NRPG: Do you know how *long* it has been since Ive done a full compile by hand? sheeh, one would think doing nearly 600 of em in my time would have prepared me for an absence. For those of you new to the game, these compiles rae just that... a complelation of the posts written, with timeline errors corrected and such, all listed chronologically. so if you like keeping posts (which I do), then you can keep half a dozen compiles instead of a few hundred emails ;o) This is why we try to keep the position tags clean, and fully marked at all times. It makes my job MUCH easier. This took 2 hours to finish, and Im rather speedy at it. Compliers Notes: Removed NRPG messages, (except for reply tags). corrected slightly for time in a few posts ================= Start of Complile, Part 1 ================= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Mission Stardate 2406.06.15 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Earth, Starfleet Academy, Dr. Domini Alizara's Office, Lt (sg) Dr. Domini Alizara, 2 weeks earlier, 1200) Domini had just returned from teaching the new course of wanna be emergency technicians, and frowned when she saw the message blinking on her terminal. She hit the play button, and sat in shock. She hurriedly erased the message, then looked around her office, not seeing much she wanted to take with her. She picked up a few personal framed photographs and her medical degree and put them in the carri-all she kept in her office closet. She slipped her white lab coat off, and hung it up beside the door. She walked to her quarters, gathered up her personal things, and then walked out, leaving behind most of her belongings. Everything that she needed could be fit into two bags, which she had over her shoulder. She caught the first shuttle to UP, then caught the transport to the Geneva. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Mission Stardate 2406.06.23 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Mars - Ensign Sparek - One Week ago) "Thats it?" asked Sparek. "Thats it" Drummond confirmed. "I know she doesn't look up to much but feel lucky that you even got her." "But it's older than me!" Sparek protested. "It doesn't look like it will get me out of the solar system let alone to Geneva" Drummond shrugged. "The way things are it might not be so easy to get there however you travel." "The way things are?" asked Sparek innocently. "Cut the stupid act, kid" the veteran growled. "You might be fresh out of the academy and as green as hell but you will have heard the rumours. Dark times are coming ensign and who knows where they will take us." "Maybe" said Sparek. "But for the moment all I want to do is get to where I want to go. After that we will see." "Sure, kid" Drummond replied. "Who knows how the dice will roll. Take my advice though and take this shuttle. It might be old but its still around because it gets the job done. Just like me. Wait for a ship and you might never get to Geneva." Sparek nodded. "Okay, old man" the vulcan finally agreed. "I'll trust your judgement." "Trust my judgement?" Drummond whispered. "One last bit of advice ensign. Be careful who you trust because not everyone is who they seem." he paused then shook himself as if to shake off the dark mood he had brought. "Good luck ensign" he said shaking Sparek's hand. "Good luck" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Mission Stardate 2406.06.27 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Steel Talons - Admirals Section, LoDona's Office - LoDona/Grailik - 0800) Robert was leaning back in his chair, looking out the port-hole at the Starbase Geneva, which was in the process of being prepped for a major move. He had no less then ten structural engineers tell him he was crazy, that moving a station in a subspace river was nuts. However, they hadn't turned down the challenge. And beyond Geneva was the source of his current bout of indigestion. The Boudicca, he had to take care of her. The only options open to him, however, were not one's he particularly wanted to take advantage of. The whole situation was damage-control, however, he would have to take what he could get. His door chime went off, causing him to turn. "Come." Grailik entered LoDona's Office and nodded a greeting to his old friend. "Good morning Robert," Grailik said heading over to the replicator and getting himself a mug of hot coffee. Holding the mug firmly in one hand he moved over to the Admiral's desk and took a seat in his customary chair. He took a sip of his coffee and slid a small isolinear chip onto the Admirals desk. "Some 'pictures' from my vacation," Grailik said cryptically before taking another sip of his coffee. "You'll have to decode them manually. Wouldn't want the wrong eyes peeking at my pictures." Robert leaned forward and put his hand over the chip, then leaned his head against his fist. "Hope you enjoyed your vacation." he said. His smile turned wolfish a moment later, "Because I have in mind a job that is far less fun and more... work." Grailik raised an eyebrow, sipping his coffee slowly. "Yes, I had SO much fun on vacation. Guess it's time I got back to work. What do you have in mind?" "Geneva is set to move quickly, our little party has all work in what was Freedom Squadron put on double quick-time." He leaned back, flipped through a few PADDS, then found the one he liked and gave it a toss to the other side of the desk. "Boudicca wasn't supposed to be finished with her repairs for another five months, she only has a skeleton crew and no command staff. I've bumped her up to full staff from reserves and others plucked from various duty stations. She lacks two things, a Commander and XO." He tapped his fingers on the desk, "Commander Sevant is familure with the Boudicca, he served on her as Security Chief, he knows what she is capable of. I require a First Officer for her, you're it unless you can think of a compelling reason why you shouldn't be in the position." He sat forward again, "Ill give you the real reason I want you there, first off. Sevant has had, eh, a few rough months. However, he is the only officer immediately available. I want you to watch him." Grailik took the PADD and looked at it, sipping his coffee as thoughts tumbled through his head. "Few bad months, huh?" He said, scrolling through the PADD before looking back up at his friend. "Why else do you want me on the Boudicca? Surely baby sitting the CO isn't the only reason. Any trained counselor can do that." Robert sat back again. "If he fails, I need someone capable of command in covert situations. The Boudicca's shakedown will include a trial-by-fire of the cloaking device, I want some local Intel of Doenitz's forces. If he cant handle it, any other command officer could find themselves dead when they take over, if they don't know how to handle it." "Ah," Grailik said, nodding, "So a little more Black Ops. You sure do like to keep me busy these days don't you?" Grailik smiled. "I want full access to this Sevant's record, including his medical records and phyc profile. I'll need to know what I'm dealing with, and for now lets make sure Sevant does NOT know I have that kind of access. Could be counter productive." Grailik nodded. "Good. Boudicca is fully operational then? Fully crewed and waiting her Captain only?" "Weellll..." Robert tapped his fingers, "She was rushed, she is functional in theory...but she has bugs to be ironed out and a few things to get working fully." Grailik's eyes narrowed. "Your sending an untested ship on a Intel mission? That's not like you Robert. Your not that sloppy. You are planning on giving us a few days shake down first. Right?" Robert smirked, ever so slightly. "There is no Intel mission, but don't let Sevant know that." He leaned back, "You have a week to get the ship in running order and head off to the quadrant I specify. If there are any unfriendly ships in the area, I will be impressed." He held up a finger, "Its close enough and dangerous enough that it needs an experienced black-bagger, but its not up-close and intimate. Not yet, anyhow." Grailik sipped his coffee in silence for a few moments, troubling thoughts running across his mind. "And your sure this is where you want me? On the Boudicca and not here? An attempt will be made on your life. Count on it. Kill you and this organized resistance will fall apart. He WILL try. Quietly. You need someone to watch your back. Someone you can trust. Again, are you SURE you want me on the Boudicca?" "I will want you back," Robert said. "In the mean time, you can bet I sleep in a BDU. The Boudicca is a Warship, we need all we can get and in short order." Grailik nodded slowly. "Alright. When do you want me to leave?" Robert turned to look at the Boudicca, off in the distance behind Geneva. "Anytime before Sevant arrives," he looked back over, "Perhaps the work crews would work faster with someone riding their rears." Grailik smiled. "I'll be onboard before noon. I'll send you a vid of the bridge." Grailik rose, and downed his coffee in a large gulp. "Anything else?" "Stay alive. She is a tactical ship, she will be on the front lines." Grailik nodded and laughed. "Won't be the first time I've been on the front lines. I'll be back. You just make sure you don't get a knife in the back while I'm gone." Robert nodded, "Ill do my best," he leaned back, "Dismissed Commander, do what you need to do before you transfer." Grailik nodded, turned and left to get his things in order. LoDona watched him exit, then shook his head as he turned back to face the window. "This is one large damned mess." he muttered to himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Mission Stardate 2406.06.29 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Steel Talons, Admiral LoDona's Office, Major Straton/Adm LoDona, 0800) Eva pushed the door buzzer, then tugged her uniform top making sure her uniform was in perfect order. When the door opened in front of her, she marched in coming to a halt precisely in front of the desk and snapped to attention. "Major Straton reporting as ordered SIR!" She said, snapping off a smart salute. Robert looked out the port-hole for a few more moments, hands behind his back, then slowly turned. The bright red hair, non-nonsense expression, militaristic hold of her body while in attention. Ah yes, nothing had changed. "At ease, Major." he said, a small smile touching the corner of his lips. Eva snapped to parade rest, her eyes never leaving the spot in space she was staring at. "It's been a long time, SIR!" she said, after a short pause. Robert shook his head and chuckled, then gestured to a chair, "At ease, Soldier." he said again. "take a chair" He folded his hands behind him again, and watched her for a few moments. "You might have heard, by now, that we are in something of a mess." he said, dryly. Eva relaxed for the first time, taking the offered seat. Getting comfortable, she gave the Admiral her full attention. "Yes, more so than normal by all accounts too," She said, nodding, "Lot of rumors floating around as well. How bad is it?" "Worse then you have heard, most assuredly." he said, taking a seat for himself. "There are a few calling us traitors, that haven't heard the whole story." He leaned back, and tapped his fingers together. "The true traitors, however, are the one selectively handing those stories to the rest of the fleet, and the council. That, however, is of little difference. Some of our own people think the same, I haven't had a chance to release the entire reasoning yet." Eva nodded, "I came across a few believing those stories. Calling you a traitor and worse. When they get out of the infirmary I'll send them your way. What's the plan? You want me and the boys to crack a few skulls at SFHQ for you?" "If we had full access to that area of space right now, gladly." He leaned forward again, "We have a few line ships that will be guarding our boarders, running Intel in various forms. One of those ships has been undergoing refit and has no crew. She will need the best, you qualify." Eva nodding, turning the situation over in her mind. "Which ship and how many Marines? Will this be a straight up fight or hit and run?" "Boudicca, and it might very well degenerate into a strait fight. If we can avoid it, we will." He picked up a PADD, looked at it for a few moments, then offered it out to Eva. "One Company, formed of rouge elements from all over the fleet." Eva took the PADD, looking it over quickly. Her lips pressed into a thin line as she read. "'rouge elements'," she began, "You always told us to know the marines next to us, that familiarly could save all our lives in a fire fight. These marines have never fought together before. Will have to drill them hard and fast to get them into combat shape. I would like to request my own MXO, sir. Someone I know and trust." "You have it." Robert said, "You can pick them from that list, otherwise you may not necessarily get them right away." He leaned back again, "The first mission is a shakedown, a few weeks, you have that long to whip them into shape. I'm afraid we are simply out of time and resources, I can not guarantee you any more time." "We're Marines, sir," Eva said nodding, reading the list of names. "We work best under pressure." She scrolled the list down, snapped her fingers and stabbed the PADD with a finger. "HOOWAH! There he is! Lt. Major Drizzt." She handed the PADD back to LoDona, pointing at the name. "We've served together before. Damn good Marine." "Robert took a look, then noted the name."Ill change his orders from CCE to MXO/CCE then." He looked over at her, "Very well, Major. I have a shuttle waiting to take you, the new Captain takes command shortly. Most of your command is already there." Eva nodded, as she rose from the chair. She snapped to attention and saluted smartly, before turning and heading for the door. "Good Luck," he called out, before she left ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Mission Stardate 2406.06.29 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca, FO's Office, Commander Grailik & Major Straton, 13:30) Grailik sat at his desk working through the mountain of 'paper' work required with launching a new ship. A mug of steaming coffee sat beside his terminal within easy reach, soft relaxing music played quietly from the rooms speakers. A buzz at the door interrupted Grailik in mid-report. Pressing a button, he stopped the music and blanked his terminal screen. "Enter," He said, lifting his mug and taking a sip. Eva strode into the room, and snapped to attention in front of the desk. "Major Straton reporting as MCO," she said, handing Grailik the PADD containing her orders. Grailik took the PADD, setting his coffee back on the desk. He took a few seconds to scan the PADD quickly. "At ease Major," He said, smiling up at Eva. "Good to see you again. Take a seat." Eva scowled, but said nothing as she sat down. "I see you still don't like me," Grailik said casually, his eyes going from Eva to the PADD. Eva's scowl deepened. "Your as unreadable as ever," Eva said honestly, "It's unnatural. I can't even sense any emotions from you." Grailik shrugged. "Does that mean you can't trust me?" "It means I don't trust you," Eva said. "I like your honesty Eva," Grailik said, his smile widening. "However, Robert trusts me. That should be enough for you." "I don't have much choice in the matter, now do I?" "No," Grailik said taking another sip of his coffee, "you don't. But, if you ever want to discuss those paranoid feelings, my door is always open." Eva snorted as Grailik continued, "You know what bothers me though?" "What's that?" Eva asked. "The fact that Robert put both of us on this ship. When he arranged your transfer back under his direct command I had assumed he would keep you on Geneva. Close to him. Now days he needs to know that he can trust the officers around him. However, he puts you here with me. On this ship with twice the normal complement of marines for a ship of this size. Know what that tells me?" "That we'll be seeing a lot of action," Eva replied with out hesitation. "Exactly. Robert has plans for this ship and us. We'll need to make sure we are ready for anything at anytime." "I always am," Eva said, a wicked smile crossing her face. "When does the Captain arrive?" Grailik smiled pleasantly. "I'm sure you are. The CO, a Captain Sevant, should be arriving in a couple days. I'll let him know that you want to see him when he arrives." Eva nodded, rising from her chair. "If there is nothing else, I will go get things in order on the Marine deck." "By all means," Grailik said, "I still have a ton of reports to get through. Good day, Eva." Without another word, Eva turned and exited the room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Runabout Parabola - Ops - Capt Caladryll Sevant - 0910) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a single perfect moment, one that he had never expected he would ever experience. It was a moment unlike any other, pristine as the runabout decelerated in it's approach to Geneva and what lay beyond. It was a moment in his history that he should have cherished forever. He would have, too, had circumstances been different. Sevant leaned forward and looked at his new command with eyes infinitely more experienced then when he had first laid eyes on her so many years ago at Starbase 968, practically on the other side of the Federation. Last time he had seen her, he had been a lieutenant and his wife and children were still alive. Now he was a Captain, and he was returning to the place where everything had began. The pilot shifted next to him. "Runabout Parabola to Geneva Operations, requesting clearance and flight-plan to the USS Boudicca. Commanding Officer en-route." =^=Negative, Parabola. Standing Orders have been left for Captain Sevant to board the USS Steel Talons at his earliest convenience.