It was remarkbale just how wonderful the universe was. He nodded politely at the two officers but didn't say anything. Zzt was their senior officer until the captain officially took charge of them. He could do the growling. "What is the ratio on the Hades of humanoids to non-humanoids?" Yanek looked over at the Romulan. They were slowly making their way towards the turbolifts, to meet their CO. The question was a good one. Relin shifted his gaze from the ensign to the Horta. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Corridor out side Shuttle Bay, Lt. Commander Zzt, 0935) "What is the ratio on the Hades of humanoids to non-humanoids?"Ensign T'sar asked as the entered the corridor and turned toward the nearest turbolift. Zzt shrugged his massive shoulders as they entered the turbolift as cramped as it might have been with the massive Gerratlian. "Deck Two," Zzt said, as the Turbo lift doors shut. As the lift started toward it destination, Zzt tried his best to answer the question. "Zzt not entirely sure. Been while since Zzt on board. Zzt know there a few non-humanoids, but Zzt think most crew humanoids. May have changed since last Zzt on board though have check crew roster for latest crew ratio." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Deck Two, Lt. Commander Zzt, 0936) As the lift doors opened, Zzt exited first. He wiggled his claws merrily at some passing crewmen as he lead the way toward the First Officers Office. "You got you orders right?" Zzt asked, holding up the PADD with his own orders on it. "Zzt sure First Officer want see them. Make sure you got ready before going in. No want make bad first impression with First Officer." He smiled baring his fangs once more as they came to a stop outside of the FO's office. Zzt turned back toward the door and pressed the door buzzer and waited. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, FO's Office, FO Commander Straton & ATT Lt. Commander Zzt, 0938) Eva was seated behind her desk awaiting the arrival of the new crew members that had arrived on the shuttle when her door buzzer sounded. ~It's about time.~ She thought as she set down her drink and deactivated her computer terminal. "Enter," She snapped tersely, waiting to see who would enter first. She frowned when she saw the large Gerratlian walk through the doorway and up to her desk. She knew Zzt from his time on board the Boudicca, and though she had never had to deal with him directly, knew he could be quite a handful. Zzt walked into the office and walked up to the First Officer's desk and came to attention as he announced his presence. "Lt. Commander Zzt reporting for duty as Advanced Theoretical Technologies Officer as ordered," He said, offering his PADD toward the First Officer, not really seeing who it was sitting behind the desk as he was too busy staring at the wall. Eva's frown deepened at the Gerratlian sloppy attention stance. His paws still placed at shoulder width apart and not together like they should have been. He also seemed to be slumping forward. She snapped the PADD from his paw, looked it over briefly before putting it on her desk. "You call that standing at attention?" She asked harshly. "Huh?" Zzt asked puzzled finally looking down. His eyes widened as he saw just who was sitting behind the desk. His nose confirming what his eyes told him as he sniffed in the First Officers scent a second later. ~Oh, by the Great Mother!~ "Uh, hi. How you? Zzt not know you on Hades. You bring cubs or leave them with Commander Steeloff?" Zzt continued desperately trying to change the subject. "My children's whereabouts are none of your concern Lt. Commander," Eva said coldly staring at the large officer remembering him running rampant through the Boudicca's 10 Forward with Captain Rivers tucked neatly in the crook of one arm while running panicked about the room convinced Captain Rivers was going into labor, but yet unable to find the door. She shook her head. She would deal with him latter. There were still two other officers waiting to report in and she didn't have time right now to have a battle of wills with this over grown clod. She took the PADD from her desk and looked it over once more confirming the command codes on it before entering the Lt. Commander into the ships computer as an active member of the crew and granting him the necessary privileges of his rank and position. "Commander," She said, turning her attention back to Zzt. "We recently acquired some space debris that needs to be thoroughly examined. I need you to coordinate with CEO Lt Wright and CSO Lt Haynes. They will be able to fully brief you on the state of their investigation. And I do NOT want to hear of you hugging or licking anyone Commander, is that clear?" Zzt blinked, confused for a few seconds before dumbly nodding his head. ~What wrong with a friendly hug?