Stardate:2406.03.04 (Location Unknown – Stardate Unknown – Time Unknown) "Doctor" Mar'lana started, "I need to change the pigmentation and color of my skin. Can you help me with that?" The doctor was a specialist in Starfleet Intelligence at manufacturing disguises. He was also the one to see for new techniques of disguising. "That would be easy enough to do. I also suggest that maybe you be changed over to another race for your trip. The medical personnel where you are going can return you to your original state when you need. Until then I can show you several ways to alter what I do for you." The doctor explained to her as he was examining her. "would this change take long to do?" She asked as she was very curious and intrigued at what he had in mind. "It will take only a little while and no discomfort at all to you." he replied, "the longest would be the change in skin color." "Ok, let's do it, I got a shuttle to catch." she decided and closed her eyes. The procedure actually did not take long at all which surprised her. She stood there looking at herself in the mirror and what she saw really did not show any of what she actually was. She was impressed at what the doctor had done. "Now once you get close to where you have to go or need to change into another somewhat different person, this is what you do." the doctor proceeded to show her how easy it would be to change into another totally different person unless you saw what she was doing. She had tried the procedure several times to make sure that she could do the change in the minimal amount of time. Satisfied, she was finally ready to catch the shuttle that was to take her to her new station. "Thank you doctor, I will see you again one day." She gave him a small kiss on the check. "Just dont get caught will be my reward on this." He said as he turned his back to go do something else. Stardate:2406.03.04 (USS Firebrande, Blaine's quarters - TAC/ASC Richard 'Rick' Blaine - 06.00) Rick was packing his personal belongings, after a three month travel back home, they were finally approaching Sector 001and Starbase Valhalla. The trip has been very quiet, all the crew members were so impatient to go back home that they hadn't the time to create problems. So his security function onboard the ship had been very set in one's ways. Rick was glad to be back and he was wondering if after 26 years his bar was still there but it wasn't the more important thing, he was wondering if his friend Sharkey was still alive, since having been trowned out of starfleet twenty years ago, Sharkey was his only friend left, all the others had prefered to trun their back on him but now he was back, he had the opportunity to be enlisted again in Starfleet, only as Ensign but it wasn't important for Rick, the more important thing was that he had the chance to start a new career. A call from the Admiral trought the comm-link interrupted his toughts =^= Senior Officers, report to the Observation Lounge at 0900, have status reports as best as you can ready =^= ~ at 0900, good I've still time to continue packing my things, after I'll pay a visit to the starbase's promenade, then the meeting, the morning is already taken up ~ tought he in putting his brand new uniforms in a bag. Stardate:2406.03.04 (Starbase Valhalla, Promenade - TAC/ASC Richard 'Rick' Blaine - 0700) The Promenade hadn't change very much, more shops, more restaurants and bars, plenty of new faces but the ambiance was still the same, it was still a good place to be. Rick walked with some aprehension in direction of the place where his bar was settled. He turned the corner and he couldn't beleived his eyes ~ no, it's not possible, I must be dreaming ~ but he wasn't dreaming, his bar was still there ~ damned, twenty six years and it hasn't changed for a while, even the name is the same ~ it's like I've left the station yesterday.