" Amari was still studying the screen. If the ship were a plant, and part of the plant were dying what would she do? She was trying to put this into a frame of reference that she understood. "Is there any way for the deflector dish to accelerate the deterioration? " Amari vaguely remembered something like that from her academy class. She sneaked a glance at the Ensign quickly. "For the sensors? Detecting chronitons and tachyons aren't easy, we could probably manage to put something together to pick them up. As to wearing a piece out, if we could generate a pulsating graviton beam, and target the cloaked vessel we might be able to wear it out or at least confuse the computer enough to cause the cloak to fail." Emma said. "Gravity effects the fabric of space/time, it bends it, like putting a tennis ball onto a piece of stretched out fabric, it makes a small dent. the bigger the mass or gravity well, the bigger the dent in space time. Now think of the gravity beam like you running on a tread mill, as long as the pace is steady, it's pretty easy, but if someone were to turn the speed up and down really quickly, you'd have a hard time staying up right. Assuming the whole premise of the temporal cloak is correct in the first place, the ship would need a massive amount of computing power to cope with that kind of stress." Emma said standing up straight and looking at the screen. (Reply Riya) (Posted by Patrick D.) (USS Spectre – Bridge – Ensign (jg) Roann Morgan – 17:45) Roann walked onto the Bridge. She wanted to get reporting in over with and on with her duty. She was already making wonderful impression being late. That was not her fault, but it did not matter. She walked strongly to the command chair where she saw the first officer. “Ensign Roann Morgan reporting for Duty” Roann was stiff at attention. She had her orders at hand and that hand was extended in and offering to the FO. (Replies any) (posted by Kris Bailey) (USS Spectre - Bridge – FO, Commander Michael Ian O'Connor – 17:46) Michael looked up when the turbolift door opened. A new face walked in and headed down the ramps towards him. The hollow pip on the collar gave the new Officer's intent away before she reached him. "Ensign Roann Morgan reporting for Duty" Roann was stiff at attention. She had her orders at hand and that hand was extended in and offering to the FO. Michael took the PADD and quickly read over the orders, then stood up. "Lets go to the observation lounge," Michael said, gesturing for the Ensign to follow him as he informed Ops that they had the Conn. (Reply Morgan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – Ensign Roann Morgan - 17:47) "Take a seat Ensign, I hope your trip out here wasn't too long," Michael said with a smile. “I was able to finish my book. I say it was the perfect length.” Roann said honestly. She did finish a book on the trip. "Tell me, why did you join Star Fleet?" Michael asked. Roann was frustrated with that question. She decided to give the same answer as she did before. “Isn’t that rather a very personal question given we just met. The reasons behind my choices are personal. When I get to know you , Sir, I will open up. Starfleet is a way of life that I have chosen.” (Reply O’Connor) “My specialties are flight and engineering. They have been since before I could walk.” Roann may have exaggerated but she had wanted this for as long as she could remember. (Reply O’Connor) (Posted by Kris Bailey) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – FO, Commander Michael Ian O'Connor - 17:49) "Tell me, why did you join Star Fleet?" Michael asked. The frustration was clear on the Ensign's face, and the answer didn't try to hide it. "Isn't that rather a very personal question given we just met. The reasons behind my choices are personal. When I get to know you , Sir, I will open up. Starfleet is a way of life that I have chosen." "Be careful, Ensign. It may be a personal question, Ensign, but it has a direct relevance as to your motivations, and as the First Officer of the Spectre and your superior, it has a relevance to me as to how you're going to behave. I've seen people join for the wrong reasons, and when push came to shove, they let people down and couldn't cut it. I've got enough reports from the Academy on you to know that's not you, at least they say it's not, so we'll leave the question for another time." Michael said, his voice taking on a firm tone. "Moving on, what did you major in at the Academy?" Michael asked, even though he already knew from her orders. "My specialties are flight and engineering. They have been since before I could walk." Roann said. "Good, you're going to get a chance to do both...kind of." Michael said, and made a few notations on his PADD. "I'm assigning you as a joint Conn/Ops officer. Your primary duty will be as helm officer, and shuttle pilot I imagine, however you're engineering, and associated resource management skills will be very useful at Ops as well. On a ship like the Spectre, it's always good to have a little cross training, we get some interesting assignments, and in a pinch it will be good to have someone who can jump chairs if needed. Does that sound doable to you?" Michael asked. "Lets, see, explosion happened at roughly 13:30 hours, East side of the government building, but I haven't run the simulations to nail it down even more. The explosion caused major structural damage and mass casualties. No biological or chemical agents have been detected. Security has managed to get most of the sensor data from the surrounding buildings as well as what they could from the Government building itself," Jerral said punching the commands into the PADD, the holodeck forming around them, leaving them with a birds eye view of the Government building, it's Eastern side lying in ruins. "So, what do you want to do first?" Doug thought a little, he looked at the results of explosion. ~~ Hmm... ~~ thought Doug while flipping through results of sensor footage ~~ There is too much damage on that building for one bomb, I don't see any radiation data so it has to be conventional explosives, much easier to carry into a building with so high security, no background energy readings. This had to be planned for a long time, conventional explosives don't have enough yield to do so much damage, as a single bomb, I see a couple of places when they should be placed to collapse the whole east wing. I'm almost sure that we will find clues of it's usage when we tear that place apart, but now we don't have time to do this. And almost no damage was done to the surrounding buildings, it was intended work. Not a professional job but also not amateur. ~~ "Weps" - said Bovitzky - "looks like we have an assassination attempt here, not just amateur work , somebody planned that the building will collapse, I suppose that they used conventional explosives, not much yield but a couple of them in important structural nodes. Thats what I think for now, Any comment Warrant Revan?" (Reply Revan) "OK, chief I agree" - " Can You try to get something more from the locals, what we have has some holes in the data, please contact Ushari Security Force and try to dig out something. "We should probably check to see if any fragments of the bomb were recovered." "OK, chief i agree. Can You try to get something more from locals, what we have has some holes in data, please contact Ushari Security Force and try to dig out something. I'll try to have some more data on casualties form our medical teams" "I'll do my best, I'll call their Explosive disposal unit, see if they have something for us. I'll file my report as soon as I have something," Jerral said before nodding to the Ensign and walking out of the room as he called the Doctor. ~~He'll do.