Stardate:2406.07.01 Mission: Opportunities of Engagements/For our sins, day 5 Stardate: 2406.07.01 (Starbase Geneva - Conference Room - ASC-Ensign Dru tagon- 23:41) Tagon sat and listened to all of the witnesses give testimony to his character and service record. He realized how respected he seemed to be, even liked. He had to hand it to Lt. Wilson. For a man who had just offered to make a deal with the prosecution, he did a great job. It was obvious that he wasn't really ready to give up. Then came the evidence that Captain Rofellian had managed to acquire from the Crytonian government. It was a recording of the treatment of the away team at the hands of Lemssinx. The first scene was of Dr. Mackenzie and Captain Rofellian receiving their implants. Then it showed the use of the implants on Rofellian. Lemssinx threatened the same treatment on the good doctor. Tagon could see Rofellian squirm in his seat at the scene. He also could feel his own shame return at not having fulfilled his duty of protecting his captain. The scene changed. Now it showed Tagon being chained to a wall. He remembered that, but what he did not remember was what had followed. He must somehow have repressed the memories. He soon found out why. Lemssinx had been trying to get information out of the Security Chief. They had been attempting to inject him with something but all efforts to penetrate his thick hide had been fruitless. Finally they had produced a rather nasty looking device that drilled through his flesh. The courtroom gave a group gasp, but the recording of Tagon showed he remained silent. Then a technician injected something directly into the open wound. At this point one of the people in the room made for the door before they began to retch. Lemssinx reinitiated his interrogation. The strain of remaining silent showed on Tagon's usually impassive face. But he continued his stoic silence. In a fit of anger, Lemssinx slapped Tagon across the face as hard as he could. The Colonel instantly regretted that decision as he nursed his injured hand. He then found a metal bar and began to bend it across the Brikars body. There was a time jump. Lemssinx had discovered the effects of the sonic weapons on the Brikar. He had his technicians apply the weapon to certain...intimate areas of Tagon's body. Though he could no longer remain stoic, he still remained silent. Although many in the courtroom cried out in sympathy, he did not utter a sound. The weapon was then turned to other sensitive areas of the Brikarian anatomy. Eventually small drops of blood could be seen at the corner of Tagon's mouth. With the most heroic of effort, he remained silent. The recording ended. Wilson continued with his assessment of the evidence but Dru did not hear a word. Memories of unspoken cries rang through his head. Then memories of cries and weeping. His memories now unlocked, he began to remember other incidences. His mind came to something else. He had been the leader of a Search and Rescue team. There had been a mission in which hundreds of civilians had been held hostage. By the time Tagon's team had found them it had been too late. Most of them had been killed. Women, children, babies, laying in pools of blood. Those who had survived were either injusred seriously or permanently deformed. Then a face came to his mind. It was a face he recognized. It was the face of Commodore Blackford. A much younger Blackford, but it was the Commodore nonetheless. Tagon could not recall if the Commodore had been a victim or a perpetrator, but he had something to do with the incident, tht finally led to Tagon leaving his S & R team. As he looked up to see the Captain's retreating for deliberation, he caught the glimpse Blackford was giving Pitt. Pitt looked a little uncomfortable, like he was waiting for something unpleasant. Then he reached under the table and brought his hand back up. He was being comforted by whatever was there, because he suddenly relaxed. Something was going on here, but Tagon had no idea what. That was when Admiral LaDona arrived. (reply LaDona, anyone at the trial) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.07.01 Mission: Opportunities of Engagements/For our sins, day 5 Stardate: 2406.07.01 (Starbase Geneva - Conference Room - Admiral Robert LoDona- 23:45) Robert paused at the door, yanked down on his uniform, and walked through the door. He had come when asked, not before, he hadn't wanted to taint the process... That had been why he sent Captain Rhia. "Admiral, the Captains are deliberating their verdict right now. I have no idea how long it will take." Robert looked at him, then nodded. He folded his arms behind him, and looked over the room. "Perhaps I can find you a chair Admiral," Pitt offered. Robert waved off the Lieutenant, preferring to be left in peace of the meantime. After a short time, however, his waiting was ended. The Captains and Commodore came out of isolation and back into the Conference room. The look on the Commodore's face was rather interesting, it brought questions to Robert. He started moving in that direction, so he could be close for the verdict, but behind him the Lieutenant said, "Admiral, a moment, if you please." Robert stopped, and turned. His eyebrow perked for a moment, he took another quick look at the Captains, then back at the Lieutenant. The JAG officer, for his part, was standing up. "It has come to our attention that civil disorder has become a problem in the Federation. In fact, you yourself have so nobly stated that in order for there is no possibility for peace while