If you need sleep, we can apprise you of stuff in the morning. As much as it is important for you to be involved at this stage in the game, it's also important that you stay healthy and in tip top shape." Ailynn shrugged. “I’m tired, I ache, and I just want sleep, but I’m good to keep on at the moment.” She gave her old friend a weary, but generally content smile "Look, the moment you feel like you physically can't handle anymore, I want you to clock out, is that understood." Nodding, Ailynn answered. “I will. As I said, I’m good at the moment, but I’ll not overstretch.” "In the meantime, why don't you and commander Ravok oversee the forensics team." “Understood.” She replied simply, then moved toward Ravok, and began talking to him, to begin once again the task of forensic analysis. This time would be easier thankfully, it was a simple matter of evidence gathering to confirm what they already knew, rather than building a picture from scratch. (Reply none needed) (USS Exeter – Counselling Offices – Transporter Chief Rayan Anra – 2339) Having been in sickbay for a mild allergic reaction to some fruit juice that had made his spots itch, he had decided to head back to his quarters. Walking past the counselling suite, Rayan glance into the waiting room as he walked past and stopped. ~now there's a look I have seen too many times on my own face and others ~ He thought as he glanced at the young woman who had obviously been through something. Walking in, he sat nearby her and smiled softly, "Good evening Ensign. " (Reply Hammersfield) "Rayan.. Rayan Anra. Transporter chief. " he replied with a slight smile. (Reply Hammersfield) "Good to meet you, Ensign. Look, if I am bugging you, tell me to go away. I can tell you have been through something. Thiugjt you might like some company whilst you waited." (Reply Hammersfield) (USS Exeter – Sickbay - MedIntern aEns Lana Wakeman - 23:40 ) “ This is very important. Please try and remember what Ensign Green was mumbling about...” He said slowly to her. Lana looked up, her face puzzled, her voice demure and deferring. “Now let me think. It was so strange. Now you’ve asked I can.” Her brow furrowed. “Something like… ‘Incompetant, have i got to do it all myself?’ Which was a bit upsetting at the time, because I thought that she was talking about me...Now though…” She looked at T’Kel. (Reply More) “It’s exactly how she said it, word for word. It was mumbled so I couldn’t tell a tone, you know. I guess I put it out of my mind because it upset me a bit at first.” (Reply More) “Oh deary me…” Lana covered her mouth. “You think she had something to do with all this, don’t you…” she dabbed at her eyes, and waved a hand in front of her face. ( Reply More ) (USS Exeter – Counselling Offices – Ensign Janice Hammerfield – 2340) "Good evening Ensign. " "Hmm...” Janice looked up from the seat she had been put in, “Oh – yes. Good evening,” "Rayan.. Rayan Anra. Transporter chief. " he replied with a slight smile. Janice Hammerfield – I don’t think we have me.” She held out her hand to sake his then looked at the green and red stained to them. Only now had it really dawned on her that she should probably wash it off. Dropping her hand quickly before the gesture could be returned she slid them under her legs. "Good to meet you, Ensign. Look, if I am bugging you, tell me to go away. I can tell you have been through something. Thought you might like some company whilst you waited." "Thanks,” she gave a nod back and silently for a moment looking at the ground. It got to the point where it was almost awkward when she looked back up at him, “You know the transporters?” (Reply Anra) “Well, what do you think when you see the people there and then in the next moment they are not?” (Reply Anra) (USS Exeter – Sickbay - Tac/Sec Ens.(Sg) Stan More - 23:41 ) Stan was becoming more worried as he listened to Wakeman.Especially after his recent talk with T’Kel. “ I see....” Stan looked towards K’Kel. His mind working things over. One phrase kept rolling around in his head. ~ she made us~ Could Green be she? “It’s exactly how she said it, word for word. It was mumbled so I couldn’t tell a tone, you know. I guess I put it out of my mind because it upset me a bit at first.” “ So she was not herself? “ Stan asked gently “Oh deary me…” Lana covered her mouth. “You think she had something to do with all this, don’t you…” she dabbed at her eyes, and waved a hand in front of her face. Stan could see she was upset. He guided her over to a free bio bed. “ Have a wee sit down here on this bio bed lassie. Don’t yer worry. I am sure there is a perfectly good explanation.” He gently told her. Then Stan moved away. Making sure he was out of ear shot. He tapped his comm badge. “ More to Ensigns Nash and Hall. Code yellow in sickbay. But no phaser rifles.” More said. He then asked a medic for three hypo sprays filled with a powerful knockout solution. Once they arrived he gave them a hypo spray. Then told them to hide themselves. “ Ensign Green has just become a person of interest. I am going to try and lure them here. If this works and she shows the slightest signs of violence. Hit her with a hypo. But only one.” Stan said “ Why can’t we just phaser stun her?” Nash asked “ To many innocent people around. We don’t want collateral damage.” Stan said “ Then why don’t we leave sickbay and use a safer location?” Hall asked “ We can make use of the quarantine force field. Once she is strapped down and behind one. There’s nay way she’ll escape.” He said Once they were hidden. Stan walked back to Wakeman. “ Now lassie. I need yer help. Could you convince your friend Ensign Green to come down here to Sickbay please ?” He asked. ( Reply , Wakeman ) (USS Exeter – Counselling Offices – Transporter Chief Rayan Anra – 2342) "Thanks,” she paused for a moment, 'You know the transporters?” Anra smiled softly, "I would hope so. It is my job after all." He winked. “Well, what do you think when you see the people there and then in the next moment they are not?” Taking a breath, he thought for a moment, "If you would have asked Kyren, my first host, she would have said that it was magic. I've lived 6 lifetimes, seven if you count this one. Thankfully, each host has furthered my understanding of the world and the science behind it." (Reply Hammersfield) "For example, I have seen that look on your face more times then I can count and have worn it myself many more. You are doing the right thing by talking to someone. " (Reply Hammersfield) (Reply Hammersfield) (Posted by Jackie) (USS Exeter – Science Labs – CTO/3O Lieutenant Ravok – 2343) Forensics had analyzed the residual biological matter of the suspect and attacker. The identity thus far had been confirmed to be Ensign Thorn. Forensics was now working to examine the scene to recreate the reports given by Ensign Hammerfield and Ensign T'kel. Ravok and Commander Bracken were watching over things carefully. Ravok was impressed with Bracken's manner of analyzing the details of the room. She had not spoken a word yet the look on her face looked like she had just composed a symphony of intellectual power in her mind. He could tell this woman was beyond exhausted, yet she didn't display a single moment of not being alert to the activities of the forensics team. Suddenly an alert was sent to his wrist mounted communications device. ~ Isolated code yellow in sickbay? ~ He thought and looked around the room. ~ Oh S#!+ Stan !~ He screamed in his mind. He turned to commander Bracken, stepping closer to her. " Sir, We have a security code yellow in sickbay. " He said quietly to her. ( reply Bracken) " I can go check it out. While you remain here and watch forensics wrap this scene up. Your call, but if there is a problem I feel better going myself and keeping you out of harm's way. " ( reply Bracken) (USS Exeter – Science Labs – FO Cmdr Ailynn Bracken – 2344) " Sir, We have a security code yellow in sickbay. " He said quietly to her. Ailynn nodded. “What do you need?” Ailynn was quite fond of Ravok as an Officer, and indeed, a person. He had the rare talent of not feeling the need to fill a silence with inane conversation. ‘So...Crazy day huh?’ breaking a silence, breaking the admittedly scattergun train of thought made her want to exsanguinate someone. " I can go check it out. While you remain here and watch forensics wrap this scene up. Your call, but if there is a problem I feel better going myself and keeping you out of harm's way. " She shook her head as certain things in the room caught her attention. “No, you’re right, that’s fine. Sort sickbay out.” She smiled and nodded a simple dismissal, telling him that she had control of things. She watched as the forensics team tiptoed around the room taking samples, readings and slowly painting a picture. Across the room, she saw something that immediately annoyed her. “Ensign...We are not in the starlight lounge whisking a meringue.” The young Ensign clenched his eyes, knowing that he’d been caught out for sloppy processing. It was said by a large number of people, Ailynn herself to be fair, that Commander Bracken was a horrible horrible teacher, as much as she tried to relax, she always found fault, and picked up on every tiny little thing. The irony was, of course, that anyone working a shift with her “Bloody well upped their game” Ailynn stepped over to the young Ensign, who was using a Tricorder to take sweeps of the deceased’s ashed remnants. She knelt down and held the Ensigns hand. He noticed that the Commander’s fingers were long, delicate, and cool to the touch, but surprisingly immensely strong as she corrected his grip on the Tricorder sensor. “Slow...steady...precise movements, you are not painting the shed.” “Yes Commander. Sorry.” Commander Bracken’s voice was gentle, but there was a deep seated devotion to her duty and training that he could see was tempered into her soul. “Remember it’s still a body, a person’s remains, and deserves the appropriate veneration. You will neither disrespect it, nor judge it. That...is not...our...job.” The Young Ensign never forgot those simple, few words. Sure, The Commander was indeed, an awful teacher, but her nature, and her reputation for absolute exactitude forced everyone around her to ‘bring their A-game.’ Even well into his 90s, decades and a world of experience later, he never looked at a Tricorder without thinking of her, and of meringue. He went to his grave, considering himself having led a good life, serving. He’d smiled as he remembered Bracken’s absolute devoted nature, a furious sense of ‘doing things right’, but in that one moment, he’d seen glimpses to the woman beneath, and saw her for the truly gentle soul that she was. ( reply none) (USS Exeter – Sickbay CMO’s Office – ACMO – Ensign Dural Methor DrPH – 2345) Dural sat in the office keeping up with the latest in Starfleet medical procedures, reading from his own PADD. A blinking yellow light on the desk caught his eye. He put his PADD down to get a look at the blinking light. ~Code Yellow? That’s what we call for a violent patient and I would have seen that, or heard it.~ He placed his PADD down and went out into the main bay to see what was amiss. “What’s going on here? Why the code yellow? As there is obviously not a violent person here, not yet. I will ask once, what is going on?” Dural spoke his voice raised for the first time since taking the job here on the Exeter. (Reply Wakeman, More) (USS Exeter – Sickbay – MedIntern aEns Lana Wakeman – 2345) “What’s going on here? Why the code yellow? As there is obviously not a violent person here, not yet. I will ask once, what is going on?” Lana drew her breath, she'd not seen Dr Methor this annoyed before. Dr Bracken, though Command now, had a bit of a reputation for a short temper while working as a medical with extremely high standards and an inability to suffer fools gladly. Dr Methor, though his standards were no less precise, was normally a lot more even tempered. "Doctor. It's come to light that someone was in here asking about Ensign T'kel. However it was before he came in. Ensign More thinks Ensign Green is a person of interest. He's requested some hyposprays of an anaesthetic, that these medics here have seemingly authorised." She motioned to the three holding hyposprays. (Reply Methor) "Sir, its understood that this is in relation to the attack of Ensign K'tel, however the attacker killed him or herself." (Reply Methor) (USS Exeter – Sickbay - Tac/Sec Ens.(Sg) Stan More - 23:46 ) Stan had made a mistake. In his rush to get backup he had used the wrong alert code. But then again had he? If T’Kel was in danger. Better to have everyone alert and safe. Rather then no alert and innocent people being hurt. Now he had to explain this. The problem was he was not good at that. He knew that Ravok would no doubt be using his name as a swear word. He did not even wish to entertain what Commander Trip would be saying. But in time he hoped they would understand. “What’s going on here? Why the code yellow? As there is obviously not a violent person here, not yet. I will ask once, what is going on?” Dural spoke his voice raised for the first time since taking the job here on the Exeter. How do you speak to someone diplomatically? The last time Stan had tried. It cost him the ACTO spot , a good telling off from the Captain and therapy. He gave a deep breath and silently counting to ten before speaking. Luckily Wakeman had been speaking with the angry Methor. “ Were you able to complete that task I asked you to do?” He asked Wakeman. ( Reply , Wakeman ) “ I am very sorry Doctor. It is my belief that Ensign T’Kel could be in extreme danger here in sickbay. I understand my calling the wee yellow alert code was extreme. But sir we are dealing with people. Who will happily hurt innocent bystanders to get to their target. I am just trying to protect yer patients sir. I did not mean to alarm ye.” He explained. ( Reply , Methor ) (USS Exeter – Sickbay – ACMO – Ensign Dural Methor DrPH – 2350) "Doctor. “Three vials of medication, that didn’t go through me? Those aren’t authorized. Place the hyposprays on the biobed.” Dural ordered. The three medics obeyed the order of their Officer currently in charge. The Cardassian examined one of the devices noticing they were all filled with the same type of liquid. ~Anestizine.~ "Why?” Dural asked. Often times determining the course of events could be expedited by determining the why. "Sir, its understood that this is in relation to the attack of Ensign K'tel, however the attacker killed him or herself." ~That still doesn’t explain why three separate medics had hyposprays full of controlled substances.~ The Cardassian’s eyes narrowed, he held up one finger in her direction. He was not pleased. “Miss Wakeman, I’ll deal with you all in a moment. In the meantime, go nowhere.” (Reply Wakeman) The security Ensign paused. Then spoke to Wakeman, “ Were you able to complete that task I asked you to do?” “Do not answer that question.” Dural interrupted. “ I am very sorry Doctor. “That explains the alarm,” Dural admitted, “It was you that triggered it? Why was it that the ranking officer in sickbay, I was not consulted while you were on your way here? If you believed my patients or anyone here were in danger, perhaps a warning? What if this danger made it here before your clandestine approach?” (Reply More) “I’m not finished,” the Cardassian warned. “Your second mistake was attempting to withdraw controlled substances without the order of a physician. There’s a reason for these restrictions. Medical professionals go through a great deal of training and hands on experience to be able to safely administer these medications. What happens if the dose is too high and your suspect stops breathing? The three vials were procured but none of the counter agent. No antihistamine or epinephrine incase of allergy. Do you know if your target is allergic to this medication that you had planned to give? It’s customary to ask before administering, but that would give away your surprise and spoil your trap. Please tell me you haven’t gone digging into their medical file or shall I add that to your list of transgressions?” (Reply More) “This sickbay and everything contained there in is a place of healing, and if I can I shall keep all manner or violence outside of it. This includes you and your security detail at this time. Post outside of it’s entrances and exits. Do your job and keep the violence outside.” Dural said. “While you are out there, if you happen to see Lieutenant Ravok, let him know I’d like to speak to him. I suspect your unplanned alert has him headed this way.” (Reply More) Once the security left the sickbay the Cardassian turned to the medics and the intern. “Come on out.” (Reply Wakeman) The medics came out. It was times like this where everything could have gone horribly wrong but didn’t, Dural wished he had some kind of higher being to thank for such fortune. He shook his head out of frustration. “ Chut hit’Kjet?” He mumbled too low for the universal translator to pick up. “I didn’t think I’d have to say this, but from this point forward, no medications are taken from storage, replicated or even looked at with out a physician’s say so, and especially not at the behest of someone from outside of the department. Is that understood?” Dural growled. (Reply Wakeman) “As your recompense the lot of you shall inventory all of sickbay from top to bottom to ensure that no medications have gone missing. You will begin at the end of your current shift, you will be released once I have confirmed you are finished. Unless you’d like to head over to the Judge Advocate seeking counsel? We can write you up on formal charges. I’d prefer to keep your punishment and rehabilitation administrative if I can.” Dural said. (Reply Wakeman) “Yes, sir!” The medics said. Dural turned to Wakeman specifically. “I’m keeping these hypos in the office. You are in charge of the inventory, these are your crew, assign them as you see fit. You are an acting officer, I’m going to treat you like one. Come see me once you’ve completed the inventory up to the point where you need the hypos.” (Reply Wakeman, More) (USS Exeter – Sickbay – Tac/Sec Ens.