Tessner nodded as the Jopek introduced him "Let me start with general business, all officers assembled here will report for Medical exams, regardless of when they had their last exams. Mr Cambridge, please draw up a schedule to see everyone today, I want the results of the exams ready for transmission to Starfleet Medical by 19.00." ~I was going to have to any~ Tessner thought "Engineering, I need you to finish off the repairs to Valhalla's Sickbay and then begin on these upgrades that are arriving today from Earth, Valhalla's Tactical, Sensor and Shield grids are being unrated, please co-ordinate with the departmental heads of systems that are being upgraded." Jopek said getting to Engineering. "The Spectre is docked and awaiting repairs, I want her to be top priority, let the docking bays handle the ships under construction, I want you to focus on the ship and the damage she took in the last mission. Finally, as we don't have a Yard Engineering Officer anymore, I want Engineering to take over the duties of administrating the yards. Mark, can you handle that, I need a full report on all ships under construction." The rest of the meeting went fairly quickly. "Very well, if anyone has any questions or problems, I shall be available, but I ask you to direct all day-to-day problems to our Departmental Head or the First Officer, Lt Lono. Thank you for your attention. Kahila, I need to see you in my Officer at 11.30, dismissed everyone." ~I wonder if its always this busy~ Tessner wondered. (Reply none) (Posted by Josh Tessner) (Transport Shuttle Freedom - OPS Officer - Lt(JG) L'Tal - 11:00) L'Tal sat back, relaxed, and took in the impressive vista of Utopia Planitia and Starbase Valhalla as the shuttle sped him to his new assignemtn as the Federation shipyard's Head of Operations. For over a decade now L'Tal had served Starfleet with typical Vulcan dedication and his assignment to Utopia Planitia was reward for his efforts. Whilst many would say that he was now "out of harm's way", L'Tal knew better. Utopia Planitia had a long and colourful history for all the wrong reasons and an assignment here was far from being out of any danger. Numerous saboutage and terrorist attacks had been made on the Federation's primary ship-building facility by a number of different organisations, some more successful than others, and unfortunately for Utopia Planitia's crew nearly all of them had resulted in the deaths of an unacceptably high number of officers and production crew. After L'Tal's distinguished tour onboard Deep Space 2, he believed many people would use the old Earth saying of "out of the frying pan and into the fire" to describe his reassignment. L'Tal waited patiently as the shuttle gracefully banked to the left and made it's final approach to Starbase Valhalla. After a few more minutes L'Tal felt the shuttle gently come to rest inside Valhalla's main shuttlebay, and as one, he had his fellow passengers left their seats and disembarked the shuttle. Organised chaos was the best description for what greeted L'Tal as he walked down the shuttle's ramp and set foot on Starbase Valhalla for the first time. Scores of people hurried every-which-way across the expansive shuttlebay whilst numerous spacecraft entered and exited the shuttlebay . With a final check of his PADD L'Tal made his way carefully across the hanger towards the main turbolift system. (Main Operations Centre - 11:17) L'Tal stepped out of the turbolift and into the heart of Utopia Planitia. He would of been impressed, had his emotions allowed it. The level of efficiency and professionalism with which the officers in the complex showed L'Tal what he already knew, that the Commanding Officer was both a man to be held in high regard and perhaps more importantly to L'Tal a fellow Vulcan. A quick visual sweep of the room allowed L'Tal to locate the man he sought above all others, Rear Admiral Jopek. Making his way across the Operations centre, L'Tal moved to within an acceptable distance of the CO and waited patiently for him to conclude his business. He didn't have to wait long. "Lieutenant L'Tal, Head of Operations, reporting as ordered Admiral" announced L'Tal. (Reply from Jopek, Any) (Posted by Ian Walker) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. (Reply CMO, any) (Posted by Lenox) -Lenox - Lord of Hyphens (Otono Medical Center - CMO Cambridge- 1115) After a brief moment of working on paperwork, there had been a call in from the shipyards where a young man had been trapped in several pieces of rigging and was now on his way with severe injuries. Because of the intensity of his injuries, the man had been diverted quickly to Otono where Maxwell Cambridge now was, seeing over his recovery. His legs would work, but it would take some time and therapy to get them up and running again. A few moments later several more injuries made their way into the center followed by more until Otono Central was overflowing. Several officers were starting to move them to the Stormcentre next door, but it simply wasn't moving fast enough. ^Cambridge to all available medical staff in Central, need assistance, code yellow!