~ and he walked in direction of the doors. ~ I wonder if it's already opened ~ he pushed the doors, it wasn't locked and he entered ; despite some changes in the decoration, the place was still the same, the tables, the seats, the bar were still at the same place. " We aren't yet opened, come back in one hour." said a voice coming from behind the bar. ~ I know that voice ~ tought Rick in making a few steps inside. " I'm sure you'll make an exception for an old friend ". The guy in the bar looked at him with a look of disbelief " I haven't any old friend left " the guy replied. " I know it has been a long time but Sharkey, it's me, Rick " Rick said " What ! Rick, no it's impossible,...but yes it's really you. " Sharkey replied in approaching and embracing Rick " Hey, hold on, you are gonna broken me some ribs if you continue to hug me like that, more than twenty years and you are still so strong." Rick said Sharkey looked at him " Oh no, I've changed but you, you are still the same what has happened and what are you doing in this uniform ? " " It's a long story my friend, I know it's still early but don't you have any good bottle, it has been a long time we had a drink together, I'll tell you all." Rick stated (Starbase Valhalla, Promenade, Rick's bar - TAC/ASC Richard 'Rick' Blaine - 0800) After several glasses of brandy, Rick had finished to explain all the story " .. and now we are back, twenty six years later." " Well, I was thinking that I wouldn't see you again, and what are you planning now ? Is it serious that job in Security, it's still you bar you know ? " Sharkey asked " No my friend, you've done a wonderfull job in all this years, the place is yours, you've deserved it and now that I'm back in Starfleet, I won't have the time to run two jobs. You are the boss now and you can change the name if you want." Rick explained. " Are you fool, Rick's bar is known in all the sector, I would loose all my customers if I change the name." Sharkey replied in smiling. " Well I wouldn't have guessed that this place will have been so well known, I'm impressed,...oh,oh, I must go, I've a meeting at 09.00, I'll come back later." Rick stated in standing up. " Come back tonight, you'll be surprised." " Ok see you tonight then " Rick said in leaving. Stardate:2406.03.04 (Starbase Valhalla, Observation Lounge - TAC/ASC Richard 'Rick' Blaine - 0900) Rick was already sitting at the table when the Jopek and Remae entered in the lounge, he was drinking his second mug of dark, strong coffee and the effects of the brandy were beginning to vanish. "Thank you all for coming - lets get started.", said the Admiral, walking over to the large viewscreen at the end of the room. "First order of business is to introduce you all to your new Second Officer, our Security Chief, Pierce Orde. Also, you know our Bartender, Rick Blaine, well, now it's Ensign Blaine, our new Assistant Chief Security Officer. I hope he continues to run the bar even though hes now working officially for Starfleet." Rick nodded to the other officers at the table while the Admiral was continuing his speech with the different promotions, the starfleet requisitions for the starbase and then the primordial subject, the Kalmorose. The Admiral then turned in direction of Lt. Orde and Rick. "Security/Tactical, as soon as we've found out more information regarding the Kalmorose, you'll be investigating them at closer quarters." ~ Well I hope we won't have to deal again with those aliens, I don't like the idea to be sent in the future on more time or even worse, in the past ~ tought Rick in paying back attention to the speech. After outlining the situation on each department, the Admiral said " That's all, any questions ?" Then Orde turned in his direction "Sir, in my reading up on the tactical specs of the area, I noticed that there was a ship stationed here at Valhalla. USS Firestorm, NX 50318. Prototype ship currently equipped with a photon flux cannon." ~ Photon flux cannon, what's that for a new weapon, I think I've several tech years to catched up ~ tought Rick while the Admiral was replying "Go on Lieutenant." "The photon flux cannon may help with the construction of the 'phase drive'. In any case, we should make sure the ship is space worthy. It only takes a crew of 25." "Lieutenant, ship assignment and crewing fall under the jurisdiction of the First Officer, Commander Lee. Please confer with him but the Flux Canon sounds fascinating, Dr Dervin, please investigate further, liaising with the Lieutenant as needed." "Anyone else have anything", asked the Admiral, looking around the room. There was no more questions and all the officers dismissed. Rick approached the brand new 2O " Congratulations for your promotion Sir, and what are you orders Sir ? " he asked to his superior. (Reply Orde) Stardate:2406.03.04 (Starbase Valhalla: Observation Lounge 1 - TAC/SC/2O Pierce Orde - sometime during the meeting and after nine.) " Congratulations for your promotion Sir, and what are you orders Sir ? " Pierce smiled. ~It's great to have help.