~~ Jerral thought as he hung a right out into the corridor and headed for his office. Lets get back to businness~ "Computer, run visual presentation of explosion , start time minus 30 seconds before explosion , quarter speed , go " Bovitzky turned his attention to the visualisation as it started. First 2 minutes was silent almost low pedestrian traffic around complex, nothing unordinary. Then the building shook , glass flown out of the windows, and some small parts of building flown like bullets along, crashing finally on surrounding buildings. Then the collapse started it was chaotic , it started in many places small fires of collapse around whole wing, this meant that there was couple independent wirings , probably controlled by one signal. Doug understood this technique. Not so powerful but hard to find explosives, even if security found one element rest would be safe. Explosion was set to kill as many people as it could, nobody cared about timings, better results could be set only by properly timed web of explosives, it could collapse whole wing killing almost 100% of people. Something was not right, if attackers could wire up whole wing why not wire rest of building. Somebody made a lot of effort co cover something. Terrorist attack it was very nice explanation of somebodys death, but terrorist attack was always preceded by warnings from various maniacs. Here nothing like that happened. Terrorist never had any reason, but they attacked to get audience. Assasinations are always silent, no proofs yet but Doug had strong feeling that, somebody or group of somebodies had to die there, rest was just smoke screen. He had indeed lost count of the times that he had entered and exited the field hospital during this particularly difficult mission of mercy, and he was kinda looking forwards to finally putting his feet up in the Ten Forwards lounge. For now though, Arrun placed his own Caduceous marked Medical pack next to his feet as he took his place in the ship. His last call had been a difficult one, the patients injuries had been so severe that cryostasis had been necessary to stabilise him before beamout, by now of course that patient would be in the Spectre's ITU under the expert care of one of the medical team that had remained on board for such emergencies and it was with that thought in mind that he rested his head back onto the bulkhead and closed his eyes briefly, the steady sound of personnel returning to the ship resounding in his ears as he did so. Opening his eyes again, he watched the CMO himself turn about to address them all, he looked tired, his uniform, like all of theirs was dirtied from kneeling upon scorched earth and muck whilst he had tended the wounded to the best of his abilities. Arrun noticed the blood that caked his hands and trailed up towards his rolled up sleeves as he spoke, his intent though never waivered once, irrespective of his current state of obvious and clear exhaustion. "First I want to thank every one for their hard work today. Many people will live because of what we have done today so thank you. We are packing up and returning to the spectre. So lets get ready to move." the CMO had said before taking a seat himself and then nodding towards the pilot to commence whatever actions pilots did before initiating take off and navigation back into open space. Arrun smiled, the CMO's words meant a lot of course but he knew as well as them all that that is what they were here for, they had taken oath to uphold the sanctity of life in whatever form it took, it was what they did. Looking over to Williams as he sat opposite him though, Arrun spoke directly to him. "Sir, you did some wonderful work too you know", he said, "I think you should give yourself a pat on the back too". (Reply Williams) "Nevertheless sir, we are nothing without a good team leader", said the MA with a smile. (Reply Williams, IYW) The Thunder Hammer then rocked just slightly as the pilot closed the hatch and then meandered the craft skywards towards the cavernous entrance through which it had first passed hours beforehand. "Nevertheless sir, we are nothing without a good team leader", said the MA with a smile. Andrew shrugged trying not to let his embarrassment show. He quickly recalled the persons name. "Thank you Mr D'Orega, I appreciate that." He felt the Thunder Hammer begin to take of and leaned back in his seat. He realised how tired he was and how good it would be to get back to the spectre. He did enjoy these little away missions to get him out and about but there was nothing so nice as getting home. ~Better get started with my notes~ As the pilots began their assent into orbit he pick up his PADD and began to draft a report to the captain. Now, if it had actually resembled one of her favourite Russian folk songs, even slightly, then that might have been a pleasant distraction but with only three notes to the specific sensor data she had been analyzing, that was not at all possible. The resonant ping continued on unabated. The Thunder Hammer had cleared the docking field two minutes beforehand, it's engines now offline and the doors opened to allow the spill of those contained safely within, the comfort of placing their feet firmly back onto the reliable decking plates of the Spectre's hanger. It was obvious that the majority were well in need of some rest now, the medical teams in particular with their uniforms dirtied from kneeling down, or even laying upon the mud of Ushar Prime to do their work had faired particularly worse. Vasilyovna had nothing but admiration for them. However, it was not them that she had come to see. Looking about the bay, Yelena lifted her head back to gain a little height whilst she spied for the blonde mopped head of the man that had quickly become her Nemesis. It wasn't that the SFI man was a bad apple of course it was just that candor of his, he certainly had a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and ever since he had joined, and then subsequently returned from Starfleet Intelligence, the Security Chief had had a feeling about him. She wasn't often wrong either... "Ahh, Lieutenant Commander Rogers....sir", she said, the expression upon her face settling into a kinda 'got you' look as she spoke and then respectfully added the 'sir' afterwards. (Reply Rogers) His response had been typical of course and had resulted in a predictable sidestep. Yelena sighed and shook her head. ~Leopards never change their spots~ she thought to herself. "I am not interested in where you have to be right now Lieutenant Commander, as the Security Chief, I believe that you and I need to talk", said Yelena. (Reply Rogers) "We can talk whilst we walk, but I would rather we did so in the comfort of my office..... if you don't mind sir", she added. (Reply Rogers) The two then left the drop ship bay and began walking the corridor towards the nearest turbolift and the deck Ten destination that would soon follow. (Reply Rogers, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Dropship Bay - SFI Agent - Lt. Commander Brian Rogers - 19:58) The sights and sound of the attack sight had of course taken their affect on the Commander. He was one of the closest Starfleet officers to ground zero of the attack, as he was on a 'semi-legal' mission from Captain T'Vhor himself. Of course, the bombing took precedent, and Rogers became a first-responder and rendered aid to the vicitms of the attack. After coming back with the first grouping of medical officers, Brian saw his uniform was dirty and scarred from being so close to the initial blast. He was lucky to be alive, to say the least. Once the dropship was secured in the Bay, Rogers quickly got off and headed for the large doors at a swift pace when he heard a familiar voice. "Ahh, Lieutenant Commander Rogers....sir" The Russian TAC/SEC called. Rogers turned and frowned slightly before granting her a quick smile. "Sorry, Yelena. I urgently need to file a report about what transpired down there," Rogers said, trying to remain friendly, but with a curt tone to his voice. "I am not interested in where you have to be right now Lieutenant Commander, as the Security Chief, I believe that you and I need to talk" "Can we walk and talk, Lieutenant? I'd like to put this behind me," Brian replied. "We can talk whilst we walk, but I would rather we did so in the comfort of my office..... if you don't mind sir" Yelena said. Rogers nodded and started following her. "Very well," he said to the TAC/SEC. "You know, Vasilyovna, I always feel ackward when you call me, sir. Don't you think it's unjust that a little rebel rouser like me outranks you?" Rogers asked plainly while they stepped into a turbolift. Don't you think it's unjust that a little rebel rouser like me outranks you?", he quizzed. Vasilyovna smiled a slight smile and then pursed her lips, now there was something new. Rogers actually admitting that he was a regular fly in the ointment, this was not something you saw every day, that much was for sure. "Rebel rouser Mr Rogers!", said Yelena, both her eyebrows going skywards in surprise as she spoke. "You?..... am I hearing this correctly?" (Reply Rogers, IYW) Vasilyovna laughed at the response. "Brian... you don't mind if I call you Brian do you?", she added wryly, "after all, you HAVE just intonated that you feel awkward my calling you sir, irrespective of our rank differences", said Yelena. (Reply Rogers) "I'm easy", said Yelena, immediately regretting the use of such a term in the presence of a man that would not be able to resist a double entendre of some sort. "No, I take that back....", snapped the Chief, "Brian, don't you dare go there", she added immediately changing tact to the jist of the matter for which she required his presence. "Ushar Prime?.....You were the man on the ground, I'm the Security chief, I need to know what you