars for independent verification. In addition they are going to be releasing notes upon another line of inquiry as per proper procedures which will be available to any others here who are inquisitive."His eyes settled on Penn and Teller. "If there is a repeat of the issue you will not be continuing your investigations here."Teller nodded, ÒDarmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Sokath, his eyes opened. Temba, his arms wide. Mirab, with sails unfurled.Ó ÒIndeed,Ó Penn agreed. ÒNow that the parameters have been set there shall be no further brooks to protocols.ÓÒCaptain, if I might?Ó Sienna spoke, and at his nod, continued. ÒEnsign Stennin was brought aboard as head of research, but had to return to Vulcan. Perhaps it would be helpful to continue to split the duties between Ensign TÕshalaith and Mr. Alyl like they were between Stennin and Alyl?ÓHe gave a small movement of his shoulders which could have been a shrug. "That is a possibility which I have and will continue to consider and depends on a number of factors. Penn and Teller's experiments would logically fall under the purvue of research and development and if that department is reinstated the responsibility of their oversight will fall there."TÕshalaith had been making copious notes on her PADD. The mention of heading of research gave her a momentary pause. She found completeness in research and knew her abilities and talents would bring significant benefit to such a situation. She made a mark in the notes to discuss it at a later date with those who would need to be included. He noted that Temas had entered. "Thank you for coming Mr. Laredo. Please explain why a crewman no one knows about has disappeared from one of our science labs."Temas froze at the question. This was something that had plagued him since Luma had started in about it. His mind raced through the memory of Luma screaming in his mind, ~HeÕs gone. He was there now heÕs not.~ÒI canÕt really explain it, Captain,Ó Laredo said. ÒLuma keeps talking about this man, Larry Day, but there is no record of there having been a Larry Day on the ship. IÕve inquired all the way back to the Academy, and they have no record of a Larry Day. IÕve been searching for any kind of evidence that there has ever been a Larry ÔLuckyÕ Day that has ever been in existence. But Luma is certain of her knowledge. IÉ feel her loss at his missing.ÓThe Vulcan took only an instant to consider the matter. "Perhaps Ms. T'shalaith should investigate this matter, please relay everything Luma knows to her for a follow-up."Temas shrugged and turned to the Vulcan, ÒI will happily share all I have with you Ensign. It isnÕt much. Mostly a lot of people saying that theyÕve never heard of Mr. Day.ÓTÕshalaith gave a slight nod, ÒI am certain an answer lies somewhere between what Luma says and what we appear to know. There are a great many things in this universe that resist logical explanation. I will endeavor to discover an answer.Ó She was curious to examine the dynamic with Temas and Luma as a side benefit to the objective. The sense of Luma being present had followed Temas in, and everyone who was not a psi-null would experience it. A heaviness to the air, a sense that someone was watching. =^= Our Sekal will tell the misbehaving small ones that they are no longer allowed to harm the skin. It hurt when they decided to shoot the wall. No more make the hurties!=^= She declared, not touching the other issue just yet."That issue has already been adequately addressed Luma, there will be no repeat of the incident." The Captain assured her.ÒBarny Fife with a bullet. Harry Callahan to the punk. Children of Tam. Elmo, the muppet, at Christmas. Binx to Billie Jean. Binx to Ophelia,Ó he concluded.ÒHedley Lamar to Taggert about Rockridge,Ó Penn added. In her emotional turmoil that was tightly controlled TÕshalaith felt the urge to physically harm the inane scientists. Had she been human, she might have followed through with the urge. Instead, she practiced a few careful breaths to center her control once more. The urge faded. She returned her attention to the ongoing meeting at hand.As hard as Temas tried he was not able to shield assaultive sensations coming from TÕshalaith. He gave her a serious look trying to determine what the difficulty was. This was something he would need to pursue later. ÒWhy donÕt I come to your office when youÕre ready, Ensign.ÓThe assistant science chief saved the notes on her PADD and examined her schedule, ÒI will send you my available times within the next 72 hours.ÓTemas smiled and nodded, returning his attention to the captain. Sekal then sat down. "You have your assignments. Dismissed."TÕshalaith gave a nod and exited the Ready Room heading for her office. She suspected her Chief would visit with her soon enough.Sienna nodded and moved from her perch behind the Captain. She had kept an eye on the vulcan in science, and she would need to have a talk with her own mate about how best to support TÕShalaith. She headed to the door after everyone else had left, pausing before she did, ÒWe need to tell both Ensign TÕShalaith and the Doctors about Luma and her abilities. Why she is able to sense things no one else can. I need permission to brief them since their security clearances are not of a sufficient level for that information normally.