~ "Mr. Blaine, I would suggest getting to know the rest of the security staff. Schedule a time when we can address the entire staff. Then let me know. When I get to it, I'll pull the general orders for you from the computer." Pierce thought for a moment, then continued. "When we're off-duty, we still need to have that little shooting competition. Loser buys a meal for the winner. At Rick's." He watched his new assistant consider the proposal. (Reply Rick) Stardate:2406.03.04 Outside Starbase Valhalla, Shuttle Deangalo, SPC SFI Fiona O'Connor, 10.00) "We're coming up on the docking port Miss..." The shuttle pilot stated. "You watch your tongue, understand? It's not 'Miss' anything, it's Ensign." She stated from the back of the shuttle. "Um, yes Ma'am -- I mean Ensign." The pilot corrected himself. "Very good." Fiona said as she was fitting herself with a non descript brown wig. She wanted to blend in, to make it look as she'd not come before. Passing a device over her face, it lightened her freckles until they blended entirely into her skin colour. "And I 'm thanking you kindly for this passage." Fiona said finally as the Pilot was docking. He turned back to look and saw that the officer whom he'd brought onboard on Earth now had changed completely, in fact, he wasn't sure it was the same officer that he'd brought aboard in the first place. Everything about her had changed. Absolutely everything. And she was no longer dressed in a Starfleet uniform, but instead a long flowing pair of pants and a creme blouse with a brown scarf wrapped around her neck. Her hair was a dark brown and she looked something like a classical movie star named Audrey Hepburn. "Ma'am, I can't help but wondering." "Keep your wondering to yourself." She snapped. "And let me off here." "Aye...." The pilot answered, and even her speech seemed to have changed there was no longer that Irish intonation that had amused him earlier. Not that she'd chatted much, she remained pretty tight lipped throughout the whole flight. "Should I have your belongings transported anywhere?" He asked. Fiona shook her head. "No, I have none. Just this case, I carry with me." She responded in a perfectly British sounding English in Federation standard. "Aye.." The pilot responded shaking his head. He was a little confused, he was starting to believe that he'd imagined the taking on of an Irish woman in the first place. "Alright that will be all." Fiona replied to the pilot, inwardly she was delighted at his confusion. There was something about the disorientation and doubt of others that Fiona loved to play upon. She liked feeling how they felt disoriented when she pulled one of her antics. She waited until the pilot had his back turned and was doing some post flight checklist before she slipped out. She could not be seen leaving. She could only guess at the confusion after her disappearance. Fiona stepped onto the station, she looked around. She was coming aboard under an Alias, no one, except her direct chain of command was to know she was here. "Name." The security guard asked. "Alaina Martin." Fiona said back. The security officer looked through his list and found the required listing for Ms. Martin, a Civilian who was designated to arrive sometime during the day. "Anything to declare?" "No." Fiona answered simply. "Welcome to Valhalla." Security stated. Fiona merely nodded her head. "Thank you ever so much." She said sweetly as she picked up her carrying case and headed aboard. She went into seeking mode, the SFI centre wouldn't be widely advertised, but she'd been given the proper instructions, or what she hoped were the proper instructions to find precisely what she was looking for. She stepped into the corridor and headed one direction, after precisely twenty eight steps, she changed her direction again. Then again. And then once more before she started to complete the directions that she'd been given to locate the centre. Stardate:2406.03.04 (Starbase Valhalla, main area, SPC SFI Mar'lana Dupree, 1015) Shinir Vltal, a Vulcan female, exited the shuttle and made her way onto the starbase. As she looked like any ordinary Vulcan female she was able to make her way onto the station without raising undo attention to herself. She stopped at several merchants pretending to look at merchandice and spoke perfect Vulcan as she asked questions about different items. Soon, she felt that it was time that she make her way to her destination