know Brian.... come on, enlighten me", said Yelena as the turbolift duly arrived at deck Ten to allow the two officers to step out and continue on their way. She watched with bright blue eyes as she approached the Spectre, more than a little apprehensive about her first day on the job. She received clearing to dock and did so, turning off the engines and pocketing her music disc – Romulan Ballads, one of her favorites. She stepped out, tugged instinctively on her jacket, and headed towards the doors at the other end of the shuttle bay. They walked side by side to the Security office and Roger cleared his throat and looked at the floor. "Well," he began. "I was under classified orders from Captain T'Vhor," Rogers began. "When I was close to the government building and I witnessed the bomb going off," he said. (reply Vasilyovna) "I don't know what kind of explosive it was. I was too close to the blast to properly observe it and I didn't have my tricorder out at the time," he offered. (reply Vasilyovna, any) (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - Captain T'Vhor - 20:05) "..... understood Lieutenant, have the Ensign report to my ready room once she has disembarked", said the Captain as the channel closed just prior to a curt 'aye sir' from the shuttle bay. The communique concerning the newly arriving officer had arrived some four hours beforehand of course, and it had subsequently been bogged down amidst a hundred and one actions regarding the chaos currently ensuing on the surface. With the Spectre now in some state of stand down however, the matter had come to the CO's mind again immediately following the announcement of the Jiro's request to dock from the Ops station on the bridge. Until her actual arrival however, the CO had spun himself around in his chair and pulled up the Ensign's file for a perrusal on precisely what to expect. Trill's of course were not a new addition to the USS Spectre, nor were they particularly lacking throughout the 52nd fleet, this Trill however apparently had a quirky side, a liking for mischief it would seem. The Captain made a mental note of that and briefly allowed his mind to wander to the seemingly ubiquitous Mr Roger's, a likely candidate for the new ACSO if ever there was. Reading through the file further revealed that Ensign Danil had majored in Temporal Physics, another mental note was duly made. In his prior communique with 52nd fleet command, it had been intonated that the Spectre was earmarked to be re-routed on a classified mission that would require heavy science involvement. It would be interesting to see how this new Officer faired in that. It was with that thought ensconsed firmly in his mind though, that the chime to the ready room sounded and the Captain bade the requisite officer to enter. The door slid aside with it's usual hiss and in she walked, coming to attention on the opposite side of the Captains desk as she did so. (Reply Danil) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Security Chief's Office - TAC/SC Lt Yelena Vasilyovna - 20:07) Vasilyovna's brow showed the distinct dissatisfaction of the SFI man's last comment within a second of it's actual utterance. She had stopped briefly in her tracks, turning towards the grinning Rogers as she had, then she had let out a heavy sigh and had curtly entered her office, the SFI man in tow of course. "Classified mission?", snapped the Chief as she swung in abruptly behind her desk and then took her seat without even offering Rogers the seat opposite. The ommision was of little consequence of course, Rogers did what was expected and took the seat anyway. "From the Captain himself?", exclaimed Vasilyovna, completing her last sentence. (Reply Rogers) "I'm not in the habit of being kept in the dark Mr Rogers", said Vasilyovna, her previous ease and familiarity with the man dissipating now as easily as some gaseous vapour as she returned to the 'Mr Roger's' line of address. "Why wasn't I informed of this?", she added. (Reply Rogers) Vasilyovna sighed and strummed her fingers heavily upon the desk, then she changed tact, clear now that SFI in it's usual indignance was still very much in evidence within the man seated opposite her. "So....explosive type?", said Vasilyovna, "any idea at all, or is that classified too?", she asked. "I don't know what kind of explosive it was. I was too close to the blast to properly observe it and I didn't have my tricorder out at the time", said Rogers somewhat flippantly. ~Of course you didn't~ thought Vasilyovna as Rogers simply shrugged that same shrug he used that invariably said that he knew more than he was actually letting on. Vasilyovna pondered the available facts anyway. It seemed a little far fetched but perhaps the SFI man was in fact being honest this time, it would be a first since he'd joined the hallowed ranks of Starfleet Intelligence maybe but then that didn't mean that he never had been beforehand. "So", said Yelena continuing on now with a slight sidestep, "there were a lot of casualties down there....in fact Brian, it was a relative bloodbath, wouldn't you agree?", she asked. "Yeah, there were some serious amount injured or killed" said Rogers. Vasilyovna nodded and then leaned back into her chair, exhaling heavily as she did so. Whether he was telling the entire truth or not about any of this was neither here nor there, the Lieutenant Commanders almost relaxed candor bothered her somewhat though, how could he be so nonchallant about something like that? Had SFI torn out his soul perhaps? "Brian, you and I are on the same side Da?", she asked, resorting to his christian name once again. (Reply Rogers) "And it's feasable to say that we both have the same outcome in mind, namely that we nail the SOB's responsible for this quite unacceptable carnage in as short a time as we are able, given ALL of the available data?", she added. (Reply Rogers) "Then Mr Rogers, I implore you, give me something new", said Vasilyovna, hoping now that the man wasn't just going to be a prize jerk his entire Starfleet career. Olivaw smiled slightly and nervously took the proffered seat, keeping her eyes squarely on the Captain. She hated to admit it, but she was – nervous – at being in the Captain's ready room, and sitting down at that. She resisted the overwhelming urge to rub the spots on her temple. ~Relax,~ Danil crooned at her in the back of her mind, ~You'll do fine.~ "I trust that your journey was a smooth and uneventful one?", inquired the Captain as the Ensign took the offered seat. "Oh yes sir," Olivaw replied, her face brightening, "almost nothing happened on my way here. I had to make a slight detour for a subspace distortion; a naturally occurring one, but a distortion nonetheless." She hoped the Captain didn't take her curiosity the wrong way; a bad impression would be disastrous. (Reply T'Vhor) "Yes sir." Olivaw answered, feeling her spots grow a shade or two darker. She couldn't help it if her curiosity got the better of her. It was part of her Trill nature. Sometimes it was a good thing, sometimes it got her in trouble. This time, she wasn't really sure which one it was - trouble or compliment. She decided to change the subject, something she was rather good at doing. "Sir, may I ask what my assignment on board Spectre will be?" (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Sarah) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room – Captain T'Vhor - 20:20) The Ensign seemed nervous. It was to be expected of course, most new arrivals when faced with the most senior officer on the ship experienced such feelings, indeed, even the Captain himself had perchanced to experience such an 'Emotion', courtesy of his Betazoid half of course, when he had faced HIS first tour of duty under Captain Lowell aboard the USS Cochrane. Irrespective of this however, the Spectre's Captain had always tried to maintain some semblance of a bridge between himself as the CO of the boat, and how his crew viewed him, preferring not to distance himself too much from the rank and file so to speak. It never hurt to remember ones own humble beginnings after all. Ensign Danil's reply to the Captain's question regarding her journey, seemed to ease her nerves somewhat though as she remarked, almost brightly on the 'distortion' that had distracted her en route. Her true inquisitive nature was shining already, the sure marque of a good Science officer for sure. "Better a naturally occurring distortion than one created deliberately with intent to cause unnecessary obstruction", said the Captain, his eyebrow rising skywards in typical Vulcan fashion as he spoke. The ACSO nodded appropriately, clearly reminiscing upon the event in question. "Yes sir.", she said, her inquisitive nature immediately manifesting itself once again with a