(sg) Stan More -23:51 ) Methor was not happy with Stan. “That explains the alarm,” Dural admitted, “It was you that triggered it? Why was it that the ranking officer in sickbay, I was not consulted while you were on your way here? If you believed my patients or anyone here were in danger, perhaps a warning? What if this danger made it here before your clandestine approach?” “ My apologies Doctor. I did not mean any....” Stan began, “I’m not finished,” the Cardassian warned. “Your second mistake was attempting to withdraw controlled substances without the order of a physician. There’s a reason for these restrictions. Medical professionals go through a great deal of training and hands on experience to be able to safely administer these medications. But sir....” He said “This sickbay and everything contained there in is a place of healing, and if I can I shall keep all manner or violence outside of it. This includes you and your security detail at this time. Post outside of it’s entrances and exits. Do your job and keep the violence outside.” Dural said. “While you are out there, if you happen to see Lieutenant Ravok, let him know I’d like to speak to him. I suspect your unplanned alert has him headed this way.” “ Off course sir. Guys let’s go.” Stan said giving the Doctor a polite nod. ( USS Exeter - Corridor outside sickbay - Tac/Sec Ens.(Sg) Stan More - 23:54 ) Once outside sickbay. Stan positioned his officers around the corridor. Making sure their hand phasers were all set to stun. Then he walked around the corner. After making sure he was alone. His smiled. ~ Thankyou Doctor Methor for doing your job. You beautiful man! ~ Stan thought. Once this was over he would treat the good doc to a bottle of Kanar. More knew that with the Captains lockdown and Ravok’s orders. There was no way he could leave sickbay. Unless ordered to by the Doctor in charge. Stan of course should of asked first about the hypo sprays. Before taking them. But he needed Methor angry. K’Tal was safe in sickbay after Stan’s mistake. With a yellow alert and an obvious attempt to trap Green. If she was one of the killers. Sickbay would be the last place to show up. But Stan had been worried about Wakeman. Her life would be in danger. If she left sickbay. That was why he had asked her in front of the Doctor about the task. No doubt now she would not be allowed out of sickbay. Plus her actions would be watched. So she was safe. Now he had to find this Ensign Green. ( Reply , none ) (USS Exeter – Sickbay - MedIntern aEns Lana Wakeman - 23:55 ) “ Now lassie. I need yer help. Could you convince your friend Ensign Green to come down here to Sickbay please ?” He asked. “I’ll try, of course.” Lana said, her voice quivering slightly with nerves. She turned to the attending medics. “You three, only use that if you really have to. You do not go happy-ass dispensing that stuff for fun.” She then turned to Stan and smiled gently. “ here we go.” Lana smiled gently as she tapped her commbadge, “Ensign Green please report immediately to sickbay, an unusual artifact has been found on your last round of scans and we need you to come in to discuss our findings. Who had no more morals or cares. As yet he had no concrete proof Green was involved. But a cautious man lived longer. He had picked alpha teams finest. Slowly they approached Greens door. Stan gave a signal to spread out. Then he pressed the door chime. There was no answer. He pressed it again. Nothing. There were two options. One Green was not in there or two she was waiting to attack. A tricorder scan picked up no life signs inside. But Stan was still cautious when they unlocked the door. There could be booby traps. The doors opened onto a tidy well kept room. Slowly they moved forward. Then Stan felt a transporter beam envelop him! “ What the......” He said as he vanished. (USS Exeter – Personnel Quarters – 00.02) After having finished his donut, Jorash returned to his quarters. He had a late night the night before, so he was looking forward to getting into bed and sleeping. However as he walked into his room, partially illuminated with an unexpected visitor sitting in an armchair, he knew his rest would not come soon. "What are you doing here?" Bult asked nervously. "Tying up loose ends." The figure said with little to no emotions. "Rumor has it Thorn is dead. Was it you?" "Maybe, I guess you could say that. He was following directions." "This isn't you, isn't your voice..." "No it's not, but I haven't been me lately. Not for a few days." The figure laughed. "So what is the loose end?" "You. See with Thorn gone, it means that the trail to you, and by extension me, is getting shorter. So what's the best thing to do." "Stop this isn't you, these aren't your words...what is going on with you?" "This is me. These are my words. These are the words I've been saying all along. Or are you saying I'm not your friend, just someone visiting." "These aren't your words. they're..." "Stop, you know the drill, what is set in motion must stay in motion." "I know." "Besides, it's not like you have a choice." "I know." "You are expendable, your part in this play is ended. The curtain is about to fall." "Will it be painful?" "A large number of nanites in your body, rushing it to your heart, causing it to explode, then dissolving so there is no evidence. I'd say it will hurt like hell." "But is it...." "The will of your empress, yes." Bult nodded. "It was my pleasure to serve,'' the figure said. At that moment she pressed a button, smiled, and left the room. Bult clutched his chest as he began to feel intense pain. It was over in moments. (reply none) (Exeter- Ops office COO Ensign(sg) Paul Sleeford 00:05) Standing at the rear of an increasing crowded office, with the first officer arriving it was now getting claustrophobic, reaching back he deactivated the locks on the observation door, allowing those inside to get out. Feeling it was better to allow the guilty out then to incarcerate the innocent. Looking up as the first officer demanded answers. “Okay, so lets bring each other up to speed; what do we have?” the commander asked. "Sorry to bring you all here. About 15 minutes ago, Lieutenant Williams, Ensign Sleeford, Miss Dubois and I were in the observation Lounge. After Ensign Sleeford left, three people came in. One of them, I am sure matches the voice that Commander Merek, Ensign Sleeford and myself were trying to identify." (Reply any in OPs Office) "The problem is, you have only my word for it. One of them, I am sure matches the voice that Commander Merek, Ensign Sleeford and myself were trying to identify." “Thank you Ensign. Proceed.” Ailynn said, simply. She caught sight of Erin, still listening to the rest of the room. “You look like I feel Cortez.” She nudged Erin with her shoulder, and slipped an arm around the other woman’s shoulder giving her a squeeze. (Reply Cortez) "The problem is, you have only my word for it. As I was saying to Ensign Sleeford, we can't do anything without proof. Authorization Merek Sigma-Gamma-Three.” "Lieutenant Williams was also present and can serve as a backup once I name the three we need to check." Ailynn, settling at the back of the room, to allow more space, allowed things to happen around her. She’d noticed quite early on, that a lot of times events managed themselves, if they were left to do so. Interference from her at this point, would be counterproductive. Years ago she’d read a book, or set of books more correctly, in it, there was a head wizard, who made a point of actively not listening to anyone. His rationale was, not without personal agreement Ailynn admitted, was that people tended to feel the need to take things to the most senior person available. Therefore he’d stopped listening to anyone. Beyond that, after five minutes or so, if that person was still trying desperately enough to get his attention, is seemed there might be a crisis worthy of his attention. Ailynn rested back against the wall, listening quietly. "Are we ready, Commander Merek?" Erin asked. “File is all cued up.” Keira stated. (Reply any) =^= Quick.... Sensors….. Keira waited in anticipation as her friend ordered the computer to compare files. =/\= Voice match, 90%. =/\= “That’s really close. We can probably zero it in more by matching atmospheric conditions, air speed, distance from recorder, humidity. It’s good enough to pass a voice print authorization.” Keira admitted. Erin rested her hands on the console. Not really listening to what was being said around her. After a moment, she said, "You should go get him." “I think a security team would be closer….” And with those words, Ire, Cortez and Sleeford were gone consumed by a transporter beam. “Guys? Loki’s trickery what just happened?” (Reply Bracken) “On it.” Keira switched up the menus and accessed internal sensors. She keyed in a series of quick commands. Sensors confirmed they were all taken by a site to site transporter beam. “Transporter beam took them, but to where? Fvadt!” Keira said cursing in her second native tongue. (Reply Bracken) She scanned for their combadges, and found their locations quickly. “Holodeck 3?” “Merek to Cortez.” [Communication is not available in Holodeck 3] “Fvadt!” [Command not recognized, please restate the query.] “I’ll inform the Captain. Merek to Captain Williams.” (Reply Trip) “ Some