as she was sure no one was tailing her. She followed each and every point of the instructions that had been given her to ensure that she got to the area that she needed to be at to meet her superior and that no one notices where she went. (Starbase Valhalla, SFI Command Centre, SPC SFI Mar'lana Dupree, 1030) Shinir Vltal, had managed to do everything correctly and found where she would meet her new CO. As she entered the office she saw someone sitting seemingly waiting also on someone or something. She thought to herself that this person had to also be an operative or how would she had found her way there. She continued without a pause to find a seat next to this person. "Been waiting long?" She asked in perfect Vulcan to see if the woman understood. "Have a seat, please, call me Remae, Rick." For a moment, the Bajoran took another sip of tea and then said. "It feels like I already know you; from another time and another place.", he said, drifting off again to his memories of the past and of other potential pasts. (Reply Rick?) "It seems to me that I was always getting myself in trouble, even before I'd acceptable my Bajoran heritage, which I am sure I did in the past. So, feel free to use my given name." (Reply Rick?) "I remember clearly getting myself into trouble when a few of us left out ship, against the Captain's orders, but apart from a loud amount of shouting from a fierce Bajoran Captain, we got away with it." (Reply Rick?) "I'd better get going, I promised myself to have a look at the Spectre, if you get a few minutes, you should beam on over, I could use a hand looking over her slight weapon systems, thanks Rick - talk to you later." Remae was up and as he walked away from the ex-bartender, he wondered if everyone was coping with their new memories. he was doing okay, but he was an ex-counsellor in one of these timelines, he decided to make an appointment. "Captain Remae to Counselling suites, can you book me an appointment for tomorrow, I would like to see a Counsellor about our trip into the future.", he said into the comm system. A female Vulcan, or who appeared as a female Vulcan intoned in Vulcan. "Oh, not really." Fiona answered back in her assumed British accent. "I've just been setting here a spot such lovely surroundings, don't you think?" (Reply Dupree) Fiona started looking at this woman rather suspiciously. Not that she was being overtly suspicious but in her own sense she was. There was something else, the empathic imprint that the woman left was not conducive to a Vulcan. It was almost.. like she wasn't. ~Of course she's not a Vulcan, you don't bloody well have a British accent either!~ Fiona reprimanded herself, ~Really now, sometimes you're quite dull!~ Fiona permitted herself a small smile. The woman before her's mind was not organized in a typical Vulcan fashion, something that others might not necessarily twig on, but as Fiona herself was used to the concept of masquerading as another it was something she was continually on guard for. At that moment, a man in a dark uniform passed down the corridor. "Names to submit to Lieutenant Marsland" He ordered. (Reply Dupree) Having not issued a Vulcan Name, Fiona relaxed slightly as she then said ; "Fiona O'Connor." "Thank you." The man said as he went about his way and disappeared into what Fiona had previously thought was a wall. The masks having been stripped off, Fiona turned to her 'Vulcan' counterpart and stuck out a hand. "Fiona O'Connor." she said, shedding her previously donned British Accent and resuming to her normal Irish diction. (Reply Dupree) "So I guess we're both here for the same thing." She said. (Reply Dupree) "Just out of curiosity, you're not Vulcan, that much is obvious, what are you?" Fiona couldn't help but ask. (Reply Dupree) "Really, that's a great disguise, who did your surgical alterations?" (Reply Dupree) NRPG: Yes, the women of SFI discuss their surgeons instead of drivel such as home decor etc ;) RPG: "I see." Fiona responded. He means to cure her of it. However, I still do not understand where the concept of the 'wrist derringer' originated. (Reply Tanya) "MEDICS?" ~ Oh great! ~ "If you're that worried about Commander Lee you'd better let me have a look at him. I have some basic medical training." Not waiting for a reply she side-stepped Tanya and examined Lee. What she saw made her purse her lips for a moment, then she snapped out. "OK, you two! Help me to get him off the chair