Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo - Bridge- TAC/SC, Lt. Calder - 1008) Calder cursed at the nimitz as he saw the ever so slight waiver in the Trawler's Shield harmonics and knew that the nimitz had beamed a boarding party over. Just then the science officer voiced what he had seen. "Captain! Nimitz has beamed boarding parties onto the trawler!" Called CSO Belite. "Lt. Calder prepare to fire phasers, target her shield generator relays. I want those shields brought down." Galk shouted from Tac I. Calder looked at Galk and had always resenting him telling him the obvious. Calder knew his job, but, Galk had always seen it fit to tell him anyways. "Sir, shield generator relays targetted and waiting. I would like to point out that they will not be that easy to be taken out." Calder watched as the distance to the nimitz was counting down on the screen. He wanted to be in close so that his phasers had a better chance of getting through their shields. "Mr. Damas lower cloak and stand by to reengage!" (Reply: Lt. Damas) "Mr. Jennings slow to full impulse, Mr. Calder fire phasers!" Calder pressed the button on his console that released a volley of phaser fire at the shields of the Nimitz around it's shield generator. Even though the fire did not get through, he could see that their shields took a beating and could not take much of his fire. "Mr. Vandergriff watch those shields closely, nursemaid them if you have to; we can't afford to let ourselves get caught with our pants down in this engagement Mon Ami`." (Reply: Lt. Vandergriff) There was a jolt as phaser fire from the Nimitz struck the Alamo and it shuddered momentarily, then the ship was flying free again. "Recloak Mr Damas and give me a status report." Henre called. (Reply: Lt. Damas) "Mr. Jennings turn us around on the same flight plane and raise the ship 5,000 meters over zero bubble, I want to come down on her from above on the same axis." "Aye Captain." Lt. Jennings called. "Turning around and raising plane 5,000 meters." "Mr. Calder stand by to target shield generator relays again, I want her ripped wide open." Henre called. "Aye sir gladly" Calder replied. Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo - Bridge- OPS, Lt. Damas - 1010) "Mr. Damas lower cloak and stand by to reengage!" Cithy Damas followed her orders, lowering the cloak and pulling up the status message. She frowned as she watched the screen flow by, her antenna picking up scent from the humans. Battles seemed to drive them into a fury, especially this Captain to which she had just been assigned. "Mr. Jennings slow to full impulse, Mr. Calder fire phasers!" Several long minutes inched by, and when Cithy looked down at her readouts, it was almost 15 minutes that had gone by. The ship rocked a couple of times, as Cithy quickly re-established the inertial dampeners. One bad shot from the Nimitz caused an explosion of sparks to the back of the bridge and the lights to blink once. "Recloak Mr Damas and give me a status report." Henre called. Cithy quickly re-engaged the cloak and frowned. "Captain, shield strength decreased by... 25% on my read-outs. Confirm, Tactical?" (reply tactical) Cithy continued to go through the reports coming in. "Minor injuries on decks 5 and 6, some plasma burns, medical teams responding. A plasma explosion on deck 7 caused 2 fatalities, Captain, and our power reserves are down. How down, I can't say since every time I try to get a reading, the computer tells me something different. And I think we are leaking tachyon particles from the shields." Cithy finished the bad news. "They hit us pretty hard, Captain. But on the other side, if the sensor readings are right, the Nimitz is in the middle of an anti-matter containment problem. If they can't control the build-up, they will have to eject their core." Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Transporter Room 3 - ACEO Ensign (jg) Miles O'Neill - 1010) Miles had entered Transporter Room 3 to find his men, and some marines assigned to his team already there. ~At least I don't have to get them.~ He thought. "Good, you're all here. Do you all have the equipment you need?" Miles said. "Yes, sir." They replied. "Let's get ready." He said to his team. He stepped on the transporter pad, the others following, and said to the chief, "Energize." He felt the familiar feeling of the transporter over him, and he was gone. Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo – Main Engineering - CEO - Lt. James Vandergriff - 1011) It was not the prettiest day for the chief engineer. James had just finished getting the main engines back on line working only to have them fluctuate out of alignment with every power surge from the cloaking device, which was putting a damper on the escort mission. If it was not one thing it was something else. James was showing his Scottish upbringing, which was not a sight to see by anyone even if Captain LaBeau saw it. "Mr. Vandergriff watch those shields closely, nursemaid them if you have to; we can't afford to let ourselves get caught with our pants down in this engagement Mon Ami`." Captain LaBeau called out over the comm systems. “Aye, Sir! I’m given it all she got! Any more blast like that last one we will be worrying more about battery power than the bloomin’ shields!! James shouted as he was just shock into a rage as a plasma conduit sparked in explosion near his position. (Reply Captain LaBeau) “Crewman Simons, get over there and plug that conduit!! We’re going to have more on our hands if that conduit goes!!! Ensign Fellows, keep that containment field on the warp core stable or that will be the only story your folks will be hearing about back home!!!” James screamed in an attempt to get his section working together to fix the power drop offs and to maintain stability in the warp core during this tense combat environment. James accessed the damage control system and to his astonishment the Alamo was holding up, but there was a lot of stress on the main engines with several key power conduits giving out, which had him wondering if his engineering section could maintain the overdrawn power from the lesser systems at this point. Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes - Main Engineering - ACEO Ensign (jg) Miles O'Neill - 1015) Miles rematerialized in the the Trawler's Engineering section, to see that many of the people there were aiming phasers at them. ~Damn.~ Miles thought as he began to say, "I am Ensign O'Neill of the Nimitz ordering all of you to stand down, or we will fire." Suddenly, one of the engineers fired on the team, and Miles fired back. Then more of the engineers fired, and the team fired back. It was like this for a few minutes, until a few engineers remained, and surrendered. ~Glad that's over.~ Miles thought. He tapped his commbadge and said, "O'Neill to Commander Troi. Engineering has been secured." Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes - Bridge - Nimitz CMO - Lt. BigWill Kinkaid - 1018) All of the sudden the stalemate briefly turned into commotion which was the main objective: no casualties, if possible besides securing the much needed anti-matter fuel. A phaser shot came from the CONN station Kinkaid instinctively took cover on the deck of the bridge. Lt. Saleke immediately leaped for cover near the helmsman control console by knocking the pilot down and covering from the phaser fire. After the hustle and bustle situation, Kinkaid returned to his feet not knowing what had happen during the phaser fight and began scanning with his medical tricorder. There was a humanoid body lying next to the center chair. Kinkaid without thinking about his safety sprang into action. He went over to the body to get its vitals. By the rank insignia, Kinkaid realized it was Captain Larry Madden. The scans were not looking good. Captain Madden was no longer among them. Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes - Bridge - Nimitz FO Commander Troi - 1020) Kestra had hoped that a fire fight could have been avoided but it seemed that she had deluded herself. There were a few that did not think that surrendering the ship was on the top of their list of favorable things to do. As phaser shots rang out, she ducked in behind Tagon as he was her shield and seemed not to care about the shooting. As a man just stood there and started to raise his phaser, She noticed that it was actually pointing at her. Luckily she noticed that Tagon had saw it as he moved quickly over to the man. Kestra had to stifle a chuckle even in the midst of all this chaos as Tagon wagged a finger at him before thumping him on the head. That must have been a hard thump as the man killed over unconscious to the floor. Kestra got a feeling of something strange and looked at one of the Archimedes officers to see that he was pointing his phaser at his own captain. Before anyone could do something to stop him, the man fired. As a hole opened up in the captains chest, she knew that there would be nothing that anyone could do for him. As Tagon moved toward him, the man looked at her as he said, "I do believe we surrender Commander." Something did not feel right with it, as if he had planned to do that all along. Saleke turned on him as well, "Drop your weapon sir. Do not make me fire at you." Since the phaser fire had ended, Tagon moved to the tactical station. Kestra hoped that he was making sure that the shields were reinforced. After he had done whatever it was, he returned to her side. She moved over to the captain's chair as did Doctor Kinkaid and watched as he knelt down to feel if the captain was indeed alive. He stood up looking over at her and shook his head from side to side. She turned to look at the crew of the Archimedes all with their hands up in the air. Most were upset that they had surrendered so easily