Begin Compile: Mission: The Day After Day 3 10.02.2389 .............................................. (Otono Medical Centre - CMO’s Office - CMO, Ensign (JG) Sarah J. Smith– 09.00) Sarah was busy going over the earlier day’s reports , ~Hmm Patient in ward 2 needs to be put under neural restraint ~ She thought after reading the report of unruly behavior of the patient last night. Just then she received a message on comm. =/\= All senior officers, report to the Conference Room… =/\= said the voice of Admiral Jopek. ~Well I better get moving~ Smith thought , As she was getting ready to leave for the transporter room he comm. Badge came alive with the voice of female nurse. =/\=Ma’am Ward 2 patient is out of control =/\= yelled the terrified nurse, Sarah could clearly hear screams ofparanoid patient in the background. “Okay sedate him, I am on my way” Smith said in a calm voice. =/\= Sorry ma’am but hes armed himself with a Exoscalpal , He’s not letting anyone get close .=/\= nurse said sounding worried and scared. ~I guess conference will have to wait.~ She thought “Ok Leave ward 2 and lock it down” Sarah instructed the terrified nurse. Tapping her comm. Badge “Security to ward 2” She said realizing the need to use force to get this out of control human back in line. ~This place sure needs a counselor~ She thought as she made her way to ward 2. (Otono Medical Centre – Ward 2 - CMO, Ensign (JG) Sarah J. Smith– 09.25) Two security officers were standing while two other were placing the unruly patient back on his biobed. Nurse in charge of ward 2 walked up to CMO and said “Ma’am he was asked to disarms but he attacked the security officers, they were forced to subdue him with their phassers.” “Sgt.Dave” the marine responded introducing himself Sarah was not at all happy with Fleets decisions to assign Marines to Otono as security but she knew command had its reasons. “Thank you Sgt.Dave, you may leave” Smith had not time to engage in small talk with the marine who was a handsome man in his mid thirties. As the Marines left the ward wise cracking as always Sarah turned and walked to biobed of the unruly patient. Visually examining the minor phasser burn on the mans abdomen she loaded a hypo and placed it against thepatients neck . “That should take care of any Side effects from the phasser hit.”She said to the nurse who was standing besides her . She knew Phasser when set on stun can still cause miner burns and sometimes headaches. She then turned to nurse “Ok place him under neural restraint and put a 24 hrs observation detail .” Sarah instructed the nurse As she turned to leave the over head comm. Blared =/\= Chief medical officer to Emergency room one=/\= ~What now !~She thought as she tapped her comm. Badge. “This is CMO ,What is it” She asked =/\=Ma’am we have a female human going into labor=/\= The voice of on duty nurse said. “Make necessary preparations, I am on my way, CMO out” Sarah said as she made her way to ER 1. ~This is going to be a long day ~She thought ,completely forgetting the conference she was suppose to attend. .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla - Conference Room - COUNS Lieutenant (jg) Nola Zizmier - 09:00) Nola had recently joined the station, then everything went crazy. The shuttle that Admiral Jopek had been in came up missing. Thankfully, not long afterward, he had returned still in relatively good health. She had been trying to piece together things that maybe she could have done that would have helped find the admiral, but, she could not find any. Maybe if she had spent enough time with him before he had left, she could have gotten a good imprint of his mind. It could possibly have helped her. Now the admiral had called a meeting, which, she was already late for because she had to finish her report that had to be sent in to headquarters. Once she had finished, she hurried as fast as her short legs could take her and still maintain the professional appearance of an officer. As she entered the conference room, she found that she was not the only late officer. Nodding to the Admiral she sat down waiting for him to explain what the meeting was about. .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Ready Room, CO, Admiral Jopek – 09.15) "Oh. The SFC contacted me about a rush priority job for a new prototype research and recon vessel class. I have designs and schematics for the Yard officers. That's all.", said the Starfleet Command Liaison. “I see, Ensign – A new class of ship from scratch? Mr Lor, can you take a look at the specifications? If Starfleet want this ship constructed, tested and ready to be used in less than 5 years, we need to base the frame of an existing ship and modify it…”, he said looking over at the First Officer. (Reply from Lor) “Ensign Damo, please inform Command we will do our best.”, he said looking back at the SCL. (Reply from Damo) The meeting moved on. "The only thing to report, sir, is that the Titan Project has contacted me, and said that they wish me to assemble a team to assist in terraforming the moon. It should consist of at least one archaeologist, as they wish to find the remains of the ancient probe Huygens before they begin.", said