and onto the floor!" With some effort the three women managed to 'lay' the Commander on the floor behind the desk although Eleni suspected that Lee would have a few bruises afterwards judging by the way his body hit the floor. Once he was down there, however, it was relatively easy to get him into the recovery position. With a sigh Eleni straightened herself up and regarded Lee. His breathing was ok, ~Which,~ she reflected ~ is more than you can say about his breath after all that alcohol ~ and his pulse was steady. "There," she said, "Now if he chucks up before the medics get here, he won't choke on his own vomit." She stepped over Lee's recumbent form and motioned to Tanya and Kahlia to sit down. "Now, Tanya, let me see if I understand what's on this PADD correctly. YOU are upset because it seems that in this universe Mark Dervin is the son of Commander Lee and Tanya Dervin. Who are, or rather were, completely different from you and 'our' Commander Lee. You are finding this hard to cope with, as is 'our' Commander Lee by the looks of it," she added dryly. (Reply Tanya iyw) "MS Dervin, over the last six months I have counselled many crewmembers who are devastated by the loss of close family in our timeline. She finshed as she turned to address Kahlia, ignoring Tanya for the moment. " Would you say that that was a reasonable assessment? I am sorry but the word reasonable doesn't seem to fit here too well, does it?" (Reply Kahlia) Eleni turned to regard Tanya again. "It seems to me," she said not unkindly but firmly, "that the ones who are MOST in need of my help would be Mark and his siter. Don't you think so too? THEY are the bereaved ones here! I know this must have come as a shock to you and Commander Lee but really, you should be seeing this as something positive, NOT something negative. The ones who have lost out are Mark and his sister. I can't say they seem to have done well out of the exchange, the way you two have been behaving, can you?" (Reply Tanya) Eleni regarded the still form of Commander Lee for a moment when the door opened and an EMH entered the room. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency." He said to the assembled group. "The 'medical emergency' is that man behind the desk," Eleni said as she indicated Commander Lee, still in the recovery position where he had been laid. The COUNS paused before continuing, "If you're that worried about Commander Lee, you'd better let me have a look at him. I have some basic medical training." "Oh good." Tanya replied as Rodos sidestepped over to Lee. "OK, you two! Help me to get him off the chair and onto the floor!" Rodos snapped. Tanya looked over at the other Counsellor whom she'd yet to have met and nodded as she went over and did as she was told. The three women somehow managed to lay the seven foot commander on the floor behind his desk. However his process from the chair to the floor was something less than gentle, Tanya was certain. "There, now if he chucks up before the medics get here, he won't choke on his own vomit." "Very wise." Tanya mentioned as Rodos motioned for herself and the other Counsellor to sit down. "Now, Tanya, let me see if I understand what's on this PADD correctly. YOU are upset because it seems that in this universe Mark Dervin is the son of Commander Lee and Tanya Dervin. Who are, or rather were, completely different from you and 'our' Commander Lee. You are finding this hard to cope with, as is 'our' Commander Lee by the looks of it." The counsellor added. "Well yes, that's sort of it.." Tanya said hesitantly, because really when you put it that way it sounded so simplistic but really that wasn't the reason that she'd well it was but also wasn't. "MS Dervin, over the last six months I have counselled many crewmembers who are devastated by the loss of close family in our timeline. "BUT THAT's NOT WHAT I WAS TRYING TO..." Tanya started but her breath was completely wasted as Rodos turned to the other woman and spoke. Tanya's temper was starting to boil, this woman didn't understand what was going on here. This wasn't what it looked like, or rather it was but it wasn't. The frustration was mounting. The other woman had said something, "How far reaching are these reality changes? Do they affect Earth? Other planets?" Tanya looked at her with confusion, "They affected us when we arrived in this timeline." She managed to answer. Then Tanya's attention was drawn back to the COUNS as she was