question regarding her forthcoming duties. "Sir, may I ask what my assignment on board Spectre will be?" The Captain quirked his head slightly as he pondered that question. "It would be illogical to imply one particular assignment within a given department Ensign", said the Captain. "A Science officers duties are many and varied as you know, but you may rest assured that they will be far from 'uneventful' on a ship the likes of the Spectre", he added. (Reply Danil, IYW) "I'm quite sure we will be able to keep you busy", said the Captain as he began referring to her Starfleet file and her requisite listed speciality's. It's just that a few of my friends who graduated before me were posted on very boring ships, with nothing to do but recalibrate their instruments over and over again." (reply T'Vhor) "And of course that's not all that there is in the puzzle of space-time theorems," Olivaw continued, now fully enveloped in her reply, "you have a minimum of six other dimensions that are still yet to be fully explored, ones that are in the 'shape' of 'cones and cylinders' and others in the form of 'spirals and quarks', so to speak. Danil said, "And you're right, random and illogical acts do happen sometimes. The recent bombing of the Government buildings first and foremost in his mind as he contemplated the rather unprecedented loss of life in regards it. Ushari Security, working with the Federation vessel in orbit of their world had by now isolated a single figure, moving towards what had now clearly been defined as the epicentre of the disaster itself, indeed, it was this very fact that had prompted this meeting in the first place. No arrests had yet been made of course but it was already becoming clear to the PM, that their current deal with the Ferengi was looking decidedly shaky in the extreme. The meeting had been called for 20:40 hundred hours and already the main players had gathered within the cabinet offices of what was now left of the Ushari government buildings. The PM sat flanked by his senior ministers and a few military and security advisors that had gathered the requisite intelligence regarding recent events, plus a few choice facts about a number of other factors to. It was now time to begin the meeting and so with the promptness Ung'Hst had long been associated with, he stood and announced what was to be. "My fellow ministers. As you all now surely know, at approximately 13:30 hundred hours today, an act of deliberate aggression towards our central government was carried out by unknown assailant or assailants, which resulted in the deaths of over seven hundred of our own citizens", said Ung'Hst pausing briefly now, his impassive face showing clearly the severity of his feelings over this act of gross terror. Then he continued on. "As you all know, our current arrangement regarding essential weather control equipment, purchased from Ferengi sources, is now inextricably linked to events occuring both in orbit via a small unidentified vessel encountered by the USS Spectre, and to the explosion we have just witnessed and fallen foul of", said the PM as he looked about the room at faces that were as equally impassive as his own. "It is with this in mind, and via recent intelligence reports that our current dealings with the Ferengi are now officially on hold. The Federation has expressed willingness to re-negotiate terms and it is now my intention to allow this course of action to proceed..... unless of course, any assembled here have any objections that are worthy of being heard", said Ung'Hst looking about once again to see if anyone did have any objections. The ministers fidgetted of course, it was no secret that some were clearly not happy dealing with the Federation at all and they had made that blatently clear many times beforehand, others though nodded appreciatedly, those being the members that had actually voted against the departure in the first place. (Reply Home Minister) The reply had not come as a surprise, the Home minister had long been an objector to the Federation deal when it had been in place, the severity of his objection however had seemed most unusual and it had indeed raised a question in the PM's mind also. Did the man have an ulterior motive perhaps? (Reply Home Minister) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Captain's Ready Room - Captain T'Vhor - 20:32) With the thoughts of his previous chat with the new science officer still foremost in his mind, the Captain returned to the task he had been engaged in upon her arrival, namely the 'Venom' project that had been pre-occupying his thoughts for some time now. It was nothing definate of course but the small craft that they had encountered, pursued and then lost beforehand had bore certain similarities to the Venom legends, and to a Vulcan that was more than enough reason to be going back over old resistance stories told years beforehand throughout the trenches of Bajor. In his hand the Captain held a small paper book, it's edges scorched, it's binding failing here and there but otherwise intact in it's entirety as he slowly thumbed through the notes within it with an almost practiced ease. These of course, were his own personal thoughts and records, little scribbles and recollections of things gone, descriptives of life and limb lost, and other much more personal things of course.... Krysta occupied the Vulcan hybrids thoughts a lot of course, her loss was the one thing that no amount of Vulcan discipline had ever severed from within him. It was a tangible pain, even now, so tangible in fact that the chime sounding at his door had gone all but unnoticed as the Captain allowed his eyes to close and his mind to wonder just briefly. The second chime however broke his reverie, the subtle crystalised thoughts shattering as reality flooded back in again. "Enter", said the Captain as he straightened himself up in his chair and then turned his attention towards the already opening door, it's frame outlining the familiar sight of the Chief Medical Officer himself. "Hope I am not disturbing you Captain", said Williams as he entered the room looking weary from his recent work planetside. "Andrew. No, of course you aren't", said the Captain as he bade the man sit opposite him. "Here are my reports about the medical situation on the planet and the patients on board", said Williams as he placed his PADD's upon the table before him. The Captain nodded and then reached across towards the nearest PADD and began reading through it with his usual close attention to detail. The Vulcan glanced briefly towards his CMO and nodded appreciatedly as he continued to read. It went without saying of course that William's had performed his exemplory best once again, prevailing against all odds as he inevitably always had done. This was nothing new but it had become the expected norm where the CMO was concerned. The man was indeed, a miracle worker. "I need not say this of course Andrew, but.... sometimes, you amaze me, a Vulcan at that", said the Captain as he placed the first PADD back onto the table. "It is almost an impossible task to evoke such feelings within one of my kind, but even with my Betazoid composite being more than able to react to such things..... your skill is unquestionable Doctor", said the Captain. (Reply Williams) "Nevertheless, once again your devotion to duty is undeniable", said the Captain, "....but you look tired Andrew, please, get some rest", he added, "allow yourself this one thing", said the Captain, expressing his concern now more as a friend than the mans Commanding Officer. (Reply Williams) "And your staff Doctor, please extend my appreciation to them all in regards this most difficult of times", said the Captain. (Reply Williams, IYW) The Captain watched as the Doctor turned about and then made for the door, it's mechanical hiss heralding his departure as he disappeared through it. "Sir, I must strongly object," Den'ja said, surging to his feet. "There is no reason to go groveling back to the Federation. We have power through our dilithium trade, the Federation have nothing to offer us that we aren't already getting. There is absolutely no reason to believe what these Star Fleet Officers say." Den'ja said, his voice angry. He looked around for support, but didn't get near as much as he was hoping. The explosion had taken the heart out of them, and he knew it. He sank back into his seat and glared at those around him, his former allies. (Reply None) (Posted by Patrick D.) (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - Captain T'Vhor - 20:42) The communication had come as a surprise to say the very least, but then considering the situation that had just evolved, it was only a matter of time before it happened. Upon the screen, the impassive face of the Ushari Prime