Stardate:2406.10.01 (USS Steel Talons - Admirals Quarter, Admirals Briefing Room - Admiral LoDona, Captain Lowell, Captain Sash, Captain Rofellian, Captain Sevant, Captain Winters, Captain Ktell & Others - 0800) LoDona looked around the room, there were at least twenty-five Captains in here, everyone that had been close and could immediatly make it for a conference. Of the other one hundred and eighty CO's, most were already on assignment and would get thier orders via subspace. Consiering the fact that he hadnt given anyone any warning, he thought it was a good turn-out.Besides, he hadnt wanted every ship here, it would have made far to rich a target-of-opportunity. He rapped his metal-bound knuckles of his borg-implants on the podium to get everyones attention, and nodded when he saw he was being watched. "Welcome to the 'Talons," he began. "Though I wish it was under better circumstances." He took one more look at everyone, then stepped aside and walked closer, so he wouldnt have to bellow. "In the last several months, you all know we have been preparing for what could be a very long and costly campaign, with what appeared to be a very low chance of sucess." He paused for a few seconds, "But we are no longer alone. In the last two weeks, Ive gotten reports that at least two other fleets on the outer-rim of the Federation have declaired war on Doenitz and pledged support in bringing him down. As far as our agents can tell, the Federation Council still doesnt know what is going on, so we have avoided a full-scale civil war. With any luck, and a mircale, we could still avoid one... we could keep it in the family. That is my hope, though we are preparing for the worst." Robert took a breath, "For the time being, we are still mostly safe, there are few loyal ships to Doenitz within two weeks travel. He may be ambitious, and he certainly isnt stupid, he is going to do away with us as quickly as he can and as quietly as he can, meaning he will send ships en-force. We need not worry about more then minor skirmishes for the time being. That gives us time to prepare, to explore this area and prepare it for our stand." He paused, "But first, I would know your thoughts on the matter. Regrets, opinions, I don't care." He turned his head, "Anyone?" Alexandra had arrive with the captain's yatch but not alone, she had 4 security officers and Tahl was with her in spirit in this room. She was really happy that he was with her on this trip, they could have some time together. She had time to say hello to everyone and talk to them a little, even more so the new faces. She look up to the Admiral. "I just might as well start, it's probably more or less the same for everyone. My crew, took it more or less great. I have manage to put things to right but they all feel the stress, behing faraway from home. I do also, I have been boosting work to better the Cochrane who needs a major refit. We have done some of the work but it's time intensive and this is in between the research and exploration of this sector. We have also went into a skirmish with 2 federations ships, they wanted to take over the Science Station Regula V who is newly installed, but it's now secured. It reminded everyone what was going on and they are not happy. I know just to well about Doenitz and the possibilities and also, it's not only one man that we will have to bring down but a legion who is behind him also. We need a more secure communication net between us." Remae looked around the room, looking at the Captains, in all these years, he couldn't remember a gathering such as this. He then caught an eye out the window, it was hard to miss the sheer volume of traffic out there. Starships were backed up as far as the eye could see, Remae wondered to himself how such a large gathering was going to pass unnoticed to the likes of Admiral Doenitz, no matter how far his fleet was from Geneva. When Captain Lowell had finished Remae took himself to speak up, he wasn't flavour of the month with the brass at the best of times, but nevertheless. "Secure comms are essential, Captain Lowell is very correct. this is the time to organise the codes and frequencies we are to use. If we keep away from regular Starfleet frequencies, and use our own encryption codes, that'll be a good start." The Bajoran stood up and headed for the large screen on the back wall and after pressing a few buttons, a map of the area came up, with a large blank space covering 4/5ths of it. "I want to give an overview of sector 21912, the area we currently are in. It is virtually unknown to us, however, we do know this. The subspace rivers end here, the last point on the river ends at Geneva, beyond, we don't know why, but there are no other subspace tunnels. One theory is that the subspace river begins here, not ends." "With the help of Admiral Jopek, who came on the Spectre to take command of the new Phoenix Shipyards, we've analysed the results Starfleet had recently obtained with probes that were sent into this unexplored region of the Alpha Quadrant." Remae nodded to Admiral Jopek, thanks to his help, they had gained some ground into what was in store for them. "Evidence of an advanced species lies in the centre of this sector of space, power readings and a barrier of immense energy has been identified but not explored, so whatever lies beyond, is anyone's guess." Remae returned to his seat but didn't sit down, "Finally, we've gathered information that we, the 52nd fleet, aren't the first to arrive here, Klingons, Ferengi and many more species are on the way to explore this area, we're bound to run into some new species too. I full expect Geneva to rapidly become a hub of activity for this area of space, it's the biggest thing around." He sat down, unless the fleet began to explore this area of space soon, they could well find themselves with a renegade fleet on one site and several species on the other, and in the middle of all that, a chance that some advance species that created the subspace rivers was just waiting for them, in the centre of the sector. It was the first time that Vladek was taking part in such meeting, most of the Captains were unknown to him, he was of course knowing well Captain Lowell, she had spend recently quite some time onboard the station, He was also knowing Captain Sevant the CO of his former ship, the Uss Boudicca, he was FO of the Nimitz the last time the ship had stopped to the station. He had heard about the loss of his family and he was planning to speak with him after the meeting. Vladek had patiently listened the explanations of the Admiral and Lowell, Ktell's concerns, he was glad that the Bajoran was speaking about his station As the Spectre's Captain sat down Vladek took the floor to say " I'm glad that Captain Ktell has dealt with this subject, those who knows me knows that, as former TAC/SC, Security has always been my first concern and I must tell you that I'm currently very worried for the security of the station and all the civilians we've got onboard. I know that I'm sometimes coming within an inch of paranoia but it's probably due to my Romulan heritage." he said in smiling. "Anyway, Geneva is stationed at the end of the subspace river if Admiral Doenitz plan to send a fleet in the Beta Quadrant, we'll be in the first line and concerning the new species, we don't yet their intentions regarding us. I know that the station is quite capable to defend herself against an aggression but who knows against a massive attack. One of the station's support ship is a science vessel, that's leaving us with only one battle ship. So I think that one of our first concern should be to make some allies in the quadrant. I've already taken the liberty to send the Uss Nautilus to chart the area and to make a report of the major powers we'll have to deal with." Vladek stated In exposing these problems, he was knowing that he wasn't speaking for the entire fleet but only for his station but with her strategic position Geneva was one almost the master piece of the Fleet and they couldn't avoid to loose it. Robert had listened to the three officers, then brought up a hand. "A few points. One," he looked at Captain Vladek, "As the headquarters, you will never lack for Support. If the Talons is not immediatly available, I will have at least one other Battle-Cruiser Class ship in the immediate area on standby duty." He looked out again, "Strategic Ops, myself, and a host of others chose this spot for three primary reasons. One, its isolated and fairly unknown to the Federation. two, one way or another, there is a terminus to the River here, so unless Doenitz's forces pop out, they will have months worth of travel to reach us. Three, this area is not completely unexplored, there are nebula and subspace phenomina Galore all over this sector of space. If, and I mean if, we get into serious problems are are forced to wage a gurella war, then we will be able to hide whole squadrons amung subspace phenomina and quasars, and numerous other things." Robert looked over everyone, "Aye, we have races here we've never met. We have a few old faces, though they don't seem to be here in any kind of force, that doesnt mean we want to launch a war with them or any of the other races around. There have been indications that the Xenolithe might be out this way too, that is something I want everyone to be well aware of. Otherwise, this is a utopia for science. When you are not actively fighting, I want you to be recording. I will not have this opportunity wasted." The Fleet Admiral took a breath, "I am a battle commander, that is what I know best. I have been dedicated to the security of the Federation since long before I recieved my Class Ring." he held up his left hand, and flexed it to show the Borg Implants. "I can tell you now that this is going to be a very difficult battle, a quasi-civil war that will be fought with vile weapons and dark deeds. We are fighting our own, and don't think I don't realize that nor agonize over it. However, even our own can be turned if we make enough of a fuss. If we can convince everyone that we are not out to subvert the government, we stand a chance of sucess. We will NOT win by pure force-of-arms. I will NOT d estroy our defensive capability. This means, Captains, that if you get a chance to talk someone over rather then firing a photon torpedo at them, you do so." Sevant, the Captain of the Boudicca, stood. "Sir, to do that will require more then hiding out in this backwater. We will need to run sorte's into the space we just abandoned, and even deeper into the Federation. If anything, we will need to start a propoganda campaign." "Yes, and no, Captain." LoDona immediatly answered. "In fact, you hit one fact on the head. Once you have your ship in full working order again, and you shake her down, you will be going back to formally held space. You will recieve details on that at a later time, but it's suited to you and your First Officer." Sevant quirked his head and nodded, "Understood." Robert continued with "I will not innitiate a propoganda campaign until this breaks into public knowledge, which probably won't be long. If it is known that a signifigant portion of Starfleet is rebelling, then it could insite the entire Federation into a Civil War, which will destroy the very foundation of trust we have built over the centuries. I will ONLY innitiate propoganda if it becomes necessary." He looked over at the Captains, "I have orders for you all, in this newsection. Some combat, some science, all of it vitally important." As one of the few non-ship captains in the room Tahl was feeling quite alone. When Admiral LoDona mentioned Strategic Ops he perked up and thought about standing, and then decided against it. This was not the time. He was aware of the current situation, perhaps moreso than mostof these cpatains. He's seen the most recent data. He also knew that he was not long to enjoy his new bride. Since he and Alex had gotten married it had been one thing after another. They had hoped to find some down time. But now he was certain that there was a specific duty for him coming up that would, once agan take him from the comfort of his home on the Cochrane. It had been difficult, but it had been something that he had been able to keep from Alex. Of course she knew there something going on, but she respected his privacy and would not discuss it with him. He looked over to see her amidst the sea of captains, and couldn't help but smile. The smile faded as he realized that very soon, one of them could be dead. Vanyssa had sat beside Devan, listening to what was going on around her. She caught herself reaching up to touch the fourth pip and stopped herself. This day had seemed like a dream so far. The others had hit the nail on the head when they spoke about the races here, the need for defense for Geneva, the need for tighter communications. Her thoughts were on the Nimitz's crew, and the people that they had lost that were not here because of the war. She was the kind of person that always thought about people first, and how things would affect them. She also didn't tend to speak unless she had something to say. That would need to change, but she was in shock from all the changes. How would it get out to the rest of the Federation? What would her grandmother say? She looked up as the Admiral said her name, and waited patiently for the assignment of the Mystique. She already had a vague idea of what it would be.... she just had to be patient for the details. Sash looked over at Nessa. She litterally beamed with joy. Her pride of her recend promotion was a mirror of his own. He had known she was ready, and was gratified to know that Robert LoDona had concurred. The speaches that had been made were very nice, but Sash, like LoDona, was a man of action. He had been produced to fight wars, and wound up in a civil war of his own. He had prayed that he would never live to see another war so brutal. He still maintained that prayer, but had grave doubts of its possibilities now. He had seen the winds of this falling a long time ago, he had just hoped that people would come to their senses before it was too late. But "too late" was right on top of them now. Now it was simply a matter of time. Some gung ho commander, looking to make a mark in the universe, will start something that could potentially lead to the end of the Federation as we know it. He caught sight of Sevant as he recieved his orders. Nimitz, itself, had just finished it's shake down from repairs and upgrades and was ready to roll. Sash was curious to the mission that was being held for them. He felt his ship and his crew were ready for just about anything. Suddenly he felt stirred to say something. He stood up and cleared his throat. Sash was not an easy man to ignore. It didn't take long for all eyes to turn to him. "Captains, Admiral," he began, "as many of you know I am a man of few words. But I want to take amoment to say this. Our future looks grim, and fraught with peril. What else is new in Starfleet? We didn't take our jobs to sit in the back-ground and watch as events took control of us. We are the ones that have taken control of our destinies. And it appears that we must do so once again. I want to say this to you Admiral LoDona, the Nimitz and her crew are at your dispossal. We are ready to do what in needed to be done." Sash looked around the room, making eye contact with many of the captains he knew. "Just remember, stick to the principles that have gotten where we are today, and we are sure to prevail. As is the motto of the Nimitz. Where there is darkness, let US bring light." At that Sash took his seat. "Very good, Captain." LoDona said with a small nod. He pulled a PADD from the podium, and handed it over. "Your orders, for the Nimitz, Captain Sash. We are perilously short of Anti-matter, it will be your job to procure some." Robert looked at Jopek for a moment, "You should have your supplies within a month, if all is agreeable." Without waiting for an answer he pulled another PADD and handed it to Captain Ktell. "The Spectre is small, hard to find. You, Captain, Im sending on an errand. We have heard rumors of a buildup, not far from our old position. We would already konw, but for a plethora of subspace events all round the area, the same patch of thorns that gave us headaches not so long ago. Take the Spectre, scout the place out. Only engage if necessary, the rest of your orders are on the PADD." The Admiral pulled out another PADD and handed it to Captain Lowell. "The details for your mission is also on the PADD. We have some exploration that needs done, something that allows you to get your ship put back together." Robert tossed Captain Rofellian a PADD and looked at him. "You, Captain, will take your two support craft into the river and deposit sensor mines in strategic points in and around the river. We need any warning we can get of approaching fleets. This takes special signifigance if Captain Ktell finds anything of substance in these buildup rumors." He then picked up the last PADD, and handed it to his newest Captain. "And for you, shakedown time. Take the Mystique to these coordinates and map the area. You have a general time-frame of six weeks, if you need more shake-down time after that, contact me directly." He looked around, "That is all, Dismised." Stardate:2406.10.07 (Steel Talons - Observation Lounge - Flt Adm LoDona, Capt Winters, Capt Sevant & Lt Major Lee - 0900) =^=Sir, we have passed the Defensive net.=^= Robert nodded to himself as he looked out the windows of the lounge, "Very well Captain, bring us into a standard orbit." He turned to Captain Winters, this would be the first official view of her ship, once the docks came into view. Her new MCO was also present, standing at light attention, his new Company patch decorating his arm. Rich and LoDona got along well, they had much in common. The Talons turned slightly, following a set path through the defensive nets, and bringing the yards into view. He grinned as he saw the ships in place, the Boudicca was there being patched up. And right next to her was the Mystique, fresh out of repairs and ready to be commanded. "Captain, I present the Akira class Mystique." he said, as he gestured out the window to the Akira. Vanyssa grin widened, as she leaned slightly forward. She knew Rich well, and was glad that he was here with her. It was unfortunate that David could not be, he would have been so proud of her. "She's beautiful." Vanyssa breathed out, her words very light. Her eyes wandered over the Mystique, and she felt herself fall in love. This was the feeling that all the Captains talked about, the first time you saw the ship that you were going to Command, it was bliss, it was better than any drug you could take. It made everything, almost, worth it. The doors slid open, and a well-built half-vulcan walked in. "Admiral, Captain, Major." he said in a bass voice. Sevant was no stranger to any of the people in this room, he had served with all but the Admiral on the Nimitz not so long ago. Rich Lee nodded to the Captain and turned back to his new command as the Vulcan slid next to him. Sevant spent a few moments looking at the Mystique, then turned his gaze to the nose of his own ship, the Boudicca. Both ships were a departure from traditional designs. His was a warship, hers would be an explorer. In a way, he almost envied Winters, she would only need be on the front lines when it was necessary. He would be going back almost immediately. He placed his hands gently behind his back, "She is a lovely ship, Captain Winters." he said quietly. "Serve her well, and she will assuredly do the same for you." Vanyssa looked up at someone else she knew fairly well. "Thank you, Captain Sevant." She said, very formally, her eyes never leaving the Mystique...until the view changed to that of the Boudicca, showing closer looks at the damage that had been done to it. "My goodness." She breathed out, and took another deep one in. She had heard of all the things that had happened on the Boudicca, but she hadn't believed that the damage could be as bad as it was. "How long ?" She asked Sevant, knowing that he would know exactly what she was asking. The Vulcan narrowed his eyes at the ship briefly, "If all goes according to plan, a week. There was more then just battle damage to contend with, she was originally rushed through her refit and into duty, these yards weren't around then." he said in the same even tone. It was nearly a physical ache, looking at his ship hurting as she was. The Boudicca had been his first assignment out of the Academy, and she had been his first permanent command. He abruptly turned on his heel, "And, myself and Mr. Grailik have work to do on her." He half-bowed to Winters, then looked at the Admiral. "With your permission, sir?" The Admiral nodded, "With my compliments, Ill be over later." "Aye, Sir." Sevant said. He walked up behind Winters, then paused. He put a hand on her shoulder, "Keep safe, Vanyssa, as much as you can." Vanyssa looked up into Sevant's eyes, and squeezed his hand. "I should be wishing you that, Cal." She gave him an impulsive hug and projected to him. ::I think that both Vicki and David would be pleased with us.:: The Vulcan smiled, thoroughly grim. "I'm suited to this duty, though its logical enough to wish us both luck." he said as he pulled away from the hug. ::Likely, I can only hope. Pain eventually fades, as does the memory of love. with luck the hole it leaves will not be replaced with dark hatred. Keep safe, Vanyssa, and pray I do my job well enough that you need not join me on the front lines. We have all lost enough already.:: Captain Sevant nodded to Lee once, then turned and left before he could receive an answer. NRPG: This is where I break off from the already established joint post, and go to Sevant only. RPG: He turned through the bridge and into a turbolift. He picked up his small knap-sack from beside the turbolift, already packed, all he had to do was procure some transporter time. He quietly entered the turbolift, "Transporter Room three." he said in his usual monotone. The people he had commanded, not so long ago, were now commanding themselves. This civil war was pushing responsibility on so many people before their time, Vanyssa would be grey long before she had to be. Sevant would as well, come to think of it. Nominally, he should have been in the fleet for a few more years before a command opened up. It was not an ideal situation, but then again, nothing ever was. (Boudicca - Transporter Room - Sevant & Kestra Troi - 0925) Sevant materialized onto the pad, and was immediately assaulted by the ring of a boson's pipe. "Captain is aboard!" Sevant waved the Officer of the Deck down, and immediately strode out of the transporter room. He had immediate orders to give, he had things to do. He slung his pack over his back and tapped his badge, "Commander Troi to the ready room." It had been a very quite time aboard, no one knew where the ship was heading. Everyone was told just to go about their normal business and that