both you and others in the Admiralty are alive. I just want to say, in front of all of these witnesses, that we whole heartedly agree with you on this point." Something was wrong, Roberts battle-honed six-sense was tingling... More like screaming... At him. The Lieutenant was closing the distance, "And so, with that being said I want you to know, that what I do is for the benefit of the federation as a whole. I wish to show my allegiances in this matter to you, right now." The Lieutenant raised his hand, and something glinted in the light. Robert didn't need more then that, he switched the weight on his foot to dive. But as Pitt continued to talk, the Admiral already knew that he had let the JAG officer get to close, there was no way he could survive this attack. He was just managing to dodge when he caught action in the corner of his eye. A bright light flashed, but Robert saw and felt nothing as he fell to the ground and rolled. His reflexes took over, and he continued the roll back up to his knee, just in time to see the prisoner grasping at the JAG Lieutenant. Robert ran the last two seconds back through his mind, and came to the conclusion that Tagon must have knocked off Pitt's aim, Roberts life continued only because of him. Then, Pitt let out a scream, and both of them were blasted apart as the weapon itself disintegrated. Tagon landed not far from the Admiral, his face was a mask of pain. LoDona looked down at his body and immediately saw why; he hadn't deflected the shot at all, he had taken it. "Excuse me Admiral," Tagon managed to get out, "I don't think I'll get to hear my verdict." Tagon was unconscious, a moment later. The Admiral snarled and turned his whole body around, just in time to see Rhia grab Pitt by the throat and throw him to the ground. A born fighter, that was why he had picked her. The Admiral stood, and began to walk over to Pitt. There was so much going on in the room now, he didn't know what all was going on, but he knew where he could start. He stood next to Rhia, who was standing over Pitt, looking down at the injured fellow as though looking at some strange and fascinating type of fungus. "You alright, Sir?" "Alive, Captain. We will proceed from there. Keep your foot on him, for now." Rhia nodded, she had his warriors mentality. She put her foot on the Lieutenant's throat, and pushed down just enough to ensure he wouldn't be going anywhere, even should he recover enough to run. "HOW DARE YOU ATTEMPT TO ARREST ME, LOWELL YOU HAVE NO AUTHORITY!" Robert turned his head and noticed that several people had entered the room. "Commodore until we ascertain what happened, we must place you under protective custody," someone said. "Captain Lowell, might I suggest that we recess the court?" The Captain of Cochrane stood. "What I should have done... Sir! Is scan the room when I had my first doubt and NONE of this would have happen. I will NOT make the same mistake twice." Alexandra gave a look to Captain Rofellian and to Rhia, someone had to take the decision. "Yes... the court is in recess for an hour! I want to be inform, and this incident investigated right now, and this trial to be over with. I think that we agree." "Of course Captain," "Kaitlyn, what is the Ensign's status?" (Reply Mackenzie) The same man that had spoken to Blackford moved over to LoDona, "Admiral LoDona, sir might I offer this security team to escort you back to your vessel you might be in further danger sir," "It would be more prudent Sir!" The Admiral looked around, but before he could answer, the Lieutenant who had been taken from Rhia's custody by some security said, "Commodore, forgive me," The Commodore said nothing, but Robert raised his hand to the Security team, signaling them to ready. "I tried, Commodore," he said, ignoring the cries of his superior, "I did as you asked, but I failed. I am not worthy to be your aide." "Lieutenant you have betrayed your uniform and your oath," was the reply. "No you betrayed us all," Robert looked back and forth, and took a step back so he would be out of a firing line, he wasn't armed nor armored. The Lieutenant broke down, and started sobbing. "I tried to do as you asked, but I couldn't. I just wasn't good enough." Without any other warning, the Commodore pulled a phaser and shot Pitt. Then, ran. "STOP THE COMMODORE!" Captain Lowell screamed, and several security forces broke away and started to give chase. She turned to the Admiral, a look on her face that suggested his words were needed. And, she was right. He tapped his badge, and fairly snarled "LoDona to all Geneva security forces, Find and arrest Commodore Blackwell, on the double and on my authority." (reply: any) He turned to the Captain of Geneva, "Lock down all transporters, send security teams to every shuttlebay. Now." LoDona looked at Rhia, and nodded his head. She tapped her badge, and began talking quietly. The Admiral looked back, "the Commodore does not escape, I have words to have with him." (reply: Any in the room) (posted by Trout) Stardate:2406.07.01 Mission: Opportunities of Engagements/For our sins, day 5 Stardate: 2406.07.01 (Starbase Geneva - Conference Room - JAG Officer Lt. Pitt - 23:45) When Admiral LaDona arrived Pitt began to relax. He had to focused for what was about to happen. He looked across the room to Tagon and Wilson. Wilson had done a fairly good job in making Tagon look good, but nothing to take away the facts. But destroying Tagon was a fringe benefit to this assignment. And nowm it didn't look like it was going to happen the way he wanted. Conduct