"Which technology are you referring to?" "The multi phase cloak and phase cannons." Jessica took a deep breath before continuing. "I thought do the Treaty of Algeron that it was illegal for the Federation to even develop cloaking technology. However, It was the secret agency S31 that not only developed this technology but also refined it. I understand that some parts of the treaty of Algeron have been repealed and exemptions made. If I recall those were for ships were assigned to the gamma quadrant though and they did not have access to this level of cloaking ability." (Reply T'vhor) "Sir, I am sorry if I overstep my bounds but I know how far S31 as pushed phase technology and by comparison what we have on this ship is by the best measure... old. But due to my past and what I have had to handle. I have no dought on its origin. (Reply T'vhor) (Posted by Matthew Locke) (USS Spectre - CO's Office - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 09:54) Signos was still a little concerned about the Spectre's phased cloak. Why the ship had it. The semantics of it all. This had surprised the Captain somewhat, for the ship had had the cloak for many years now, and although it had not been common knowledge at the start of her missions, given the nature of some of them, it was an accepted fact that the Treaty of Algeron had been ratified for a long time now. "Sir, I am sorry if I overstep my bounds but I know how far S31 has pushed phase technology, and by comparison what we have on this ship is by the best measure... old." said Signos, to which the Captain nodded. "By todays standards, you are correct in that we are due an upgrade", said T'Vhor. "However, ours is not to argue when that might be. Perhaps you might address this directly with Starfleet head of research" (Reply Signos, IYW) Many of the ships systems were already receiving modifications whilst at the Starbase, and although the Captain had received no mention that their cloak might receive attention, it was always possible. "Tell me, Commander. Have you looked over our refit itinery at all?" asked the Captain. (Reply Signos) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – Zero-G Speshalist, Ensign (J.G.) Hythame - 10:19) "I guess that would be a prerequisite for a chief of the department" she said, "After all, leaving a patient in need just to chat to a few newly arrived Ensigns versus that? No contest" Hythame smiled. “At least we know he has good priorities.” "Tell me" “I hope you don't mind my asking but, how does your environment suit work exactly? I mean, can you ever take it off outside of being in the water?" Hythame grinned. This was one of those question that he had been commonly asked by people who did not know him. “The suit has a nitration device that sucks in oxygen from the out side world and adds into the water in my suit and then removed the carbon dioxide. It is possible for me to seal the suit for a little time if need be.” He paused for a moment as he pointed to his helment. “I can’t take it off out of water or I will make a big puddle on the floor and start to suffocate. Which would not be good.” He was about to say more when Andrew returned. “Sorry about that." he said upon returning "So let me start again. I am Andrew Williams the Chief Medical Officer on the Spectre. Working with me in Sickbay including you both, is Dr Rivers, who is the Assistant CMO, and Chief Nurse Douwsy, who is in charge of Nurses and technicians in sickbay. We also carry an EMH on board who is quite pleasant most of the time.” “We also have Counsellor Caras and her assistant, Counsellor Bruce, for any psychological support. That goes for you and your patients. As you may already know, you career choice come with a lot of hardship and stress. It is not a sign of weakness or failure to seek help. A lot of this can be a bit overwhelming.” “We also have Dr Kirien-Mias who is our medical researchers who also helps out in a crisis.” continued Williams, before then querying the Ensigns time at the Academy and whether or not they had experienced any ship time. R'uann gave Hythame the chance to jump in at that time, but when he didn't, she went first... He was about to speak but R’uann spoke first. "Well, I did a short placement on the Wolf" "just a few weeks of course. Nothing too strenuous" Hythame spoke up. “I did a trimester on the Serenity but that was more practical zero-g training rather than ship board medicine.” (Reply Williams, R’uann) (Reply Williams, R’uann, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – Medical Trauma Technician, Ensign JG R'uann - 10:21) The Bajoran medic had been very interested in the intricacies of Hythame's environment suit and the Selkie had gone some