speaking. "It seems to me, that the ones who are MOST in need of my help would be Mark and his sister. Don't you think so too? THEY are the bereaved ones here! The ones who have lost out are Mark and his sister. I can't say the seem to have done well out of the exchange, the way you two have been behaving, can you?" "THAT's PRECISELY MY POINT!" Tanya objected. She was starting to be able to get her mind wrapped around the situation at hand. Tanya was about to continue further as an EMH entered the room, and she paused, again frustrated, that she'd not been able to convey the proper meaning of what was happening. Or well what wasn't happening, or... Tanya shook her head, this wasn't going well at all. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency." The EMH stated in its usual demeanour. "The 'medical emergency' is that man behind the desk." Rodos stated as she indicated in the direction of Lee. "And I think the cause might be those empty alcohol bottles." The EMH scrunched up his face in the approximation of making some sort of facial expression that Tanya could only guess at. "I'm the doctor here, madam." The EMH stated towards Rodos, "Diagnosing medical problems is my duty. It is highly unlikely that empty alcohol bottles could cause any sort of illness." ~Talk about thick!!! ~ Tanya thought her patience already having reached the limits of this situation. The morning was turning out to be nothing more than stress in a bottle. Tanya stood up from where she was sitting. She turned to the EMH and raised her voice. "Alright, I've had it! " She said. "Here we go. 1." she said turning on the EMH. "Those bottles used to be full and it's what was in them and is now in HIM that is causing the problem, got it?" (Reply EMH) "Good." She said, not really caring whether the EMH got it or not. "And secondly the reason that I called you down here, Admiral, Ensign, CPO, whatever rank you are Rodos Counsellor lady is because I DIDN'T KNOW what to do. We're meeting Mark for Dinner today and HE" She said as she gestured over to Lee, "Started Drinking BEFORE I got here, and then passed out, and HE doesn't think that we've got responsibilities to Mark but I think we do but I'm not sure what, and I don't KNOW WHAT TO TELL HIM. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACT around him, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY, Or even WHAT TO THINK. I'm NOT SURE HOW TO DEAL WITH HIm, HOW TO HELP HIM DEAL WITH WHAT's HAPPENED and well.. ..I don't know how to deal with HIM either!" Tanya said as she again pointed over to Lee. " AND THAT's What's happened, and I don't know. I don't know, it's just all happened, so... so.. .so... and I really don't know, and I have no clue, and it's not like I've been through this before, not like I even HAVE kids, do you know what it's like to all of a sudden figure out that you've got like a 25 year old son when you're like 35? How's that possible, so obviously I'm not his mother and yet I am, and how am I supposed to parent him? if that's what I'm supposed to do, how is it that I can deal with it, does he expect me to be his mum when I cannot? Or can I ? OR, because Apparently I 'm not the same person but IS till look the same, no doubt he will naturally assume that I'm the same, and he was crushed when we fought thinking we hate each other, which incidentally is apparently a problem that he thought I Hated him but I really didn't, and then he was like rambling, on and on and on, and I h ad no idea, but then I got a clue and it was just.. just.. just... JUST TOO MUCH TO PROCESS!" Tanya looked around the room, all eyes focussed on her as she finished her rant. Then she quietly sat down. "Counsellor, sir." But she realized this wasn't a likely time for her to aquire that sort of enlightenment. She needed to focus on the here and now problems of the people involved. When Rodos turned to address Kahila, ignoring Tanya for the moment, and said " Would you say that that was a reasonable assessment? I am sorry but the word reasonable doesn't seem to fit here too well, does it?" ~Wow, I'd just as soon not have to get into the middle of this conversation! Nevertheless . . . ~ "I've begun to doubt that any aspect of this situation could be termed reasonable," Kahila said, glancing back and forth between Tanya and Eleni. She knew her words offered no help at all, but at least she felt she hadn't taken any stand before knowing more about what was going on. Then