unbecoming an officer! Pitt snorted. So much for a lawful frontier. And this all because of one Robert LaDona, Admiral. The man was bringing a close to the UFP that he had grown to admire. Now there was talk of civil war. Already, they had lost allies in the Cobra Fleet. At least nobody knew of that connection, except prhaps LaDona. The secrets the man held in his head, and the loyalties he had managed to forge was seeping wound on the skin of the Fedration. He had to go. The Admiral looked around the room for the captains. Not seeing them he came over to Pitt's tabel and asked for them. "Admiral," Pitt said, his hand going to the weapon under his tunic, "the Captains are deliberating their verdict right now. I have no idea how long it will take." He could do it now. It would have been a simple thig. The man was right there. Just point and shot, and the Admiral's cells would literally seperate from each other. He would simply discorporate. Not a pretty way to die, but it was certain, and even a glancing blow would be fatal, as the process would have a cascading effect. But he had his orders, wait until the verdict came in. The Admiral seemed to be a little irritated by having to wait. "Perhaps I can find you a chair Admiral," Pitt offered. LaDona waved him off, seemingly prefering to pace. The wait seemed interminable, but it really wasn't that long. As the panel returned, Pitt could see the discernable look of dissatisfaction on Blackford's face. It threw Pitt a little. He suddenly tensed. Then he saw LaDona move to the other side of the room. It looked as though his chance for a clean shot was getting away from him. Once on the other side of the room, the accuracy of his weapon was in jeopardy. He really saw no other option than to make his move now. "Admiral," Pitt called, "a moment, if you please." The Admiral stopped in his tracks and glared at the Lt. He looked back at the captains and then back at Pitt. The JAG officer took a deep breath and stood, hlding the weapon closely to his body. "It has come to our attention that civil disorder has become a problem in the Federation. In fact, you yourself have so nobly stated that in order for there is no possibility for peace while both you and others in the Admiralty are alive. I just want to say, in front of all of these witnesses, that we whole heartedly agree with you on this point." He closed the gap on the Admiral. "And so, with that being said I want you to know, that what I do is for the benefit of the federation as a whole. I wish to show my allegiences in this matter to you, right now." He raised his hand and the small weapon glinted in the light. "For the crime of high treason, Admiral LaDona, I hereby sentence you to death." And Pitt pulled the trigger. Pitt had been looking as nervous as Ferengi at a bill collectors convention. As the Admiral moved away from him he goteven more anxious. He got up from his seat and began to address the Admiral. In fact, you yourself have so nobly stated that in order for there is no possibility for peace while both you and others in the Admiralty are alive. I just want to say, in front of all of these witnesses, that we whole heartedly agree with you on this point." Tagon noticed that the JAG officer was holding something small in his hand. He was keeping it close to his body so that it seemed inconspicuous. But the trained eye of the security officer caught a slight gleam that seemed out of place. If he didn't know better, it might be some kind of weapon. "And so, with that being said I want you to know, that what I do is for the benefit of the federation as a whole. I wish to show my allegiences in this matter to you, right now." Then Pitt raised the hand with the item. He pointed it directly at LaDona who looked stunned. The whole room seemed to freeze in a bizarre tableau. The only person moving was Pitt, and now Tagon. "For the crime of high treason, Admiral LaDona, I hereby sentence you to death." And Pitt pulled the trigger. Tagon had already been moving. The manacles that had been holding him simply fell away as he flexed his muscles. Although he didn't move quickly very ofen, the huge Brikar was able to move in a manner that belied his size. But not quick enough to stop the attack. Suddenly Tagon threw himself towards Pitt. His massive body fell between the JAG and the admiral. Pitt's weapon fire struck the Brikar rather than its intended target. Tagon ignored the pain for a moment. He reached up and grabbed hold of Pitts weapon hand and squeezed. Pitt cried out in pain as the his hand was crushed along with the weapon he had been holding. The feedback from the destroyed weapon sent a charge through both of their bodies, throwing Pitt across the room. Tagon looked up at the admiral. LaDona looked back down at Tagon. The Brikar smiled a pained smile. The cellular disruption going through his body right now was excruciating. He clenched his teeth, trying to steel himself to the pain. This he should have seen Pitt was too weak for something like this. He should have realised that Pitt was not up to the task he was too emotional too caring and too human. As he spoke out being dragged away Joseph began to reach for his weapon it was properly best if he killed Pitt now rather than let him give away too many secretes he knew at least four other members. “Commodore, forgive me," he pleaded. Joseph did not reply but looked at him as if he did not know what he was talking about. “Lieutenant you have betrayed your uniform and your oath,” Joseph said something patriotic would possibly go down well.
