Scott had noticed the subspace communication early in the day but hadn’t had time to review it. He was hesitant to do so. The header read from his father…urgent. Family matters, career? His mind wandered. It had been a long while since he spoke to his father, even via subspace. The only thing they had in common was their interest in engineering. Scott had a knack for engineering and loved to tinker in the experimental…the admiral was a career oriented, ego-centric individual…well respected in his day, but the two clashed. They never got along…senior Matrix seemed to tolerate Scott’s existence, but followed his Academy career with intense interest…to the point where his instructors seemed uncomfortable.
