I very much doubt that the Spectre will encounter him on Tranome Sar now, he may have been but I don`t think he will be there now," the Lomax man added. "What makes you think that?" Ryan asked with a bit of an angry edge to it. "Just a thought" he mused. "I trust I have been assigned quarters for the duration of my stay here?" Lomax asked? "Yes, the Operations Officer will give you information on it," Ryan said. Lomax spoke a bit longer before exiting. Ryan sighed and closed his eyes. He wanted to be at the front lines, not sneaking about looking for some pre-war talking head. He rose from his seat and went to the replicator and ordered an old Earth alcohol, Whiskey, and quickly downed it before slamming the glass back into the replicator, then returning to his chair for some more thinking. What would you like to discuss?" he asked. Andrew looked up. "Don't worry about it David." He showed him into his office. "Would you like some thing to drink. I need one." (reply Taxia) Andrew nodded and went to the replicator and gave his order. He then took it and sat down at the table across from Taxia. "I am shortly going to discharge Mr H'Chir from Sickbay. He has recovered from his physical wounds. I was wondering if you had any luck with Mr H'Chir?" (reply Taxia) "The Captain suggested that Ensign Korak may be able to help in his reccuperation. I was wondering what you thought about that?" (reply Taxia) Andrew nodded. "what do you think will be Mr H'Chir's long term prognosis?" (reply Taxia) Andrew nodded. "Is there anything special I can do to help?" (reply Taxia) (replt Taxia, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - 18:50) Andrew sat in his office looking through his notes. He would have liked to have gone on the away mission. He really did not get out of sickbay as much as he would like. "Well that's the price of being the CMO." he said to himself. He picked up the first PADD. "Okay lets get started." "Computer begin recording." The computer beeped. "Medical report supplemental of Marine Privet Sanchez. Stardate 2407.02.04. Mr Sanchez is recovering well. His vital signs are stable at 140/80 with a temperature of 36.5 and a pulse of 60. He is mobilising independently and is tolerating orals. No apparent repercussions from the surgery and I am looking for discharge tomorrow morning or earlier depending on the KPG, Coag and his electrolyte results." ~well one down~ He picked up the next PADD. "Medical report supplemental of Ensign H'chir. Stardate 2407.02.04. Mr H'chir is still showing g signs of anshius and volatile behaviour. He is still prone to mood swings and out bursts. I have contacted Counsellor Taxia who is assisting me with Mr H'chir's treatment. Physiologically Mr H'chir has recover remarkably well. It is now down to Counsellor Taxia to help him recover." ~with as much help from me. Not much good I'll be thought~ "Medical report supplemental of Lieutenant Angeletti. Stardate 2407.02.04. Miss Angeletti is still in deep coma. She is showing no sighs of regaining consciousness. Her vitals are stable and it just appear to be a matter of time to see what will occur." Andrew placed the PADD down on to the desk. he was glad that there were only a few patients at the moment. Although he liked his job but having every one healthy was better. ~okay I need a drink or I'll fall a sleep~ He got up and left his office. He saw Jo hovering by the nurses station. He walked over to the replicator. ~lets try some thing else~ "Lady Grey hot." He took his drink and walked over to the nurses station. "Is Mr Taxia still with Mr H'chir ?" Douwsy nodded. NRPG: Kevin, Michael I'll change it if its a issue RPG: "Okay tell me if they need anything." Turned and headed back to his office to try and read some thing more uplifting. ~Lets try something from Christopher Landon. May be 'Ice Cold in Alex'~ (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Cave Network - ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie - 18:51) "Mr. McKenzie. Can you see what the Ferengi is doing?" asked the FO. "He appears to be examining a lump of rock, Sir. Your guess is as good as mine as too why?" "Hmm, interesting." said the FO. Kenny could not help noticing the hint of sarcasm in the man's voice. He then turned to Yalya "Lieutenant, you take point. I'll follow your lead." Kenny stayed where he was so he could get a good view of the Ferengi from behind the rock, but drew his phaser also, incase his group needed back-up fire. As his group walked over to the Ferengi, Kenny saw that the alien was scared, as they most often are, and Lt. Vasilyovna pointing a phaser at him was no help to his calmness. Kenny could not help but smile wickedly when the Frengi started to dance about like an animal. (Reply Any) (Posted by Gavin Work) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - ACMO - Dr Patrick O'Harper - 18:51) After the security officer had triggered some sort of trap the rest of the away team had been barked at to remain more cautious. It was a fair enough statement all things considered, however Patrick had no particular desire to continue to explore a cave system that seemed rigged up with traps to catch unaware officers. What was more boggling was the actual purpose for this mission into the caves and one that he at least was not aware of in the slightest. The Security officer had risen quite rapidly from his fall into the opening abyss so it was clear on the surface he had received no serious injury. "Doc, see if Mr. Davies is alright, the rest of you on me," Harper moved over to the security officer and crouched down by his side. "Ensign Davies, are you in any pain any where", Patrick enquired not making eye contact but instead focusing on his medical tricorder that had been drawn and was taking readings of the Ensign's vitals. (Reply Davies) "From the small nature of the fall and the increased heart rate it would be presumable that you only really had a small shock rather than anything more nefarious," Harper stated. (Reply Davies) NRPG: Add more if you want, I thought I would stick to the star trek ethos of Doctors with bad bed side manners ;-) RPG: Standing up Harper tapped his combadge. =/\=Harper to Lieutenant Rogers, Ensign Davies is fine sir we will make our way to your location,=/\= (Reply Rogers ) (Reply Davies, Rogers, any) (Posted By Rob) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - Security Officer Ensign Davies - 18:52) "Ensign Davies, are you in any pain anywhere?", said the ACMO as he crouched down next to the prone security officer. Davies shrugged as the Doctor opened up his medical tricorder to pass it slowly over him whilst assessing the readings upon it. "Mainly my ego Doctor", said Davies, "I think I may have bruised my pride more than anything else, I mean disappearing through a hole in the floor like that does nothing for a guys confidence", he added with a laugh. The Doctor simply nodded in responce, his mind clearly more on the tricorder readings than anything else. "From the small nature of the fall and the increased heart rate it would be presumable that you only really had a small shock rather than anything more nefarious", said O'Harper as he promptly closed the Tricorder & turned his attention to his patient. "It didn`t feel like a small fall Doc I can assure you of that", said Davies as he slowly got to his feet whilst the Doctor stood & opened a channel to the FO & the rest of the team to inform them of the situation. (Reply None, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - Agent Smith - 1901) Jo watched as Andrew walked back into his office. "Notice anything strange about him?" She looked at Douwsy and nodded. "It would have been him on that away mission and not Dr O'Harper. What do you think of him by the way." Douwsy smiled at her. "He's nice. For a doctor. He's not got delusions of grandeur like some I've worked with." Jo grinned. "Now Douwsy that's quite enough of that." Douwsy scowled at her. "Just because your an old fogey Agent Smith dose not mean the rest of us are." Jo grinned. "Not to old thank you very much. I could still give you a run for your money." Douwsy grinned back. "In your dreams. Look I've got work to do not like some people who just hang around for gossip. Why don't you go and talk to your marine he looks like he could use some company. Even from an oldy like you." Jo nodded. "Got me doing your job for you now have you. Getting to much for you." She turned and headed over to Sanchez to see when he would be released. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - Daimon Brak - 19:02) Brak danced down the tunnel ahead of the presidential aide, singing between his teeth. He brushed his nails against the rocks and roots around him as he went. "I trust you know why I am here Brak?" Pausing mid-step, the Ferengi turned back and grinned again. "You seek him here, you seek him there. Perhaps you bring more than you realise." "I would not advise trying to bribe anything out of me right now," said Castigan. "I`m sure Nell rewarded you well enough & that your loyalty to him is as strong now as it was the last time that you owed him a debt of gratitude," he added. Shrugging him shoulders, Brak began to tap out a rhythm on the wall as he replied sullenly, "No offense intended I. We shall do business. As you wish." Castigan nodded & then brushed aside an annoying in growing trailing fern that had appeared in his way to brush against his face. "Do you never keep this place free of clutter?" The Ferengi barked and snickered with laughter, his tapping growing louder as Castigan continued, "But I digress....I know already that you have met with the President, I also know that you know where he has gone so I will not beat about the bush." Confusion passed over Brak's features, but disappeared as Castigan clarified, "Meaning that I want an answer now. Or do I have to turn you over to Lieutenant Vasilyovna & her associates?" "Hmmmm… Are her associates equally well-sculpted?" "Believe me, you do not want me to have to do that." At last admitting defeat in the un-waivering stern countenance of the Presidential Aide Brak said, "He was here. Now you are here. More will come when you are gone. The one you seek went to Gharab VII or Carraya IV. I know not which, and do not care to know." For a mmoment the Ferengi considered asking to be taken with the starship in its search rather than being left to face the others who would follow, but he'd been paid for his role in this search. He remained uncharacteristically still whilst waiting to see whether his companion would accept this information, or whether something more would be required. (Reply Castigan, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - 19:05) Andrew put the book back on his desk and looked up at the chronometer on the wall. ~Its 19:05 should have heard some thing by them~ He got up and paced his office. Then sat down again and picked up his mug and drank some the tea. "Are you okay Doctor?" He looked up to see Jo standing in the door way. He put on a calming smile. "Yes of course I am why should I not be." She frowned at the response. "Well it looks to me that you seam to be agitated about some thing?" Andrew sighed and placed the mug on his desk. "I should not be here." Jo walked over and took the seat opposite. "Your a Doctor your place is in Sickbay. Why where should you be?" "On the away mission. That's what." A slow smile came across Jo's face. "What." "Are you saying that Dr O'Harper is not a good Doctor?" She said still smiling. "Of course not. I've read his file he's a good doctor." "Well are you saying he is not qualified to be on the away mission?" "No. Of course he is qualified." The smile got bigger. He was getting annoyed with Jo's smile. "Doctor congratulations you are starting to become a leader." Andrew frowned at her. "What are you saying." Jo became serious. "Its not easy having other people do jobs that you can do." "That's silly I delegate all the time." "That may be true but your not a Doctor now you are the CMO of the USS Spectre. You can't just rush off anywhere you like. You have responsibilities to your crew and your ship." Andrew looked at her knowing she was right but not wanting to agree. "Its not just that I don't want to lose another." Jo took a deep breath. "I've read the report about Dr Warren. There was nothing you could have done. You lose people in the line of duty. That is the nature of our job. You can't protect Dr O'Harper. You also can't do his job for him. Just trust him to do his job so that you can do yours." Andrew nodded and sighed as he finished the last of the cold tea. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan - 19:06) What the hell was it with the Ferengi anyway, why could they never answer a simple question without resorting to riddles.... Brak`s meanderings were irritating to say the least but of course, Castigan was a diplomat & one that was well versed in dealing with such annoyances. "He was here. Now you are here. More will come when you are gone. The one you seek went to Gharab VII or Carraya IV. I know not which, and do not care to know.", said Brak as he huffed & then resumed his path along the dust laden tunnel looking very much at home in his surroundings. The Ferengi had always reminded Castigan of the Trolls of early Earth Mythology & trolls after all were inherantly linked with caves. Castigan smiled at the distracting thought, then his countenance changed to one of annoyance once again as he ran the Ferengi`s words through his mind a second time. "What do you mean you don`t know which?", said Castigan irritated by yet another sidestep. "You know of two possibilities, surely you learned those from the president himself & surely he informed you of exactly where he was heading", he added. (Reply Brak) "Why should I trust you anyway, you could be waiting to sell us out to the next highest bidder", said Castigan, "I`ve never yet met a Ferengi that was not tempted by bigger rewards than the one he had already attained", added Castigan. (Reply Brak) Castigan pondered the Ferengi`s answer for a moment & then resumed his stroll alongside him. "Tell me Brak, what will you do once we have left here", said Castigan, "you mentioned more arriving, will you stay & face them or move to another......" Castigan paused mid sentence as he looked about the damp & dreary surroundings. "....Another cave", he added. (Reply Brak) "That might be possible, the final decision however would not be mine to make & it would be conditional on what else you could offer us in our search", said Castigan. (Reply Brak) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Captain`s Ready Room - CO T'Vhor - 19:07) Entering into his ready room, the Captain walked directly towards the replicator & paused briefly before it. Even before he had arrived there he had requested the required beverage in his mind before he had even spoken the commands & yet as he did so, the thought that he was becoming somewhat used to the caffeine contained within this drink hovered like some annoying little reminder of his time on Vulcan. Vulcan minds were supposed to be pure & clear in thought, moreover they were supposed to be free of contamination. This was actually the third cup of coffee he had taken in the space of only a few hours & the notion of a possible addiction to it did not sit well in the Vulcan hybrids mind at all. In an instance however he changed his decision on his choice of beverage. "Orange juice, chilled, with ice", said the Captain as the replicator performed it`s familiar molecular magic & delivered the drink into the reception tray ready for his collection. T`Vhor walked slowly to his desk, glass in hand & sat in his seat whilst taking a sip of the cool juice before accessing his personal terminal in preperation for a log entry. Then he placed the glass onto the table, the ice tinkling refreshingly against it`s sides in responce as he did so. "Captain`s log, stardate 2407.02.04 Time 19:08 hrs", said T`Vhor beginning the new entry. "Following the departure of the Zulu Alpha One, our efforts to find the second Zulu Alpha Vessel have been met with failure & it would appear now that the vessel has either left the system or is deep in stealth. I must confess that the later option is one I would rather not have to contemplate" "After receiving a distress call from a federation shuttle on the outskirts of the neutral zone, the Spectre altered course to assist & discovered one crewmember aboard claiming that he had been attacked by a vessel of unknown origin. Ironically, it has turned out that the occupant, Ensign Patrick O'Harper was bound for the Spectre & is now aboard in the capacity of Assistant Chief Medical Officer" "At this time, the Spectre remains under the relative safety of it`s cloak & is now in geostationary orbit of Tranome Sar. First Officer Rogers, together with the aid of Mr Castigan has lead an away team into the cave network on the surface in an attempt to locate either Nell himself, or a contact known by Mr Castigan to have information pertaining to President Nell`s location", said T`Vhor as he paused briefly from the log entry to take a sip of his orange juice before continuing on. "Unfortunately, we have discovered that the cave network of Tranome Sar is heavy with Kelbonite deposits & this has of course hampered our transporters & our communication with the away team." "On another note, Mr H'Chir continues in his delusional behaviour but I have high hopes that his cohort Ensign Korak, together with Councellor Taxia can unravel the mess of the Andorian`s mind & provide us with some answers to the riddle of his untimely disappearance during the Betazed mission...." ".....End of log entry" The Captain then picked up the glass from the table before settling back into his chair to endulge in the rest of the juice therien. (Reply None) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - Daimon Brak - 19:08) "What do you mean you don`t know which?" the Presidential Aide snapped. "You know of two possibilities, surely you learned those from the president himself & surely he informed you of exactly where he was heading," he added. With the profit as low as it was, Brak's hospitality was running short. He straightened his purple jacket and lowered his voice as he said, "Perhaps he had need of caution. Perhaps he could not afford to be so brash as you." "Why should I trust you anyway, you could be waiting to sell us out to the next highest bidder", said Castigan, "I`ve never yet met a Ferengi that was not tempted by bigger rewards than the one he had already attained." "Then