He was again up in the wee hours of the morning so he could have a live feed with his wife and children. "Hey hun, how's things?" Peter drank in the sight of his wife, her long brown tresses looking like nothing short of a waterfall of sparkling sweet tea. ~Perfect,~ he thought as he smiled. [Doing ok, we've got some ships in for upgrades and I've been helping with some interesting warp theory problems on one of them.] Her smile lit up the screen and Peter felt pride for his smart wife. "Great, how're the kids?" [Stefan misses you, he's taking it out on his judo program though and not on his brothers at least.] Collette rolled her eyes, smiling, [Arty is enjoying the swimming lessons and Nadia is so happy with the art kit you sent, you may have to send a replacement soon.] Pete chuckled at that, his little girl was certainly an artist in the making. "How's Andre? Is he still fighting those other boys?" Peter let his concern show momentarily. [He's still pretty aggressive, but there hasn't been any full on fights since the one with Jonas.] Colette shook her head, [The boys need you Pete, how's that family move request coming?] Colette searched his face through the screen, hope mixed with the pragmatics of a Fleet officer. Pete sighed, "The CO here doesn't like kids, Col. I've requested every which way I can..." He was cut off mid-sentence as the door behind his wife slid open and Nadia caught sight of her father on the screen. [DADDY!] Her curls flew as she raced her older brothers to the screen. Pete beamed, "Hey Pumpkin, how's my artist today?" [Oh Daddy, thank you for the art box! I like the paints the best.] Pete chuckled, "Go get your best picture to show me, ok?" Nadia beamed and nodded before running off. [Dad, when are you bringing us to DS15?] Peter smiled a bit, but sadly, at his oldest boy, Stefan. "Sorry, buddy. The Station CO won't let you all come out." Stefan grunted and walked away as another faced entered the screen, that of the contrary Andre. [Hello, Father.] ~Eleven years old and a chip on his shoulder, more like me then than either of us really can see.~ "Hey, how's my young warrior?" Pete looked into his second son's eyes, showing him honour - Andre was the only one of his boys who seemed to take to the Klingon traditions. [I'm good Father, I've been honourable and haven't fought.] Peter nodded, "I'm glad to see you honour our agreement Andre. I'll continue trying to earn you a place at the Klingon Academy, but you must continue to work hard also." He gave a short nod and the boy nodded back stepping out of the way for the youngest, Artemis. [Hi Daddy!] Arty's bright face lit the screen. [I can swim!] Peter beamed, "Great job Arty! I want to see you swim next time I come home." Nadia came streaking back in, practically runniing over her younger brother, [Here it is, Daddy!] She held up the picture - Peter thought it looked like a family portrait and was slightly saddened by the fact that he was off in a corner. He was far away from them and wanted them a whole lot closer. "It's beautiful, sweetheart. I want to see many more when I come back to Geneva, ok?" Nadia nodded and left. Colette was left, with Artemis on her lap. The four-year-old had a thumb in his mouth, but was remarkeably calm for one who had just been steam rolled by a nine-year-old. Peter looked at his wife of nearly 15 years. He thought the years had been good to her, she was even more beautiful than the first day he saw her on the Academy grounds - they had been taking an advanced engineering theory class together in their final year. "I'll see if I can transfer to Geneva or something." He sighed, missing her more than he cared to admit. Colette smile back at him. [I'll look into active duty, maybe we can advertise ourselves as a matched pair.] Pete grinned, "That might work. Love you." [Love you too] Peter kissed his fingers and then the screen before closing the connection and rolling back onto the bed with a sigh. He tapped the light control and closed his eyes, attempting to get some sleep before another long day on the Hades. (reply none needed) (posted by Lori) (DS15- Stevenson's Quarters- CSEC/CTAC, Lt. Baylon Trinin 1209) "We have company, get out of sight." Baylon called just a few moments before the door to the quarters slid open with a near silent hiss. He was standing with his back to the door and had barely managed to slip the tricorder and the commendation into his pocket, when he heard a man's voice call out. "Hold it right there assholes." Baylon froze, slowly raised his hands to the side to show he was not carrying a weapon and slowly turned around to face the door. Two security personnel were there. The first a fit looking man pointed a phaser rifle at him. The second was a dark haired woman, similarly armed. "There is here mistaking." Baylon said in what he hoped was a heavily accented Federation Standard. "I not with weapon, you must no harm me." Things were not going to be pretty very soon and he realized that their mission was now very much in jeopardy. Yet he wondered how they had been discovered so quickly. He knew that the security systems had been thoroughly bypassed before they entered, which meant...  Someone else was monitoring the commander's quarters privately. "I no enemy" he added. (reply Pitt & Jolly, Katsurou) Daniel Greene (DS15- Outside Stevenson's Quarters- Sec Officer- Lt. Bradford Pitt- 1210) Pitt had been sitting at the security station when he noted that the intruder alert had been set off in Commander Stevenson's quarters. He thought what had happened to his former boss had been a bit ... out of the ordinary, so he had automatically set up surveillance in all of his more frequented areas. Suddenly, it seemed that someone was interested in the Security Chief's quarters. It wasn't that anyone had set off the intruder sensors. No, whoever had broken in had taken their time to avoid all of the normal pitfalls of a thief. If he hadn't set up a surveillance camera, himself, then he may have not known that anyone had gained access. Whoever these guys were, they knew their stuff. He hadn't wanted to alert to many others so Pitt collected his partner, Angel Jolly and headed up to the living area, and Stevenson's place. He wasn't sure why he hadn't reported the break in immediately. There were just too many strange things going on, and the captain... he was just acting weird. No, it was best that he took care of this himself. When they arrived it took a quick scan with his tricorder to confirm that the door had been opened within the last five minutes. He nodded to Angel, who positioned herself on the other side of the door. Pitt had to smile. If one just looked at Jolly they would hardly believe that she was capable of the mayhem that she was. She was lithe and quite pretty. But she was solid... and quite dangerous when put out. He had a feeling she was about to be put out. With a nod, he put his door control on the console beside the door. He tapped the sequence to open the door, then they both swung in, Jolly high, and himself low. "Hold it right there assholes," he yelled, bringing his phased rifle up to bare on one of the intruders. He didn't see the second, and kept his senses alert. (reply Trinan, Katsurou) (posted by Al Muir) (DS15, Stevenson's Quarters - ATAC Takeshi Katsurou - 1215)   Upon entering the room Takeshi walked around it twice, taking in everything. He actually liked the room. It was a bit spacious for his taste, but the decor was much more to his liking. He was about to make a comment on all the medals when Baylon moved  to take one down. ~Focus.