after several moments spent listening to the interchange between Eleni and Tanya, Kahila grew even more amazed. She realized that her earlier assumption-- that Tanya and Mark were somehow brother and sister -- had been wrong. Instead, Tanya-- one Tanya or another -- was Mark's mother, despite only ten years difference in their ages in this universe. ~ Geee, what that must be like,~ she thought. Kahila was rather glad for the interruption of the EMH, especially for the brief respite of humor. Then she wondered how Eleni would reply to Tanya. When Tanya handed the PADD to Counselor Rodos, Kahila looked over Eleni's shoulder and glanced through Mark Dervin's service record. Then she listened as Tanya talked of her brother— or was it her brother? Suddenly things shifted into place in Kahila's thinking, and she really thought she did know what Tanya meant. Kahila said, "Well, I've known some families that would love to have a completely new start in their relationships, and erase all their pasts. " Then she looked from Tanya to Elini and wondered if she'd said something she shouldn't. She didn't after all mean to take a humorous slant on the identity confusions. Suddenly a horrid thought occurred to Kahila. Maybe the reality changes didn't only occur to people on Starbase Valhalla and the ships. Could it be more all-encompassing? Affecting Earth. And— perhaps even her own family! She hadn't called her grandparents or her mother since leaving Earth for her first mission. Oh, what if they didn't exist now! Or if they existed, but were not really themselves. Of course, her father had been dead for many years— or had he? Kahila felt suddenly dizzy, and reached over to grab the side of the desk. When Eleni looked her way, Kahila asked, "How far reaching are these reality changes? Do they affect Earth? Other planets?" She'd been so exhausted after the encounter with Tanya Dervin, and the unconscious Lee-- not to mention her own emotional confusion-- that she'd needed some refreshment before continuing her day. She keyed her password into the computer, then asked, "Do I have any mesages?" The computer told her that TAC/SC/20 Pierce Orde had left a message about setting up an appointment. Kahila Lono was very surprised. From what she'd heard, Pierce Orde must be extraordinarily busy. She tapped her combadge, then said--feeling suddenly confused about how to address him-- she'd always had a hard time remembering protocol. =^=Sir, this is Ensign Kahila Lono. NO!" Bill screamed "If you stand there and she stands there and she stands there," he said as he lept out of the audience and on the stage and started moving the trio again, "Then you'll block Audrey II. Just because we don't have a proper mock-up for her yet doesn't mean that you can just stand like that. You block it like that now, and then when we get Audrey there'll be another set of nightmares to contest with." Bill looked frustratedly at the props master, "Do you have any idea when Audrey is supposed to be arriving?" Ted, the props master sighed, "Well she was supposed to be here yesterday, perhaps she was delayed in customs? Audrey's mock up is rather big..." He explained. "I don't care at this point, they can't rehearse without an accurate Audrey so I want you to find that prop!" Bill snarled at Ted. "Yes, sir." Ted said, less than impressed with the tone of voice that Bill had used towards him. And Ted went off the premises to try and ascertain an ETA for the prop. "Alright, let's take it from the top of this scene." Bill stated. The trio took their new positions and prepared for the beginning of the scene. "From the introduction of the song." Bill instructed the accompanist. The introductory bars filled the theatre. The three inhaled at the same time and began their chorus: " Little shop, little shoppa horrors. Little shop, little shoppa terror. Call a cop. Little shoppa horrors. No, oh, oh, no-oh! Little shop, little shoppa horrors. Bop sh'bop, little shoppa terror. Watch 'em drop! Little shoppa horrors. (Starbase Valhalla, Cargo Bay One, Ted the Propsmaster, 17.15) Ted was expecting Audrey's prop to be dropped off in Cargo bay One, so he thought perhaps that would be the first place to look, after all, he mused to himself, it wasn't likely that someone could misplace the prop for the musical 'Little Shop of Horrors' which was, a giant man eating plant named Audrey. The heavy cargo bay doors opened. Sitting in the midst of the Cargo