and most were stunned by what one of their own had done. She actually felt for them as she knew she would have felt the same way. Reaching over to the arm of the Captain's chair, she tapped the ship wide intercom. "This is Commander Kestra Troi, First Officer of the USS Nimitz. We have taken control of the bridge and order you to surrender to the officers from the nimitz in your area. We do not wish to create more bloodshed than we have to. It would be better to shed no blood at all. You can either join us and act freely or we will have to quarantine you either in your quarters or the brig. When we have the time, we will repatriate you to your units if you wish. Please acknowledge those in charge. Troi out" She then looked at Saleke, "get this ship moving as fast as you can to the river." Then she turned to the bridge crew, "I give you your choice, help out or the brig until we have time to repatriate you." Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes - Bridge - Lt. Saleke (jg)- 1021) Saleke watched the Lt. Commander as he turned his eyes toward him, there was a long pause as the Vulcan's words sank in then the man looked at the phaser in his hand then finally dropped it to the floor. The Vulcan picked it up while watching the man closely and saw Dr. Kincaid and Commander Troi rushing toward the Captain of the Archimedes as he rose with the weapon in his hand. There was a hush on the bridge that was broken only by the whine of Dr. Kincaid's tricorder as everyone waited to hear the report of his health. After a moment the Doctor shook his head at Commander Troi after which she stood up with a chagrined look on her face then walked to the Captain's chair and tapped the ship's intercom button. Troi out" She then looked at Saleke, "get this ship moving as fast as you can to the river." Then she turned to the bridge crew, "I give you your choice, help out or the brig until we have time to repatriate you." Saleke heard this last as he was turning toward the pilot's control console, he spared a glance for the unconcious pilot as he called out. "Acknowledged Commander." Sitting down in the chair he brought up the navigational control and entered the coordinates for the subspace river entry point, when the chart came up showing their destination and the intervening space he gave the commands to skirt the asteroid field and plotted the closest and fastest route along its edge. After finishing the preparations he entered the desired speed of warp 6 and punched the button to initiate the course then checked the pilot again as his entries were acknowledged by the navigational computer. Saleke noticed the man was now stirring weakly, it appeared he was going to be all right. As the ship began to turn move toward the inlaid course on the navigational display Saleke turned back toward the FO. "Course plotted and laid in Commander, speed set at warp 6 and initiated. Archimedes is now turning toward the desired course." Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz, Main Engineering, CEO, Lt(sg) Zzt, 1025) The Nimitz rocked as her shields absorbed another barrage of weapons fire. Zzt cursed as he watched the Nimitz's shield integrity fall again. His paws moved over the MSD console, redirecting power, bypassing burnt out relays and redirecting more power to the shield grid. "Bogath! Redirect power from fusion generators 1,3, and 5 to shields!" Zzt yelled. The ship rocket again and a power relay exploded, send several crewman flying. Zzt bared his fangs at the acrid smell of burnt flesh and circuitry filled the room. "Medical team to Main Engineering," Zzt said, slapping his com-badge, with one paw while the other worked to stabilize the power flow around the blown relays. Zzt double tapped his com-badge again. "Zzt to bridge," He growled, "Take another hit like that and we lose aft shields. Time stop playing with prey and end it." Zzt cursed, both his paws working feverishly on his console forgetting to close the com channel to the bridge. "Retath! Stabilize the anti-matter containment fields!" Zzt yelled, not realizing that the com-channle was still open. "It's de-stabilizeing!" Retath replied, fear in his voice, "I can't stop it! We are losing anti-matter containment!" A long line of vile curses issued from Zzt's snout as he rushed to the warp control console. Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo - Bridge- CO, Captain Henre LaBeau - 1030) Henre listened carefully at the replies of his Andorian OPS officer and was not enthused with what he was hearing. In order to defeat a foe like Sash and the Nimitz he needed a fully functioning ship in peak condition but those problems in engineering they had been running into since they took down the Romulan ship "Prelate" were resurfacing with a vengeance and if they were not corrected fast the Alamo was in deep trouble. "Captain, shield strength decreased by... 25% on my read-outs. Confirm, Tactical?" Galk nodded his head gravely, "That is confirmed Captain, shields down 25.3 percent. We can't take many hits like that." He trurned his head toward her as she continued her report "Minor injuries on decks 5 and 6, some plasma burns, medical teams responding. A plasma explosion on deck 7 caused 2 fatalities, Captain, and our power reserves are down. How down, I can't say since every time I try to get a reading, the computer tells me something different. And I think we are leaking tachyon particles from the shields." She then turned toward him. "They hit us pretty hard, Captain. But on the other side, if the sensor readings are right, the Nimitz is in the middle of an anti-matter containment problem. If they can't control the build-up, they will have to eject their core." Henre grinned at that last bit of news, if he was having troubles then the Nimitz was in the middle of a minor catastrophe. That bit of good news however was outweighed by the report on the cloak and his grin disappeared quickly as he hit the Comm button. "Mr. Vandergriff get someone on the cloak immediately if you can spare them, it does us little good if they can trace us by tachyon emissions, we need it nailed down immediately if possible. How are those engines holding up?" (Reply: Lt. Vandergriff) Henre then turned to Lt. Jennings. "Mr. Jennings I want you to bring us close to the Nimitz on this run, 5,000 meters before we peel off. We need to get in close this time." Lt. Jennings acknowledged his Captain's orders with a nod and said. "Yes sir, setting a course to run us in close." Henre then turned to Cithi Damas again. "Lt. Damas I want you to disengage cloak at 10,000 meters from the Nimitz, In the meantime try to get me a good reading on those power reserves" (Reply: Lt. Damas) "Mr. Galk I want a countdown at every 5,000 meters beginning at 20,000. The timing is going to be crucial on this." Galk nodded, "Aye sir." Lastly but certainly not of least importance Henre turned to Lt. Calder at Tac II. "Mr. Calder when we come out of cloak I want you to fire quantum torpedoes at her warp nacelles and at 5,000 meters I want a full volley from the phasers. Since they are having warp core containment problems lets help the process along a bit shall we?" Henre then grinned and settled back in his command chair. (Reply: Lt. Calder) "Yes Mr. Calder I am aware we will have a rough ride because of the explosions at that close range but the Nimitz will have a worse time of it I should imagine." Henre smiled showing his white teeth at the thought of the havoc they would wreak on their enemy on this pass. Within minutes Galk had begun the countdown and at 10,000 meters Henre called out. "Now Lt. Damas drop cloak, Mr Calder fire quantum torpedoes." Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo – Main Engineering- CEO, Lt. James Vandergriff - 1032) Several jolts of energy slammed into the hull on the aft side of the ship near the engineering section. The shields were a shot away from buckling to nothing. James was having quite the excitement in the reconfiguring the power levels from what was left of the plasma conduits into the dilithium inter-matrix chamber of the cloak device module. The automated computer voice sounded in engineering, which was like a fourth set of eyes to James, but blind as a bat and absolutely useless. [Automatic warp core containment field activated.] The voice stated. James’ sigh of relief was just short of screaming his head off when the voice came back by saying. [Tachyon emission leak detected; right side aft shield generator severely damaged; shields at 23.4% and dropping.] James in his wildest dreams could not fathom the notion that it could end so badly this way, but not on his watch. Captain LaBeau made his presence known over the comm system. =^= Mr. Vandergriff get someone on the cloak immediately if you can spare them, it does us little good if they can trace us by tachyon emissions, we need it nailed down immediately if possible. How are those engines holding up? =^= =^= Aye, Captain!! I’m pickin’ up the pieces down here! Give me three seconds to re-divert power from the secondary systems to the cloaking system and to the shields. =^= James said requesting a few seconds to re-energize the cloaking device and the shields. (Reply Captain LaBeau) At three seconds, the all too familiar computer voice sounded. [Secondary system power at 55%; Cloaking device stable at 53.2% of operating capacity; shields holding at 34.3%} James thought miracles could not happen in less than three seconds, but it did. He immediately transferred the data from his engineering console to the captain on the bridge and responded. =^= Captain, I think this all I can give you for the time being. Main engines are stressed beyond the norms at 145% due to the constant drain from the cloaking device, which was not designed for this type of combat, Sir. =^=
