After so long shadowing their prey, fingers were becoming itchy, action was needed. Commander Tempak was sitting in the centre chair in a pensive mood, his hand to the side of his face as the sensor readouts came in one by one. “What are they doing”, said the Commander. The Romulan at tactical turned to face his superior with a quizzical look upon his face. “I`m not sure Commander”, said Varak, the Romulan tactical officer. “They are re-positioning two of their ships, the Nautilus & the Mithrandir have changed formation” Tempak stood up from his chair. “The cloak IS fully functional?”, he asked turning to another of the bridge crew. “Yes Commander”, came the reply. Tempak sat again to review the sensor data somewhat relieved to know the operational status of their cloak. His relief however, was to be short lived. “Their comms signatures have changed Commander, they have switched frequencies & the trailing vessels have again reformed”, said Varak, at which point Commander Tempak then ordered a full diagnostic on the cloak. “It`s as though they have seen us, but that can`t be”, he said. The rest of the bridge crew fell silent then as the commander returned to the console at his side to reassess their situation. A warning klaxon then sounded suddenly at the tactical station & Varak was immediately on it as the Commander turned startled towards him. “What is it!!”. He shouted. “They have seen us Commander, they have deployed some form of sensor net & we have tripped it”, said Varak. Commander Tempak then turned to the viewscreen & then back to his personal console. “Shields up, lower the cloak & bring all disrupters to bear, ready all weapons to target the lead ship on my order”, he ordered & all at once the once silent Romulan bridge erupted into organised chaos as it`s officers went from console to console carrying out their commanders orders. “Weapons are online & ready commander”, said Varak, “the lead ship is acquired & targeted, the quantum singularity drive is fully operational & online”, he added. Commander Tempak wasted no time at all. “Fire all forward disrupters”, he cried & all at once the weapons flew to slam into the federation ships flanks & it`s port warp nacelle. The Federation vessel returned fire imediately taking the Tek`Whan`s shields to fifty percent, her inertial dampers & two of her forward disrupters offline. The crew jolted suddenly as their dampening field failed. Varak hit the console with his head as a result, blood oozing from a resulting cut to fall onto the tactical console. “We have lost power to the inertial dampers commander, we have minimal capacity on the forward disruptor banks & our shields have been compromised, I recommend a tactical withdrawal”, said Varak. “We cannot win this fight, they are too many” Tempak turned aggressively to face the young Romulan, a look of anger upon his face. “Turn & run”, he shouted enraged at his suggestion. Then turning to the viewscreen again he ordered a full volley of torpedoes against any of the Starfleet vessels in range. The torpedoes flew with deadly accuracy, hitting two of the federation ships broadside, but none of the hits slowed the ships. Commander Tempak turned again, this time to helm. “Full power to the quantum singularity drive, NOW”, he shouted & the Warbird instantly leapt ahead of all of the federation ships. The federation vessels of course immediately gave chase, the Nautilus & the Mithrandir both engaging high warp in a failed attempt to jump ahead of the ailing Warbird. The Paladin then engaged maximum emergency warp & immediately began gaining on the diminishing target. More photon torpedoes were fired from all of the ships. Two made contact, one taking out the quantum singularity drive to cause the IRW Tek`Whan to suddenly fall to impulse directly ahead of the approaching Starfleet ships. The Romulan bridge was now alive with activity as they attempted in vain to bring the drive & the shields back online. Their rear disruptors opened fire on the Paladin, but their reduced power were little more than stabs at her superior shields. Fire broke out on two of the consoles as further phaser hits scored on the striken Romulan ship. Then she ground to a sudden lumbering halt. The Romulan crew fell silent as they suddenly realised their impending predicament. “Wipe the computer data banks of all relevant information, ready the self destruct on my mark”, said Commander Tempek. “We cannot allow any of the data we have to fall into Starfleet hands, they cannot know of our mission”, he added as the crew attempted to quickly erase their computer core of all sensitive information. “Commander, we must surrender, wipe the computer core but we cannot destroy the Tek`Whan”, said Varak, “we can gain nothing by this act”, he added. Then all of a sudden, another volley of photon torpedoes immediately took the decision out of their hands as all power failed on board & a hoard of Starfleet fliers stormed around the striken vessel. “Commander, we have multiple boardings on decks five & eight”, said an alarmed Romulan crewman. Commander Tempak then sat in the command chair beaten. “Then we have no choice”, he said. “Send out a distress call to any Romulan vessels in the area”, he ordered. “Inform them that we have been engaged in an unprovoked firefight & that we have been boarded by Starfleet personel”, he added as the Romulan officers quickly took up personal weapons in readiness for a possible skirmish. (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Paladin - Bridge - 2O/Chief Ops Lt. Calvin Capps - 1245) Eva leaned back in her chair and waited for the officers to arrive. She looked at Capps at OPS. "have a second company of Marines ready to transport over in case the Colonel needs reinforcements, and make arrangements for all wounded to be transported to sickbay." Calvin now had a full board of activities he was having to coordinate between. First he pushed in a command to open a channel once again to the Marines coordinator. "Third Lt. please stand by your next company of Marines by order of Captain Straton." Half a second later a voice was heard from Lt. Capps. =/\=Lt. Capps this is Third Lt. Brock. Aye on the command, it is now in motion. ETA is 2 minutes. Brock out.