one just grabbed a large chunk of your staff and transported them to Holodeck 3. Commander Bracken and I are still at OPS. I tried recalling the transport but the system is locked out. Communications to the holodeck is cut out as well.” Keira said urgently. (Reply Trip) “There’s something running. I’ll try shutting down the program.” She said, bringing up the holo-grid command tables. She pressed the key to shut down the program with a standard command. It did nothing. She pushed the button trying to deactivate the running program again, but instead of nothing she heard a humming from behind the console quickly grow in volume, then humming became more of a high-pitched whine. “Overload!” She warned and rolled out of the chair blindingly fast as the console erupted in a shower of blue sparks and lightning. (Reply Trip, Bracken) Keira opened her eyes at the sound of her Captain’s voice over the still open channel and The First Officer still in the room but a little ways away. She looked down at herself, her uniform was singed but still largely intact. She seemed to have all her parts. “I seem to be in one piece.” She said with a groan as she got up. (Reply Trip, Bracken) “My guess would be that whomever set up the block left a present for me. Next best chance would be at the maintenance hatch outside of the holodeck, considering what just happened with me trying to open it remotely.” She answered. (Reply Trip, Bracken) “I’ll meet you there. Merek out.” Keira said as she made her way to Holodeck Three. (Reply Trip, any) (USS Exeter – Quarters – Ensign Janice Hammerfield – 0014) It had been a long day for Janice as she returned to her quarters from the counselling offices. Letting out a deep sigh she took her stained jacket off and threw it onto the back of a chair. Glancing down she could still she blood dried onto her hands, “I need a shower...” She made her way into the side room and as she turned the tap on to wash her hands she could feel the pull of a transporter whisk her away. ( USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - Tac/Sec Ens. Stan More - 00:14 ) Stan reappeared on the Holodeck and looked around. His hand phaser and rifle were gone. But the cosh he had hidden under his clothes was still there. "You may be wondering, Who ive been all along you may have gotten close But you've always been wrong I know you are dying to finally meet me But don't think for one moment You can actually beat me the time for games is over this much is true but when it all comes crashing down Please dont be blue The end is coming soon it is plain for all to see If you want to start the end game Weclome to holodeck 3" Stan listened as the ‘ Empress ‘ ordered the death of David. Stan should of felt fear. He was saddened by the senseless death of another. But his anger at this women who or what ever she was. Seemed to hold his fear at bay. He was concerned for his friends who had also. Been brought here against their will. He watched silently fuming as Ire was the next person to be toyed with. ~ Come on yer wee scum bag Sassenach harpy. Pick on me next....I’ll show you what a Scotsman can truly do. In World War II on Earth the enemy called my people the devils with skirts. Hurt my friends and you’ll see yer bitch...~ Stan thought (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - "The Visitor" - 0015) The endgame had finally arrived. Had Tyko Nix made the decision not to board the Exeter, he;d still be alive and she wouldn't have had to kill him and enact this plan. Unfortunately the crew was more persistent and competent than she had originally given them credit for. If she had the swap device, she'd be in the captain right now, but that damned Tyk Nix made sure of that. So it was time for the end game. Her being found out was now an eventuality, and if her capture was imminent, she would give them a show. She managed to get control of some of the internal transporters. She would only get one shot to beam her prey to her. Maintaining control of holodeck 3 would be much simpler. Safety overrides were off, doors were locked, and she managed to put enough redundancies in the system that it would take time for those on the outside to reestablish control. Just enough time for her to play a little game. "Now then who should I play with." The figure no longer wore a starfleet uniform, but rather was dressed in a black suit, with red tie, and cane in her hand. She sat down on a throne and smiled. "I have one shot at this, here goes." Selecting her prey she laughed. A combination of menacing and seductive. "Energize." In that moment a group of officers appeared in her dark throne room, trapped in stasis fields. (reply Sleeford, Ire, Erin, Hammerfield, More, Nesha, Clarke, Lana as you materialize) As they materialized a song began playing throughout the holodeck. " The figue said. "You were close, oh so close. But I figure if I am going down, I'm going to take some of you with me. "Some of you are here, because you couldn't leave well enough alone. Some of you are here because you are the Tactical chief's secret eyes and ears. Right, Nesha?" (reply Nesha) "Some of you are here because you are interesting, though your chaos would be more useful to me on the outside. And one of you is here, because I find you to be an absolute bore. Right David?" (Reply Clarke) "I mean, if I had it my way, I'd have swapped into the captain, or the first officer, or even the captains wife. Then I'd have that yummy captain wrapped around my finger. But no, swapping can be a crap shoot. But I made the best of it. But David, you are so dull, that I wanted you here to prove a point." The figure than smiled. "You can call me Maxine, but Maxine isn't here right now, so call me what they called me in my home universe. Empress." (reply any there) "Now your empress wants to play a game. Truth or death. You can choose truth and answer a question truthfully, if you lie, you die. Or choose death, and face a death trap. Truth keeps you alive. But if you survive a death trap, I'll move you closer to me. If you can reach me, I'll let you kill me. How does that sound." (reply any there) "Now then, lets begin, by showing how serious I am. Goodbye David. Hope you had a good life." At that moment thousands of volts of electricity surged through Clarke's stasis field and through his body. Within seconds he was dead on the floor. "Now that you know I'm not playing around. Let's begin in earnest. Ire Williams, Truth or death?" Trip cut the comm channel before either could respond in the affirmative. Tapping his commbadge once more, "Captain Williams to Lt. Ravok. Meet me in front of Holodeck 3. We might need a sec team, small though, no more than two. Maybe Smith and Arbor. " (reply Ravok) "See you there. Trip out." This person was methodical and ruthless. As she edged closer to the others, the woman spoke, "Now then, lets begin, by showing how serious I am. Goodbye David. Hope you had a good life." He said softly to himself and walked out the door. (USS Exeter – Ready Room –FO Cmdr Ailynn Bracken– – 0016) “I think a security team would be closer….” And with those words, Ire, Cortez and Sleeford were gone consumed by a transporter beam. “Guys? Loki’s trickery what just happened?” The exhaustion left her...immediately. Fear, washed over her, to be replaced by a rush of energy. She’d pay for this for days no doubt. Her brain switched on, she felt alive, the situation, terrible, of course, but it was these moments that all the training, all the courses on crisis management, Situational awareness and who knew what else came to their own. She wasn’t however, calm, her body was supplying her with adrenaline...lots of it. Parts of her were terrified, she’d watched one of her closest friends disappear, just like she had when the cult of the Pah Wraiths had abducted all the Bajoran crew. “Kiera...Find them! I don’t care what you have to do. Use every resource we have just bloody find them!” “On it.” Keira switched up the menus and accessed internal sensors. She keyed in a series of quick commands. It was okay when we left the room.” She saw the look of bafflement on his face as he saw the smoke pouring out of the room that the two Commanders had just casualy stepped out of. (Reply none) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - Ensign Janice Hammerfield - 0018) Trying to move Janice found herself unable to. Even with what little strength she had from the night put into it – It was not enough to break free. Looking about she could see some of her crewmates as some music began to play. Ignoring it she looked about her for anything that might help her break free of the force keeping her in place until the music stopped and a voice came from the dark. Listening to the conversations flow she couldn’t help but think that all she wanted right now was to take a long shower. The frustration left her incensed. As she repeatedly attempted to wiggle her arm slightly. "Now then, lets begin, by showing how serious I am. Goodbye David. Hope you had a good life." There was nothing she could do but watch him fall to the floor as her heart jumped a bit from Cortez’s scream. Janice’s gaze narrowed and focused on the threat ahead of her but she fought her instincts to fight and instead tried to probe the field for any signs of weakness by attempting to move her body. She didn’t hold out much hope for it but what other options were open to her. "Now that you know I'm not playing around. Let's begin in earnest. Ire Williams, Truth or death?" “Death.” Janice’s gaze looked over to Ire not really expecting that response, but it gave her time to think. She needed to think, ~Ok Janice... if you were a psychopath playing a game of death with people what would you do? What do I know? We are all in danger... Duh. Next – Empress- Delusions of grandeur?. Next – Shes playing a game – The game has rules. We have an opportunity to kill her. Does she obey her rules? Do we... Oh no... that’s not what I would do at all.