^ Maxwell quickly moved several more into the waiting hands of the Stormcentre transport staff. It was a above normal day for him and his men. A shout from an orderly gave even more to be concerned about. One of the shuttles from the colonies was early. And it was then that someone decided to find him in the midst of the madness. "Sir, Second Officer Orde here for the physical. I thought I should get it done early - before the rest of the tactical staff. These days, I don't like to leave the station if my second is also off- station." Mac looked at him and smiled largely. "Welcome to Otono Central. Give me one minute..." He turned to the orderly and asked for the load of the ship incoming. 2 victims, both serious. Quickly, he ordered them diverted to Otono Stormcentre for evaluation and then onto Otono Care for the night. With that, he then turned to Orde. "And you were...ah yes, Orde! The one who had a run in with my Assistant Chief, whom I haven't been able to find. Follow me." With that, the CMO moved down a hallway, his normal white lab coat waffling in the wind behind him. He found an exam area and motioned for Orde to take a seat. Cambridge snatched a medical tricorder out and began to run it over the man. "Well, Mr. Orde, how are you feeling this fine and wonderful afternoon?" Cambridge nodded as he snatched a hypospray, checked it and then quickly snapped it to the man's arm, quickly drawing a bit of blood. "Anything of note as of late? Any injuries? Sickness? Love Affairs? Falling in love? You know, falling in love is one of the leading causes of troubles in men these days..." He smiled at that and grinned to the tactical officer. --------------There are two kinds of people: those who say to God: Thy "And you were...ah yes, Orde! The one who had a run in with my Assistant Chief, whom I haven't been able to find. Follow me." ~Eh? Rain's missing? I'd better put out a low call.~ With that, the CMO moved down a hallway, his normal white lab coat waffling in the wind behind him. He found an exam area and motioned for Orde to take a seat. Cambridge snatched a medical tricorder out and began to run it over the man. "Well, Mr. Orde, how are you feeling this fine and wonderful afternoon?" "Well, Doctor, I'm still feeling a bit piratical after my last debacle. But I guess that's something to talk to the counselor about. That and tired - I've got a ton of paperwork to catch up on, meetings to attend. You can probably guess the rest." Cambridge nodded as he snatched a hypospray, checked it and then quickly snapped it to the man's arm, quickly drawing a bit of blood. "Anything of note as of late? Any injuries? Sickness? Love Affairs? Falling in love? You know, falling in love is one of the leading causes of troubles in men these days..." He smiled at that and grinned to the tactical officer. ~What, can everyone see that I've somewhat closer to the counselor? We're good friends, that's all.~ Pierce felt himself softened somewhat by the doctor's friendly manner. ~A better bedside than Rain, in any case~ "Other than some bumps and bruises from my last mission, I feel fine. I know the counselor a bit better, but that's to be expected when one is thrown into close quarters with another person." (Reply CMO) (Starbase Valhalla: Security Office - Pierce Orde - 1230) Pierce tapped the commpanel at his desk. "Orde to Lon o. I'd like to set up our psych test for about fifteen minutes from now, if that's fine with you." (Reply Kahlia) "Okay. Orde out." He swiveled around to see his second, Ensign Blaine. "Mr. Blaine, take three squads down to Otono at thirteen-hundred. And for courtesy's sake, go unarmed. When a squad is done, signal for another. You get your physical first, and then manage the operation. At fourteen-hundred, contact me and we'll finalize our plans for the wargames." I know the counselor a bit better, but that's to be expected when one is thrown into close quarters with another person." Cambridge chuckled as he read the reading from the console in front of him. Blood tested normal and nothing of note. There was a heightened stress in the man, but with the tired look and mounds of paperwork facing