the CSO, Lieutenant Bevan, casually. Jopek blinked for a moment, terraforming the moon? What a project… normally, planets that have some kind of pre-existing atmosphere are used but Jopek was also aware of 23 century experiments to terraform dead moons but that project was abandoned because of the destruct force of the device used. “Fascinating, Lieutenant. Sounds like a massive project, worthy of Utopia Planitia.”, he said considering the 50,000 people already there. “I’ll assign you access to a runabout for your permanent use, you will be going backwards and forward to the Moon for quite a while. Keep me informed, I am very interested in this project.”, he said making a note in the duty log of runabout assignment. (Reply from Bevan) “Ensign Zero One Zero, we’ve had a request from Starfleet Operations to modify the Operations Command LCARS layout. They have send me a list of their specifications… this new design will be implements on all ships and stations within Starfleet.”, said Jopek passing a PADD to the TSO. (Reply from Zero One Zero) “They are hoping for a more efficient layout with more integrated controls.”, he said nodding at the Bynar. Jopek waited for any other comments from the assembled crew members. .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Ready Room, XO/YEO Lt. (jg) Tannis Lor – 0916) "Oh. The SFC contacted me about a rush priority job for a new prototype research and recon vessel class. I have designs and schematics for the Yard officers. That's all.", said the Starfleet Command Liaison. "I see, Ensign – A new class of ship from scratch? Mr Lor, can you take a look at the specifications? If Starfleet want this ship constructed, tested and ready to be used in less than 5 years, we need to base the frame of an existing ship and modify it…", he said looking over at the First Officer. Tannis brought up the schematics on his PADD, and looked them over, wondering if Star Fleet ever read it's own reports on construction times. "Five decks...It's not a huge ship, but the Admiral is right, if they want it in less than 4 to 5 years we need to some serious tinkering with the space frame. We can either expand on a Defiant class ship, or shrink down a Nova class ship's frame to get to the five decks they want. Even with this, it's going to take close to two years to get the ship made, assuming our modifications to the space frame pass muster and all of the stress and life expectancy tests. The Space frame takes the most time, especially a brand new one. Even if we modify a pre-tested design, it's still going to take some time." Tannis said, leaning back in his chair. ~~Engineer's, the most under listened to department in Starfleet.~~ Tannis thought as the meeting continued. .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla - Conference Room - CSO Lieutenant (jg) Bevan Delcan - 09:22) When the Jopek was done, he opened up the floor to anyone else who had something to contribute, “If anyone else has anything to say about their department, please share it now,” he said, sitting back in his seat. A young ensign that Delcan didn't recognize stood up, and spoke first. "Oh. The SFC contacted me about a rush priority job for a new prototype research and recon vessel class. I have designs and schematics for the Yard officers. That's all." Delcan stood as the other man sat. "The only thing to report, sir, is that the Titan Project has contacted me, and said that they wish me to assemble a team to assist in terraforming the moon. It should consist of at least one archaeologist, as they wish to find the remains of the ancient probe Huygens before they begin." .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Ready Room, TSO,Ensign, Zero OneZero - 09.25) "Ensign Zero One Zero, we've had a request from Starfleet Operations to modify the Operations Command LCARS layout. They have send me a list of their specifications. this new design will be implements on all ships and stations within Starfleet.", said Jopek passing a PADD Zero One Zero took the PADD. He tapped the PADD transferring the data to his buffer. He would look at it more closely after the meeting. "Yes Sir." "They are hoping for a more efficient layout with more integrated controls.", he said His eye brow rose slightly. ~That should not be to difficulty. That specifications appear solid enough~ .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla - EOO Office - EOO - Ensign (JG) Duncan Flynn - 1000) Flynn had found his office and was immensely impressed with the incredible resources that were available to him. Display monitors, holographic modeling imagers, and large display screens seemed to the norm. His desk was large and spacious, and it was apparent that already there was a small mountain of work piling up. He sat down and took a few moments to optimize his workstation, knowing that he wouldn't want to start that process in the middle of an important project. Once that was finished, he walked over to the replicator and ordered himself some hot coffee, black of course. He took a few moments to take in the view out of the three massive portal windows in his office. They looked out over Shipyards twelve and thirteen, with a