everyone would be informed of our mission when the time had come. The ship still badly needed to be repaired from the battle of the spider creatures and their senders needed to be stopped. Kestra had spent days helping all the wounded on the ship and there had been numerous crewmen that had returned to duty. Her outlook brightened each time a crewmen was returned but she still could not get over the numerous ones that had their minds wiped. These were going to have to be transported to Geneva to see if they could do anything for them. If not then they would be transported to their home world for them to do what they wanted. Her combadge had brought her out of her thinking and she recognized Sevant's voice to realize that he had returned. "Aye Captain on my way sir." She replied and head there. Sevant walked into the ready room and dropped his small duffel as he immediately went to the replicator. "Tea, herbal, hot." he said. He took a sip and closed his eyes for a moment, before turning his head to look out the window. The ship had looked far worse then she was anymore, all that was left was some mass-replacement of hull-plates. Most of her internal damage had been utterly erased in the three months they had here at Spacedock Codename Phoenix. The hull-plates were easy, they had already been replicated, they just needed to be put down. If the job were done quickly, they could be done in two days time. In fact, that was exactly what was going to happen, baring problems. He had his orders, they would be departing in three days. The Mystique, he had an excellent view of her from his ready-room, would be leaving a couple days before him. ~Good luck, Captain~ he thought quietly as he looked at her. He took another sip of his tea as he turned his gaze to the half-constructed starbase there. A good portion of his crew was going to be transported over in the course of the next three days, all of them were currently on Phoenix or the Talons. His injured crew were going to be mass-transported over to the Talons before she left later today, that was one of two things he had to discuss with her immediately. He sat down behind his desk and leaned back, letting his impressions of the last two weeks wash over him as he waited for Kestra. Kestra arrived on the bridge soon after talking with Sevant. The Spacedock on the front view screen caught her attention as it would anyone seeing it for the first time. It was an awesome spectacle, large and majestic sitting in space above the planet below. Many ships were there and a lot of worker bees were buzzing around them. She also noticed that the Flagship of the fleet, which Admiral LoDona had set up his command on was there. She could only think that there was something about to happen that was very secret. Pushing the door chime to his ready room, she immediately heard that distinct voice telling her to enter. Entering she walked up to his desk, "Lt Commander Kestra Troi reporting as ordered sir!" "At ease, and have a seat." he said as he placed his tea aside. "I have a couple orders for you. First, the seemingly irrecoverable crew we have, and those from the Backtron, will be transferred to the Talons in the next couple hours. You will oversee that, they will be taken to Geneva for long-term care." He leaned forward in his chair and cupped his hands over the tea mug. "Your notes will be uploaded to the Talons as well, along with any other pertinent information, so the doctors there can work on them. We will also be sending examples of the psi-ders, maybe their scientists can make something more of it. Every 'brain' we have is being sent along as well, in case memory-patterns were stored in them." Kestra entered seeing the wondrous view his ready room had of the area around the Spacedock, she also saw something that she had not noticed in the front screen, that was a ship she had never seen before. It was a beautiful ship and she guessed an Akira class, which, she could not remember one being in the fleet before. Sevant had caught her attention when he told her to have a seat which she did but still sat more or less at attention as she knew that important information was about to be conveyed to her. She listened to what he said and only nodded in the appropriate areas. "I will ensure that I also update the information that we send to them on the 'zombie' crew members. Sir will we also send over the crew members that are in serious condition from the injuries that they sustained from the battle?" She asked as there were still some of the crew that had sustained serious injuries that were a long time in healing. "If they will take more then a week or two, then yes, we will send them off and pick them up on our return." He said, "I don't plan on giving up any of my crew if I can possibly help it." He paused, "Which brings me to my next order of business. You will be going along with the Talons to Geneva, you have been reassigned by Admiral LoDona." "Understood Captain" Kestra replied on the wounded crewmen, then it dawned on her what he said afterward. ~reassigned by Admiral LoDona?~ she quickly thought to herself ~I have only been here a short time and now he is reassigning me?~ "Sir? Reassigning me? What happened? Is he not satisfied with my work here?" She asked wondering why she would be reassigned so quickly. At this point she was confused by his actions and there were only a couple of possibilities but she thought she would let Sevant tell her why. Sevant held up a hand, and pulled a small PADD from his uniform. "On the contrary, you are being given a promotion." he said. "To first officer of the Nimitz." He handed the PADD over, "If there is a bump in your rank, it will be given by Captain Sash or Admiral LoDona, no such note has been given. But the transfer is in place immediately, you have six hours to get your gear, the Talons leaves Phoenix then." ~Promotion to FO of the Nimitz? What happened to Vanyssa?~ She thought then got a bit worried. "Sir, what happened to Vanyssa Winters, is she wounded or something?" She asked quickly as she took the PADD that he offered her. Her joy at this assignment was dampened only because of the question about Vanyssa The PADD did not really state what happened to Vanyssa just that she was to report to Captain Sash as his FO. It also stated that she was to be transported over to Geneva to catch the Nimitz via the Talons. She was happy that she was finally getting to be FO and of the Nimitz no less, but, she was still worried about Vanyssa. She had trepidations on the subject of Captain Sash as there had been something started before she left and where it could have gone if she had not left she could not fathom. Sevant turned and scooted back so the Doctor could see, and pointed to the ship biggest in his window. "The USS Mystique, Akira class. An explorer by designation and departing immediately for shakedown and mapping operations. Commanded by Captain Winters." he said, answering the question in a round-about way. He signed as he looked back at her, "So many of us are being shifted around, I fear this is only the start." "Cap..tain .. Winters?" Kestra could barely hide her astonishment at the news. She could scarcely hide her large smile that found its way to her face at the news. She wanted so much to congratulate her friend on her promotion and honor of becoming a starship Captain. She could remember the day that the then Admiral Aragorn had given her the captainship of the Nimitz not long before she resigned her commission. She had resigned to accompany him and Louise to the Vegan home planet to help find a cure for his disease. She did not regret helping him, but, did regret giving up the Nimitz. Staring out at the Mystique, she replied, "My friend you deserve it" saying it to no none in particular. Then she returned to the present, "Sir, I believe that ship is in very capable hands and I am honored to be the one to fill her shoes on the Nimitz." Sevant nodded, and stood. He offered a hand, "Congratulations. I thought we would be together for a while when you were transferred to the Boudicca with me, I was wrong. I look forward to seeing you again in better circumstances. Perhaps," he paused and mused for a moment. "Perhaps when this is all over and we can be regular people again." "Sevant, if I may, I have enjoyed our working relations not only here but on the Nimitz as well. I wish you and your ship all the luck in your endeavors. I especially hope you win over the creatures that we left behind as I know that you will return. If I know you even a little bit, it was hard for you to leave them undefeated after they did such damage to your people and ship." Kestra saw the many faces of the wounded and dead that she had looked at after the battle and shivered. "If there is anything that I can do to help you or your ship, call my friend." Kestra then, knowing that it was against the rules and probably against Vulcan etiquette, she hugged him tightly. Sevant, cautiously, returned the hug. After a few seconds he stepped back again, "You have very little time, and much to do before you leave. Be well, Kestra, and dismissed." Kestra stepped back and for once in her career she saluted a senior officer. "Sir, I will ensure that all data pertaining to the discussed is completed before packing." She swiveled on her heels and left the room with a tear making its way down her cheek. Sevant watched her leave, then slumped back in the chair and put a hand over his eyes. He felt as he had aged at least ten years in the last few months and it was only going to get worse. He looked up after a few moments and opened his eyes. He had work, lots of it, the ship had to be ready in time. Stardate:2406.10.07 (Boudicca - Bridge, Ready Room - Capt Sevant & Lt(jg) McQuade - 1100) Chris had been transported to the Secret space dock by the flagship, Talons. He had been refused access to the bridge while in route but he had plenty to accomplish as he had been assigned temporarily to the medical department of the Talons. He had plenty to do than to worry about where they were going until they had arrived. He was then told by the Admiral that he would transport over to the Boudicca and report to the captain. He had gathered his few personal belongings and headed for the Boudicca and wondered what type of ship it would be. He had not went to the computer to find out what the ships classification was as it really did not matter to him. He would work where he was assigned. As he materialized on the Boudicca and requested permission to come aboard the transporter chief gave permission. This was really just a formality as all persons coming aboard a new ship for the first time had to request permission even if they had orders. He then made his way to the bridge and to the ready room of the Captain. He pressed the door chime and waited for the captain to acknowledge him then give permission to enter. Sevant turned in his chair, "Enter." He ran his hand over the monitor he was looking at, and turned it off, when he noticed an officer walk in. Chris entered on command to walk up to the desk in front of him with the captain sitting behind it. He stopped and raised a crisp salute, "Sir, Lieutenant Junior grade Christopher Douglas McQuade reporting for duty as your new Chief Medical Officer." He finished his speech then held the salute until the Captain returned it as customary. Sevant gave a sketchy salute, "At ease." he finally said. "Orders?" Chris was a little disappointed at the salute that was returned but then again a captain can do any they liked. He stepped forward and handed him the PADD, he returned to a parade rest stance until the captain read the PADD. Sevant took the PADD and looked at the officer for a few more moments, then turned his eyes to the PADD. The orders were proper, Sevant could see that much. He took a breath as he put the PADD down, and folded his hands together. "Welcome to the Boudicca." he finally said. "You will notice we are just recovering from months of repair, I recommend you contact Commander Troi before she leaves to get fully caught up." "Sir with all due respect, I did not look over what the Boudicca had been through. I worked my want to her on the Talons and then was transported over here. I came directly here from the transporter room not paying much attention to what was around me. I figured there would be time for that after I finished reporting to you. I will endeavor to meet with Commander Troi and get her report of what has being going on and what I need to know about what will be left to do when she leaves. Sir." Chris thought that being honest with his new captain would be the best thing to start out with. Sevant sat back in his chair, "In that case, you will notice it." he finally said. "we've just been through battle, and we are racing to finish so we can charge right back in the mouth of hell and poke at the devil for our ideals. Time is short, patience shorter, and we have absolutely no room to fail. That is what you've walked into Lieutenant, the Boudicca is a warship and we are in the midst of war. I hope you like the Rage of War, Doctor. You will be busy." "Sir any doctor will tell you that we do not like the rages of War as you call it, but, we do not shirk the responsibility to serve our crew members in such a case. I will not relish battle nor will I shy from it, I will do my duty as well as I am able. I do not foresee letting you or the fleet down as I do my duty." Chris replied still a bit stiffly. There were things that he was not sure if the Captain knew or not which he was not sure he wanted to go into them at this point. "Good." Sevant replied, his hands still folded and his gaze penetrating. "Then we will have no problems." He took a breath, "You have three days or so to settle in, and get used to the crew. We are running on light duty shifts, all except Engineering. Commander Troi leaves in a few hours, I won't keep you longer." He stood, and offered a hand. "Again, welcome to the Boudicca." "Thank you sir" Chris replied and again went to attention then saluted. "Dismissed, Lieutenant." Chris lowered his salute and made a crisp turn then marched out of the room Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Captains Quarters - Capt Sevant - 0650) This was the day. Sevant looked at himself in the mirror, noting his appearance, then nodded satisfied. He turned on his heel and looked around the quarters, all was in order. This was the day, his ship was complete. He tapped his badge, "Sevant to all senior officers, meeting in the Observation Lounge at 0800, no exceptions." (reply: if desired) Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Quarters - Ensign Ryko Skylynx - 0650) This was the day. =/\=Sevant to all senior officers, meeting in the Observation Lounge at 0800, no exceptions.=/\= Ryko sat up and stretched. The back of his neck ached slightly from where the now-healed plasma burns were still bugging him a little. He rose and groggily rubbed his eyes. "Computer, time," he said in little more than a mutter. [0650 hours] came the equally monotonous reply. Ryko got up and resisted the temptation to fall back onto the bed. He knew he had work to do, the best way to make it go away was to do it. He hesitated as he considered giving Yalta a wake-up call, he never had given her "payback" for waking him up all those months ago. It wasn't important. He would see her in the observation lounge, whatever was going on. He went straight into the bathroom and took a sonic shower. Feeling refreshed, he dressed, then decided that, since he had a full hour until the meeting began, he may as well head to the bridge and check everything was okay. He replicated a cup of coffee and gulped it down. He grimaced as he was forced awake by the sudden impact of a strong, hot drink, then headed out of his quarters and into a turbolift. "Bridge," he said in a boring tone, and the turbolift took him to his destination. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO Lt(jg) Christopher McQuade - 0652) Ever since his arrival no more than three days before, Chris had been coming to work early to make sure that every item was stocked, every machine working, etc. He had found some items that needed to be replaced and others needing repaired, which he promptly accomplished. Today as he entered sick bay he noticed that he was not the only one early to work when he heard the message from the Captain. =/\=Sevant to all senior officers, meeting in the Observation Lounge at 0800, no exceptions.=/\= Here it was, the time that they all would find out what they were about to do and where they were going, finally. Chris wanted to get out away from the spacedock and go to work. It had been a long three days sitting in spacedock getting ready and finishing repairs. After reporting to the captain, three days earlier, he had went and recieved a very indepth briefing from Lt. Commander Troi about what had happened while she had been the Chief Medical Officer. He was astounded at the volume of information that she had and that she had sent along with the wounded that was serious enough to have to be replace and the bodies that she called 'Zombies'. He cringed at what she described as their intellect being devoured, as it was the only thing she could contribute it to, by what she said looked like spiders. In her report she called them psi-ders. She had informed him that they were attracted to anyone that had any amount of pyshic abilities, no matter how small or known. She had left after all the bodies had been transported over and her report had also been sent. She seemed, to him, a bit sad that she could not have helped the Zombies or find a way to do so. He had come to like her in the short conversation that they had before she had to leave. He would have liked to have worked with her a bit. He gathered what information that he had in case the captain wanted an update on the status of sick bay. After making his rounds of sick bay to make sure that all patients that were left had been tended, he headed to the meeting. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca- Bridge- Ensign (JG) Ryko Skylynx- 0720) Ryko walked onto the bridge and headed to the tactical console. Frederickson was already there. He remembered he still owed him a return game of Velocity. "Good morning, Ensign," Ryko said as he began to search through the computer logs, checking everything was as well in order as it could be, considering the ship was in the midst of a major overhaul. (Reply Frederickson, IFW) "Hope you're not too tired," Ryko asked as Frederickson went about logging off . (Reply Frederickson) "Captain's called a meeting, I need to attend, but you don't need to. You think you could handle the tactical station while I'm busy?" (Reply Frederickson) "Good," Ryko said as he checked the time. "See you when I'm done," Ryko said, and bade goodbye to John. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - ACEO Enaj - 0745) Saim was sitting in one of the big chairs waiting for the meeting to begin. The past couple of months in space dock had been tiring. Engineering had been working around the clock with the work crew to get the Boudicca ship shape for an unspecified time, which always felt like it was nipping at their toes. Saim had got to know her new boss a bit better, West, than before, what with there being no oppurtunity before. Trevan was an okay bloke... Interrupting her thoughts Sevant entered. "By order of Fleet Admiral LoDona and Captain Sevant, Everyone aboard the USS Boudicca is hereby authorized to wear the Combat Action Ribbon in recognition of theirduty on board the Boudicca on Stardate 2406.07.03. Dueto the mass-award nature, you can replicate the lapelpin for your uniform from your replicator. I will not be placing it on you myself unless you wish it." Saim decided she would replicate the pin and put it in a draw. She did not ever want to be pompous about accolades but she did like her work to be apppreciated. Saim listened attentively as various announcements were made. Sevant nodded and picked up another special-coded box. "Lieutenant West." he called out. "Mr. West, in light of your injuries in combat on the Boudicca, I hereby award you with the Ribbon of Sacrifice." Saim felt that the award was well earned. She was still surprised he had got out of that hole with so little injury. "Ensign Enaj, front and center." Hearing this Saim stood up, "Sir." "Ms Enaj, I hereby promote you to Ensign Senior Grade." Sevant reached up and popped the hollow pip, and then quickly secured the solid-gold in its stead. He nodded to Saim once he was done, "Congratulations." "Thank you sir." Saim was thrilled. A promotion after such a short time in Star Fleet. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca – Crew quarters – OPS Lt. Schafio - 0750) Yalta had work hard this pass few days, refit of communication and sensor system on the ship was long and hard. So when she woke up for the second time, she had to get ready for the meeting. She look at her schedule, she would be busy at least for another week of fine tuning since everything now work perfectly. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Ensign (JG)Ryko Skylynx - 0750) Ryko walked into the lounge and noticed the rest of the senior officers seated around the conference table. He took a seat and smiled at Yalta, who was looking as curious as he was. He took a few breaths and pushed his hair back. It was getting a little too long. Sevant walked into the room at the stroke of 0800 hours with Commander Grailik flanking him. Everyone was present, and Sevant nodded to the room in general as he walked to the head of the table. While Grailik sat down, he put a few PADDS and a couple other baubles on the table in front of him, he didn't sit down himself. "As you know, I've been off for two weeks, and we've received our orders. The ship has been completed and we are due to leave this afternoon, so if there is anything at the Starbase you need, grab it." He looked around for a moment, "I've also had time to confer with the fleet admiral and look over my notes, so before I begin..." Ryko thought. He had asked for his weapons collection to be shipped to the starbase. It would be worth taking a look. he looked up as Sevant introduced the new CMO/2O. Ryko nodded a greeting, observing conference protocol. Another person to take orders from. It seemed like the entire crew was relocating. Sevant paused long enough to pick up a PADD. "By order of Fleet Admiral LoDona and Captain Sevant, Everyone aboard the USS Boudicca is hereby authorized to wear the Combat Action Ribbon in recognition of their duty on board the Boudicca on Stardate 2406.07.03." He looked up again, "Due to the mass-award nature, you can replicate the lapel pin for your uniform from your replicator. I will not be placing it on you myself unless you wish it." Ryko smiled amusedly. Replicating lapel pins wasn't routine, but a break from the norm, however small, could be fun. He attentively sat as Sevant awarded medals to the MXO and MCO. Both Marines returned to their seats, Sevant turned back, this time not needing to look at the PADD. "Lieutenant Schafio, front and center." Ryko watched Yalta get up and go to accept a captain's commendation. He smiled at her as she recieved the medal, and watched her return to her seat. She looked pleased, and deservedly so. Ryko watched as Lt West, Ensign Enaj and Dr Rin were given their respective awards. He felt a stab of emotion as his name was called. "And finally, Ensign Skylynx, stand front and center." Taking a deep breath and glancing around the room, Ryko stood, and presented himself to the captain. "Mr. Skylnx, I also bestow unto you the rank of Ensign Senior Grade." He grabbed the last of the pip-boxes, and did the same for him that he had done for the last two officers." Ryko accepted the pip and pinned it ceremoniously to his lapel, discarding the hollow pip. Sevant put the box down quietly, "As you know, our Security Chief was killed in battle. You have been filling his duties since then, today it is official. I hereby name you as the Security Chief of the Boudicca, serve her well and she will surely do the same for you." Ryko lit up as this news was delivered to him. "Thankyou sir, I'll try my best," he said, feeling a little childish. He pictured Bush for a split second, and wondered what his reaction would have been if he had seen Ryko become TAC/SC in such a short space of time. Ryko seated himself and paid attention, along with the others as Sevant's tone became serious. "Now, onto business. We have received some general orders while we shake-down from our latest repair efforts. According to the yards, our ship is now ship-shape in Bristol fashion. Unofficially, there are always bugs to work out after coming from space-dock, and we had more then simple battle-damage to repair. Whole sections of the ship were mass-replaced from the extensive invasion damage, including the bridge module." He looked around again, "We will be on a mapping mission, nothing to stressful. There are a prodigious amount of subspace anomalies, naked singularities and multi-singularities in the area, along with an exceptionally thick mix of back-holes and the resulting clutter or space-junk that comes from such powerful gravitational forces. We are to map sector 3492 and place floating buoys near the worst of the phenomena. The fun part," he said with as near a grimace as he would show in front of the crew, "is that we are going to be heading back the direction we just came. It's nearly seven months of high-warp travel from here to our old position, outside the river, but until recently the River wasn't being actively scanned with anything more then standard sensors. Its possible, not likely - but possible, that a few ships have come through to spy. IF we run into them, we take them down if we are confident we can do so. Otherwise, our orders are to turn tail and report." Sevant leaned back in the chair, "It is considered unlikely that we will run into anything more dangerous then a few pre-warp civilizations however, if that. The chances of a system capable of sustaining advanced life in the briar-patch of anomalies we will be mapping is something on the order of a trillion to one." I want a departmental status report by 1300, we depart then. Any problems are to be reported immediately." He looked at the CEO, "We go off external power at 1000 hours. He looked at the Marines and Security Chiefs next, "The same goes for you all, in a more round-about way. This mission should give us some down-time before we go into combat again, I want the Marines and Security working together for both internal invasion and another meeting with those beasts. Security has presidence onboard, Marines for off-ship." Spider did nothing more then nod in response. Ryko nodded, and suddenly found a bigger reason for bringing his collection aboard than just for decoration. "Alright then," Sevant said as he put his hands flat on the table. "Are there any questions, concerns, or anything that should be brought to my attention?" Ryko remained silent and waited for anyone who did have issues. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca – Observation Lounge – 0755) She made her way to the Observation lounge, with a raktajino in her hand, she needed that jolt of cafeine. There was already people there and she sat at her place just giving smiles to everyone. The captain started soon after. She listen to promotion news, she was happy for Kestra and hope she is happy too, it was a big step. What happen to the crew with those spiders was ruff and hard and this might just help give the crew a boost. She was surprise to see her name come up. "Lieutenant Schafio, front and center." Yalta paused for a split second and got up, cut a glimpse at Skylynx and gave him a smile. “Yes Sir!” She made her way to the Captain. Sevant looked at her for a moment, and pulled out another small medal. This one didn't have a lapel pin, so there was nothing to actually pin on, but he opened it up and handed it to her. "In recognition of the work you did with the invading psi-ders, above and beyond your normal calling, I present you with a Captains Commendation." “I thank you Sir!” She came back to her seat with a corner smile on her face, true that she worked very hard during those days. After all the promotion, it was time for cold hard business. There was things that needed to be done. Sevant looked at Operations next, "Our Conn records are to be encoded once we are away from the yards, set to erase at a command. The location of Spacedock Phoenix is still ultra-secret, we will be only the second ship to clear them." “I have started with what we have so far, and I will set up a program for a complet erase on command.” The Captain then turned his attention to the new CSO/2O. "Only one warp probe has ever passed the area we are going to go, its data has already been loaded into the Boudicca's core for your review. I expect you and CONN to work out a preliminary mapping survey, and don't be afraid to add a few hours to study something you consider special. We have several weeks for this survey, unless an emergency comes up." “I will study it with a fine tooth comb. Make sure that we are not missing anything.” Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - CMO Lt(jg) Christopher McQuade - 0758) Chris did not want to be late to his first staff meeting under this captain, but, had also not want to be the first to arrive. He arrived fashionably and walked to a chair that he thought would be the CMOs from the times he had been at meetings on other ships. Not long after he got comfortable, the captain arrived with whom he thought to be the First Officer, Commander Grailik. Chris watched Sevant walk into the room to nodd to everyone in general and stood at the head of the table. Sevant had put down a few PADDs and other things as he stood there looking around the room. After a few moments, he started to speak. "As you know, I've been off for two weeks, and we've received our orders. The ship has been completed and we are due to leave this afternoon, so if there is anything at the Starbase you need, grab it." He looked around for a moment, "I've also had time to confer with the fleet admiral and look over my notes, so before I begin..." Chris watched as Sevant then gestured to him, "This is Lieutenant Christopher McQuade. Ms Troi, our previous Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer has been reassigned to the USS Nimitz as First Officer. Mr. McQuade is her replacement." Chris stood for a moment, so, that everyone could see him as he looked around the room. "I am very glad to be here and hope that I fill her shoes adquately. Thank you Sir." he said to Sevant as he sat back down. He then listened to everything that Sevant said and watched what he did. Some people recieved medals and other recieved promotion also. From what Chris had been told by Ms. Troi, each one deserved what they recieved from their actions in the midst of battle. Until the Marines stood and recieved their medals, Chris had never seen anyone ever get awarded the Cross of Fire. They had to have really been the center of battle for the ship to survive to recieve them. Chris wondered if he would be able to do that when the call came. He hoped it would never come to that. Chris continued to listen to what they recieved and what they had to say. To hear what they did to recieve the medal made Chris honored to be on a ship with crew of this magnatude. After all the medals and promotions had been given out, Sevant then turned to the business of what their orders were. This is where Chris really paid attention. "Now, onto business. We have received some general orders while we shake-down from our latest repair efforts. According to the yards, our ship is now ship-shape in Bristol fashion. Unofficially, there are always bugs to work out after coming from space-dock, and we had more then simple battle-damage to repair. Whole sections of the ship were mass-replaced from the extensive invasion damage, including the bridge module." He said after folding his hands together as he looked at everyone around the table. Pausing to look at everyone again, "We will be on a mapping mission, nothing to stressful. The chances of a system capable of sustaining advanced life in the briar-patch of anomalies we will be mapping is something on the order of a trillion to one. I want a departmental status report by 1300, we depart then. Any problems are to be reported immediately." He looked at the CEO, "We go off external power at 1000 hours, I have been informed by the yards that the ship passed all her other tests, and that the core checked out as well. Do you foresee any problems?" Chris listened to what all the departments had to say about what problems if there was any they had. Then the captain turned to him, "We have retained all records of the psi-ders that we battled earlier, I want you to work with science and engineering, or whomever else you can, to see if there is any way to block the effects of those machines. We are heading back in that direction, and though the chances are remote, I would say its impossible we could run into those things again." As the captain turned his gaze and attention to the counselor, Chris thought about what Kestra had told him. He already knew that they had retained all the information and that he was still trying to work with the departments that were mentioned. He did have an observation to share, so, after the captain had finished with the counselor, he stood up. "Sir, if I may. With respect to the 'psi-ders' as they are called, I would suggest that everyone be tested for any signs of telepathic abilities or any other abilities that might attract the creatures. Also, once this information is attained, their names put on a list to be administered a suppression drug. This would, I think, stop each person from being a target. That way the marines would be able to dispatch the creatures easier, possibly." he sat down waiting for any remarks to what he had said. After the marines had their turn to say what was on their minds, Sevant placed his hands flat on the table, "Alright then, Are there any questions, concerns, or anything that should be brought to my attention?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Capt Sevant - 0800) Sevant walked into the room at the stroke of 0800 hours with Commander Grailik flanking him. Everyone was present, and Sevant nodded to the room in general as he walked to the head of the table. While Grailik sat down, he put a few PADDS and a couple other baubles on the table in front of him, he didn't sit down himself. "As you know, I've been off for two weeks, and we've received our orders. He gestured to the one new officer at the table, "This is Lieutenant Christopher McQuade. Ms Troi, our previous Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer has been reassigned to the USS Nimitz as First Officer. Mr. McQuade is her replacement." (reply: CMO, any) Sevant nodded and he paused long enough to pick up a PADD. I will not be placing it on you myself unless you wish it." (reply: any, If desired) He took up another PADD, "And now, in order or rank..." he said as he looked over. "Major Straton and Lieutenant Major Drizzt, front and center." Both Marines stood and walked over. Sevant took two of the small containers and opened them up. "For gallantry and going above and beyond the call of duty on both the Backtron and as serving as bait on the Boudicca during the invasion, I award you both the Cross of Fire." He opened up the containers, inside were two small metallic medals. One was a lapel pin, the other the actual medal for a Dress uniform. Sevant took out the lapel pin and pinned it on the Major, followed by the Lieutenant major after he had opened the second medal container. He handed both of them their full medals immediately afterwards. "Congratulations." Drizzt, his face unreadable, snapped to attention. "Sir!" (reply: Straton) Both Marines returned to their seats, Sevant turned back, this time not needing to look at the PADD. "Lieutenant Schafio, front and center." (reply: Schafio) Sevant looked at her for a moment, and pulled out another small medal. This one didn't have a lapel pin, so there was nothing to actually pin on, but he opened it up and handed it to her. "In recognition of the work you did with the invading psi-ders, above and beyond your normal calling, I present you with a Captains Commendation." (reply: Schafio) Sevant nodded and picked up another special-coded box. "Lieutenant West." he called out, not needing to add that he wanted them in front of him. (reply: West) Sevant looked at him for several moments, his mind flashed back to the time on the USS Athene, during rescue operations, that the Engineer had been trapped under a piece of support structure that had been ripped from the bulkheads. The engineer was good, he seemed to be plagued with a streak of un-luck however. Sevant opened up the box and pulled out the lapel pin of this medal, and carefully pinned it on his neck. He handed over the dress-medal as he said "Mr. West, in light of your injuries in combat on the Boudicca, I hereby award you with the Ribbon of Sacrifice." (reply: West) NRPG: The Purple Heart, Wounded Lion, its called a lot of things in the world. I like to think of it as a Marksmanship medal for the enemy *grins evilly* RPG: Once he was done with that, he looked at the list again. "Ensign Enaj, front and center." (reply: Enaj) Sevant looked up at the new ensign, just a few months in the fleet and already in the deep midst of the civil war. He pulled out a small package and opened it, then slowly pulled out a solid pip. "Ms Enaj, I hereby promote you to Ensign Senior Grade." He reached up and popped the hollow pip, and then quickly secured the solid-gold in its stead. He nodded to the woman once he was done, "Congratulations." (reply: Enaj) "Ensign Rin." he said once Enaj had sat down. He looked at the scientist as he walked up. Sevant picked up a small container, just like the one he had used with Enaj, and opened it. "Ensign Rin, I have three things for you. First, you are hereby promoted to Ensign Senior Grade." He did the same with Rin as he had with Enaj and placed the pip in place. Once that was done he closed the package and set it down. "Secondly, I name you as Chief Science Officer with all rights and responsibilities forthwith." He picked up a PADD, "As well, you are also made Acting Second Officer, which will be made official once I decide you are fully fit for the task and are trained as such." (reply: Rin) "And finally, Ensign Skylynx, stand front and center." (Reply Sky) "Mr. Skylnx, I also bestow unto you the rank of Ensign Senior Grade." He grabbed the last of the pip-boxes, and did the same for him that he had done for the last two officers." He put the box down quietly, "As you know, our Security Chief was killed in battle. You have been filling his duties since then, today it is official. I hereby name you as the Security Chief of the Boudicca, serve her well and she will surely do the same for you." (reply: Skylynx) Sevant watched the Ensign sit down, and remembered when he had been in much the same position here on the Boudicca. Kaneshiro, how long had it been since he had thought of that officer? Sevant mused for a moment, about paths taken and others denied. He shook himself out of his reverie after a few moments however and pulled up a seat. He folded his hands together and looked at everyone around the table. "Now, onto business. We have received some general orders while we shake-down from our latest repair efforts. According to the yards, our ship is now ship-shape in Bristol fashion. Unofficially, there are always bugs to work out after coming from space-dock, and we had more then simple battle-damage to repair. He looked at the CEO, "We go off external power at 1000 hours, I have been informed by the yards that the ship passed all her other tests, and that the core checked out as well. "Only one warp probe has ever passed the area we are going to go, its data has already been loaded into the Boudicca's core for your review. I expect you and CONN to work out a preliminary mapping survey, and don't be afraid to add a few hours to study something you consider special. We have several weeks for this survey, unless an emergency comes up." (reply: Rin, Schafio) He then looked at the new Doctor, whom he had introduced earlier. "We have retained all records of the psi-ders that we battled earlier, I want you to work with science and engineering, or whomever else you can, to see if there is any way to block the effects of those machines. We are heading back in that direction, and though the chances are remote, I would say its impossible we could run into those things again." He turned his gaze slightly to look at the Counsellor. "You as well will be in on this project, since it seems they are well-aware of telpathy. You and Major Straton are the two most powerful and qualified telepaths on the ship." (reply: McQuade, Alizara, Straton if desired) He looked at the Marines and Security Chiefs next, "The same goes for you all, in a more round-about way. This mission should give us some down-time before we go into combat again, I want the Marines and Security working together for both internal invasion and another meeting with those beasts. Security has presidence onboard, Marines for off-ship." Spider did nothing more then nod in response. (reply: Skylynx, Fredericks, Straton) "Alright then," Sevant said as he put his hands flat on the table. "Are there any questions, concerns, or anything that should be brought to my attention?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca- Bridge- Tactical- Ensign (jg) John Fredericks- 0800) John would have liked to have attended the meeting but someone needed to remain at station and he was the lower in seniority, besides it gave him more time on the bridge and on the TAC station. Things were going as normal today it seemed with nothing out of the ordinary. Finding him self with a little free time John thought it wouldn’t hurt to run a quick diagnostic on the tactical station. =/\= Computer, run a level 5 diagnostic on the tactical systems please.=/\= In less than 3 seconds the computer came back with the results John had been expecting. Everything was running well within the specs. ~That’s ok though~, thought John. ~It never hurts to have it verified~. John enjoyed being on the bridge and still being somewhat new always seemed to find something different when he came on duty although all this was probably old hat to the rest of the bridge crew. He thought about writing to his family to let them know what all had happened but would need to check with his Dept head to be sure he didn’t cross any security issues. He would have to check with Skylynx though to see who the new head of the Dept was since the last one had been killed. Skylynx was an AST like himself but had been here much longer and had been filling in as TAC officer so he should have all the info John would require. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge – ACSO ENS Vegra Gretud - 0800) Vegra walked into the conference lounge after being called to a staff meeting. "As you know, I've been off for two weeks, and we've received our orders. The ship has been completed and we are due to leave this afternoon, so if there is anything at the Starbase you need, grab it. I've also had time to confer with the fleet admiral and look over my notes, so before I begin..." Said the captain in a dramatic voice. He gestured to the one new officer at the table, "This is Lieutenant Christopher McQuade. Ms Troi, our previous Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer has been reassigned to the USS Nimitz as First Officer. Mr. McQuade is her replacement." Sevent carried on. (Reply: CMO, any) Sevant nodded and he paused long enough to pick up a PADD. "By order of Fleet Admiral LoDona and Captain Sevant, Everyone aboard the USS Boudicca is hereby authorized to wear the Combat Action Ribbon in recognition of their duty on board the Boudicca on Stardate 2406.07.03." said the captain into his padd. ~ Great I was so busy in the fighting I problem didn’t get noticed I don’t expect to get one. ~ "Due to the mass-award nature, you can replicate the lapel pin for your uniform from your replicator. I will not be placing it on you myself unless you wish it." ~Great just what I need yet again no profit for me. ~ He took up another PADD, "And now, in order or rank..." he said as he looked over the padd. "Major Straton and Lieutenant Major Drizzt front and centre." Both Marines stood and walked over. "Lieutenant Schafio, front and centre." (Reply: Schafio) Sevant paused for a second then pulled out another box This one didn't have a lapel pin, so there was nothing to actually pin on, but he opened it up and handed it to her. "In recognition of the work you did with the invading psi-ders, above and beyond your normal calling, I present you with a Captains Commendation." (Reply: Schafio) Sevant nodded and picked up another special-coded box. "Lieutenant West." called out Sevant out. (Reply: West) The Captain opened up the box and pulled out the lapel pin of this medal, and carefully pinned it on his neck. He handed over the dress-medal as he said "Mr. West, in light of your injuries in combat on the Boudicca, I hereby award you with the Ribbon of Sacrifice." (Reply: West) "Ensign Enaj, front and centre." (Reply: Enaj) The captain pulled out a small package and opened it, then slowly pulled out a solid pip. "Ms Enaj, I hereby promote you to Ensign Senior Grade." Sevent reached up and popped the hollow pip, and then quickly secured the solid-gold in its stead. He nodded to the woman once he was done, "Congratulations." (Reply: Enaj) "Ensign Rin." Said the captain once Enaj had sat down. "Secondly, I name you as Chief Science Officer with all rights and responsibilities forthwith." He picked up a PADD, "As well, you are also made Acting Second Officer, which will be made official once I decide you are fully fit for the task and are trained as such." (Reply: Rin) "And finally, Ensign Skylynx, stand front and centre." (Reply Sky) "Mr. I hereby name you as the Security Chief of the Boudicca, serve her well and she will surely do the same for you." (Reply: Skylynx) The "Now, onto business. We have received some general orders while we shakedown from our latest repair efforts. According to the yards, our ship is now ship-shape in Bristol fashion. Unofficially, there are always bugs to work out after coming from space-dock, and we had more then simple battle-damage to repair. Whole sections of the ship were mass-replaced from the extensive invasion damage, including the bridge module." Said the captain. “We will be on a mapping mission, nothing to stressful. Otherwise, our orders are to turn tail and report." Explained the captain. Sevant leaned back in the chair, "It is considered unlikely that we will run into anything more dangerous then a few pre-warp civilizations however, if that. The chances of a system capable of sustaining advanced life in the briar-patch of anomalies we will be mapping are something on the order of a trillion to one." ~Great I come on a shuttle to this stupid ship only to discover I am going back the way I came. It took me several months of cold ration packs on my shuttle to get to Genvas then another 3 to get here. All I want is to be on my ship floating though space. ~ "I want a departmental status report by 1300, we depart then. Any problems are to be reported immediately." He looked at the CEO, "We go off external power at 1000 hours, I have been informed by the yards that the ship passed all her other tests, and that the core checked out as well. Do you foresee any problems?" (Reply: West) Sevant looked at Operations next, "Our Conn records are to be encoded once we are away from the yards, set to erase at a command. The location of Space dock Phoenix is still ultra-secret, we will be only the second ship to clear them." (Reply: Schafio) The Captain then turned his attention to the new CSO/2O. "Are there any questions, concerns, or anything that should be brought to my attention?" “Captain I am curious if my ship is onboard yet and if so I would like to offer our services to the any department needed. Also I would like to have my quarters onboard it to if that is possible please.” Said Vegra. (Reply Sevant) “I understand sir. I am sorry to bring up the delicate matter of are dead comrades but may I ask the funeral services as I would be glad to help a fallen hero.” Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge -COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara - 0800) Domini watched the people be promoted, and watched them all, all except her, get something. She looked down at her hands and tried not to cry. She had spent so much of her time in with the zombies in the last two months, both in link with Kestra, and Eva when she could be spared, but they had made no headway. ~All we did was exhaust ourselves.~ Domini had made notes of their progress, or lack thereof, and had spoken via comm link with both betazoid and vulcan mind-healers, and still no effect. She had even managed to pull strings to get a vulcan mind-healer on board for a few days, and still nothing. In short, she was a failure. ~No wonder the Captain didn't mention me.~ She idly played with a piece of skin on her hands, and was a bit startled at the CMO's recommendations. She had made both back right after the attack, but no one had really listened then, and since then there were more important things to take care of. "Dr. McQuade, I would like to help you with that testing. I have some experience with doing it." She spoke up, her voice quiet, and a little bit shy. She listened as the Captain gave out orders, still being quiet and not looking anyone in the eye. She felt the Captain's gaze briefly on her and she flushed, wondering what he was thinking. ~He's probably thinking how messed up I am and how he wishes he'd have someone better.~ Then she realized he was talking to her, and she flushed again. "Yes, Sir." She said, just acknowledging the order, and not really caring what it was. It didn't matter what they did against the psi-ders, the spiders would still hurt them. ~And I'm a failure.~ She thought. It kept coming back to this, no matter what she did, she couldn't break out of it. Every day of working with the 'zombies' and not accomplishing anything, just made it worse. She realized that she was depressed, and had been depressed since the former security chief had died in her arms. She also realized that there was no one to talk to about it, and that even if there were, they wouldn't care. All of her friends had died at Doenitz's command. And she was all alone out here, stuck on a ship with a sadistic Captain who happened to have a death wish. In the middle of a civil war. She and all her compatriots had been denounced as traitors. And she was a failure, and her Captain had just acknowledged that she was for everyone to see. Yeah, she really was depressed. And most of it was because everyone around her was in the same boat. Ever since the psi-ders, she had lost her filter to block out the empathic aura around her. The mind-healers said it would come back, and she would be as she was before, if not a bit stronger. She just needed time, and patience and some love. Three things she would never get. She was glad when the meeting was over, and was half-locked in her own world, when she heard someone say her name. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Lt jg Trevan West- 0801) Sevant nodded and picked up another special-coded box. "Lieutenant West." he called out, not needing to add that he wanted them in front of him. "Right here sir." replied Trevan and he quickly made his way up to the Captain. Stood at attention and gave a slight tremble at being infront of so many people. Trevan didn't like crowds much, even if they were his crew-mates. Sevant looked at him for several moments, Trevan was wondering what the Captain was doing and was starting to wonder if the Captain was going to yell at him or something. This was taking very long, apparently no-one else noticed this so Trevan just figured it was just his mind again. He looked down and saw that Sevant opened up the box and pulled out the lapel pin of this medal, and carefully pinned it on his neck. He handed over the dress-medal as he said "Mr. West, in light of your injuries in combat on the Boudicca, I hereby award you with the Ribbon of Sacrifice." "Thank you sir. Permission to speak freely sir?" Trevan wanted to lighten the mood a little and figured the Captain would get a kick out of this, considering they have served before. "Thank you sir." "I just wanted to say, it's about bloody time. How many times can I guy get pummeled for his ship and no-one notice?" he said sarcastically. Trevan laughed the loudest out of everyone in the room. He needed to let it all out, all of it and with that Trevan walked back to the rear of the room where the rest of the crew received pins and medals. His ACEO was promoted to Ensign SG. About time as well, he thought to himself. The Captain spoke one last time. "I want a departmental status report by 1300, we depart then. Any problems are to be reported immediately." He looked at the CEO, "We go off external power at 1000 hours, I have been informed by the yards that the ship passed all her other tests, and that the core checked out as well. Do you foresee any problems?" Asked the captain. "No sir. Everything is actually working well for a change." Then as soon as it began, it was over. "Trevan to Chief Harverstaad. Can you meet me in Ten Forward for a quick bite before I go on duty?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 0820) =^=Trevan to Chief Haverstaad. Can you meet me in Ten Forward for a quick bite before I go on duty?=^= Melody paused in what she was doing, then reached over and grabbed her badge. "No, Chief; but you can come to my quarters, I was about ready to rustle up some breakfast." (reply: West) NRPG: I'll assume he says yes. Otherwise, this last part can be killed. RPG: Melody whistled as the connection cut off, then stepped into the small shower that her quarters sported. She ran her hands through her hair with her eyes closed, letting the water run the sleep out of her body. It had been a very long couple of months, she was well used to double shifts anymore. On paper, her department was well in order and her baby was functioning properly. Unofficially, she was a cynic and she wanted to see the Tactical Holographic Systems in full operation first. After several minutes she heard the chime go off, and she called out "Come in." She stepped out of the shower a moment later and grabbed a towel. After carefully wrapping the towel around herself and grabbing a second towel, she stepped outside and into the main living area, which was rather tiny since she was only a Senior Chief. "Lieutenant," she said agreeably as she rubbed down her hair with the second towel. "Hungry?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Capt Sevant - 0802) "This is Lieutenant Christopher McQuade. Ms Troi, our previous Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer has been reassigned to the USS Nimitz as First Officer. Mr. McQuade is her replacement." The CMO stood, "I am very glad to be here and hope that I fill her shoes adequately. Thank you Sir." Sevant nodded and he paused long enough to pick up a PADD. I will not be placing it on you myself unless you wish it." (reply: any, If desired) He went through other promotions, until he had Lieutenant West standing in front of him. "Mr. West, in light of your injuries in combat on the Boudicca, I hereby award you with the Ribbon of Sacrifice." "Thank you sir. Permission to speak freely sir?" Sevant quirked his head slightly, then nodded. "Thank you sir. I just wanted to say, it's about bloody time. How many times can I guy get pummeled for his ship and no-one notice?" NRPG: Anyone who wants to laugh, feel free *chuckles* RPG: Sevant didn't laugh, it wasn't in his repertoire, but others had a good time with it, so he said nothing. This was an informal meeting and everyone was entitled to some humor. He continued with Enaj and Rin, and finished with Skylynx. "Mr. I hereby name you as the Security Chief of the Boudicca, serve her well and she will surely do the same for you." The man went red, there was no other way to put it. "Thank you sir, I'll try my best," Sevant nodded and directed the new Chief to sit. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge – ACSO- Ens Vegra Gretud - 0812) "Captain I am curious if my ship is onboard yet and if so I would like to offer our services to the any department needed. Also I would like to have my quarters onboard it to if that is possible please." Sevant quirked an eyebrow, "As far as I know, Ensign, it was shuttled over earlier and will be loaded aboard." He paused for a few seconds, "In order for you to have your quarters aboard her, she would have to be fully tied into our systems." Said the captain “My shuttle is capable of indirectly interfacing with federation computers threw a subway beacon planted there by me a couple of years ago. Meaning I can contact any computer at any time though it.” (Reply Sevent) "I understand sir. I am sorry to bring up the delicate matter of are dead comrades but may I ask the funeral services as I would be glad to help a fallen hero." "Services were given aboard the Starbase after our arrival, I had not planned on another funeral here." He paused for a few seconds in thought, and then looked over to the Counsellor. "Would services be out of line after this length of time, Counsellor?" said sevent. “Sir I was thinking maybe a statute in the promenade or something to remember them by.” Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Capt Sevant - 0812) Sevant finished speaking to the counselor, and his new CMO stood. The Captain turned his gaze over. That way the marines would be able to dispatch the creatures easier, possibly." Sevant frowned slightly, he was telepathic himself. "I couldn't force that issue unless it became a clear and present danger." he finally said, he looked at the other two strong telepaths, the ones that would be the most effected by this idea. "Thoughts?" (reply: MCO, Couns) After a few more orders had been given, Sevant laid his hands on the table. "Alright then, Are there any questions, concerns, or anything that should be brought to my attention?" The Ferengi ACSO stood, "Captain I am curious if my ship is onboard yet and if so I would like to offer our services to the any department needed. Also I would like to have my quarters onboard it to if that is possible please." Sevant quirked an eyebrow, "As far as I know, Ensign, it was shuttled over earlier and will be loaded aboard." He paused for a few seconds, "In order for you to have your quarters aboard her, she would have to be fully tied into our systems." (reply: if desired) "I understand sir. I am sorry to bring up the delicate matter of are dead comrades but may I ask the funeral services as I would be glad to help a fallen hero." NRPG: Oops. It's been months, though I hadn't posted as much, I assumed services would be given at a far earlier time. Hmmm, but I can work with this. RPG: Sevant leaned back in his chair and considered the Ferengi for a few moments. "Services were given aboard the starbase after our arrival, I had not planned on another funeral here." He paused for a few seconds in thought, then looked over to the Counselor. "Would services be out of line after this length of time, Counselor?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge – TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0813) "Alright then, anything else?" Sevant said, obviously trying to get off the subject. Ryko shook his head. Sevant stood, "Very well then, remember your status reports by 1300. Dismissed." Ryko stood and exited. ~Perfect, more paperwork,~ Ryko thought as he exited. He crossed the bridge to Frederickson's station. "Morning, Ensign," Ryko said as he went to the rear of the tactical station to begin gathering data for the status report. (Reply Frederickson) "Hey, listen, I hope you aren't broke up about that velocity match," Ryko said, noticing the Ensign's mood. (Reply Frederickson) "Forget it. It was a fluke. There's always a next time," he offered as he checked the readouts for anything suspicious. He noticed John back away from the console. "Hey, don't start moving yet, you're still on active duty, I've got a report to write," Ryko said. "Hold on...what's this?" He said as he moved over the sensor logs. "John, have you ran a tactical diagnostic today?" (Reply Frederickson) "Did you pick this up?" He said, moving aside and pointing to a certain area of the diagnostic result. "Seems like there's a thermal problem with the torpedo launchers." (Reply Frederickson) "Still worth making sure everything's okay," he said. He tapped his badge. "Skylynx to engineering." (Reply West / Any in engineering) "We're reading a thermal problem with the forward torpedo launchers, anything you guys can do about it?" (Reply Engineering) "Acknowledged. Skylynx out." He closed the diagnostic and downloaded the report to a padd. "Probably nothing to worry about. We're under the defense net anyway," He said as he moved past. "I've got to get this to the captain. When I come back, I'll take over tactical. When I do take the station, see if you can get to the security office and check on our ferengi friend. He should be off the ship in about...10 minutes. Okay?" Ryko said. (Reply Frederickson) "Alright. See you later, Ensign," Ryko said, as he headed in the direction of Captain Sevant's ready room. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge – ACSO ENS Vegra Gretud - 0813) "My shuttle is capable of indirectly interfacing with federation computers threw a subway beacon planted there by me a couple of years ago. Meaning I can contact any computer at any time though it." Said Vegra "Very well then, liase with Engineering, if there are any issues I want to know about it." Said the captain. "I understand sir. I am sorry to bring up the delicate matter of are dead comrades but may I ask the funeral services as I would be glad to help a fallen hero." Asked Vegra calmly. "Services were given aboard the Starbase after our arrival, I had not planned on another funeral here." There was a second’s pause then the captain spoke again. "Would services be out of line after this length of time, Counsellor?" (Reply: Couns) "Sir I was thinking maybe a statute in the botanical or something to remember them by." The captain paused for much longer this time and then finally nodded. "Alright Ensign, a small memorial in the gardens would not be amiss." Just as Vegra was going to say something the captain put his hand up to stop him. "But the Boudicca has lost far more people then just those to the psi-ders. If a memorial would go up, whatever you do, I would want it dedicated to all her Fallen. The captain turned to the counsellor again "Counsellor Alizara is our closest thing to an expert on this subject, liase with her on your free time." “Thank you sir.” Said Vegra "Alright then, anything else?" (Reply: any) Sevant stood, "Very well then, remember your status reports by 1300. Dismissed." “Ai Sir.” Said Vegra Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Capt Sevant - 0813) "Sir, if I may. That way the marines would be able to dispatch the creatures easier, possibly." Sevant frowned slightly, "I couldn't force that issue unless it became a clear and present danger." he finally said, he looked at the other two strong telepaths, the ones that would be the most effected by this idea. "Thoughts?" "No way in hell will I allow my telepathic abilities to be suppressed," The MCO said, as expected. "Besides, it would be futile. The things are NOT drawn to telepath's alone. They attack any one they detect with a mind. Telepath or not. They just have preferred targets. Telepath's being one. Like attacking the officers and leaders of an enemy. The only way to make yourself not a target is for them to register you as mindless. The only way to do that is to completely absorb a telepathic scan. Only a true telepathic Void could do that. Like him," Sevant turned his head and quirked an eyebrow slightly. That was interesting information, and good to know. He turned his gaze back to the Counselor, "Your thoughts?" (reply: Couns) A little bit later, the Ferengi continued with his conversation about his shuttle. "My shuttle is capable of indirectly interfacing with federation computers threw a subway beacon planted there by me a couple of years ago. Meaning I can contact any computer at any time though it." "Very well then, liaise with Engineering, if there are any issues I want to know about it." "I understand sir. I am sorry to bring up the delicate matter of are dead comrades but may I ask the funeral services as I would be glad to help a fallen hero." "Services were given aboard the Starbase after our arrival, I had not planned on another funeral here." He paused for a few seconds in thought, and then looked over to the Counselor. "Would services be out of line after this length of time, Counselor?" (reply: Couns) "Sir I was thinking maybe a statute in the botanical or something to remember them by." NRPG: Changing one thing here. We don't have a promenade, the only ship that does (that I know of) would be something like the Cochrane... Meredith class, positive monster-sized ships. Changing this to the botanical garden. That gave Sevant a very long moment of pause, it isn't something he would have ever considered. His lips compressed as he considered the request, then he finally nodded. "Alright Ensign, a small memorial in the gardens would not be amiss." He brought up his hand quickly, "But the Boudicca has lost far more people then just those to the psi-ders. If a memorial would go up, whatever you do, I would want it dedicated to all her Fallen." He looked over at the Counselor again, "Counselor Alizara is our closest thing to an expert on this subject, liaise with her on your free time." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca, Observation Lounge, MCO, Major Straton, 0813) Sevant finished speaking to the counselor, and his new CMO stood. The Captain turned his gaze over. "Sir, if I may. "Thoughts?" "No way in hell will I allow my telepathic abilities to be suppressed," Eva said without hesitation, glaring unpleasantly at the new CMO, "Besides, it would be futile. The things are NOT drawn to tellepath's alone. They attack any one they detect with a mind. Tellepath or not. They just have preferred targets. Tellepath's being one. Like attacking the officers and leaders of an enemy. The only way to make yourself not a target is for them to register you as mindless. The only way to do that is to completely absorb a telepathic scan. Only a true telepathic Void could do that. "Like him," She finished, turning her glare on Grailik. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - Lt jg Trevan West & Melody Haverstaad - 0821) Trevan stopped in mid-sentence and saw the Chief standing there in a towel, glistening with water. "Lieutenant," she said agreeably as she rubbed down her hair with the second towel. "Hungry?" Trevan replied, "Uh....yes?" and then proceeded to turn around. Trevan, being a old fashioned gind of guy, even by 20th century standards. "Chief, do you want me to come back when you are um...dressed for the occasion?" Melody wrapped the second towel around her neck and quirked an eyebrow. "I'm not in the nude, so unless you find wet towels erotic, I would say I'm dressed just fine." "Oh well, in that case..." he looked out the window, "You can really see the Omarn Nebula from here, wow." He hoped that his change of subject was not taken personally. Trevan sat down and looked around, carefully avoiding looking behind him. The room was standard fare for a Keltoi, a little small, however, things were very Spartan and tidy. Unlike, Trevan, Melody struck him as a neat freak. "Man, you should see my quarters," Trevan realized his comment may have other meanings and quickly added, "uh, meaning they are a total disaster. You wouldn't be caught dead in them. Personally I would love to beam it all into deep space." The Tactical Senior Chief actually chuckled as she pushed a couple buttons on the replicator, forming a pot of coffee and a couple empty mugs. "Chief, a couple words for you. Relax." She pulled the pot off and grabbed the mugs in one hand, "I'm dressed in a towel, not stiletto heels and tight leather. And unless I'm mistaken, I haven't offered to take you to bed and rape you, so you can feel safe around me." She sat down, legs gently crossed since she was wearing a towel, and poured herself a mug. "If I had a problem with you looking at me in a towel, I wouldn't have come out in one. And if I had other, hmm, licentious plans... I would have come out wearing decidedly less. So, sit down, have some coffee and see if you can distract yourself long enough to stem the flow of those hormones of yours and enjoy your breakfast." She wiggled her eyebrows, then took a sip of her coffee. Trevan took a long, deep breath, closed his eyes for a moment and then proceeded to sit down. He grabbed a cup of coffee and took some fruit from the small platter on the table. "Chief, I would just like to say, again, how much I appreciate you saving my ass. I am glad to see you are recovered. Anyway, I had a question for you." Melody took a sip of the coffee and sat back in the chair, "Go ahead." "Ok, I was thinking last night about the holographic tactical system, and was wondering if it could be adapted for engineering. I would love to have that down there. I would be able to put theories into the program and see for myself in real-time what repairs and modifications I can do." "Hmmm," she said as she put the cup down, "I can lend you the software, making it work would be more up to you though. I'm not an engineer." Trevan un-crossed his legs and placed his elbows on the table and propped up his head. He gazed into Melody's eyes and asked, "Um, can I ask you something a little more personal?" "How come you like my company? I have been wondering about it for weeks now and I can't find an answer. I am just curious, if you don't want to answer, that's alright. You will forgive me, I am not use to this relationship thing. I have been, "out of the loop' for a long time." Melody chuckled as she picked up the cup again, "Because you look good and have a nice rear." she said before taking a sip of her drink. "And there is something to be said about having a man with a tool-belt hanging around." she added with a quirked eyebrow. Trevan sat back looking quite shocked about what that meant, "I'm sorry I asked." he said hanging his head, "I'm not used to being spoken to like that. Not since..." and he broke off into a silent sob. The expression of sadness was probably quite apparent to Melody, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to," he paused sipping his drink, "you know. Be so emotional. You are probably thinking that I am a total mess. I am better with field stripping a warp coil then talking to a woman." Trevan sat there a moment and let that comment sink in, he then started to explain his past. The emotional turmoil that was his life, his fiancé' that was killed, the accident that happened when he was part of the USS Athene rescue, and the subsequent problems that arose from that incident. Melody raised a hand to pause him. "Whoa, tiger, I don't need a history lesson. I'm a tactical chief, not a counselor." She quirked her own head, "Besides, I already know your past, I have complete access to records." "Oh, I wasn't aware you had done such an extensive background check on me. Do you do this to all of your friends?" he asked, and then Trevan smiled for the first time at her. Melody sat back in her chair with her cup of coffee, "Meaning what?" "Oh nothing, it just I never considered you a friend until now. Wow." Trevan bit into his now soggy fruit and juice ran down his uniform, "Crud, I am such a slob." "As long as you don't treat anti-matter in the same way, I think you're covered." she said dryly before taking another sip of coffee. She studied him for a few long moments, rubbing her left hand over the mug slowly, deep in thought. "You know," she finally said. "We are running on borrowed time." She played with the mug as she brought her thoughts together, "You don't strike me as someone that has many attachments anymore, for whatever reason, but we are all going to loose people we know... With as deep into the s*it as we're in. You don't need to carry around baggage from the past, you are going to find more then enough to shoulder in the near future." She held up her mug, almost as if she was passing a toast. "Cheers to that pleasant thought." Trevan nodded his agreement with the statement, raised his glass and took a sip of the soothing liquid. "You know, I have some free holodeck time, I had a new program and was wondering if you would like to join me? I think it may be right up your alley." Melody chuckled, "I think you might be able to convince me." "He's a stowaway," Ryko said, recalling the events from memory. "Bit stupid, too. Tried to use the boudicca to smuggle trilite to some unknown contact on geneva. While he finished out the remainder of this shift he took a few minutes to research the problem he had located in the ships Library. He discovered that the problem, while not wide spread had occurred before in the galaxy classed vessels but was not a major problem. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Deck 3 crew quarters, OPS quarters - TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0900) Ryko dressed at the same time as Yalta. They were definitely into each other, even showering together in her quarters. Time was of the essence, however, and soon they were dressed and prepared to go on duty. Ryko walked out of her quarters with her and couldn't help holding her hand a little longer. "Tonight... it's going to be my treat!" She said has they walked inside the turbolift. "And no buts about it!" Ryko felt excited. It sounded like Yalta had something fun planned. "Can't wait to find out what it is," Ryko said as he fially released her. "Deck 1, bridge," he said, and the turbolift started moving. "At least give me a clue," he said, smiling again. (Reply Yalta) Ryko was intrigued and a little puzzled by her response. Still, it would be fun to find out. He checked his watch. 0910. He was now on active duty. That meant that he had to observe the chain of command. "Well, I'll see you there...sir," Ryko said, as the lift doors opened. He walked slightly ahead of Yalta but winked at her over his shoulder. Not too conspicuous as to break the rules, but friendly enough nonetheless. "Ensign Frederickson, you are relieved," Ryko said as he aproached the tactical console. John was evidently busy. (Reply Frederickson) "Very good, thanks," Ryko said, smiling again. He couldn't really help it. "All shipshape in Bristol fashion?" he asked as he mpved to check the ship's tactical readiness. Obviously they were still under silent running. (Reply Frederickson) "Excellent," Ryko said. "Well, I'll take over if you would excuse me," Ryko said as John moved aside. "Head down to the security office, the general rounds and paperwork are always there," he said as he logged into the console. Ryko looked at his assistant. He looked bored. "It gets better," Ryko said. "Quiet days are something you may come to relish," he said, patting him on the back. "Don't worry, we'll see combat soon enough." Ryko watched John walk away. ~Hope I'm not coming accross as being too hard on him,~ he thought as he turned back to his work. Time would tell. He hoped nothing would go wrong today, it would spoil the surprise Yalta had instore for him. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Bridge, Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 09:15) "Come," Sevant turned in his chair as the doors opened as his security chief walked in and pretended himself. Sevant said nothing as he said, "One tactical status report, sir, ready for review," Sevant took the PADD he was pro-offered and sat back in his chair for a moment. "Everything's shipshape, operating within normal parameters, except for the forward torpedo launchers," Sevant paused in his reading and looked back up. "There seems to be a problem with the loaders, thermal," Ryko said, "I've informed engineering of the problem. The Galaxy-class endured the same thing in its early days. I'm sure it's just a glitch," Sevant frowned slightly and looked back down. "The Boudicca never had that problem before; her launchers were well integrated during her original construction. Inform engineering to make a note of the problem so I can take it up with the yards on our return." "Aye Sir, I'll be on the bridge if needed." The Captain nodded as he put the PADD down on the desk and folded his fingers together. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca-Bridge-Ensign Ryko Skylynx- 09:15) Ryko tapped the chime. It had been months since he'd done that. (reply Sevant) Ryko entered, and presented himself to the captain. Admittedly he was more relaxed than the first time he had been in this room. "One tactical status report, sir, ready for review," he said, handing the captain the padd. He looked very busy. Ryko knew things like this became very trivial. He decided to spare him the boredom. "Everything's shipshape, operating within normal parameters, except for the forward torpedo launchers," Ryko said. He saw Sevant express minor concern. "There seems to be a problem with the loaders, thermal," Ryko said, "I've informed engineering of the problem. The Galaxy-class endured the same thing in its early days. I'm sure it's just a glitch," Ryko said in answer to Sevant's questioning look. He saw the captain turn back to his work. (Reply Sevant) "Aye Sir, I'll be on the bridge if needed." Ryko turned and headed back onto the bridge, where he assumed the tactical station. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca-Bridge Tactical station-ensign (jg) Frederickson-0945) Shortly Ryko returned to the bridge and relieved John to “take care of the Ferrengi”. John took the lift down to deck 12. While enroot he tapped his comm. badge =/\= Fredericks to security. Request an escort at the brig for Daimon Traag. I also need the transport orders and release forms=/\=. John received the acknowledgment and met the security officer at the cell holding the Ferrengi. John and the other security officer escorted the Ferrengi to the transport tube connecting the ship to the dock and released him to the stations security team that had arrived to claim him. John passed the PADD to the officer in charge and had all the transfer details taken care of. “Can’t stay to talk guys John said when the other team started to ask about the Ferrengi, it’s all on the PADD. The ships about to pull out”. John and the guard stepped back in and sealed the door. “Thanks”, said John. As the guard returned to his other duties. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Bridge - OPS Lt. Schafio - 1305) Yalta had came back after diner restored with a good meal, spinash canoli with a tomato and gratin cheese. She look around, everyone seem to be happy enough. She went to her console, not much had changed on it when she heard the Captain's voice. "Operations, report status of the ship for departure." he said, just loud enough to be heard. “All the departments reported ready to go. Engineering reported all systems are go.” Sevant nodded slightly, "Clear all moorings and magnetic grapples." Yalta observed the manouver and detected that they were out. “We are clear of the station Sir!” He turned slightly in the chair as the ship shook itself free of the moorings. "Report any power problems," he said to engineering. (reply: any Engineering on the bridge) HE turned back again, "Put Starbase Phoenix's flight control on the screen." “Starbase Phoenix’s flight control is on main viewer sir.” Said Vegra “This is the USS Boudicca, ready to depart.” The image of a full Lieutenant Commander appeared on the screen. =^=The Boudicca is cleared to depart, departure vectors have been sent to your Flight Control, Good luck and God Speed. =^= Sevant nodded as the screen went dark. Now came the really fun part, "Operations, Tactical and Science, keep all but essential navigational sensors down for two hours, and no tactical scans at all since we are still under the protection of the Defense net; and purge the database of any sensor readings we might record in that time. This location is supposed to remain a secret." “Sensors are offline in 3… 2… 1… We are flying blind Sir. Purging database of all scans form this area. Completed” Said Vegra. “Purging comfirmed!” Said Yalta. "Weapons powered down, tactical sensors offline, phasers to minimum charge," Ryko reported. (reply: Science) Sevant folded his hands together, "Move us beyond the defense net at full impulse and lay in a course for the nearest arm of the subspace river. Put us under cloak and engage warp five once we've cleared the net. Make it so." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Bridge - Capt Sevant - 1305) Sevant crossed his legs and his arms as he looked at the forward viewscreen. They were ready to go, officially. Unofficially, it seemed that activity all around the ship had picked up in anticipation. Sevant listened to everyone and watched those he could from his peripheral vision. The layout of this bridge was just slightly different then the last, it was going to take a bit of getting used to for him. Now, Tactical was well within his forward vision, to his left. Behind him where Tactical used to be, was a mission-ready console. Most of the other departments had stayed about the same, though, that was the only significant change. "Operations, report status of the ship for departure." he said, just loud enough to be heard. (reply: Ops) Sevant nodded slightly, "Clear all moorings and magnetic grapples." Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca -Engineering - Lt jg Trevan West - 1306) Engineering was a flurry of activity, final adjustments to the core were being done, the remaining engineering crew were replacing the wall panels and powering up their stations. Trevan stood in the centre of the engine room with a wide smile on his face, actually, the smile had been there for hours, but now his ship was ready to go. Everything was in place, powered up and the thunder of power resonated throughout the cavernous room. "Engineering to bridge, all systems are powered up and ready to go Captain. Recommend a steady climb up to warp 5 so we can adjust this new core. I don't want to burn out the systems on her first go." (reply Sevent) "Understood sir. West out." he closed the channel. "Crewman, let's bring up the core startup readings on the main screen. I want to watch it." Trevan pointed over to some of the other crewmen in the rear, "Hey, watch what you are doing there. I just fixed that be careful." 'Damn rookies, think they know everything." he thought and shook his head. John had not played to his full extent on the game that he had with Ryko thinking it better to hold off until he felt out the person he was going to be working with. Now he knew that Ryko could take as well as give he could play to his full ability. Not that that would ensure a win since Ryko was good, REAL good. That was alright with John though, better a challenge that stagnation. John headed over to the office and checked the inventory as requested, matched the number of weapons that were in holding to the number listed in the files, noticed some were missing but found them listed in the repair file. The rest were issued out to Security and Command staff. John checked the rest of the small details, found everything to be were it was supposed to be and headed to the hole deck to see if it was available. They might have been in repair for months, but that didn't mean it had been a vacation for them. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Bridge - TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 1330) Ryko was still a little puzzled about the now-fixed thermal problem in the launchers. He was about to run another precursory scan when the tactcal console bleeped. Thinking at first it was an alarm, he turned to find a message from the OPS station. "Perfect," Ryko said to himself as he admired his handywork. A perfect replica. He took a deep breath from the fresh southern air as he congratulated himself on a job well done. "Okay, everything's ready...perfect. Right, show time." He looked at himself. Nothing fancy, just a white lincoln shirt over his uniform trousers. He took one last minute glance. Nope. Everything was fine. "Computer, Locate Lt. Schafio," he said, not expecting the computer's response. [Lt., Schafio is outside holodeck 2] Ryko felt a pang of guilt and anxiety. He shook it off and ordered the exit arch. He stepped outside to find Yalta leaning against the wall. She was observing the same dress code he was. Ryko smiled. The two hadn't talked that much, so intuition had played a fair part. She didn't seem to notice him at first. "You look stunning," He said as he approached her. Yalta was deep in thought and it took her a moment to realise the holodeck door had opened. "Thank you... I didn't wait long!" "I have a confession to make," Ryko said, slightly embarrassed. "I Got here about 30 minutes ago. I needed to make sure everything was just so." "I wasn't sure where you were... true that I didn't ask the computer about you." She smiled and stepped inside the holodeck. "It looks great!" Ryko cast a glance around the airy wooden deck. It was set in lush gardens. "I hoped you'd like it," he said, and stepped up to her side. "Shall we?" He offered, manners weren't normally his forte, but Yalta was a lady, and one always made exceptions in such matters. "Your table awaits, my lady," he said, leading her to the outer deck. "Yes." Yalta let herself be guided to a table and chair over a small balcony. The view was wonderful. "Where are we? I mean... where did you reproduce?" She smiled and sat at one chair. "We're in the very heart of Ilaxia II, in the southern continent, famous for its relaxing atmosphere, and beautiful views," Ryko said as he sat opposite her. He looked at Yalta. "But to tell the truth, I think I'm already looking at the best of them," he said, feeling this was a slightly bold move. Yalta felt a heat wave reaching her face and imagine that it was probably a bit red. Her eyes turn toward the view, a bit shyly and return her gaze toward Ryko. "You are pleasant to look at too." She then change the subject for the simple reason that her stomach was growling. "I wonder what we will eat? Is there a menu?" For a second Ryko found it hard to turn away. "Yes, here," Ryko said, handing her one of the small silver booklets. "I'm told this place does an excellent seafood dish, if you're in the mood," he said, as he browsed the menu. ~Just what I'm in the mood for~ Yalta lowered her eyes to the menu and everything look so yummy. "Humm, everything seem so good. Ok. I will have the grill tuna, with the five spices, and the side dish of past alfreda. The white chardonet, and a piece of chocolat cake, the 3 sort kind please." The waiter nodded, took their menus and disappeared. He glanced out across the grounds and inhaled. Fresh, Ilaxian air. Ryko turned back to Yalta. "Seems we have more than injuries and tough childhoods in common," he said as he relaxed. "I know... I was thinking about that earlier!" The air had a very light flower smell and it was very relaxing and pleasing. Ryko laughed. ~We definitely have more in common than similar backgrounds.~ "So tell me, how did you come to like Chardonnay?" he said, smiling and sitting up, resting his arms on the table. "Don't laugh... summer vacation, 3rd academy year. I had a couple of friends and we went to France. So we did a few taste tests... I also love champagne but it kind of has a weird reaction with me." She lean a bit forward to rest her forearms on the table. Ryko listened closer. "Wierd reaction? You mean it makes you hyper?" he asked, smiling, "I got the same thing when I tried Romulan Ale, let's say I know now why it's illegal." "Yes, that's what it does... I get hyper." She chuckled. "I never tried Romulan Ale!" Ryko laughed along with her. "It's one of those things you don't easily forget," he said. "You take one sip and already you feel like you're invincible. One of the other people there actually tried to test this theory and ended up falling over his own feet. Needless to say, I've tried to avoid that particular problem," he said. This was a good night. It was fun. "One thing I have learned over the years, though, is never to allow yourself to get drunk when you've got a final exam next day. I'm lucky I passed that thing, as I recall half of my answers were illegible," he said, laughing and miming a drunken scrawl. "I never got drunk... at the exception of that summer. Don't laugh, I never told anyone about this. I think I had emptied an entire bottle of champagne and in the morning found myself at the beach... wearing nothing and being alone." Ryko didn't laugh, but he couldn't help a smile, and for the briefest flash of a second a picture of a naked Yalta Schafio lying on a beach played through his mind. "Now that is a messed up situation," he said, considering nothing like it had every really happened to him. "No one saw you, did they?" he said, hoping she wouldn't take it the wrong way. "I walked about 3 kilometers to get to are beach house, everyone was sleeping the champagne off. On the way, I found my clothes, spread out, by the time I got there, I was dressed." She blushed. "I'm not shy about my body, it's well tone... but it was early enough that I didn't meet anyone." "That's incredible," Ryko said, impressed. "Only in your third year, and you weren't afraid to walk across an open beach to find your way back to your lodge, all the time stark naked?" he asked. Yalta nodded. "Wow," he said, simply because he was finding anything else hard to say. "I'm glad I was never landed in that situation, but i did have one close to it," he offered as the food arrived. "It was in my second year at the academy, during summer vacation. I was out in the open air with a few friends from my dorm group, and one of them managed to somehow lose his slacks. Being a carolina native, I'd always been taught to look after others, so I stood in the middle of a park and gave this guy my slacks, which left me in only my shorts to walk back to the academy. He laughed at the memory. "You should have seen Boothby's face. He was totally stumped. He didn't even say anything. And to make matters worse, it was a cold day." Yalta couldn't help but laugh and had mentally an image of how he look like. When the food came in she look at her plate landing in front of her. "Alright... yours is worst... me, it was a hot day." Ryko eventually calmed down. "Nah, yours is worst, you had no clothes," he said, as the two shared a few moments simply laughing. Ryko took his meal from the waiter and thanked him for his service. He took hold of the crab and snapped the nipper off. It tasted wonderful. "Mm, good crab," he said, wiping his hands on a napkin. "How's yours?" He asked as Yalta recieved her tuna. "It melts in my mouth and I'm so hungry!" She smiled and dare to say. "Want a taste?" She pocked a piece of it on her fork. "Please," Ryko obliged, and took a bite of the spiced tuna from the fork offered to him. "Oh, yeah, that's good," he said, savouring the myriad flavours. "You want to try some of this?" he said, using the provided garnishes to make a "crab kebab" on a cocktail stick. "Yes please!" She took the stick and smile at the taste. "That is good!" "Yeah, they do good fish," Ryko said, smiling and happy to see that Yalta was enjoying herself. "Let's try that chardonnay, huh?" Ryko said as he motioned