~ "We have company, get out of sight."  Takeshi didn't waist any time. He bolted for the room off to the side which contained the officers bed and wardrobe. Just as the door closed shut behind him he heard the security officers burst in on Baylon.  "Hold it right there assholes."   Takeshi quickly looked round the room he was in. Most people checked the left side of doors immediately upon entry. The ensign halted for a moment. From what had been said it was clear they  knew two men had been in the officer’s quarters which meant they knew he was here. It also told him that someone else had set up surveillance of the Sec Chiefs quarters. ~Either someone wanted  to watch him apart from the normal systems. Or someone isn't happy with what is going on inside the system as a whole.~    Takeshi wasn't sure what he should do. For the present he took what seemed the best course of action. Removing his trench coat he put it on his staff and then leaned it against the wall on the left side of the door. With his distraction in place Takeshi took up his position on the other side of the door. With any luck he would get the first blow in. Pressing his ear to the wall he hoped to get a snatch of what was going on in the other room. "I not with weapon, you must no harm me." "I no enemy" If the situation hadn't been so serious Takeshi might have laughed. As it was he realized the gravity of the situation which faced them. (Reply, Pitt, Jolly and Baylon) Christopher Black (Hades-Ensign(Jg) Soo-kara Krommes-1300) Upon arrival to the Hades Soo-kara took a look around. ~Now to find my way to the captains office. This shouldn't be too hard.~ "Excuse me." She asked a tall man with blue skin that was walking by. "By chance do you know how to get to the captains office. I'm new to the ship and need to report in." The man quickly explained how to get to the office and wished her luck. She walked down cool crowded corridors for about ten minutes before arriving at the captains office door. She then pushed the chime to let the captain know there was someone there. (Reply Straton) Taking a quick look over herself before walking into the captains office, she brushed out a few wrinkles and adjusted her uniform a tiny bit. With that she stepped into the captains office taking a quick look around to see what all was on the walls and on the bookshelves. "Captain Straton. Ensign Soo-kara Krommes reporting in for duty ma'am." (Reply Straton) (Posted by Sheena Hill) (USS Hades, Ready Room, CO Captain Eva Straton, 13:02) ~The 'paper' work never seems to end.~ Eva thought as she moved on from one report to another. She took a small sip of her iced tea, her eyes on her terminal screen reading over yet another report. The door chime sounded suddenly. Eva put down her tea as she looked up from her terminal screen. "Enter," She called, deactivating the terminal screen. She watched as a young Ensign in medical or science blue walked into the room, took a quick look around the room before stepping up in front of her desk. ~Pink hair and green skin. Interesting contrast.~ Eva thought though her facial expression never changed. "Captain Straton. Ensign Soo-kara Krommes reporting in for duty ma'am," the new Ensign said. "Orders," Eva said crisply, holding out her hand. She took the PADD from the Ensign and quickly unlocked the orders contained on it. She read over the orders quickly before putting the PADD down on her desk. Her steely gaze then went back to the Ensign standing in front of her desk. "Ensign Krommes," She said her tone all business, "I see that you've been assigned as our newest Assistant Chief Medical Officer. We are currently undergoing some emergency repairs to our secondary computer core. Once that is complete we will be returning to our mapping and exploration mission of this sector. I want you to report in to Lt. Windsong-Trommashere our CMO once you've gotten your belonging stowed in your quarters. She will assign you a duty shift and bring you up to speed on things in Sickbay. If you have no questions, then you are dismissed." Eva held the PADD with the Ensigns orders up in one hand. "And Ensign, welcome aboard the Hades." (Reply Krommes, Any) (Posted by Wes) (USS HADES-quarters-ACMO Soo-kara krommes-1307)   After meeting with Captain Straton Soo-kara felt certain she was gonna like life on the Hades. As she came to a stop in front of the door to her quarters she took a deep breath and stepped in through her door. ~Well time to start my new life.~ She thought looking around at the boxes of her memories that she had packed away.   Walking to the first box marked UF memorabilia, she opened up the top of the box to see all the orange and blue items that she had accumulated over her years at the University of Florida. ~I sure do miss those days, but I had to grow up sooner or later. Time for me to do what I was meant to do and save lives and help others.~ She thought as new thoughts started to race through her head as she started to unpack the boxes and put the items in various places.   "Well i think thats about it then." She sighs after unpacking the last of her personal affects. She stood up and straightened up and fixed the hair that had come out of place while unpacking and straightened her uniform. "I think its time I go check in with my CMO."   (USS HADES-Sickbay/Office of CMO-ACMO Soo-kara Krommes-1330)   After finding her way from her quarters to sickbay, Soo-kara took a long deep breath and walked through sickbay, where there were quite a few beds being occupied and other nurses and doctors hard at work busy moving around sickbay, to a door that had CMO Lt. Windsong-Trommashere on it. ~Time to do this.~ She thought as she chimed in and waited.   (Reply Windsong-Trommashere)   She stepped through the door to  a small office with medical books all over it. She stopped in front of the desk that the tall slender woman sat at for the moment. "Lt Windsong-Trommashere I am your new Assistant chief medical officer Ensign(jg) Krommes and I am reporting in for duty ma'am."   (Reply Windsong-Trommashere) (Posted by Sheena Hill) (USS Hades- Sicbay- ACMO - Dr. Wendy Kildare -1331) Wendy hadn't been in sickbay for long. She'd been thinking about the whole Rigellian Fever thing for hours now, and she wanted to do some more research on it. Angeni had one of the most extensive, rare, medical libraries that she'd ever seen, and decided that it she might find what she was looking for in those books, since the computer libraries had given her very little. Since the CMO wasn't around she hoped that she wouldn't mind if Wendy borrowed her office for a while. So she sat among a small pile of books, reading when she heard a voice at the door of the office, "Lt Windsong-Trommashere I am your new Assistant chief medical officer Ensign(jg) Krommes and I am reporting in for duty ma'am." Wendy looked up and smiled. Although they looked similar enough, Angeni's Native American heritage was not easily confused with her own Trill heritage. "Close," Wendy said standing. She came around the desk and offered her hand. "I'm Wendy Kildare, another ACMO. Welcome to the Hades. Angeni's out and about at the moment. Come on in and have a seat." Wendy had never truly been comfortable in the role of CMO on Geneva, but she was a little sad to give it up when moving to the Hades. However, she easily drew from those experiences. She offered the seat in front of the desk and went back to her own seat. "Soooo... Ensign Krommes," Wendy said, "have you got a first name to go along with that?" (reply Krommes) "Well, I'm happy to meet you," she continued, "Where did you study medicine?" (reply Krommes) (posted by Al Muir) (USS HADES-sickbay-ACMO-Dr Soo-kara Krommes-1333) "Soooo... Ensign Krommes," Wendy said, "have you got a first name to go along with that?" “Oh Im sorry.” Soo-kara said a little embarrassed. “I thought Lt Windsong-Trommashere was in. And yes my first name is Soo-kara.” She stated taking the seat in front of Wendy and staring at all the books she already had in front of her. "Well, I'm happy to meet you," she continued, "Where did you study medicine?" “I studied on earth at the University of Florida and then in the Starfleet Academy. I loved being at UF. I am a huge Florida football fan. How bout yourself?” She said looking back in her memory of being at the games and in class. (Reply Wendy) “So what is going on in sickbay?” She asked looking at the girl pulling out a few different books at a time. “Would you like some assistance in whatever it is you are researching?” (Reply Wendy) (Posted by Sheena Hill) (USS Hades-Sickbay-ACMO-Dr. Wendy Kildare -1334) Wendy nodded at hearing about Soo-kara's medical background being Earth bound. She was a bit enthralled with the pink hair and the lime-green skin. Plus, she had absolutely no idea where 'Florida' was, nor how the game of 'football' was played, although she had heard of it at the academy. "Well, I ddi my medical training on the Trill home world," she stated. "My Starfleet training was more in the manner of basic starfleet stuff. You know, all the military and basic science of interstellar travel things. I did really enjoy the xeno-biology classes. But that was a while ago. Most of what I learned, I learned in the field. My specialty was trauma and emergency medicine." "So what is going on in sickbay?" Soo-kara asked. "Would you like some assistance in whatever it is you are researching?" Wendy handed a rather large, and ominous looking book over to the new arrival and smiled. "Well, if you insist. I'm trying to find any information and treatment of Rigellian fever. These books are a bit more of a holistic look of medicine than you might get off the ships computer. Anything you can find would be much appreciated. I have no idea what else is going on. I'm actually off shift right now." (reply Krommes) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Hades-Sickbay-ACMO-Dr. Soo-kara Krommes-1337)   Wendy handed a rather large over to the new doctor and smiled.  "Well, if you insist. I'm trying to find any information and treatment of Rigelian fever. These books are a bit more of a holistic look of medicine than you might get off the ships computer. Anything you can find would be much appreciated. I have no idea what else is going on. I'm actually off shift right now." “Sounds like some fun research time!” Soo-kara replied with a smile taking the book from Wendy. “I actually like researching diseases and everything. Its something about learning new information.”   (Reply Wendy)   Turning pages and looking for information on the Rigelian fever. “Ok I think I found a little something on this fever. It says it’s somewhat similar to the Bubonic Plague which started in Constantinople and spread through over half of Europe. It was pretty bad and killed a lot of people.” Soo-kara said as she read through the medical book. Looking a little confused she looked at Wendy and said inquisitively, “You find anything of use?” She shivered from a slight draft that she felt as she turned the page of the book in front of her.   (Reply Wendy iyw) “Oh it also says that being similar to the Bubonic Plague, it has a faster incubation period. It goes on to say that it damages the glandular system which does a number with the bodies temperatures and basically “cooks” them from the inside out.” She read allowed. “Stop me if any of this will help or you already know please. I don’t want to reiterate what you already know, but it helps me catch up. “There is five different strands of this fever is what it says. Do we know what type of strand it is?” (reply Wendy) (posted by Sheena Hill) (USS Rosenante- ACSO- Personal Quarters/Temp CSO Office- ACSciO Lt(jg) Viskhard - 1412) "Viskhard, would you mind confirming these Metalergy Reports please." Visk turned and accepted the proffered PADD, nodding and beginning to pour over it while listening to the CSO continue speaking. "The resurfacing part of the refit is almost a week behind schedual. I am going to want you and Mister Maddox to crunch the numbers from those reports and the Construction Reports on the metal failure from portions of the ship that have already been resurfaced and see if everything is normal." ~Already sounds like something is not nominal.~ Viskhard nodded as his eyes went a shade of purple that indicated warning to the astute observer. He never stopped reviewing what he had in his hands though, so his eyes were shielded from close scrutiny. “Tomorrow I need to finish putting together our department’s purchasing, and personnel requests. Any ideas?” Visk sat back at that and thought. His voice was laced with a little bit of humour as he replied, "Mister Maddox has been hinting at the woeful inadequacy of the Astrometrics scanners. Not having had a chance to see them, I can't confirm this - however it bodes possible need. We should probably also look at getting the newer tricorders - the quota is barely made and a few extra terraquads of scanning ability could mean that much faster of an analysis during a crisis." (reply Tamblyn) "I don't suppose we could gain another ACSciO in short order? Or at least another junior science officer?" Visk was cautiously hopeful - though he really knew there would be little chance of that happening. (reply Tamblyn) Visk nodded again, "I'll look into the metallurgy difficulties myself. I personally am not keen on being blown into space while in the lab." Visk's cheeks puffed a bit at the thought, but then he chuckled. (reply Tamblyn) (posted by Lori) (USS Hades - Bridge - aFO- Lt. Commander Bohb- 1520) Bohb was about to leave the bridge when Ops officer called back to him. "Commander, there's an incoming message from the station. It's Captain Nelson." Bohb froze, then turned back to main viewer. He moved back to the command chair and sat down. "Put it through," he said. Nelsons bearded face appeared on the view screen. He looked quite grim and serious. Then he nodded and spoke. =^=Nelson to the Hades, this is Captain Nelson.