Minister glared out at him, the horror of what had recently transpired still evident in his eyes to anyone, let alone an empath. "Prime Minister Ung'Hst... How can I help?", the Captain had said as he settled back into the seat. "It is not a case of how you can help me Captain, it is more a case of how I can help you", said Ung'Hst, "I have just closed a meeting in cabinet concerning our recent catastrophe and our current dealings with the Ferengi in regards their weather control equipment", he added. The Captain raised an eyebrow quizically and then leaned forwards, his hands coming together upon the table before him. "Go on", he said. "Captain T'Vhor, in regards these facts, I have now ordered that our current situation has become untenable in the extreme. Indeed, it would seem that there is cause for.... how shall I say, re-evaluation of that situation", said Ung'Hst. "Your saying that you are now willing to discuss the Federations offer to renegotiate trade?", said the Captain, his interest piqueing now of course. The PM let out a heavy sigh in response to the question, it was clear by his reaction that not everyone in his cabinet felt the same way, but then that was to be expected. The Captain however, was now feeling for the first time that perhaps Admiral Sorahan's previous order to give the Ushari whatever they wanted in order to assure trade again, wouldn't be necessary after all. "I see", said T'Vhor, "I can meet you tomorrow morning, shall we say 08:00 hours to discuss this if you wish, unfortunately I am not in a position to be able to beam down immediately", he added. Ung'Hst nodded accordingly and took a sip of a nearby drink upon his table. "I understand of course Captain", he said, "tomorrow will be fine, I have some interesting information that you may want to see also", he added. "Information?", said the Captain enquiringly. Ung'Hst nodded again and then took another sip of his drink, clearly he was nervous about something. "Yes Captain, it appears that we have uncovered some interesting facts that do indeed concur with your earlier hypothesis of a 'Mole' if you'll pardon the pun, within our own ranks", said the Prime Minister. "Interesting", said the Captain, "then I will look forwards to our meeting, until then though, I will bid you a good evening, if it is at all possible given the recent circumstances of course", he added with a courteous nod. "Indeed", said Ung'Hst as he motioned towards an aide off screen to refill his mug with whatever it had contained beforehand before closing the communication. The Captain then settled back into his chair once again. It had been a long day and he was looking forwards now to some rest. The question of the small vessel however still hung in his mind, an unanswered and particularly difficult puzzle in regards it's origins. In his time in the Bajoran resistance, there had been many a tale of an elite team that existed which defied all logic, and it couldn't be denied that this ship certainly did fit that bill. The Venom project had come to the Captain's mind on more than one occasion, it's roots apparently deep within the odious ranks of the Obsidian order itself. If this vessel was indeed linked to that then there was no telling what it had been up to. More importantly it was unlikely that an answer would ever be forthcoming. The Captain put aside his thoughts and then stood from his chair. His need now was for his quarters, the days work had been done, the shift had changed and the ship was for now anyway, effectively at ease. If ever a Federation vessel could be at ease that is. (Reply None, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Shuttlebay – Lt. Michaella Wilson-Kirien - 21:00) Michaella Wilson-Kirien exited the shuttle, one hand on each of her daughters. Their considerable amount of luggage was behind them in the shuttle. One girl tried to pull away from her mother, her eyes on one of the runabouts. Her eyes were round like saucers and her hand reached out to run reverently over the nose. The other girl, slightly taller with darker hair watched with an air of bemusement. Michaella turned slightly to the Ensign who inquired about them. She smiled, a disarming, kind smile. "Commander Kirien, and her daughters Gabriella and Elizabeth." The Ensign looked at her clipboard and her face scrunched up in confusion, "Uh Commander, yes, maybe you should speak to the First Officer, yes Ma'am I see a note here for you to do so." Both of Michaela's girls looked up at the woman's tone and it was all Michaella could do not to not snoop. Something was a tad bit fishy. They had been stationed on the Nimitz, and then the Hades. Michaella had been helping Angeni with the sickbay duties while the CMO of the Hades resumed her responsibilities after her time off. The Hades was a warship, it was too dangerous to stay with children there. Michaella wanted her daughters to grow up and become starfleet officers. And so she had gotten a transfer to Geneva to protect her children. Her daughters hadn't agreed with that, they didn't want to leave the amazing starship, and they certainly didn't want to leave their amazing Captain Sash. Ella hadn't wanted to leave her experiments in the science department. Beth liked to go out on the holodeck flying. At least Beth was lucky in the fact that she had some of her favorite training programs on a memory chip. Too soon they were outside of the large quarters for the Kirien family and Michaella was startled out of her thoughts. It was the typical spartan quarters of an Officer, but a little more spartan than she remembered. She frowned slightly as the girls raced towards their bedrooms to begin decorating them. Both had a plant in their hands, radically different plants, both gifts from Sash. Once they'd managed to get rid of the Ensign that had followed them to their quarters Michaella leaned against the bulkhead, her headache growing by the second. Something was going on, and she wasn't sure what. (reply none) (posted by melinda) (USS Spectre - Quarters – Lt. Amari Riya - 21:30) Amari settled into her new bed after a very long day. She instructed the computer to play the news to her and then grinned when she heard that another new science officer had arrived. Poking the computer, Amari found out that the woman was in her quarters. That was just enough to get Amari out of her bed. She was lonely and making a new friend in her own department was well worth the effort. Looking around her quarters for a long moment, she decided on one of her small music boxes. Normally she would have brought a plant, but she hadn't had time to force grow the seeds she had brought along with her. Amari ran a brush through her hair then straightened the off duty tunic and slacks she had changed into. She then set off on a search for the new Ensign's Quarters. Twenty minutes later and several wrong turns, the brightly blushing face of Amari rang the chime to Olivaw's quarters. Amari waited impatiently, shifting from foot to foot. She had started to go to the Science lab but had thought different as she had approached her new quarters. So instead of reporting in, she was busy positioning her various items of sentiment. She picked up a fairly large, bulky bag and unzipped it, revealing various weapons, both decorative and deadly. There was the D'k tahg Ketyung had given her on her 21st birthday, the set of three Kligat Steve gave her on her graduation, the Nisroh blades she won from a trader on Luna, the Vulcan Kertil'ley T'Lera had purchased for her on Rigel IV. All of them were special to Olivaw, and all of them were used quite religiously by the young Trill. Of course, there were the instruments in the other bag. There were not as many of them as there were weapons, but still a healthy collection. Her small, portable Trill piano that had been in her possession was placed right by her bed, and her Vulcan Lute took up the corner table in the den. Danil jumped when her door chimed, more of an annoying buzz to her. She would have to personalize that thing before anyone else came around. "Come in," she said as she stuffed the now empty bags under her bed and tried to straighten the tilted Kertil'ley on the wall. (Amari) "Oh, hi." Danil said, jerking her jacket back down to her waist. This was a suprise. "Come in sir, please. Make yourself comfortable." she said, and started tidying the sofa. "Sorry it's such a wreck, I just got in and was unpacking." she looked around nervously. "UH.." Jynea took it, too well raised to turn down a gift, but not sure she really wanted to tangle with alcohol while stationed on the Spectre. She had the feeling if the First Officer had caught her the *last* time he'd tattoo his boot to her butt, and she wasn't quite sure how he hadn't. Fortunately, the Lieutenant carried