position occupied by a security officer was not permanent but was part of a three-month rotating duty. Calls would come through to staff and they would assign the duty security detail to answer that call. They also dealt with the day to day routine administrative
activities associated with security and the armoury. Starfleet security and intelligence routine bulletins were often re-routed to the Security Office. Lee felt that he didn’t have the time to read everything most of it was either trivial or involved news
that didn’t relate to the Sentinel. In any case, only items that were flagged for ‘Security Chief’s eyes’ only drew Lee’s attention. Lee was studying the schematics of the pirate ship, the battle cruiser Kang on a workstation along with Assistant Chief of
Security PO2 Carol Linnis. Carol was not part of the initial boarding team but she would have a standby team as back up. The three-dimensional rendition of the internal passageways and cabins of the wanted ship appeared alongside the tactical display.

But there were also volumes of space on the map which were not detailed: these could be secret compartments to hide contraband.”