go. You have the answer from me, so what more do you want? I was not paid to be a punching-bag for your ill-tempers, hew-mon." The Aide seemed to soften at that outburst. He said, "Tell me Brak, what will you do once we have left here? You mentioned more arriving, will you stay & face them or move to another… Another cave?" Calming his own voice to match his companion Brak replied, "I had thought of asking to go with you on your starship. The others who will come, and they will come, will not be so… refined as you or I. Perhaps I could find passage back to the Federation." "That might be possible, the final decision however would not be mine to make & it would be conditional on what else you could offer us in our search", said Castigan. "I told you the destinations your President gave me. I do not know which he intended to visit, but perhaps a certain astute individual may have information that would help in tracking his ship. Information that no other has, and no other shall know about. Perhaps with the sensors of a starship one could weave some… magic?" The snaggle-toothed grin appeared again as Brak felt the tables turning in his direction. (Reply Castigan, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 19:09) Sitting herself down on a nearby rock, the security chief tapped at her combadge & attempted again to raise the Spectre, although to no avail of course. "Damn these rock`s", she said angrilly, then turning to the science officer nearby who seemed to be unusually interested in the tricorder readings coming from those very same rocks, she raised the possibility that something might be able to be done about it all. "Ensign McKenzie, your a knowledgable man, surely you can think of a way to boost our communications without all this Kelbonite blocking our every attempt", said Yelena. (Reply McKenzie, Any) "I`m aware of that Ensign, but I`m concerned that we may need to contact the ship in a hurry or beam out fast", said Vasilyovna looking about at the boxes of equipment laying scattered about the cave in an almost haphazard fashion. "What is all this anyway, what in gods name has the hobgoblin been collecting here?", she said motioning to the crates & containers. (Reply Any) Yelena paused & then sat down on the rock again before turning to Ensign Davies who was now in the process of scratching at his leg in an almost furious manner. "Is there something wrong Ensign Davies?", said Yelena. The security officer furrowed his brow & then implied that something was irritating his skin. "Perhaps you should have the Doctor look at it again", said Yelena as she turned to Yates & ordered him to return to the cave entrance to update the Spectre on their current situation regarding their contact with Daimon Brak. (Reply McKenzie, O'Harper, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network – ACMO – Dr Patrick O’Harper - 19:10) The com link with the Spectre was no doubt being interfered from the several ton of rocks above their head that formed the cave network. The Security officer had been trying to raise the Spectre to no avail. Patrick strolled around the exterior of the group looking around at what the Ferengi had collected during his presumably long time in this cave network. Pausing Patrick looked at the Ensign scratching his leg. With a raised eyebrow Patrick drew his tricorder and began to take quite readings. Well as quite as the loud noises being emitted from the tricorder would allow. "Perhaps you should have the Doctor look at it again", Before Patrick had heard the words he was already standings next to Davies. “Ensign, could you describe the sensation to me?” Patrick enquired, it was not going to be the most scientific of descriptions however no doubt it would prove slightly advantageous. (Reply Davies) “How long has it been irritating you?” Patrick enquired lowering himself to a crouch to focus the tricorders medical adapter onto the Ensign’s leg. (Reply Davies) Standing back up Patrick headed over to the First Officer and security chief. “Lieutenants, I would advise that none of us return to the Spectre at this moment. I’m detecting an unknown cotangent in Davies’ Leg, it thus far has not moved and I do not understand how it has entered his body through no wound that I can detect. His pulse and heart rate are starting to accelerate to complement the infection and standard immune responses,” (Reply Rogers / Vasilyovna) “If it is necessary I would suggest we are all placed in medical quarantine, at least for 24 hours or until I can do more tests on Davies. Not understanding how he became irritated and infected by this could possibly mean it is airborne. Unless our Ferengi friend can give us some answers,” (Reply Rogers / Vasilyovna) (Reply Davies, Rogers, Vasilyovna, any) (Posted By Rob) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan - 19:10) The emotional sparring between the human & the Ferengi was becoming tiresome now, one minute the Ferengi appeared to find the gumption to insult Castigan, then the next it was Castigan firing off at Brak. Their heated exchanges however had now been met somewhere in the middle & perhaps both might now have something to gain from their individual positions. It was clear that the notion of remaining on Tranome Sar was disturbing for the Ferengi & Castigan had of course suggested the possibility of passage to federation space, he had then gone on to say that it would be dependant upon something of worth coming from the Ferengi`s end. Brak had implied that there might be a way to track Nells ship....for a price of course, the price being the safe passage already mentioned. Castigan allowed himself a slight smile at that sentiment. Did a Ferengi ever do anything without there being something in it for him he wondered. ~Always there is profit for a Ferengi in whatever deal they make~ "Perhaps with the sensors of a starship one could weave some… magic?", said Brak, his grin now as obvious as the pointed teeth in his jawbone. "Perhaps with the sensors of a starship we would not need this certain astute individuals help", said Castigan raising an eyebrow & quirking his head slightly forwards. Brak frowned at the presidential aides words, but the truth of the matter was that Castigan was now desperate for an edge & wether the Ferengi possessed the means to that edge or not was neither here nor there, anything that might lead them to Nell was worth the gamble. Castigan paused just for a while as the Ferengi shifted uncomfortably in his stance before him, then he nodded once & broke into the slightest of smiles. "Ok, I will arrange for your transit to federation space aboard our vessel, but you will remain on board until we find the president, only then you will have your reward", said Castigan. (Reply Brak) "You may remain here & deal with those that will come if you wish of course, the choice is yours", said Castigan as he turned about & began walking back up the tunnel from whence they had come, reasonably confident now that the Ferengi would be following soon after. (Reply Brak) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network – Security Officer Ensign Davies & Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan - 19:11) "Ensign, could you describe the sensation to me?", said the Doctor as he knelt down next to the agitated security officer, his tricorder already in operation. "It just burns", said Davies, "It burn like crazy & it itches even worse", he added, his face twisting into an agonised expression as the sensation in his leg became worsened as time went on. "How long has it been irritating you?", said O'Harper as he began to examine the Ensign further. It was at that point however that Castigan & the Ferengi reappeared into the chamber, the later imediately moving to proposition the Security chief with some kind of deal. "Since about five minutes after I came out of that damn hole", said Davies as the medic pondered the situation further & then spent the next few minutes taking further readings with his medical tricorder in order to ascertain exactly what was going on with the Ensigns leg. Once he was finished he shook his head briefly & then headed over to the FO & the security chief, who had now finished her discussion with the Ferengi to explain the need for a possible quarantine situation in regards Ensign Davies. "Oh that`s just great", said Vasilyovna at the news as the FO added his own comments. "Is it really necessary?", he asked. O'Harper simply nodded with a worried look upon his face. "If it is necessary I would suggest we are all placed in medical quarantine, at least for 24 hours or until I can do more tests on Davies. Not understanding how he became irritated and infected by this could possibly mean it is airborne. Unless our Ferengi friend can give us some answers,", said O'Harper. "Well, does your little Ferengi friend have any answers?", said Rogers turning to Castigan. Castigan simply turned to the increasingly frustrated Brak with a questioning look upon his face. "Do you have any idea what this could be Daimon Brak?", said Castigan, "you have been here sometime after all & the sooner we can find out what has happened to our security officer, the sooner we can get under way", he added. In the end, the Ferengi won out: "Ok, I will arrange for your transit to federation space