way towards explaining just how it worked, how it processed the air and made it beneficial to his anatomy and such. It was a curious contraption indeed. Nevertheless, she still felt that she would have to research this a little deeper in her spare time perhaps, certain questions still remaining that had yet to be answered, such as, 'How did he eat in it?', for example.' The return of Williams however cut any further queries abruptly... “I did a trimester on the Serenity but that was more practical zero-g training rather than ship board medicine.” said Hythame in response to the Doctors query on their ship placements... The Serenity? That was an water going vessel, wasn't it? ~Figures~ thought R'uann. Watching the CMO though, the young Ensign couldn't help but sense a certain awkwardness in him right now. It wasn't anything that he was particularly giving off of course. He just seemed... tense. R'uann ignored it anyway, choosing to say nothing. After all, it wasn't the done thing to be asking the Chief Medical Officer how he was feeling, and medical departments on Starships did tend to be one of the more stressful locations, given that any single member of the crew might have cause to find themselves there at a moments notice. Indeed, it was almost as bad as Ten Forward these days. Hythame continued to explain the Serenity posting for a little while longer, focussing one the specifics of his species and its suitability in such environment. And then he fell silent once again. "Sir" said R'uann, metaphorically raising her hand to speak. "What version of the EMH are we using on Spectre?" she asked. "I mean, is it that damned rude one that won't take no for an answer, even when the answer IS no?" (Reply Williams) (Reply Williams, Hythame IYW, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:26) "Sir" Andrew looked over to R’uann. "What version of the EMH are we using on Spectre?" "I mean, is it that damned rude one that won't take no for an answer, even when the answer IS no?" Andrew smiled. “We have a Mark III EMH on the Spectre. The EMH has mellowed a little over the time I have been on board, but we are going through ship upgrades at the moment so I am intrigued to see if they give it a better personality.” “Have you had experience with EMH’s before?” (Reply R’uann) (Reply R’uann, Hythame IYW, Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – Medical Trauma Technician, Ensign JG R'uann - 10:27) “Have you had experience with EMH’s before?” asked Williams in response to R'uann's concerns about them. Experience? Now there was a question if ever there was, and it prompted the Bajoran Ensign to ponder just briefly, wondering then if she should go on to relate the story of how an EMH had once used a Pomegranate to visually display its prowess for dissecting the brains of organic and sentient species. Oh it wasn't that the EMH wasn't qualified to do the job of course, but... a Pomegranate? R'uann raised an eyebrow and then furrowed her brow as she played it back in her head. Her lips parted... but then she suddenly thought better of it. "Nothing out of the ordinary, Sir" she answered flatly. "I just find that they lack a certain bedside manner, and quite often, tact and diplomacy" (Reply Williams, Hythame IYW) R'uann nodded, taking note of that was being said, prior to suggesting a little experiment. "If you will allow me, Sir. May I call forth the Genie from the bottle?", she asked, wondering then if the metaphor might cause offence to anyone. (Reply Williams) NRPG: Assuming a yes here... RPG: "Activate the Emergency Medical Hologram" said R'uann. And like magic, the EMH suddenly appeared in the room as indeed it would, before uttering its usual, inane drivel. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency" R'uann interjected immediately, raising a hand and stating that they were merely testing the program, and that there was no current medical emergency to attend to. "A test?" said the EMH... "Yes, we are addressing a point which can only be made by invoking the EMH program" said R'uann, "it won't take long. Don't worry" Which was precisely the point at which the EMH became rude. "I must object to this" it began. "This is a waste of a valuable resource. May I suggest the holodeck and one of the lower holographic resources if you wish to prove points to one another" R'uann looked to both the Doctor and Hythame with a knowing smile, and then shrugged her shoulders. (Reply Williams, Hythame, IYW) NRPG: Room for more here... RPG: "So, what can you tell us about Pomegranates?", asked R'uann. "Pomegranates?" said the EMH, looking somewhat confused now. "Outside of the fact that they are the fruit of a tree of the family Lythraceae, I'm not