~ he thought "Dismissed," Eva said, "On your way out send in the next officer to report in." Zzt nodded, turned and left to find the CEO and CSO. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, FO's Office, FO Commander Straton & Engisn (jg) T'sar 0943) As the hulking Zzt exited the commander's office, T'sar thought he detected some shame on the bear-creature's face. Was the commander a hard sort, he wondered? T'sar straightened his uniform. He would go before the Cardassian. "Yanek, Sir," he nodded to each, "I will-" he paused, trying to remember the Terran phrase, "I will 'see you around,' I hope," he finished, sounding more than a little awkward as he smiled sheepishly. Stepping forward, he pressed the entry chime, and, when prompted, stepped within. His first move was to assume his traditional stance, but quickly stopped himself and snapped to the Federation attention, rather than Romulan. ~Curses!~ he berated himself, ~You are no longer on Romulus. When will you adjust to Federation life?~ He saluted the commander, trying to keep his smirk off his face, out of respect. "Ensign T'sar reporting for duty and assignment, sir," he said, holding out the PADD he'd been given. T'sar stewed nervously. He had no idea what his assignment would be, but hoped it involved the engineering section. Perhaps a computer station, or deflector control; how he longed to be allowed to work with such technology! He anxiously awaited his posting, trying to keep his expression blank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, FO's Office, FO Commander Straton, 0944) Eva watched the Romulan closely as he walked into the room and up to her desk She didn't miss his fist start to move toward his chest before he snapped to attention and held out a PADD. "Ensign T'sar reporting for duty and assignment, sir," he said. Eva took the PADD her eyes locked on the Romulan in front of her. It only took a second for the computer to decrypt the orders on the PADD after she entered her command code and pressed her thumb to the PADD's scanner. She quickly read over the PADD never taking her eyes completely off the Romulan. Keeping an eye on him out of the corner of her eye. "Romulan exchange officer eh?" she said, setting the PADD down on her desk and turning her full attention back to the officer standing in front of her. ~Well they certainly didn't waste any time did they. Maybe it was in the recent treaty, not like I read it.~ She thought as she sized up the Romulan in front of her through narrowed eyes like he was a raw recruit. "Let me make this perfectly clear, Ensign. While you are on board this ship you will be expected to adhere to *every* rule, regulation, and Directive of Star Fleet. You *will* obey the orders of your superior officers and you *will* respect the chain of command. Do I make my self clear?" (Reply T'Sar) "It seems you have been assigned as Assistant Chief Engineering Officer," Eva continued, not entirely convinced. She distrusted Romulans from too many past experiences, but she would give this one a chance to prove himself; one way or the other. "Report to the CEO Lt. Wright, she could probably use an extra set of hands right now. She will give you your duty assignment. If there are no questions, you are dismissed Ensign." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, FO's Office, ACEO Ensign (jg) T'sar, 0945) "Romulan exchange officer, eh?" She asked, seeming incredulous more than anything--not exactly the reaction T'sar had hoped for. She continued, "Let me make this perfectly clear, Ensign. While you are on board this ship you will be expected to adhere to *every* rule, regulation, and Directive of Star Fleet. You will* obey the orders of your superior officers and you *will* respect the chain of command. Do I make my self clear?" T'sar saluted--Federation-style, of course--and replied calmly, "Yes, sir. Understood." T'sar sighed inwardly. ~I expected a little distrust, but isn't the Federation renowned for its acceptance and welcome of other races? How am I any less trustworthy than,~ he paused to himself, imagining the right words, ~Than a bear, or a chunk of molten rock?~ he finished, referring to Leiutenant Zzt and Mahrat, if he remembered correctly. "It seems you have been assigned as Assistant Chief Engineering Officer," she said, again incredulously. Despite her demeanor, T'sar brightened at this. "Report to the CEO Lt. Wright, she could probably use an extra set of hands right now. She will give you your duty assignment. If there are no questions, you are dismissed Ensign." T'sar gave an honest smile, and saluted. "Thank you, sir. Good day, Commander Straton." T'sar had to keep himself from running to the nearest turbolift as soon as he stepped out of the commander's office. Each step seemed agonizingly long--how far was Main Engineering? He stepped into a turbolift, and muttered the command to the computer. The lift whirred. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, CEO's Office, aCEO Lieutenant Darla Wright, 0946) "Reports, reports, reports.... Why is it always about reports? When did being an engineer turn into being a bookkeeper?" Darla muttered to herself as she reviewed yet another report. It was early in the day and yet Darla felt as if she had been on duty for at least six hours. She yawned, blocking her mouth with the back of her left hand before reaching over to pick up her coffee cup. The container was deceptively heavy and so Darla, still intent on her report, didn't even notice that it was out of coffee until she raised it to her lips and tried to imbue a bit of the caffeinated beverage. "Oh Damn it all to hell!" she spit, sighed and dropped the PADD with the report onto her desktop. She rose from her seat, and started towards the replicator when she caught sight of something she was not expecting. A Romulan. The man was typical of his species and carried himself with the air of austerity that most Terrans attributed to Romulans. Of all the ship's to see a Romulan officer aboard, Darla supposed that the Hades wasn't an unlikely candidate. After all hadn't they managed to renegotiate the now ratified Treaty of Algeron? Hadn't they managed to save the Praetor's life during an attempted coup? Well, to be honest, other members of the crew had, she'd been regulated to repair detail after the spy had blown a hole in the ship, nearly killing Captain Sash. Still it was a strange feeling having a Romulan on board. Seeing him in Starfleet Gold. It was almost as if there was a feeling inside of him that made her want to stop point at him and scream, 'Romulan Spy!' Of course, she'd never do anything like that, and besides he might be a very good engineer and a likeable person to boot. If nothing else, he had to be more personable that some of the Vulcan Engineers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Outside FO's Office, FO Commander Straton & ASEC Ensign(jg) Robert Walsh, 0947) Robert straightened his uniform, still unused to the change, and readied himself to be assigned. He stood in front of the First Officer's door, and prepared to meet his new FO. He signaled a request for entry. "Enter," Eva said, looking from her desk and watched a tall human enter and walk up to her desk. She watched him out of narrowed eyes. He entered the First Officer's Office, and snapped to attention. "Reporting for duty, sir," Robert said. "Orders," Eva said, holding out her hand while her eyes still moved up and down the Ensign sizing him up like she did every new Ensign. She took the PADD he handed her pressed her thumb against the scanner and entered her command codes to unlock the encrypted orders contained on it. Finally taking her gaze off the Ensign she turned her attention to read the orders. "Ensign Walsh," She said sternly, having found the man's name on the PADD. "It's generally a good idea to state your name and rank when reporting to a superior officer, remember that in the future. I won't warn you again. It appears you have been assigned as Assistant Security Chief. Good, we've been a bit short handed in that department. Report to Lt. Trinin once you have your gear stored in your quarters. He will give you your duty assignments and be your direct superior. If there are no question, you are dismissed." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Main Engineering, ACEO Ensign (jg) T'sar, 0948) T'sar stepped into engineering and looked around. Where was Chief Wright? Eventually he spotted the two pips of a leutenant, and he walked over and saluted. "Chief Engineer Wright?" He asked, by way of introduction, "I am Ensign T'sar, a new Assistant Chief Engineer. I was ordered to report to you for orders, sir," he added, feeling more at ease in the engine room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Hades, Main Engineering, aCEO Lieutenant Darla Wright, 0949) She set her cup down on the desk and stepped out into the main bay. The Romulan Officer, spotted her and headed her way. He walked over and saluted. "Chief Engineer Wright?" He asked, by way of introduction, "I am Ensign T'sar, a new Assistant Chief Engineer. I was ordered to report to you for orders, sir," "Yes, I'm Wright." She replied. "Welcome aboard the Hades." He held her hand out for his PADD. "Your Orders?" (reply T'sar) She too the PADD and reviewed them. He obviously had some experience with Federation Technology, since he'd worked on Several starship's installing cloaking devices. His exact expertise however, seemed to be missing from his files. "Looks like you have a working familiarity with federation technology. How are you on our procedures and protocols?" She asked him. (reply T'sar) Darla nodded. She caught a full look at his unusual violet eyes. She