him, it was understandable. But it was something Maxwell knew lead to other troubles in the midst of everything. "Well, on the bumps and bruises, you just need to have time to heal those wounds. But on the love connection, well that's another story..." The doctor chuckled and smiled widely. "Don't think I don't see it Mr. Orde! It's as old as time. Fools fall in love, as a wise man once said. It's natural and very normal. Have you made plans to woo her?" Maxwell raised an eyebrow. "Woo her, Mr. Orde. Get under her skin and into her heart. Make the move, get on with it, get it on, do the thing, you know, grab her before someone else does..." Shaking his head, he ran another unit around the young man before him. "You've got to have the moves. Here. let me help you." And before the officer before him could say anything, Cambridge pulled out a PADD and handed to the second officer. "You've got to make the move. Have dinner, go dancing, skiing, swimming or take a cruise. Have a picnic under the stars! That PADD there has some programs on the holodeck that could be of use to you. Now, about your health and then you can go. Your stress levels are a bit higher than I'd like to see them. Relax, get the lady and go out. I don't want to see you in here with some kind of nervous tick in a few weeks. Other than that, you're cleared for duty Mr. Orde. Any questions?" (Otono Medical Center, 12:45) The two surprise cases of the flu had been flown in effortlessly and were now resting in the Otono Stormcentre under the care of Jonathon Stone and assorted doctors. Cambridge checked his chrono. The good counselor was late, but it wasn't something Maxwell was going to get into bunches about. Considering he had 148 cases of a uncaring flu on the way to him. He had bigger fish to fry. He finished speaking to his nurse and found Kahlia Lono in front of him. "Dr. Cambridge, first Officer Kahlia Lono, reporting for the physical exam. I'm sorry to be late. But I was in a meeting with Admiral Jopek until nearly 12:00." Maxwell smiled, now knowing full well why Orde was in such a state. This was the reason. And what a good reason it was. "Ah, no need to be sorry Ms. Lono. Could be worse. Follow me over to the exam area and we'll get you out of here in no time." Turning, Maxwell Alexander Cambridge, a.k.a. Mac, walked to the exam area, which was slowly starting to fill with other physicals from the lower officers in each department. He guessed security and tactical were somewhere in there or at least on their way. Orde was nothing if efficient. Mac came to a table and allowed Lono to sit on it. "Well, how is the good newly minted first officer? Feeling well? Any injuries, maladies or sickness?" (Otono Medical Center - Pierce Orde - 1115) "Well, on the bumps and bruises, you just need to have time to heal those wounds. But as a side note," he said, leaning somewhat closer to the doctor, "If you see Rain, could you let her know that I need to speak to her? I left a somewhat personal item of mine with her before I left." (Reply Cambridge) Pierce nodded, and then left the center, PADD in hand. I would like to ask you to see if you can keep you side of the station on a look out for her, as I am worried about her right now..." Pierce nodded, and then left the center, PADD in hand Cambridge turned and cracked his knuckles. The game was afoot. (Starbase Valhalla, Counselors office, Kahila Lono, 12:00) Kahila had hurried back to her office, after the meeting with Admiral Jopek. She was having her lunch - a toasted cheese sandwich, which she'd ordered from a replicator in the lounge - as she checked her messages. ~Oh, no! Cambridge has medical exams for the counseling staff scheduled for 12:15. I'm obviously not going to make it on time. Well, I can only do the best I can at the moment.~ (Otono Medical Center, Kahila Lono, 12:45) Kahila walked into the medical center, and couldn't help smiling at the bustle and scurrying about, though she also found it somewhat alarming, considering the news about the virus. ~I suppose it doesn't matter that I'm a little late. The good doctor is obviously more than busy enough. I wonder what Cambridge is like, personally. I haven't exchanged more than a word or two with him since coming to Valhalla. Well, I suppose I'll become acquainted with him, with my new responsibilities.~ Kahila waited until Dr. Cambridge was finished consulting with a nurse, then said, "Dr. Cambridge, FIrst Officer Kahila Lono, reporting for the physical exam. I'm sorry to be late. But I was in a meeting with Admiral Jopek until nearly 12:00." (reply Cambridge) (Starbase Valhalla, Counseling Office, Kahila Lono, 1:30) Kahila came back into her office, sat down at the computer, checking her messages, and saw that at 12:30 Pierce Orde had requested his psych test. ~Well, it seems I'm constantly running late today. And I don't think it will get better in the forseeable future.