sure of what relevance it might have in a medical context" The EMH paused then, apparently accessing further information via its database program before continuing on. "However... It is an excellent teaching aid for the dissection of subdural anomolies within the brain matter of most hominid species", said the EMH. "Would you like me to demonstrate?" R'uann rolled her eyes and then sighed... (Reply Williams, Hythame, IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Deck 16, MCO's Office - Chief Counselor, Counselor Elani Caras - 14:39) "Sure" he said, "I mean, I was supposed to be writing reports but, well... I guess that can wait" Elani had waited patiently while Kowalski worked through the process that she really was asking him out. "Reports can wait. We're going to be stuck here for six weeks, and we have mandatory R&R as senior staff, right?" She doesn't wait for a reply, taking his arm. In human tradition she would have offered hers to him, but she was a Betazoid, and Betazoid women tended to take what they were after. (reply if you like) Elani let him set the pace out of the Marine area, and up to where the umbilical connected the ship to the starbase, It was a mostly quiet trip with a few pleasantries exchanged as the two walked along, Elani nodding to those she recognized leaving or returning to the ship. There was a guard at the umbilical, carrying a rather large weapon. "Is that one of ours? I don't quite recognize the face." She spoke quietly. She didn't know many of the marines, they tended to avoid her at all costs unless forced to visit her. (reply?) Elani stopped on the promenade and surveyed the options. She turned to Kowalski, "Where would you like to eat? I'd prefer a place we can sit and actually talk!" She laughed, not at all nervous any longer. (reply Kowalski, any) (posted by Mel) (USS Spectre - Deck 16, MCO's Office - MCO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 14:40) Well, this was a first for Kowalski, the sure-footedness of the Betazoid Counsellor taking him somewhat off-guard. 'Reports can Wait', she had said, before reminding him then of the fact that R&R was mandatory, and then taking him by the arm and leading him out of his office and into the corridor beyond. Was this a Doctors orders situation so to speak? If it was, then the MXO wasn't going to complain... Kowalski broke into a smile at the very thought, clearly enjoying the way that the, let's not deny it now, quite beautiful Betazoid Counsellor had taken control and was leading with a certain aire of urgency. This wasn't something that the MXO was used to of course, and although he was normally a 'Grab em by the shoulders and lead the way' type of guy, he couldn't deny that her approach held a certain charm. And so he went with it. A little further on though, the face of a grinning O'Hara standing guard at the docking umbilical, caused the MCO to furrow his brow as the two of them approached him. ~Don't even go there Soldier~ thought the MCO, giving him a steely, no nonsense look. "Afternoon, Sir", said O'Hara. "Maam" (Reply Caras, IYW) Kowalski nodded to his subordinate, knowing that it was breaking protocol right now not to ask for a situational update, but deferring anyway. Indeed, if there were any real cause for concern, then O'Hara would have raised them anyway, and Bruce didn't want to be unnerving the Counsellor right now. As it was though, the Marine just lowered his III-C assault rifle, smiled a knowing smile, and then bade them both pass. Kowalski had a feeling though that he might be needing a word with the man later, if only to clip his tongue somewhat, given the way that rumours often spread like wildfire around the Marine billets. "Is that one of ours? I don't quite recognize the face." asked Caras, as they entered the station. "Yes", said the MXO, "O'Hara's one of my men. Although I must confess, I'm surprised that you've never met him in a professional capacity" he added, intonating that the Man himself might have a few psychological issues that might have required her professional opinion. But then, perhaps the Counsellor was just maintaining a confidence and keeping quiet if she already had done. (Reply Caras, IYW) Arriving at the promenade, Caras was the first to speak, asking the MXO if he had a preference on where to sit, but then adding that she would prefer a place that they might actually be able to talk. Once again it was almost as though she were trying to exercise a certain tact and diplomacy, but then turning it all around by essentially making the choice for him. Kowalski raised an eyebrow and then glanced around, noting as he did so the small gatherings of people scattered here and there throughout the area and