=^= "Yes Captain," Bohb replied, "what can I do for you" Nelson looked at the simioid talking to him, then nodded, =^=Ah, Lt. Commander Bohb, yes... well, I understand one of your crew members collapsed, in my Security Offices no less. Is he alright?=^= "That remains to be determined," Bohb stated. "Our physicians are still working on Mr. Stolev's condition as we speak. Is there anything you or any of your people who were there could do to shed any light on the situation?" =^=Unfortunately not. I have yet to speak with Lt. Frie, personally. But rest assured that I will launch a thorough investigation, if Frie has not done so already. He's quite good. A more than adequate replacement for Lt. Commander Stevens. If there's something to find, he'll find it.=^= Bohb's eyebrows gathered together in the middle of his forehead. "Indeed. Have you heard form our man, Ensign Nicolae" =^=Yes, I heard that he'd come back with the guest. No, however, he is on his way to my office now. Shall I have him contact you when he arrives?=^= Bohb shook his head. "No, the captain has put the ship into a lock down, so he'll have to impose on your hospitality once again." =^=Not a problem. Let me know if there's anything that we can do further.=^= "Thank you Captain Nelson, I will keep you informed. Hades out." The screen switched back to it's view of the station, and Bohb sat and looked at it for a while. Finally he said, "That is one very strange man, even for a human." Then he turned and looked at the bridge crew. "I'll be in sickbay." With that he headed for the turbolift. (reply any on the bridge) (posted by Al Muir)  (DS15 – Trader’s floor - ACSO Curtis Montoya -1420) Curtis frowned as he ambled around near the dock where the Hades was moored. Everything about its presence was strange, one or two of the engineering officers from DS15 had gone aboard, but had not yet got off. Not many of the officers and none of the crew from the Hades had alighted either, making no effort to take the opportunity for extra shore leave. It all seemed far too quiet. He would report his thoughts, but decided against it, as no-one up the chain of command would listen to his half-baked ideas. He wasn’t one of the so called ‘inner sanctum’ the chosen few that had the captain’s ear. All of the department heads, and most of the assistants, probably only discounting himself, where in the position of being one of the captain’s ‘blue-eyed-boys and girls’ his chosen few that from whom he took all counsel, and handed all but the most menial of tasks. He sighed, watching people come and go about their business, some, like him, almost without particular destination in mind, others, clearly having an agenda, and making a beeline for certain traders, with whom they clearly had some familiarity. That brought back to mind something from earlier. A tall, attractive officer from the Hades had shown an interest in one stall in particular, she’d worn the teal of either science or medical, and after a few minutes wondering had settled on one stall in particular, a seller of trinkets manned by another tall, dark haired human. There was something intangible about the conversation that they had had. The trader had supplied the officer with the usual sales banter, and conversation had gotten around to children. There was something…something about their conversation that had bothered him at the time, and it still nudged his mind by being somehow…wrong He ran what he remembered of the conversation through his mind, aware that he was far from the most intelligent of officers on DS15. ~Something~ ~They were talking about children~ ~A daughter~ ~The Lieutenant knew that the trader had a daughter~ ~How the hell?~ “She knew her.” “She already bloody knew her.” The last two sentences were spoken aloud, perhaps without him realising that he’d said it. People moved around him as he stood still, his body turning toward the stall that the tall, dark haired female trader still occupied. He strode over, his mind reeling from all kinds of random thoughts, upon reaching the stall he made no pretence about being there, launching straight into confrontation. “How do you know the Lieutenant that you gave the bangle to?” The woman didn’t react, pulling herself up to her full height, some nine inches taller than Montoya’s 5’5’’. “Excuse me?” she raised an eyebrow, completely unafraid of him. “She knew that you had a daughter, how?” The woman sighed, and laughed, “she guessed that I had a daughter, she would have guessed from what I said that I had a child, only a parent understands the lack of sleep and boundless love. From there it would have been a 50/50 chance that she got it right. Since we had been talking about daughters it’s understandable how she picked that. Easy enough, especially given the obvious intelligence of the officer. I wonder if you’d have been as perceptive Lieutenant.” She was needling him, goading him of course, and she knew he knew it. Trouble was of course that she was entirely correct, he wouldn’t have made the same connections, in his own mind in the same circumstances he wouldn’t have realised that the trader spoke from experience, rather than banter, that was clear from the results of this conversation now. Had the trader been lying, had she already have known the mysterious Lieutenant from the Hades, he would have realised it immediately. “Fair enough” he spoke gently, the wind taken out of his sails some. “makes sense, you understand how I misunderstood though.” “Of course.” She smiled, a gentle warm smile. “I hope that you don’t mind me asking, why did you want to know? I know she won’t have done anything, because you’re not station security, you’re wearing teal, which means you’re a medic or scientist, the same as she was. An admirer perhaps, following her, picking up enough courage to ask her out?” Montoya smiled, a self-mocking smile “something like that, can’t do to hurt. My apologies ma’am, carry on please.” She nodded in acceptance of the apology, and turned away, speaking to another customer who’d approached, but Montoya was already out of earshot, making his way back to the dock. (Reply none, any) (Posted by Mark) (USS Hades, Main Engineering, CEO Lieutenant Darla Wright, 1438)   Peter nodded shortly as he scanned the PADD, "Why not start at the top and work our way down? A section by section look will take a little time, but with you nearby I'm sure we'll be done fairly quickly."   