=/\= Lt. Capps moved aside the Marine channel and opened up his link to sickbay. "Lt. Capps to Sickbay. Please ready sickbay for multiple officers." NRPG: I do realize that you already posted setting up sickbay. RPG: (reply Charles, iyw) After following through with the immediate orders of the Captain, Calvin continued to do his duty coordinating between the bridge and the rest of the ship and the war bird. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - Bridge - CONN Lt. Max - 1246) Lt. Max never did like to be at a full stop. If the ship was stopped that meant he wasn't flying it. He still remained at his console watching his panel. As there was little for him to do at the moment he started to think about his enemy's conn officer. He wondered what the Romulan Conn officer was thinking and then he realized. ~It is better to be stopped in space by your own will instead of being forced to stop~ Max looked up form his console and at the view screen where he saw the Romulan Warbird floating in space. He then wondered if their was one ship could their not be another floating some where. He then forgot his thought because he knew that tactical or someone else has surely thought of that already. Just in case Max brought up his screen on his panel for entering plots to get out of an attack if another Warbird appeared. After minutes of planning at his console he sent the plans to the Captain's arm console for approval. (reply CO, iyw) Max next brought up another screen to show the entire flight pattern of the Romulan warbird and the paladin form the recent chase. Lt. Max slumped in his seat a small bit and started to study the patterns. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - Main Engineering - ACEO Ensign Tristen - 1247) Ensign Tristen was sitting in his chair watching his screen while multiple repairs poped up after the ship had stopped. There were numerous of cargo bays and rooms needing small repairs from he blast of the Warbird, but they were not the number one concern as of then. Ensign Tristen started to coordinate the repairs from most important to least. One of which was the starboard impulse relay switches. That task was already being taken care of so Zack moved to the nest one. Zack picked up a welding tool kit and moved over to the turbolift that only accommodated one person to nacelle two. When he reached the first room he put on his clean suit. While the Paladin was in a fire fight with the Romulan Warbird it had received a hard hit to Nacelle two. The nacelle held intact fully but the third coil had received a hairline crack which Zack will fix. The entire procedure only took twenty minutes. Ensign Tristen then moved inside and walked on the steel floor to the third coil. He started up his welder and began his work. (USS Paladin - Nacelle Two - 1307) Zack cleaned up perfectly and then stepped back into his turbo lift. He tapped his combadge. "Ensign Tristen to Lt. Matrix. Coil three in Nacelle two is fixed." (reply CEO) "I am on my back to Main Engineering, sir." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - CMO's Office - CMO Jared Keller - 1250) Jared was waiting impatiently for news from the attack from his office, it would be nice if there were no wounded but he realized there was little chance of that, he jumped slightly as the communicator from the bridge activated. =^= Lt. Capps to Sickbay. Please ready sickbay for multiple officers. =^= He replied as soon as the initial shock passed, ~Here we go.~ "Acknowleged Lieutenant, sickbay is on alert and standing by. Keller, CMO out." (Posted by Charles) (USS Paladin - Bridge - 2O/Chief Ops Lt. Calvin Capps - 1315) The bridge is where everything happened even if everyone on the bridge never saw anything. It is where the CO gives the orders and the rest of the crew follows and delivers the best outcome they can. These orders must get to where they need to go, and then someone must be up to date with these operations at all times. This is where Lt. Calvin Capps steps in. His duty is to know practically everything. Under stress times such as the one that has presented itself to the Paladin is indeed a very stressful and fulfilling time. It is almost to the point of chaos. Of course if their were no ops officer then it would be a complete chaos and a disaster. Calvin had been watching his console and speaking with multiple of people and teams and monitoring multiple teams. The next step in capturing the Romulan warbird was indeed what Captain Straton had ordered. She had sent three teams over. A science team, tactical, and engineering team. "Sir, the Marines have authorized the final ok on the Warbird. Also the tactical, science, and engineering team has boarded the warbird. They have began their investigations." (reply CO) "The sickbay has reported 2 losses caused by the warbird fire, and injuries are in the teens sir. (reply CO) "The Mithrander and Nautilus have both reported operational status and is standing by for further orders sir." (reply CO) "We are also 4 hours behind our original mission." (reply CO) Calvin could not find anything else on his board as of right now to report, and then another message came through. "Sir, the cargo bay is ready for captured Romulans." (reply CO) "Aye sir, sending a message now." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - Engine Room - Ensign Alura Rathyn -1321) "Lieutenant," Alura hailed the CEO as she approached and offered him a PADD. As Lt. Matrix looked over the names and credentials she'd gathered, Alura went on to describe the group she'd assembled pending his approval. "I've selected a group of fifteen for the trip to the Romulan warship. Ensigns Tomlins, Hargoth and Melberth are specialists in Environmental, Impulse Drive and Communications Technology respectively. I think they'll make excellent team leaders." (Reply: Matrix) "I'll tell everyone to prepare for departure," she said. "Have you heard any time estimates as to when our Marines will have all the Romulans cleared out of the Warbird. I'm anxious to get over there and see what the Romulans have that we don't have." Her voice rose with her enthusiasm. She hadn't been so excited in years. (Reply: Matrix) "We'll be ready when they are, sir." Matrix turned and headed out of the engine room. (posted by Steve Smith) (Unknown Warbird - Security section - TAC/ASC T`Vhor -13:30) After sending the first of the Romulan prisoners over to the Paladin, Ensign T`Vhor again checked on his team before leaving the marines & venturing onwards through the unfamiliar coridoors of the Warbirds interior layout. He was now in their security section at the request of one of the Paladin`s security team. It seemed they had found something else that wasn`t quite right where this ship was concerned. By this time of course, T`Vhor was expecting certain oddities but he was to say the least, unprepared for what he was to eventually find. Sitting on a bunk in a small office leading off from the Romulan holding cells, was an unknown human starfleet officer wearing security colours. He looked up only briefly at T`Vhor as he entered the room & then lowered his head once again. T`Vhor imediately senced the confusion in his mind & also a good degree of conflict over his somewhat questionable morals in regards his actions. The imediate question in T`Vhors mind though was wether or not he was working for Doenitz & also in league with the Romulans, or was it just the Romulans he was sharing information with. The other members of T`Vhors team had already asked their own questions of course, but it seemed he was reluctant to let on as to exactly what he was doing there. T`Vhor however, saw no point at this time to question him further, if he had been reluctant with the others, he would be so with him also. He would wait until they were all back on the Paladin before questioning him more thoroughly. "Get him over to the Paladin & confine him to the Brig", said T`Vhor to one of the other security officers who imediately tugged the man to his feet & led him off down the coridoor. T`Vhor then tapped his commbadge to open a channel to the Paladin as he made his way to the Romulan bridge. =/\=T`Vhor to Paladin=/\= (Reply CO, any) =/\=We have a few unpleasant surprises here sir, the Romulans appear to be in league with a federation spy in some way, we have also found a large presence of Tal`Shiar on board along with a highly questionable piece of weaponary. I`m sure that we will find more to add to this later=/\= (Reply CO, Any) =/\=Aye sir, I`m on my way to the bridge as we speak, hopefully I will have more data then. T`Vhor out=/\= (Posted by Alan Reading) (Romulan Warbird, Bridge, ACSO, Lt Shane Schofield, 1400) Shane looked about himself like a child in a sweetshop. He still couldn't believe that he was standing here, on the bridge of a Romulan Warbird. The tachyon net had snared it effectively and the Marines from the Paladin had subdued the crew allowing this boarding party. With a shake of his head Shane brought himself out of his trance and began his work. He walked over to what had been identified as the science station on the bridge. Sitting down at the station Shane noticed some droplets of a green fluid on the console before him. It was only after he had wiped it away with his hand, to clear the screen, that he realized what it was - blood. Probably blood from his counterpart - the Romulan Science officer. Shane was a little shocked at seeing the blood but he forced himself to put it out of his mind and focus on his duties. Shane accessed the Romulan computer and sadly found it encrypted. Was this standard operating procedure by the Romulan science officers or did they manage to encrypt the main computer after the Marines had boarded their vessel but before they had secured it? Shane wasn't sure. He took two padds from his bag that he had placed on the deck beside the chair he was sitting on. The first padd interfaced with the Romulan computer and contained several decryption protocols. This managed to hack its way into some of the lower-level access regions of the system. These protocols then worked their way slowly through the system, level by level, trying to crack the system entirely. The second padd that Shane placed on the workstation interfaced with the first, but the only data on this one was a Romulan translation matrix. Any data that appeared on padd 1 was instantly translated to Federation Standard on padd 2. The first search string that Shane wanted to test was a search for how the Romulan cloaking systems worked. He was rewarded almost instantly. Although broken and patchy there was still enough information there to read it. [... cloaking device is an energy screen generator ........ ship invisible to the eye and to most sensor ....... This is accomplished by gravitational lensing, ................. a distorted image ....... focused by gravity. In the case of a cloaking device, the light is focused so that the object's index of refraction (the phase velocity of radiation in free space divided by the phase velocity of the same radiation in a specified medium) matches its surroundings, making the object transparent....... precisely balancing the radiative emissions from the warp drive nacelles, dissipating all electro...........radiation, gravitational fields and other .....emissions emanating ..... and distorting space in such a way that ................. energy emissions are directed around the ship through subspace at velocities faster than light. ..........cloaking device ..... utilizes a highly-wave mapped, adaptive, asymmetrical dispersion pattern. This cloaking device's cloaking generator coils are ........... field actuators that change the dispersion pattern, ...... efficient in any interstellar condition, ..............s, such as gas density, elec.... and mag... fields, and fluctuations in the subspace domain...........ield actuators compensate for any of these variables or active scans if the vicinity of the cloaked ship is being probed........no danger of a spatial ripple occurring. This would render a ship undetectable, except with a tachyon heterodyne detection grids, which, if powerful enough, could detect a ship that was cloaked in this manner.] ~Bloody hell!~ Shane thought as he read. If they could crack the computer encryption fully without losing too much information this might prove to be a treasure trove. Shane then started his main search. He typed in FEDERATION into the padd and waited to see what the Romulan computer would reveal to him. Reams of data flowed across the screens before him, information on the Federation, both geographical and political, Starfleet dispersals, communication systems. One line caught his eye as it scrolled, he almost missed it it had moved so fast up the screen. It was in one of the communication protocols. The only word that Shane could read was the one word he had not expected to see in a communication on a Romulan warship. =/\= Schofield to Paladin. Captain I am sending you some information on an encrypted channel to your station. I think you should see this yourself. =/\= Shane then tapped his padd and sent the data to the captain's chair. It was the one with the unexpected word in it. The word was a name, the name of a Federation citizen and senior Starfleet officer - Doenitz. (Posted by Andrew Brannigan) (USS Paladin - Bridge - Lt. Calvin Capps - 1640) Lt. Capps had been relieved of his ops station by a younger officer and Calvin moved to the command chair while Captain Straton was in her ready room. The Lt. was looking over the various projects that were being handled and he was making sure that they were being done as fast as possible. As Calvin was looking at the current engineering team that was working over at the Warbird he wanted to know what their status was. He was about to open up a hail over to Lt. Matrix when the Captain's voice came on the comm. =/\=Captain Straton to all senior officers. Staff meeting in 15 min. Conference Room 1. Straton out.=/\= Lt. Capps finished up with the current situation and then left the bridge in capable hands. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin, Ready Room, CO, Captain Straton, 16:45) Eva sat her desk looking over the data collected from the Warbird so far, it was not encouraging. Though nothing concrete had been discovered, just the hint that Doenitz might be working with the Romulans put a giant knot in the middle of Eva's gut. Finished looking over the data yet again, Eva turned off her terminal grabbed her cup of tea and leaned back in her chair, deep in thought. ~Can't risk a communication to Fleet Command this close to our destination. The decision is mine, and mine alone.~ Seconds latter, having decided what to do, Eva leaned forward and pressed a button on her desk, opening a comm-channel. "Captain Straton to all senior officers," She said, "Staff meeting in 15 min. Conference Room 1. Straton out." Eva closed the connection and leaned back in her chair once more, her thoughts dark. (Posted by Wes) (USS Paladin - Conference room 1 - TAC/acting SC T`Vhor - 16:45) With most of the primary data on the IRW Tek`Wahn now firmly within the Paladins computer core, it was time now to get under way once again. Captain Straton had called everyone now to the conference room & had outlined what was to happen. Everyone knew their places now, some of the Paladin crew were to leave her & pilot the warbird to Geneva for further analysis, the Romulan prisoners though still posed a problem for T`Vhor in his security capacity. "Sir, are we to take the Romulan prisoners with us on the Paladin, or will they be put under guard on their own vessel