aboard our vessel," Castigan added, "but you will remain on board until we find the president, only then you will have your reward." "That's a harsh offer to make someone who has tried to help you and your cause," said Brak, adding in several layers of mock hurt. "You may remain here & deal with those that will come if you wish of course, the choice is yours," came the reply. Castigan turned about and began walking back up the tunnel. Arms flailing about above his head, Brak bounded and skipped up the tunnel. "You win, hew-mon. I will return to your ship and aid your search." As they approached the rest of the landing group, an avenue to profit occurred to him. He edged towards Lieutenant Vasilyovna, and purred, "Lieutenant... "I err... "Have a proposition for you... She looked at Kenny and he looked back. She seemed to be thinking somthing, be he did not know what. "Ensign McKenzie. Your a knowledgable man. Surely you can think of a way to boost our communications without all this kelbonite blocking our every attempt." She asked him. He thought about this; It was kind of difficult to boost a tricorder when kelbonite was about, but it was possible. However, it was one of the things he could not do. "Aye, but..." he began. Not wanting to admit that he did not know how to. So, instead, he made something up. "Umm, I don't have the... Umm... Right tools with me. So I Cannae dae it. He felt kinda guilty telling her this, but he was embarrassed that he didn't know how. "I`m aware of that Ensign, but I`m concerned that we may need to contact the ship in a hurry or beam out fast". said Yelena. Now he felt even more gulty. What if they needed a quick beam-out? He just hoped that was not going to happen. Kenny noticed that she was looking around at the many boxes that the Ferengi had scattered around the cave. She did not like the look of them. "What is all this anyway? What in Gods name has the Hobgoblin been collecting here?" she added. "I dinnie ken, but tae me, it's just a load of junk. But tae this Ferengi, it's treasure. Kinda reminds me of Goblins from old Earth fantasy tales. They collect useless junk fer nae reason." Yelena walked over and sat down on a rock and looked that Ensign Davies. "Is there something wrong Ensign Davies?" She said. Kenny saw that Davies was sratching at his leg a lot."Perhaps you should have the Doctor look at it again." Kenny walked over to Yelena. Arriving back into the small cavern & the waiting away team however, Braks Ferenginar traits revealed themselves once more as he approached the security chief with an almost lascivious look in his eye. "Lieutenant... "I err... "Have a proposition for you...", said Brak, his body hunching slightly in a typically sly, Ferengi like manner as he approached her. Vasilyovna of course went imediately on her guard, a proposition from a Ferengi usually entailed either a profitable arrangement or a sexual liason of some kind, neither of which she particularly cared for from him!! The very notion caused the security chief to shudder as she contemplated just what he would say next. "Would you... "Perhaps... "Care to... "Purchase a small shuttlecraft?", said Brak. Yelena raised an eyebrow quizically at his words. The Ferengi were known to make bizarre requests of course but his request had been most unexpected to say the least. "Why would I be interesting in buying a shuttlecraft?", she said confused. "Doctor!” Patrick looked up in the direction of the voice, the security officer was huddling the first officer that had apparently collapsed. Standing up Patrick looked over to one of the security crewmen patrolling the area. “Keep an eye on Ensign Davies’ vitals,” Patrick ordered collecting his kit. “Lieutenant Step back,” Patrick stated scanning the Lieutenants body. As the tricorder collected the readings Patrick moved backward and collected a hypospray, after loading the spray he injected it into the Officer’s neck. "Is he going to be ok Doctor?” Patrick stood up and moved closer to the Lieutenant. ”The virus is being detected in Lieutenant Rogers brain directly and no where else. With Davies it spread from his leg upwards, and only rendered him inert after a longer time. This is alarming to say the least Lieutenant,” Patrick stated. "Understood", said Vasilyovna, "as the ranking officer I am now assuming command of the away team until Lieutenant Rogers is able to resume his duties", Patrick nodded and then waited as the Lieutenant gave her orders to the science officer. Concentrating on the First Officers vitals Patrick raised an eyebrow and compared the findings against those of Ensign Davies. The virus was targeting the same sections of the brain and the same organs. With the speed it was moving it seemed unlike any other virus he had encountered before. "I have a feeling Ensign McKenzie might need your attention as well Doctor", Looking up Patrick walked up to the ensign and raised his hand. “Ensign sit down,” Patrick stated. “You will be fine,” Patrick added as a secondary thought. (Reply McKenzie) Looking at the tricorder Patrick attempted to control his reaction. The readings were identical except McKenzie’s infection was travailing from his arm upwards. Smiling Patrick looked to one of the security officers, standing he moved out side of ear shot of McKenzie. "Once Brak returns I’m getting us out of here", said Vasilyovna, "In the meantime everybody be careful about what you touch, I won’t allow the away team to risk any further contamination", Standing relatively close Patrick spoke. “Lieutenant, we cannot return to the ship,” Patrick stated. “I’m making the recommendation that Doctor Williams comes down here with a medical team in hazmat. With out knowing neither the full reason for infection nor how it is contracted since all the infected have had initial infection from separate areas. I cannot condone us returning at all. I seriously doubt that it has been passed via touching anything more than probable it is inhalation combined with contact. Due primarily to the Lieutenants infection direct to the brain, Ensign Davies to his leg first and then moved to the brain and finally Ensign McKenzie who at first sign appears to have contracted from his forearm,” (Reply Vasilyovna) “Lieutenant, I understand completely however medical has authority on such matters. Now you have come into contact with two of the infected physically. Tell me, are you feeling alright?” Patrick enquired, taking readings. (Reply Vasilyovna) “So far all the infected are human, male and the virus is targeting the same areas. They have no commonalities besides these caves. With that in mind, I need to ensure there is no infection in any one else. The speed between infections varies from individual thus indicating there is a relation to ones immune response. The heart is being placed under considerable strain by this, which is why I have injected Davies and Lieutenant Rogers to place them into a medical coma. It will reduce the strain on the body and buy us some time. It appears to have slowed the virus down,” Patrick stated explaining his movements. (Reply Vasilyovna) “I suggest we transport down medical stasis tubes to place Lieutenant Rogers and Ensign Davies inside. Ensign McKenzie will have some more time from the readings I have taken before the virus reaches vital organs. In the mean time I would suggest you take your security teams and get that Ferengi. He might have answers we need,” Patrick stated pausing to think. “I’m going to head to the hole where Ensign Davies fell down and take readings, I have a feeling that might have either awoken some dormant virus or was deliberately designed to do so,” (Reply Vasilyovna) (Reply McKenzie, Vasilyovna, any) (Posted By Rob) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - 19:32) "Okay then Dr Williams what is the most strangest condition you have treated. STDs are just as rife now as they were in the 21st centure." ~pure Mr Broomfile~ Jo shook her head. "The worst two are the Bolian truntion and the Klingon pain stick. Its true the Bolian truntion is when the blood vessels burst which then cause swelling and pain. The Klingon pain stick is as it sounds. The patient has excrutiating pain." Jo smiled. He then turned to Jo. "Lets go and see Private Sanchez." He walked quickly over to his bed. "Okay Mr Sanchez I am discharging you from sickbay." A grin spread across the marines face. "Don't look so happy. If I find that you are not feeling well and do not return you will have to deal with me." He glared at the marine. The words came behind Kenny and interrupted his scans of the boxes. He turned around just in time to see the FO fall and Yelena catching him. He could see just from looking that he was out cold, which did'nt seem possible as he was talking mere moments ago. This puzzled Kenny... And so did that wierd brownish mark on his left hand he just discovered. Kenny froze. He felt a shiver run down his spine. What was this, and was it the reason the Fo had just fainted. Whatever this was, he knew that it was contagious. He did not like the way this was going. Maybe that Troll had somthing to do with it... Kenny would not be in the least suprised if the Ferengi was paid a few bars of Latinum to take the Away Team out. Kenny shook his head. He was getting ahead of himself and he