for the large bottle sitting happily in its Iced bucket. "Yes... before we finish this very good diner. Euh will you open it?" Yalta said. "Sure," Ryko said, taking hold of the bottle. He stuck the corkscrew into the cap and pulled it out. A small amount of vapour escaped its neck. He poured a glass for Yalta and then himself. Placing the bottle down, he picked up the glass and leaned forward. He looked at Yalta and spoke quietly. "Yalta Schafio, you are far and away the most intriguing, interesting and funny person I have ever met," he said, as he continued. "Here's to new friendships, and shared futures," he said, toasting her with the traditional "clink" of glasses. "Cheers," he said, smiling. The toast created all sort of emotions and she could only say. "Cheers! To shared futures and friendships." Ryko sipped from the chardonnay. Like everything else in this almost-perfect evening, it was beautiful. he looked at Yalta again as she tasted her own glass of wine. She truly was an amazing woman. He already found himself developing strong feelings for her. "Can I ask you something?" he said as she finished. The dinner plate was clean and she lean back slowy sipping her wine, giving a few looks toward Ryko. "Go right ahead?" "The day I first saw you, when we went to check that glitch in the memory core, I already liked you. Did you feel the same way about me?" he said, hesitating a little. This was kind of a leading question. Yalta was wondering when that question would arrive, she knew that in every starting relationship that was a question asked. "I found you attractive and I did know in me that I could trust you... not like anyone of the crew, but real trust." Ryko was relieved and felt warmed at Yalta's response. Finally, a true friend. "If anything, it was that link that made me carry you through all those corridors just to get you to sickbay," Ryko said, "If I hadn't, maybe this might not have happened. This is gonna sound wierd but, in retrospect, I'm almost glad you got hurt, because it gave me the chance to get to know you, not just as a collegue but as a friend." He looked down. "I suppose it may be okay to say this, but I do hope that in time we can become more than friends," he offered, the feeling of embarrassment returning for a moment. "It is alright to say that... in time I wish the same thing." She blush a little more and finished her glass of wine. "Do those paths lead anywhere? The walking paths of this park." She pointed in the direction of one near by. Ryko stopped, barely an inch from touching her hand. He looked out. "Yeah, that one goes to a small lake, the other to a secluded glade," Ryko said. "I tried to make it as authentic as possible. Do you want to go for a walk?" he offered, looking at her again. "After this diner... I need it. I don't know which to choose now, both are inviting!" Yalta said. Ryko could see Yalta's eyes were alight with excitement. "Well, the lake offers quite amazing views at sunset," Ryko said, "whereas the glade becomes almost magically lit by moonlight," he finished. She was looking at the routes but Ryko never took his eyes off her. "The glade!" She smiled. Ryko returned the smile. "The glade it is," he said, taking her hand and standing up. He offered her his arm. Yalta took his arm, it was warm to the touch. She look at the beautiful plants and trees the coverage left just enough light to see the path. "It's really beautiful here... I like it. It's calm and quiet." "When I was a kid, I actually visited the real thing," Ryko said, as the two linked arms and began wandering through the shaded path towards the glade. "It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw...that is, until now," he said. "I could fall asleep here, it's so relaxing. Tell you the truth, sleeping under the stars is one of my favorite things to do," Yalta said dreamily. "Well, I don't think that the crew would really like us hogging the holodeck for all that time," Ryko said, laughing a little, but i have the next best thing. Close your eyes," he said, as he led her through the narrow path. Yalta closed her eyes and held on to Ryko with an amused smile on her face. "Okay!" "No peeking," he said, "stay close." He knew the second part of that sentence was unnecessary, but he said it all the same. He could feel Yalta resisting the temptation to jump up and down. He led her further on, until they reached a small grassy clearing, lit by the glades and reflections of moonlight. There were fireflies playing in the canopy, and on the grass two wooden recliners stood waiting for them."Okay," Ryko said as he led her to the spot, "Open your eyes." Yalta let go of Ryko's arm and walk further in, this place was truly magical. "Wow!" The moonlight was shining throught the leave. She sat on one of the recliners and make the back fall a little to have a view of the tree canopy and the fireflies. "It's so beautiful. If we get to that planet, I will go visit this place, if not stay for a week." "You bet," Ryko said, "and we can take those with us," he said. "Those are real beachwood recliners. I made them myself," he said, thus explaining why he hadn't had much contact with anyone outside of his duty hours. "They are comfortable!" She lift her arms and put her hands behind her head. She realised that work was the very last thing on her mind and she pushed that thought even further. "I think I will call this a micro vacation." She turn her head toward Ryko, winked at him and smiled has she return her gaze toward the trees. "So long as you're enjoying yourself, I'm happy," He noticed the wink and returned it by allowing his gaze to drift down to the foot of her recliner and a small blanket folded at the ground in front of it. "I am enjoying myself... it's been a long time since I did," Yalta said happily. "Then let me make it even more enjoyable," Ryko said. He hadn't been planning on serenading Yalta but it felt right. "Computer, summon one guitar, fender 1989 acoustic replica, use the one in my quarters as a template," Ryko said. Seconds later the computer complied and a holographic guitar appeared in front of him. He picked it up and played absently. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm a little rusty," Ryko said, as he brushed lightly over the strings. He put his hands into the right position and began to play a quiet, gentle tune, a song he had written years before. Yalta was a bit surprised but said nothing. She heard once a guitar play and she did like the sound of it. Ryko played the same tune for about ten minutes, never looking away from Yalta, as the fireflies danced around the glade. To him, and he was sure, to her as well, it was almost an eternity. She listen to his voice and it had a strange effect on her and a feeling that there was no time, it didn't exist anymore at least for that moment. "That is the first time someone ever sang to me," she said as Ryko finished. Ryko felt elated. "It was my honour and privilege to be the first to serenade you," he said, with an almost ancient-earth bow. "Serenade... That is Spanish... right?" Yalta said from her recliner. Ryko smiled. "Yes, actually. But it sounds like it should be french. Either way, it matches the mood of this moment," he said, surprising himelf a little by how in-depth this was. "Yes... that is true." Her hand found it's way in his hand and that felt very right also. "Let's watch this for a moment, even if time doesn't exist right now." Ryko felt Yalta's hand grip his and suddenly time slowed to a total stop. He looked deeply into her eyes and felt the beginnings of a strong bond forming between them. He felt an increasing urge to get closer to her, but he was unsure whether it was the right thing to do. He leaned over his recliner edge until their faces were almost touching. ~This is the greatest moment of my life,~ he thought to himself. " I must be the luckiest man in the galaxy to have someone as amazing as you for company, in the most beautiful setting i could imagine," he said quietly. He could feel Yalta breathing. It was surprising and wonderful to feel this way, and when he leaned toward her and they could feel each other. She freed her other hand and lay it on his shoulder, there was that energy and it was exciting. "I feel the same way too Ryko. I don't think I felt like that before, not this strong." Ryko felt a strength build up inside him. He knew this was the right moment. He leaned forward and kissed Yalta passionately, gently caressing her cheek as the feeling grew stronger all the time. Yalta let herself melt away in that kiss and she was surprised that despite his bulk, he was so gentle, yet she knew that he was. Once the kiss was over, she just let her eyes remain closed for a moment, savouring it, when she opened her eyes, he was there looking at her with that smile. "I know how this date would go, I wanted that." She passed her hand through his hair. "I have dreamed of that moment ever since the day I first saw you, Yalta. You make me feel like I am soaring among the stars. Ever since that day when I picked you up and carried you, when I stood by your bedside, I hoped that we would be together. I know I may be rushing into this a little but I can't keep it hidden any more. I love you," Ryko said, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close to him. He kissed her again, and let himself become lost in the paradise she brought him to. The second kiss was better then the first, has she held him closer. She wasn't feeling rush, on the contrary, it felt natural and wonderful. Once the kiss was over, she wispered in his ear. "Now, what will be next... I can tell you that I don't feel rushed into this!" Ryko unbuttoned the first button of her shirt. "If you feel this is right, it's good enough for me," he said as his hand drifted further down her shirt. Yalta smiled. "I think the grass is better... I can be energetic and maybe too much for those recliners to handle." Yalta said as they looked each other, and suddenly they started to laugh. They abandoned the recliners, and as they did so, only one thought passed through both of their minds. ~This is definitely going to be an unforgettable night~ Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca - Outside holodeck 2 - OPS Lt. Schafio - 1800) Yalta arrive right on time outside the holodeck but there was no one there. She decided to wait, since she left work, she decided to get changed which basically just change the top of her uniform for a for a nice silk shirt, light blue. ~Wonder what he is doing.... maybe he is inside. Should I go inside, maybe not, if he cooked up a surprise, I would just ruin it.~ Yalta look at the door, leaning against the oposite wall. ~Humm, he went through a lot, he got burn, I hope he is alright... Silly, of course he is alright, or the doctor wouldn't have let him out.~ She got a sudden shill just at the thought of those spiders soon she would have to pass some test. ~Wonder what the science lab has uncovered about them, I also wonder if my tweaking made them move forward or was just a waist of time. I might never know that one.~ She look on either side. ~I'm getting hungry here... where is he?~ Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Quarters - COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara - 1815) Domini was, to say, bored. She thought over most of the people, who had paired off already, and wasn't really interested in any of them. The one that did introduce her, however was Mr. Drizzt. Since working with Eva, the marines tended to draw her attentions. ~I would make a horrible marine.~ She thought to herself, getting up and deciding that she was being decidedly un-Counsellor-like in her isolation. She got up and began to wander the halls, ending up, unsurprisingly outside the Marine XO's Quarters. She rang the chime and took a deep breath. "Uh, hi." She said, feeling a little bit bizarre. " I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me. " She realized that she was blushing. "Oh, I'm the Counsellor, btw." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - Major 'Spider' Drizzt - 1825) Spider's antenna twitched slightly as he ran his hand down the blade he was currently looking at. He made a point, once a month, of polishing his small collection of antique weaponry, at least until they gleamed. His topless form was covered in a light sheen of sweat from the heavy humidity and temperature of the quarters, something approximating his home planets own climate. He was only wearing a pair of Marine issue pants, and that only because he could grab a tunic-top and be out the door in moments should they have to go to duty, even if it was highly unlikely he would be doing so this close and far into their new friendly territory. The only times he was ever fully out of uniform is when he was on vacation. Gently he replaced the blade in its sealed case on the wall and closed the lid, letting the light bounce off the folded steel and throw beams of light into various corners. The ring of his door chime interrupted his reflection, but he inwardly shrugged. It was probably a Marine, or a few marines, wanting to get together for some sort of competition or other relaxation. The Marines were fairly relaxed right now, the first time they had been able too since they had come onboard the Boudicca. After all the training that Spider had been running them through, a few days out of the head-space would do them all some good. He punched the button and the door slid open, but it was most certainly not one of his Marines. Instead, it was one of the last people in the world he would have expected. "Uh, hi." She said, with a slight blush coloring her cheeks "I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me. Oh, I'm the Counselor, by the way." "I'm aware," he said in a deceptively low and gentle voice. He briefly considered that he was still nude from the waist up, "Come in for a moment," he said with a small grin as he gestured to himself. "I doubt our local establishments would allow me like this." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - Major Drizzt - 1827) "Among Betazoids it is considered rude to not show ones appreciation for another's body. Among humans, though, it is considered .... I don't know, rude to even look. And I don't know what the Andorian custom is." Drizzt pulled on his SDU top and gave it a tug to get it fully into position. His antennas twitched again as he looked down to make sure he was fully in order. "I take it that I was not the person that you expected to appear at your door." The Andorian looked at her, using all of his senses to 'look' in her direction. He didn't know this woman, he was getting a few interesting signals from her. The antenna weren't just for show, after all. "I wasn't expecting anyone in particular, but it isn't often that I get anyone but Marines at my door. Hence, no shirt is perfectly acceptable in greeting." He said as he slid a shoulder-holster over his arms and connected it, "I am dressed, not that you had to turn. Regardless of whatever cultural bias I might have as an Andorian, one doesn't live long as a Marine without becoming at least slightly desensitized to various species in all levels of dress... or lack there of." He said, as he secured the Marine Sidearm into it. The entire rig wasn't particularly noticeable, but it was easy to grab a phaser this way, and more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Senior Marines and Security never were without weapons, after all. "So," he said lightly. "What do you have in mind?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara- 1827) "I'm aware, Come in for a moment," he said with a small grin as he gestured to himself. "I doubt our local establishments would allow me like this." Domini took the two steps forward, and let the door close behind her. The room was hot and humid and smelled of something she couldn't quite identify. It was relaxing, and at the same time quite stimulating. As the Andorian gestured to himself, Domini realized that he had quite a set of muscles in that chest. She smiled, letting the smile touch her eyes, showing her pleasure at the way he looked. She very politely then did turn her back. "Among Betazoids it is considered rude to not show ones appreciation for another's body. Among humans, though, it is considered .... I don't know, rude to even look. And I don't know what the Andorian custom is." She said, one eyebrow raised, changing the subject. "I take it that I was not the person that you expected to appear at your door." She said, her blonde curls tickling the back of her neck. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara- 1831) "I wasn't expecting anyone in particular, but it isn't often that I get anyone but Marines at my door. Hence, no shirt is perfectly acceptable in greeting." He said as he slid a shoulder-holster over his arms and connected it, "I am dressed, not that you had to turn. Regardless of whatever cultural bias I might have as an Andorian, one doesn't live long as a Marine without becoming at least slightly desensitized to various species in all levels of dress... or lack there of." "So," he said lightly. "What do you have in mind?" Domini turned back around. "In uniform, so to speak?" She asked, pouting slightly. "What did I have in mind... Well, to be honest I was bored and lonely, and so I started wandering the hallways and ended up here." She said in a 3/4 truth. "And you seemed interesting." She finished, again not telling the entire truth. "From all the time over the last couple of months spent working with Eva, I've learned a little about the marines." She stammered, rambling as she looked down at her hands, which were shaking a little in nervousness. ~Stop it Domini!~ She thought to herself. ~You are not some sweaty palmed youngster asking out his first date!~ Except, she realized with a sinking heart, that her palms were sweaty and this was the first time that she had ever asked anyone out. "This is the first time I've ever had to ask someone that I found attractive out." She said, looking up and deciding to handle this the way Betazoids would. "In Betazoid society, you don't have to ask, everyone just knows. And on Earth, while I was teaching at the Medical Academy, well, I never lacked for potential suitors. So, uhh." She said stuttering again. She flushed and looked back down at her hands. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Corridor - Major Drizzt - 1832) "Lets see. My name is Domini, not Counselor. I was born on Betazed, raised on Betazed, schooled on Betazed, joined Starfleet Academy and got disowned by my step-father, and have been in the Fleet for six years. I'm considered clumsy, I have an awful sense of direction, my favorite color is sky blue, my favorite food is sushi and I spin and weave fabric as a hobby. Oh, and I'm a mind-healer." Drizzt nodded his head slightly as she finished, then she continued with; "And yourself? Drizzt was a great Andorian warrior, yes? He fought the evil Spider Queen that was terrorizing his people, if I remember my fables right. Are you descended from him? Why do they call you Spider?" The Andorian chuckled and brought his head down in thought for a few moments. "My name is Leonal, but very few know that who don't read my service record. 'Spider' is a name given to me by my first Commander, I went right into CE training from the Academy and boot and joined the CE's a year later. I always managed to get myself into the tightest positions for sniping or laying explosives. Hence, 'spider', I can get almost anywhere and I am... flexible." He looked over at her, "Besides, it sounds more fearsome then Leonal." He turned to face the corridor again, that was enough of his profession; most people were uncomfortable with Combat Engineers. They were the most deadly of an already deadly profession. Primarily they were Marine Engineers, trained to hold ground against any known enemy and repair or destroy essential equipment in highly dangerous combat zones. They were the explosives experts, the covert trained units, those that were trained for Counter-Terrorism, including destruction of captured vessels lest they stay in enemy hands. They were trained assassins and counter-assassins; they were the forward expendable units that mostly did anything to insure a mission's success. "As for the myths, indeed, Drizzt was a mighty swordsman; he was known to habitually slay the greatest of the evils with his gods-blessed twin yo'caths... hmm, Scimitars. I collect ancient weaponry, but I can't say as anyone in my family ever slayed a spider queen before." NRPG: *tongue in cheek* Evil woman! Show of hands now... how many D&D'ers we got on the list? :OP RPG: Spider grinned as he stopped in front in front of the turbolift and gestured in. "Ladies first." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara - 1832) "So, there is no reason to start now." Some of the tension drained out of her and she gave him a look of gratitude so easy to read, he would have to be blind not to be able to see it. "So, will you accompany me to dinner?" He said, grinning. "Yes, please!" She said, beaming, the smile transforming her face. "Since I don't know you, Counselor, I suppose the first thing I should ask about is about you... tell me a bit about yourself." Domini HAD hoped he would be the gentleman and offer her his arm, but that might impede his weapons. "Lets see. My name is Domini, not Counsellor" She said, sounding more like her normal self and less like an awkward teenager, although there was still a hint of nervousness there. "I was born on Betazed, raised on Betazed, schooled on Betazed, joined Starfleet Academy and got disowned by my step-father, and have been in the Fleet for six years. I'm considered clumsy, I have an awful sense of direction, my favorite color is sky blue, my favorite food is sushi and I spin and weave fabric as a hobby. Oh, and I'm a mind-healer." She finished, the last part more of an afterthought. "And yourself ? Drizzt was a great Andorian warrior, yes ? He fought the evil Spider Queen that was terrorizing his people, if I remember my fables right. Are you descended from him ? Why do they call you Spider?" She grinned, happily. Then she looked over at him and her heart sped a bit faster and her breath caught in her throat. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Personal Quarters - Major Spider Drizzt - 1832) "So," he said lightly. "What do you have in mind?" Domini turned back around. "In uniform, so to speak?" Drizzt put his hands behind his back and walked up again as she continued with; "What did I have in mind... Well, to be honest I was bored and lonely, and so I started wandering the hallways and ended up here." She paused for a moment, "And you seemed interesting." Drizzt quirked his head to the side as she decided to say more. "From all the time over the last couple of months spent working with Eva, I've learned a little about the marines." He noticed her hands, increased heartbeat, the sweating. IT didn't take much, and he found himself more then somewhat amused by her antics. If he was reading her right, then she was not only nervous, but terribly so. He hadn't shared more then 20 words with her in the past, the last time he had spent a significant amount of time near her was a few months ago when she joined the Marine CO in calling some of those mechanical monsters into a cross-fire. So, uhh." He decided to take some pity on her, she was stuttering like a teenager. "So, there is no reason to start now." He said with a bubble of amusement. He knew she could read him, a little bit of healthy humor was something he couldn't stop anyway. "So, will you accompany me to dinner?" He said with a slight grin. Whatever had brought her to his door, she was at least attractive company, assuming she could get over her stammering. (reply: Couns) Spider lead them out the door, then put his hands behind his back again and walked slowly down the corridor, not rushing. He couldn't amble, he had been trained far to hard for that, but he could move slowly enough that they would have plenty of time. "Since I don't know you, Counselor, I suppose the first thing I should ask about is about you... tell me a bit about yourself." Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Turbolift - Major Drizzt - 1835) "Well, you killed many spiders recently." She said, keeping her voice light. "So you fulfilled some of the legend." "Ten Forward," he said lightly as he crossed his arms behind him again. "What will your marines say to seeing you in 10-forward with the counselor?" she asked a moment later. Spider chuckled as he looked over again. "Most probably that I'm getting my head seen too. I'm sure a number of them are quite certain I'm two steps from mad, after the hardcore training I just finished putting them through." (Reply: Domini) The door opened and the sounds of merry-making and laughs filled his ears. It was dinner time, and lots of people seemed to be in high spirits. The newest crew hadn't been through the battle, and even the old crew seemed to be happier now that they were on the move again and not gung-ho to get into another combat mission. He paused as he looked around, and turned his antenna away so that he wasn't blinded by all the sights and sounds. He shook his head ruefully, "Shall we?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Turbolift - COUNS Alizara- 1835) "What will your marines say to seeing you in 10-forward with the counselor?" she asked a moment later. Spider chuckled as he looked over again. "Most probably that I'm getting my head seen too. I'm sure a number of them are quite certain I'm two steps from mad, after the hardcore training I just finished putting them through." "And are you a couple of steps from lunacy ?" Domini asked, stepping two paces back at the onslaught of raw emotion from ten forward. He paused as he looked around, and turned his antenna away so that he wasn't blinded by all the sights and sounds. He shook his head ruefully, "Shall we?" Domini nodded, stepping forward, trying not to wince from the general babble in the room. Her filters weren't back yet, it was no wonder that she was playing a hermit. She who had been so proud of the fact that she could filter out all the telepathic dribble, had very thin shields, and hardly any ability to block. After they had taken a seat, Domini placed an order for sushi and miso and green tea, and then Drizzt ordered, and the two were staring across the table at each other. "Uhmm, so...." And then she flushed a bit and asked the question that she had been dying to ask. "If marines are put through so much training, and are considered front line troops, and therefore... more likely to die..." She tip-toed around the word expendable. No human being was expendable. "Why does anyone want to do it ?" She finished. "What made you decide to be a marine ?" Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Corridor - COUNS Alizara- 1835) The Andorian chuckled and brought his head down in thought for a few moments. "My name is Leonal, but very few know that who don't read my service record. 'Spider' is a name given to me by my first Commander, I went right into CE training from the Academy and boot and joined the CE's a year later. I always managed to get myself into the tightest positions for sniping or laying explosives. Hence, 'spider', I can get almost anywhere and I am... flexible." He looked over at her, "Besides, it sounds more fearsome then Leonal." Domini laughed. "And as a marine, appearances matter, and you must be fierce. I understand the reasons behind it psychologically...but...." She shook her head, her spiral curls falling forward into her face. She brushed them out while looking at him, he appeared to be brooding. "As for the myths, indeed, Drizzt was a mighty swordsman; he was known to habitually slay the greatest of the evils with his gods-blessed twin yo'caths... hmm, Scimitars. I collect ancient weaponry, but I can't say as anyone in my family ever slayed a spider queen before." Spider grinned as he stopped in front in front of the turbolift and gestured in. "Ladies first." Domini stepped forward, briefly wishing for something that she wasn't sure of as she passed him, but wanting it for a second with all of her soul. The moment passed as she entered the back of the lift and turned around. ~What is going on with me ?~ She thought to herself, confused and briefly insecure. "Well, you killed many spiders recently." She said, keeping her voice light. "So you fulfilled some of the legend. " She said, then changed the subject to something very very light before the depression that had been plaguing her set in. "What will your marines say to seeing you in 10-forward with the counsellor ?" She joked, hoping he took it for what it was. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca – Holodeck 2 – OPS Lt. Schafio & TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 2235) Yalta woke up and saw that the holodeck had reverted to it's normal state, the simulation was gone. She was laying partly on Ryko wrap in the blanket. Her body felt so relax that she just lay her head back on his chest with a smile on her face. She could feel that they both got a bit ruff on each other but it was okay, after the work they have put this pass few months on the ship and the tension that was building, it was more then normal. She had wanted to go out with him for sometime but didn't find the time for it and when she saw it, she took it. An action typical of an Elasian. She felt Ryko's hand caressing her back and her hair, he was awake and something came to her mind. “Did you ever have a knick name Ryko?” Ryko thought for a few moments, stroking Yalta's hair and looking at the holodeck ceiling. "Yeah," he replied. "Back at Antares 3, people called me "Sky". “Sky, I like it!” She lift herself on one elbow and couldn't help with her other hand take a lock of his hair and push it back from his forhead. “We must have pass over 4 hrs here... I would like to know, just had the thought seconds ago, if I would say that I would give the computer the order that you can come and go as you please from my quarters?” Ryko sat up and looked at Yalta. The night had been rough, but it was fun. He was at the same time surprised and happy to hear her say this. "You sure?" He asked, "Cause it sounds great," he said, smiling. "If you want, I'll do the same for my quarters," he said, stroking her hair. “If you want... I know that we have burn a few steps here but in Elasian way, if something is good, don't toy around... You go for it. It's the first time I feel that there is be something more.” "Then let's go with it," Ryko said, as he caressed Yalta's face. "I can tell you I feel ready for this, you're incredible, and I'm glad you feel the same way about me," he added. “In this case... where do we finish the night? My quarters or yours?” Yalta sat up and took his hands in hers.” Ryko kissed her. "Well, if you want a room full of modified weapons, mine," Ryko said. He hadn't found time to put his weapons collection away. "Your choice," he said, smiling again. “My quarters are closer!” She loved the way his fingers would lightly brush her neck and shoulder. “Just one problem... we would need to get dress.” She moved a bit closer to him. Ryko's eyes danced with mischief. "Or we could take a risk," he said, and held her in his arms. The two laughed for a few moments. "You're right. We need to dress, John would have a field day if he got to throw his superior in the brig," Ryko said, laughing again. He kissed Yalta's forehead. He felt so comfortable and happy that it seemed like it would be a shame to leave this night behind. “You are thinking that you don't want this to end... me either.” She gave him a kiss and pry herself from Ryko's arms laughing. Picking up her clothes she saw Ryko's back he had a few marks there. She saw him getting dress and she asked. “My quarters?” Ryko turned as he finished dressing. He walked towards Yalta and swept her off her feet. "Yes," he answered, and carried her through the holodeck arch. The two headed along the corridor. "This brings back memories," Ryko said, as he looked at her. They entered the turbolift anfd Ryko put Yalta down. “I barely remember, just a feeling... and it's much better this time around. “Deck 3, crew quarters. Your quarters isn't the only one with weapons... I have a few hanged on my walls.” Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Kyle's Quarters - CSO Kyle Rin - 22:50) Sitting in the darkest area of his room Kyle pondered over the previous events. Glancing over at a nearby table which held his current rank pips, he shook his head in disbelief. "I don't deserve this at all.... I'm not sure what the captain sees in me." His voice trailing off into the darkness around him. "Acting second in command..." Kyle scoffed at the very thought as he picked up his father's diary and began to flip through the tattered pages. "If a phase induction is ever to reach a thermal-nitrogon then warp conditions....." Kyle paused from reading the passage and set the book aside. It had been awhile since Kestra had departed for the Nimitz, he never got the chance to tell her. At least not the way he had hoped.... NRPG: Ok, for those out there Kyle never completely confessed his feelings and since frank has gone on to the nimitz... This is how am writing this. RPG: "Kestra, there is something i've been meaning to tell you..." These words continued thru Kyle's mind he knew all to well how it ended. "I hope you do well on the nimitz... If you need a friend to talk to or you get lonely don't forget to write i'll always listen." Kyle smacked himself in the forhead the pain flowed away from the impact and subsided leaving a bruise. A small smile rose in the corner of his mouth there was one good thing which did come from her departure. ~She did teach me a thing or two about being a telepath.~ The smile faded as he shifted his posture and layed down on the couch. He was in dire need of someone to talk to and since his shift didn't begin until tomorrow there was only one person he could think of. =^= "Kyle to Counselor Alizara, If your not too busy and hopefuly not asleep yet could you stop by i'm in need of a friend to talk with." =^= (reply Domini) =^= "Thanks, i'll try not too waste too much of your time so that you can get some sleep also. Kyle out.." =^= Kyle retrieved his father's diary from the table and continued where he left off until the counselor arived. Stardate:2406.10.10 (USS Boudicca – Deck 3 crew quarters – OPS quarters – 2255) Yalta and Riko arrived in front of the door, surprising enough, there was no one, they were probably all sleeping anyway. Part of her would have wanted but there was plenty of time to show how happy she was. “Here we are.” Ryko walked in straight after her. "You're right, I do like this," Ryko said as the lights went up. He looked around and caught sight of something on the wall. "This looks familiar," he said, indicating one of the rifles. "It's one of my designs!" he said, smiling. He looked around the room and suddenly felt right at home. "It's good to know I'm not the only weapons enthusiast on this ship," he said as he browsed Yalta's collection. "Didn't know you had an eye for my handywork, though," he said as he sat down on the couch. “Elasians are weapons expert.... I like the blade kind.” She pointed out the table a few meters away from the door. There was a set of Katana.” "Katanas, nice," he said as he moved to examine the weapons. "I haven't seen one of these since I was 17," he said. He picked one up. "Mind if I try one?" He said, cradling the sword, which was sheathed in a black and silver scabbard “No I don't mind... I have it since I was 17 and it's old. I practice once and a while... Are you hungry? Thirsty?” Yalta smiled. "Parched," Ryko said, returning the smile. "I'll have a Tirellian Brandy, if you got it," he said, as he unsheathed the sword. He took a few careful swoops. The blade felt like an extension of his arm. It swept effortlessly through the air and the metal glimmered in the light. "This is a hell of a sword," he said, very impressed. “I have Tirellian brandy and also... Computer, a silk scarf please!” The replicator produced one, she unfolded and through it in the air. It fell on the blade and split in half. “Thank you! Here is your brandy!” She smiled. Ryko took the Brandy and drank some. He finished the small glass and looked at the blade again. "You put a lot of time into these, don't you?" he asked, smiling. "You take this good care over your blades, I know I'm in good hands." he said, smiling again as he put the blade back into its scabbard and hung it on its display. “I always take good care of who and what I love. Are you tired? I know that I am... more or less.” She had that mysterious smile on her face and made her way slowly toward the bedroom. She also calmly took off the shirt and let it drop has she cross the bedroom entrance. Ryko watched as Yalta headed to the bedroom. The shirt flowed off her back like a waterfall. "Yeah, me too," he said, and followed her inside. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Domini's Quarters - CSO/2O Kyle Rin - 23:10) Kyle entered slowly his eyes still adjusting to the light around the ship since his quarters were dark as dark could ever be. A small smerk happened to cross his face as he looked upon Domini sitting at her loom, she was wearing one thing which happen to draw Kyle's attention and hold it there. It was a very nice caftan from the look of things it was made from betazoid silk, he had only seen one other like it the one his mother wore. Domini looked at Kyle's expression, then realized that what she was wearing was basically lingerie to a human. She wished that Kyle had been raised on Betazed.... humans were so fussy about things like clothes. Kyle sat down near Domini only a couple inches from her on a seat which faced the loom. ~She... She looks beautiful sitting there wearing that.~ He began to drift out as he focused his eyes on her. "Was there something that you needed to talk about, Kyle?" She asked, her fingers continuing the pattern. Shaking his head and snapping out of his 'Day Dream' he started to speak his voice sounded empty as if something was missing. "I... It's been a long time since Kestra left for the Nimitz....." He stopped mid-sentence and lowered his head into his hands for a second wiping some tears without Domini seeing which he wasn't doing too good of a job. (reply Domini) "Crying?.... No....I......I'm fine really." Looking back up into Domini's eyes he knew that was a lie, there wasn't anything he could keep secret from her at least. He continued only this time his voice more tattered. "I feel empty Domini but... my heart isn't broken she wasn't the one." Reaching up with his hand he wiped off another tear before it reached his mouth. (reply Domini) Moving the seat closer and reaching out with his hand he placed it over her's and stared deep into her eyes. "I guess.....i'm going to be lonely for...." He was stopped mid-sentence Domini had placed her hand over his mouth and began to say something which made Kyle feel better. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Domini's Quarters - COUNS Domini Alizara - 23:10) After a delightful dinner that unfortunantly did not end with her in Drizzt's bed, Domini had headed back to her Quarters, changed into a long loose caftan of betazoid silk and sat down at her loom, weaving and singing along to a betazoid folk lorist, in the old betazoid tongue... ~Eva would like her...~ Domini thought for a moment, then ordered the computer to send the current playlist on to Eva's terminal. Then Domini's comm went off, and unsurprisingly, it was Mr. Rin, looking for someone to talk to. =^= "Kyle to Counselor Alizara, If your not too busy and hopefuly not asleep yet could you stop by i'm in need of a friend to talk with." =^= Domini sighed, muted the track and replied, "No I wasn't asleeo, and of course you are welcome. Come to my Quarters, Kyle." =^= "Thanks, i'll try not too waste too much of your time so that you can get some sleep also. Kyle out.." =^= Domini leaned back in her straight back chair, then looked down at the piece she was working on. She went back to working on the pattern, a couple more minutes of work would be a good place to end it..... And then she looked up a couple of minutes later to the chime going off. "Come in, Kyle!" She shouted, looking down at the pattern and picking out the colors, weaving them together without looking. Weaving was one thing she was incredibly good at. Domini looked at Kyle's expression, then realized that what she was wearing was basically lingerie to a human. She wished that Kyle had been raised on Betazed.... humans were so fussy about things like clothes. "Was there something that you needed to talk about, Kyle?" She asked, her fingers continuing the pattern. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Domini's Quarters - CSO/2O Kyle Rin & COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara- 23:13) "How have you been eating ? How have you been sleeping ? What are your dreams like when you sleep ?" She asked, staring at him intensely. He needed to admit that there was a problem, before she could help fix it. He shook his head twice in dismay to her first questions and froze on the third, as he began to think deeply over there death. "I haven't been able to stomach anything......" Kyle felt another presence in the room and his tone lowered. "Nor has my sleep pattern been any better. Is this the true cause and effect as to why I feel this way Domini?" He lowered one eyebrow and stared at her as deep as he could. Domini nodded. "I think so. I can't be sure unless you let me into your memories. I *CAN* help with it, that is what being a mind-healer means. I can put a block between the memories and your grief, and I can wear away at the grief over time - basically accelerate the healing process. I can also block it completely if we need to go into battle again." "As much as I want the pain and suffering to stop Domini I don't want to let go of the memories....It's truly all I have left be it there final hour or not." Kyle gave an exhusted sigh as if he were fighting over the choise. "How else do you feel ?" She asked very gently. "Is it affecting your duties ?" "I'm a complete wreck...I guess starfleet wasn't the best choice i've made, I shouldn't have applied to the academy. This isn't where I belong." Kyle stood up and walked over near the window placing his hand on the side to steady himself. "Your right Domini she was only a friend the true things bothering me have and will always be my parents." Taking a quiet sigh he turned his head to watch Domini move over near him. Domini nodded. "Time does heal, you know." She said, hugging him from behind. Betazoids were an incredibly tactle people. "Those are indeed comforting words......but they will never have any effect on me. I lost them both when I was only a boy nothing more then a teenager without guidance. And now when I need them the most there nowhere to be found but in the grave." Feeling as if were about to fall Kyle reached out and held onto Domini for what seemed like only a second but felt like minutes as he returned to standing on his own. "You have friends..." Domini began, then when he reached out to hold her, a link sprung up, unbidden. Domini rode it, not drowning in it, then reached Kyle and broke it. She was a much stronger telepath than he was, and trained. "I'm sorry...I...." His voice died off as if he lost it completely. "My telepathy is still too strong for me to control and thinking about my parents at a time like this is only making it..." Domini cut him off before he had a chance to say it. "I can teach you to control it, you know." She said. "Just the act of mind-healing will give you some conscious control over it." "I'm afraid of what I might become if I were to have control over such a gift. If only my mother were here to teach me of what I have become." He ran his hand down her soft face and continued. "Please.... i'm going to need all the help I can get before it destroys me." She watched him for a moment, listening to his emotions. He finally reached a peaceful center, and said, "May they rest in peace... and hopefully may I do the same." Kyle kissed her on the cheek. "And the diary, Kyle?" She asked, realizing that it was one of the focuses of his grief. "The Diary..." Kyle gave a small smile in her direction as not to change the look upon his face. "I'm not sure what value it holds for me.... I guess only in time will I ever find out the anwser to that question." Kyle paused for a second or two in deep thought but shook it off. "You look very attractive and beautiful in that caftan, the design in your loom seems to capture those qualities as well." He blew her a kiss with as much respect as he could give. "Good night Domini, i'm sorry if I kept you up too long. May you have sweet dreams and peaceful sleep to accompany your beauty and grace." Domini blushed at the traditional betazoid blessing being given in standard. ::Kyle, you will come back here, so we can deal with this, before it gets worse. Both your telempathy and your issues with your parents.:: Domini sent. ::I will make it an order if I have to, please don't make me have to.:: Kyle nodded slowly and left her quarters making his way slowly back to his own. After he had left, Domini went back over to her loom and stared at it for a moment. Warm arms reached around to hug her, and she leaned back into them. Stardate:2406.10.10 (Boudicca - Domini's Quarters - CSO/2O Kyle Rin - 23:13) "Now listen to me. You liked Kestra a lot. She was a good person, a good friend for you. I know that the liking was mutual, and could have developed into something more with time. This isn't about Kestra leaving and you losing the only close friend that you have on the ship, is it ?" She asked, finishing that piece of the pattern and moving away from the loom. "This is about your parents death, the loss you felt from that." She could see the look on his face. Kyle