=^= Sevant turned his head, and nodded at the Lieutenant behind the controls. The pilot inclined his head in response. "Affirmative Geneva Control, we are changing course for the 'Talons." The runabout changed direction with ease, and approached the Sovereign class ship, not unlike the vessel he had just left. The Talons looked meaner somehow, though, with it's black Ablative armor and more visible weapons platforms. He stood a few moments after the Pilot requested instructions from the Talons and was ordered to heave-to. "Ready the transporter," the Vulcan said a few moments later when he was ordered to beam over, "And wait for me." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Steel Talons - Admiral's Quarter - Capt Sevant - 0925) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Captain." Sevant turned on his heel as the doors hissed shut behind the Fleet Admiral. He came to attention, and in the same low tones he said, "Fleet Admiral." The Admiral gestured to a chair as he moved past the desk and took a seat himself. Sevant obliged and sat, himself staying silent. He had never met this admiral face-to-face before, though he had received several communiqués as of late since he was given command of the Boudicca. Fleet Admiral LoDona, for his part, simply stared across the desk at the Captain for several long moments before folding his hands together and saying "Welcome to the party." "Sir?" Sevant's tone was even, though the Admiral's statement had made no sense to him. The Admiral smiled, tightly, "I've read your file Captain, I know the Boudicca was your first major assignment after Graduation. I would say welcome to the family, but our CO's are not credited anymore with anything other then treachery. I'm sure you can imagine what I'm talking about. So, rather then congratulate you on Command, I'm saying welcome to the party." The Admiral leaned back, "You have read the information I've sent you about the Boudicca's refit?" "Yes Sir." Sevant said shortly, "I'm aware of her new abilities." "Good." The Admiral folded his hands together, "Then you can probably guess what I will have you be doing, now that we are engaged in a quasi-civil war?" Sevant had indeed given that a lot of thought. The Boudicca was a warship, and they were in a semi-war. She would definatly spend time on the proverbial front lines. She also had a cloak now, and her weapons had been improved. "If I had to venture a guess, Admiral, I would say espionage and defense. And, perhaps, First Strike should things get that out of hand." The admiral nodded, almost ghost like. "Does that bother you, Captain?" "I have special reason to hate Admiral Doenitz and his cadre, Admiral. Attacking he and his do not bother me, loss of life and civil war do. It would be in everyone's best interest to end this whole political affair quickly, and quietly." LoDona nodded at that, "I am also aware of your recent history." He took a few moments, then grabbed a PADD, "Your skills, your tactics, your familiarity with the Boudicca and your motivations are why I choose you for this command." The Admiral handed the PADD over, "The ship was rushed through her workup, she will require someone who knows her intimately to give her a quick and thorough shakedown. You qualify, you were close, and you were in a position to take command." The Vulcan looked down at the PADD, it was a more up-to-date list of the ships technical schematics, her roster, and various other things. He pushed a button, "I see you have chosen a First Officer already." "A matter of necessity Captain, the Boudicca leaves in one day. Commander Grailik is a member of my personal staff, he is well experienced and competent. You will have a chance to choose your own as time and opportunity permit." "Very well." Sevant said, then looked up. "Anything else?" Robert LoDona sat back in his chair, then said. "Your mission objectives are on the padd. Do not fail." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Shuttle Bay 1 - Capt Sevant - 1005) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sevant stepped off the ramp and looked about. Things were mad, there were engineers everywhere. The Vulcans face remained impassive as he looked back and forth, and then centered on someone approaching him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca, Shuttle Bay 1, Capt Sevant & Cmndr Grailik, 1006) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grailik made a few more corrections on the PADD he was holding as he watched the shuttle carrying the new CO finish landing. Grailik had carefully read Sevant's file and, from a counselors perspective, was looking forward to this meeting. He started across the hectic shuttle bay as the shuttle came to a rest and the door slowly opened. ~Let it begin.~ Grailik recognized Sevant from the bio picture and moved up to him. "Welcome aboard Captain," Grailik said, bowing slightly in respect. "I am Commander Grailik, and will be serving as your First Officer." Grailik offered Sevant his PADD. "Here is a current system readiness report for you." Sevant looked at the officer, "Commander... Grailik?" He looked at the PADD briefly, then looked back up again and nodded. "With me, Commander. In a few words, what is our current readiness?" He stepped off the ramp, and began heading for the door. Grailik fell into step next to Sevant before answering. "We're still a way off from full readiness. The SIF is only at 70%. Warp drive is on line but our top speed is only warp 5 till we can bring the SIF up to full power. I've got Engineering and Operation crews pulling double shifts. We should be at full readiness in 24 to 36 hours. That should give the remaining crew time to report for duty." Sevant nodded as he stepped into a corridor, "Current crew numbers? We might have to leave in a hurry." "Most of the senior officers have not yet reported on board, they should be arriving sometime later today. The MCO, a Major Straton, is on-board along with the majority of the marine contingent. Still waiting on the Combat Engineers and the MXO. Major Straton has request a meeting with you at your earliest convenience." Sevant mulled over that for several moments as they stepped into a turbolift. "Bridge" he called. He put his hands behind his back, "Then I will meet with her as soon as I can." He turned to face the Commander, "And we will have to have a talk at a convenient time, I only learned of your presence within the last hour." Grailik's brow rose slightly, as he nodded. "I was rather surprised with the assignment myself, sir. Admiral LoDona only told me a few days ago." The doors opened, and Sevant stepped through immediately. He paused a few steps in, and looked around. The bridge appeared to be mostly in order, fully manned with officers obviously running diagnostics or the like. His eyes peered briefly at his old Tactical station, where a few extra visible gadgets had been installed for a holographic targeting system. He looked forward again, where the screen was showing an active star field, in 3D, another holographic addition to the ship. Otherwise, it was just as he remembered it. He could almost imagine Captain Rivers coming out of the Ready Room, complete with orders to engage the Borg, or the Romulans, or whomever they had run across during his tenure. He nodded to himself, "It has been a long time Commander, since I have been on this bridge." Grailik smiled slightly. "Like coming home again, isn't it? Even if there are a few new gadgets here and there." The Half-Vulcan's brow furrowed slightly and he looked at the bridge for several more moments, and felt a pang that his wife could not be with him, to celebrate his command. She had been with him for his jump to lieutenant, and everything else up to Lieutenant Commander. Now, only her memory would survive. "Home, perhaps." He shrugged the thought away and gestured to the ready room. Grailik carefully watched the play of emotions on the seemingly calm Vulcan's face. When Sevant gestured toward the Read Room, Grailik nodded and followed Sevant in. Sevant stepped to the side and looked at the room. It had been sterilized, reverted back to a personality-less area. That would have to change, just a little. He gestured to a chair as he walked around the desk. "Do we have any serious issues that should come to my attention, besides the shakedown we need to perform?" "Other than getting the ship in top running order, no. There are no other pressing matters, that I'm aware of, at this moment," Grailik said, getting the distinct impression the Sevant was fishing for something. Sevant nodded, "Then lets get My command codes entered as Commander, and we can get on with business. We both have many things to do before long." Grailik nodded, "Of course. Computer, this is Commander Grailik, transfer all command codes to Captain Sevant. Authorization, Gamma 5 6 7 Charlie." [Captain Sevant must be Identified] "Computer, identify Sevant, Caladryll. Omega Seven Seven." Sevant said, a breath later. [Identity Confirmed, Command Codes Transferred] Sevant nodded, "Schedule a period of time with each of my Senior Staff over the next few days, after they have reported in. Yourself included, XO." "Of course," Grailik said, rising. "If there is nothing else then, I should get back down to engineering." Sevant nodded, once. "I will be where I can be found, I have some paperwork to attend to immediately. Dismissed, XO." Grailik nodded, turned and left. The doors hissed behind the Commander, leaving Sevant alone in what was now his ready room. He folded his hands together and leaned back in the chair. The room was silent, not even the hiss of the life-support system could be heard. The ship was his, without any of the fanfare that he had imagined so long ago with a new wife at his side and the world at his fingertips. He had started his Starfleet career here, and now here he was again, in far less innocent times. He had a crew he hadn't met, a First Officer he hadn't chosen, and a mission that was dubious at best. He would, however, operate to the best of his ability. Sevant shook his head and leaned forward, to access the bios of his senior crew. He had a lot to learn, and little time to learn it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Starbase Geneva – Operations – TAC/SC – lieutenant (senior grade) William Bush – 10:30) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William walked out on to the operations deck of Geneva it was a change to have lost his red uniform in replacement for his old yellow one to signify security. William was due on the Boudicca however he was not about to leave with out saying good-bye to his friend. William moved slowly up to John who was standing in operations and stopped a few feet back. William had to bite his tongue he was no longer the same rank as John and needed to get into the knack of calling him sir. “Commander Wilson, I am about to disembark,” William stated in a respectful tone, which was an unusual way to talk to John Wilson. “For gods sake man its John,” William had expected him to say that but did not want to presume. “Best of look William she is a fine ship full of new toys,” William smiled and nodded he had only briefly read the Boudicca specifications however from what he had read it was a fine ship. “I am sure to be coming by here again soon John. However now I must be on my way,” Bush stated extending his hand and shaking his friends. William then turned and left operations to make his way to the transporter room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Transporter Room One – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 10:40) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The moment he had dematerialised and everything had come into focus William smiled at the transporter officer. “Welcome aboard sir,” The young ensign stated, Bush moved over smiling. “Thank you for bringing me aboard, where is the captain?” “In his ready room sir,” William smiled and nodded to him and then proceeded towards the bridge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 10:50) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William must have got lost about 15 times on route to the bridge the ship was immense and dwarfed any other he had been on. The prospect of securing this entire ship was not a pleasant one. As he walked onto the bridge there were engineers installing new equipment and smiling like little children surrounding what was the tactical station. William ignored it for the moment and moved over to the captain’s ready room. Pressing the door chime he awaited a call to enter. “Captain, Lieutenant Bush Chief of Security and Tactical officer come aboard sir,” (Reply Servant) “Thank you sir it is a pleasure to be here,” William then kicked himself mentally his CO was a Vulcan so pleasure would not really come into it. “Aye sir,” William stated waiting to be dismissed and then leaving the CO’s ready room he moved onto the bridge to begin to get his quarters ready and his office. He was not going to try and muscle in on the engineers work at the tactical station he would leave them for now to finish with their new toys. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 10:50) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sevant looked up from his reading as the door chime went off. He looked back down a moment later, "Enter." He tapped a couple buttons and dimmed the screen, then looked back up again. A man in security yellow approached him and came to attention. Captain, Lieutenant Bush Chief of Security and Tactical officer come aboard sir,=^= Sevant folded his hands together as he looked at the Lieutenant for a few moments. "Welcome aboard, Lieutenant." "Thank you sir it is a pleasure to be here," Sevant inclined his head at that. "As you might have noticed from your trip here, the ship is still being fixed up in preparation for our departure. There is precious little time for you to settle in before taking your duties." "Aye sir," "Very well, Lieutenant. Dismissed." (reply: if desired) Sevant watched the new Tactical chief leave. More experienced then Sevant had been at the start, LoDona apparently put high stock in this ship. Sevant frowned a moment, then flipped his monitor around about brought up the Lieutant's bio. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CMO Lt (sg) Dr. Domini Alizara - 10:52) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It had taken Domini almost 2 weeks to get to the Boudicca, and she stood outside the new Captain's ready room, she wondered exactly why she had dropped everything to come back out into space again. Then she realized that it was because it was space. Not sitting on Earth teaching children who were too full of idealism and who hadn't exactly grown any common sense yet. She walked into the ready room, then looked at her Captain. She had a very private report from the Counsellor of the previous ship he had served on, one Lt. Commander Vanyssa Winters. Domini didn't want to think too hard about what exactly that particular Counsellor had done with Sevant to get him ready for command so quickly. "Lt (sg) Dr. Domini Alizara reporting for duty, Sir." Domini spoke, one blond curl falling out of the pins that she kept her barely shoulder length straw blonde hair pulled back in. She gave him a look with her dark deep brown betazoid eyes, and then sat her bags at her feet and took the proffered seat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant - 10:53) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Lt (sg) Dr. Domini Alizara reporting for duty, Sir." Sevant looked up from his screen once more, looked at the woman for a few moments, then gestured to a seat. The doctor dropped her bags, and made way for it immediately. Sevant turned his attention back to the screen a moment later, and brought up the Doctors bio. "Your last assignment was on Earth, Doctor. That is usually considered a prized assignment," He looked back, "So why the Boudicca?" (reply: Doc) Sevant folded his hands together, "Indeed." He shut the screen down, "You are aware, I take it, that this is a warship and we are in a civil war?" He looked up at her, "You will be busy, even assuming I do everything right. Does this trouble you over-much?