surveying the available options, before finally settling upon a cosy looking corner with subdued lighting in an area that didn't seem too busy. "How about over there. In that corner?" he offered, gesturing with his hand. "It looks pretty quiet" (Reply Caras) The MCO accompanied her, her arm still linked into his own prior to him then taking her hand as she finally moved in to take a seat. "Would you like a drink before we eat?" he asked. (Reply Caras) (reply Caras) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - CEO's Office - CEO/3O, Lt. Cmdr Duke Williams - 18:22) "Professional development, sir?" she questions. "As in 'career advancement' ?" "Not necessarily. I want my officers to have as many experiences as possible. Whether it be continuing education, participation in conferences, publishing papers. I encourage growth. Now then," Duke said with a smile, "I understand that you are older than the average ensign, but don't expect to be treated any different. We won't baby you, we won't expect less of you, nor will we treat you less, or treat you greater than any other ensign. All of us have different reasons or experiences coming through the academy. You are older than the average ensign, yes. But you are a starfleet officer, and that is how you will be treated." "Thank you, sir," she replied. "And I wouldn't have it any other way." "I hope that wasn't too harsh. Now then do you have any questions?" "Will I be reporting directly to you at all times," she asked. "Or will there be a Junior Officer in Engineering that will be my immediate supervisor?" "You will be reporting directly to me, but from time to time there may be others you will report to based on task or mission objective." "Do you happen to have the names of any other new Engineering Cadets?" "Ensign William Tucker is our only new Engineering officer. " "Thank you, sir." "Alright Ensign, your shift begins tomorrow at 0900 hours sharp. You are dismissed." (reply none) (posted by WB) (USS Spectre - Ensign's Common Quarters’ Common Room - ACEO, Ensign JG Katrina LaBrea - 22:05) Around 20:00, Ensign LaBrea considered her options. She would feel most comfortable simply wearing her Starfleet uniform, but Ensign Wilson-Kirien had implied that this evening's event would be an informal gathering. She knew very little about Elizabeth except that she was Betazoid. "Well, let's go with that," she said aloud to herself. Wracking her memory for anything she could remember of Betazed fashion, she replicated a long flowy dress with big sleeves in silver velvet. Trying in on was more difficult than she'd thought and even though it looked pretty, it definitely wasn't her style. "Computer," she instructed, and it replied with a *chirp*. "Show me current female fashion pieces on Betazed." A holographic representation of a popular Betazoid singer materializes, dressed in a tight two piece outfit covered by a very sheer cape. "Let's try again," she mumbles. "Computer, show me something more traditional," wherein the image changed to an elaborate aqua blue velvet gown with asymmetric horizontal slits below the left breast and right hip. This, too, was covered with a matching sheer cape. -sigh- "Computer, is there anything more modest?" she asked, to which the computer replied =/\= Traditional female Betazoid attire is noted for its form fitting design and strategic revelation of skin. Would you prefer to see fashion from another culture? =/\= "No," she replied. "Nevermi- wait, yes. Earth. Modern. Informal. The computer generated hologram transitioned into series of three women; the first in a simple yellow dress with a thin black belt, the next in a black two piece with matching jacket, and the last in a long dark blue skirt and white buttoned blouse. "Change the skirt to red," she requested. Shaking her head, she said, "Now brown." "Black." "Green?" -Ugh- "Why is this so difficult?" =/\= Please rephrase the question. =/\= -sigh- ... Two hours later, she entered the Ensign common quarters wearing the yellow dress. She saw that others had already arrived, which makes her feel a little more comfortable. Spying a glass of what looked like warm Bahgol, she helped herself and sipped deeply. The familiar taste bright back some memories, but before she could embrace them she saw Ensign Wilson-Kirien make eye contact so she moved in for conversation. "Thank you for putting all this together," she said with a warm smile. "I'm Katrina. Katrina LaBrea. Engineering," she said, reintroducing herself in case Elizabeth had forgotten. (Reply Ensign Elizabeth Wilson-Kirien) "Perhaps you could introduce me to the others?" She wondered why he needed to see her, and hoped she wasn't in trouble already. ~We haven't even