on, “This is from Chuck. I owed him a bottle and he said that he owed you one. So we decided that to skip him and give it to you. This is a 25 year single malt whisky. From a distillery near to where my parents live.” "What's the difference between whisky and scotch?" Jynea asked, looking at the bottle. (Reply Smith) Jynea realized she was holding her guest in the doorway, "Please, come in." (Reply Smith) "This is a very generous gift, Lieutenant.." She put it on the table, "Certainly better than a certain Assistant Chief of Security would give to me!" There had been a couple of odd things that she'd been picking up on. One was that her uniform rank pips had changed on her. She'd been demoted. Not that she really was a starfleet officer in the conventional sense. She was a civilian who had entered starfleet during the civil war for protective custody. And the need for qualified doctors. Michaella was positive the second outweighted the first by a large degree. She'd spent most of her life on stations and starships and strode with a confidant manner towards the bridge. She needed to talk with the Captain. She glanced around curiously and not seeing him she hit the ready room chime. It hadn't even occurred to her to ask the computer where he was. Her chin tilted up in the classic example of proud betazoid arrogance, she stopped and awaited an answer. The answer however was to come from behind rather than in front of her. The duty Officers voice had cut in and reminded her that the Captain had retired for the evening. Michaella frowned slightly and then shrugged. "Is it important? I can pass a message to him if you wish", said the watch officer. Michaella shook her head. (reply None, any) (posted by Melinda) (USS Spectre - Arboretum - Counselor, Lieutenant (jg) Sella - 23:00) Sella had always been, what her room mate at the academy had referred to as, a night owl. It wasn't so much that she liked the dark, dark wasn't a concept that she had much of a grasp of, but that she liked the quiet. There were very few nocturnal members of the Federation, which meant that the most peaceful and quiet times of the day, tended to be well into the evenings when most were getting ready for sleep. It was those times she wandered, it never really mattered where. Even on a starship that ran 24 hours a day, the Gamma shift was always quieter, knowing that they were the ones who were out of the ordinary, respectful of those that slept. Even the bridge was darkened, so she was told, for Gamma shift. Even though the same number of people were asleep during Alpha shift as were asleep during Gamma, it was always Gamma shift that was quieter, subconsciously aware that they had the added responsibility of watching over their sleeping comrades. That evening she found herself in the ships Arboretum, it wasn't nearly as large as some of the bigger ships had, but it provided the same level of comfort to the crew. It had been shown long ago, that keeping most species crammed into a large box for months at a time was bad. Most people needed "fresh air", and the sun, and natural sounds. The holodeck could simulate all those things, but the mind knew they were fake, knew that what felt like earth beneath ones feet, was simply a replicated surface on a forcefield, a trick of light and energy. But the Arboretum, that as real, substantial, and the mind knew it. It may not be outside, it may not have a real sun and moon governing the artificial day/night cycle, but the trees, and the grass, and the small animals necessary for the plants to survive, they were real. The sounds, the smells, the textures, they were things of fact. People always asked Sella what it was like to be blind, to be missing one of the five senses, but no matter how hard she tried she could never get them to understand that she didn't miss it. She wondered from time to time what it would be like to see the color blue, or read a book, but she didn't miss it, she couldn't. She had an ability to 'sense' the objects around, her, know her general surroundings, but there was no detail, it was like being in a room of silhouettes with little to no depth perception. But no, she relied on sound, and smell, and touch to experience her world. She ran her hands along the bark of the trees by the path, savoring the rough texture as she walked by. She hummed to herself, her voice soft, but carrying on the still, cool air. She made her way to a bench near the center of the arboretum, and took a seat, slowly removing her deck shoes and letting her feet touch the grass. It was a rare luxury coming from such a cold world as Andoria, but there were very few Aenarians that didn't enjoy having something other than ice underfoot, at least for a time. It was hard being away from the cities under the ice near the poles of their homeworld, being out amongst people who rarely understood them, or their culture. She let her shoulders sag, letting the tension flow away slowly, as she took a deep breath through her nose, taking a small amount of joy in the scents of dirt and leaves and flowers that hung on the air. She may have a better understanding of the sentient mind, but that didn't mean she was any less a victim to it's urges and weaknesses. (Reply Any) (Posted by Patrick D.) All the Sayl'reth seemed to do was fight with themselves when they couldn't find outsiders to fight with. '..the Ferengi ships Good Profit, Latinum for Sale and Hardy Har Har have been turned back at the border by the USS Caledonia. Captain Jin Nakasawa last having been heard to threaten to 'blow them to kingdom come' if they did not stop trying to sell proscribed weapons to the primitive society.." Sayl'reth didn't have replicators, ships that could go above warp 3 or even transporters. They were space faring, but they seem to have plateaued at the point of being able to get to their neighbours to conquer them. Jynea turned off the feed with a wave of one hand and peered back down at the bottle of Scotch sent to her by one Charles Donaldson. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the gift. Was he insinuating he wished her to ensnare him with pheromones and have her way with him? But that didn't seem like the kind of relationship they had at all. They were friends, collegues, pals.. and besides, he was married and still very much in love with his lost wife. Brow wrinkled, Jynea wrote the opposite sex off as too difficult to figure out. Time to get some sleep if she wanted to be awake at 0400 for her end-of-Gamma-shift troll through the ship to evaluate crew morale. The thing really bothering him came to the surface as he exited the holodeck. He couldn't get her out of his mind so he wandered the halls of the ship in deep thought. ~What is our relationship? What's going on with her?~ these were his thoughts. He finally made it to her door. He hadn't spoken to her in awhile but he got the impression it wouldn't be a comfortable conversation. "hmmph." she protested as she stood up and made her way to the door. The door chime again. T'Pia opened the door and her face twisted in deep puzzlement. In front of her stood an unbelieveable figure. ~It can not be ... it isn't logical.~ she thought. "Hello." said Suri Rapeet. T'Pia collapsed. The woman, Ardena Carrow, whose mind had reached out and touched her so unexpectedly ... she had known and love Suri. Suri's death had nit helped matters and now T'Pia was experiencing an obvious hallucination. With seizured jerks of her body lying on the floor she managed to tap her badge. "T'Pia to ... "There's no one," yawn, "there." *THUMP!* Mark insisted again. "They'd ring the chime!" *THUMP!