Darla nodded. "That seems like a good idea to me. We would be much more thorough here if we did it that way at the least. I know I'd like to get everything repaired as soon as possible. After all, I'm lucky the captain isn't wearing my guts for garters over this mess."   "Lead the way Lieutenant." The station ACEO replied with a grin, and Darla realized that there would be plenty of opportunity to discuss a great many things.   (USS Hades, Sickbay, ATAC Tallac Dragovar, 15:14)   Dragovar nodded to the captain and crossed the sickbay to the 2 security personnel that entered the sickbay.   “Hi Guys.” Draogvar shook the hands of both men. “Tallac Dragovar”   “I’m Eddie Scarlett, this is Giuseppe Di Santos. Welcome on board Sir” The smaller of the two men replied.   “I want you two guys on the door to sickbay. No-one is to enter without express permission of either myself, Captain Straton or the XO.” Dragovar briefed the two men. “Medical personnel due to be on duty are listed on this padd.” He handed Scarlett the Padd. “Confirm they are on duty, then they may be admitted after checking with me.”   The two men nodded silently as they absorbed the information. “Understood Ensign.” Di Santos replied. “You can rely on us.” He craned his neck, trying to see what was the cause of the fuss.   “This is the Captains husband in there, that is all you need to know. Gentlemen, your vigilance is critical here. Any questions or doubts about anyone, refuse entry and call me or the XO.”   The 2 men nodded solemnly again and turned, exiting the door and took up their post, flanking the entrance to sickbay.   Dragovar stood at the door to the isolation chamber and settled for the long shift of watching.   (Reply Any) (Posted by Tim) (USS Hades- Sickbay- Security Officer- CPO Guiseppe Di Santos- 1515) Joe and Eddie had both answered the call for a security team and arrived at sickbay looking for the CO. Before they could do anything else an ensign that neither of them had seen before stepped over to them and introduced himself. "Hi guys, Tallac Dragovar.” Joe looked over at Eddie and shrugged his shoulders. He'd never been addressed so informally by a commissioned officer before. ~Guys?~ However it was Eddie that replied. His voice sounded a bit uncertain, as if he wasn't sure how to take this new guy. "I'm Eddie Scarlett, this is Giuseppe Di Santos," Eddie introduced them. "Welcome on board, sir.” Joe nodded, in recognition of his introduction. "Sir," he simply added, trying to let the Ensign know that he was an officer, and that Joe and Eddie were non-coms. Then this Ensign Dragovar continued, issuing orders, which took both of the security men by surprise. After all, they had no idea that he was in charge of anything more than guarding the head. "I want you two guys on the door to sickbay. No-one is to enter without express permission of either myself, Captain Straton or the XO." Joe was about to ask about medical personnel who were supposed to be there when Dragovar went on, "Medical personnel due to be on duty are listed on this padd." ~Well that was handy. Wonder when he got that?~ He handed Scarlett the Padd. "Confirm they are on duty, then they may be admitted after checking with me." Eddie was about to ask how Dragovar managed to be in command of this situation, but then thought better of it. Officers were an odd breed, as it was. Joe had been of the sound mind that one had to have a piece of your brain removed to made an officer. So he nodded and Eddie followed suit. "Understood Ensign," Joe said. "You can rely on us." He looked around at the scene trying to figure out what was going on. It seemed that Dragovar felt it necessary to fill them in. "This is the Captains husband in there, that is all you need to know. Gentlemen, your vigilance is critical here. Any questions or doubts about anyone, refuse entry and call me or the XO." ~XO? Do we have an XO? What if the FO wants in?~ Joe kept his thoughts to himself. He and Eddie stepped out of the sickbay, each taking a post on either side of the door. (USS Hades- Outside Sickbay- Security Officer- CPO Guiseppe Di Santos- 1518) Once the door was closed and Joe was certain that they could not be heard he turned to Eddie. "Was that a little weird to you?" he asked. Eddie nodded, "Just a little. I haven't been called a 'guy' by an officer... ever. And what about that whole XO thing. Do think Commander Bohb has changed his title?" Joe shook his head, "I doubt it. He's not that type, and he would have sent out a memo." Eddie nodded, "True. Do you think things are getting stranger around here Joe?" "Stranger by the minute, my friend," Guiseppe replied, "stranger by the minute. What do we do if someone tries to come in who is actually injured?" Eddie shrugged his shoulders, "Well, as long as the Ensign is in there, he can take responsibility for that." Theirs was not to reason why. So they stood their post, prepared to harass any who dared to enter. (reply none) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Hades- Sicbay- ACMO Hawkeye Dolphine-1525) Looks like Mr. Stolev caught something while aboard DS15. It's attacking his brain at this point. He's also displaying signs of Cushings' Triad as well. I'm starting to get very concerned. I'm afraid to attack the Triad because if I do, it could affect whatever is in his brain. What do you think Hawk?" "I agree with you. It sounds and presents as cushings triad with the exception of the malignancy in the brain wave pattern. That being said if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck..." Hawkeye said. "The question is now two fold. One will the typical treatments work or do we need to develop a stronger treatment. And two what caused this? Something about this etiology doesn't feel quite right. Angeni peeled back Sashas' eyelids, flicking a penlight over his pupils. They reacted sluggishly, as if they had no real reason to do as such, but they knew they had to. His skin was pale and lackluster, yet it was hot to the touch. It was obvious the hypothalamus was affected as well. "I have to agree with you, Hawk. All of the primal systems are affected; cerebellum, hypothalamus, pituitary...Cushings shuts the system down for the count. This is something more extreme than this. I haven't seen any posturing or seizures yet, but I'm sure it's going to happen. I need your opinion. Should we start with mechanical treatments then move to medicine, or should we go the other way. I want to go slow on this." Hawkeye pondered for a minute. He looked over the PADD that had the current blood cultre results, and sighed heavily. ~I have to wonder if this is some sort of systemic infection that migrated up into the hypothalamus. But why the tirad reactions?