Ó"Permission granted." With that out of the way it was time to turn operations over to her for the day. He stood to his feet. "I will be in my quarters after eating. You may take the ship to Risa when all is in readiness." He moved for the door. She nodded, standing aside, ÒAye, Sir. Have a good meal.Ó She looked around the ready room for a moment, to make sure that the large group of people had not left anything behind. Finding that all was well, she exited and headed towards the command chair, taking the seat.(Reply: Any, none)(Posted byCharles G. - SekalMelinda G - SiennaTim B. - DieterKris B. - QuinnaAl M. - TemasSpencer O - JatonAaron D. - T'shalaith)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>USS Illuminar - Deck 1 - Ready Room - Chief of Security Lt (jn) Keung Lee. 1420=^=Lieutenants Alyl, Lee and Solice, Lieutenant Commander Gregory, Commander Verin and Ensign T'shalaith to the Ready Room.=^==^=On my way=^= responded Lee who wondered what the meeting was about as he grabbed his Padd. Was it anything to do with Drs Penn and Teller? The response to LumaÕs upsets. Upon arrival at the Ready Room, he noticed the place was fairly crowded and any chairs had been taken up. There was space on the couch which sat ensign TÕShallaith. Penn and Teller were there as well.Lee stood up. He was surprised to hear that a security officer, Larry Day was missing. Lee knew everyone in his department but he never heard of such a person called Larry Day never mind his nickname Ð Larry. He had ordered a security team to the lab where Penn and Teller had worked following the phaser incident but whoever this Larry Day wasnÕt part of the search team. Lee once again explained about the incident involving Penn and Teller, restraining them in their quarters because they were a potential threat to the safety of the ship with their experiments. He further explained that had sent a team to the lab to investigate what the scientists were up to. ÒI wasnÕt aware that I needed authorisation particularly this was a security issue and we are at yellow alert.Ó Finished what he said as he stared at the two scientists, he sat down again. Under warp, there wasnÕt much to do, other than monitor incoming signals and make sure the scans were clean. It had been an eventful day, from the data he discovered, a burn to his hand, the meeting with the two scientists and the star map data. It had been hidden and there is no way that was a coincidence. He also learned that orb fragments didnÕt like to be probed. He was going to have to find a new way to get the data. The words on the locket intrigued him, Serendipity is often pregnant passion. It was incomprehensible, made no sense. The fragment, as best as they could determine, was part of the Orb of Contemplation. On top of that, there were strange markings. Not letters or script, but what could best be described as periods, commas and accent marks. The computer could find no mention or reference to marks like this, especially in relation to the Bajoran language. His search came up with one name, Doctor Jiso Telrea, a researcher in the Bajoran Archeological Institute, who might have some more information. She was a specialist in the ancient dialects. He had sent her a message and hoped he could talk to her more. He still had a few hours before gamma shift would come on, so he checked the lab usage again, reserving the lab from last night for his continued exploration of the locket and key. Accessing his private records, he inputted some new parameters into the system, and let his program run. While the computing power on the ship was excellent, augmented by the power of Luma, these calculations required a recursive logic to explore different pathways and eliminate those that were not productive. With the clue in the star field as a basis, that gave him an endpoint, or how he hoped so. 2446.02.23>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(USS Illuminar - Deck 6 - Science Lab 1 - 2/O LCDR Dieter Gregory - 0300)Gregory had grabbed a quick bit to eat, with some extra caffeine included. He considered waking Dr. Solice for a stimulant, but was pretty sure sheÕd not oblige him. Rightly so. After yesterdayÕs unanticipated result with the scanning probe microscope, he had moved to more circumspect ways to measure the locket. He had measured the raman scattering spectroscopy patterns as well as circular dichroism spectroscopy patterns. The locket displayed very odd characteristics in both. He had tried to access the data on Orbs to see what the BajorianÕs might have on