* With a sigh, Jynea picked up the rabbit, wishing she'd chosen a less material challenged night dress since blunt rabbit claws weren't pleasant on skin. "Look," she said, pushing the door open, "No one there." She stepped out into the hallway and looked left, and looked right. "No one you silly rab-" she stopped as she spotted a tall figure in security yellow getting into the turbolift at the end of the hall. She could have sworn Mark gave her an "I told you so!" look. For half a heart beat she considered calling out to see if blurry eyes weren't lying to her about who had been at her door, but sleep deprived brain decided it wasn't worth the effort and confusion. She turned back to her door. If it was, and it was important, he'd be back. If it was, and it wasn't, he'd be back later. If it wasn't and she was having hallucinations.. The nightmare had been particularly bad tonight and had focused mainly on the episode on Bajor many moons beforehand that had led to his present predicament, namely the question as to how to deal with the three Cardassians intent on torturing the young Bajoran woman, without actually losing her life in the process. This problem of course, had been solved in the holodeck already, the Captain had addressed this after many attempts and had emerged victorious, albeit bleeding profusely from a flesh wound in the process. He had informed the CMO that he had fallen on a blade but he knew inside that the Doctor had not been convinced. Indeed, had he known that the holodeck safety's had actually been disengaged, he would have probably thrown a fit. Sitting up on his bunk however, the Captain was confused. Why after the puzzle had been solved had the nightmare resurfaced with such vehemence? T'Vhor took a deep breath and then cleared his lungs before standing and then moving towards the replicator. "Water, chilled to five degrees", he ordered. The replicator performed it's usual molecular magic and the Captain withdrew the newly arrived glass from the recepticle. Then he moved towards the viewing ports and gazed out into the vacuous void of space whilst sipping slowly from the glass. Michaella Kirien tossed and turned all night. Things weren't sitting well with her. She waited for the chime to say 0500, then rolled out of bed, and dressed. She listened outside the twins room, then collected a small basket of muffins to head to the Captain's Quarters. She knew that he was up, and so she rang the chime, demanding his attention. The resultant chime had surprised the Captain, that much was for certain and he shook his head in concern, his brow furrowing slightly to the raised question now forming in his mind. ~Who would be calling at this hour~ He thought. It was then that he noticed that he was hardly in a state of dress to expect visitors, whoever they might be. He threw an opened fronted tunic lightly around his shoulders and then responded. "Enter" In walked a beautiful woman. Classically lovely in every sense of the term. She was betazoid, that much was obvious. Her hair which reached to her waist was curly and dark as most Betazoids were. However, her skin was much too pale and her eyes were the startling blue of ice. She was tall, all leg and long arms, Dressed in medical blue, carrying the basket of muffins, she stepped into the room. Her eyes adjusted and sought out the Captains. "Good morning. I hope I'm not disturbing you." Her accent was odd, betazoid mixed with something indescribable. The tone of her emotions, which she didn't take care to guard, was one of frustration and annoyance mixed with worry. The moment the woman had entered his quarters though was the moment that the Captain's empathic alerts went from idle to alert, signalling a distinct change in the way he chose to react. Indeed, at first he was going to ask why on earth the Lieutenant had chosen to call at such an unusual hour, her empathic radiance however had caused him to reconsider. The woman was obviously in some state of distress and the basket of muffins did seem odd to say the very least. The Captain took a deep breath, then he gestured with his hand to signal her to come in. "What can I do for you Lieutenant?", he enquired whilst closing the tunic he wore at the front for decency sake. Michaella visibly winced at the title he gave her, then took a few steps into the room, she sat the basket of still warm muffins down on the table and took a seat. She smoothed the pants of her uniform with nervous fingers. "My pardon for disturbing you. I thought you were awake however, otherwise I wouldn't have intruded. My name is Michaella Kirien. I am, was a civilian doctor recruited to the fleet for protection after my part in assisting Intelligence. I was placed on the Nimitz and then the Hades with my children because it was thought that .. those..we ... angered." She chose her words carefully. "Would not find us there. I'm unsure why I was transfered however, or why my rank was changed. I don't care so much for the rank as the.. amenities... that go with it. I have twin teenaged daughters you see." She cursed herself for feeling so uncomfortable with this male who was nothing like Sash. " I just want to know why. And what I'm doing here. No one told me why." Her fear that her past was catching up with her choked the words that she was going to speak. ~Kirien? ah yes, Kirien~ thought T'Vhor. Her transfer had indeed been an unusual one for sure, the word from fleet command had been that the request to transfer had been personal, the Lieutenants current state of anguish over this however seemed to indicate otherwise. She had mentioned a past that might be catching up with her, if that WAS the case then why had he not been informed of anything that might jeapordise the safety of his ship and crew? Also, how could he answer her specific questions if he was not aware of the specifics either? Time would tell no doubt, as it invariably did once the suitable dictates had been followed. For now though, the Captain allowed his eyes to wander briefly towards the basket of fresh smelling pastries. "Are you planning on a picnic Lieutenant Kirien?", he asked. Michaella laughed a teeny bit, relaxing some, "Betazoids love food and I figured I had best bring a peace offering before interrupting you so early." "Then as neither you, nor I seem to be able to sleep, may I suggest that we take a walk to the Arboretum", said the Captain, "we can discuss your 'Concerns' whilst we partake in your....aromatic collection of delicacies", he added. Michaella nodded and offered her hand to him so that he could help her rise from the chair, "I would love to see the Arboreteum. It was one of my favorite places on the Nimitz. Did you know that Sash grows plants?" She then realizes that the Captain isn't quite dressed to go out. "Would you like me to step out while you ?" She grinned a teeny bit. The Captain nodded. "I will be one moment", he said as he headed towards a small room set off to the right and then continued to talk out of sight as he dressed in some suitable 'off-duty' casuals. "Captain Sash grows plants?", exclaimed the Captain as her previous announcement registered. Michaella nodded, "Yes, he was a farmer before. He enjoys plants." "Fascinating, he has always struck me as a hard nosed military man, hardly the type I would have expected to take up horticulture" She laughed a little, "He's actually a very gentle man. My twins saw him as the Father figure they never had." The Captain then reappeared in the room and gestured with his hand for the Lieutenant to head out first, whilst he picked up the basket of muffins from the table. NRPG: More to follow..... The young Trill stumbled over to the replicator and ordered her usual cup of stout, black coffee, Arabian blend. She donned her swimsuit, grabbed the coffee and a towel from her dresser, and headed over to the gym for the morning. She had a physical at 0815, and needed to work out the anxiety from that – she never had liked physicals. She liked the doctors, just not the work involved. Afterwards, she would report to her duty station and get to work. Now that she was looking forward to! As she entered the gym, she chucked the coffee cup into the disposal bin and headed to the pool. Unlike many others at the academy, her favorite past time was in the water, and she held the record for her section of the dorm. T'Lera had put up a fight last year, but hadn't stood a chance against the lithe Trill. She dove into the water, splashing her way to the other side. She needed to get wet and used to the water temperature before she tried the springboard, especially this early in the morning. She swam back and forth a couple of times, changing her stroke every turn. Butterfly, Breast stroke, backstroke, broad stroke all blended together for her warm up exercise before she would climb up onto the board. (Reply anyone?!) "So I didn't offend you by asking?" she said, standing up and looking towards the diving boards. "Not at all, it happens. I'm able to navigate well enough, that it catches some people by surprise when they find out I can't actually see." Sella said "I don't suppose you do diving, do you?" she asked. "I used to compete with other divers in my Dorm sector, and I try to keep from getting rusty." "I can't say that I do. My doctor recommended against any activity that required me to leap high into the air, spin around a bunch, and attempt to get perfectly vertical before re-entering the water," Sella said with a grin. "Seriously, however, I can navigate well enough while on dry ground and not in a crowd, but that much movement take too much coordination for my to be able to pull off. My hobby of choice is go. I tried to learn to play that Vulcan logic game that they love, but refuse to admit, but it required too much visual input." "Oh, sounds interesting." Danil replied. "I tried those. I tend to be a more physical person myself. Tal Shaya, the Bath'leth, those sort of things are the things I do. A very