~ Her eyes widened slightly and she looked up at the figure before averting her gaze for too long as a sinking realisation crossed her mind. ~There isn’t any winning to this – If we loose her game we die – If we win, shes going to kill us all. The only thing left is... to keep playing – we need to draw this out. We need to make sure she doesn’t get bored – Look what happened to who she thought was boring. Damnit... (Reply Green) (USS Exeter – Personal Quarters - Lt Jg Greta Smith - 0019) Turning over in bed, Greta, reflexively stretched out her arm to cuddle up to ire and opened her eyes. ~hmm not here. He must be still working. ~ she thought to herself as she sat up in bed. The thought was immediately interrupted by a voice she knew all to well coming through the comm. " Ravok to Ensign Arbor and Lieutenant Smith meet me outside holodeck 3 immediately. Ravok out." Picking up her combadge from the bedside table, she tapped it and replied, succinctly, "On my way." Sighing as she got up and began to put on her uniform, she muttered to no-one, "Hope your shift isn't as exciting as this may be." (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 – Ensign – Science Officer – David Clarke - 0020) "Some of you are here because you are interesting, though your chaos would be more useful to me on the outside. And one of you is here, because I find you to be an absolute bore. Right David?" “I am not a bore.” He tried to move again. ~Come on you need to get out of this stasis field~ "You can call me Maxine, but Maxine isn't here right now, so call me what they called me in my home universe. Empress." ~Empress, home universe. Ow no, ow hell the hell did she get across~ "Now your empress wants to play a game. Truth or death. You can choose truth and answer a question truthfully, if you lie, you die. Or choose death, and face a death trap. Truth keeps you alive. But if you survive a death trap, I'll move you closer to me. If you can reach me, I'll let you kill me. How does that sound." ~Why could it not be some normal person who get across rather than some megalomaniac~ "Now then, let’s begin, by showing how serious I am. Goodbye David. Hope you had a good life." ~They are going to hunt you down for this~ There was an intense sensation of his body being on fire and then the release into darkness as his lifeless body dropped to the floor. (Reply none) (Uss Exeter - Holodeck 3 - COO - Ensign (sg) Paul Sleeford 00:20) As the transporter beam released him Sleeford heard music and words from an unknown source. Trying to move he found himself pinned in place in some sort of stasis filed, reaching round his back he stood at parade rest, from habit, feeling the knife in the scabbard smiling to himself he was reassured by it's presence. "You may be wondering, Who ive been all along you may have gotten close But you've always been wrong I know you are dying to finally meet me But don't think for one moment You can actually beat me the time for games is over this much is true but when it all comes crashing down Please dont be blue The end is coming soon it is plain for all to see If you want to start the end game Welcome to holodeck 3" "Welcome, welcome, to this the endgame. " Looking to the front of the room, Sleeford saw a figure in black, seated for in all the galaxy something that looked like a thrown. Frowning Sleeford listened as shi, he, it spoke. "You were close, oh so close. But I figure if I am going down, I'm going to take some of you with me. "Some of you are here, because you couldn't leave well enough alone. Some of you are here because you are the Tactical chief's secret eyes and ears. Right, Nesha?" “….so call me what they called me in my home universe. Empress." Sleeford chuckled to himself, ~Empress, in your dreams my woman.~ “…Truth keeps you alive. But if you survive a death trap, I'll move you closer to me. If you can reach me, I'll let you kill me. How does that sound." Looking at the others Sleeford could see the same look of fear he felt himself . "Now then, lets begin, by showing how serious I am. Goodbye David. Hope you had a good life." Watching as the man called David, crumpled to the ground like someone had given him a massive electrical shock, glaring at the thing in the front Sleeford gripped the handle of the knife. ~You'll pay for that missy, even if i have to cut your throat myself.~ "Now that you know I'm not playing around. Let's begin in earnest. Ire Williams, Truth or death?" “Death.” Looking across at Ire, Sleeford nodded once, if it wanted to play, then he'd play, but by his rules, not it's and his rules when he was pushed into a tight corner weren't nice rules. Frowning he wondered where the thoughts like that where coming from. Maybe the situation he was in and the stress of the past twenty four hours was beginning to show. (Replies none) (USS Exeter – Sickbay – Head Nurse, Ensign SG Violet Drake– 0020) =/\=Captain to sickbay, I need a small med team, to head to holodeck 3. It's an emergency.=/\= "This is nurse Drake, we'll have a someone out there on the double." Violet then quickly ran into the CMO's office to check with the on duty physician. "Dr. Methor, I know there was a kerfuffle here late, so some of the med techs are off limits. Wakeman also seems to be missing, but I think her shift just ended. Anyways we got a call for a med team to go to Holodeck 3. Came in from the captain. If you don't mind I'll take the new guy with me to assess the situation. If we need more help, I'll buzz you." (reply Dural) "Thank you sir." Violet said politely. She was the head nurse and normally worked alpha shift, but from time to time she took the night shift to help train new personnel assigned to Gamma shift. One such person was Dr. Heinrech Kruze. Kruze had graduated from Starfleet Medical Back around 2445.05.22 and had spent the first few months of his career at Starbase Freedom. He was a new transfer to the Exeter, having recently joined. This was the perfect time for her to guage the new doctors abilities. "Alright Bambi, I've got a job for you." (reply Kruze) "Captain Called for a medical team. So you and me, lets go. Unless you aren't up to the challenge." (reply Kruze) "Saddle up then, and grab a med kit. Holodeck 3, I assume you know the way." (reply Kruze) (USS Exeter – outside holodeck 3 – CTO/3O Lieutenant Ravok Sg.– 0020) Ravok walked up to the holodeck and saw the other gathering there. " What's going on ? " Ravok asked as he noticed the wall panel outside the holodeck displayed that it was occupied. His security team was right behind him. ( reply , Trip , bracken , merek ) A sense of panic came over him as he tapped the wall panel only to be met with a buzzing sound that indicated an interface error. He looked at Trip and felt his heart sink. He had just joined the Exeter, and while his degree meant he couldn’t be made to change the bedpans, he could be made to do data entry. He took a swig of his lukewarm coffee as Nurse Drake approached. "Alright Bambi, I've got a job for you.” Heinrich turned to Nurse Drake. He hated being called Bambi. “I’m ready to serve ma’am.” "Captain Called for a medical team. So you and me, lets go. Unless you aren't up to the challenge.” Heinrich smarted. Not up to the challenge? Why else join Starfleet? “Anything to put off this data entry,” he said with a smile. "Saddle up then, and grab a med kit. Holodeck 3, I assume you know the way.” “Alright!” Heinrich said as he stood up. He, of course, didn’t know the way. He’d only arrived on the Exeter three days ago. But he was a man with pride, and he wasn’t going to suggest he didn’t know where something is. If Nurse Drake wasn’t going to tell him he’d read the signs. And if that didn’t work he’d find a private place to ask the computer. Heinrich walked to the wall where the medical kits were kept. He opened it up to check its contents. When he saw it was all in order he closed the lid. “Alright, let’s go.” He walked up to the door and stopped, motioning with his hand, “ladies first.” (reply Drake) (USS Exeter – outside holodeck 3 – FO Cmdr Ailynn Bracken.