partial view of yards eleven and fourteen if you were willing to crane your neck somewhat. He couldn't believe that an ensign could be assigned to such a prestigious position, with an office fit for a fleet admiral. Still, while it was impressive to him, it also had a strange way of reminding him exactly how demanding this position would be. He pulled up the individual schematics for the Firebrande, focusing on the refits and upgrades that had been mentioned in the briefing. The power relays and entire power distribution system seemed enhanced with a new model of eps conduits and with the addition of optimized ODN modules installed, the sensors would have more computing capability available then any others before them. Of course, he knew that he'd never be able to have a complete understanding of all these new systems without time to study them, so it would have to be a crash course it seemed. He decided therefore to focus on the aspects that most directly related to his work. The sensor arrays, ODN relays, warp power transfer modules and the improved emitters and receptors. The tolerances for the new sensor equipment looked very strict and Duncan had a feeling that they would be a hassle to install without experience with similar equipment. He overlooked the installation requirements and verified that all the equipment and materials that were called for in the installation schematics was here and available. He noted that several of the larger pieces of the needed equipment were scheduled for use on other projects. He didn't really feel that he had the authority to shift logistic resources at this early juncture, but he could compile a report of needed materials, equipment and schedules, showing their availability for the XO of the station. He was certain that the XO, Lieutenant Lor would be focused on reorganizing work schedules, and plugging the resultant project deadline gaps as a result that he may actually find this information useful. Flynn simply reprioritized the list and worked out an equipment availability schedule with suggested revisions for the XOs review and possible approval. As a trained engineer and logistician, Duncan knew how much organizational skills would determine if the work was completed on schedule or not. After a couple of hours of reorganizing his suggestions for the redistribution of materiel and preparing a transport and staging report for the refit cycles, he finally was pleased that all the fine details had been hammered out. And while he was certainly no expert in this particular refit operation, he was confident that should his plan be approved and implemented, that all the materials, equipment and parts would be staged and assembled in a efficient manner. All the XO would have to worry about would be the manpower allocations and fine-tuning of the reports and suggestions that Flynn submitted, based on his experience and knowledge of the station and it's personnel. He took a few minutes to have a quick lunch. After that was finished, he reviewed his work one last time and finally submitted it to the XO for his consideration. After all is said and done in Starfleet, that's what Operations officers are for- Logistics and Administration. After he had completed his lunch and sent on his report/suggestions, he started a more in-depth review of the new equipment that he would soon be using. .............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, TSO's Office, Ensign, Zero One Zero - 10.00) Zero One Zero sat behind his desk. He had the Operations Command LCARS layout in front of him as well as the five ongoing projects that the Theoretic science group were working on at the moment. He had brought all the information with him just in case the Admiral had asked him. He picked up the first PADD. The AWACS Project: which was run by a energetic woman had explained that her team were enhanced long range sensors for the nebula sensor module. Once it had been perfected it would be down sized to fit into most starship classes as well as the Titan and other exploration vessels. The next major project was the Mammoth Project: During the dominion war there had been a grate fear that the fleet yards were to vulnerable to attack. The answer that was suggested was to build smaller mobile repair yards. These yards had a minor warp capability and would transport under its own power. Once in place it could repair ships and build certain classes of ships. The Solo Flight Project was nearing its prototype flight. After the losses at Wolf 359 and during the dominion war it was decided to look into Unmanned Multimode Tactical Starships or UMTS. They were about twice the size of a runabout. They could be deployed as tactical escorts to a mother Starship. Petrol craft for star bases and planets. They were also looking at a deep space reconnaissance and exploration model. He were really looking forward to see how the flight tests would turn out. The Big Squeeze Project: was something he could understand and agree with. It was a way to micro compact large amount of data. This meant that more data could be stored in standard data storage. The Flash Bang Project: was a collaboration with Tactical