until they reach Geneva", said T`Vhor. (Reply CO) "Understood sir", said T`Vhor as everyone then stood to leave the room & head for their assigned duties. "Do not break radio silence unless absolutely necessary, or until you reach the subspace river. Once in the river contact Geneva and have them send out an escort ship to lead you in. I want the War Bird under way in 30 minuets, so lets get moving people." The Captain had alot of orders to give and she basically gave not enough time to do it all. However that was the orders and Calvin was going to try to do the best he could to get it all done as fast as possible. He stood up from his seat as he watched all the officers leave to do what they needed to get done. Lt. Capps went back to the bridge to correlate with the ops officer. "The Bright Star will escort the War Bird for 3 hours they will have to leave in order to have enough time to meet up with us before the invasion. I realize the War Bird was severely damaged in the battle and can only travel at low warp. Hopefully, Ensign Rathyn and her team were able to get their cloak on line." Eva nodded at the Ensign. Alura returned the gesture, affirming that the Warbird's cloaking system was operational. Although she still had misgivings about trying to move the battle damaged ship so soon. "Do not break radio silence unless absolutely necessary," Stratton continued, "or until you reach the subspace river. Once in the river contact Geneva and have them send out an escort ship to lead you in. I want the War Bird under way in 30 minuets, so lets get moving people." (posted by David) (USS Paladin - Deck 1, Conference Room - CMO Keller - 17:01) Jared sidled in just before the meeting started and found a seat quickly by the door, Eva glanced over at him and nodded then began the briefing. Jared got up quickly after she was finished in a trifle of a daze, everything was cut and dried but it made him wonder why he had been summoned, there was no new information on his department, he shrugged and headed for the door. (posted by Charles) (USS Paladin, Conference Room , Col T'Vanek, 17:10) T'Vanek looked at Tahlmari after the meeting had broken up. "According to the plans we have laid, I can send three squads with an elevated risk factor of approximately seven percent. Anything more becomes unacceptable, in my approximation. (posted by Trout) (USS Paladin, Bridge, CO, Captain Eva Straton, 17:35) Eva watched on the main viewer as the War Bird swung away from them and began it's long trek to the subspace river, the Bright Star leading the way. Once the Warbird had gone to warp, Eva looked at Lt. Maxx at CONN. "Resume previous course warp 8," Eva ordered, "We have some lost time to make up for." Eva stood and moved over to the tactical station and Ensign T'Vhor. "Ensign," Eva said, "our primary shields were alarmingly low after our short fire fight with the Warbird. I want you to run a level 1 diagnostic on all primary and secondary shield generators before we arrive. Coordinate with engineering if you need. Let me know what you find." (Posted by Wes) (USS Paladin - Bridge - TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor - 17:35) Ensign T`Vhor was at the Tactical station now monitoring the imediate area for any further Romulan incursions in responce to the Warbirds distress call. The last thing they needed now was another warbird turning up. The Captain had just been watching the Warbird leaving the area under escort, she then walked up to Tactical to speak to T`Vhor as he continued with his scans. "Ensign," She said. "our primary shields were alarmingly low after our short fire fight with the Warbird. I want you to run a level 1 diagnostic on all primary and secondary shield generators before we arrive. Coordinate with engineering if you need. Let me know what you find." "Aye sir", said T`Vhor who then imediately switched to check on the shield generator status. "Initialising level one diagnostic on the shield generators & subsequent systems", said T`Vhor. The results were surprisingly fast, indicating that something had obviously been damaged. "Shields are still currently at 21 percent sir", said T`Vhor accessing the shield power conduits directly now for further evaluation. "The warbird damaged some of the EPS taps feeding onto the primary & secondary power storage areas of decks 48 & 49 sir", said T`Vhor. "I`ll have engineering attend to it as a matter of urgency, I will continue the level one diagnostic for a complete evaluation, this will complete in fifty five minutes sir", he added. (posted by Alan) (USS Paladin, Engine Room , ACEO Ensign Alura Rathyn,17:35) Alura looked at the viewer forlornly as the Romulan Warbird quickly grew smaller. She'd learned some of Romulan technology in the short time she'd been over there, but her exploration had been very limited. For the time she'd been allowed, she was very grateful; she envied the teams of engineers on Geneva who would have the chance to crawl through that monstrous war machine with tricorder and tool pouch, grooming every circuit and with genuine TLC. But the Prophets had directed her path elsewhere and it was her duty to pursue that course to the best of her ability. She turned back to look upon the bustle in the Paladin's Engine Room. (posted by David) (USS Paladin - Bridge - Lt. Calvin Capps - 1736) Everything now had been finished best to its ability and it was now time to say bye to the skeleton crew a board the Warbird and to get on with their original and intended mission. The Captain gave the order engage the ship and they were on their way. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - Bridge - CONN Lt. Max - 1737) Max watched the Warbird on the view screen turn 180 degrees in the opposite direction and then warped out of sight. ~Man I wish I could fly a Romulan Warbird some day~. His thought was then broken by the voice of Captain Straton. "Resume previous course warp 8," Eva ordered, "We have some lost time to make up for." "Aye sir." Max typed in a few command buttons on the console. After all setting were set correctly he pushed one final button and the Paladin was shot into warp speed. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Paladin - Bridge - TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor - 17:40) With the perimiter scan now complete, the Paladin was on route once again & the warbird was finally out of their hair. Ensign T`Vhor checked on the status of the level one diagnostic on the shields & then he left the bridge to head for the turbolift. Once he had entered & the doors had closed, T`Vhor tapped his combadge to open a channel. =/\=Ensign T`Vhor to Ensign Dunn=/\= (Reply Dunn) =/\=I want you to meet me in security on deck 27, there is something I need your assistance with, T`Vhor out=/\= Ensign T`Vhor then continued on to deck 27. (USS Paladin - Security - Security chiefs office - TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor - 17:45) T`Vhor sat down in the chair & glanced at the PADD on the desk before him. It seemed strange to be sitting there in this room like that, after all, only a day or so beforehand he had been drinking Klingon blood wine with his friend & imediate superior Lt Morgot who had now left the ship to escort the Warbird back to Geneva. T`Vhor stood & then he walked slowly to a cabinet upon the wall, he then accessed it`s security lock via it`s keypad to open it up & take out the object within. For something so small it didn`t quite seem right that it could inflict such terrrible harm. The Varon-T felt chillingly cold in his grip, it`s smooth almost beautiful exterior hiding it`s nature as effectively as a cloak hides a concealed dagger. His observations & thoughts however were quickly dismissed as the door chime to the ofice sounded once to indicate Dunns arrival. "Enter", said T`Vhor as the door slid aside & in walked Ensign Dunn as requested. Dunn stood for a short while as though unsure of what he had been called for, T`Vhor bade him sit in the chair & then slid the small silver pistol across the table towards him. "Do you know what this is Ensign Dunn", said T`Vhor. (Reply Dunn) "It doesn`t surprise me that you do, you have an avid interest in weapons I understand", said T`Vhor. (Reply Dunn) "Then I have a job for you", said T`Vhor, "I need to find out as much about this weapon as I can, where it came from, how it came to be on a Romulan warbird in the possesion of a Tal`Shiar officer", he added. "I have managed to find out that it`s journey here originated on Varidea 3 when it was sold to a mercenary by an arms trader", said T`Vhor. "What I need to know is wether it can be linked to any officers loyal to Admiral Doenitz & more importantly, wether or not it may have been replicated", he added. "You can use the DNA database to cross reference anything you might find", said T`Vhor. "If it has indeed been duplicated, then we may well be up against something very unpleasant if we have to confront any of Admiral Doenitz forces in a hand to hand situation", said T`Vhor. (Reply Dunn) Ensign Dunn then stood & turned about to leave the room with the Varon-T disruptor in hand. "One more thing Ensign Dunn", said T`Vhor. Ensign Dunn turned abruptly. "Please be very careful with that", he added with an uncharacteristic smile. (Reply Dunn, IYW) Ensign Dunn then left the security chiefs office. (posted by Alan) (USS Paladin, Cargo Bay 2, Ensign Greg Dunn – 17:42) Greg had finished installing the surveillance system when his comm. (posted by Greg Dunn) (USS Paladin - Security - Security chief’s office – Ensign Greg Dunn, 17:47) Greg reached the door of the office at a run and hit the door chime and after a brief pause the door hissed open letting Greg step inside. He stood staring at the officer unsure why he was called up. T’Vhor indicated to a seat which Greg took gladly. Then the officer pushed a small silver pistol across the table towards Greg which he recognised instantly. “Do you recognise this Ensign?” T’Vhor asked. Greg picked up the weapon it had been a long time since he had seen one of these things. The last time he saw one was in a bar whilst he was near star fleet head quarters. “I recognise this weapon.” He said slightly unsure. "It doesn`t surprise me that you do, you have an avid interest in weapons I understand", said T`Vhor. Greg gave the officer a smile. “I have quite a collection and a decent knowledge to know what weapon this is and its capabilities.” He said knowingly. "Then I have a job for you", said T`Vhor, "I need to find out as much about this weapon as I can, where it came from, how it came to be on a Romulan warbird in the possesion of a Tal`Shiar officer", he added. "I have managed to find out that it`s journey here originated on Varidea 3 when it was sold to a mercenary by an arms trader", said T`Vhor. "If it has indeed been duplicated, then we may well be up against something very unpleasant if we have to confront any of Admiral