had a job to do. But he could not help feeling more than a little scared. For he knew, he could have only mere minutes to live. That thought did not reaasure him in the slightest. Well, he thought. If I'm gonna die, I might as well die working for StarFleet. He re-opened his tri-corder, took a look at his left hand again, and then again at the boxes. One thing he was picking up in side them was Latinum, but they were in random piles and scattered around the crates. There was other stuff, too; Mostly just piles of metals from all around the universe. Some of them he knew were iron... and was that gold? Kenny walked over to the crate which held it. At first, he didn't wanna open it as he didn't want to make things worse by releasing another virus or something... But then again, how could things get any worse? The lid was already open and so he moved it with ease. He was suprised when he saw that the tri-corder was right. It was gold! Not much of it, it was mostly badly-smelted gold. It had once been something. Maybe a idol or a small statue. Now it was a small lump of smelted gold. Kenny picked it up. Wonder filled him... Gold. All the way here on Tranome Sar... This Ferengi had been around, he thought. "Ensign McKenzie. How are those scans going?" came a voice from behind. Kenny turned to see Yelena. He handed her the gold while giving her the Vulcan Eyebrow. "Umm... This is what I've found... Along with some other stuff. Mostly non valuable metals. But I don't thing this... Plague is from any of these boxes". Kenny said. He suddenly felt the urge to see if he could pick the brown stuff of his arm... (Reply Vasilyovna, Any) (Posted by Gavin Work) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 19:34) The reply from the Science officer was predictable to say the least, these boxes were owned by Brak of course & the thought that they would contain anything less than something of value was wasted when a Ferengi was involved in the mix. "Umm... This is what I've found...", said McKenzie drawing her attention to the gold also. "Along with some other stuff. Mostly unvaluable metals. But I don't think this... Plague is from any of these boxes.", said McKenzie preoccupied as he was with his arm for some reason. Yelena glanced down at the Ensign`s arm as he began picking at it, then she turned to the Doctor where he was still working on the FO. "I have a feeling Ensign McKenzie might need your attention as well Doctor", said Yelena with a sigh upon realising that he might now be affected also. (Reply O'Harper) ~This damn thing is getting out of hand~ "Once Brak returns I`m getting us out of here", said Vasilyovna, "In the meantime everybody be careful about what you touch, I won`t allow the away team to risk any further contamination", she added. (Reply O'Harper, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar - Cave Network – TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 19:35) "Lieutenant, we cannot return to the ship,", said the Doctor as he then went on to explain the why`s a wherefores of his sudden decision to the somewhat exaserbated security chief. "We have no choice Doctor", said Yelena, "we have to return soon as we cannot remain here any longer than we must", she added dismissively. "Lieutenant, I understand completely, however medical has authority on such matters", said O'Harper asserting his authority now as he began quizzing Yelena on how she herself was feeling after having already been in close contact with the infected Rogers. Vasilyovna furrowed her brow in responce & then backed off slightly from the Doctors unsolicited activation of his medical tricorder. "I`m feeling fine Doctor, there`s no need for you to scan me", said the Security chief as she turned about, determined now not to allow whatever this was to compromise her need to lead the away team. The Doctor of course was having none of it, he knew of course that he had authority where the medical safety of the away team members was concerned, ironically Yelena knew it too & she finally had no choice but to give in to his insistence on scanning all of them, including herself. "So far all the infected are human, male and the virus is targeting the same areas", said O'Harper as he began hypothesising on exactly what was happening to those that had secumbed to the mystery virus. He then went on to explain his use of the hypospray to induce coma in Rogers & Davies to slow the advance of the virus. "It will reduce the strain on the body and buy us some time. It appears to have slowed the virus down", said O'Harper, relief now evident upon his face as he backed this up with another reading with his tricorder. Vasilyovna took a deep breath as she contemplated the Doctors advice, she looked about the cavern briefly, then she made an educated & informed judgement on how this would now proceed. "Ok Doctor, bearing in mind we clearly cannot remain here & that we have to return to the Spectre sooner rather than later, what will you require in order for us to do this?", said Vasilyovna. "I suggest we transport down medical stasis tubes to place Lieutenant Rogers and Ensign Davies inside", said O'Harper, Yelena nodding her agreeance as he spoke. "Ensign McKenzie will have some more time from the readings I have taken before the virus reaches vital organs. In the mean time I would suggest you take your security teams and get that Ferengi. "Vasilyovna to Yates, have you found our Ferengi friend yet?", said the Security chief. =/\=Yes sir, he has some equipment he wishes to take with him to the Spectre=/\= "Equipment?", said Yelena, "What sort of equipment?", she added becoming increasingly more annoyed now at Braks very presence in all this. =/\=I`m not sure sir, he say`s that it`s essential & that it will assist Mr Castigan in his quest=/\= "Well get him back here now", said Yelena abruptly, "we have people falling down here with this virus, if he knows how to deal with this now is the time for him to be doing so", she added. =/\=Understood sir, we`ll be with you shortly, Yates out=/\= Vasilyovna then turned to the Doctor who was already making for the cavern exit. "I’m going to head to the hole where Ensign Davies fell down and take readings, I have a feeling that might have either awoken some dormant virus or was deliberately designed to do so", said O'Harper. The cold suit felt reassuring as he sealed him self into it. He picked up the helmet and placed it over his head. ~No time like the present~ He heard the slight hiss as the seals connected. He shut his eyes for a moment concentrating on the sound of his breathing relaxing his mind. ~good never do anything quick in these suits~ He moved around stretching getting the feel for it again. He looked at the information on his wrist display. ~good full tanks. I've got at least two hours worth~ He then broke the seal and took off the helmet and attached it to a hook on his hip. Mostly indicating that either the virus was not airborne or was not being detected by the scanners. Moving closer to the hole that had remained open Patrick leant closer and ran the tricorder over the hole. Breathing a sigh of relief Patrick grinned to himself and reached into his kit for a secure container. After carefully placing the hypospray over the plant Patrick extracted a viable amount and placed it inside the secure container. Pushing on the ground Patrick extended himself to his full height and made his way to the front of the caves where the Tactical officer was awaiting the transport of the stasis tubes. (Reply None) (Posted by Rob) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T'Vhor - 20:00) This latest anomolous reading on their sensors was raising concerns amongst the bridge crew once again, it bore a striking similarity to those they had tracked earlier...nothing conclusive of course but invariably hinting at a Romulan vessel somewhere nearby. To push now however would not be the actions of a sensible Captain & T'Vhor knew that whilst in Romulan space, they would be seen as the aggressors in any confrontation that might unfold. Prudency & tact was what was required here now & the fact that if there was a cloaked vessel nearby, it was obviously aware of them also & clearly not responding. "Keep running your scans Ensign", said T'Vhor to the tactical officer working at the relevant station. "If there are any changes inform me imediately", he added cautiously. (Reply Guildford, Any) NRPG: Just a note. The Romulan vessel should not be revealed here yet, only hinted at.... (Reply Nolly`s) "Does it bear any similarity to the two Zulu Alpha vessels encountered earlier?", said T'Vhor. (Reply Nolly`s) The Captain pondered the information, then he returned to the command chair, theories now forming in his head. (Reply any) (posted by Robbie) (Tranome Sar - Cave Entrance - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 20:25) Ensign Yates had now raised the Spectre in regards the Security chiefs prior order & Captain T'Vhor had been appraised of the situation & the fact that the casualty count had now risen to a possible three away team members. The news had not been too welcomed by Williams at all but O'Harpers request for stasis tubes seemed a reasonable one, regardless of the fact that it may have been easier to just transport those affected directly to