Command. It was to develop a weapon that would fit into a standard torpedo shell. When detonated it would produce a pulse that would disable every electronic component on a ship. This would disable the ship with out killing its crew. Tests were proceeding well apart from when one torpedo malfunctioned and detonated in the torpedo tube. It fried the USS Indefatigable. He shook his head slightly he was glad that he was on the Indefatigable rebooting the starship was systems was not quick or simple. He picked up the PADD with the Operations Command LCARS layout data. He began with the binary codes and looked at the specifications which he had been requested to add. ~This should not take to long. I hope~ .............................................. (SB Valhalla, CO's outer office - SCL Ens. Damo Xivalere - 1028) Xiv was sitting around the anteroom of the admiral's suite, double checking his PADD with the database data, making sure he was up to date with the last synchronisation. Further orders had come in regarding the "Alpha" class of vessel; a holoprogram was appended, but it wasn't completed, and would be up to him now to oversee the project as SCL at UP. "Ensign Damo" Xiv was awoken from his thoughts of holoprogramming to see the XO/YEO, Lt. Tannis Lor. "Yes sir?" he enquired, returning the greeting with an honest inquiry. "Do you have any idea what these Starfleet matters the Admiral wants to talk to us about are?" "Not at all, sir. Maybe its a follow up briefing from earlier?" Xiv saw his superior nod, and chime the door, waiting for the Admiral to acknowledge their presence. ............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Tactical Command Office, TCO, Lt(jg) Rebecca Bradley – 1030) After the conference Becky had made a quick exit out of the room and headed to her office. After a quick stop for some breakfast she had finally made it back. She had gone through the information on the USS Firebrande she had decided how much personnel she needed for the small mission she had to take on while testing out the Galaxy Class ship. She was taking the ship to Alpha Centauri with a small crew compliment mainly compromising of bridge crew and a small amount of engineer's based in the main engineering, they were going to test out all of the Galaxy Class's systems. After doing so she would complete her tactical analysis on the vessel and then finish up by giving it; it's classification. She quickly sifted through Utopia Plantia's crew roster and decided the who the people she needed to contact were. The roster didn't show UP's CEO so she had decided to contact general engineering. "TCO, Lt. Rebecca Bradley to Engineering" (Reply any in engineering, Shayne Cody possibly?) "The admiral has asked me to take the new Galaxy Class the USS Firebrande out to Alpha Centauri tomorrow morning. I need a small engineering compliment in engineering for the trip. Could you sort that out for me? I will also need an engineering officer on the bridge." She said calmly and in a soft voice. (Reply from engineering) After talking to engineering she moved through her list of personnel she needed on the bridge, She knew Ensign Flynn was coming along for the ride, Sensor's would be his gig so she needn't worry about that. She sent him a small reminder through the comm. To meet her at 0845am tomorrow morning on the Firebrande's bridge. She contacted a tactical officer and a helmsmen and then decided that a fewer officers she had on the ship the easier the transition on take off would be. She quickly summarized what she planned to take the Galaxy class through, which was just standard Starfleet protocol and then sent that and the crew she was taking to the First Officer of UP and to the admiral. She kept a copy for herself and continued working with some of the more difficult documents to fill out. ............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Ready Room, CO, Admiral Jopek – 10.30) The door chime on the Admiral’s door rang and automatically, he invited the new arrivals to enter. The First Officer and the Starfleet Command Liaison stood waiting for a moment and then sat down at the Admiral’s request. “Gentleman, I have recently received a coded message from Starfleet Command and I wanted to share it with the both of you, seeing only the two of you have clearance.”, he said turning his screen around so they could see what was on it. The image showed the recent image of the small wormhole that had appeared near Sector 001, “We didn’t see it at the time but Starfleet Command has analysed our readings and they have found this.”, the image changed on the press of a PADD that Jopek had one his desk. A ship was clearly seen entering the event. (Reply from Lor, Damo) “We can’t identify the ship but we have a guess, it’s a Dominion ship, totally foreign to us… it looks like it’s been put together from other ships and that explains why we can’t see it… it’s cloaked with some kind of cloak we’ve not seen before.”, said Jopek. “We cannot help the people in whatever universe that tunnel led to but we have a problem, cloaked Dominion ships are operating in this Sector and who knows where else?”, he said turning the screen