their orbs. He also accessed the data that was generated when the alternate universe orb was discovered. However, the Bajoran data was not available to him. He sent a formal request to the Archivist of the Vedik Council. He hoped that she would allow him access while on Bajor. It seemed every chance to probe the locket was limited in the data he was generating. He really wanted to put it into the atom probe microscope, but after the scanning probe, he didnÕt want to risk it. He did have an idea of transporting the locket, and holding it in the buffer to get more information, but not sure that would be the best idea. There was no clear information how that would effect it, and when Dr. Solice had been transported, the locket would have been closed. He made more notes as the data continued to flow into his programs. He closed his eyes for just a minute. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(USS Illuminar - Deck 6 - Science Lab 1 - 2/O LCDR Dieter Gregory - 0500)The computer beeped, indicating it had finished the calculations. GregoryÕs head snapped forward as he struggled to wake up. Blinking his eyes, he shook the cobwebs from his brain. ÒComputer, display results.ÓDieter walked to the table, and stood by the controls. Manipulating the images, he explored the data. His line tracing on the connection between key and locket, the orb fragment did clutter some of the data, but there was no way around it. He got lost in studying the data and patterns. Yawning, he decided he would need some sleep, and there would be science department people soon. He secured his files and retrieved the items. Releasing his lock on the door, he returned to his room, securing the locket and key within. He dashed off a quick note to Quinna, letting her know he had found some things that they needed to talk about. That done, he fell onto his bunk and was asleep in minutes.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2446.02.26>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> (USS Illuminar - Deck 3- Captain's Quarters - CO - Captain Sekal - 0320)His eyes opened as the tone sounded for the third time then used his hand to cradle T'laya as he turned his head. T'shalaith sat on the couch, staring down the holographic creation of her father. She was dressed in her sleeping uniform, her hair widely unkempt, and her nails were being bitten softly by her teeth.ÒYou activated me an hour ago, daughter. You have not spoken.Ó The programmed figure cocked his head to the side, ÒYouÕve disabled my access to read your vitals.ÓT'shalaith nearly growled. She instead chose to stare into his hazy eyes. They had arrived in the system earlier in the morning hours and they now orbited the pleasure planet of Risa. She had awoken two hours previous and paced the space of her living room until in a fit of frustration activated SathÕs program. Now she sat curled on the couch, staring at her father and unable to find the words to speak.ÒIt is unbearable to be unable to truly see you, daughter.ÓThe assistant chief science officer tapped the console controls next to her and her fatherÕs trademark thin smile returned. She returned to staring at him.ÒAh, yes. There we are once more.Ó He cocked his head to the other side as he looked at her. His actions were a part of his programming and were accurate with a small percentage of deviation. ÒYou are alarmed, T'shalaith. I have not sensed this in you in...quite some time.ÓShe remained in the staring position.ÒYou are concerned about stepping onto the planet below.ÓShe broke her silence, ÒWould you not have the same concerns? A pleasure planet is illogical, inappropriate, and at odds with the rational reasoning of my mind and my people.ÓSath placed his hands behind his back, ÒDaughter, Risa has many...diversions for our people.ÓShe stood, in shock as she shook her head, ÒYou cannot be serious.ÓÒYou have not bonded. You...have missed out on elements of life and mates that are essential to living.ÓÒI am quite accepting of my current state of living, father.ÓA smirk from the hologram, ÒThat state has an expiration date, T'shalaith. You must resolve your bondmate matter.Ó He paused and shrugged, ÒRisa would be a place for you to explore the possibilities of what exists in the universe for you...and for our people.ÓÒI do not enjoy talking about exploring possibilities with my father.Ó She returned to stare at him, but he did not react. Her mother, very much alive and adrift in the universe somewhere, was dead to him. Emotions had taken her to a life of a vagabond, and even in holographic programming, her fatherÕs refusal to accept her wayward ways remained steadfast.ÒIt does not bother me.Ó He looked up for a moment, ÒI do not think it would have bothered me in life either, daughter. You will find a bondmate. And you will find balance. And possibilities.ÓÒComputer save and end program.Ó As he faded, SathÕs hand formed into a Live Long and Prosper gesture.