left Stardock yet~ she fretted. She took the 'lift down to the next level, then realizing her mistake went back up two. ~I'll get this layout eventually~ she mused. Stepping out on level two, she passed a Bajoran Engineer she'd met the day before and exchanged smiles and "Afternoon"s, then found the FO's office. -teedleoop- the door chimed, then -swooshed- open. Crew reviews, re-fit details on and on and on. His thoughts were interrupted by his entry chime going off. Tom took a moment to collect his thoughts. He spoke "Enter". A new officer, an Ensign, entered. Tom smiled as the young officer took a brace that would make Academy instructors proud. Tom tried to place the Ensign at ease. "At ease Ensign. How are you?.=^= Lhiannon blinked as the man's voice cut in. She'd heard that Cmdr. Verin had been replaced. Obviously he hadn't quite gotten her name right. "This is Lt. Kindell, ah, Sir." She said, tapping her comm badge. She made sure to emphasize how to properly say her symbiont's name. "=^=The reason for my call is to schedule a time when you or the MCO can show me around without disrupting things. =^= "I see." She replied. "Well, I can't speak for Kowalski, but anytime in the next few days would work. Tomorrow at 1900 would work for me." =^=Sounds good Lieutenant - let's plan on that then. Jackson out. =^= Lhiannon wrinkled her nose, and nods towards her marines, "Looks like we are gonna have to clean up our acts, boys and girls. Make this place sparkle. That's an order." Kowalski was gonna be so thrilled. His kids had been misbehaving and it looked like the first officer was gonna come visit. She blew out a low breath of annoyance. She had been taking up leadership tasks since she had been transferred from the MXF and she had been told that she was likely going to end up as the XO. At least she was diplomatic. And some said beautiful with that sunshine hair of hers. She closed those eyes and sighed again, her symbiont amused with the whole situation. Those 6 weeks had gone largely without incident, although there had been reports of a security breach during one of the refit cycles, which had led to an unofficial probing of the Spectre's main ODN network. It had rattled many cages aboard, most notably the Security Chiefs, who had ordered a section by section disassembly of the access logs in an attempt to find out just who had been responsible. So far though, it appeared that the culprit had covered their tracks exceptionally well... Pausing briefly at the doors, the Captain took a moment to glance at his ship through one of the access windows, noting as he did so that two of the panels were still in the process of being returned into place via two Work Bee's and a few engineers using EVA equipment. The Vulcan hybrid nodded his approval, and then slipped through the door and onto the ship... (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 11:15) Sitting in the command chair, the CO pulled up the requisites on his armrest console, which he noted was a new refit showing two more panels and a host of new functions. This met with his approval. His mind though was now on their assigned mission to investigate and give aid to a mining outpost on the edge of Gallina IV, an outpost that had suspiciously failed to provide its allotted check-ins for over Three weeks now. By all accounts, this should be a routine mission with no problems, but given the Spectres recent penchant for finding more bad luck than perhaps it was due, the Captain knew not to take anything for granted. After all, Madon was still out there and up to no good. There were STILL things that were being kept from the chain of command in regards her, and from his recent discussions with Admirals Brooks and Alexander, she was still very much on some peoples minds, despite the relative silence. And likely still as dangerous... (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 11:58) "All hands, this is the Captain. May I have your final reports on departmental operational readiness please", said the Captain, and all at once the reports began arriving. (Reply ALL) T'Vhor settled back into his old seat. It felt good to be in it again after the time that they had remained at Starbase 19, and although the material felt a little strange at first, the reactive organic gel fillers soon moulded into their familiar shapes to comfortably embrace the CO, just as before. Oh, the various entertainment lounges and holo-suites of the station had made up for some things of course, but in the end, there really was no other alternative to being in that chair with a good crew behind you, and the best that Starfleet had to offer in technological expertise, directly at your fingertips. And so with