back. “Quietly, Starfleet Command wants this matter investigated, Ensign Damo, I want you to talk to all you contacts around the fleet and meet with a few Captains who have reported unexplained sensor readings in the past few weeks, Lieutenant Lor, I want to prepare Sector 001 for unexpected guests, we need to find any cloaked ships in this space and then expanded outwards… the first step is securing the inner planets, can you devise a system and then deploy it within the next few days? I will speak to the Commanding Officers in dock, I am sure we can use their ships to help deploy whatever system you can come up with.” (Reply from Lor, Damo) “Lieutenant, in addition, can you ask Mr Bevan to take a look at these sensor readings? He might be able to get more information, any questions?”, he said finishing the meeting. ............................................. (SB Valhalla, CO office - SCL Ens Damo Xivalere - 1030) “Gentleman, I have recently received a coded message from Starfleet Command and I wanted to share it with the both of you, seeing only the two of you have clearance.”, he said turning his screen around so they could see what was on it. Xiv's natural inquiring nature took over again as the computer displayed the images. ~Wormhole? By the prophets...~ “We didn’t see it at the time but Starfleet Command has analysed our readings and they have found this.”, the image changed on the press of a PADD that Jopek had one his desk. A ship was clearly seen entering the event. Xiv didn't double take, but just nodded: he had expected some such event, dispite appearances, Xiv was one of the strategic minds from his class. Part of his job as SCL was to make sure the Strategic implications of decisions made at UP were conveyed to SFC, but more importantly that the SFC were represented at the UP departmental meetings. “We can’t identify the ship but we have a guess, it’s a Dominion ship, totally foreign to us… it looks like it’s been put together from other ships and that explains why we can’t see it… it’s cloaked with some kind of cloak we’ve not seen before.”, said Jopek. I will speak to the Commanding Officers in dock, I am sure we can use their ships to help deploy whatever system you can come up with.” "Aye sir... Permission to appropriate a runabout for the coming days?" (reply Jopek) "Yes sir." Xiv replied, simply. “Lieutenant, in addition, can you ask Mr Bevan to take a look at these sensor readings? He might be able to get more information, any questions?”, he said finishing the meeting. ............................................. (Starbase Valhalla, Ready Room - XO/YEO Lt. A ship was clearly seen entering the event. "What the..." Tannis started then studied the image of the ship. "Sir, I've never once seen a ship of that configuration, although parts of it look familiar." "We can't identify the ship but we have a guess, it's a Dominion ship, totally foreign to us… it looks like it's been put together from other ships and that explains why we can't see it… it's cloaked with some kind of cloak we've not seen before.", said Jopek. "We cannot help the people in whatever universe that tunnel led to but we have a problem, cloaked Dominion ships are operating in this Sector and who knows where else?", he said turning the screen back. He might be able to get more information, any questions?", he said finishing the meeting. "Admiral, beyond Lt. Bevan, who else am I allowed to clear so I can show this information to, I would like permission to get Doctor Verhoven, and Ensign 010 involved in this, and possibly others as necessary, especially if we want fast results. I am by no means an expert in cloaking technology." ............................................. (StarBase Valhalla, XO's Office - XO/YEO Lt. (jg) Tannis Lor - 1050) Tannis walked into his Chief Yard Engineering Office, the office he was using instead of the office designed for the XO. He tapped his comm badge as he sat down at his large circular desk, "Lieutenant Lor to Lieutenant Bevan, please report to my office," Tannis said. The single continuous screen that stretched from floor to ceiling, and the entire circumference of the circular room, showed the view around the station. As he spun in his chair, the door chime rang. "Come," he called. Into the room walked a Lieutenant in Engineering yellow. She was quite attractive, and looked to be roughly his age. "Can I help you lieutenant...?" Tannis said. "Emily Brasher," The Lieutenant said as she stood in front of his desk. "Chief of one of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, Emergency Response Squads," she said handing the PADD with her orders on it over to Lieutentant Lor. "Captain Petrovich said I should report to you first thing. Tannis looked at the orders. "Never let it be said I never had a kind word for Bupers. Lieutenant, you are my hero, take a seat your just in time." Tannis said, gesturing for a chair across the desk from him. Emily looked around the office, which, other than the door she had just entered through, looked as if it had no walls, for the external views on all of the screens. Taking the chair opposite from her, wondering what she had just walked into. Tannis looked