~ She touched her combadge, returning Orde's call. "Pierce, sorry to delay getting back to you. I just returned from Otono. Would ten minutes from now fit into your schedule?" (reply Orde) (Posted by Josephine Goodman) (Otono Medical Center, Kahila Lono, 12:45) Kahila smiled at Dr. Cambridge, apologizing for her late arrival for the physical exam. Mac came to a table and allowed Lono to sit on it. "Well, how is the good newly minted first officer? Feeling well? Any injuries, maladies or sickness?" "No, none of those," Kahila replied. "Though I just returned from a very active away mission, and I have plenty of aches and a few bruises -- but nothing unexpected, considering that warehouse full of Klingons." She shrugged. "I think my body is finally adjusting to less sleep than I'd prefer. And I'm in rather a state of shock from my sudden promotion. Other than that -- I'm fine." ~I think this doctor has quite a strong personality hidden behind his bedside manner. Interesting. ~ Kahila closed her eyes, as Cambridge continued the exam. Her mind began to tumble with all the things she needed to do, the most immediate being to send messages to all the Valhalla officers, setting up psyche evalualuation times. Cambridge nodded and chuckled at the young lady's comments. He ran his medical tricorder over the woman's skin, finding the areas of aches and stress. He pulled out a slim unit and ran it over those muscles. "This should help slightly with all that problems. Also, here is a list of tea's that will keep you slighlty relaxed and a little more upbeat." He clicked the tool to the wall and put his hands on her shoulders and began to feel her muscles. Quickly, he did the same to her arms and hands, carefully inspecting each finger and runniing his tricorder. "You've got some stress areas in your upper shoulder areas. You may want to get a message or something along those lines in the coming days. In fact.." He pulled out a small paper card and handed it to her. "This lady runs a place on Valhalla. Give her this card and anytime you need one, free and as long as you need." Quickly, he snagged a hypospray and withdrew her blood quickly, and found nothing of interest. He turned to her and smiled. "Now, being that your the conselor, I'm sure you've had your share of men chasing after you..." He grinned as he lay back against the tool table. (Starbase Valhalla, Science lab - Science Officer Horacio Tyrell - 13:00) Horacio was a little tired, he had spend the last three hours modifying and reconfigurating several probes, all the Science staff despite the fact that they were being understaffed, had redoubled one's efforts but they had succeeded, all the probes were ready and they were beginning to launch them in direction of the subspace rivers. Horacio was satisfied, all they had to do now was to wait the first readings send by the probes, this increasing of speed inside the rivers was worrying and he was wondering what could have cause it, he was hoping it was just a natural temporary phenomen and not something caused by an external intervention. Like the others he hadn't taken the time to eat something and he was beginning to have butterflies in his stomach. " Ok everyone, we can't do anything else for the moment, we can go to the mess hall and eat something. Just one of you will stay here to monitor the consoles. " They were all on their way to the doors when a alarm buzzed from Horacio's console. " Oh no the medical examination, I've completely forgotten it." he exclaimed in thinking for a moment. He wasn't really enjoying to go see the medics but he couldn't get away from it, it was the Admiral's orders " Ok, half of the team with me to the medical center, the others to the mess hall, when you've eaten, rejoin us." Horacio ordered (Otono Medical Center - Science Officer Horacio Tyrell - 1345) They were just on time, Engineering and Science were scheduled at 13:45 but there was still no sign of the Engineering staff ~ Good, we'll be first, the sooner the better ~ thought Horacio already fearing the examination. He took a big breath and entered, followed by the halfth of the Science Team, he went in direction of the CMO " Ensign Horacio Tyrell report in for the medical examination Sir." (Reply Cambridge) " No, the others will rejoin us later, we've worked in the labs until now and I've send them to the Mess Hall to eat something.
