He then attended classes at Starfleet Academy to become an Operations officer. After completing courses needed at Starfleet Academy, he was assigned to the USS Lejune (Nova-class) which was detailed to be part of the search for one of the five missing ships of the 52nd Fleet. Specifically, the USS Rosenante which had gone missing on stardate 2408.12.27. Tamblyn was later transferred to the USS Cavalier (Excelsior-class) which was actively engaged on the front line of the Heatherby Revolt (2411.01.20 - 2412.02.14). After Admiral Heatherby and several noteworthy members of the Irregular Federation Forces (IFF) disappeared, Starfleet declared victory.