up and grimaced. "I'm sorry, allow me to introduce myself, although you do already know my name, I would assume. I'm Tannis Lor, XO of Utopia Planitia, Yard officer for Shipyard 8 as well as keeping a general eye on the rest of the yards." "It's good to meet you, Lieutenant, I have to say, I was somewhat shocked to be assigned to Utopia Planitia." Emily said with a smile. ~~Pretty smile, but now is not the time for flirting, so you just hold your horses~~ Tannis thought to himself, and smiled back. "Well, as far as I'm concerned, you can call me Tannis, I'm not one for formalities, and it's not like we have to worry about differences in rank." Tannis said, leaning back in his chair. "Emily is fine for me then. So, what exactly am I just in time for." Emily asked. ~~He doesn't seem like a bad sort,~~ She thought. ~~Fairly relaxed and laid back compared to some XO's I've had to deal with. "A project I was just handed by the Admiral, we're just waiting for Lieutenant Bevan, the Station's science officer, to arrive and then I can let both of you in on your project." Tannis said, just as the door chime rang. ............................................. (Starbase Valhalla - EOO's Office - EOO - Ensign (JG) Duncan Flynn - 1500) Duncan had been studying the schematics and installation manuals for the new sensor arrays until his head started to feel as if it might explode. He set aside the PADD that he was using and moved over to the replicator for some coffee. He retrieved his order and went to position himself in the center of the massive windows so he could watch the activity in shipyard 13. The workbees and personnel shuttles were buzzing around the Firebrande, like a swarm of bees protecting their hive against unwanted attention. He had Bridge certification and Line Training for almost any Starship that the federation cared to manufacture. He was comfortable enough on starships, he just wasn't sure about being on a ship that had would soon have undergone such a rushed refit. He could certainly see the need to test the hardware once it was installed, but pushing the installation just spelled possible disaster. He wondered how many of the steps in the Refit and Installation Guidelines Manuals would be skipped 'to save time'. He just hoped that no one would be harmed, or worse yet killed as a result of this rush installation that SF Command demanded they perform. He had already been sent a reminder to report to the bridge of the Firebrande early tomorrow morning, and had sent his affirmative response with a slight tinge of apprehension. He was already the farthest that he had ever been from Boston, which was ironic when you considered how easy it was to travel on an interstellar scale these days. Tomorrow he would break that record yet again, with a trip to Alpha Centauri. He finished his coffee and decided that perhaps it was time to get a little more familiar with the Firebrande. (USS Firebrande - Main Engineering - EOO - Ensign (JG) Duncan Flynn - 1545) Flynn stood watching as the Engineering teams began cutting the sections out of the bulkheads where some of the new hardware would be mounted. It had taken him nearly an hour to get aboard the ship, due to the limited personnel travels that could be done. It seemed that they were on a Transporter blackout for the Firebrande because the ACB could interfere with some of the Transport Assembly jigs that they were using on the ship. So he had to stand and wait for a personnel transport to become available to convey him across to the ship. He had been received on the ship by an engineer who looked less than pleased that he had decided to come aboard. It was only with some effort, that Flynn had convinced him that he was just having a look around and that he would not interfere with the work in progress, that the man finally conceded to allow him to tour the ship. There were several areas of the space frame that were open to the near-vacuum of space. this was due to the need to make modifications to phaser bank housings and mounts and of course to the Deflector array and sensor emission components. As a result, several areas were effectively unreachable without an EVA suit. He had wandered throughout the lower portion of the Engineering Hull until he finally reached main Engineering. The work all over the ship was tense and hectic, but the work in main engineering was twice as tense and three times as hectic. He watched as the Engineer's Mates worked at the plasma cutters and the assembly jigs with skill and precision. The systems engineers moved in behind them, preparing the EPS power conduits with integrated taps and Power routers, and only after they had finished, the components engineers, began the painstaking process of building the components mounting brackets, stands and braces. The teams here worked like a well oiled Swiss precision timepiece. It was impressive to watch. Still there were several other areas of the ship that he really needed to look into, primarily Astrometrics labs, sensor array assemblies and the bridge terminal interfaces. He wanted to make certain that once the equipment was installed that he would have an understanding of what to expect.