– 0021) "Kiera, Office is the door on the left, derestrict the terminal and it will give you full access to the entire system." (Reply Kiera) Ravok walked up to the holodeck and saw the other gathering there. " What's going on ? " Ravok asked as he looked at the wall panel outside the holodeck displayed that it was occupied. His security team was right behind him. “Kidnapped staff. All transported into holodeck 3. According to the computer we’re missing Cortez, Clarke, Kervik, More, Hammerfield, Wakeman, CFO Williams” A sense of panic came over him as he tapped the wall panel only to be met with a buzzing sound that indicated an interface error. He looked at Trip and felt his heart sink. “Kiera’s setting up a Command area just down the corridor. Liaise with her. I want in to that room. No one does that to my friends and colleagues.” Her demeanour was slightly distracted, her eyes held to the middle distance, thought her mood, was utterly utterly furious. Whoever had done this had better hope that Ailynn never managed to get hold of them. She turned to her old friend, and nodded, she knew that she didn’t need to say anything, which was fortuitous, as she genuinely had no words. (Reply Kiera, Ravok, Trip.) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - "Maxine" and Lt. JG Greta Smith - 0022) " Death" "How bold and defiant of you, choosing death. But I never thought you were a coward. She told me all about you. At that moment Greta Smith came out from behind the throne. Her hair pulled back into a ponytail, she was wearing black eye shadow and black lipstick, dressed like a femme fatale. An almost angry, soulless look in her eyes, Greta regarded each of the prisoners as she walked to the front of the throne. No emotion on her face, she looked at "Maxine" and nodded, not saying a word. "Maxine" Beckoned Greta over to her, and Greta sat in her lap, draping an arm behind "Maxine's" neck, and the kissed he on the cheek. "Good girl Greta, Good girl. Are you ready?" "Ready, definitely. This has been a long time coming for some. " "Good. See Ire, you chose death, so my death trap is this, a fight to the death versus your betrothed. She is playing for keeps, will you." (reply Ire, any) "Greta, be a good dear and kill him." Nodding at "Maxine ", Greta stood and faced Ire. Regarding him for a moment, she smirked, "Ire, poor sweet loyal Ire." Greta then grabbed two daggers from the side of the throne and began walking towards Ire. As soon as she was a certain distance from the throne a forcefield was erected behind her, sepearating Greta from "Maxine". In reality separating Ire from "Maxine." At that moment the stasis field around Ire dropped. Greta smiled. "I Never really loved you. I just wanted you to know that, before I kill you. I was using you to get what I wanted. But turns out, your career is going nowhere, should have hitched my wagon to Ravok or Trip. Oh well, at least the sex was good. But I've found a different horse to back. So I guess this means we're through." (reply Ire, any who want to react) "Here let me give you a dagger so we can make this a fair fight." Violet I trust your judgment, take Dr. Kruse, we’ll set up here for casualties.” Dural said standing. "Thank you sir,” the Head Nurse said as she left with the new “Bambi” doctor, Dural addressed the crewmen left behind. “Good news!” Dural said pleasantly. “Due to circumstances beyond our control, you may now take a break from the inventory.” As the team of medics started a miniature verbal celebration, they were interrupted as the Cardassian spoke again, “So that we may set up for receiving casualties.” “Is this going to count as time served?” One of the medics asked. “No.” Dural answered simply. A collective groan from the group let him know they weren’t pleased. Dural held up a single finger, “Now, if you continue to work in medicine… this might be your first long night but it won’t be your last. Put all the medications in ready status and ready the OR and preform level one diagnostics of all bio beds.” The group reluctantly started moving but gained momentum as they worked, and muscle memory of past drills took over. (Reply none) (USS Exeter – outside holodeck 3 – Lt JG Greta Smith – 0022) Walking up to the holodeck, Greta stood to one side, near Ensign Arbor. From what she could see, something was going on and it was not good. The entire command staff was in attendance that never boded well. Turning to Arbor, she said, "Any idea what's going on here?" (Reply Arbor, any outside holodeck 3) (USS Exeter – Outside Holodeck 3 – 2O/CEO – Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek – 0023) It was fortunate the ‘lifts weren’t locked out like some of the other systems. "Kiera, Office is the door on the left, derestrict the terminal and it will give you full access to the entire system." Keira only nodded. She was aware of the maintenance room she was referring to, having performed repairs and diagnostics on the holodeck a few times herself. The door slid to the side as she approached, she caught a short glimpse of her significant other rounding the corner. She felt her heavy heart lighten a little. ~At least he wasn’t grabbed.~ Then felt a pang of guilt about allowing herself a moment of selfishness. “….No one does that to my friends and colleagues.” Keira heard the First Officer say before the door closed. The Chief Engineer deftly unlocked the terminal and began probing the holodeck systems for a way in. (Reply Ravok) Keira sprang out of her seat and embraced the man that walked through the door. “You’re alright!” (Reply Ravok) “Did they tell you? Whoever it is, got Erin.” Keira said. (Reply Ravok) “Oh,” She said touching the singed parts of her uniform, “I got into a disagreement with the main console in the OPS office. Seems the person who took everyone left a trap in some of the algorithms.” (Reply Ravok) “I promise you. I’m fine. We can worry about that later, we’ve got people to get out.” She said as she sat back down and got to work. (Reply Ravok, any) She brought up the holodeck program that had everyone trapped. ~First order of business.~ A short search through the code brought up the intrusion countermeasures that were put in place that destroyed the OPS console. She wrote a quick subroutine based off of a Romulan algorithm to augment the Starfleet counter-intrusion software. It would start with the one that she had identify and then go through all three computer cores purging all the traps from the system. (Reply any) While the program she made was running, she made another attempt at accessing the active simulation in Holodeck Three. It was still locked out of the higher functions, might take her a bit to crack that, but it did allow audio/visual viewing. She pulled up the feed on her screen. “I’ve got live feed!” She announced loud enough for everyone to hear. (USS Exeter – outside holodeck 3 – CTO/3O Lieutenant Ravok Sg.– 0024) “Kiera’s setting up a Command area just down the corridor. Liaise with her. I want in to that room. No one does that to my friends and colleagues.” Bracken exclaimed. Ravok looked at Arbor and Smith. " Remain here with captain Williams and Commander Bracken." He ordered as he walked straight to Keira's position. His,sister, his brother and his cousin were in danger. Nothing was going to derail him. He entered the command center that Keira was setting up. Keira sprang out of her seat and embraced him as he walked through the door. “You’re alright!” she said. Closing his eyes briefly savoring the small moment of being embraced by the woman he loved." I'm alright " For a moment and only a moment his fear was gone, but it returned as quickly as it had went away. “Did they tell you? Whoever it is, got Erin.” Keira said. His voice cracked. " I know." He looked at Keira's uniform. " What the hell?" “Oh,” She said “I got into a disagreement with the main console in the OPS office. Seems the person who took everyone left a trap in some of the algorithms.” " Are you ok?" He asked. His anger was now on the rise. “I promise you. I’m fine. We can worry about that later, we’ve got people to get out.” She said as she sat back down and got to work. Ravok stood over her watching her work. She brought up the holodeck program that had everyone trapped. He watched her write a quick subroutine based off of a Romulan algorithm to augment the Starfleet counter-intrusion software. ~ She knows more about Romulan used counter measures than I do~ Suddenly she pulled up the feed on her screen. “I’ve got live feed!” She announced loudly He glanced quickly at the screen seeing a brief glance of the occupants. ~ Erin, Ire , Nesha, Stan, Paul. Is that someone on the floor? Another blue uniform and... GRETA?