Doenitz forces in a hand to hand situation", said T`Vhor. Greg made notes in a PADD and looked up at T’Vhor when he had finished. “I am sure I can come up with something relatively quick. Just give me a couple of hours.” He said knowingly. Greg picked up the weapon and was about to leave when the officer came out with something else. "One more thing Ensign Dunn", said T`Vhor. This caused Greg to turn abruptly. “Yes sir?” "Please be very careful with that", he added with an uncharacteristic smile. “This is noting much sir… I have seen better.” He said jovially. Greg then turned and left the office and headed to his quarters carrying the weapon. (posted by Greg Dunn) (USS Paladin, Personal Quarters, Ensign Greg Dunn, 1800) Greg sat on his bed and looked over the weapon. The last time he had seen one of these it was when it wiped out an entire bar, which Greg was lucky to escape. These weapons were contra band and were banned throughout the galaxy only high ranking officers could get hold of one of these. He turned the weapon over in his hand and found the serial number: 0133321541 and made a note of the number. Greg put the weapon to one side and went to his database and looked up the number. The database came up with the following results: Serial Number: 0133321541 Type: Varon –T Disruptor Date Commissioned: 2345 Information: This weapon is illegal in the entire universe. Only high-ranking personnel can get hold of this weapon. There was only one of these weapons ever made and it was stored in a high security vault on Earth. A high level access code is required to get in. Greg made a note of this in a PADD and put it to one side. He then picked up the weapon and looked it over. There was one way to see if it was counterfeit. He opened up the weapon and looked inside. There should have been a manufacturer’s stamp but it was missing. Greg added this to his report. Greg put the weapon back together and holstered it and headed to the armoury. (posted by Greg Dunn) (USS Paladin, Deck 16 Armoury, Ensign Greg Dunn – 1909) Greg entered the armoury and headed over to the range and brought up several targets. He then drew the weapon and armed it. It displayed several red lights then a whining noise confirming it was charged up. He then put the weapon to arms length and fired. There was a wide bright beam and a loud bang, there was a lot of smoke but when it cleared there was nothing left apart from smouldering ashes. This surely was a killer weapon and demanded respect. Greg powered down the weapon and holstered it. He picked up his report and added the weapons capabilities. The report was now complete. Greg headed off to the security office again. (posted by Greg Dunn) (USS Paladin - Security - Security chief’s office – Ensign Greg Dunn, 1935) Greg pressed the comm. And entered when the doors had hissed open. Greg approached the desk and placed the report on the desk and gave the officer a grave look. “It is surely a powerful weapon and it is a counterfeit. It looks like there could be thousands of these out there. Not to mention the fact that they cause devastating damage… you should see the test range in the armoury.” He said gravely. (posted by Greg Dunn) (USS Paladin - Security chiefs office - TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor - 19:35) Ensign T`Vhor was once again back in the security section in the security chiefs office. The Level one diagnostic had shown nothing further on the shield status other than the damage already noted & he had already made these facts known to the Captain. T`Vhor opened up a drawer in the desk as he sat & sighed. It had been a long day, what with the conflict with the Warbird, it`s subsequent boarding & the data they had gathered on it, he was now ready for a bit of relaxation. In the drawer, Lt Morgot had left a full unopened flask of Klingon bloodwine. T`Vhor wondered wether he had left it there intentionally for him, but in his current state of tiredness & regardless of the fact that it looked very tempting, T`Vhor had duties to attend to & now was certainly not the time for Morgot`s bloodwine. T`Vhor slid the drawer closed just as the door chime to the office sounded to herald the reappearance of Ensign Dunn with the Varon-T & his completed report. Ensign T`Vhor took the PADD & the pistol from Ensign Dunn & then after safely locking the thing away in the cabinet again, he surveyed the information given as Ensign Dunn spoke out to add his own personal remarks. “It is surely a powerful weapon and it is a counterfeit", he said. "It looks like there could be thousands of these out there. Not to mention the fact that they cause devastating damage… you should see the test range in the armoury.”, said Ensign Dunn. T`Vhor looked up at the Ensign & raised an eyebrow in typical Vulcan manner. "That Ensign Dunn, is certainly an understatement", said T`Vhor. "I am most curious of one fact however", he added. "There are only five Varon-T disruptor pistols in known existence, the fact that this one has a high serial number & also evidence of replication bothers me a great deal", said T`Vhor. "This implies that this actual weapon is not one of the original five, & even before this one was replicated, many more were potentially manufactured", said T`Vhor. "This is most disconcerting", he added. "Were there any traces of DNA on the weapon matching any known starfleet personel?