bio containment. There was always the possibility however that the transporters might not be able to fully filter out the undisclosed pathogenic virus so the Stasis option was probably better anyway. "You know something Ensign", said Yelena as she took in the surrounding area & the darkening sky as the shroud of dusk began to fall. "Lieutenant?", said Yates turning to face Vasilyovna questioningly. "On any other day that sky would look beautiful, I`ve never seen anything quite like it", said Vasilyovna as she allowed her mind to wander briefly to some of the other strange aurora`s & such she had witnessed in the skies of many a planet beforehand. Yates simply huffed, the beauty of the ionic discharge in the sky completely lost on him as Tranome Sars single moon began to rise over the highest peak now visible to them. "I guess so", he said with a nod as he continued to stare skywards. "Under the circumstances though I would rather see the welcoming star of the Spectre in orbit right now", said Yates, "cloaked though I guess that`s not gonna be", he added as the Security chiefs combadge suddenly chirped into life. =/\=Spectre to away team=/\= "Vasilyovna here, go ahead", said Yelena. =/\=Were ready to beam the tubes to your location now=/\= "Understood, standing by", said Yelena & a few moments later three objects shimmered into view directly before the cave entrance as the transport cycle completed & the stasis tubes materialised into solidity. (Reply Any, None) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar – Cave network entrance – ACMO – Dr Patrick O’Harper – 20:30) Heading up to the tactical officers Patrick cleared his throat to make his presence known. “Lieutenant, I have located our culprit,” (Reply Vasilyovna) “It appears Ensign Davies seemed to have injured a plant in the hole he fell into. This planet when injured seems to excrete a liquid that incapacitates it`s assailant by a neural toxin. With the specimen I have taken, I have a workable sample to perform synthesis of an antibody that I will be able to assist the affected crewmen and inoculate the rest of us. It appears that contact with the liquid causes the damage and due to the nature of the toxin first appears as skin discomfort. It is absorbed by the skin and then uses the blood to carry itself to the brain,” Patrick took a breath. “All in all it is quite an effective little deterrent. It would pass naturally from what I can gather in about 48 hours. However I will be able to speed up the body’s rejection of it since I now have workable samples,” (Reply Vasilyovna) “I would limit physical contact with the infected crew and adhere to quarantine procedures but we at least know that is not airborne therefore the risk to spectre is minimal but still worth precautions,” Patrick stated. Yelena looked to O'Harper, subconsciously reading his facial expressions as she did so, if he was smiling then it would be good news, if not.... well, that didn`t bear thinking about at all. The sooner they got back to the Spectre the better as far as she was concerned & the relaxed expression now being worn by the Doctor indicated good news at least. "Go ahead Doctor, hopefully this is good news", said Yelena as the Doctor nodded his ascent before going on to explain how a plant had defended itself against it`s unexpected attack by Davies when he fell in on top of it. The Doctor however seemed confident he had enough of a sample to formulate an antitoxin & speed the away teams recovery somewhat. "That is good news Doctor", said the Security chief, "we will be leaving the surface soon but if you wish to inform Doctor Williams beforehand of your findings then please go ahead", she added. "As you can see the Stasis tubes have arrived as requested, you may prepare those affected for transport as soon as you wish", said Yelena. The Doctor looked beyond them at the three tubes as she spoke & then nodded before passing further precautions in regards the virus he had found. "I would limit physical contact with the infected crew and adhere to quarantine procedures but we at least know that it is not airborne therefore the risk to spectre is minimal but still worth precautions,", said the Doctor. "A wise precaution, even though it should clear in 48 hours, it`s still 48 hours we would not wish to be without essential personel", said Yelena as the two security officers resumed their path back into the caves. (Reply Any, None) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Tranome Sar - Cave entrance - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 21:05) It had arrived suddenly & completely without warning. A freak weather pattern that was now whipping up a veritable windstorm as the away team prepared to finally leave Tranome Sar. Already they were way beyond the hour maximum that the First Officer had stated for their return & Vasilyovna, as the ranking officer now was eager to get off this planet & back into the relative safety of movement through the cosmos. The Ferengi of course had been predictably awkward regardless of the strong winds, insisting on taking virtually everything he had gathered within his cave, his tailored pockets bulging now with the last of the latimum that he was able to cram upon his person & within the small rucksack he carried upon his back. His diminutive frame looked heavily laden & his awkward gait was even more ungainly than that normally expected of a Ferengi. It was pointless however to persuade him to lighten his load for it was quite clear to everyone that Brak would have rather cut off a limb than leave his precious gains behind on the planet to be found by someone else. It was so typically Ferengi, the Gran Negus himself would have been proud of him! As for the Doctor, he seemed satisfied now that his charges & anything they might be carrying within them were now safely contained within the sterile stasis tubes he`d requested for their transit. It was time now to leave this place. The security chief looked around the area of the cave entrance just briefly to check that they had left nothing behind, then she tapped at her combadge to raise the Spectre as the wind increased from the north. "Vasilyovna to Spectre, we are ready to beam aboard, three pieces of equipment plus.....", said Yelena pausing as she looked to the boxes the Ferengi had brought along with him. "......fourteen standard size storage cases directly to the cargo deck", she added. =/\=Understood Lieutenant, locking onto the stasis tubes now.....beaming them directly to sickbay=/\= Vasilyovna & the rest of the team looked on as the three tubes were engulfed in the familiar shimmer of a tranport as each were dissassembled, molecule by molecule to be beamed away in seconds. I have you now, bringing you aboard=/\= For a moment, the security chief was looking at the trees in the distance as they almost appeared to be on the verge of being uprooted by the increasing storm, the next she was standing within the still calm of the Spectre`s transporter room one, somewhat relieved to be back as she reached up with a hand to straighten her tousled black hair back into place whilst breathing a heavy sigh. Brak of course virtually danced off the pads wasting no time whatsoever to confront the transporter chief as to the whereabouts of his boxes. (Reply Brak) "Your cargo is safely aboard, it is also completely intact with nothing lost", said the chief as he looked to the security chief with a bewildered expression upon his face. "Ensign Yates, escort Daimon Brak to guest quarters, no doubt the Captain will be wanting to speak with you soon Daimon", said Yelena. "Please do not leave your quarters until you are authorised to do so", she added as Yates quickly motioned the Ferengi to follow. Andrew nodded and gave a sigh. =^=How are things going with Lieutenant Rogers & the others Doctor?=^=. Andrew looked up at the ceiling as he tapped his comm badge. He still could not work out why he did that. "Captain. The away team has arrived safely and are under Dr O'Harper`s fine care. As soon as I have any further information I'll notify you immediately." =^=Very well Doctor, keep me informed as to their condition, bridge out.