~Hawkeye thought to himself. “Well, we could start him on borad spectrum antibiotics, a fever reducer at least for now. See if we cant at least slow down the course of this infection, until we have a better idea as to whats going on." Hawkeye said to Angeni. (reply Angeni) (Posted by Ben) (USS Hades- Sicbay- ACMO - Dr. Wendy Kildare -1527) Wendy had been alerted automatically, when there had been a report of the ship being locked down. She made record time in getting dressed and making it to sickbay. She watched at what was happening with the captain's husband. It seemed that he had gone into an inexplicable coma state. She wandered around the outskirts of the scene, watching carefully. Then she was looking at the others, watching the Angeni and Hawkeye work. Wendy turned her attention to Straton. She could only imagine what the CO was going through. The look on her face said quite a bit. Even the stoic Captain Eva Straton could not keep all of the concern from her face. But there was more than that. It was almost a look of... being lost. She moved over to the captain and put a hand out to touch Straton's arm. Wendy's own face showed her concern, but not for Aleksander Stolev, but for Captain Straton. "Captain?" she said, almost asking a question. There was no reply. "Captain Straton, are you all right?" Still there was no response. It was as though Straton could not take her attention off of her husband... . ~What the hell is she doing?~ Then Wendy turned her attention back to the biobed with Stolev on it. She watched as Stolev's life signs fluctated. The harder that Eva seemed to stare at Sasha, the more his life signs fluctuated. It was as though she were trying to manipulate his life functions telepathically... but it wasn't working in a positive manner. "Captain!" Wendy began to speak louder. She turned to face her CO. "Captain Straton, stop it. You're killing him." There was still no response. Eva had gone deep within herself. Wendy couldn't give up. "Captain, stop!" She raised her hand and brought the back of her hand across her CO's face. (reply Straton) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Hades- Sickbay- CSO/2O Bracken -1530)   Dale had not long heard. Not long heard about emergency transfer of the captain’s husband. She didn’t know what she hoped to achieve by coming down, but she had been out of the loop for a while, and so this was the place to get back into things. Her way was blocked by two security officers. “Sorry Sir, I’m afraid I can’t let you through, orders from one of the Assistant Security Chiefs.” Dale raised one eyebrow, unphased at all at the CPO in front of her. “Chief.” Her voice was calm, reasonable. “Do you know who I am?” “CSO Sir” Dale interrupted him. “and…” “Second Officer Sir.” Dale nodded, “Which means…gentlemen, that when the Tac/Sec chief hands his rosta changes, He hands it to me. Now what do you think I’m going to do?” “Sir?” Dale was enjoying herself. Becoming for the moment her mother’s daughter, this was how she would have handled things here. She edged closer, her voice almost a whisper, but the threat was palpable. “Ensign my mother was a marine. You know what that means?” “Sir?” he spoke again his position weakening. Dale continued. “It means…Chief…that by the age of seven I knew more ways to make your life hell than you can possibly…comprehend. We clear?” The young Ensign gulped, Dale had been whispering practically into his ear. “Sir…Please, my apologies…I was just…” Dale pulled away and drew herself up to her full height then nodded. “I understand. Carry on. Keep me and the command team in the loop of who comes anywhere near.” “Aye Sir” Dale strode into Sickbay, genuinely surprised what she saw, The young dark haired doctor, Dr. Kildare had just slapped the captain. “Doctor. Stand down. What is going on here? Explain.” (Reply Kildare, any) (posted by Mark) (USS Hades- Sicbay- ACMO - Dr. Wendy Kildare -1531) Wendy was surprised that her slap was met with more blankness. Suddenly a voice came up from behind her. She turned her head quickly. "Doctor. Stand down. What is going on here? Explain." It was Dale Bracken, the chief of the science department and the second officer, and he wasn't looking to pleased. However, Wendy didn't have time for any lengthy apologies. "Dale," she began, "it's the captain. Whatever she's doing, it's affecting Sasha. It's killing him. Look! We've got to get her to stop." (reply Bracken) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Hades- Sickbay- CO - Captain Eva Straton -1532) ".... Straton, stop...u're killing him." The voice was far away but recognizable as ACMO Kildare. "Cap...stop!" Then came the backhanded slap across her face. It was completely unnecessary as Eva had received and understood the message. Eva's eyes flicked over onto Dr. Kildare even as she was withdrawing from Sasha' mind. She pulled their link back into the furthest reaches of his mind and then walled it up to protect it against whatever was trying cut her off from her husband. Dale," Dr. Kildare was saying, "it's the captain. Whatever she's doing, it's affecting Sasha. It's killing him. Look! We've got to get her to stop." "I have," Eva said her gaze still locked on Kildare. "Whatever is taking over Sasha's body is attempting to sever our link. I was attacking it directly. Obviously, not a feasible option under the circumstances." She looked back over at Sasha briefly before looking back at Kildare and Bracken. "I want you two to figure out what the hell that thing is inside Sasha and a way to combat it; use whatever resources you need. We have no idea how far they have spread on the star base, or if they've started on the Hades yet. Be careful, as we have no idea what we are up against. Yet." Eva looked back at Sasha, her mind racing with possibilities and what to do next. "Ensign Dragovar," Eva said, looking over at the new ATAC. "I want security patrols increased through out the ship. Be on the look out for anyone doing anything suspicious. Report to me immediately if you discover anything. Go." Eva jerked her head toward the door to Sickbay. "Leave the other two guards in place. If anyone give you static, send them to me." (Reply Dragovar) Eva waited till the new Ensign had left then she stepped up closer to Kildare and Bracken. "If these things are taking over Star Fleet personnel. We don't know who is or is not infected. Who we can or can not trust. I don't think I need to spell it out for you." We’ve a priority one incident, and one that needs everyone in science to cancel whatever research they’re currently undertaking.” She heard one or two grumbles, grumbles that desisted with a raise of one eyebrow. She explained the recent instances, leaving out certain key details, only fully going into what had happened to Sasha. “So that’s where we are. Freeman, you and the rest of the chemists look at things from your angle. Martinson, lead the physicists. We know that Sasha has transported twice today, compare pattern buffers.” “T’lel, take charge over Xenobiology and HEBP, liase fully with Medical, run over DNA sweeps, whatever you can think of. Any questions?” A chorus of shaking heads, minds already on the job. “Good, dismissed.” Dale turned