froze in place right after Domini had mentioned his parents, as if a deer caught in oncoming headlights. His face grew deep with emotion the kind without happiness attached. He drew his eyes in another direction and watched as she kept close attention to his actions. "How have you been eating ? How have you been sleeping ? What are your dreams like when you sleep ?" (reply Domini) He stared at her for a second or two she knew as well as he did, that he was about to scorn his parents. Closing his eyes there faces began to flood his mind and as he opened them back up he thought for sure his mother would be standing infront of him. To his avail it was only Domini as before, he drew in close his face only inches from hers. "May they rest in peace... and hopefully may I do the same." He said slowly in a whisper as she took every word in and had time to think over each ones meaning. He planted a kiss onto her cheek and walked away towards the door she stopped him with a question she had asked before. (reply Domini) "The Diary..." He stopped mid-sentence and lowered his head into his hands for a second wiping some tears without Domini seeing which he wasn't doing too good of a job. Domini looked at Kyle, emotionally, and saw that it really wasn't Kestra that he was worried about. He obviously missed her, but that wasn't the real problem. No, this was problems with his family's death he was still dealing with. "Are you crying, Kyle ?" "Crying?.... No....I......I'm fine really." He looked up into her eyes, and Domini felt a wrench from his Betazoid heritage. "I feel empty Domini but... my heart isn't broken she wasn't the one." Reaching up with his hand he wiped off another tear before it reached his mouth. "No, this isn't about Kestra." Domini frowned, then realized that there was an intense need that Kyle was experiencing, the same need that she had earlier, and had grounded with Spider, earlier. That was part of it, but there was more to it than that. She smiled a secret smile, looking over towards her bedroom where Spider was sleeping. Moving the seat closer Kyle reached out with his hand he placed it over her's and stared deep into her eyes. "I guess.....i'm going to be lonely for...." Kyle was getting too loud. He would wake Spider, and that would make awkward questions. Domini reached out and put a finger over his lips. ::Shhh:: She sent to him, knowing that he would be able to receive it. "Now listen to me. You liked Kestra a lot. She was a good person, a good friend for you. He needed to admit that there was a problem, before she could help fix it. Stardate:2406.10.10 USS Boudicca, Engineering, Lt jg Trevan West, 2315) Engineering was quiet for this time of night, the engines were running, the day shift was long gone and a smattering of engineers went about their day, er night that is. Trevan was sitting at his desk, sipping his mint tea and reading over the days status reports and making sure nothing was messed up. Everything was looking normal as usual so he placed his PADD down and decided to go and have his routine medical checkup that was long overdue. Stardate:2406.10.10 USS Boudicca, Sickbay, Lt jg Trevan West, 2330) Trevan entered sickbay, the room was fairly quiet, which he supposed was a good thing these days. There was the faint hum of the sickbay scanners and a few nurses were walking about. "Hi there, I have come to get my checkup, Doc wanted me here two weeks ago but I neglected to do so. Can I have my check-up now?" Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS Boudicca - Captain's Quarters - Capt Caladryll Sevant - 0130) Sevant looked out his window at the stars, flashing by silently in Real-Space. They were still a few hours from the subspace river; a branch of it, a small one, came near the yards. The Boudicca could have been in it by now, but Sevant had chosen to take it slow at Warp 5 so that Engineering could have a chance to work out bugs, this was a shake-down cruise after all, there was no reason to push. The would be in and out of the river within seven hours, their first mapping zone was only a few days away from Geneva, mere hours down the river. "La rêve des étoiles" Sevant murmured quietly to himself. The Dream of Stars - it was a French sentence that described a philosophical ideal taught in the first year at the Academy, the drive to seek out the celestial bodies and the mysteries they contained. That dream was long since still-born for Sevant, it had died with his family not so long ago on the Nimitz, while he was hopeless to prevent it on a planet filled with enticements and mystery. He was now devoted to the defense of his ideals, if he couldn't live in peace with his family, then he would wage bloody war on those that would rip apart all he had left. There hadn't been a choice when LoDona had presented his case, Sevant had willingly become one of his troopers from the time he was sure LoDona was right. The Dream of Stars. The Dream was dead. He turned away from the window, there was nothing there he wanted to see. The drive to visit the great unknown was lost to him, they no longer inspired him. It had been a long day, and they were not at battle-alert. On the other hand, Sevant was not at all tired, being a half-vulcan meant he had to sleep, but not nearly as much as the average human. A lot of the time he could easily get by simply by meditating in Vulcan fashion. The problem was, he hadn't been able to find his quiet 'spot' in a very long time. Once, long ago, his quiet area in his mind had been a representation of his own office during peace. Then, without conscious thought, it had become the 'nexus' area that he and his family had lived for so many years. After they had left, and that nexus was denied them, he would retreat into his mind and find it again, complete with happy family. Then, his family had been murdered, and the first time he had retreated to mediate and found that they were dead even in his peaceful spot, he had been shattered. There had been no denying the truth that they were gone, and he had found no peace there. Yet as much as he tried, he could not bring himself to imagine any other place, his mind refused to cooperate and he would continuously be brought to his memories of that Island paradise. His house was there, the breeze on his imaginary face was warm and filled with water. Even T'loren's horse was still in the small stable that he himself had built. Yet, no sounds of children echoed on the breeze, only long-dead hints of Vicki's perfume had he been able to find. His imaginary paradise had died along with his dreams. Sevant shook his head out of his revelry and sat down next to the bed. He tried touching on logic to calm his mind, then with a deep breath submerged himself into his own unconscious, trying yet again to find a new place to 'rest' while he meditated... (Dreamscape - ? - Sevant - Time has no meaning) ... and once again, he failed. Sevant opened his eyes and looked around, his face a tight mask of rigidly controlled pain as the moist tropical breeze flowed over him. With infinite patience he noticed that his mental self was not wearing a uniform, but the same clothing he had taken to wearing on the island... a set of breeches and a small open vest, and he went barefoot as always. The sand felt warm, grainy, between his toes... just as he remembered it. The sounds of the waterfall were close, he didn't have to turn to know that he was standing beside it, with his back to it facing the ocean. The horse, which could get out of the pen at will (that had always irked Sevant, an engineer he wasn't) walked out of the gate and up to him, giving his neck a nuzzle. Sevant reached up and wrapped an arm around the horses neck by habit, "Just us, Ambrose." Sevant whispered, mostly to himself. "It's just us." He gave Ambrose another pat and began walking down the well-worn paths of his former Island home, the rocks were smooth and sun-warmed, they felt as good on his feet as he remembered. Still, nothing here was as bright as it had been in the nexus, and the blessed forgetfulness didn't exist either. He paused at the entrance to their house, a largish sized hut that always seemed to be bigger on the inside then it looked. The vision was complete enough that there was even a pile of broken bamboo sticks off to one side, the failed remains of his efforts to create aesthetically pleasing plumbing for the hut. Slowly he rambled on, letting his feet carry him on the long remembered path down to the beach. After not to many minutes he was there, feet dug into the sand and arms pinned behind him as the breeze carried soft scents of salt off the breakers, the same breeze that billowed his vest. This was his time of relaxation, and if he couldn't change his minds locale, then this was where he could spend it, looking out at the smooth waters of the bay. Dolphins patrolled the break line of the outer reefs, playfully jumping and dodging each other in the bright morning sunshine. Sevant, supposedly very much alone in this mind-scape of his, suddenly felt arms go around his waist. He stiffened, so surprised that he was, and looked down. There was only one person in the universe who had ever done that to him, but that wasn't possible! Since the murder, he hadn't been able to find even memories of them, not that they ever had been part of his quiet place. Though he wasn't 'real' here, he trembled as he turned, and found himself face-to-face with the one person in the world he would have given his soul to see again. Her eyes were bright, and her smile quirked just as he last remembered it. Longing, fear, confusion, everything echoed through his thoughts all at once, leaving him utterly incapable of saying a single word, or moving a muscle. Finally, after many long tortured moments, he had to close his eyes. "You can't be here," he finally said. "You are long dead, your spirit long gone." "Funny you should mention that," she said after a few long moments. "Remember it was me who was the vessel for your own katra, so many years ago." He opened his eyes and looked at her, she looked much younger then she had when she was gone, her face had none of the wrinkles she had just been starting to develop at the time of her death. She was fresher, more vigorous, she looked like she did when he had only just married her. His mouth opened but nothing came out, his voice (even if it was only mental) refused to sound... his mind refused to formulate any words into coherent sentences. She stopped him anyway and put a finger to his lips, forestalling anything he could have said anyway. It was a move so like her that he was shocked into silence. "No, say nothing." she said in a much more serious tone, "I am aware of what has happened, I am only a glimmer, a spectre, a shade of what once was. I am what is left, what rubbed off on you when your katra was transferred from me, back to you. Until this moment your mind was not quiet enough for me to break through, all I could do was force your restive mind into this spot time after time until you accepted it enough to let down some of your barriers of sorrow." Sevant's mind twirled as he considered her words. A taint.. what he was seeing was a taint from when she carried his soul. She had carried it for months, not even a Mind-Lord could have purged it of all her taint. When she was alive, with the bond they had shared, that taint would have been utterly unnoticeable. With her dead, the bond removed and smoothed... yes, it made a sick kind of sense to him. It was no wonder he could not move on. Vicki smiled, radiant and young, "You begin to see, you begin to finally work out what has been going on. I'm pleased by that, Caladryll Sevant, because up until now you have been a true and complete idiot. I appreciate a bit of mourning for me, and for the children, but you do no one any good by being soul-dead." She kept her finger on his lips, forestalling any speaking, "And this will not be enough to convince you otherwise. Knowing what you know now, you can bury my memory deeper and make sure it doesn't interfere with you as much any longer. And, if you are calm of mind, you can always come back here and work through your thoughts. I am no longer with you my Husband, but in other ways I shall always be with you more surely then most are graced with. You will live on, you will find another, and you will make of your life what you must." "No," he breathed harshly, "None can take the place that you had filled in my heart." "No one will take my place, Husband." she agreed, "But someone will supplant me in time. And don't bother arguing with me, you never once succeeded in all of our years, you most certainly won't win against a shadow who has nothing but time on her hands." The look she gave him was so dead-panned, and LIKE her, that he crumpled. "Now go, my love." she said gently as her image faded. "Go and think, your time here has passed and you've much to work through." His head came up, and in a moment of panic he reached out and tried to grab her, to keep her in place. Her chuckle echoed through his head as she completely faded away, "Go and know my love continues inside you, as long as you remember me." Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS Boudicca - Captain's Quarters - Capt Caladryll Sevant - 0400) Sevant opened his eyes with a start and turned his head from side to side. He was, as he always had been, alone. He sat shocked for many long moments, then his face crumpled and he hid his head in his hands. "Vicki," he breathed, "My love, you shall never be forgotten. Not for as long as fate keeps memory or love endures." Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS Boudicca – Deck 3 crew quarters, OPS quarters – OPS Lt. Schafio & TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0640) Ryko woke up feeling more comfortable than he had on the holodeck the previous day. He looked down and to his left. Yalta was still asleep, resting against him again. He lay for a few seconds, stroking her hair, gently so she wouldn't wake. He thought for a few seconds and had an Idea. She would no doubt be hungry when she woke. Slowly and carefully, Ryko rested Yalta's head against the pillows of the bed and got out, dressed in only a towel, he made his way to the replicator. He stepped over to the console and spoke quietly, he still wasn't fully awake. "Computer, one stack of pancakes, with banana topping," he said. The food materialised on a small tray. He took the tray out of the replicator bay and had a notion. "Also, one daffodil, in a small glass vase," Ryko said. The decorative flower instantly appeared and he added it to the plate already on the tray. He walked into the bedroom and knelt by the bed. Yalta had rolled over and she was facing the small bedside cabinet. "Wake up, sleeping beauty," Ryko said, wafting the smell of the pancakes in front of her. Yalta was dreaming, dreaming that she was sleeping against Sky in the forest they had left behind in the holodeck. She felt so good in there, she didn't want to leave. Then there was a voice, first, and another, and one louder that was saying wake up, sleeping beauty. Her eyes blink a couple of times and she saw Sky and then she look at breakfast that he brought. “That smell delishious... I'm so hungry!” She lift herself up and gave him a kiss before sitting on the bed and take the tray to put in front of her and leaving some room for Sky to sit beside her. Ryko sat on the bed next to her and simply watched, smiling as she began to eat. "How are they?" He asked, inhaling some of the delicious scent. “They are delicious... I like banana. Do you want some?” She smiled. Ryko sat up and leaned over her shoulder a little. He sniffed the pancakes. "Yes, please," he said, lightly resting his chin on her shoulder and laughing a little. Yalta poke a couple of pieces with in the middle a piece of banana and presented the fourk to him. Ryko bit the pancake from the fork and chewed. It tasted great. "Mm," he said as he swallowed the pancake. "Those are good," he said, as he gave her a peck on the cheek and lay back again. “You are not hungry? I'm not going to be able to eat the entire thing.” Ryko sat up again. He was feeling very cheerful. "Well, I'll have what you can't finish," he said, pinching one pancake off the stack. "Or we could share," he smiled as he ate the pancake. “I like the idea of... sharing!” She smiled and took a bit off her fourk. "Good, cause so do I," Ryko said, nabbing another pancake. He smiled and watched as Yalta used her fork, and here he was using his hands. He couldn't help laughing. "look at me, I'm covered in banana syrup," Ryko said, licking the stuff off his fingers. “Oh my.!” She look at him with a corner smile. "It's okay," Ryko said, still sniggering a little. "You know what?" He said, as he finished removing the syrup, "I think I'd best get a fork," he said. He smiled and got up to get one. He returned seconds later and sat down again. "Now, where was I?" he said, and tucked into breakfast. Yalta who was full, observed him eat, he was just has angry as she was.” She lay back on the bed and stretch. “We really went all out yesterday... I wonder what today will be like.” Ryko finished the last pancake and looked at her. "That depends on how much time we have until we go on duty," he said, smiling at her in that mischievous way as he lay back himself. “Well, today, I get to start to work at 0900 hrs... right up to 1800 hrs. And you?” She turn toward Sky and putting her arms around him laying her head on his chest. Ryko put his arm around her and stroked her arm. He kissed her head. "Well, I go on active duty whenever I tell John that he isn't on active duty," Ryko said. "Usuallty around 0915, then I'm on the bridge till 1800," he said. "That gives us...a full 3 hours," he said, holding her closer. “That is what I was thinking... now, how are we going to take care of that?” Yalta knew the answer and she wanted to giggle very badly. Ryko lifted her chin up to his face and kissed her. "You already know the answer to that," he said, kissing her again. “Yes I do.... I like that connection, don't know why and I don't want to figure it out. It's there, period.” She lifted herself up to be facing him a bit more. She look into his eyes and gave him a kiss, and after continued to look at him with a little smile on her face. "It's always been there, we just never really discovered it til recently," Ryko said, stroking her cheek. "It needs no explanation, just cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there." Ryko kissed Yalta again, passionately. As he did, he pulled the sheet of the bed over them. Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS Boudicca – Deck 3 crew quarters, OPS quarters – 0830) Suddenly her alarm clock resonated, usually should would have woke up sooner but with what happen with Sky she was deep asleep. Sky also woke up and look at the time, didn't have to say much. They both hit the shower enjoying it a little. Didn't need breakfast since they had a big one a few hours ago. Replicating a fresh uniform for Sky, dressing up and at 0900 hrs they were out. “Tonight... it's going to be my treat!” She said has they walk inside the turbolift. “And no but about it!” Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS Boudicca – Turbolift – OPS Lt. Schafio - 0903) “Tonight... it's going to be my treat!” She said has they walk inside the turbolift. “And no but about it!” Ryko felt excited. It sounded like Yalta had something fun planned. "Can't wait to find out what it is," Ryko said as he fially released her. "Deck 1, bridge," he said, and the turbolift started moving. "At least give me a clue," he said, smiling again. “You showed me where you loved to be and I will show mine. It's going to take me time to cook it up from memory.... I know you will love it.” She winked at him as they would soon be on bridge deck. Ryko was intrigued and a little puzzled by her response. Yalta hold her chuckled but smiled has she releaved the officer at the Ops station. Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS BOUDICCA-BRIDGE- TURBO LIFT- ENSIGN (JG) JOHN FREDERICKS - 09:05) John turned and headed back towards the Turbo lift and proceeded back down to the security office. ~Maybe he is right~, John thought to himself. ~I guess I need to back off a little and wait. Something is bound to happen sooner or later, there is too much going on to stay quite for more than a little while~. The lift slowed and stopped on deck 12 and John walked to the office and started on the paper work. While working on the never ending stack of papers John noticed that there were two new men assigned to this shift. He decided to grab a few minutes ate the end of shift to unofficially welcome them on board and find out some background, John always liked to find out as much as possible about those he worked with. =/\= computer, locate Ensigns Frank Samuels, and Todd Hodges please=/\= =/\= Ensigns Frank Samuels, and Todd Hodges are on Deck 4 Main Shuttle bay=/\= =/\= Ensign Samuels this is Ensign Fredericks, would you and Hodges please stop by the Security office at the end of shift please=/\=? =/\=Copy, we'll be there at Shifts end=/\= Stardate:2406.10.11 (USS BOUDICCA-BRIDGE-TACTICAL STATION- ESIGN (JG) FREDERICKS-0930) "Ensign Frederickson, you are relieved," Ryko said as he approached the Tactical console. John was evidently busy. “Aye,” Said John as he wrapped up his checks he had running on the various systems. Everything’s been quiet today. I guess that’s a good thing though right now. "Very good, thanks," Ryko said, smiling again. He couldn't really help it. "All shipshape in Bristol fashion?" he asked as he moved to check the ship's Tactical readiness. Obviously they were still under silent running. Every things good to go and as ready as it can be considering we are running shields down, weapons cold, although they are ready to go to warm status at a moments notice. "Excellent," Ryko said. "Don't worry, we'll see combat Soon enough." Does it show that much? Asked John. I know the ship just got through with some really nasty bugs and I would hate for anyone to have to go back this soon into combat but it does get monotonous standing a TAC watch on a ship that has everything turned off. I guess it is just being the newest one in the dept. I feel I have to show I can pull my own weight. Those in the Science Dept scan, discover and invent things, those in The Engineering Dept keep the engines going, our dept though is Security, We guard things, keep the ship safe and run the weapon systems and currently there isn’t much to guard, and with running silent that cuts out a lot as well. Oh well, John added jokingly. At least no one gets killed on a boring shift. John turned to leave but stopped a few feet away and turned back to Skylynx. “Hey Ryko, I received a present from a couple of friends on Kronos before we left the station, you might be interested” John said to Ryko. It’s an interactive holo program, although I am not too sure what is on it but I think I can guarantee it will be interesting.