~ "You had a live feed." Trip said as he arrived. The feed on the monitor fizzled out and was replaced by a smiley face ,with a hand wagging back and forth saying no, with the words, you didn't say the magic word printed over head. " Damn it." Ravok exclaimed as he turned away from the monitor in a rage. " Fvadt susse-thrai!" He exclaimed cursing in Romulan. "Before the feed cut, did anyone get a count of how many are in there. Is it just Sleeford, Ire, and Cortez? Are there others? Does anybody have any idea?" Trip asked. Ravok turned to him. " Lieutenants Williams and Cortez. Ensigns Sleeford and More two medical/ science personnel that I'm unfamiliar with and ...Lieutenant Smith." He said looking over Trips shoulder at Greta. "Keira, could it be possible for a security team to go in through the jeffires tube system into the Holodeck, and if so Ravok, could you get a team through?" Ravok looked at Keira and nodded his head. " Yes it is..." he answered for her. " And yes I can. I should be able to access holodeck 3 from an entry point on the ceiling. The armory is right above holodeck 3. We can drop down in overwhelming force, but it appears the occupants are restrained with force fields. We could the bioelectirc field modulators on the EV suits to momentarily disrupt the forcefields." He explained. It was odd calling the Doctor Bambi, as Kruze was older then her. However, Drake had been out of the Academy longer and had more practical experience on Starships than he had. That counted for something, at least in her mind. (Reply Kruze) "See I told you that you'd be able to find it. Not sure if you've used the holodecks on the Exeter yet, but Deck 9 is the one stop shop for all your recreational needs." (reply Kruze) "Anyways Bambi, the Captain and First Officer are over there. Why don't you go and check in with the First Officer, Commander Bracken. The Captain seems to be talking, we don't want to interrupt him. I'm sure you can get the officer aside to check in. I may be a higher rank, but you are the doctor after all." (reply Kruze) (USS Exeter – Outside Holodeck 3 – Medical Officer, Ensign JG Heinrich Kruze, M.D. – 0026) Five minutes can feel like forever when you don’t know where you’re going. Heinrich was relieved to make it to the holodeck, he had half suspected Nurse Drake might be messing around and taking him the long way, but was unnerved by the amount of high ranking officers standing outside. Even Captain Trip was on hand. “Well here we are Bambi,” Nurse Drake said. Heinrich hated being called Bambi. He nodded. "See I told you that you'd be able to find it. Not sure if you've used the holodecks on the Exeter yet, but Deck 9 is the one stop shop for all your recreational needs.” Truth be hold, Heinrich had only used a holodeck a handful of times in his life, and only for medical training. His parents disapproved of them, and had raised him with their suspicion. His disapproval was almost puritan. Holodecks, in his mind, were about escaping reality. But the happy life could only be discovered in reality. But now was not the time to unload his prejudices on crewmates. “I haven’t had the pleasure, ma’am. I’ll have to check it out sometime when I’m not on duty.” "Anyways Bambi, the Captain and First Officer are over there. Why don't you go and check in with the First Officer, Commander Bracken. The Captain seems to be talking, we don't want to interrupt him. I'm sure you can get the officer aside to check in. I may be a higher rank, but you are the doctor after all.” Heinrich nodded, “uh, yes, of course.” He approached Commander Bracken as Captain Williams was talking. While he was confident in his medical abilities, he was hardly confident enough to approach high ranking officers, especially in what was clearly a dire situation. His mind was running imagining the different possible scenarios that could be going on behind those walls. It was not focused on protocol. So he blurted out, “Commander Bracken, did someone ask for a doctor?” (Reply Bracken, anyone) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams - 0027) " Death" "How bold and defiant of you, choosing death. An almost angry, soulless look in her eyes, Greta regarded each of the prisoners as she walked to the front of the throne. He saw no emotion on her face as she looked at "Maxine" and nodded, not saying a word. ~No it can’t be her it just can’t~ "Maxine" Beckoned Greta over to her, and Greta sat in her lap, draping an arm behind "Maxine's" neck, and the kissed he on the cheek. "Good girl Greta, Good girl. Are you ready?" ~Greta what are you doing~ "Ready, definitely. This has been a long time coming for some. " "Good. As soon as she was a certain distance from the throne a forcefield was erected behind her, sepearating Greta from "Maxine". In reality separating Ire from "Maxine." At that moment the stasis field around Ire dropped. He stood up slowly looking Greta as she moved towards him with the daggers in her hands. ~Stop freaking out and concentrate. You know this is not Greta. She would not do this you know her~ She moved as Greta moved and talked as Greta talked but now that he had time to examine her calmly and collectively. He tuned out what she was saying and doing and just looked at her. There was something off about this Greta. There was nothing externally different from this Greta and his Greta and he would have missed it if he had not calmed down but there was something not right with this Greta. He supposed that the only thing he could thing was that there was no soul behind her eyes. He guessed that growing up around AI and holograms had given him an instinct when telling them apart from the ream people. ~There is always a chance that I am wrong and that she is~ A pain slammed into his shoulder spinning him sideways and dropping him to his knee. He saw one of the dagger imbedded into his upper arm just below his elbow. “IRE THAT’S NOT GRETA, YOU KNOW SHE LOVES YOU” ~No not wrong~ He snarled at the pain as he stood up and gently slid the dagger out of his shoulder. ~Hope it did not damage anything too badly~ He looked at "Maxine " and grinned. “Nice try Queeny but that’s not my Greta.” He watched Greta step closer. He could feel the blood trickling down his arm and his shoulder hurt like hell. He remembered what the instructors always say that you are going to get hurt expect the pain do not let it control you. ~Ow this is going to hurt~ “Come on then. I have some where important to be.” He readied him self for her attack with his dagger forward, protecting his wounded shoulder and grinned at her. (Reply Greta, any) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams - 0035) Ire side stepped Greta’s thrust. He felt the blade slice through his uniform. If he had been a split second slower, he might have got a bad wound. He ground his teeth as he kicked out, but his foot went through air as Greta moved out of its way. He brought his blade sweeping round to block Greta’s lighting attack but was not quick enough to duck her strike to his face. ~Ah dam it~ He stepped back blinking the tears away as he cut widely. There was pain across one thigh and more across his back. Pain shattered the last shreds of control that he had as rage and anger filled his thoughts. ~End this now~ He charged forward as Greta’s blade dove towards his chest. He twisted sideways knowing that he would get injured, but it would also mean that he would also be with in its range. He snarled with pain as the blade slid into his flank as he stepped right up to Greta. ~It’s not her~ He looked into her beautiful face and her hazel eyes. ~It’s not her~ He yelled in a burst of rage as he drove his dagger up under her rib cage into where her heart would be. She came off her feet, as he slammed her onto the ground. He paused for a moment watching the light go out of her eyes. He then slid the dagger out of Greta and picked up her dagger from the floor and stood up facing “Maxine”. “Are you not entertained……” He glared at “Maxine” “….are you not…entertained.” He through Greta’s dagger which slammed into the throne forcefield and clattered to the floor. (Reply, any) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams - 0033) Ire looked down at the still form of Greta and dropped to his knees. He knew that it was not her, he knew that but still. “Why are you doing this?” (Reply Maxine) His fingers reached out and touched her brown hair. “Why did you do this?” (Reply Maxine) He balled his fists and slammed one into the floor as the rage over took him again. “Why did you make me fight her.” (Reply Maxine) He felt tears trickle down his face as he looked down at her. “What kind of sick person are you to get enjoyment out of watching me kill the woman I love?” (Reply Maxine) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - CSO Lt JG Erin Cortez - 0034) Erin watched in horror as Ire fought someone that looked like an exact duplicate of his fiance. As the final blow was dealt and Ire dropped to his knees beside the form, Erin closed her eyes and whispered under her breath, “Please…. No more.” Her mind was registering what was happening but she felt numb. Nothing that she had seen was registering in her head. Words would not be able to describe the utter terror that she felt coursing through her. She knew what Ire would be feeling, knew what it had done to him dealing that fatal blow and she felt a tear run down her face as she watched him. ~I pray that they get us out of here soon because i don’t know how much more we can deal with here.