the reports all in and SB 19 control reporting green across the board, it was finally ready to take the old girl out and into the black again. "Detach the umbilical supports. Close all external conduit hatches. Helm, manoeuvring thrusters at station keeping. One Eighth impulse on my mark. (Reply Helm) The Captain then gave the order to depart. "Mark" The Spectre then began transiting towards the already opening spacedoors, the warning beacons already flashing to the accompaniment of the ever widening jet black aperture beyond. And then all of a sudden, they were out there. One final transmission coming in from Starbase control, duly verbalised from behind by the Tactical Officer. "God speed Spectre. Happy hunting..." (Reply Helm, Any, ALL) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO, Commander Tom Jackson - 11:59) Tom had made sure the Spectre was sad ready for departure. T'Vhor had rested himself in the center seat. Jackson Took his seat next to him. Tom monitored the incoming reports. The ship was in fine shape after the refit. Yet somehow Tom felt a sense of foreboding. He tried to shake it off as pre-mission nerves. Jackson looked around the bridge, with the exception of Cmdr Signos and Lt. Rosen, the crew were strangers. How would I'm they to react to Tom's orders? (No reply) (Posted by Bill West) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 12:05) Having cleared the outer marker, the Captain wasted no time at all in ordering a new course. "Navigation, plot a course to Galina IV. Helm, warp 7 on my mark" (Reply, Nav, Helm) T'Vhor then settled back and accessed his armrest controls, plotting an ETA at the given warp to their destination and logging the actions to the database. Then he turned to the First Officer beside him. "A new ship. A new crew, and a new mission. I hope it's everything that you wish for Commander" he said, reading the unusual pensiveness in the new FO as they headed out. (Reply Jackson) The Captain nodded. "I want you to call a senior officers briefing for 13:00 hours in the Conference lounge, Tom. It's time to appraise everyone of our mission details" (Reply Jackson) The Ship then went to warp, the resultant static star field ahead of them suddenly blurring into the familiar streaks of light that accompanied warp speed. The Captain then spent a moment or two overseeing the readouts. After all, a lot of their key systems had just been either replaced or upgraded, and part of the test procedures after any major refit was always the field test. The ship appeared to be running at optimal performance with green lights across the board. So far, so good... The Captain then stood and made for his ready room. There was always work to do there. "You have the bridge Mr Jackson. Any problems, be sure to bring them to my attention" (Reply Nav, Helm, Jackson, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO, Cmdr Tom Jackson - 12:07) Tom sat listening and watching. He was nervous. Tom remembered the skipper was part Betazoid. He knew the skipper was sensing his nervousness. The. Captain spoke to him just then. "A new ship. A new crew, and a new mission. I hope it's everything that you wish for Commander" he said, reading the unusual pensiveness in the new FO as they headed out. Tom looked at T'Vhor before replying "Sir, only time will tell I suppose. However, so far so good". The issued his orders and turned the center seat over after having Tom set up a meeting of the senior officers. T'Vhor turned and went into his Ready Room. It felt good to be in the center seat once again. Tom went about setting up the requested 1300 meeting. Jackson quickly typed up a message and sent it to the affected personnel. (Reply: Department heads please) After sending the message Tom scanned the readouts looking for any abnormalities. He was glad that they had departed and was exited to see what challenges lay ahead. A message pinged on his PADD. He glanced down and saw that it was a message for a department head meeting at 1300. He nodded to himself and sent his acknowledgment. He looked over at R’uann who had the sickbay for the shift. “R’uann. I am going for a department heads meeting at 1300. Is there anything that you would want me to bring up in the meeting?” (Reply R’uann) (Reply R’uann, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – Medical Trauma Technician, Ensign JG R'uann - 12:13) Ensign R'uann was bored. This was probably the 8th time that she had run the simulation on the use of parasitic organisms to quickly repair extensive damage to the body in a battlefield scenario. It was year One stuff of a medics repertoire in the academy, but some bright spark of a high ranking surgeon had recently come up with a new