smiled. "Alright then, I'm going to assign you temporarily to Alpha Shift, so that you will be working with Ensign Mac Liam. He will take the time to show you the administrative side of the duties that come along with being the ACEO. You'll also be assigned standard engineering duties as well. I expect you to be at or above minimal proficiency on the Warp Systems by the end of the week." Once I'm satisfied that your at spec, I'll see to it you get an opportunity to work on your specialty... Which seems to not be included in your records. What is your specialty exactly?" (Reply T'sar) Darla nodded again. "Good there are never enough specialists on a starship for my liking." she replied. She pointed across the bay at Mac Liam who was working on a relay. "There's Mac Liam, there. You should introduce yourself and see to it that you are put to work. If there's anything that you have need for, let me know. Again welcome aboard ensign." She started to turn away and then stopped herself. "Oh, one more thing, before I forget. We don't salute on federation Starships. That's only for the marines. Thought you might want to know." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Hades, Outside FO's Office, ASEC Ensign(jg) Robert Walsh, 09:50) Robert was a little startled by the brevity of his new FO, but the woman somehow had managed to instill a bit of the fear of God in him. He turned and quickly began to move down the hall. Hopefully the CSEC was in his office. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Deck 7, Outside CSEC's Office - ASEC Ensign (jg) Robert Walsh, 09:52) Robert quickly strode down the Deck 7 corridor, shaking his head. He didn't know if he was hallucinating or not, but he could have sworn he heard several loud bangs--like someone running into a wall--from Deck 6. ~Probably was nothing. Jeez, bet I'm going crazy.~ Robert signaled on yet another door for the second time today. He was getting a little fidgety, he needed to do something--anything. He wanted to do his job. (reply Trinin) He stepped into the room, and snapped to attention. ~Not makin' the same mistake again~ "Ensign Robert Angelo Walsh reporting, sir! I'm here for assignment." (reply Trinin) Robert listened intently to what the CSEC had to say. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, CSEC Office, CSEC Lieutenant Baylon Trinin, 0953) Reports. Baylon hated reports. It seemed that the thing that he missed the most about being a regular member of the ship's security staff was the free time that one got when they didn't have to write or read reports. He even had reports that told him what reports he needed to read. Baylon sighed then picked up the next PADD that was stacked on his desk. He sighed again then pressed his thumb to the device and entered his command codes. A moment later the PADD displayed a personnel transfer record for a new security officer. Baylon smiled when he saw the ASEC designation next to the man's name. "It's about bloody time." he mumbled, remembering how overwhelmed he's been since running both the Tactical and Security departments as their Chief. "Thank god for ..." he looked at the man's name again and continued, "Ensign Junior Grade Robert Walsh and most assuredly for T'Vof as well." he added her name for good measure. There was a chime at his office door and Baylon glanced up from the PADD. He locked the device, placed the PADD on the desk in front of him and folded his hands on the desk as well. "Enter." he called out. The door slid aside and a tall well muscled individual stepped into the room. His complexion was fair and he had markings that humans commonly referred to as speckles on his face. His hair was a reddish color and so was most likely from a Celtic Heritage. "Ensign Robert Angelo Walsh reporting, sir! I'm here for assignment." he said as he snapped to attention. Baylon looked up at the new officer and smiled. "Have a seat mister Walsh." he said and gestured towards the seat across from him. Baylon waited for the man to sit down before continuing. "Welcome aboard the Hades, Ensign. She's a fine ship. The best in the fleet." (reply Walsh) "I've had a little time to look at your dossier, but personally I could care less about how well you rated in the academy. Out here, test scores don't count for much, practical experience is the key." "You'll need to be rated on the T.H.I.S. before you can take a bridge position without a senior officer present. Those are captain Saleke's standing orders, confirmed by Captain Sash. I suggest that you take the time to familiarize yourself with that system." Baylon suggested. "We're going to assign you to Alpha Shift starting first thing tomorrow morning. Duty Rota's start at 0600 hours. Do not be late, or you'll find yourself having a discussion about punctuality with the First Officer, Commander Straton. If you haven't already