=^= "Anything we can do for the moment." Andrew shook his head still feeling frustrated about not being able to help. "Lets get a drink and wait then eh." Andrew smiled slightly as Jo ushered him to the replicator. The Captain simply nodded at the mention of their new arrival, rogers had informed him of their contact before he had fallen ill & the fact that he would see for himself later exactly who that contact was. What he hadn`t expected though was that he would be a Ferengi & a Daimon at that. "Is our guest in quarters?", said T'Vhor & the security chief responded in the affirmative. "Very well Lieutenant, I need you on tactical with Ensign Guildford for the moment, we are currently tracking an anomoly that may or may not be another cloaked vessel in orbit of Tranome Sar or it`s vicinity", said the Captain, "Ensign Guildford will update you accordingly", he added as he quickly opened a channel to sickbay for an update on their casualty situation. It was no suprise to him that the away team had been beamed directly to sick bay, along with the sample test tubes. He was about to walk about, when he realised that they would most likely be in quarantine, so he just leaned against the wall. He looked at his hand and saw that the brown patch of skin on his hand had moved up his arm a little, but not much else had happened... That he could see. He hoped that the Medical Staff had some kind of cure. He was sure that they had, or if not, that they would be working on one right now. That was what the test tubes were for, he knew. "Where are my boxes? You've stolen my boxes!!" he shrieked. "Your cargo is safely aboard, it is also completely intact with nothing lost", said the chief as he looked to the security chief with a bewildered expression upon his face. Seemingly appeased, the squat Ferengi muttered under his breath; "Ship of thieves…" "Ensign Yates," the Security Chief called out from the transporter pad, "escort Daimon Brak to guest quarters, no doubt the Captain will be wanting to speak with you soon Daimon. Please do not leave your quarters until you are authorised to do so." "I wouldn`t expect any of our female crew to be as forthcoming as you might wish them to be though Daimon", said Yates. (Reply Brak, IYW) The Ferengi seemed unphased by the security officers words, it seemed he felt his ability to charm would get him more or less anywhere with anyone & he was'nt going to let Yates`s rebuttal change that assumption in the slightest as he smiled graciously at any female that just happened to be walking by them. He hurriedly unloaded the latinum he'd carried in his pockets and stashed his hoard away inside a folded towel in the storage unit. He danced himself into the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, taking note of the stars streaking by the window. He cackled to himself; "Away we go!" He was settling quite comfortably into the Spectre's Strategic Operations Centre and had activated the computer algorithm to keep him advised of key events on the bridge. It was quite a handy system. Filtering out the extraneous tittle-tattle of daily life in the Spectre's command hub, whilst leaving him the core essence of their changing mission, in-line with his clearance as Strategic Operations Officer, of course. There was quite a mass of information waiting to be gone through when he'd arrived. Various reports and memos regarding the state of play through the Federation, a few notes on key personnel and big players on the galactic stage, as well as a healthy level of information regarding the other major powers. It suited Korak to start with those that seemed to play a part in their current mission, all the more so given the Romulan connection. A small alarm alerted him that the ship had gone to warp, and he called up the heading so he could investigate the recent information on their destination. Korak continued to read. It had simply been a gesture, nothing more. A way of saying 'There you go, this is for you'... Brak however had missed the point entirely as he deposited a slither of gold pressed latinum into the officers raised hand before proceeding into his quarters. Yates looked down at the bar in his hand quirkilly. It had been duly warmed by being in Braks pocket but it`s warmth seemed tinged with an underlying objective of some sort. ~A Ferengi, giving away his wealth!!!~ "What would you have me do in return for this I wonder?", asked Yates enquiringly. (Reply Brak) Yates looked down at the bar, then he slipped it into his pocket after the Ferengi had assured him by all that was profitable that it was simply a gift, nothing more. "I would never stoop so low or so stupid as to attempt to bribe one with the impeccable moral fibre of a Starfleet officer," the Ferengi leered. "Think of it as a gift, in exchange for the efforts you've taken to make my stay to comfortable so far from home." The Captain of course imediately turned to the source of the 'Command', for that was what it was, a virtual command! "Mr Castigan?", said T'Vhor raising an eyebrow in concern. "We have no time to waste Captain, we need to make haste", said Castigan as he let himself into the Captains ready room, much to the obvious alarm of the rest of the bridge crew. T'Vhor however remained completely calm, anything other than that from a Vulcan would have appeared even stranger than Castigan`s behaviour. As it was though, the Captain simply stood & turned to Nollys at the science console. "You have the bridge Lieutenant", said T'Vhor as he too entered his ready room to confront the apparent arrogance of the presidential aide. The moment the door was closed however, Castigan began again only to be cut short by the raising of a hand by the Captain who was already moving to his chair to take a seat. "Before we go any further Mr Castigan, I feel a need to point out that on a starfleet vessel it is the Captain that ultimately gives the orders, not yourself", said T'Vhor, his expression not changing at all as he spoke now. "To come onto the bridge & make demands before all my senior officers is both undermining & above all else, undiplomatic, I would appreciate it if you would not do this again", said the Captain. Castigan expression changed briefly at the Captains retort, then it softened a little as he let out a sigh & then nodded in agreeance. "I apologise Captain, you are correct of course, it was improper behaviour on my part but it is important that we leave here imediately", said Castigan as he moved towards the viewing window to gaze out into space. "To where exactly Mr Castigan?", said T'Vhor. "There are two possibilities Captain, one is Carraya IV, the other is Gharab VII, I personally believe that Carraya IV is the more likely & that this is where we will find the president", said Castigan, "but we must go now as I have reason to believe that others are close to discovering his wherabouts.", said Castigan. T'Vhor said nothing as he brought his fingers together before him in contempation, then he looked to the robed Castigan. "Why Carraya IV & not Gharab VII Mr Castigan?", said T'Vhor realising now that if they chose the wrong destination, the life of the President might be forfeit. To be honest, Castigan wasn`t sure why, a hunch perhaps, a little supposition may`be, but above all else the fact that he knew the president & the way his mind worked. Carraya IV was the most likely destination now. "Not Gharab VII", said Castigan shaking his head as the stakes were raised increasingly now. "It will be Carraya IV, make your course for there Captain", he added moving to stand before T'Vhor`s table to place both hands upon it as he leaned towards him. "Carraya IV" repeated Castigan, his face taking on a look of quiet determination now. The Captain paused again to run the choices through his mind. The Gharab system was indeed an unlikely destination for humans were regarded as prey there, but then again that could be a good enough reason for Nell to go there, who would think he would go there after all. Castigans choice however still seemed the most logical, the man seemed so sure now. T'Vhor nodded once. "Carraya IV then", he said, "Let us hope you are not wrong Mr Castigan", he added as Castigan straightened himself up from his leaning position to seat himself in the chair opposite with a sigh. As the virus and the anti body encountered each other Patrick held his breath and then grinned as the antibody began to bond and secure the receptors of the virus. (reply Patrick) (reply Patrick, any ) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – ACMO – Dr Patrick O’Harper – 21:52) "I'll read the report but just give me the basics of the inoculation and symptoms?" “The symptoms seem to have arisen from a Plant that Ensign Davies had disturbed. When it was injured it released a neural toxin, designed to incapacitate the attacker. The virus enters the body through the skin or any part of the body that it encounters and then enters the blood stream heading for the brain. From what we saw with Ensign Davies his infection occurred from his leg and moved rapidly to his brain. Lieutenant Rogers became infected from what I can gather from a small amount of virus that encountered his neck, thus the Lieutenants symptoms were more rapid and incapacitated him more rapidly. Finally Ensign McKenzie became infected from touching Lieutenant Rogers’ infected neck. From what I can gather the virus remains active on the skin even after passing through therefore the infection was a clear danger and the stasis tubes were used,” Patrick paused and took a breath. It was a lot of information to give and he was if anything he was regurgitating his report. “The inoculation was produced by separating the base proteins of the sample I gathered of the plant. Once the base proteins had been separated it was easy enough to remove the viral aspect of the infection and thus produce an antibody for the virus,” "I can see that you had an interesting away mission. How are you doing?" Patrick raised his eyebrow; it was a peculiar question considering the circumstances. Patrick respected the Doctors question it was nice to know there was actual interest there. However it had thrown him a little. “I’m good; I have to admit I was worried to start with it was a large concern when the away team started to fall ill. However I’m glad all things ended well,” Patrick stated. "How long do you think Lieutenant Rogers and Ensign Davies will take