way of doing things, and so, they all had to revisit the topic to see what they could add. If anything. Indeed, she was about to run the 9th simulation when Williams interrupted, which she saw as a welcome distraction. “R’uann. I am going for a department heads meeting at 13:00hrs. Is there anything that you would want me to bring up in the meeting?” he asked. R'uann was momentarily stunned. The CMO was asking her, an Ensign, such a question? Indeed, she was flattered, although at the same time feeling a little undeserving. But then perhaps Williams had simply noted her boredom and was acting accordingly by providing a little input to her otherwise 'boring' workload. "Umm, I'm not really sure" she began. "I don't suppose I could come, could I?", she asked, raising her hand like an eager child wanting a change of scenery. (Reply Williams) (Reply Williams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Conference Lounge – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 12:55) Andrew stepped into the Conference Lounge and nodded at the couple of heads of departments who had arrived before him. Several department heads were there already. Tom nodded and took a seat near where T'Vhor sat. Tom secured a mug of coffee and passed on the sweets. He found as he got older he gained weight too easily. Sipping the caramel colored hot drink he looked around at the others assembled. He mused on the thought that there were a lot of officers named 'Williams' on the Spectre. Given time, he'd make the familial connections. His wife and kids were integrating themselves into the Spectre's family. He wondered about his developing relationship with Captain T'Vhor. The man was an enigma to Tom. (No Reply) (Posted by Bill West) (USS Spectre – Conference Lounge – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 13:01) The Captain was looking over their orders as his senior officers arrived one by one, each taking their places at the table and talking amongst themselves as they did so. The new First Officer offered sweets, which the Captain respectfully declined. An overload of sugar right now might not go down too well with the CMO, and falling foul of Williams' wrath in that department, wasn't a good start to anything. Placing his PADD upon the table, the CO brought the briefing to order... "Ladies, Gentlemen", he began. "As some of you may know by now, we are currently en route to Galina IV, a Moon in the Persiom Expanse upon which a mining colony is tasked with extracting precious ore, and of which we have recently lost contact with" (Reply Any, IYW) "This is an area known for piracy and nefarious dealings of course, so we have been tasked with investigating the area and providing aid for the colony, should it be necessary to do so" (Reply Any) "Contact was lost with the colony Seventeen days ago. Up until that point the reports had been regular, albeit with one Two day delay, which turned out to be a communications array issue that was repaired by the on site engineering crew" (Reply Any) The Captain settled back into his chair, and then took a sip of the fruit juice he was currently partaking of. His own views on this particular mission were that Starfeet was easing them back into operational status with what they might assume to be a straight forwards, in and out mission that would not task the crew too much following their two year lapse in time. In his own experience though, it was those straight forwards missions that invariably turned out to be anything but simplistic. Time would tell.... (Reply ALL) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Conference Lounge – FO, CMDR Tom Jackson - 13:02) The captain began his mission briefing by outlining what command intended the Spectre's first mission after its time jump. On the surface, it seemed simple. T'Vhor explained, "we are currently en route to Galina IV, a Moon in the Persiom Expanse upon which a mining colony is tasked with extracting precious ore, and of which we have recently lost contact with". The captain explained further "This is an area known for piracy and nefarious dealings of course, so we have been tasked with investigating the area and providing aid for the colony, should it be necessary to do so" Tom was concerned. The potential for an armed engagement was highly possible. He looked to Cmdr Signos and waited to see what she'd recommend. (Reply Signos) Tom was mentally preparing a list of personnel for a landing party. Jackson added notes about the colony to his pad for more research after the meeting broke up. Tom listened as the other attendees asked their questions. (Reply None) (Posted by Bill West) ==========================================================================