bay was a giant plant that looked as if it could devour an entire person with one gulp. ~wow that's even more realistic than it looked in the catalogue~ Ted reasoned as he saw the plant before him, and it had the loveliest pink flower budding from one side. "There you are Audrey!" He exclaimed as the heavy cargo bay doors slid shut behind him. As Dave headed out, Bill turned his attention back to the actors on the stage. "Alright Seymour... Action!" Bill called from his seat on the auditorium floor. The introduction of the music began to play, Seymour took his spot and then began to sing; " I've given you sunshine I've given you dirt. You've given me nothing But heartache and hurt. Stardate:2406.03.04 (Starbase Valhalla, Cargo Bay One, Dave, the Assistant Propsmaster, 17.50) Ted had mentioned something about Audrey being received in Cargo bay one, surely that's what had happened, he'd found out that Audrey was going to be arriving shortly and he had gone to pick her up. But surely a prop of that magnitude was going to require the help of more than one individual to move, even with an anti grav trolly, it would need stabilisation. That's probably what it was he was having to take it really slow because of it's magnitude. The heavy doors of Cargo bay one slid open, and Dave made his way inside. "Ted? TED? " Dave called, to which, of course there was no reply. "Hey look at that!" Dave said to no one in particular, "That's even better than the one we picked out in the Catalogue." ~But where's Ted?~ he wondered, Maybe Ted had gone back to get him? ~Would you look at that!~ He thought as he moved towards the plant, it even had some blood on it, talk about authenticity. The heavy doors of the Holodeck slid shut to cargo bay one. (Starbase Valhalla, Stage, Acting Troupe (minus props master and assistant props master), 18.00) "Wonderful, wonderful! This is really coming together!" Bill said with excitement. "Alright, cue the trio and the Dentist for the next scene, everybody take five, it's really coming together nicely." He commented. Totally confused as to where the props department was gone, Bill gestured over to Bob, the apprentice props master to call him over. "Hey Bob, come over here..." Bob came rushing over. "Yes sir?" He asked in his youthful, eager-to-please way. "I sent Ted and Dave out looking for an Audrey prop and they've both been gone an awful long time...." Bob perked up, trying to full of initiative and anticipation -- after all, one day he wanted to be a props master himself. "I'll go look for them sir, and I'll get an Audrey prop for us to rehearse with." He said quickly. "Excellent, thanks Bob, you'll go far in this field." Bill stated as he clapped a hand on the young man's shoulder. "Thank you sir, Thank you.." He said gracefully as he exited the room to find both Ted and Dave. "Alright gang, let's take it from the top. Maestro if you would..." Music filled the auditorium as the Dentist character took centre stage: "When I was younger, just a bad little kid My mama noticed funny things I did Like shooting puppies with a B.B. gun I'd poison guppies and when I was done I'd find a pussycat and bash in its head That's when my mama said " Then the trio came in again and chimed: "What did she say?" Then the Dentist moved back to centre stage and began again: " She said, "My boy, I think someday You'll find a way to make your natural tendencies pay You'll be a dentist You have a talent for causing things pain Son, be a dentist People will pay you to be inhumane Your temperament's wrong for the priesthood And teaching would suit you still less Son, be a dentist You'll be a success" Back to the Trio: "Here he is, folks the leader of the plaque! Watch him suck up that gas! Oh, my god! He's a dentist and he'll never ever be any good Who wants their teeth done by the Marquis de Sade? Oh that hurts! I'm not numb!" The Dentist continued: "Oh, shut up. Open wide. here I come! I am your dentist" Trio:"Goodness gracious!" The Dentist went on: "And I enjoy the career that I picked I am your dentist" Trio: "Fitting braces" The actor inflicted pain as he sang: "And I get off on the pain I inflictWhen I start extracting those molarsYou girls will be screaming like holy rollers" The trio chimed in: "Dentist!" And the Dentist finished up:"And though it may cause my patients distressSomewhere in heaven above me, I know that my mama's proud of me'Cause I'm a dentist- and a successSay ah! Now spit."