met her, which I assume by the way you reported in, you have- then you should take my advice and see to it that you avoid such a conversation." (reply Walsh) "Tomorrow, you'll have your physical fitness rating, your self defense rating and your phaser qualifications. After that you'll have lunch and then you'll work a ship wide patrol to familiarize yourself with the vessel. Your duty shift will end at 1500 hours. The subsequent days, you will be training in shipboard security procedures, and studying for your security certification. I require all my security personnel to maintain a rating score of 95% or above. You will be expected to learn the face and position of every member of this ship's crew. You will also be expected to pull either brig or armory duty once per week to ensure that you are familiar with their particular procedures. I'd also like for you to spend some time on the security station on the bridge." "Now that you know what your immediate duties are to be, you are free to ask any questions or to be dismissed to get yourself settled into your quarters. Do you have any questions?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Deck Six, Corridor, ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie, 10:07 hours) As Kenny and Ali walked down the corridor, they turned to each other in wonder. Angeni had not answered despite the repeat of the COMM message. Ali shrugged, Kenny sighed. He would not be suspired if the Computer was still having trouble. It had been playing up since the attack on the ship. "Computer; Locate Lt. Windsong." The Computer bleeped it's awknolegement, then bleeped in error. "Please restate inquiry." it asked. Both Kenny and Ali sighed in unison. "Computer; Locate Lt. Windsong." Kenny repeated Again, the Computer bleeped in the same way."Please restate inquiry." it said again. "Guess we should just go down to Medical and find her?" sugessted Ali. "Yeah, good idea, Crewperson." Both of them continued to walk down the corridor, hoping to find Angeni at Sickbay, since they were unable to talk to her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Sickbay, CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere 10:09 hours) A loud crash was heard from behind the privacy screen in the back of the bay, followed by muffled explitives. Angeni was trying, with no success, to change out of her uniform. She managed to spill coffee all down the front of her uniform, and with no one to sub in for her for a few minutes, she had taken off her comm badge in her office and went behind the screen to change. With nothing but sterile field around her, she had no place to sit or lean, so she was doing the dance of the one trying to change quietly. Without injuring herself, she managed to change out of her uniform into a clean one when she heard the hiss of the bay doors. Moving from behind the screen, she mussed with her hair for a moment, trying to pull her tresses back up to a more professional appearance. She looked at the two who walked in, and she tried to remember who they were. "Ensign...McKenzie I presume?" (Reply Kenneth) Angeni smiled brightly, then nodded. "Pleasure to meet you. At any rate, I'm guessing this isn't of a medical nature, more of a social thing, so why don't we go into my office where we can talk?" (Reply Kenneth) As they walked in and the doors hissed closed behind them, she smiled brightly. "What can I do for the two of you?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Sickbay, ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie, 10:10 hours) Kenny and Ali walked into Sickbay. He hoped that Angeni was here, since there was still some trouble with the Computer taking on certain tasks, he was not keen on trying to find here in the ship if he had to go looking. Although he could hear something in the CMO office. Sounded like metallic equipment crashing to the floor. Kenny turned to Ali and they nodded. The ACSO walked over to a table. He found what he wanted, a hypo-spray filled with a chemical which would knock a person out cold if injected into their bloodstream. He was not sure what was going on in the CMO Office, but he wanted to prepare for the worse. A few seconds later, Windsong emerged from her Office and Kenny signed, glad that it was nothing serious. "Ensign...McKenzie I presume?" she asked. "Aye." Kenny replied, shaking her hand with his free one. "I do believe this is the second time we have met, the first was for my first physical, I think." The CMO smiled, then nodded. "Pleasure to meet you. At any rate, I'm guessing this isn't of a medical nature, more of a social thing, so why don't we go into my office where we can talk?" Kenny and Ali followed her in. He smiled and shook his head when he realised that it was only her in the office and that there was nothing bad going on in the first place. He knew that