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CMO Domini Alizara - 10:54) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sevant turned his attention back to the screen a moment later, and brought up the Doctor's bio. I'm of more use out here, on board a ship where there is a very real chance that something bad will happen and my training will be used. Also, " And she smiled. Counselling is generally an occupation that keeps you behind a nice plushy desk in a ritzy office. Most counsellors are too delicate for war." Will there be a Counsellor on board, or should I make myself available for both, Sir?" She asked, finishing up with a deep breath. "And if you don't mind me saying so, I received a report from your last Counsellor basically saying to watch you pretty closely for stress...and to make sure you didn't kill anyone. That is not something that should get out to the rest of the crew. So...if you make a promise to me that if you feel things going badly, and come to me, and we deal with it..quietly..." She grinned, "I'll make the promise to not breathe down your shoulder and push that report from Commander Winters to the side, and not let it affect our relationship. Just from sitting here talking you seem to be pretty balanced, so I'm not really sure what she was so concerned about." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CO - 10:54) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Your last assignment was on Earth, Doctor. The Vulcan tapped his fingers together for a few moments, then said "I will answer you, categorically, Doctor." He leaned back in his chair, "We will be getting a full crew, but the ships manifest and crew were put together on short notice, so I cannot promise you either before we sail. Which is, as plans have it, within the next day. Yes, there will also be a counselor, eventually. Until we do, you will have to server in double capacity when possible." He leaned forward, "As for the report from counselor Winters, Doctor, I know the value of Counselors. I also know I am a private man. I will not be putting my career or the safety on the line because of my own personal issues, that you can be assured of." Sevant leaned back again, "Is there anything else, Doctor?" (reply: CMO/Couns) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – TAC/SC office – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 11:00) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William had thrown all his personal effects into his quarters at the moment there was bigger priorities, which were to get the tactical station sorted and ready for the shake down, cruise. In his experience shake down cruises usually resulted in a fight and he was not going to get caught with out knowing how to use the weapons. William searched around the office and then located a big pad. Pulling it out Bush looked over the words. “A guide to the holographic interface,” Bush read of the title and grinned to himself. After placing it back down out of pride he realised he had no clue what a holographic interface was so reading might be appropriate. William picked up the pad once more and began to read this was not going to be fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Security Center - Security Squad Chief - Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 11:05) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Melody frowned as she looked at the standing orders on the Security Center's main situation board, and noticed that her Senior Officer had arrived without her noticing previously. She shook her head and turned to the Officer of the Deck, "Aight, so when did the boss arrive?" The raw ensign looked over, then looked back down at his board like a properly whipped little puppy. One didn't argue with a Senior Chief, even if they were an officer, unless there was very good reason. "Reported on less then an hour ago, he entered the security center not 10 minutes ago." "Huh, Ill be buggered." She straitened up, then purposely walked for the TAC/SC's office. She pushed the enunciator, and waited for a response. (reply: Bush) Melody walked in, and looked at the manual in the Lieutenants hands. She smiled a private little smile as she came to attention, "Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad, at your command, Lieutenant." (reply: Bush) Melody gestured to the manual the Chief was holding, "Sir, want to learn about that thing first hand? I was one of those specifically trained by Starfleet Tactical to use it and instruct on its use, for here on the Boudicca" (reply: Bush) NRPG: A Conversation can follow, your call ;o) Like I said, if the time on this next part doesn't work, I can push it back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – TAC/SC Office – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush - 11:05) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William stood up from the desk once more the holographic interface manual was a complicated book and it was starting to confuse William. As William replicated a coffee he turned back to the desk and began to read the manual once more. The offices chime activated William was thrown off and then realised the person would be waiting. “Come,” William watched as the security officer came in and stood to attention. "Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad, at your command, Lieutenant." “Hello Chief Haverstaad,” William replied smiling at the Chief. "Sir, want to learn about that thing first hand? I was one of those specifically trained by Starfleet Tactical to use it and instruct on its use, for here on the Boudicca" “That would be brilliant Chief,” William stated glad for any assistance that could be granted. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Training Holodeck 1 - Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 1130) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Melody smiled as she stepped into the training program. It was a representation of the Bridge, with mythical officers inhabiting every position but Tactical. She placed her hands behind her back, "This is the Holographic Training Program, Sir. A little something we threw together to teach the intricacies of our new interactive system. She looked at him for a few moments, then gestured to the one real anomaly of the bridge. It was a second holographic ring, twice as large as the one by the tactical station. "You step inside this ring, Sir, and you will see not only what I am seeing, but a holographic representation of myself. You can walk around it, and through it, to get the best vantage point. But for all intensive purposes, you will see exactly what I'm seeing and doing without bumping into me during action." (reply: if desired) She made sure he was within the circle, then walked over and sat in the tactical seat herself. She looked over at him, made sure all was in order, then said "Computer, start simulation." Immediately Red Alert klaxons went off. The Captain of the simulation swung in his chair, "Report!" "Romulan decloaking off the starboard bow!" the Chief said, getting into the act. "Raising shields!" The Captain swung back around, "Arm all weapons!" Melody hid another smile as she slapped a button that armed all weapons on the console, then slid her chair back to give herself room. "Start Tactical Systems!" All around her, the images of the bridge faded, to be replaced by a 3D representation of the surrounding stars and enemies. Off to the ships Starboard bow, she saw a perfect image of a Warbird, primed and ready for combat. Mindful of the fact that ten feet away, the Lieutenant was watching a holographic representation of her doing her thing, she reached out and pushed a 'button' that was hovering in mid-air near the bottom of her reach. It was a button that chose her personal configuration, something she had set up before hand. Now, the computer recognized her, and it would obey the conditions she had already programmed. She looked up, to her immediate top-right, where a small schematic of the ships readiness and shield-status were poised permanently. Shields were up and at 100%, no problems were known. Then, with no warning, the Warbird opened fire. "Incoming!" she bellowed. "Open fire, fire at will!" she heard the Captain say clearly from 'beyond' the star field. Melody grinned as the ship turned into evasive maneuvers. She put out her right hand, and 'touched' the Romulan ship with her pointer finger. Immediately, phasers lanced out from the holo-Boudicca and hit the Warbird where her index finger had grazed. She reached out with her left hand and quickly touched several spots with her index finger there, and photon torpedoes launched for each of the places she had targeted. In a nutshell, she was touching the places on the warbird that she wanted hit with specific weapons. Phasers were controlled with her right hand, photons with her left. That was how she had it programmed for her, and each member of the Bridge Security crew could program it to their own tastes. After thirty more seconds of attacking, she suddenly stopped. With deliberation she turned, and waved at nothing. Ten feet away, the Lieutenant would be seeing her holographic double doing the exact same thing. She said, in a loud voice, "Computer, stop and reset. Disengage Holographic Interface." At the same time the Tactical Interface disintegrated before her very eyes, the holographic simulation itself paused and reset itself to what it had been when they walked in. The Lieutenant was still in the larger holographic circle. From the look on his face, he had enjoyed what he had seen. "You might have noticed, Sir, that I have set the weapons to both my hands. Right pointer for phaser, Left for photon. My Quantum torpedo command is my right middle finger, I didn't launch any of those. You can choose any number of commands, though I suggest you keep them easy and practice them enough to make them reflex in short order." She stood up from the chair, "I also had a shield-status monitor at my top-right, at all times, so I could simply glance over and see. You can have any number of controls 'visible' to you while you are in the matrix, but I would warn you not to place too many or you can block your view of the battle." (reply: Bush) "Care to give it a try, Sir? You can play with my settings if you like, unless you want to spend ten minutes training it to you." She stepped away from the Tactical station, "I can watch as you just watched, and give pointers if you like?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ (Boudicca - Training Holodeck 1 – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush - 1130) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ William watched as the chief moved around the bridge Melody smiled as she stepped into the training program. It was a strange sensation to watch the holographic officers move about the replica of the Boudicca. "This is the Holographic Training Program, Sir. A little something we threw together to teach the intricacies of our new interactive system. She looked at him for a few moments, and then gestured to the one real anomaly of the bridge. It was a second holographic ring, twice as large as the one by the tactical station. But for all intensive purposes, you will see exactly what I'm seeing and doing without bumping into me during action." William nodded it was defiantly a complex system, the need for these complex ideas always threw him simplicity was always the best way for William and he always appreciated simplicity. William watched the demonstration with intrigue as the Chief displayed the working of the holographic system. Once she had finished the simulation, the bridge reset itself and William held his breath it was a change to be taught things and these new computer systems were confusing and thus a challenge. William enjoyed challenges and thus this was going to be enjoyable. "Computer, stop and reset. Disengage Holographic Interface." "You might have noticed, Sir, that I have set the weapons to both my hands. Right pointer for phaser, left for photon. My Quantum torpedo command is my right middle finger; I didn't launch any of those. You can have any number of controls 'visible' to you while you are in the matrix, but I would warn you not to place too many or you can block your view of the battle." ”Right,” This seemed to be the only reply possible under the circumstances what he had just seen was a complex bit of equipment and the prospect of playing with this was riveting. "Care to give it a try, Sir? You can play with my settings if you like, unless you want to spend ten minutes training it to you." The chief stated and then spoke again. "I can watch as you just watched, and give pointers if you like?" “Right Chief ill give it ago if you can stick around and point me in the right direction. If I may also ask could you assemble the rest of the security force for 12:00 I want to have a talk to them all,” (Reply Haverstaad) “Thank you Chief now lets get to work,” William stated moving into the main interface section. Standing inside William stretched out his hands it was a most singular experience. As the same Romulan War bird appeared William extended his hand and tapped on the vessel with his left index finger he activated the targeting which surrounded the Romulan vessel in a red triangle. William then tapped his main index finger to fire the phaser correct enough Phaser shot out of the Boudicca. Tapping his right index finger photons flew out of the vessel, finally his little finger launched Quantum torpedoes. William stood back it was an impressive technology and he was looking forward to implementing it. As the simulation shut down William stood and then moved off towards the Chief. “A impressive technology Chief. Now shall we go and introduce me to the rest of the security staff,” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Training Holodeck 1 - Security Squad Chief, Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 1140) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Right Chief ill give it ago if you can stick around and point me in the right direction. If I may also ask could you assemble the rest of the security force for 12:00 I want to have a talk to them all," Haverstaad nodded her head, "Yessir, will do." "Thank you Chief now lets get to work," He stepped into the tactical ring, and the program started. Melody stepped into the 'guest' ring and watched a perfect holographic double of the Chief being to interact with the program. He was a bit jerky, and his hand/eye coordination showed that he would require practice with this system. However, it was for reasons like this that the traditional Tactical console hadn't been touched, there was no way Starfleet was going to put the ship into combat while Tactical officers felt uncomfortable about accessing and targeting. She frowned, and stepped to the side as the Warbird fired, and one of their disruptor torpedoes shot 'through' her. The Chief seemed to take it in stride, and continued firing on the Romulans. Once the simulation had stopped, and Melody had stepped back out, he said, "A impressive technology Chief. Now shall we go and introduce me to the rest of the security staff," "Aye, Sir." she said, "Computer, save and close." The Holodeck faded into it's yellow grid. "Glad you like it, Sir, this system is my baby on Boudicca. It has it's own separate power supply, and a tap into emergency power. And it's hands-on style has brought up target-to-fire ratios by as much as ten percent in standard tests, once the subject is fully trained and comfortable with it." (reply: If desired) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Shuttle Carter - Ensign Sparek - 1150) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This is not a good day to die!" swore Sparek as his hands flew over the console. Sensors down, shields down, life support failing, hull integrity... River blinked at that figure. How the hell was this thing still in one piece! Don't think about it Sparek he told himself just get that damn transporter on line and get your butt out of here. Trust no-one Drummond had said. Did that include Drummond himself? Had he set this booby trap into the shuttle's systems or had someone at the station he had stopped by to make repairs? No time now to figure that one out. Time enough for that when he got out of this mess. If he got out of this mess. "Work!" he shouted at the console. "Work! Work! WORK!" Something flickered and sensors and the transporter suddenly came back on line. Great, thought the young ensign. Four years of the academy and the bloody ship responds to a bit of shouting rather than my know how. Still never look a gift horse in the mouth. Just be grateful I'm not your average unemotional vulcan. Time to get out of here in one piece rather than stay and become a billion pieces. If you went by the book the Boudicca wasn't yet in transport range. However with that little extra safety margin that was built into them it was just possible to beam to it. Maybe. Hopefully. The shuttle suddenly stopped shuddering. Bad sign. "Time to go" said River