hands on sort of person, is I." It had duly arrived with the familiar shimmer of a Federation transport end sequence as the Spectre's Captain, together with a handful of his officers materialised just a few metres before him. Imediately, the PM moved forwards and then extended his hand towards the Vulcan hybrid in a gesture of honest and heartfelt welcome. "Captain, so good of you to arrive so promptly", said Ung'Hst, "I trust that things are well with the Federation", he added, "and with your ship in orbit of Ushar Prime of course" "Things are.... as expected", said the Captain, pausing mid sentence as he spoke. "I am hoping that things on Ushar Prime though are settling somewhat after the disaster of yesterday", he enquired. "Somewhat", said the Primeminister with a sigh, then he indicated towards his office and the primary matter for them being here right now. "You look a little tired Captain", said Ung'Hst, noting that the Captain did not appear to be at his most enervated of states. "I did not sleep well Primeminister, a particularly difficult night, but one that proved..... filling", said the Captain, noting that his stomach had now begun rumbling slightly at the muffins he had eaten only a few hours beforehand. Ung'Hst took his place in his usual elaborately carved chair, then he intonated that the Captain should take the slightly less ornate seat opposite him before he himself tucked into a glass of what could only be described as 'mud'. Then he began. "Captain, I will make no bones about this matter, nor will I hold off on my intentions regarding our current situation", he began. "I wish to sever our dealings with the Ferengi and re-establish trade with the Federation as of right now", he added before pausing to take another sip of the mud like beverage. The Captain nodded his assent and then turned briefly just as a glass of fruit juice was placed upon the table in front him by one of the PM's apparently eager to please assistants. "Thank you", said the Captain, impressed by the Ushari leaders memory in regards his favourite drink. He took a sip and then placed it back onto the table before addressing the Ushari Primeminister once again. "The Federation is willing to negotiate any terms that you may consider meet your current requirements", said the Captain, "all weather control equipment currently installed will be maintained as per your previous requests", he added. "Most grateful Captain, inform the Federation that my requests will be equitable to both parties, trade will recommence imediately and you can expect your first shipments of ore within the normal cycle period", said Ung'Hst as a plate containing sustenence of some kind was placed before him by the previously arrived assistant. The PM then indulged with gusto whilst the assistant appeared beside the Captain with an identical bowl of foodstuff and an offer to partake thereof. "Thank you, but no. I have already eaten", said the Captain, his thoughts going back now to the muffins from the previous night once again. "Tell me Primeminister. The vessel reported imediately over the government buildings before the explosion?... Have you encountered this vessel before?", asked T'Vhor. Ung'Hst simply shook his head in the negative, his sleek fur glistening slightly as his flesh moved beneath it. "No, never before", he answered as he continued eagerly to tuck into his meal with relish. It seemed that the one thing that the Ushari loved more than anything else was to eat. Perhaps their dealings with the Federation should have involved food from the very begining, rather than just the weather control equipment, a second benefactor might not have even entered the playing field then!! "The Spectre tracked the vessel leaving orbit and was able to glean only scant information regarding it's construction before it disappeared from our sensors for good", said the Captain, his head quirking slightly to one side and his eyebrow rising in typical Vulcan quizicality. "Either way, it was clearly not Ferengi. Nor Cardassian in the typical sense", he added as he pondered the available data available to them. "Then who?", enquired the Primeminister, finally placing his eating utensils back into a now empty bowl. "I am thinking that it may have been linked to the Obsidian order", said the Captain, "but I cannot be sure at this stage" Ung'Hst looked puzzled at that, then he took up his mug of mud with an audible grunt and endulged it with an audible gulp before placing it once again upon the table. "Out of our fur for now I would imagine", he said with a smile, the first that the Captain had seen in a while in fact. "With the Ferengi out of the way, the Cardassians will follow and hopefully.... whoever else has been involved in all of this", said Ung'Hst. "Hopefully so", said the Captain with a nod. "I will make the necessary arrangements for trade the moment I beam aboard the Spectre, you may expect the Federation supply ships and engineers to arrive within the week", he added. "I will look forwards to it Captain", said Ung'Hst as a second bowl of sustenence duly arrived before him, a convenient cue for the Captain to return to the ship no less. "Then I will bid you a good day Primeminister", said T'Vhor with a courteous nod, "my ship will remain in orbit for the day if you need any assistance of course and my engineers will re-check all equipment before our final departure", he added before standing respectfully, and then turning about. Ung'Hst had simply nodded before turning his attention to his second breakfast helpings with as much gusto as he had the first. Now, she was stationed squarely on the bridge, and had to deal with all departments. Even with her staff of assistants, she found herself running ragged. To make matters worse, the slender Bolian woman was having difficulty sleeping. She looked up at the main view screen and stared slowly at it for several long beats when suddenly a single audible chirp alerted her eyes to the display. I heard that “Don’t hate and player hate the game. Any way did you hear that Riya and Dani seem to have hit it off. They did not take long. Ow and guess what ? this is really good.” Douwys’s eye brow rose. “What?” “It looks like the captain has a new girlfriend.” There was a slight pause as Douwsy thought this through. “Come on don’t be silly. It’s the Captain.” “Well The new doc Kirien went to our own Captain's quarters with a bunch of muffins.” “It could have been a gesture of friendship.” “At 0500 ish in the morning but that’s not the best bit. They also say that she’s here to replace Dr Williams.” “Douwsy paused. “Don’t be silly. “Well they say that the planet trip really threw him and he has been going to the shrink. Also that stuff with his sister and being called a traitor made him mentally unhinged.” She gave Douwsy a long stare. “Well when was the last time you’ve seen him sleep longer then a few hours. Something is definately strange with him.” Douwsy rolled her eyes and sighed again. “Look your going to be mentally unhinged if you believe every thing you hear. Now let me go and get some sleep I’m back later as it is.” With that Douwsy got up and quickly headed for her quarters. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Main Bridge - CONN - Pilot Officer Smith - 10:09) Jennifer looked at her console and checked the ships position for the umpteenth time. ~And look we have not moved from our allotted orbital position~ She had ran through the power up and power down sequences for most of the ships reaction control thrusters. This had been fun to start with as a distraction but it had now become boring. She glanced at Chenoll who had talking to one of the science personal but that was as much as she could ease drop on their conversation. ~Don't bother her she's got work to do~ She thought about the other day and flying the Thunder Hammer. She realised that she did really enjoy flying small craft not to say that the Spectre was not fun far from it. She looked at the planet in the main view screen and wished that they would brake orbit just to get out of the monotonous routine of being in a synchronised orbit. May be she would ask George for a dog fight later. It would be nice to get back in a fighter even if it was on the holodeck. Her console flashed at her. ~Ow look a positional burn quick we don't want to fall out of orbit do we~ She tapped at her console and waited for the thruster sequence that kept the Spectre in orbit to fire. A frown began to form as the Spectre did not realign to proper course. ~What's happening here~ She entered the sequence again but nothing happened. ~Ow grate~ She looked over at Chenoll "Lt Chenoll. I have lost power to RCT thruster cluster gamma five on the port side. I need power to activate cluster gamma four and six to compensate."