whenever something happened, he always expected the worse. It was a trait he picked up from his father. They both took as seat. "What can I do for the two of you?" Angeni asked. "Well." began Kenny. "You may be aware of the alien exoskeleton shells which have been brought aboard?" (Reply Angeni) "I, on behalf of Science, would like to work with Sickbay to investigate and analyse these shells, seeing as they are, or were, attached to a living being once. This would benefit both parties. Medical would be able to gather medical knowledge of any skin or another cells attached to the shells, and Science may be able to understand the environment they came from. With Medical and Science working together, this investigation should be quicker and easier." (Reply Angeni) "Hmm. OK. Now, I believe they are being kept in the morgue, last time I checked. Is this correct?" ======================================================================================================================= (USS Hades - Deck 6 – Physics Lab – CSO, Lt.(jg) Jericho Haynes - 1016) As Jack teetered on the edge of possibilities he heard Lo'ren exclaim, "Jack," her words were unsure as though she were trying to comprehend the enormity of their plight, "I'm getting a power drain... That's not right, is it?" "No." He grated as he watched the power spike settle. "We've got a big problem on our hands." =^= Wright to Physics lab two, shut down your experiments immediately you're back flowing subspace static directly back through the conduits to the core. Acknowledge!=^= Jack grated his teeth at that and debated whether to slap the com and answer but he didn't have time, not did Maraht. His final decision? Wait till he got to a point where he could answer. ~What the hell is going on~ He swore out loud. "The models predicted collapse within 1.8 seconds but it's feeding on the subspace field emitted by the warp drive." His fingers clenched as they hovered over the buttons that would either deliver them or damn them to hell, if the others were out of the lab they might stand a chance. "Both of you get out of the lab NOW and notify Lt. Wright!" He shouted over the groans of the containment unit that was the prime centerpiece of this lab as it fought both the pressure from the containment field and the distortion it contained. He glanced quickly down. "You've got five seconds." (Reply: Maraht, Lo'ren) He had given them all the time he could, he didn't notice whether they had obeyed his order or not, if he delayed any longer the warp drive engines could be irreparably damaged not to mention possibly destroying the ship. His fingers lanced down and hit two cutoffs, one for lab and the other that would completely isolate the containment field circuit. The lights went out cutting off all visibility except the arcing energy swirling on the other side of the transparent aluminum, Jack didn't hesitate but dove to the other side of the console at which he had been working. There was a shriek as a weld on the containment unit blew from the incredible energies of the distortion which were trying to escape it and for a long instant he wondered if he had made a mistake, ~Was there something else I could have done? Have I killed everyone on the ship because I didn't cover all my bases? How was I supposed to know the damn thing would feed directly off the subspace harmonics generated in the warp core?~ A hiss of atmosphere rushing through the sundered metal could mean one of two things, either the pressure built up inside was about to blow completely or... He rolled into as small a ball as he could and covered his ears and face. The sound of the rushing air built for a little more than a second and he pressed his back tightly against the console. Then as quickly as it had built it dropped into silence. He kept his head down for ten more seconds before lifting his face from the crook of his right elbow, all was in darkness. Taking a deep breath and holding it he lifted himself till he could see over the console and was relieved to see ... nothing at all, nothing but blackness. Letting out the breath then in a sigh that was nearly a sob he turned and slid down with his back to the console once more, this time though in relief. ~Damn if it didn't work!~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Hades - Deck 6 – Physics Lab – ATAC Ensign (jg) Lo'ren T'Vof - 1017) The first thought in Lo'ren's head when the call came from Engineering was ~Prophets preserve us.~ The second was ~Move.