back to Kildare and Straton. “Sciences are on the case, the various sections are looking into DNA sweeps, chemical traces, and the physicists are comparing recent transfer pattern buffers. Clearly, he had no idea of the time crunch that they were under. However, he had to come to the realization that Nicolae had just been amalgamated and he wasn't, completely, able to use his full faculties. There was still a minor battle being waged in the man's mind. He had to take a deep breath before inviting him in again. "Come," he called in response to the chime. The door opened and Nicolae stepped in. Nelson nodded and gestured to the chair. It was just the two of them now. "Mil," he said, "tell me what you've got." (reply Nicolae) (posted by Al Muir) (DS15 - Outside Captain's Office - ATAC - Ensign Mil Nicolae -1627) Mil had just pressed the call button when he heard the Captain welcoming him inside. He held the PADD tight in his hand and walked through the doors. (DS15 - Captain's Office - ATAC - Ensign Mil Nicolae -1628) Mil looked around the office noticing noone he looked at Nelson who waved towards an empty chair. Mil was glad that the Captain seemed to be in a better mood than before, obviously his actions had antaganised the situation before and he wasn't willing to go back to that state. Mil sat and looked at the officer. " Mil, tell me what you've got" Nelson looked at Mil as he spoke. Mil took a deep breath and began. "Its not goo news Sir, there is a condition between a Batazed called Imzadi, it means first. In laymans terms its an empathic link between to telepaths. However, there are cases where an empath and a non empath can share the link. Records show that human isn't able to fully use telepathic abilities but can surly communicate with the host. I'm guessing as with any link Straton can enter Sashas mind and can sense what is going on." (Reply Nelson iyw) Mil took a deep breath again "In short, they are joined, they can communicate between each other and she will feel another presence in his mind." When he had finished Mil pushed the PADD with all the information he could get over to Nelson. "I've downloaded all I could get at my level onto this PADD, there is a case noted between Dianna Troi and William Riker from when he was stationed on Batazed, I'm assuming you could access more information if needed." (Reply Nelson) Mil sat right back into the chair and watched as Nelson contemplated. (Reply Nelson) (Posted by Mat Hodson) (DS15 - Captain's Office - DS15 CO - Captain William Nelson -1629) Nelson listened to Nicolae's report, trying to hide the abject horror from his face. There was a possibility of discovery. This could not be allowed. His mind began working quickly. They had to start making plans for two possible scenarios. They may have to destroy the Hades, with her entire crew. Hopefully they could do this with the ship far enough away. However, they may have to look at the eventuality of destroying the Hades still attached to the station. This would also destroy the station. However, there might be time to save the pods and a handful of the Amalgamated. It would not be the preferred course of action. But the plan could continue, although without those on DS15. The fact that Straton and Stolev were telepathically connected was not good news. It was possible for her to discover something. She might not be able to discover what, but it would be enough to cast suspicion. Perhaps they could just kill Straton. That might be enough. There would be suspicion cast upon DS15, but it might give them time. And if they could gather in the crew of the Hades, then that would be a force to be reckoned with. He took the PADD from Nicolae, as he offered it. There was little on it that he cared to look at. He didn't particularly care about the historical significance of this "Imzadi" phenomenon. What he did care about was if there was anything that they could do about it. Nelson looked at the chronometer on his desk. A joining was not always an exact science. There were some differences. Nicolae was only unconscious for a short time. He wondered when Sasha Stolev would wake up. It would only happen after the spores took control. That would be a battle they hadn't planned on. And he had no idea how that battle would affect Straton. Finally Nelson turned to Nicolae. "Mil, you have to get back on board the Hades, and soon. It is clear that there is only one course of action left available to us, and it's up to you to perform this duty. You have to kill Eva Straton." (reply Nicolae) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Hades, Secondary Computer Core, CEO Lieutenant Darla Wright, 1630)  Word had passed quickly that the ship was on lock down, although the exact reason for that lockdown was not conveyed to them. Darla hadn't inquired, either, especially considering that she was still helping Holland survey the upper computer core. It was a task that they had been working on for some time now, just the two of them, while the majority of the repair teams were still functioning on the lower deck, below them.  She removed another of the data encryption transceiver assemblies and turned to hand it to Holland who was looking at the previous unit that she had pulled. Eion had certainly done a thorough job with his sabotage, and Darla found herself amazed at the amount of damage that she had seen.  Of course, Zzt had found some thin evidence and was still looking into it in some more detail. But he was an enigma, that one- a prodigal genius with abilities well beyond other engineers, and his instincts were right on the money, although Darla really didn't want the Big guy to come to the realization that she had been behind the sabotage at the top tier. He loved the ship and that meant that he'd react badly to any supposition that she'd done anything to it- even if the captain had ordered it to be done. She'd requested that he keep his suspicions to himself and that he come to her with further evidence. At least in this way she was trying to mitigate any blowback from the order.  "So Peter." Darla said, "Since the ship is on lockdown for a while, you and your team are going to need a place to stay for the night, unless the security lock is raised by the captain. Maybe you will have dinner with me tonight, one engineer to another. We can talk about our time in the fleet, talk tech and about our COs. I've never been assigned to work on a starbase or station and I'm guessing judging from your interest in starships that you may not have spent much time aboard ships. I find that interesting. What do you say?"  (reply Holland) Daniel Greene (USS Hades, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Peter Holland, 1631) "So Peter." Darla said, "Since the ship is on lockdown for a while, you and your team are going to need a place to stay for the night, unless the security lock is raised by the captain. I've never been assigned to work on a starbase or station and I'm guessing judging from your interest in starships that you may not have spent much time aboard ships. I find that interesting. What do you say?" Pete sat back, it'd been a while since he'd been on a ship and he was enjoying the tour - especially the parts that weren't normally seen by crew other than the engineers. He flashed his standard grin at the blonde woman as he set down one mangled tranceiver for another. "Well, if we're going to be stuck here I wouldn't mind a decent place to sleep and dinner would be welcome. Maybe you can offer me some advice on getting through to a hard-headed CO." (reply Darla iyw) Pete grunted, "He's not been very amenable to me bringing my family out here and my boys are suffering for it." (reply Darla) Pete tinkered with the transciever in his hands, thinking it might be salvageable, but would take some work to do. There was something funny about the way these pieces were destroyed, but he couldn't put a finger on it. He decided to keep his opinions to himself for the time being - a habit he'd picked up since the senior officers on the station had closed ranks - and use the meal and conversation to see what he could get on his radar. ~Can I trust her?~ "Some chatter on all levels would be good, none of the other engineers on DS15 seem to be chaffing on the station - so they're not usually keen on a conversation with me." He chuckled as he shook his head, "I've been wanting back on a ship since I left the Thunderchild, and that was ages ago." (reply Darla) (posted by Lori) (DS15 - Captain's Office - ATAC – Ensign Mil Nicolea -1632) Mil watched as Nelson read his report, however the Captain didn’t seem too interested in it after Mil had finished talking. He looked like a dog with a bone, pulling away at the layers until it got to the centre. If Nelson had been a machine Mil would have sworn he could of seen smoke coming out. Mil suppressed an inward grin, however, he maintained a stern face as the officer put the PADD down. "Mil, you have to get back on board the Hades, and soon. It is clear that there is only one course of action left available to us, and it's up to you to perform this duty. You have to kill Eva Straton." Nelson finished talking and looked at the Ensign. The words shot through Mil pulling his lips down sending him spiraling back into an inward battle. ~Murder? To progress?~ Mil fought his falling jaw and thought about the situation. It seemed the only logical resolution to the situation. They needed to continue with their mission, Eva would be standing in their way, she could blow everything and Nelson was right, this was the only way to progress. Mil leaned forward “I will do my duty.” He held a stern face “I will need a list of any Amalgamated crew members on the Hades. I will operate alone, but just incase something goes wrong.” Mil watched Nelson. (Reply Nelson) “For progress!” Mil turned and left the office through the side door. (USS Hades, Secondary Computer Core, CEO Lieutenant Darla Wright, 1634) "Well, if we're going to be stuck here I wouldn't mind a decent place to sleep and dinner would be welcome. Maybe you can offer me some advice on getting through to a hard-headed CO." Darla shrugged, "They're all a bit different, what sort of problems are you having with him?" Pete grunted, "He's not been very amenable to me bringing my family out here and my boys are suffering for it." "That's odd. I think there are some regulations actually preventing that. Let me look into it and I'll bring the data tonight at dinner. We'll knock off here at 1700, so I can arrange to get you and your people assigned quarters, then you can join me at 1800 at Ten Forward. We can talk about anything you'd like." "Some chatter on all levels would be good, none of the other engineers on DS15 seem to be chaffing on the station - so they're not usually keen on a conversation with me." He chuckled as he shook his head, "I've been wanting back on a ship since I left the Thunderchild, and that was ages ago." "Sounds like a common enough problem. I'm intrigued and would like to hear more. I've certainly had my fair share of Starbase politics. And with the situation concerning the destruction of the runabout, I'm a little surprised that there isn't more information dissemination taking place amongst the senior staff." ~Interesting.~ Darla though, ~I wonder if I can trust him?~ (reply Holland) Daniel Greene (USS Hades, Secondary Computer Core, ACEO Lieutenant Peter Holland, 1635) "Sounds like a common enough problem. I'm intrigued and would like to hear more. I've certainly had my fair share of Starbase politics. And with the situation concerning the destruction of the runabout, I'm a little surprised that there isn't more information dissemination taking place amongst the senior staff." Pete grunted non-commitally, not wanting to cast dishonour on his CO prematurely, but he too wanted to know why there was now such a tight ring around the command deck. "Let's just say that communication from the Command team is not as frequent as it should be, and anything that's not directly related to the running of the station is either denied or ignored." Peter turned his attention to the equipment in his hands, taking note again of a near pattern that wasn't quite there. ~Maybe I'm getting paranoid.~ (reply Wright) "Thank you for finding quarters for my people, Lieutenant. I'm glad that courtesy hasn't been lost on the Hades." Peter found it extremely distasteful that he was even thinking of voicing his concerns to someone outside Station Crew, but like his dreams of Starship duty the subject received a deaf ear from any DS15 crew. (reply Wright) He shoved the lesser of the damaged pieces aside while grabbing the PADD to check off the replacement needed. He wanted to change the subject until he could be more off the record, so he went after something fairly simple. "I hope your Ten Forward has good grub." (DS15 - Replomat- ATAC – Ensign Mil Nicolea -1650) Mil walked into the crowded room. He walked over to the replicator and commanded for a white Coffee, picking up the drink he sat down at a Vicente table and started drinking. ~Come on Mil, think...it cant be that hard, after all she is only Human~ Mil must have been looking a sight as a young Bajoran walked over to him and stood beside the table. "May I have your cup sir?" She asked. Mil looked at her up and down. Nothing special but she had a slight twinkle in her eye. "No its ok, I'll clear it away myself" Mil replied not taking his eyes off her. She motioned and walked away, Mil watched as she left ~STOP, get back to work, you will have plenty of time for that.~ He took one final sip and walked over to the disposal area. He left the room and headed to the Libray. (DS15 - Libary- ATAC – Ensign Mil Nicolea -1700) Mil walked in and accessed the terminal he had been using previously. "Computer, why is the Hades in spacedock?" "Secondary computer core repairs" came the reply. Mil sighed hoping it was somthing worse that would allow him to use to his advantage.