~ Glancing at “Maxine”, Erin felt a fire build within her. This was the person that had ordered the death of her staff member, of Nix. She could feel her fists balling up, anger like she had never known began to flood her mind. (Reply any) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - "Maxine" - 0036) “Why are you doing this?” "Because I'm smarter than you lot and I'm a sore loser. So if you're going to take me down, then I will take as many of you with me as I can. If not by killing you, then killing your spirits." “Why did you do this?” "Because I could deary, because I could." “Why did you make me fight her.” "It was her choice not mine." “What kind of sick person are you to get enjoyment out of watching me kill the woman I love?” "What kind of sick person kills the woman he loves?" she said turning it back on him. Rage, that was the only word for it. Absolute and complete rage. "I may be trapped here on the Exeter, and yes any moment now your command team will probably stop you. That, because of her hubris and her need to scream at this woman responsible for the deaths of a number of crew mates and of Nix, a man who had a place in her heart, something was about happen. Some she would carry with her for a long time. "And because of your insolence I will kill one of your colleagues. Will it be Ire? No he is already broken. Will it be Lana, no Stan, or Sleeford, no, I still have hope for them. Oh I know the cousin of your good friend Ravok." (reply Nesha iyw) In that moment electricity surged through Nesha's field in the same way it had Clarke. In seconds she was dead. As the electricity flowed and struck her friend, someone she had considered a sister, Erin became aware of two things. One, that she was shaking and crying, sobbing infact. The second was a noise. A noise she couldn't place at first but then she realised what it was. She was screaming. (reply any iyw) As the woman spoke again, Erin could hear only one thing. Something akin to white noise. She knew that she should respond, she should offer hope to the others, support. But she couldn't. To her, she had just caused the death of someone close to her. And close to her brother. Her thoughts turned to Ravok. In her minds eye, she could see him and all she could do was mutter, "I'm sorry." Maxine made sure that the statis field between her dais and the others was still in place and released Sleeford's stasis field. Smiling, she also pressed upon on a device on her wrist. But if you drown, well I guess you die. She said with a fiendish laugh as the tube was almost full. As the tube began to fill with water Sleeford took a deep breath and clamed his mind and closed his eyes, as the water rose to his chest, Sleeford relaxed his mind and slowed his heart rate, he's had similar exercises in marine training, in his mind he began to sing to himself "Eine Kline Nacht Muzik" as he felt the water cover his face he floated and waited for the burning pain as the waste products from his body slowly poisoned him. As soon as the tube was full a counter began. tick, tick, there were 58 seconds left on the clock. Maxine smiled. "First we have young, shy Lana. Had you stayed at the academy, you'd be quite fine and dandy. Such a beauty, you'd have to keep all the boys and girls who wanted to play away. Instead little miss intern is here, are you ready to die miss intern?" (reply Lana) "And Janice Hammerfield, the gruff tough security officer turned engineer. Your clever trap was a nice touch. Did you think of it all by yourself? Would be a shame to waste such an intelligent brain." (reply Hammerfield) "And Stan More. Oh Stan, what could I do to you that you haven't already done to yourself. Honestly, it might have been better to leave you on the outside. You;d have caused more chaos that way. But sometimes its better to keep you on a short leash." (reply Stan) At that moment the counter hit 0 and the water released from the tube, and the tube disappeared. Sleeford fell to the floor. "Oh good, he is still breathing." A stasis field appeared around Sleeford, moving him next to Ire. The area inside the field produced enough oxygen to help Sleeford with any oxygen deprivation he might have. "Well while Sleeford is recovering his breath, Ire is seething in anger and Erin is wallowing in grief. Let's move on shall we. Janice, Lana, and Stand, truth or death? Lana regarded Maxine with pity, a look of the same on her face, mixed with fear, and something else, something that she had no real right feeling. ~was it resistance~ “No, but I’m interested in how you think this will play out. I’ll take truth.” Her voice cracked, through the emotions she was displaying. (Reply Maxine) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - Ensign Janice Hammerfield - 0049) "And Janice Hammerfield, the gruff tough security officer turned engineer. Your clever trap was a nice touch. Did you think of it all by yourself? Would be a shame to waste such an intelligent brain." Janice didn’t say anything. Nothing that might give Maxine any more information about her than she already knew. Nothing but a spectator stuck in the stasis field she started to feel claustrophobic. With a slight more tingle on desperation she tried every part of her body to try and move again. Although being quiet she was not numb to what was happening around her. There was just little she could do to prevent any of it right now. She watch on as Sleeford was trapped in a container and held his breath. "Well while Sleeford is recovering his breath, Ire is seething in anger and Erin is wallowing in grief. Let's move on shall we. Janice, Lana, and Stand, truth or death? Oh just because I'm being merciful. First to speak, speaks for you all. If they say truth, it's truth, if they pick death. Death." Janice heard the word truth said from her side. It appeared to be Lana. It was exactly what she was going to say as well. “You heard - What’s your question?” she said through gritted teeth still struggling against the force field as her still blood stained hands ached against it. Maxine said with a laugh. "Now then, you can answer in any order you want, I don't mind." Maxine ran her hands through her hair. "Lana, sweet, sweet Lana, here is your truth question. Will you ever be enough, or is just like your mom told you, you have no potential to awaken and will you never be enough and you are just wasting your time in Starfleet?" Maxine smiled again, "Hammerfield, Hammerfield, why did you really ask to transfer to engineering from tactical? Are you afraid of death? Are you that weak" Then last with a laugh, "And Stan, dear Stan, oh bringer of chaos and fun. What shall I ask you. I know, not counting me and this moment in time of course. Are you your own worst enemy?" Maxine then waited to see who would answer first. Janice looked at the other two then back to Maxine. “Am I afraid of death no,” she spat back, “If that’s what you think then how little you claim to know me.” She drew in a deep breath and through back a bit to her transfer, “I had my job to do. I had people to protect. I had people to save and I couldn’t get to them. I couldn’t save them. The responsibility and pressure of that was huge.” (Reply Maxine) Janice interjected over Maxine. “BECASE I MADE A MISTAKE!” she shouted looking down to the floor, “... I made a mistake and people died! Is that what you want! I wasn’t good enough to save them! Didn’t think fast enough. Wasn’t strong enough!” Janice let out an exhausted sigh, “You have your answer - Thats why I transferred.” (Reply Stan, Lana, Maxine) (USS Exeter - Holodeck 3 - COO - Ensign (sg) Paul Sleeford - 00:54) Sleeford got to the start of the second movement of the music in his head, when the burn started, the build up of carbon dioxide was starting to make his lungs burn and his brain fizz. Knowing he had roughly two minutes left before hypoxia sent him into unconsciousness, he relaxed and waited for the inevitable, the thing that claimed to be Maxine at the front of the holodeck would kill them all eventually, unless by some miracle the rest of the crew made a rescue attempt. That said, it would lead to disaster as it it would gie 'Maxine more play things, fresh bodies and minds to torture. As the blackness started to close on his mind, the water that surrounded him, vanished and the cylinder that had surrounded him was gone, falling to the floor like a landed fish, Sleeford took a large gulp of air. "Oh good, he is still breathing." A stasis field appeared around Sleeford, moving him next to Ire. Getting to his knees Sleeford slowly stood and faced the front, glancing at Ire, seeing the falorn look and a look similar to what he expected to see on his one face, one of revenge, wanting to get to the front to make the person there suffer, for all the pain and misery she'd caused, Taking shallow breaths slowly regaining the oxygen he'd been deprived, he resisted the urge to gulp like a landed fish and give 'maxine' the satisfaction of knowing he'd had a hard time. No, but I’m interested in how you think this will play out. I’ll take truth.” Lana Chimed “You heard - What’s your question?” Hammerfield said through gritted teeth. "Oh well this will be fun. Hearing Hammerheads replies Sleeford felt a surge of respect for the woman, to admit that because of your actions people had died too guts. He knew how much it had cost her, he knew because it would have cost him the same. The deep down loathing that you'd failed. Gently tapping his left leg above the knee, where the new meet the old, yes he knew the price of failing to live up to your own hype.