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Dunn) "That is even more disconcerting", said T`Vhor his brow furrowing slightly now in responce upon knowing what the ramifications of this meant. The two men then moved to leave the room. T`Vhor picked up the PADD & switched it off. "Excellent work Ensign Dunn, I will be sure to include your diligence in this matter in my report to the Captain", said T`Vhor as they both then walked through the door & on to their respective duties. (posted by Alan) (USS Paladin - Deck 27 - Security Staging Area - TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor - 20:09) Ensign T`Vhor had ten of the Marine issue mark II-D Phazers layed out on the desk before him in the security staging area. He was well acquanted with this particular weapon having used it in the field on a number of occasions already. It was now time however to introduce it to those security officers that had yet to come face to face with it. A few of them of course already had first hand experience of it, but hardly any of them had any real use of it in a true, blood & grime combat environment. Ensign T`Vhor picked up one of the phazers & held it outstretched as ten pairs of eyes looked on. "This gentlemen, is the Marine issue II-D phazer", said T`Vhor, "Some of you may know it already, those of you that do are about to get to know it a lot better", he added pausing then to survey the reactions of his team. "Those that don`t are about to get a crash course in it`s use", he added. "We are about to confront an adversary that is just as skilled as we are, they are trained to the same high standards but it is possible that they have access to......let us say....questionable weaponary", said T`Vhor. Ensign Dunn looked towards T`Vhor knowingly & bit his lower lip as he realised what he meant by that. T`Vhor acknowledged the mans look & then he returned his attention to the phazer & powered it up. A bank of lights lit up on the side as it hummed gently & then they extinguished one by one until only two remained to show it`s current power level. "Hopefully, the II-D will go some way in evening up the odds a little", said T`Vhor. "It is a little different from your normal sidearm & will fire at a rate matching a Jem`Hadar assault rifle whilst allowing area saturation against difficult to locate targets, before they have even seen you", he added tossing the weapon into the air & then catching it easily in a practical demonstration of just how light it actually was. T`Vhor unlatched a small clip near to the handle & then he ran his finger up along the power setting slide to increase the power to maximum & then back to it`s minimum once again. "The power level is variable in levels one through sixteen, sixteen being nothing short of a directed, explosive charge that will decimate an area of substantial size & anything within it", said T`Vhor. "It has four seperate modes of operation", added T`Vhor, "these being single shot, sustained beam, five pulse burst & random frequency shot", he said as he then operated the mode switch to set the weapon into each of the modes he had mentioned before placing it once again back onto the table. "It is not a certainty, but given current available information, it is logical to assume that our enemy may have access to the Varon-T disruptor", said T`Vhor changing the subject matter just a little now. "This, in case you were not aware is a rather nasty piece of technology that painfully disassembles the cellular structure of a living being in a manner that you most definately do not want to experience", he added noticing as he spoke how the men fidgeted uncomfortably at the mention of the Varon-T. "Sir, just how reliable is this information", said one of the men raising his hand to attract T`Vhor`s attention. "Reliable enough for me to warrant the substitution of your standard sidearms for the II-D Ensign Slater", said T`Vhor. Ensign Slater then lowered his head & furrowed his brow in contemplation of a possible encounter with a Varon-T. "The Marine issue II-D phazer however, will hopefully prevent anyone with one of these weapons getting close enough to you to discharge it accurately", said T`Vhor as he then moved around the desk to stand before his assembled team, each of them looking to one another in a concerned manner. Ensign T`Vhor picked up one of the phazers again & then powered it up. "Gentlemen, I suggest you each get to know it now in your own time in the firing range", he said, as each of the men then stood & walked to the table to pick up one of the phazers before leaving for the range. (posted by Alan) (USS Paladin-Deck 27-Security Staging Area –TAC/Acting SC T`Vhor-20:43) After speaking to the men, Ensign T`Vhor was surprised to see Ensign Dunn remain in the staging area apparently eager to speak with him. "Ensign Dunn?", said T`Vhor questioningly. “Sir. I think I can locate the dealer for these weapons.” Greg said with caution and he couldn’t stop fidgeting. Greg looked at the floor and then at T’Vhor and gave a faint smile. "Very well Ensign Dunn, I am, to use an earth phrase, all ears", said T`Vhor, noticing the Ensigns smile but failing once again to see the humour in his statement in regards his own pointed extremities. (Reply Dunn) "The only problem I can see with this is that any further investigation into the dealer would have to wait until after we have dealt with our current mission", said T`Vhor. "Other than that, I can see no reason why you should not proceed with this investigation when the time is right to do so", he added.