~ She didn't need Jack's advice to know she was not needed in the room and bolted to the door. More useful outside the room she slapped her comm badge as she ran for the corridor, "Wright, this is Ensign T'Vof, Lieutenants Haynes and Maraht are attempting to contain the unexpected results of our experiment. I think we may need a crack team up here immediately for assesment and clean-up. T'Vof out." (reply Wright iyw) Lo'ren skidded out into the hall, grabbing the open doorway to turn herself and slapped the wall communications system as she let the door go, "Ensign T'Vof to Sickbay, prepare an emergency team and send them to the High Energy Biophysics lab. We may have casualties shortly in the form of Lt. Haynes and Lt. Maraht. Will keep you informed. Out." (reply any in Sickbay) Lo'ren switched the channel again, trying to open a direct link to the lab, "Jack, Maraht! Talk to me." She could only get static and slapped the wall. ~Dammit.~ "Computer, is it possible to get a direct line to Lieutenant Haynes' communicator, or Lieutenant Maraht's?" [Affirmative.] She rolled her eyes frustrated at the literal nature of the computer, "Then do it!" The computer blipped and flashed on the wall panel [Connection confirmed.] "Jack? Maraht? It's Ensign T'Vof, respond please." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- Main Engineering-aCEO- Lieutenant Darla Wright- 1018) =^=Wright, this is Ensign T'Vof, Lieutenants Haynes and Maraht are attempting to contain the unexpected results of our experiment. I think we may need a crack team up here immediately for assessment and clean-up. T'Vof out.=^= Came the reply. "Understood." Darla replied a mere moment after the channel closed. "Mac Liam!" Darla shouted across the bay. "Take a damage control team to the Physics lab on deck six. I don't know what sort of damage you can expect. Just get there yesterday!" (reply Mac Liam) "The resonance seems to be stabilized and is still affecting the dilithium crystals. I think it's creating piezoharmonic resonance inside the crystals which are somehow shifting the plasma coolant into the red spectrum." Someone reported. Darla nodded. then slapped her commbadge surprised that the bridge hadn't already contacted them when the ship dropped out of warp. "Wright to bridge, we've had to take warp core off line. It's on hot standby, but we may need to take it offline completely." She reported. (reply Bridge) "Not exactly certain," she replied, "We've started receiving some sort of subspace harmonic static back flowing from the physics lab on deck six. It's caused us to lose one of our crystals and has created some sort of harmonic subspace resonance in the Dilithium attenuation chamber." (reply Bridge) "The power in the physics lab has failed." someone reported. Darla glanced at the warp core which was still swirling with an angry red malice. She looked down at her console, the source of the subspace static was gone, but somehow the core interference was still propagating and reinforcing itself. She tried to look at the flow models, but the numbers and data made no sense, it was almost as if the waves bouncing around in the warp core were self reinforcing, but somehow were incomplete. It was as if the waves were only partially there. There were peaks but no troughs for the frequencies. To make matters more complicated, the power ratings were rising slowly, but at an exponential rate. In a little over three hours, the core's magnetic constrictors would not be able to generate a field strong enough to contain the energy that was slowly building up like a warp capacitor in the core. When they failed, all that energy would be released very suddenly. "Maybe you'd better come down and look at this yourself, sir." Darla said over her commchannel to the bridge. ~Please~ she finished mentally. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Sickbay- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere - 1019) Angeni was sitting at her desk when a call rang out through the bay. "EnsignT'Vof to Sickbay, prepare an emergency team and send them to the High Energy Biophysics lab. We may have casualties shortly in the form of Lt. Haynes and Lt. Maraht. Will keep you informed. Out." Angeni only heard Emergency Team, High Energy Lab, and casulties. She heard two names, but they didn't register...to her the names didn't matter...much. In truth, she had heard the names, but she shoved her emotions to the back burner. She was in full Doctor mode...she'd have time for the touchy feely later. Before she made it out the door, the team was mobilized and ready to go. Two floating stretchers were loaded down with equipment, and she nodded at one of the medics. "Get me two more of those. There may be two trapped, but Ensign T'Vof is in that area, and if there was someone there who she didn't know about, I don't want to be caught with my pants around my ankles." She picked up her Tactical Medic Kit, and she strapped it to her thigh. The entire bay had mobilized within three minutes. Biobeds were being moved around to the main portion of the bay, computers were being fired up, and tools and medications were being laid out. "Get Maraht's chamber ready to go, please and thank you. If there are any