to recover? Do you want us to treat them in the quarantine area or do you think that they are okay to be brought here?" ”From the simulations minor infected members should be back to normal in a few hours. Lieutenant Rogers and Ensign Davies being more advanced in their infection will require more time to be fit for duty. However initial scans are showing marked improvement. I think now I have introduced the antibodies it would be fine to bring the infected crew into general population. However I would of course bring a certain level of caution and restrict contact to only trained crew, and of course minimise contact,” Patrick stated not wishing to tell the CMO his own job. However he wanted to appear to be concisions about the situation. The readouts were already showing a ninety eight percent efficiency rating of course, but then two percent was two percent. Nothing less than a hundred was desirable to a perfectionist such as she though & by the time the CO had given her the bridge & left for his ready room, they were duly at the required figure of one hundred. The swish of an opening turbolift door however, now heralded the arrival of the chief medical officer who quickly scanned the bridge before heading out onto it & thence directly to Yelena as she sat in the centre seat. "Miss Vasilyovna is the Captain in the ready room?" "Yes Doctor, he is", said Yelena, opening her mouth to continue on with the conversation by way of a polite, 'how are things in sickbay' sort of manner. It`s arrival however had not gone unnoticed as another vessel had imediately disengaged it`s tractor lock on the much smaller shuttle & targetted the Spectre the moment it dropped out of warp. "Red alert, ready all weapons", said the Captain in responce & imediately the red glow of the annunciators & klaxons began sounding around the ship as the tactical chief began scanning the hostile without prompting. "The vessel is transmitting no identification sir, her shields are up & her weapons are locked", said Vasilyovna. "The shuttle`s power is offline, one lifeform is aboard, Human sir", she added. "Shield & weapons strength of the enemy vessel Lieutenant?", said T'Vhor questioningly. "She`s reasonably armed but no match for the Spectre sir", said Yelena. That much at least was a relief, another encounter with a ship of the Zulu Alpha catagory was not something T'Vhor wished to go up against right now, the vessel now in their gunsights however was not responding any further other than holding their position having clearly assessed the firepower of the Spectre & realising that they were clearly no match for it. "Attempt to hail them Lieutenant", said the Captain & the Security chief quickly complied to bring a rather complacent, shifty looking individual up on their viewscreen. "This is Captain T'Vhor of the Federation vessel USS Spectre, you have attacked one of our shuttles, please explain yourselves imediately", said T'Vhor. The face on the screen, presumably the humanoid Captain of the vessel simply shrugged dismissively in responce. "I am Sunar, we did not attack your shuttle Captain", he added. "We assumed it was derelict & are claiming salvage rights", said the alien Captain. "I find that hard to believe", said T'Vhor in a calm & typically Vulcan tone, "you surely have ascertained that there is someone onboard the shuttle, are you claiming salvage rights on our personel also?", he added with a raise of an eyebrow. Sunar bowed his head in aquiescence, then he turned to one of his own bridge officers & ordered him to lower their shields & disengage weapons. "A simple mistake Captain, our sensors are currently malfunctioning, we assumed there was nobody aboard the vessel & that it had been discarded", said Sunar, obviously not entirely telling the truth now. "In the interests of diplomacy I will accept your explanation of the events", said T'Vhor, "your actions however has been logged & will be reported to starfleet for further investigation", said T'Vhor, "you will depart the area & not interfere with this or any other federation vessel is that understood", he added. "Entirely Captain", said Sunar clearly realising that to go against the Federation vessel now would be madness as he quickly ordered their helm officer to leave the area as requested. "Stand down from red alert, bring the shuttle into hanger bay two", said T'Vhor once the vessel had left, "once it is aboard re-establish our previous course & heading to the Carraya system", he added as he stood to head towards his ready room. (Reply Any, IYW) "Have the shuttles occupant report to medical & then to myself for imediate assessement & debrief", said T'Vhor, "You have the bridge Lieutenant Nolly`s", he added as he retreated forthwith to his ready room. Yet here she was, no harm done. A grin spread across her face as she was instructed to report to medical and then to the captain. "Right away," she affirmed, still wondering at her health after such a harrowing experience. Unless, of course, this was all a hallucination and she were unconscious--or worse. She hopped out of the shuttle, choosing not to consider the possibility. Finding her way to medical posed a small problem, but she found it soon enough. With a sigh of relief, she stepped inside. "I must be here. I never dream about doctors," she said to herself, still used to keeping herself company by speaking aloud. ~Have to stop doing that. People will think I'm crazy.~ (Reply Any) (Posted by Siobhan) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – ACMO – Dr Patrick O’Harper - 23:45) Patrick wandered around sickbay the joy of finding the solution to the toxin beginning to wear a little thin. Looking around Patrick hopped onto a bio bed and sat poking away at his tricorder hoping for some inspiration to occur and well some one in need of anything. With his mind starting to go to sleep after the excitement of the away mission a young officer walked in wearing yellow. Thus clearly indicating that she was either from tactical, security or engineering. Hopping down from the bed Patrick walked over. “Hello, I haven’t seen you around here before, have I?” Patrick enquired, sounding half dazed and like he had just been injecting himself with some hydoprioxin. (Reply Bristed) “Ahh welcome, my name is Doctor Patrick O’Harper. What can I do for you today?” (Reply Bristed) “Well I can start you off and then I will get Doctor Williams to finalise your medical and sign off on things,” Patrick stated looking down to his tricorder and beginning to take readings from the Engineer. He was about to get up and talk to her when he saw that Patrick had got there before him. He smiled to himself and then looked back at the PADD in his hand. He was finishing off the reports about Lieutenant Rogers, Ensigns Davies and McKenzie. He had informed the Captain earlier but every thing had to be documented which takes time. NRPG: Alan I'll back post once I get a better idea from Rob's post. RPG: He saw Jo sitting in the corner of his office looking at him. "What?" She shook her head slightly. "Your doing it again?" "OW come on Jo. I've been the only doctor on this ship for some time now It's going to take some getting use to having another doctor on board as well." Jo nodded and looked down at her PADD. Andrew stared at her for a moment. "What are you doing anyway." She looked back up at him. "I'm writing my report about you." Andrew's face fell. "Really!" Jo's face split into a grin. "No I'm going through the routine status report the SFI sent me." "Anything interesting?" Jo shook her head "No it's all routine." With that she went back to her PADD. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – ACEO – Jacqueline Bristed - 23:48) Jacqueline was accustomed to being noticed relatively quickly in medical facillities of any sort, but this must have been a record. A doctor not much older than her leapt to his feet and greeted her, sounding a bit like he was off in his own little world. “Hello, I haven’t seen you around here before, have I?” he asked. "No, not unless I have a twin onboard," she answered with a smile. "I'm Jacqueline Bristed, newly arrived. Pleased to meet you!" she said brightly. “Ahh welcome, my name is Doctor Patrick O’Harper. What can I do for you today?” Jacqueline brought her arms in front of her, making a show of scrutinizing herself carefully. After checking over her arms, legs, and making quite a performance of checking for dirt under her nails, she answered O'Harper's question. "Well, I can't see anything wrong with me, but they don't trust me on that. I'm supposed to get a checking over before I start being useful onboard." She wasn't sure why she felt compelled to make stupid jokes; maybe it had something to do with nearly getting killed a bit earlier. “Well I can start you off and then I will get Doctor Williams to finalise your medical and sign off on things,” the doctor told her, beginning his scans as he spoke. "Could you do me a favor?" Jacqueline asked suddenly."I had a bit of trouble getting here and I'm not quite certain I'm not dreaming this whole thing up." (reply O'Harper, iyw) "You would tell me if I were dead though, or unconscious, right?" She smiled when she said it, making it into a joke, despite the annoying thought that perhaps that was exactly what had happened.