and energised. The shuttle blew up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Transporter Room One - Ensign Sparek -1152) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sparek allowed a smile to cross his face as the transporter room of the Boudicca materialised around him. The young ensign on duty gave a start as Sparek appeared. Even more so since it was a smiling Vulcan. "Close" said Sparek "Very close". Then he noticed the phaser in the transporter officer's hand pointed directly at him. "Don't move" the officer ordered in a voice that was obviously meant to be authorative but plainly wasn't. " Who are you?" "Ensign Sparek" said Ensign Sparek. "Science Officer. Sorry for the slightly unorthodox entrance but I had a shuttle malfunction. Actually it blew up but I suppose that counts as a malfunction" The phaser kept right on pointing at Sparek. "Transporter room 1 to Security" said the transporter officer tapping his comm badge. "I have an unauthorised beam in. Please send a security team" Sparek sighed. Not exactly the bst of starts. At least he was alive though. For now, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – On Route to TAC/SC Office – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush - 12:00) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William was walking along the corridor waiting to be introduced to the rest of his security team. As he was the com system activated, William paused and listened to the com link. =^=Transporter room 1 to Security, I have an unauthorised beam in. Please send a security team=^= William did not recognise the voice but that was not unusual William had only just arrived and it was not going to be strange that he did not recognise voices. “This is Lieutenant Bush, im on route,” William stated running down the corridor with the Chief. As the transporter room loomed upon him William reached to the panel in the corridor and activated a weapons holder. Pushing his finger up against the panel the panel swung around. Revealing phasers and rifles, William reached forward and collected a phaser and a rifle. Holstering the phaser William opened the transporter room door and walked in phaser rifle in hand. There was a young officer standing just off the transporter padd with the transport chief holding a phaser out. “Who the hell are you?” William asked being blunt and to the point. (Reply Sparek) “Well Ensign Sparek, why did you arrive in such a manner and why is the transporter chief is holding a phaser to you?” (Reply Sparek) “Right ensign, my advice is not to move,” William continued to point the rifle at the young officer whilst he freed up his left arm and pressed his com badge. With the current civil war situation looming he could not be too careful it is possible agents would be trying to sabotage the ship. “Bush to Captain Servant, Captain I have a ensign here who has just transported in. I was wondering are you expecting him, he is one Ensign Sparek,” William stated giving all the possible information he held. (Reply Servant) “Aye sir I shall escort him up to the ready room,” William stated. William passed the rifle over to the Section chief and then moved closer to the ensign. His Vulcan ears came from behind his ears and William looked at him coldly showing the same lack of emotion. “Well Ensign Sparek I shall be taking you to the captain if you would not mind following me,” William stated attempting to remain polite. (Reply Sparek) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Captain Sevant - 12:00) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Sir, we have an explosion to the starboard aft! Looks like it was a shuttle..." Sevant looked up and over at the Tactical officer on duty, "Confirm that." he said, as he dropped the PADD to the side of the chair. The Tactical officer's fingers were dancing on the console, "Confirmed, it was a shuttle, and the Transporter room is calling an intruder alert, unauthorized beam in. Security is scrambling." Sevant nodded, then folded his hands together as he waited. In a couple minutes, the bridge speakers buzzed. =^="Bush to Captain Sevant, Captain I have a ensign here who has just transported in. I was wondering are you expecting him, he is one Ensign Sparek,=^= ~Indeed.~ "Yes, Chief, his name is on the list. Bring him to my ready room." =^=Aye sir I shall escort him up to the ready room,=^= Sevant stood once the connection had closed, "Ops has the bridge." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Transporter Room 1 – Sci– Ensign Sparek - 12:02) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sparek watched the transporter chief as both waited for the security team to arrive and wondered what he would have done in the same situation. Well it passed the time until someone else showed up. Thinking about it Sparek thought he would have shot himself. Better rephrase that he grinned. He would have shot the intruder. With a phaser set on stun of course. He was no cold blooded killer. Not yet. But given the paranoid political situation at the moment Sparek really could be anyone and given the fact that he had been beamed in by himself and not the Boudicca meant he could have anything on him. He could in fact be a walking bomb. Better not tell the chief that though. Being shot was such a damn inconvenience. Precisely one minute and forty three seconds later the cavalry arrived in the form of a single security officer. Though to be fair he was armed with both a phaser and a rifle. Not that he could use them both at the same time but it was still reassuring. At least it would be if the rifle wasn't pointed at him. “Who the hell are you?” the security officer asked. Blunt and to the point, thought Sparek. Just the way i like a security officerto be. "Ensign Sparek" said Sparek in a calm, soft voice. "I'm the new science officer" “Well Ensign Sparek, why did you arrive in such a manner and why is the transporter chief is holding a phaser to you?” "Sorry about my method of arrival, sir" Sparek apologised, noting the rank of the security officer. "I would have requested permission to beam aboard but I had a slight problem with my shuttle. Or it had a slight problem with me I'm not sure which. Either way I'm pretty certain its now in a billion pieces by now. If you check with the ship's scanners I'm sure you will be able to determine the exact number." “Right ensign" said the Lieutenant not letting down his guard even after the explanation "My advice is not to move,” Sparek raised his eyebrow at that. Two Starfleet officers were pointing lethal weapons at him. What else was he going to do besides stay still? The Risa shuffle? The lieutenant continued to point the rifle at Sparek. Holding it in one hand, he pressedhis comm badge with the other. it is possible agents would be trying to sabotage the ship. “Bush to Captain Servant, Captain I have a ensign here who has just transported in. I was wondering are you expecting him, he is one Ensign Sparek,” (Reply Servant) “Aye sir I shall escort him up to the ready room,” Bush stated. Bush passed the rifle over to the transporter chief. Sloppy thought Sparek. he hadn't been searched for a weapon and that would have been the perfect moment to try to draw any concealed weapon. Bush moved closer to him. The man's eyes were cold and unemotional. Don't underestimate this one, Sparek thought and kept his own gaze as unemotional. “Well Ensign Sparek I shall be taking you to the captain if you would not mind following me,” Bush stated attempting to remain polite but his coldness leaking into his voice. "An armed escort" Sparek replied. "Reassuring in times like this" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 12:09) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William appeared on the bridge and waved his right hand forward to indicate to the Ensign to exit the turbo lift. As the two men walked into the bridge William directed him to the ready room silently with out saying a word. As the ready room doors swung open. William followed behind the ensign with his right hand still on his phaser encase the Captain was not expecting the officer." “Captain, this is Ensign Sparek sir,” William stated indicating to the ensign, he then paused and spoke again. “ Will you need anything else sir? I wanted to discuss running medicals for my security team with the doctor,” William stated indicating his intentions to the Captain. (Reply Servant) William nodded and removed his hand from his phaser. William turned and exited the ready room once on the bridge he saw one of the his security team over by the tactical consol. Since he did not know them William whistled and the security guard looked. William extended his hand and shook the ensigns. “Lieutenant William Bush, Chief of Security and Tactical Officer,” “Ensign John Preston, sir Tactical officer,” The young ensign seemed thrown by the appearance of the chief of security. “Right Ensign are you versed in the new interface?” “No sir, I mean yes sir. Ok maybe sir,” William raised an eyebrow by the confused response. “Right Ensign locate assistant Haverstaad get a refresher,” William stated and then began walking towards the turbo lift until he remembered he still wore a phaser. “ Oh and take this,” William stated passing the phaser and holster over to the Ensign. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – Sci– Ensign Sparek– 12:09) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It wasn't exactly the way Sparek had imagined his first visit to the bridge. Accompanied by an armed guard ready to shoot him down if necessary. Bush waved with his right hand to indicate the way to the captain's ready room. At least I don't have to wait to see the captain, he thought. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Ready Room – Sci – Ensign Sparek– 12:10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Captain, this is Ensign Sparek sir,” Bush stated indicating the the ensign, he then paused and spoke again. “ Will you need anything else sir? I wanted to discuss running medicals for my security team with the doctor,” Sparek looked at his new captain, assessing him, waiting for what he would say. (Reply Servant) Bush nodded and removed his hand from his phaser. With one last look at Sparek he exited the room. Sparek turned back to face his captain. (reply Sevant) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant- 12:10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Captain, this is Ensign Sparek sir, Will you need anything else sir? I wanted to discuss running medicals for my security team with the doctor," Sevant looked at the ensign for a few moments, then over at the Chief of Security. "No, that will be all." The Chief made way, leaving Sevant alone with the new ensign. "I believe, Mr Sparek," Sevant began, "That you should start by telling me what just happened and how it can be prevented in the future." His eyebrow quirked exactly a quarter of an inch, as he waited for the response. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Sparek- 12:12) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bush exited the room leaving Sparek alone with the captain. "I believe, Mr Sparek," Sevant began, "That you should start by telling me what just happened and how it can be prevented in the future." His eyebrow quirked exactly a quarter of an inch, as he waited for the response. The quarter inch eyebrow raise. How very vulcan. Sparek smiled. So very unvulcan. "My shuttle exploded" Sparek replied. (reply Savent) "Why?" Sparek echoed. "Why indeed. I performed a full system check and scan before leaving Mars. The shuttle was perfectly functional." (reply Savent) "Sabotage? Maybe. Maybe not. I didn't have time to run a complete scan or even very much of a scan. I was too busy trying to get the systems back on line long enough to stay alve. Which as you can see I did" (reply Savent) "As ordered I didn't tell anyone I was joining up with the Boudicca. However it was known I was on my way to Geneva. It is possible that someone put two an two together and figured it out. It does seem strange that a shuttle in perfect working order and with such a safe service history should malfunction now and just before I came aboard. Maybe it was an attempt to delay the ship's launch. Or a little warning that people know about the ship. Then again it could just be an accident. There is no proof at the moment for any theory. Just speculation" Sparek's eyebrow quirked exactly a quarter of an inch, as he waited for the response. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Capt Sevant- 12:12) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "My shuttle exploded" Sevant waited exactly two seconds, "Indeed, I had noticed that much." he said, dryly. "The better question is, why?" "Why?" Sparek echoed. "Why indeed. I performed a full system check and scan before leaving Mars. The shuttle was perfectly functional." Sevant leaned back in his chair, "Leaving any number of possibilities. Collision, fire, virus, technical failure," He paused, and mindful of the current political situation and the quasi-war they were about to fight, "Or perhaps sabotage." "Sabotage? Maybe. Maybe not. I didn't have time to run a complete scan or even very much of a scan. I was too busy trying to get the systems back on line long enough to stay alive. Which as you can see I did" "Indeed. Who knew of your intended destination?" "As ordered I didn't tell anyone I was joining up with the Boudicca. Just speculation" Sevant considered that for several moments. "Your first duty then will be to recover whatever is left of the Shuttle, Mr Sparek, and attempt to determine a cause. If it was sabotage, then our near-readiness to depart isn't quite so secret that we were all lead to believe." He considered for a few more moments, "Questions?" (reply: Sparek) "Very well, Dismissed." (reply: Sparek) Sevant waited for the Vulcan to depart, then shook his head, "Sevant to Grailik, we just had a shuttle explode. Did LoDona make it known to you that our launching was something less then a secret?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Sickbay – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 12:15) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William entered sickbay and saw the hive of activity that was consuming the sickbay. As always Starfleet had rushed the vessel and half of it was still under construction. William searched the horizon of the sickbay for a senior officer seeing the two pips he moved over. “Lt?” William asked in a questioning manner since he only had a glimpse at the pips. (Reply Alizara) “Good you are the chief of medicine on this ship right? Sorry but I don’t have a clue about the ships officers at the moment,” William aid apologetically. (Reply Alizara) “Brilliant, im Lieutenant William Bush chief of security. Im actually here on business, I was wondering if you have the time whilst we get under way to begin screening my security people psychologically and physically. I would like particular attention to any mental disorders also fears,” William, stated proberly scaring the new medical officer. (Reply Alizara) “It is for future reference and plus I want to know my people inside and out. You can tell a lot about people by their fears and their dreams with out this knowledge I wont know my strongest most independent people from my needy people,” (Reply Alizara) “Brilliant I will sort out sending them down to you. Ill contact you further for information and to organise the best dates and times. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca ñ Sickbay ñ CMO Dr. Domini Alizara ñ 12:15) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After dropping her bags off in her quarters, which the nice guy at Ops had given her, she went to find her sickbay. Predictably like the rest of the ship it was a den of chaos rather than the haven of serenity she wanted it to be. She nodded to what little staff had already reported on board, grabbed the nearest crew chief and began to dictate how she wanted things done in HER sickbay. Yet again, it was predictable enough that this would get someone's attention. she sat in the middle of the floor, with a cup of tea, going through the various medications aboard, and making up a list of those raw ingredients that would have to be purchased/requisitioned from the Geneva before the ship set out. She had quite a tidy list of things that she needed, including emergency kits to be stationed around the ship (which for sme reason had been ignored) when she heard someone say Lt. quizzically "Hmm? Yes? Can i help you?" She asked in her most professional manner giving this person a good glancing over. ìGood you are the chief of medicine on this ship right? Sorry but I donít have a clue about the ships officers at the moment,î William aid apologetically. "That is okay. And yes I am. The last I heard I'm doubling as the Counsellor aboard this ship, and, oh, I guess I should introduce myself" She said with a smile, and that damn blond curl falling into her face again. "I am Domini Alizara, Doctor of medicine and head-shrinking. Currently a Lt (sg) in Starfleet. I hail from Betazed. And you are?" She asked, realizing that yet again she was rambling. ìBrilliant, im Lieutenant William Bush chief of security. Im actually here on business, I was wondering if you have the time whilst we get under way to begin screening my security people psychologically and physically. I would like particular attention to any mental disorders also fears,î William, stated probably scaring the new medical officer. "Hmm." Domini spoke for a second, thinking to herself. "You do realize that my sickbay is a disaster zone and the last time I checked there isn't a counsellor's office yet? Ok, good." she got up and led the Security chief away from the hub bub into a quiet corner of sickbay, where she perched on some boxes. "You know as well as I do that while I can and will scan your security members, both physically and mentally, unless there is something there that actually will affect duty, and in this case, it's going to be a psychological issue, probably, I can't tell you." ìIt is for future reference and plus I want to know my people inside and out. You can tell a lot about people by their fears and their dreams with out this knowledge I wont know my strongest most independent people from my needy people,î   "I suggest that you take your people to dinner, Lt, and get to know them that way. I will do the medical checks, and i will do psychological profiles if that is what you really want. However, I will not tell you their fears and dreams. That is private, privileged information and you don't get it." She finished, waiting for his reply. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Sickbay – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush - 12:16) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I suggest that you take your people to dinner, Lt, and get to know them that way. He would not make the same mistake again the doctor was more headstrong than she appeared. “Of course doctor I apologise for my brash nature,” William stated smiling feeling a lot more relaxed at least he knew he could trust the doctor now. “May I invite you for the security dinner then since it is your idea Lieutenant? Then you could make your observations there in a informal manner and I could say sorry,” (Reply Doc) “Well thank you Doctor,” Bush stated leaving sickbay behind and moving towards the turbo lift. He still had to meet the security team and introduce himself. The only reason Bush was being so weary about the rest of his team was simply because of the situation they were currently in civil war turned brother against brother. William had no intention of getting killed by one of his own. (Reply Doc, any) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - Ensign Sparek- 12:16) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sevant considered that for several moments. "Your first duty then will be to recover whatever is left of the Shuttle, Mr Sparek, and attempt to determine a cause. If it was sabotage, then our near-readiness to depart isn't quite so secret that we were all lead to believe." He considered for a few more moments, "Questions?" Sparek had quite a few questions about why his shuttle had been targeted. Unfortunately the captain apeared to know as much as Sparek about this, namely nothing. And if he did... be suspicious of everyone Drummond had said. Did that include your own captain? "No questions, sie" Sparek replied. "Very well, Dismissed." Sparek nodded and headed for the door. So much for a quiet shakedown cruise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Sickbay – CMO/COUNS – Dr. Domini Alizara - 12:17) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Of course doctor I apologise for my brash nature,” William stated smiling feeling a lot more relaxed at least he knew he could trust the doctor now. “May I invite you for the security dinner then since it is your idea Lieutenant? Then you could make your observations there in a informal manner and I could say sorry,”  Domini gave him a strange look, then replied "Of course, i would love to take the chance to meet the rest of the crew. " She spoke professionally. “Well thank you Doctor,” Bush stated leaving sickbay behind and moving towards the turbo lift. Domini stared at him, then leaned against the bulkhead once he was gone. ~He wasn't asking you out, he was just doing his job.~ She sighed and wondered if someday someone would ask her out. ~Get real, Domini. It isn't like you are pretty or anything.~ Her inner voice said harshly. She looked up as one of the technicians called her name, and she hurried over to deal with it, her face a mask of professional calm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Ensign Sparek - 12:18) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sparek took his seat at the science console. In the absence of anyone actually stepping forward and admitting to blowing that shuttle up there was only one way to find out how it had exploded. Get the pieces and put them back together. Not literally of course. At least not in this case. He just did not have the time to devote to doing that. Just as well since Sparek was not a one for jigsaws. At least not the physical kind. Mental puzzles, however, he loved. Especially mental puzzles where there was something at risk. He had that here. if he couldn't find out what had happened to the shuttle then it was possible that the same thing would happen to the Boudicca. Sparek's hands flew across the console as he got the computer to scan and locate every last piece of debris it could. The explosion had ripped the shuttle into thousands of pieces and Sparek intended to find every last one. Those he did find he had beamed into cargo bay 2. The computer would scan every piece it found, noting any and all inconsistencies. He could then put the entire ship together inside the computer and so have a computer model of the shuttle. That should tell him how the shuttle had exploded. Should. Computers were not infallible. Sparek knew that. They could miss something, something tiny, something insignificant in size but maybe not in importance. That was why he would check the wreckage itself for any clues. Sparek found it useful to actually touch and handle things to get a feel for them. Illogical for a vulcan? Maybe. But then Sparek wasn;t your ordinary Vulcan. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Starbase Geneva - Transporter Room 86 - Lt Major Leonal 'Spider' Drizzt - 1230) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If there was one thing that was annoying about Starfleet, the Marines, or would-be civil wars, it was moving from one place to another with speed and absolutely no sleep. Whereas Spider was used to it, three days without sleep didn't tend to make the human counterparts of his Combat Engineering squad very happy. They were also used to it, however, and took it with as good a grace as had been trained and beat into them over the years. Spider, as he had been nicknamed as a young 3rd Lieutenant by the Senior Chief of the squad he had been a part of for his apparent dexterity, crossed his arms as he waited for a group of engineers to beam over to the USS Boudicca, his new assignment. He hadn't been given specifics, only that he was to take his CE squad over to a newly refitted ship and assume the duties of MXO over a full company. ~Ah, what happened to the days when I could play with my explosive toys without paperwork.~ he thought wryly. His antenna twitched as the Transporter engaged, and the pad cleared of people. He licked his lips, and looked over, "Time to boldly go..." He chuckled at the faces his crewmembers made, his lack of decent humor was nearly legendary. All fifteen stepped onto the pad, the Andorian with his arms yet crossed and his close-cropped white hair laying flat against his skull. "Whenever you are ready, Chief." The stations Transporter Chief nodded his head, and engaged the controls... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO/COUNS Domini Alizara - 12:32) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Domini hit her comm badge as soon as someone mentioned that a new ensign had barely beamed off of an exploding shuttlecraft. "Lt. Alizara to Ensign Sparek." (reply Sparek) "If you would be so kind as to come by sickbay soon, I would like to look you over to make sure that you didn't suffer any damage when that shuttlecraft exploded.." She waited a moment, then replied. "It will only take a moment, Ensign, and there are quite a few things that can hurt you that aren't immediately visible." (reply Sparek) "Excellent, then I will see you at your earliest convenience. I warn you," She spoke, a bit of humor creeping into her voice, "That sickbay is as much a mess as the rest of the ship." She grinned at his reply, then walked into her office. "Lt. Alizara to Ops, I'm sending you a list of what I need requisitioned from the base. Could you see that it is taken care of?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Ensign Sparek - 12:32) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whatever else wasn't working on the Boudicca, it wasn't the sensors. They were fully operational and made swift work of locating what was left of the shuttle. And it wasn't much. By the time he had beamed the last piece he could into the shuttle bay he had maybe 17% of it. The rest was gone. Space dust. "Lt.Alizara to Ensign Sparek." his comm badge squawked. Alizara? Who the hell was Alizara. "Sparek here" he replied, hoping she would give him a clue as to who she was. "If you would be so kind as to come by sickbay soon, I would like to look you over to make sure that you didn't suffer any damage when that shuttlecraft exploded.." She must be the doctor he figured "It will only take a moment, Ensign, and there are quite a few things that can hurt you that aren't immediately visible." she went on. Interesting, thought Sparek. Does she mean the shuttle or something else. "I have something to clear up first but I will be there straight after that" he replied. "Excellent, then I will see you at your earliest convenience. I warn you," she said."That sickbay is as much a mess as the rest of the ship." "That is fine doctor" he replied sensing the humour in her voice. "it can't be as messy as my shuttle is right now. Sparek out." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Transporter Room 2 - Lt Major Leonal 'Spider' Drizzt - 1234) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Major stepped off the pad immediately and considered the Chief of the Deck he was confronted with, a sapling female whose expression was almost comical, it was so serious. He managed to keep his face strait, however, as he said "Lt Major Drizzt and the Marine squad "Fallen Angels," requesting permission to come aboard. The ensign dutifully checked her list, then nodded. "Permission granted, welcome aboard." Spider smiled graciously, then turned to the men and women most directly under his command. "Alright you apes, fall out and find quarters. Unless I call, sleep is back in fashion." He heard a mumbled 'hallelujah', but chalked it off to his men searching for the higher powers while off duty. He nodded once more to the ensign, then strode off into the corridor. Once there, he folded his arms behind his back and said, "Computer, location of the Captain?" [Captain Sevant is in the Ready Room.] "Ahh, Sevant is his name then. Sounds Vulcan, maybe Romulan... Delightful." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Ready Room - Lt Major Spider Drizzt - 1245) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Lieutenant Major Drizzt, reporting for assignment, Sir." The Captain, definatly a Vulcan, sat back in his chair and appraised the Andorian for many long moments. This was a definite mix for bad cess, Vulcans tended to frown upon the passionate nature of Andorian's. After a few moments, the Captain nodded briskly. "See to your section, Major, and welcome aboard." "Thank you, Sir." he said simply, before executing a perfect parade turn and walking out again." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Marine Center - Lt Major Spider Drizzt - 1255) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Spider stopped just inside the Marine center, and took a deep breath with his eyes closed. This was where he belonged, if he wasn't already in a BDU and in the field. He walked over to the nearest available Marine, noticed the collar, and said "Gunny, where is the MCO?" The Gunny, who hadn't been aware of his arrival, turn on his heel and noticed the Lt Major pip. He snapped to attention, "Sir, In her office, Sir." "Very well, as you were." He turned, and looked for the office. He knew only a little about this class vessel, just that it was Keltoi and therefore Tactical in nature. All CE's were trained to find the Bridge and certain other points, in the dark, on every class of Starfleet ship... so they could recapture or destroy them to prevent capture. The Marine Center hadn't been part of the regime. For a ship it's size, it was certainly outfitted with a hellish number of Marines. A full company wasn't often seen on anything less then a full sized battleship, or a station. Spider had the glimmer of an idea that this ship might be headed for trouble, too bad it's guts were still being put together. He knew the ship was fresh out of refit, he hadn't been told that it was *THIS* fresh out of refit. He eventually found the MCO's office, and hit the buzzer. After a few moments he was allowed in. The Andorian entered, waiting to see what kind of fireplug female had been put in charge of the Boudicca's Marines. He was pleasantly surprised however, and came to attention with vigor upon recognizing the occupant. "Major Drizzt reporting for duty, Major Straton!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Security Center - Security Squad Chief, Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 1257) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Security Chief on the deck, AtttenshON!" The security officers and crewmen in the Security Center, no more then a handful, came to immediate attention. Such formality wasn't often observed, but this was the first time that the Chief had come onto deck as the recognized boss, it was one of the quickest ways for everyone to get to know the Lieutenant's face. (reply: TAC/SC) "Sir, most of your Security command staff have not yet reported on board. Until your arrival, Ensign Martinez was in charge until your arrival. We have a couple other Lieutenant's and a handful of Ensigns beaming over from the Steel Talons and Starbase Geneva within the next couple hours. Most of the security teams are already in place and active on duty." She turned to face the Situation desk, where Ensign Martinez was working, then back over at the Lieutenant." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Security Centre – TAC/SC – Lt Will Bush – 12:57) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William walked out into the room, as he did the section chief yelled, this threw William to start with however he realised every one else was as well. It was common for the Commanding officer to receive this treatment but for a security chief it was a bit of a shock. "Security Chief on the deck, Attention!" Walking forward to stand by her side William straightened his uniform and then stood still. “Stand at ease people,” Bush stated turning to listen to Haverstaad. "Sir, most of your Security command staff has not yet reported on board. Until your arrival, Ensign Martinez was in charge until your arrival. We have a couple other Lieutenants’ and a handful of Ensigns beaming over from the Steel Talons and Starbase Geneva within the next couple hours. Most of the security teams are already in place and active on duty." William nodded as Haverstaad gave him all the information as he sensed she had came to an end. He nodded and then turned to the assembled officers. “Right, Ill ask that all senior security personnel to meet in holodeck one at 19:00 for a informal meeting. Chief can you relay that?” William asked the quite pretty young officer. (Reply Haverstaad) “Thank you Chief,” William then turned to the rest of the assembled officers and gave his speech he had planned. He wanted to get over to them straight away that he was there all the time for not just security problems but anything at all. William had found this manner was always the most successful because the team saw him as a friend rather than an adversary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Security Center - Security Squad Chief - Senior Chief Petty Officer Melody Haverstaad - 12:57) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Sir, most of your Security command staff has not yet reported on board. "Thank you Chief," The Security Chief turned, and gave a speech to those security personnel assembled. Melody listened with half an ear, the rest was spent looking at the crew. She had not yet met half the people here, she only knew her squad, and them only for a handful of days. Once the meeting was over, and everyone broke up, Melody turned on her heel, she had senior security officers and squad commanders to round up for a meeting in eight hours. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Shuttlecraft Windsor - Helm - OPS Ensign (sg) Yalta Schafio - 1300) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yalta spend a lot of time in that shuttlecraft, she did knew that her belongings were on board the Boudicca so she had to bring her little self over there. At first, she saw the Starbase, gave them the reason of her being here and gave the okay to continue. Has she did so, her heart pomp with trepidation and excitements. Yalta finally sees the Boudicca and started to make her final approach. “USS Boudicca, this is Shuttlecraft Windsor, requesting to come on board.” (Reply from anyone) “Ensign Yalta Schafio, your new OPS officer!” She said with a smile. He had to admit this new technology was good however he still prefer an old fashioned consol. As he pulled up the schematics to the ship he began to note on a pad areas of importance and how to seal them off and secure them in the minimum time. As William was deep in his coordination the com activated. As he looked around the bridge all the officers seemed to scared to answer, he was the only senior officer on the bridge so William pressed the reply button. =^=USS Boudicca, this is Shuttlecraft Windsor, requesting to come on board, =^= pulling up the arrival details William raised an eyebrow. “This is Chief Of Security Lieutenant Bush, your shuttle is not due for another 2 hours who are you?” William asked since it was a valid question. =^=Ensign Yalta Schafio, your new OPS officer! =^= “Right,” William paused and looked over the crew manifest the Ensign was listed so William activated the com once more. “Why have you arrived before your due time of arrival?” William was always worried about questioning people like this he always feared it would make him a unpopular person. =^=I know… I am 2 hrs early. Sevant looked up when the door chimed. "Come," he said quietly as He put the PADD down. A young woman walked in, wearing Security or Operations yellow. Yalta took several steps forward but didn’t sit on the chair that was in front of the Captain’s desk. Sevant looked back down at his padd, made a couple small changes, then put it on the desk. "Have a seat, lieutenant...?" “Thank you Sir!” Yalta sat, gave a quick look around and return her sight to the captain. The Vulcan flipped leaned back in his chair, "What's your name and position?" “Yalta Schafio, Lieutenant senior, I’m Chief of Operations.” Sevant's eyes darted over to his desktop monitor to confirm the name and position, then nodded. When his attention was once again laid on the officer, he took a few moments to study her. "Im sure, having passed through the ship, you have noticed that our refit was rushed. As ops, you are going to be working closely with engineering at fever pace for the next few days to make sure everything is nominally operational. You understand this, correct?" “I do Sir!” "Good." Sevant said, after a moment. "Then you will coordinate with Commander Grailik, who has been keeping up with the refit since his arrival." Sevant grabbed one of the PADDS, looked at it for a moment, then handed it over. "This was my last official update as to the condition of the ship and her systems." Yalta picked it up and checked it quickly. There was a mountain of work in just a few lines in there. “I see… still a long way to go!” "You most certainly do," Sevant said, as he leaned back again. "Most of engineering and Operations have reported on board, so you shouldn’t lack for manpower. I would give you a chance to settle in, but we simply don't have the time. Report to Grailik and pick up your duties as soon as you are able." “I see… some departments are totally behind schedules. I don’t need much time to settle in, I will get to work right away.” The half-vulcan nodded, then tapped his badge. "Commander Grailik, I have the Chief of Operations coming your way for a quick briefing on the status of the ship." (reply Grailik) "Very well." he closed the connection, then folded his hands together. "Is there anything else, Lieutenant?" “Nothing Sir!” "Dismissed then, Lieutenant." He paused, "And welcome aboard." “Thank you Sir!” Yalta got up and made her way to the door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca, Jefferies Tube 16 J32, FO Commander Grailik, 13:20) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grailik hummed softly as he worked, tricorder in one hand and a depolarizing tool in the other. The engineering and repair crews were finally starting to get use to his 'hands on' style. Realizing that he was determined that the Boudicca would launch on time and that he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty to see that she did. ~Besides, never know when having an intimate knowledge of the ship and her systems might come in handy.~ he thought. Just then his commm-badge chirped. "Grailik here," he said, tapping his badge with the back of one hand. =/\=Commander Grailik, I have the Chief of Operations coming your way for a quick briefing on the status of the ship.=/\= Grailik smiled. "Fabulous," He replied, turning his attention back to his work. "I'm in Jefferies Tube 16 Junction 32. Still working on those pesky structural integrity fields. She found her way there without problem and closing in she heard noises. “Commander Grailik… is that you?” She stop and waited for a reply. (Reply from Grailik) “It’s Lt. Yalta Schafio… the Chief of Operation.” She arrived to the junction. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Jefferies Tube 20 Junction 43 - OPS, Lt Yalta Schafio - 1330) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ah, welcome aboard Lt Schafio," Grailik said seeing the new OPS Officer come into view. "I hope you didn't have any problems finding me." He finished with a grin. "Thank you! I didn't have any problems to find you!" "So, how was your trip to the Boudicca? Uneventful I hope," Grailik asked not taking his eyes off his work. "It was fine! I pilot the shuttle myself for 3 days." "Well, as for the ship," Grailik began, "It's still semi-controled chaos. The warp drive and impulse engines are operating at 100%. The cloaking device is active but the power consumption curve is a bit above normal.. I hope to smooth that out once we are under way. The ships defensive capabilities are also fully operational, though it he tried to fire our phasers full power with the SIF's like they are we'd blow our selves up. The SIF's should be up to 100% by the end of the day. Medical and Science departments are both way behind schedule. I need you to concentrate on those two departments and bring them up to par. Most of the medical equipment, bio-beds and the like, are in cargo bay 1. The science lab equipment is still sitting in cargo bay 16 on Geneva. You'll need to coordinate with Geneva and see that it gets installed." Grailik pulled one arm out of the wall, dropped the tool he was holding and fished around in his tool kit. Pulling out a PADD he handed it over. "This is full list of what still needs to be done. You can keep it if you like, I've already memorized it. As you will see we still have a long way to go to get ready. I expect you to have medical and science squared away before the end of the day." "I know that medical will have in a couple of hours some equipment. I just love cutting through the red tape." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Sick bay – OPS, Lt Yalta Schafio & CMO/COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara– 1339) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yalta grab a nurse and asked her. “Where could I see doctor Domini Alizara?” The nurse pointed to the woman in the corner who was managing the chaos. Domini's ears pricked up when she heard her name and wondered, briefly if it was her new equipment. Yalta walk up to a woman. “You are Dr. Alizara… I’m Lt. Schafio, the new OPS officer.” She extended her hand toward the woman. "A pleasure to meet you. Are you the one in charge of my equipment? And my name is Domini, none of this Alizara stuff, I keep looking around for my mother." She spoke conspiratorially. Yalta gave her a curious look but then return her attention to the subject. “Yes… more or less. Your equipment will arrive in 2 hrs give or take.” "Excellent!" she spoke happily. "That is the first good news I've had all day." "Just needed to get through the red tape! I'm also here for my physical." She smiled. Domini nodded. "As you may see, my biobeds haven't arrived yet, and neighter has your file. Can you tell me about yourself?" She asked, opening a new file. “I’m 27, I’m also Elasian. Never was sick, if we don’t count the normal childhood disease also I had a climbing accident, which resulted in a few broken bones. My leg and my arm.” Domini took notes. "How do you feel right now?" “Fine, a bit tired… travelled all day, didn’t sleep much yesterday!” Domini frowned. "We don't even have an emergency yet and you are already abusing your body. You need to eat and sleep properly." She spoke, picking up the tricorder. "How are you feeling mentally?" She asked, scanning the young Ops officer. “I did much worst a long time ago… mentally, the thought of having to modify and rearrange OPS to my satisfaction will be a challenge but nothing that I can’t deal with. Didn’t meet the crew yet, I wonder who they are. Just saw my quarters and there’s a serious need in the decoration department. That’s what is in my head right about now.” Domini laughed. "I hear you! I looked at mine and just left to come here. Ah, well, hopefully we will have some time on the journey to work on them." She finished her scan. "I don't see anything wrong with you that is apparent. I'd like you to stop back by in a few days when I have the rest of the equipment, and we'll finished he scan then." she smiled. "I look forward to working with you." “And me with you! You reminded me that I am starving.” "Me too. Would you like to come into my office and replicate lunch?" She asked. "Maybe get to know each other a bit?" “That would be great! Thanks for the invite… next time it will be mine.” Domini smiled and led the way into her office, where there was a decent sized desk, and two chairs. She planned to keep the desk and ditch the chairs at the earliest opportunity. "What would you like?" She asked, standing next to the replicator. Yalta followed and sat in one of the chairs. “That chair is very comfortable. Food, 3 pepper steak, and some vegetables. A fruit salad for the dessert.” "I'm glad you think so" Domini laughed. "I just transferred in from Starfleet Academy and I miss my desk chair there." she relayed Yalta's order, then her own "spinach, chicken and parmesan tortallini with breadsticks and a side salad of mixed greens, and a chocolate milkshake." Domini grinned and she took the food out of the replicator, then placed it on the table. "So… tell me about yourself?" She asked, taking a bite of the salad. “That smell so good!” Yalta lick her lips. “I’m from Karsi Prime, my mother died when I was young. It’s my father and my grandmother who raised me. I don’t have any siblings.” She cut a piece and started to eat. The piece melted in her mouth. "I come from Betazed, my mother and step-father raised me, and I have a younger sister who is a classical musician on Earth. I guess my raising was pretty typical... went to an Academy to learn to be a mind-healer, went to University, went to the Hospital for my medical degree, then to the Academy.... I guess I'm normal, in most ways." She grinned. "Not that a Betazoid COULD be normal.." she laughed. "Many people find our customs to be strange. “We have a saying on Elas. Endurance is everything. Education wise, physical activities was even more important has the mind. We are brought up to see the practical side. My father was an Engineer and is retired now and my mother was a translator, encryption codes was her speciality. We don’t have much in customs or religion.” "That is exactly the opposite of the ways things are on Betazed, you know. We concentrate on the mind mostly." She smiled and took a bite of bread. "So where have you been posted?" “Let me see, from the academy I was assign to the USS Damas, I was there for 4 yrs. After that, I was transferred to the USS Halifax until this transfer to the USS Boudicca.” "You didn't move around a lot, did you? I went to the Flying Dutchman for a few years, then to the Academy. I just had to get out in space again. And this is guaranteed to be an interesting trip." She spoke, finishing up her lunch and putting it back into the replicator. “I hope so too!” She push away her clean plat and the empty dish where the fruit salad was. "What made you decide to come here?" Domini asked on a whim. “There was an opening for a Chief of Operation, I applied for it. It also felt like it was the right time to change pace.” Yalta got up and stretch a little. “That chair is too comfortable that it is dangerous!” Domini grinned and stood up "Well, I guess I should get back out to supervise that chaos." she smiled. “Yes… and I have my own chaos to deal with! Thanks for the lunch!” Domini followed Yalta out into sickbay, and began to speak with her crews. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Cargobay - Ensign Sparek - 1345) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sparek picked up the largest piece of shuttle hull. It wasn't all that large, perhaps a metre at it widest. It said a lot for the force of the explosion. Scans had shown no residue of explosives on the wreckage but that was hardly conclusive. It would be easy to plant something in or on the engines and so have all the evidence completely destroyed when the thing went off. There was however some evidence. The hull plating he was now holding. It should be heavier. Much heavier. Sparek exerted a little pressure and it cracked. No Vulcan was that strong and Sparek was pretty average when it came to his physique. He had been able to do that becuse the whole structure of the metal was honeycombed with holes. Something had eaten away at the metal and it was his job to find out what. But first time to get checked out himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Ensign Sparek - 1405) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sparek walked into Sickbay scratching his arm. "Indeed I am Doctor" he smiled back. "What gave it away, the long white hair or the devastating good looks?" "You crush me Doctor" Sparek replied. "I'm all ready for my check up." "I feel perfectly fine" he said. "Apart from a rash onmy arm. It itches but seems fine." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO/COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara & Ensign Sparek- 1405)   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Domini  turned around and saw a cute vulcan walk into her sickbay ~Now where did that come from?~  She asked herself, batting those thoughts right out of her head. ~You know, if i didn't know better i would think i was in phase.~  She smiled at the Ensign. "You must be Sparek."  She spoke, smiling.   "Indeed I am Doctor" he smiled back. "What gave it away, the long white hair or the devastating good looks?"   ~He's flirting with you!!~ She thought happily. "Neihter.  You were just the only vulcan ensign that i know of. "  She smiled, then gestured him over to stand underneath one of the monitors.  "You crush me Doctor" Sparek replied. "I'm all ready for my check up."   "As you can see we don't have biobeds right now."  She spoke with a grin, holding up her tricorder.  "How do you feel?"  she asked, walking around him and scanning him with her precise medical instrument.   "I feel perfectly fine" he said. "Apart from a rash on my arm. It itches but seems fine." "Rash?"  She said with a frown.  "Lemme see that."  she spoke, making him take off his uniform jacket. "Huh."  She spoke, looking it over, then scanning it with the tricorder. "The tricorder says that there is nothing there."    "I can see it." Sparek replied. "You can see it. It definitely itches so it is there. Maybe its just an allergic reaction."   She put the tricorder into her pocket, then held one hand a few inches above his arm and concentrating.   Sparek raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing" he asked. "You have the most advanced medical equipment ii history at your fingertips and instead you appear to relying on what I believe on earth is called witchcraft. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence"    "Huh."  She spoke a minute later.  "Voodoo science it may be, but that is not alive."  She spoke sincerely, grabbing him by his good arm and dragging him over to the imaging scanner. She then registered what he said. "Betazoids, well.... Betazoid Healers can sometimes get a sense when things are alive. Mostly it's just mind-healing, but my Step-Dad taught me." She spoke, fiddling around with the scanner. "When did that start?" She asked him, picking up a datapad and inputting the data. "Did it happen before or after the shuttle craft accident? Did you see it before you got on the shuttle? What about before you  beamed out?"    "I just noticed it on the way here" Sparek replied when he could get a word in.  "It only started to itch then though the rash could have been there from before or after the explosion.    She grabbed the hand he had been scratching with and put it underneath the scanner and whistled. "Will you look at that."  she spoke,  letting him see the teeny robots that were swarming all over his fingers. "where did they come from?"   "What the" Sparek said before he caught himself. He snatched his hand away from the scanner and looked at it. Nothing. he put it back in the scanner. No doubt about it. He was infested.   "It looks like you deserve an apology" he said to the doctor. "Dr Voodoo or not you were right. I think we better tell the captain. If these are what destroyed the shuttle then we are in trouble because they are now on the Boudicca" Domini sighed for a moment. "Where did they come from?" She asked. "What we need in an engineer. You are right, we should go tell the Captain." Then Domini thought better of it. "The last thing you should do is track all over the ship with those on you. Why didn't the biofilter get them when you beamed out?" Domini hit her comm badge. "Dr. Alizara to Captain Sevant. Could you please come to sickbay immediately? There is a small problem." She spoke. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Shuttle Waterloo - Helm - Ensign Saim Enaj - Asst CEO Eng - 14.10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saim had made her way to Geneva as soon as she finished at Starfleet Academy. She had now procured a shuttle and was making her way alone to her first ever posting with Starfleet. She was full of anticipation as she came into view of the Boudicca. It was beautiful, her new home. She could not wait to get on board and getting to know every last little detail of the ship. First she would chuck her things into her quarters and then of course send a message to her brothers, which she had promised to do as soon as she got on board. Of course she could not give any specifics or the name of the ship because of the current climate. Saim thought lovingly of her two brothers, Pal and Tenkin. Pal would be on board the merchant ship and Tenkin behind his desk on Bajor. When in range Saim commed the Boudicca. "This is Ensign Saim Enaj requesting clearance to dock" (reply Bridge) "Thank you Boudicca". Saim docked her shuttle and stepped out onto the ship. Her first step on her first assignment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush – 14:10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William stood silently at his station; he had ordered his teams to run drills on the ship whilst they were still not on the shake down. As he stood silently the com link activated. =^= This is Ensign Saim Enaj requesting clearance to dock, =^= William paused for a minute as he read over the crew manifest and expected arrivals. “Ensign this is Chief Of Security Lieutenant Bush. Please dock in shuttle bay one, =^=Thank you Boudicca, =^= William went back to his duties and continued to watch the crews check in. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Shuttle Bay – ACEO – Ensign Mirt Rolnn – 14:10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mirt stepped off the shuttle along with a few other new arrivials. He spent several days earlier going over the technical specs of the ship. He studied untill he believed he could navigate the corridors blind. He left the shuttlebay and headed off to find his quarters. Going by his memory of what he studied he took one wrong turn after another and managed to find himself on the Marine deck, five decks from where he should be. Mirt has a vivid memory of the last time he ran into a group of Marines and he did not want to go through that again. (reply any Marine who wants to taunt a lost Bolian) Mirt quickly made his way to the nearest turbolift and pulled out his PADD. "Right, deck 18" He said. "This turbolift is malfunctioning" The computer announced. Not having his tools to fix it he left the turbolift and went to a Jefferies Tube hatch and began to climb. His small bag sometimes got in the way but it was managable. As he climbed he saw someone working. "Oh, hello" He said. He then noticed the rank on his uniform "You're Commander Grailik right?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO/COUNS Dr. Domini Alizara- 1416) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Domini nearly fainted with relief when she saw the Captain. "You requested my presence, Doctor?" Domini nodded and showed the Captain the image that she had captured and explained. "I wanted him to come in in case he had suffered any radiation damage from the explosion, then he mentioned a rash, but the tricorder didn't show anything n it. So we looked on here," She spoke, leaving out the bit about her voodoo doctoring, as Sparek called it, "And there are these tiny robots. My guess is that he's been leaving them all over the ship. They may be what took apart his shuttle. I don't know what to do about them Sir, or how to get rid of them. But my guess would be that the Boudicca is infested." Domini concluded, then waited for Sevant to answer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Sickbay - CSciO Ensign Sparek - 1416) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I don't know what to do about them Sir, or how to get rid of them. But my guess would be that the Boudicca is infested." Domini concluded, then waited for Sevant to answer. (Sevant) "it is a possibility, sir" Sparek admitted. "More than that it is a probability. I have checked the wreckage of the shuttle I was able to recover and it was not just a simple bomb. In fact it may not have been a bomb at all. The evidence so far is pointing to a complete systems failure." (Sevant) "The hull had been eaten away by something" Sparek replied with a nod. "That is well within the capabilities of current nanobot technology though of course I have yet to check out exactly what these are capable of. It is also possible that the same systems failure caused the bio filter to malfunction and allow these things to be beam aboard with me. Or if they have been given sufficient intelligence or intstruction they could have disabled the bio-filters deliberately." (Sevant) "I know, sir" agreed Sparek. "There are a lot of ifs and buts to this thing. I can get rid of these things but it is going to take a little time. They could and probably have spread throughout the whole ship by now. We can't afford not to assume that. That means a full ship wide scan of every part of the ship, every nook and cranny, inside and out. As we scan we beam out the discovered nanobots." (Sevant) "I estimate four hours and seventeen minutes" Sparek said. "While we scan I suggest no-one be allowed on or off the ship though if necessary we can put them in isolation. At the same time the doctor and her staff will need to examine everyone aboard. And I mean everyone. if these nanobots are smart then they will burrow inside the crew. Or at least as many of the crew as they can. If they go deep enough it is possible the ships internal sensors may not detect them. They will not be able to hide from a full medical scan" (Sevant) "I cannot estimate the damage to the ship" said Sparek. "Everything will need to be checked otherwise this may not turn into a shakedown cruise but shake apart one. After all that the ship should be clean of them. That is if they did come aboard with me. There are a lot of other people who have come aboard in the past few days. Maybe they brought them aboard. Knowingly or unknowingly" Sparek paused and waited for the captain to give his orders. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Sickbay - Capt Sevant - 1416) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You requested my presence, Doctor?" The Doctor nodded, then gestured him over to take a look at an image. "I wanted him to come in in case he had suffered any radiation damage from the explosion, then he mentioned a rash, but the tricorder didn't show anything n it. So we looked on here, And there are these tiny robots. My guess is that he's been leaving them all over the ship. They may be what took apart his shuttle. I don't know what to do about them Sir, or how to get rid of them. But my guess would be that the Boudicca is infested." Sevant looked at her for a few moments, then turned his attention fully to the picture. ~Nanites?~ He reached up and tapped his badge, "First Officer and Operations to Sickbay." NRPG: At this time, Enaj is not yet on board... But I can see where an ACEO would be mighty useful about this time... (reply: Grailik, Ops) "This is what caused the shuttle to explode?" Sevant asked, turning his attention to the Science Officer. "it is a possibility, sir" Sparek admitted. "More than that it is a probability. I have checked the wreckage of the shuttle I was able to recover and it was not just a simple bomb. In fact it may not have been a bomb at all. The evidence so far is pointing to a complete systems failure." "Then, what is it that happened, exactly?" he asked. "The hull had been eaten away by something. That is well within the capabilities of current nanobot technology though of course I have yet to check out exactly what these are capable of. It is also possible that the same systems failure caused the bio filter to malfunction and allow these things to be beam aboard with me. Or if they have been given sufficient intelligence or instruction they could have disabled the bio-filters deliberately." Sevant considered that for several moments, "There are a lot of coincidences, and assumptions, if all that is true." "I know, sir" agreed Sparek. "There are a lot of ifs and buts to this thing. I can get rid of these things but it is going to take a little time. They could and probably have spread throughout the whole ship by now. We can't afford not to assume that. That means a full ship wide scan of every part of the ship, every nook and cranny, inside and out. As we scan we beam out the discovered nanobots." "Find out," the Captain said shortly. "How long for a full ships and systems scan?" "I estimate four hours and seventeen minutes" Sparek said. They will not be able to hide from a full medical scan" Sevant digested that for several silent moments, "I will do what I can," he said by way of response. He cupped his hands behind him, and looked at Sparek dead on. "Estimated damage, assuming these... Nanites... Have gotten through and infested the ship?" "I cannot estimate the damage to the ship. Everything will need to be checked otherwise this may not turn into a shakedown cruise but shake apart one. After all that the ship should be clean of them. That is if they did come aboard with me. There are a lot of other people who have come aboard in the past few days. Maybe they brought them aboard. Knowingly or unknowingly" Sevant nodded at that, "Coordinate with Engineering and Operations." he said, "And keep me apprised." He turned his head to the doctor, "Work up a regimen for scanning all personnel, do what you must. I want this situation cleared up." (reply: Sparek, Grailik, Alizara) A few moments later, Sevant's badge beeped. =^=Bush to Captain Sevant, Sir I have a situation down here. A team of mine is trapped in the cargo bay and they have been rendered unconscious. I'm working with Ensign Enaj to get to them but we may be facing a security breech sir,=^= Sevant quirked an eyebrow at the Scientist, "Get to work quickly," he added to Sparek before tapping his own badge and opening a channel. "It is likely we do, Chief, Get in touch with the ACSO for details. In the mean time..." he paused, Enaj.. Enaj... That name was on the roster, someone who hadn't yet reported in yet. "No one gets on or off this ship, Chief, all incoming personnel are to be rerouted to Geneva, understood?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush - 1420) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William stood at his station things were finally starting to come together. His security teams were at 99% and he had ordered them to start getting used to the ship and her systems. William ran his hands over the security consol and read off the security reports as the section chiefs reported in. William glazed at one of the section chief reports Williams had not responded. “Ensign Williams report in!” William commanded over the com. The link remained silent on the other end, William felt himself feeling more agitated. “Williams report in! Now god damn it!” William stated growling down the com. William’s hands flew over the com he opened a link to the other teams. “Ensign Williams team has not checked in, O’Malley move to Williams patrol route and check in,” =^= Aye sir, =^= the reply came. William stood with his hands resting on the consol. Williams attention was drawn to the turbo lift opening behind him in walked a new ensign he had not met yet. William smiled at him and spoke. “Ensign Enaj, I presume?” (Reply Enaj) “The Captain is down at sickbay, ensign. He was called away so I suggest you report to the First Officer Commander Grailik and once the Captain has returned speak to him to make yourself known,” The com link activated once more. =^= Chief, we have a problem down here you should see, =^= William raised an eyebrow. “Could you be more specific Ensign O’Malley?” =^= Well chief I think I know what happened to the other team but I doubt you will be too happy, =^= “On route now Ensign,” William stated nodding to the other security officer on deck. “Ensign Enaj, fancy a trip to my security team?” William asked. (Reply Enaj) "Good, I don’t know what is going on but everything is starting to go hey wire,” (Reply Enaj) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Cargo Bay – TAC/SC – Lt William Bush – 14:20) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William stood hand on his phaser as the Captain replied down the com link. =^="It is likely we do, Chief, Get in touch with the ACSO for details. In the mean time..." he paused, Enaj.. Enaj... That name was on the roster, someone who hadn't yet reported in yet. "No one gets on or off this ship, Chief, all incoming personnel are to be rerouted to Geneva, understood?" “Aye Captain, I shall return to the bridge and begin quarantine” William nodded to the Security officer. “Get them out and to sickbay,” William said pointing to the security officers piled in the cargo bay. The security officer nodded and William turned to the engineer. “Are you done Enaj?” (Reply Enaj) “Right we need to get to the bridge, the ship is infested with ninites,” William stated pausing. ~ How the hell did ninites get aboard? ~ William thought to himself. “We need to seal this ship up, captain has ordered no body on or off,” (Reply Enaj) “Shall we then?” William stated in a rhetorical manner, as he began to run down the corridor he need to get to the bridge. As he reached the turbo lift will tapped his com badge. “Lt Bush to Ensign Sparek, Ensign what are we facing here? What procedures can I use to seal off the ship? Will force fields be effective?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – Eng - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1420) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Ensign Enaj, I presume?” "Aye Sir. Reporting for duty." Saim had already chucked her gear in her quarters and sent off a quick message to her brothers. “The Captain is down at sickbay, ensign. He was called away so I suggest you report to the First Officer Commander Grailik and once the Captain has returned speak to him to make yourself known,” Then the Lieutenant badge squealed. "Yes sir." Saim then grinned. "What a welcome." “Good, I don’t know what is going on but everything is starting to go hey wire,” "Well, that's my job. Sorting out the wires." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Jefferies Tube 20 Junction 43 - OPS, Lt Yalta Schafio - 1420) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yalta never was a squeamish individual. She help out the FO just like the newly arrived ACEO Ensign Mirt Rolnn. They did the small talk things has they adjusted, fiddle, calibrated when a message came through. =^=First Officer and Operations to Sickbay.=^= Yalta look at the First Officer who seem to say in his head. ~Now... What could be going wrong now?~ They followed him outside and made there way to Sickbay. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca, Jefferies Tube 20 J43, FO Commander Grailik, 14:20) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grailik hummed merrily as he worked, both arms immersed in the wall manipulating a different tool in each hand. He heard the sounds of someone moving along the narrow crawlspace, heading in his direction. He continued working, pulling one arm out to switch tools before sticking it back into the maze of circuitry and power conduits. "Ah, welcome aboard Lt Schafio," Grailik said seeing the new OPS Officer come into view. "I hope you didn't have any problems finding me." He finished with a grin. (Reply Schafio) "So, how was your trip to the Boudicca? Uneventful I hope," Grailik asked not taking his eyes off his work. (Reply Schafio) "Well, as for the ship," Grailik began, "It's still semi-controled chaos. I expect you to have medical and science squared away before the end of the day." (Reply Schafio) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Bridge - Eng - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1421) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saim shut down the transporters and shuttle bays. On her own intiative she did a quick systems check and integrity check. Everything looked okay for now apart from a few week spots in the integrity of the hull. "Ensign Sparek. This is Ensign Enaj. I have located some weak areas in deck 11 and 15. Perhaps you should start there with getting rid of these nanites. Is it okay if I go down there to start repairs?" (reply Sparek) "Lieutenant," Saim said turning to the security officer, "I have shut down the transporters and shuttle bays. If there is nothing else I would like to go to engineering to prepare for any neccessary repairs." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Boudicca - Sickbay - CSciO Sparek - 1422) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Lt Bush to Ensign Sparek, Ensign what are we facing here? What procedures can I use to seal off the ship? Will force fields be effective?” "Sparek here" Sparek replied to the question. "All I can say at the moment sir is what could be true not what is. We have just found out that the ship may have been infected with nanites. If these things are what caused my shuttle to explode forcefields will not be enough as they can just eat their way through the very fabric of the shop. I'm going to scan and sweep the ship clean with the sensors and transporters but who knows what damage they may do in the meantime. Everyone aboard needs to report to sickbay but we are going to have to stagger that or the good doctor will be swamped. Plus I don't want them coming in until their part of the ship has been scanned. It also wwould be a good idea for the crew to move around the ship as little as possible until the scan is complete. I'll keep you up to date with what I find out" (Reply Bush) Sparek turned to face the doctor. "Well doc it look like you are going to have a very busy first day" he said. "The place might get a bit crowded but it would be a help if I could use one of the consoles in here to start and monitor the scan." (reply Domini) "Thanks doc" Sparek said. "I'll first scan here and then spread out from sickbay to the various parts of the ship. That way we can be sure that nothing in here is going to give out on us because of these nanites and the people coming in aren't travelling through an unscanned part of the ship. After I start the scan you better check me out first so I can get back to it." (reply Domini) "And yourself Doc" replied Sparek. "Can't be too careful can we. Infesting you with parasites isn't exactly the best way to impress you" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Cargo Bay One – TAC/SC – Lieutenant William Bush – 14:26) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William continued to run down the corridor as he came to meet his other ensign in charge of Charlie team. Nodding the Ensign began to speak. “Chief, Delta team is trapped behind a force field. They seem to have been rendered unconscious,” William moved forward to look into the Cargo bay. As he moved closer the doors continued to seal and then open again repeatedly. William held his head back from the doors. “Ensign O’Malley, were the doors like this permanently?” “No Chief they were sealed but we forced them and then we saw the team at the far side. A couple of seconds later the doors started this,” William shook his head. “Ensign Enaj, can you get the power to these doors shut off?” (Reply Enaj) “Good get to it, O’Malley go with him if anyone comes near you give them a warning if they are hostile neutralise,” William stated not knowing what was going on but knowing his teams were under some form of intelligent assault. At the moment the perpetrators were still unknown but he wasn’t going to take any chances. William tapped his badge. "Bush to Captain Sevant, Sir I have a situation down here. A team of mine is trapped in the cargo bay and they have been rendered unconscious. Im working with Ensign Enaj to get to them but we may be facing a security breech sir,” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Cargo Bay One – Eng - Ensign Saim Enaj – 14:26) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saim listened in intently as the Lieutenant started speaking with one of his security officers. “Chief, Delta team is trapped behind a force field. They seem to have been rendered unconscious.” “Ensign O’Malley, were the doors like this permanently?” “No Chief they were sealed but we forced them and then we saw the team at the far side. A couple of seconds later the doors started this,” “Ensign Enaj, can you get the power to these doors shut off?” "I think so." “Good get to it, O’Malley go with him if anyone comes near you give them a warning if they are hostile neutralise.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Capt Sevant - 1427) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Lt. Yalta Schafio reporting Sir!" Sevant nodded, "Doctor, Ensign, give Lieutenant Schafio a quick rundown while we await the others." (reply: Ops, CMO, ACSO, any) Sevant turned his attention to the magnifier as the matter was once again described. His face was a mask, but he was not a happy man. He wrapped his arms behind him and turned his attention once again to the speaking officers, in time to notice Grailik and one officer he didn't yet recognize exit a Jeffries tube. He gestured quietly to listen, and turned his attention back. Once it was over, Grailik moved around the small group of officers and said, "So, The Ensign brought his science project with him eh?" He then tapped his badge, "Grailik to engineering. Erect a level 10 containment field around the warp core and cloaking device immediately," =/\=Level 10 containment field established.=/\= "If these buggers get into the warp core we'll all be sucking vacuum, Oh Captain Sevant, allow me to introduce Ensign Rolnn Mirt reporting aboard as ACEO," Sevant turned his attention briefly to the ACEO, "We will do this more officially once this issue has been resolved. In the mean time, welcome aboard." (reply: Mirt) "These are Star Fleet design," The FO said suddenly, "Sigma 9 series if I'm not mistaken. The same type used in Marine BDU armor. Sevant looked back over, and frowned as he looked at them. He knew Marine weapons, and once pointed out, enough of the underlying technology that made it up. Security BDU's didn't have the same Nanite repair system as Marine armor, it wasn't something he had actively run across since the Academy. He peered at it, and individual characteristics became apparent. "Modified then," he finally said. "They were programmed not to hop their programmed BDU's." He turned to Mirt, "Have someone contact a Marine Armorer, or the closest thing we have aboard, they are well trained in the control of these things. At the very least, they should know how to put a stop to their own gear." He frowned, "Mr Sparek and Enaj are already at work, catch yourself up on their efforts once you have finished with the Marines." NRPG: Sparek and Enaj have you invited in at 50 after, so that does leave you plenty of time, unless Straton bites you in half... *chuckles* (Reply Mirt) "Any other problems, or concerns?" (reply: any, if desired) Sevant looked around, "Very well, look alive." (reply: all) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca – Bridge – TAC/SC – Lt. William Bush – 14:30) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William walked out onto the bridge and moved straight to his consol. tapping several buttons. William activated a security alert, with in a few seconds his panel was lighting up with confirmations of alert. “Bush to all security forces, secure all points of exit from Boudicca. Transporter rooms, Shuttle bays and all environmental suits. Use of minimal force to prevent exit is approved,” William stated, he emphasised the point about minimal force he did not want the crew getting killed on the first day but however he could not let any one off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca, Jefferies Tube 20 J42, FO Commander Grailik, 14:30) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grailik was nearly complete with his current task when he heard the distinct sound of someone crawling up toward him. (Reply Rolnn) "Then why are you crawling through the jefferies tubes? Lost?" (Reply Rolnn) Just as Grailik was opening his mouth to reply his comm-badge went off, Captain Sevant calling him and OPS Chief to Sickbay. ~What now?~ Grailik thought as he acknowledged the call while finishing up his repairs and close the access port. Sickbay, FO, Commander Grailik, 14:30) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grailik and the new ACEO crawled out the jefferies tube in a back corner of sickbay and moved up to where Sevant was standing with two other officers whom Grailik recognized as the CMO and ACSO. Grailik listened carefully to what was being said. "So," Grailik said, as he walked around Sevant and Sparek to have a look at the naniets under the magnifier. "The Ensign brought his science project with him eh?" Grailik smiled and nodded a greeting toward the CMO and ACSO neither of whom he'd actually met yet, before turning his attention back to the naniets. He slapped his comm-badge quickly. "Grailik to engineering. Erect a level 10 containment field around the warp core and cloaking device immediately," He said quickly. =/\=Level 10 containment field established.=/\= Engineering replied a few second latter. "If these buggers get into the warp core we'll all be sucking vacuum," Grailik explained, his face still buried in the scanner. "Oh Captain Sevant, allow me to introduce Ensign Rolnn Mirt reporting aboard as ACEO," Grailik said, waving toward Mirt without looking up from the magnifier. He typed in a few commands into the magnifier to get a better look at something familiar. "We ran into each other in the jefferies tubes." Again Grailik altered the controls on the medical magnifier. "These are Star Fleet design," Grailik announced suddenly. "Sigma 9 series if I'm not mistaken. The same type used in Marine BDU amour. "Yes sir" Mirt answered "Have you reported in to Captain Sevant yet Ensign?" "Not yet, I would shortly" "Then why are you crawling through the jefferies tubes? Lost?" "No, the turbolift was malfuctioning, I would have tried to fix it but I don't have my tools." ~and I dont want to go back through the marine deck~ Just as Grailik was opening his mouth to reply his comm-badge went off, Captain Sevant calling him and OPS Chief to Sickbay. ~What now?~ Grailik thought as he acknowledged the call while finishing up his repairs and close the access port. "Your with me Ensign," Grailik said to the Ensign. as he began to crawl toward sickbay. "Yes sir" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Capt Sevant - 1445) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sevant strode onto the bridge, everyone had already been alerted and was working either at stopping or monitoring the situation. For a crew not even fully assembled yet, so far everything had gone on remarkably calm and with few problems. He walked over to the center seat, and looked at it for a few moments like he was looking at an old friend... Or worst enemy. This hadn't been his chair, the last time he was on board. He shook away the trepidation and said out-loud, "Open a channel to Geneva, and prepare a data file with the information we have thus far discovered on the Nanite infestation." A few seconds passed while Operations worked to assemble the info, then she said "Channel open." Sevant gazed impassively to Geneva's control center, "This is Captain Sevant of the Boudicca. I am hereby declaring the Boudicca a non-medical quarantine zone. We have a Nanite infestation, and will be moving away from the Station post-haste. I am uploading data on the characteristics to be looked for, just in case you have been 'exposed' yourselves. Understood?" Several seconds passed while the Lieutenant looked at another screen, then back again. "Understood, the Senior Staff will be informed and all incoming crew-members will be halted." Sevant nodded briskly, "Boudicca out." He turned on his heel, "Move us directly away from Geneva, 164 mark 10, thrusters only. Give us five-hundred thousand kilometers between us and any other vessel." The Conn officer nodded, and pushed a couple buttons. "Heading 164 mark 10, thrusters only, course plotted." "Make it so." The ship slowly started to move, Sevant only hoped that she wasn't dragging herself under her own power to her grave. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Sparek - 1450) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scanning the ship had turned out to be harder than Sparek had thought. His idea at first had been to set the scanners to automatically check for nanites so any that were found were just beamed into oblivion. A simple setup which he had thought the ship's computer could handle all by itself once he had set up the parameters. Only it wasn't turning out to be quite so simple. What was making things a lot more harder was the ability of the nanites to think and adapt. Somehow they had obviously become aware they were being scanned for and had begun adapting to the scans, making themselves haarder to track. That meant Sparek had to constantly tweak the sensors to keep that one step ahead of the damn things. He would have liked it to have been several steps ahead but the nanites were just too tricky. They were also all over the place. If he had brought them aboard then they had been very busy reproducing themselves since then because the Boudicca was infested. Sparek just hoped they had been too busy doing that to get on with damaging the ship. "Ensign Sparek" a voice cut in from his comm badge " This is Ensign Enaj. I have located some weak areas in deck 11 and 15. Perhaps you should start there with getting rid of these nanites. Is it okay if I go down there to start repairs?" Sparek quickly checked that area. "Ensign Enaj" he replied. "Sparek here. That area is showing nanite activity. Lots of it in fact. If you want to go down I will lock my scanners onto your comm badge. That way I can scan and remove any nanites in the area you pass through. That way you won't spread any inadvertently." <> "Ensign Sparek, I heard you may need some help scanning the ship?" said a voice. Sparek turned to look at the new arrival. An engineer. Thank god for that. he really could use the help. "I sure could" he told the newcomer. "Grab an available console. I've got my hands full just adapting the scanners to the nanites litttle hide and seek games. I can handle the internal scans. What I'm concerned about though is the outside of the ship. Namely the hull. If these things are what destroyed my shuttle then they have a knack of honeycombing the hull until it is too weak to cope. Thats needs checking urgently and since you are the engineer you should be able to spot something like that better than me. Okay?" << reply Mirt >> "Great" grinned Sparek. "Let's get to work" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ USS Boudicca - Bridge - Ensign Saim Enaj - 1450) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ensign Sparek" a voice cut in from his comm badge " This is Ensign Enaj. Saim made her way to those decks and started work on the hull. Everything seemed to be fairly easy to patch up and she was done in no time. With time on her hands she thought she would go to Engineering and check everything was in order. Then maybe she would go and formly meet the Captain. Who knows though. Something else might pop up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - ACEO Ensign Mirt Rolnn - 1452) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ensign Sparek, I heard you may need some help scanning the ship?" said a voice. Mirt said "Great" grinned Sparek. "Let's get to work" "I have an idea" Mirt spoke (reply Sparek) "Well, the sensors of the ship cant detect the small weak spots in the hull, by the time we can detect them the spots are far too weak and we must abandon the area. Also there is another problem, the ships sensors are on the ship and thus could be damaged by the nanites if they are that smart" (reply Sparek) "what we need is an independant sensor platform to operate, My idea is to take a shuttle or two, scan them and make sure they are 'clean' and use them to scan the ship. We can also modify their sensors to detect the hull weak points more efficiently, plus a shuttle can get in close"