other injuries that come through, wake up the EMH and Dr. Bledsoe." "Dr. Bledsoe is on shore-leave, ma'am..." Angeni pinched the bridge of her nose, "Then deal with the EMH for now, if something serious comes through, you can reach me by comm badge." Without another word, she gestured for the two mobilized emergency teams to follow her. On the way to the Lab, her heart pounded furiously in her chest. Two people she considered to be friends were trapped...somewhere. Part of her wished she wasn't here at the moment, wanting to sink into the floor and dissapear somewhere, but she steeled her nerves, swallowing the ball of fear. She didn't want anyone to see her emotions. She was a Doctor first and foremost; emotions came later. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades, Sickbay, ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie, 10:20) "EnsignT'Vof to Sickbay, prepare an emergency team and send them to the High Energy Biophysics lab. We may have casualties shortly in the form of Lt. Haynes and Lt. Maraht. Will keep you informed. Out." Kenny sat there taking this in, not beliving that another disaster was happing. Then one of the names hit him. Haynes. Jericho Hanyes. His boss. Kenny knew that he had to do somthing, and fast. He made his dicition. he was going to help the medical team if allowed. "Lt." he said, turning to Angeni. "I have some medical experiance. Let me come along. I could be of help." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- Main Engineering- ACEO Ensign (jg) Eoin Mac Liam - 1021) Eoin was monitoring the results of an experiment the science team was undertaking when the results spiked. He knew that this wouldn't be good. However, he didn't have to wait long to realise how right he was. "Mac Liam!" an unmistakable voice shouted across the bay. He looked up at Lt. Wright, almost anticipating what she would say next. "Take a damage control team to the Physics lab on deck six. I don't know what sort of damage you can expect. Just get there yesterday!" "Right on it, ma'am." Before more information could be relayed to him, Eoin was already gathering the emergency supplies. "The resonance seems to be stabilized and is still affecting the dilithium crystals. I think it's creating piezoharmonic resonance inside the crystals which are somehow shifting the plasma coolant into the red spectrum." Someone reported. Eoin slung the kit over his shoulder, and began quickly walking out of Engineering. As he passed by the seperate consoles and workstations, he shouted at the various engineers. "Ballard! Charles! Tiberio! T'Sar! Get your emergency gear. You're with me!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades- High Energy Biophysics Lab- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere- 1022) Angeni reached the Lab, and she rushed to Ensign T'Vof. "Ensign...are you okay? Were you hurt? What happened?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Outside High Energy Biophysics Lab - ATAC Ensign (jg) Lo'ren T'Vof - 1023) Dr. Trommashere rushed over to Lo'ren, with a team trailing behind her - which included Ensign Mackenzie. "Ensign...are you okay? Were you hurt? What happened?" The Doctor was already pulling out a tricorder. "Unexpected results in the Lab and now I can't reach either Lieutenant Haynes or Lt. Maraht." Lo'ren wanted to shove the tricorder away - she was supposed to protect the ship and her crew, not cause the problems. "I'm fine, doc. I ran when Jack told me to run." Lo'ren grumbled. (reply Angeni, any present) "I have no idea what's going on in there now." Lo'ren was frustrated and shoved at the wall panel she was attempting to feed into the Lab systems. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Hades - Outside The High Physics Lab- CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere - 1024) Dr. Maraht. I'm fine, doc. I ran when Jack told me to run." Lo'ren grumbled. Angeni moved the tricorder sensor around the young woman's body, focusing on her head, neck, and back. "Preliminary results look fine, but I'd still like to take you to the Bay and completely check you over, just in case. Besides that, have you gotten in contact with Lt. Haynes and Lt. Maraht? Do you know what's going on in there?" "I have no idea what's going on in there now." "What were they working on? Do you know why it exploded?" She put her hands against the door, trying to feel if it was hot. The door felt no warmer, or colder than the rest of the bulkhead around her. She pounded on the door in rhythm, hoping someone would hear her and tap back. Her next thought was if she could replicate a Halligan Bar...or even a married set; a Halligan Bar and a Flat Head Fire Axe..." Angeni pounded on the door again, calling out, "It's Dr. Trommashere! Can anyone hear me in there?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ end compile
